4 Reasons Why Online Shopping Of Gadgets Is Better Than Offline Shopping
Hardly anyone of us is living a life these days that does not include the use of some type of gadget. Be it smartphones, Bluetooth devices, speakers, televisions, cameras or more, everyone has one, mainly because these gadgets make our life convenient and comfortable. With newer products being introduced every single day and demands also increasing simultaneously, there is perhaps now a gadget store at almost every corner.
However, with the advent of online shopping and emergence of giant e-commerce retailers, a significant portion of consumers who previously used to visit these stores have now moved towards online shopping to purchase their favorite gadgets. They have done so for many reasons.
How Online Shopping Of Gadgets Is Better Than Offline Shopping
Eliminates boundaries to explore.
One of the major advantages of shopping online for gadgets is that you don't have to drive around all day to find the right product. One can simply search online from a database of millions to find gadgets according to the brand, type, specifications, price and a whole lot more. Even if a customer is unsure about a specific brand, product or only has a vague idea as to what he or she wants, they can search and narrow down options quickly with a few clicks.
Get The Best Price
A lot of stores these days run promotions specifically directed towards online shoppers. In fact, online promotions and deals are very easy to keep track of as one can just subscribe to various websites for updates. You don't have to run to a store to find out what is being offered at a reduced price. Recently I found a discount coupon of Dell on Dealhack which helped me save a significant amount of money compared to window shopping. Now, that is certainly not possible from offline shopping.
Moreover, online shopping also allows one to compare costs of the same product being offered by different retailers. Shoppers can then choose a particular retailer to get the best value and place orders accordingly.
Instantly Collect All Relevant Information
Gadgets these days come with numerous features. As conventional buyers, we all want the best for our investment. Shopping online allows us to retrieve information about any product instantly even if we have never heard about it. Based on the findings – expert reviews, pros, cons, reputation and a whole lot more, one can make smart decisions and even prevent falling prey to sales tactics commonly employed by sales representatives in stores.
Round The Clock Availability
Whenever buying a gadget, it is best never to rush. Often when shopping in stores, buyers tend to act hastily to cope with their busy schedules. Online shopping offers a 24/7 window to customers who can simply shop at any time of the day and spend as much time as they want to find all relevant information.
Bottom Line
Days of traditional window shopping will never end but, high-end gadgets will be bought online, more than online because of various factors involved. E-Commerce Companies should focus on those customers first who are showing interests in gadgets.

In recent years, there has been a growing trend that people tend to buy things on the Internet in online shopping . This present both pros and cos cons , however, in my opinion, its benefits are much more significant than the drawbacks.
The phrase “buy things on the Internet” is already used in the essay topic. Try to shorten it by using a suitable buzzword, such as “online shopping”
Words such as 'people' and 'ideas' have the potential to be vague. So, avoid saying “people tend to” if possible.
The second sentence in the introduction has too many commas. Break it into two simple sentences if necessary.
On the one hand, shopping online online shopping brings to the consumers some disadvatages. Initially, since people are unable to touch or to see the products they want to buy in reality, it is always hard for them to examine the quality of these products. As a result, they might purchase the items with poor quality. In addition to that, as the consumers do not feel happy with the items they had bought online, they tend to abandon these products or dont do not use them at all. This is definitely a watse waste of money. Moreover, buyings thing on the Internet often makes people confused since there are a great number of shops on the Internet. To be specific, the buyers might see the same products in several shops, but the prices for these items can be very different, ranging from reasonable to prohibitedly expensive price . Consequently, they will not know which products they should purchase.
The second sentence is too wordy, due to the fact that the words “ people ”, “ they ”, and “ them ” all have been used despite being unnecessary. Since the main focus here is the products, not the people using them, I suggest rewriting the whole sentence into passive voice .
Avoid using contraction (“ don’t ”) in an academic context.
The ideas and sentence structures being used here are kinda repetitive. Regarding of online shopping, there are many issues that are worth mentioning ( shipment delays, misleading online marketing, annoying advertises, etc)
On the other hand, I am of the opinion that shopping online online shopping brings people a number of benefits. First, shopping online online shopping allows the consumers to browse for products and checking comparing the prices between these online shops. In this way, people can make a better decision to buy what they like after taking prices, sizes and models of the products into consideration. To speak From my experience, I used to buy an elegant dress es at virtual shop s , which was cheaper compared to that of some shops near my houses. Second, buyings things on the Internet helps people save a great deal of time. That is to say, since people nowadays are often so caught up with work and study, shopping online online shopping is a wise choice which doesn’t does not require them to go the the stores. With a click of mouse With just a click , they can buy the things they need and the shippers will deliver their products to the customers as soon as possible. Third, since there is a high demand of buying things online, many people can realize their dream of starting up their own business and achieve success in the long rub run. This can be seen as a positive trend because it creates good job opportunities for the people and thereby help people to improve their income and well-being. This also contributes to boost ing the economy of a nation in general l .
