- Being research centre, we follow the below process:
- Find the supervisor/guide of the stream from research centre (One guide can have only 2 scholars registration in 1 academic year)
- Guide will upload application for Ph.D with online fee, scanned images of original certificates & marks card(UG & PG), photo, aadhar, category certificate, supervisor’s resume & certificates, Tentative area of research opting 4 coursework subjects (with copy of syllabus), payment proof of application fee to VTU (Rs.1500 online) etc. (Apr-May)
- Then hard-copy of application with NOC of your institution & with signature of candidate, supervisor, head of this research centre & principal, will be forwarded to the University through our research centre. (Apr-May)
- Hall ticket of entrance exam through guide portal (Jul-Aug), Result within 2 days of ETR
- After qualifying the entrance exam synopsis approved by guide will be uploaded through supervisor’s portal. (Aug-Sep)
- Presentation of synopsis in given format to VTU Panel(Oct)
- 2 scholars(Whose synopsis is recommended by the panel), will be eligible for admission under supervisor (Jan-Apr) Paying VTU fee 6000 + research centre fee 25000 per year
- Start coursework (Aug-Sep) to complete within 2 years.
- Progress, presentation of ongoing research per semester final thesis is produced for external evaluation.

Ph.D. | Engineering
The minimum academic qualifications to be satisfied by the candidates seeking admission to the Ph. D Programme, shall be as given below:
(a) The candidates shall possess a Master’s Degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent from the University or any other University recognized by it, with a minimum CGPA of 6.75 out of 10 or 60% aggregate marks at either the Bachelor’s or the Master’s Degree, or
(b) The candidates pursuing M.Sc.(Engg.) Degree by Research at the University, who have successfully completed the prescribed coursework in the first two semesters of study with an outstanding merit of either a minimum CGPA of 7.75 out of 10 or 70% aggregate marks and published research papers in refereed journals or filed/obtained patents shall be eligible for up-gradation to the M.Sc.(Engg.) + Ph. D Integrated Dual Degree programme, subject to approval by the Admissions Committee,
(c) The candidates pursuing M. Tech. Degree at the university who have successfully completed the prescribed coursework in the first three semesters of study with an outstanding merit of either a minimum CGPA of 7.75 out of 10 or 70 % aggregate marks and demonstrated good research aptitude shall be eligible for up-gradation to M. Tech. + Ph.D. Integrated Dual Degree Programme, subject to approval by the Admissions Committee.
Ph.D. | Business Administration
The candidates shall possess MBA Degree recognized by the University, with a minimum CGPA of 6.75 out of 10 or 60% aggregate marks at the Master’s Degree.
Ph.D. | Computer Applications
The candidates shall possess MCA Degree recognized by the University, with a minimum CGPA of 6.75 out of 10 or 60% aggregate marks at the Master’s Degree.
Ph.D. | Sciences
(a) Candidates with M.Sc. Degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and such other allied subjects shall also be eligible for registration, provided that their degrees are from recognized Universities and they are either working in Colleges affiliated to VTU or they are desirous of working under the guidance of recognized faculty of colleges affiliated to VTU. Candidates must have a minimum CGPA of 6.75 out of 10 or 60% aggregate marks at either the Bachelor’s or the Master’s Degree.
(b) The candidates pursuing M.Sc. (Engg.) Degree by Research at the University, who have successfully completed the prescribed coursework in the first two semesters of study with outstanding merit of either a minimum CGPA of 7.75 out of 10 or 70% aggregate marks and published research papers in refereed journals or filed/obtained patents shall be eligible for upgradation to the M.Sc. Ours (CMRIT) is the research centre of VTU, Belagavi, Karnataka (Govt. University) for engineering, science, MCA & management schemes/background. Applications are invited for full and part time research programmes.