While the second body paragraph is very long (216 words!), its quaility doesn’t appear much better than the first one. Try to write only 70 words, you will definitely see an improvement.
Many idioms are introduced in this paragraph: “a great deal of time”, “in the long run”, “to be caught up”, “to take in consideration”, “with just a click”. However, the attempt to use them isn’t really succesful, due to some spelling mistakes.
The vocabulary is kinda limitted here. However, there are a variety of connectives (“on the one hand”, , “first”, “in this way”, “thereby”, etc).
In conclusion, although buyings things on the Internet exerts some adverse aspects, the advantages can justify these.
Too short and unconvincing. Need to give more emphasis.

With the advent of technological advancement, 21st century has witnessed a boom in e-commerce. The number of online shopping websites is increasing exponentially. Shopping online has its upsides and downsides but the positives of this technological blessing far outweighs its negatives.
Firstly, online shopping saves one from travel and traffic problems. I live in the outskirts of Karachi and commuting to the city for buying stuff is not an easy task for me. Further, Karachi is an overly-populated city with the worst traffic situation, all this makes it more difficult to travel. This problem is hugely resolved by the e-buying facility. Everything is simply a click away, whether it is groceries, air tickets, clothes or books. Whatever I order is duly received at my doorstep, without my having to embark on long, hectic shopping-trips.
Secondly, buying things on the internet provides you with a wide range of options. Consider yourself in a gigantic super-mart having access to every type of item you can imagine! On the internet there is no physical space limitation, therefore the variety available for a single item is endless. Also, there are countless websites where you can compare product prices, specifications, extra features, deals and a lot more. One such website is Compare.Pk, where you can select an item and compare it with similar items of other brands for specifications and prices. All this not only provides convenience to customers but also exposes them to a very huge market for buying the most appropriate item.
In conclusion, it can be unambiguously agreed upon that the advancement in e-buying has resulted in convenience for buyers. One only has to select and order an item and it arrives at his doorstep. Also, the available options for a single commodity are endless, so that a person can compare and buy the best.

Corrected Essay:
With the advent of technological advancement, 21st century has witnessed a boom in e-commerce the number of online shopping websites is increasing exponentially. Shopping online has its upsides and downsides but the positives of this technological blessing far outweighs its negatives . The positive impacts on online shopping undermine its negative sides because the advanced technology can save our time and give more options for purchasing .
The opening paragraph does not contain a clear thesis statement. It is important to tell what you are going to talk about and where you are positioning on the views.
Phrases ‘ a boom in e commerce’ and ‘ is increasing exponentially’ have similar meaning. It is better to keep it in short, but clear sentence.
Firstly, online shopping saves one from travel and traffic problems. Online shopping does not require people to travel . I live in the outskirts of Karachi and commuting to the city for buying stuff is not an easy task for me. Further, Karachi is an overly-populated city with the worst traffic situation, all this makes it more difficult to travel. As living in Karachi, an over-populated city with its congestion problems, many citizens like me have to overcome difficult situation only for buying stuff in the city centre . This problem is hugely resolved by the e-buying facility. Everything is simply a click away, whether it is groceries, air tickets, clothes or books. Whatever I order is duly received at my doorstep, without my having to embark on long, hectic shopping-trips . This platform enables consumers to experience shopping activities in simple ways. Take the biggest e-commerce in the word, eBay which provides wide varieties of products, for example. As a student, I often ordered books, air tickets, and fashion items. Likewise, many housewives in my neighbourhood prefer to purchase groceries through this website. If eBay was never exist before, buyers like us might have to spend longer times taking long trips to get our shopping lists. This example tells about how an effective shopping is advantageous as a time saver.
Firstly is ommited as the topic sentence is not too clear enough to represent the main idea.
The use of ‘I’ in your example does not cover people’ problems in general, so I have changed ‘I’ into ‘ many citizen like me’
Everything is simply a click away needs to be elaborated . Please see the changes.
You only mention groceries, air tickets, clothes or books without giving explanation. If you want to score higher, it is your task to present your ideas in details. I have made some detailed explanations with this.
Secondly, Another benefit is that buying things items on the internet serves unlimited choices provides you with a wide range of options . Consider yourself in a gigantic super-mart having access to every type of item you can imagine! On the internet there is no physical space limitation, therefore the variety available for a single item is endless. Also, there are countless websites where you can compare product prices, specifications, extra features, and deals and a lot more . One such website is Compare.Pk, where you can select an item and compare it with similar items of other brands for specifications and prices. All this not only provides convenience to customers but also exposes them to a very huge market for buying the most appropriate item.
You need to link both main ideas in the first sentence using transitional phrase. But remember, reliance too much on this will score you lower. Use them when necessary .
The word ‘ things’ is a weak lexical resource. It is better to use some alternative vocabs like stuff, items, daily needs , etc.
A wide range of options have been mentioned in the intro, you need to paraphase it. Serves unlimited choices.
You do not need to use exclamation mark. Present your sentence in a smooth way.
Consider yourself in a gigantic super-mart having access to every type of item you can imagine!. This sentence also does not make a sense.
And a lot more is vague. You’d better omit this phrase.
In conclusion, it can be unambiguously agreed upon it is true that the advancement in e-buying has resulted in convenience for buyers. One only has to select and order an item and it arrives at his doorstep. Also, the available options for a single commodity are endless, so that a person can compare and buy the best.
You have to summarise your main points and reiterate your opinion. Some ideas presented are sidetrack.
Your opinion does not state your opinion clearly.
It can be unambiguously agreed upon is counted as 6 words. It is always good to be succinct and keep straight to the point.
Let me give you an example of this: In conclusion, the disadvantages of e-commerce trend are overshadowed by the benefits resulting from modern technology. I am convinced that online shopping is one of great innovations of people doing transaction as it reduces time and provides more options.

Product Reviews in Online Shopping Essay
Introduction.
The aim of this paper is to analyze the article titled “When shopping online, can you trust the reviews?” written by Elizabeth Holmes. The paper will discuss strategies used by online retailers in their product reviews as well as describe a research study that can be used to explore the relationship between customer comments and their buying habits.
Holmes’ article explores the importance of customer reviews in the modern retail industry. She begins by admitting that nowadays, retailers dedicate more time and effort than ever to the commentary on shopping experience left by their customers. The author points to the fact that modern e-commerce websites discourage anonymous commenters from leaving reviews in order to eliminate so-called ‘sock puppets’ who have an agenda. Holmes (2016) emphasizes the importance of negative reviews and notes that they help to effectively respond to complaints. The author also discusses various strategies used by online retailers to encourage their customers to leave reviews.
In order to support her arguments, the journalist refers to the Deloitte 2016 Holiday Survey with a sample size of 5, 000 customers (Holmes, 2016). The findings of the study show that “66% of shoppers who research online say they read customer reviews on websites” (Holmes, 2016, para. 3). The author cites chief executive of PowerReviews who suggests that only 4% of shoppers leave reviews (Holmes, 2016). Another sources cited to justify the importance of online product reviews is a study conducted by Northwestern University’s Spiegel Digital and Database Research Center in 2015 (Holmes, 2016). The study reveals that verified customers leave an average rating of 4.34 in their reviews, whereas an average rating from an anonymous buyer is only 3.89 (Holmes, 2016).
There are many strategies used by online retailers for encouraging their customers to leave reviews and make them more useful for potential buyers. According to Holmes (2016), Target allows sorting reviews by different categories such as “’ease of assembly’ for furniture, or ‘design’ for home décor items” (para. 17). The retailer also simplifies voting for its shoppers, thereby allowing them to participate in classifying other people’s reviews as ‘helpful’ or ‘not helpful’ (Holmes, 2016).
Another strategy that should be adopted by other e-commerce websites is a customer loyalty program launched by Zappos. The retailer rewards its customers for feedback by granting them 100 points for participation, which is “the same number of points a shopper gets for spending $10” (Holmes, 2016, para. 12). This useful strategy indicates that the company treats reviews and recommendations left by its customers as an asset rather than a liability.
Word-of-mouth (WOM) in the context of e-commerce is an important factor that can influence consumer behavior to a great extent. In order to assess how consumer communities react on reviews left by other buyers, it is necessary to explore the relationship between positive reviews to negative reviews ratio and purchase decisions. A research study assessing relative proportions of reviews and how they affect the credibility of a website and buying habits of online shoppers would provide invaluable insights into concrete experiences of customers. Furthermore, such study would be useful for e-commerce companies that do not know how to better present WOM communication on their websites.