There shall be provision for the following categories of candidates for admission to Ph.D:
Full-Time : Candidates who shall pursue Ph.D. research on a full time basis, either as regular, QIP/FIP scholars or those belonging to M.Sc. (Engg.) by Research + Ph. D or M.E./M. Tech./M. Arch. + Ph. D Dual Degree categories.
Part-Time : In-service candidates having a minimum professional experience of one year after his/her UG Degree from among faculty members working in any Engineering College / Polytechnic / University / Deemed to be University (recognized / accredited by appropriate bodies in India) or research staff of public / private organizations who shall pursue Ph.D research on part time basis.
Entrance Exam : ULRA Test is the University Level Research Aptitude Test conducted by the University to prepare the merit list of candidates for admission to the Ph.D. programme. ULRAT will be conducted for a total of 100 Marks consisting of objective type questions. List of successful candidates in ULRAT will be displayed on the website with instructions to prepare for the Pre-Registration interview.
Intake : Number of Candidates per Research Supervisor
The following norms / procedure shall be strictly adhered to while assigning the Research Supervisors to the candidates admitted at a Research Centre. Any violation of these norms/ procedures shall result in the University taking serious steps like derecognition of the Research Centre or the Research Supervisor.
(a) Each Research Supervisor shall supervise not more than eight candidates at a time including the candidates who have registered for Ph.D. degree at other Universities (acceptance for supervision of Ph. D students at other Universities shall be with the written permission of the University). Out of these candidates, five may be from the General Pool and the remaining three candidates shall be reserved for categories, such as SC / ST / Category-I/ Physically challenged.
(b) The seats reserved for SC / ST / Category-I / Physically challenged candidates shall be mutually interchangeable, but not transferable to the General Pool.
(c) The students who have completed the final Viva-Voce shall not be considered while counting the number of candidates assigned to a Research Supervisor.
(d) A Research Supervisor shall not be assigned more than two newly admitted candidates during an academic year.
Being research centre we brief the process of registration: (Here supervisor/guide terms are used with same meaning)
- Interested candidates will have to find first VTU approved supervisor/guide from research centre of VTU ( One supervisor can have 2 scholars only in one academic year ).
- The candidate may apply through an approved supervisor, head of VTU recognized research centre and principal of the college affiliated under Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. The candidates can visit the web site of VTU ( www.vtu.ac.in ) for list of recognized Research Centres and approved supervisor. (Tentative Months: April-May)
- A supervisor(guide) can upload attested documents, certificates, photos and marks card of Bachelor and master degree of valid/eligible (as per branch/background) research scholars with statement/document/receipt of payment online admission fee Rs. 1500/-(Rs. fifteen hundred only) ( VTU Online Fee ) payment along with other necessary documents.

- After submission the fresh candidate will get hall ticket of entrance exam through guide portal (Tentative month: July-Aug).
- Appear in entrance test. Result will be published within 3 working days on VTU web site.
- After clearing the entrance exam, synopsis of research in given format (with approval of guide) will be uploaded through supervisor’s portal. (Aug-Sep). Prepare PPTs for presentation
- Final Synopsis & related PPT(after after approval & signature of supervisor) will be presented as first presentation to VTU panel for acceptance (Nov-Dec)
- VTU panel may reject/approve/recommend with modification/may keep it pending for re-presentation for approval.
- After approval the candidate will be eligible for admission after paying Rs. 6000/- to VTU.
- After getting USN number from the university VTU, the candidate will pay to research centre fee (Rs. 25000* per year for 4 years) and candidate will start course work in research centre.
- The course work (4 papers) will be cleared within 2 years by the candidate.
- Then research work will be tracked by Doctoral committee (4 members) per semester by presentation and findings of the research to report progress to the university (VTU)
- Finally thesis is produced for external evaluation. VTU will nominate evaluators.
- If thesis accepted then candidate will prepare and attend for comprehensive viva and face final defense.

Procedure for Application
An aspiring candidate is required to fill the application form in full along with all the supporting documents mentioned therein and send the same so as to reach the Registrar on or before the last date of submission.
Screening of the Application for validating the eligibility of the candidate to take Entrance Exam
All the applications will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee to ascertain the eligibility of Candidate and the Supervisor. Thereafter, the list of candidates eligible for ULRAT under various Faculties will be displayed on the website along with the generated enrolment numbers.
The format of Entrance Exam
ULRAT will be conducted for a total of 100 Marks consisting of objective type questions. List of successful candidates in ULRAT will be displayed on the website with instructions to prepare for the pre-registration interview.
Pre-Registration Interview
The Expert Committee shall conduct the Pre-Registration interview at VTU Headquarters, Belgaum. Expert Committee shall evaluate the candidates for their research potential. Then the list of successful candidates for provisional registration shall be displayed on the website with further instructions.