The paper has helped to better understand the influence of product reviews on consumer behavior. It was shown that many customers make their informed decisions on new purchases based on electronic WOM.

Here Are The Dos And Don'ts Of Buying Gadgets Online
In-store purchasing of electronics is going the way of the horse and buggy.
Best Buy recently announced the closure of 50 stores and experts are speculating the inevitable demise of the big-box company, thanks to stiff competition from e-retailers like Amazon.
In 2011, Amazon's revenue rose 69 percent in electronics and general merchandise sales alone, according to the Associated Press. And Circuit City accepted its fate years ago when it closed its brick-and-mortar locations and now operates exclusively online.
Convenience and better prices are the name of the online-purchasing game, but that doesn't mean there aren't pitfalls to the practice. Before you invest in your next pricey gadget, consider these do's and don'ts before clicking "purchase."
DO Compare Prices Most people know to consult online prices when shopping at brick-and-mortar stores, but the same diligence should be applied when purchasing something online. Though Amazon offers competitive prices, it behooves you to look at other sites and take advantage of sales and promotions.
DON'T Skip the Promo Code Box If you notice a space for "coupon code" or "promo code" upon checkout, that means there's likely a code lurking out there to save you even more. Sites like FreeShipping.org make it easy to search for current deals from trusted electronics e-retailers like Tiger Direct.
DO Track Price History Knowing the price history of an item helps you determine the best time to buy it. The aptly named Decide.com provides a quick "buy" or "wait" recommendation when you enter the product you covet, based on the item's price history.
DON'T Forget About Open Box You may think open box items are reserved for physical store locations, but think again. Popular electronics e-retailer Newegg has a page dedicated to open-box items, all guaranteed in quality by the company and available for a fraction of the original price.
DO Consider Used or Refurbished Just like open-box items, used or refurbished electronics are a great alternative to pricey new items. If you just can't swing the cost of a new TV, there's no need to abandon your dream of owning one when refurbished sets often come with a warranty and include new parts and accessories.
DON'T Buy Extended Warranties Shopping online helps you avoid the annoying song-and-dance about extended warranties at checkout, but that doesn't mean online retailers won't try to sell you on the extra. Don't let their reasoning talk you into an unnecessary purchase; The warranty offered by the manufacturer is almost always sufficient. For other ways sellers try to pitch extended warranties, check out this article from The Consumerist.
DO Shop Safely Online shopping offers convenience unparalleled by physical stores, but it's not without its perils. To avoid being victim to identity theft, make sure your anti-virus software is up to date and don't make purchases on public networks. Use your credit card for extra security and always look for "https" in the checkout URL.
DON'T Leave it On Your Doorstep Once you determine the best time to buy, the best website from which to purchase, and the most secure payment method, don't allow your new gadget to sit unprotected on your doorstep. If your workplace allows it, send it to the office or to a trusted friend or family member who will be home during delivery time.

IELTS Writing Task 2: Essay on online shopping/virtual shopping/e-shopping; with planning and model answer
This IELTS Writing Task 2 post is about ‘online shopping and its merits and demerits’ . Here, I’ve discussed the advantages and disadvantages of virtual/online/e-shopping and presented a model answer on this Task 2 question. This model answer can guide you to write an answer to any online shopping related essay.
Let’s have a look at the question we are going to discuss today.
The language of this task 2 question can be different in different exams.
Here’s another example of the same question:
An increasing number of people are buying what they need online.
What are the advantages and disadvantages for both individuals and companies to shopping online?
Nowadays, e-shopping or shopping online has an increasing trend among shoppers. It has both positive and negative sides. First, we need to make a plan for writing on this topic.
Here’s a short plan that may help you.
Planning and organisation:
Here is how I’ve planned the essay with a 4-paragraph structure:
- Introduction: topic + thesis (2 sentences can be sufficient): Introduce the topic – ‘online shopping getting more popular’. Then write a thesis on how you are going to show that there are some positives and negatives of the issue.
- Body paragraph on the reasons behind virtual shopping being so popular: You can write about straightforward ideas e.g. people get more convenience, and availability or choice of products. Give some real-life examples here.
- Body paragraph on the negative sides of online shopping: Again, present some very general ideas e.g. customers get cheated and people become more isolated. Give some real-life examples here too
- Conclusion: restate your ideas Online shopping has both advantages and disadvantages. You can give your personal opinion on how the disadvantages can be reduced.
Now let’s take a look at the model answer.
Model answer: expected band score – 7.5 to 8.0
In recent years, the rate of in-store shopping has plunged due to vast opportunities for buying different products including daily necessaries from hundreds of online stores. This essay will try to demonstrate chances such as convenience and product availability as the reasons behind the popularity of e-shopping whereas it will focus on swindling and isolation as the pitfalls of this issue.
Initially, the prime reason behind the popularity of e-shopping is convenience which can be easily understood from the thousands of virtual shops all over the world. To illustrate, people nowadays are busier than ever because of the fast pace of the world and they want to save as much time as they can for relaxation. Virtual shopping gives this magnificent prospect of time-saving and so people enjoy taking it. Besides, superstores sometimes run out of products in the precise moment when people need them which online shops rarely have this crisis. For instance, I needed a flat-screen monitor a few months ago but my local store had it out of stock. When I peeped into some online stores I found it easily on eBay.
Meanwhile, though shopping on the internet looks very promising, it is not without its setbacks. Many people, mostly the newcomers, regularly complain of getting tricked on virtual shopping and the rate of complaints is increasing at a faster rate. To explain, one of my friends has recently got swindled when he paid in advance for a smartwatch. Additionally, people often become isolated in their rooms through e-shopping which can affect their feelings and behaviour. As an example, a friend of mine started shopping online a couple of years ago even though the nearest superstore was only 500 metres away. His neighbours, nowadays, describe him as an ill-mannered and antisocial person which, needless to say, is the result of being home and becoming isolated from the outer world.
In brief, virtual shoppers obtain greater benefits if compared to in-store shoppers. Converting such shopping to a stress-free experience, it is turning out to be progressively more convenient. However, as clients may sometimes get deceived and become cut off from the social world, concerned authorities should look into the matter cautiously. (360 words)
Here are some other Task 2 questions which can be answered taking help from the given essay example on online shopping:
- Some people support online shopping because it is convenient, while others argue that shopping on the internet poses threats. Discuss both views and give your opinions.
- Nowadays on-line shopping has become more popular than in-store shopping. Is it a positive or a negative development?
- Nowadays many people go shopping in their free time. Shopping has replaced many other activities that people used to choose as their hobby. What are the reasons for this? Is this a positive or negative development?
If you have written any answer to this question, you can post it in the comment box and we can discuss about it in details.

Short Essay About Online Reviews Effects on Buying Habits
The advancement of technology made shopping more convenient and comfortable. Now, if you are not in the mood or don’t have the time to visit brick-and-mortar stores, you don’t have to. You can find anything you want and need online. And what are online reviews effects on buying habits because of this?
Starting with fashion items and personal care, to electronics, appliances, furniture, and even groceries, they are all available in online stores and delivered directly to your doorstep. But, in spite of the fact that everything looks so simple, as the owner of an e-commerce business, you know that things are far from being simple. Competition in this particular business niche is harsh and you need to deposit constant efforts to keep clients coming on your website.
People at Premier Pups, as a small breed puppies online store, are very aware of that.
Online Reviews Effects on Buying Habits: The biggest challenge is to make people choose you over your competition
This is, definitely, one of the biggest challenges every e-commerce business owner has. Unless you came on the market with products that can’t be found anywhere else, which is unlikely, you will have to work hard to get the attention and trust of potential prospects. But, there is a way to change the habits of buyers in your favor, without spending too many resources on the method. We are talking about the power of online reviews on buying habits. It is recommended to encourage your customers to leave reviews of the products and services you provided, as online reviews are the best marketing method your business can enjoy.
Of course, as it may be easy to tell, you will need to have good care of your customers so that their reviews are positive reviews. While negative reviews are also useful, as they show you where you need to improve your services and business, positive online reviews are gold when it comes to attracting customers.
Let’s talk a little more about negative reviews
It is not advised, especially if we’re talking about big companies with a lot of products to sell, to only have positive reviews regarding your company. The chances are, if that is the case, that the owner of the company invested quite a few money in making the bad reviews go away or…not be visible anymore. And that’s also what the customer will think. It is normal to have bad reviews for your products, and that’s actually the way the real world works.
Also, these bad, nasty, or even justified comments sometimes, can be a gold mine when it comes to ideas of improving your business. Let the customers tell you what of your services doesn’t work and both parts will be happier afterwards.