Entrance Exam – ULRAT All eligible candidates shall appear for the ULRAT (UNIVERSITY LEVEL RESEARCH APTITUDE TEST) which shall be conducted by the University twice in a year as per the Clause PHD-10 of Regulations (Amended) Governing the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
Admit cards for those appearing at ULRAT shall be sent by the university through post/email to the candidates 10 days before the test. Candidates who do not receive the Admit Card may communicate the same to the University via: Fax: 0831-2405467, Phone: 0831-2498100/127 at least 3 days before the date of ULRAT.
Note: The candidates shall qualify in the ULRAT conducted by the University. However, mere clearance of ULRAT is not a guarantee for registration.
Categories of Candidates and other requirements:

Eligibility Criteria
A Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale.
A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently-abled and other categories of candidates. Candidates should also have taken up the CMRET entrance examination FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS Master’s degree determined as equivalent and recognized by the CMRU Equivalence Committee. The candidate must have a valid educational visa. In some cases, the candidate will need to produce an equivalence certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Delhi.
The following category of students are exempt from the CMR Entrance examination:
● Candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR NET (JRF), SET/SLET, GATE or any other examination considered equivalent by AIU.
● Candidates who have cleared the M.Phil. Course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed)

PhD in Management is a doctoral degree received by a candidate who excels in a particular area with in-depth knowledge and research. CMR University is one of the best colleges for PhD in Management in Bangalore . The scope of a PhD Management graduate is high. The career path they can choose is Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Human Resource Manager, Product Development Manager, Business Development Specialist, and Management Consultant. Based on the topic selected, the duration of the course may vary. The students must perform original research and submit their research paper or thesis.
CMR University offers a PhD in Management program. The eligibility criteria for applying is that the student must have a Master’s degree or a professional degree equivalent to a Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale. A difference of 50-55% is allowed for those who belong to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) / differently-abled and other categories of candidates. International candidates applying for a PhD admission in Management must take the CMRET examination or have a certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Delhi. If a student is qualified in UGC/CSIR NET (JRF), SET/SLET, GATE or any other examination considered by AIU or has cleared the M. How long does it take to complete a doctoral program?
In general, a doctoral degree is completed in four-seven years. It also depends on the research topic; the time may increase or decrease as only original work will be accepted. In CMRU, students who want to apply for the program must pass the exams or have an equivalent certificate.
What are the eligibility criteria for PhD in Management?
Eligibility criteria for applying for a PhD in Management is that the student must have a Master’s degree or a professional degree equivalent to a Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale. A difference of 50-55% is allowed for those who belong to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) / differently-abled and other categories of candidates.
International candidates applying for a PhD must take the CMRET examination or have a certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Delhi. If a student is qualified in UGC/CSIR NET (JRF), SET/SLET, GATE or any other examination considered by AIU or has cleared the M. Phil with a minimum aggregate of 55 percent or UGC 7-point scale, can be exempted by the CMRET examination.

Admission and eligibility for ph.d degree program.
Dayananda Sagar University (DSU) offers Ph D Programs in various disciplines. The University has well qualified faculty members to supervise research scholars and lead them to their Doctoral degree. These programs are available in both the full time and part time modes. DSU believes in the importance of interdisciplinary research and hence encourages scholars to pursue their work in socially relevant interdisciplinary areas.
Applications are invited for registration to the following Full Time/Part Time Research Programmes :
- Ph.D. in the Faculty of Engineering ( CS&E , E&CE, Mechanical Engg., & Aerospace Engineering)
- Ph.D. in the Faculty of Commerce & Management Studies
- Ph.D. in the Faculty of Basic & Applied Sciences ( Life Sciences , Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics)
- Ph.D. in the Faculty of Health Sciences ( Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physiotherapy and Nursing Sciences)

Ph.D in Inter-Disciplinary Area
i) The University encourages interdisciplinary research leading towards awarding of PhD degree, for such students who have Masters degree in appropriate subjects securing not less than 55% of the aggregate marks prescribed for the examination, or it’s equivalent grade ( in a point scale wherever grading system is followed ) and passed entrance examination for the PhD degree course, shall be eligible for admission to the Ph. D Degree Course. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade will be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC(non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled categories. ii) The candidate shall submit the title of the research area and the research proposal along with his/her application. iii) The degree shall be awarded in the discipline in which the candidate has registered to Ph.D. program. Further Supervisor and Co-Supervisor (if any) may be assigned from appropriate discipline.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE
- The number of available seats in the various specializations under different disciplines is published in the link Research Supervisor's List
- The candidate desirous of pursuing Ph.D. degree shall discuss with one of the guides listed above and submit the application in the prescribed form through proper channel wherever applicable. The Entrance Test application form and the necessary details are available at the end of this page.
- The selection of Ph D scholars is done based on the performance in the Entrance Test and the Interview conducted by an Expert Panel in the chosen discipline. However, the candidates should get min 50% in the aggregate, in the Entrance Test to become eligible for the interview. A relaxation of 5% marks ( from 50% to 45% in the case of PG degree Holders OR 70% to 65% in the case of 4-year Degree holders ) is allowed for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC ( Non Creamy Layers)/Differently-abled category as per the MHRD ( UGC ) notification F. No. 1-1/2002/(PS)Exempt( PT. FI. III) Vol-II dated 28th August 2018. Selection of Scholars in a discipline is done strictly based on the rank list prepared in that discipline by adding the performance of the candidates in the Entrance Test and interview.
a) Dayananda Sagar University Ph. D Entrance Test : The University will conduct Entrance Test of 120 marks for 3 hours duration as under: The syllabi of various disciplines for the Entrance Test for candidates other than those who have qualified UGC-JRF/UGC-NET/ UGC-CSIR JRF/ UGC-CSIR NET / SLET / GATE or hold teacher fellowship are in the tab “Entrance Test Syllabus”
b) Interview by an Expert Panel : The candidates shortlisted based on the performance in the Entrance Test will submit their Research Proposal with the help of the Supervisor ( and Co-supervisor, if any) and present before an Expert Panel set up by the University in the chosen discipline.
Duration of the Program
- Ph. D program will be for a minimum duration of THREE/FOUR years for the candidates with PG Qualification, including course work for FULL TIME/PART TIME scholars from the date of Ph D Registration. Candidates with 4-year degree will have FOUR/FIVE years duration including course work for FULL TIME/PART TIME scholars from the date of Ph. D. Registration.
- Extension of ONE year for both the FULL TIME and PART TIME Scholars from the date of registration beyond the above limits shall be permitted based on the recommendation of the Research Supervisor and the Research Advisory Committee concerned.

TUTION FEE

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

- A candidate with M. Phil Degree of this University or any other University recognized as equivalent there to in the concerned or cognate subject shall also be eligible for admission to the Ph. D Degree course, after passing the entrance examination as prescribed.
- A candidate, who has obtained a 4-year degree such as B.E/B.Tech/B.S or any other 4-year UGC recognized degree with minimum 70% aggregate marks (or equivalent grade point average) will be eligible to directly apply for Ph.D. Programme. STIPEND/FELLOWSHIP :
Full Time Ph. D Candidates having 4 / 5-year UG or 5-year integrated masters or 2-year Masters degree with CGPA 7.5 and above (on a 10-point scale) or equivalent with a waiver of 0.5 CGPA in case of SC/ST/OBC ( non-creamy layer )/EWS/Differently-abled candidates are eligible to apply for the position of fulltime scholars with fellowship. The candidates shall have some research orientation with proven credentials apart from clearing the Admission Process with excellent scores. The details of the Fellowship in selected disciplines ( CS&E, E&CE,Mechanical Engg., Aerospace Engg., Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Life Sciences,Management Studies and Pharmaceutical Sciences ) are in the below table::
Atal Incubation Centre at DSU ( AIC-DSU) will need a few full-time Ph. D candidates with fellowship. Candidates should have interest in innovation & entrepreneurship.