Bad reactions can also give other customers a sense of what the risks are. What’s the worse thing that could happen? Oh, the TV remote control didn’t come with batteries included for 1 of 18656 customers that bought the same product? And no other customers have had worse experiences? That’s cool, I’ll buy it. The probabilities for that to happen to me are small, and if it happens, I’ll just buy two batteries from the store.
Just how much can online reviews influence a shopper’s decision-making process?
It’s time to be fully aware that online reviews can make a person purchase a product or not, choose a particular brand to the detriment of the other, and so on. This is why customer reviews are so important; they can turn visitors into clients with ease, or chase them away. So, how powerful are these reviews? When asked, approximately 85% of the shoppers declared that online reviews are extremely important in their decision-making process. Also, 87% of them stated that they don’t hesitate to leave an online review of the products and services they purchase, sharing with others their opinions and experiences. 71% of online shoppers say that the reviews play a very important role when they want to choose a wide range of products, starting with electronics, furniture, and others as well.
The truth is that, in comparison with online stores, you can’t actually see, feel, or try the products you intend to purchase. Thus, what others have to say about them, their personal experiences during the purchasing process and with the products turn out to be highly valuable information sources.
People value online reviews more than what a salesperson has to say
Salespeople are educated and trained individuals, but, in spite of these, people will always believe that other customers have to say rather than just seek for the recommendation of salespeople. This happens both when clients are looking for a new product and when they are comparing a known product with similar products from different brands. The opinions of others are simply more credible and trustworthy because they are the sincere thoughts of people, not the well-built marketing sentences formulated by people that were trained to sell.
Even if a person does visit a brick-and-mortar store and finds a product labeled as desirable, it is very likely for that person to also check the online reviews for that particular product. In fact, about 60% of people do this, especially when visiting a retail store with the purpose of purchasing a mobile device, for example.
Online reviews are just what new brands need
Making a new brand known to the public can turn out to be a real struggle. This happens not because people are not open to trying new brands, but because they are weary and not sure what to expect. They wish to avoid the disappointment of spending money on something that won’t be up to their expectancies. Well, this is where online reviews come in and change everything. Online reviews can convince people to try a new brand much better than any other type of marketing campaign. The reasons why this is happening were just presented in the previous paragraphs.
Conclusion: What are Reviews Effects on Buying Habits?
So, whether you are looking to start a new e-commerce business or make your current business more successful, the answer you’re looking for lies in online reviews. Get them from your clients and make sure that they are positive, and watch your business thrive.

Sample of a Short Essay on Electronic Gadgets
Using electronic devices in the classroom is often underestimated. They can bring a lot of benefits if students and professors use them only for studying purposes. Otherwise, if students use their smartphones and laptops only for entertainment, this misuse significantly distracts them from the learning process and makes their devices uselessm, unless they look for “ write my essay for me cheap ” help.
WritingCheap cheap essay writing service proposes students to read our sample short essay on electronic gadgets. After getting acquainted with this subject, you can understand the methods of using electronic devices in the classroom and how to write a perfect essay by yourself. Impress your teacher with your knowledge of the advantages and disadvantages of electronic gadgets in class.
Effects of Electronic Devices on Education Electronic devices include integrated circuits controlled by the electric current; they are mainly used for processing, transfer, and control systems. Education, on the other hand, involves the process of gaining knowledge through an interactive process. Electronic devices affect education positively and negatively; the positive influence concerns enhancing education, and the negative influences affect the entire learning process. Positive Effects Electronic devices enhance education by making the learning resources easily assessable. By using a computer, students can access education information through the Internet. Additionally, there are technology-related projects that help the student be creative, innovative, and inventive (Eggers, 16). It also improves the teacher-student communication; these devices make a classroom a network system where there is a transfer of information from teacher to student and among students. Moreover, they directly help teachers in educating by bringing out the real picture in the process of giving information. For example, documentaries show the practical experience of events in history. Negative Effects The negative effects include making students spend the most time on devices, time that could otherwise be used for studying. Additionally, the information given tends to diminish the necessity of education. Some devices, such as mobile phones, also affect the learning process through interruptions from calls and text messages. Moreover, there is too much information available on electronic devices, and some of it is wrong. Hence, they tend to misguide students (Chen & Yun 6). Finally, these devices also create an opportunity for cheating among students. Conclusion In conclusion, electronic devices positively affect the communication process by making it easier for both the student and the teacher. However, if they are not contained, they change the process negatively. Therefore, there is a need to establish the best approach to ensure that devices have a positive effect, for example, through creating rules about the use of these devices in a classroom. 10 best gadgets for online learning
People could debate all day long about whether online learning is better than actually attending a class, and in truth, there may never be a winner to that argument.