Doctoral Programme - Course Structure
Course structure.
- Provisionally registered candidates shall undergo course work of one semester duration of 100 hours inclusive of course-end assessment.
- Coursework conducted in weekends over a period of 4 months.
- Calendar of events to be notified by the University.
- Course work classes to be conducted @ ISME research centre.
- Detailed course plan would be shared by the research centre.
- The suggested course structure for Ph.D. Programme in Management of UoM generally consists of :

Admission to the Ph.D. program at ISME is highly competitive. The Admissions team reviews applications on an individual basis looking at both quantitative and qualitative aspects of an applicant’s professional and academic background. An elaborate selection process is followed to ensure quality enrolment.
Eligibility:
- General Merit candidates – Master’s degree or equivalent with minimum 55% marks or equivalent. (50% in case of SC / ST Category)
- In case of in service candidates – a minimum of 5 years of regular experience associated with teaching profession as teachers/ library professionals/ physical education instructors/ laboratory staff in educational institutions.
- NET qualified and KSET candidates are exempted from taking the entrance exam
Selection Process:
Stage 1: Complete Application Form (Online) Every applicant seeking admission to ISME needs to complete the Application Form, attach the required documents and submit the entire application to ISME’s Admission Office.
Stage 2: Personal Interview (Online / Face to face) Shortlisted applicants called for a personal interview with a panel of experts from ISME.
Stage 3: Selected applicants have to take up an entrance test conducted by University of Mysore. Coaching and guidance provided for the same
Stage 4: Admission Decision Based on the review of the application, test scores and the recommendation of the interview panel, the admission committee invites selected students for admission to the program. Admitted candidates are sent the Admission Offer letter. The admission would be final only after the receipt of confirmation of Admission Acceptance from the candidate and the payment of the registration fee. Fee once paid is non refundable. Admission will be confirmed once the candidate cleared the entrance exam, conducted by University of Mysore.
Mysore University Entrance Exam
Applications for Entrance Test shall be invited usually only once a year and the entrance test notification is announced by the University. The Registrar (Evaluation) shall invite application from the eligible candidates.
- The Entrance Test shall consist of one paper on the broad area of Ph.D. of 100 marks with 3 hours duration. Syllabus of the paper shall be framed by the respective Boards of Studies based on UGC / CSIR National Eligibility Test (NET) pattern.
- The question paper shall contain 50 objective type questions of one mark each and essay type / short answer questions for 50 marks.
- For candidates intending to do inter/ multi-disciplinary research, the Entrance Test shall be a common Entrance test in a general paper and the syllabus of the paper shall be framed by the inter/ Multidisciplinary Board of Studies

The International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) was founded in 1978 and was the first institution in Italy to promote post-graduate courses leading to a Doctor Philosophiae (or PhD) degree. A centre of excellence among Italian and international universities, the school has around 65 teachers, 100 post docs and 245 PhD students, and is located in Trieste, in a campus of more than 10 hectares with wonderful views over the Gulf of Trieste.
SISSA hosts a very high-ranking, large and multidisciplinary scientific research output. The scientific papers produced by its researchers are published in high impact factor, well-known international journals, and in many cases in the world's most prestigious scientific journals such as Nature and Science. Over 900 students have so far started their careers in the field of mathematics, physics and neuroscience research at SISSA.

Power spectrum of H i 21-cm radiation is one of the promising probes to study large scale structure of the universe and understand galaxy formation and evolution. The presence of foregrounds, that are orders of magnitude larger in the same frequency range of the redshifted 21-cm signal has been one of the largest observational challenges. The foreground contamination also hinders the calibration procedures and introduces residual calibration errors in the interferometric data. It has been shown that the calibration errors can introduce bias in the 21-cm power spectrum estimates and introduce additional systematics. In this work, we assess the efficacy of 21-cm power spectrum estimation for the uGMRT Band-3 observations of the ELAIS-N1 field. We first evaluate the statistics of the residual gain errors and perform additional flagging based on these statistics. We then use an analytical method to estimate the bias and variance in the power spectrum. We found that (a) the additional flagging based on calibration accuracy help reduce the bias and systematics in the power spectrum, (b) the majority of the systematics at the lower angular scales, ℓ< 6000, are due to the residual gain errors, (c) for the uGMRT baseline configuration and system parameters, the standard deviation is always higher than the bias in the power spectrum estimates. Based on our analysis we observe that for an angular multipole of ℓ∼3000, 2000 hours of `on source time' is required with the uGMRT to detect redshifted 21-cm signal at 3-σ significance from a redshift of 2.55. In this work we only consider the power spectrum measurement in the plane of the sky, an assessment of residual gain statistics and its effect on multifrequency angular power spectrum estimation for the uGMRT and the SKA like telescopes will be presented in a companion paper.