But there’s no doubt that online sessions have their perks. You can do them from the comfort of your bedroom or study, there’s no travel time required, and hey, you don’t even have to get properly dressed (though we wouldn’t recommend this last perk!). All you need is some best gadgets like WiFi, a laptop or a tablet and you’re good to go.
But to make the whole experience a lot smoother and more efficient, the team at Edvoy has put its heads together and come up with some really useful accessories and gadgets for online learning. Some are pretty hi-tech and flashy, while some are absurdly cheap and simple. Either way, each will make your online learning a good deal more comfortable, efficient and enjoyable.
10 Best gadgets for online classes for students
- Headphones w/ microphone
- Ergonomic chair
- Webcam upgrade
- Orthopedic backrest
- Laptop stand
- Standing desk
- Wireless keyboard/mouse
- WiFi Booster
- Desk writing pad
- Smart reusable notebook
1. Headphones with a microphone
There are few things more annoying in the “working from home” world than being disturbed by hearing your housemates' conversations!
With that in mind, get yourself a decent pair of headphones that can keep your sessions (and theirs) private. Though make sure that the headphones you buy also have a microphone, or else you’ll constantly be on mute during that Zoom class!
They don’t have to be big and bulky, nor do they have to be as slick as a set of AirPods, as long as you can hear and be heard clearly without having to shout.
2. Ergonomic chair
You’re going to be spending a lot of time sitting at a desk (or maybe standing… more on that below). So you may as well make sure that you can be comfortable, while keeping your posture right to avoid doing any long term damage!
Oh, and in case you’re wondering, ergonomic means that it’s designed for comfort and efficiency in a working environment. Bonus points for a chair with wheels — it’s fun to scoot around your room between classes.
3. A webcam upgrade
If you’ve got a modern Macbook or other laptop, chances are you won’t need this. But webcams tend to be pretty poor on standard laptops, and perhaps non-existent if you're working on a desktop computer.
A good upgrade doesn't have to cost much and could make the difference between the digital you looking well… like you, or like a 1990s TV character.
4. Orthopedic backrest
A cheaper alternative to our ergonomic chair, or a pretty great supplement for it too!
The old folks might tell you that back pain is theirs and theirs alone, but as someone who’s been battling it since my high school days, one of the best investments I’ve ever made is a simple posture correcting backrest.
A decent one will allow you to sit comfortably while preventing you from slouching, too much of which leads to back and neck ache. Trust me on that one.
5. Laptop stand
You can see we’re big on comfort and long term health here, right?
Ideally, the top of your computer screen should be level with somewhere around your nose or eyes. But laptops don’t work that way, and tablets certainly don’t. They like to suck you down into a bent-over position. A simple laptop stand will fix this.
Some are cheap as chips, while the more fancy ones adjust to a range of different heights and even keep your computer nice and cool. You don’t want it to overheat and go offline in the middle of a class, do you?
6. Standing desk
OK, one last comfort/health one and then we’re done, promise!
Standing desks are all the rage these days at techy startups and big corporations alike. Turns out sitting down too much isn’t that good for us (what a shame), so rather than reducing working (or studying) hours, some geniuses have created standing desks.
The thing is, they’re great! The best ones are collapsible, so you can set them up and stow them away easily, allowing you to switch between sitting and standing any time you choose.
7. Wireless keyboard/mouse
Now we’re getting into the gadgety side of these gadgets! Too many wires just makes your work area become cluttered, so getting yourself a bluetooth mouse and keyboard is a great call.
They pack away easily, and allow you some breathing space from your laptop, which will do your eyes (and your posture...again) no harm at all. They also just look pretty cool and futuristic. We like that.
8. Wi-Fi booster / extender
Two different names for essentially the same practical, effective gadget.
Even in the year 2021, houses seem to have WiFi weak spots. That’s a crying shame, and unfortunately, it’s one that could turn your online learning journey into a lagging, poorly connected, cutting-out-again-and-again mess.
One simple way to fix that is to plug directly into your WiFi router, but that probably isn’t in the most work-friendly place. So, a decent (usually quite cheap) WiFi booster should do the trick.
9. Desk writing pad
This isn’t quite a gadget in the modern sense of the word, but it’s going on the list. Why? It’s very simple, very useful, and the best in any stationery store.
Essentially it’s a big diary-style open notepad that (ideally) gently sticks to your desk. Perfect for jotting down reminders, making to-do lists, setting schedules and that kind of thing.
It’s better than an actual notebook because it’s just there… open and visible. A nice eco-friendlier alternative to this, by the way, would be a little whiteboard!
10. Smart reusable notebook
This is by far the coolest online learning gadget I’ve ever seen, and I wish I had one!
It looks like a notebook and pen, but it doesn’t use paper or ink! With a smart reusable notebook, you can listen to your lectures, make hand-written notes (which is faster than typing) on your computer, and everything you (or draw or sketch or doodle) gets uploaded to whatever cloud service you use (G-drive, Dropbox, iCloud etc).
It’s smooth, very cool, and you can feel good about saving trees too!

E-commerce and the influencer economy.
How internet shopping became choked with junk.
By Annemarie Conte
She is a deputy editor at Wirecutter.
People are bombarded online each day with ads for newfangled products that promise dramatic life improvements. Modish tumblers . Sleek pans . Miraculous cleaning solutions . Overblown air purifiers. Just click this link and — voilà! Productivity. Happiness. Nirvana.
Don’t buy it.
Wirecutter, The Times’s product recommendation service, tests many of the wares that clog Americans’ social media feeds. And while our testers do like some, these products are often built on empty promises. In today’s newsletter, I’ll explain how e-commerce, a $6 trillion global industry, became choked with junk.
Paid to sell
Online shopping can expose people to a greasy influencer economy. Influencers often join affiliate-revenue networks, such as Amazon’s. When an influencer’s follower clicks a link and buys something, the influencer makes money. That’s why people on your social media feed are crowing about their 10 favorite Amazon finds or talking about how an expensive gizmo has changed their life.
Many influencers have another incentive: Brands pay them to hawk stuff. Some people with large followings make deals for tens of thousands of dollars per post. Then, when enough people like or share a post, TikTok, Instagram and YouTube algorithms push it to more people. The result is a blizzard of gadgets.
Consider these spin scrubbers , pitched online as the solution to all of your cleaning woes. “In videos , these devices churn up rings of soap suds, implying they are lifting away all the filth beneath them,” writes Ellen Airhart, Wirecutter’s cleaning expert.
In reality, they’re the worst cleaning tools we’ve ever tested. Ellen spent six hours trying to scour a soap-scum-covered shower and a toothpaste-crusted sink with two spin scrubbers popular on TikTok. They splattered water everywhere and often cost upward of $50. Instead, Ellen recommends a humble $1 sponge.
Products making the rounds on social media are often manufactured by small companies and come with unhelpful guidance or lousy warranties. This is true of the Pipersong Meditation Chair , hailed as the solution for restless sitters, thanks to its rotating footstool.
Well, I tested it. And as I was pretzeling myself into the thing, which lacks solid back support or armrests, I knew most people wouldn’t find it to be worth the $400-plus price tag.
Even viral products from reliable brands can be mediocre. Stanley tumblers are in vogue . And yet, they spill. A lot. The leaks haven’t stopped 10 million units from being sold since 2020. Hordes of people stampeded Target to nab one in a recent trending color.
Avoid getting duped
As an editor at Wirecutter, I take my job of testing and recommending products seriously. I never want anyone to spend their hard-earned money on garbage. Here’s how to avoid being hoodwinked:
Search the product’s name on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or Reddit. Are the influencers all saying the same thing? And does what they’re saying sound like marketing copy?
Look for the hashtags #ad, #sponsored or #partner on the post to see if the recommender is being compensated by the brand. If the influencer doesn’t disclose that arrangement, the Federal Trade Commission could issue a fine.
Check influencers’ bios or LinkedIn profiles for credentials. Do they show a background in this area? Have the creators shown their testing methods? Do they even have testing methods?
Read one-star Amazon reviews to see if any consistent flaws jump out.
See if a trusted person or publication also recommends this product.
Not all influencers are scurrilous peddlers. Some creators use their expertise to vet products and give reliable advice. But it’s important to spot the difference.
There are so many wonderful, truly helpful and well-made buy-it-for-life products, such as the sturdy Lodge cast-iron pan and Darn Tough hiking socks , which come with a lifetime warranty. Don’t waste your time and money on overhyped trends.
More about Wirecutter: Our journalists have no financial relationship with the companies that make or sell the products that they review. They instead use an exhaustive testing process to choose the products they recommend. After that, Wirecutter’s commerce team may negotiate fees with the affiliate-revenue networks.

Does the anti-abortion movement still have a cohesive strategy?
No. When Trump said he wouldn’t support a federal ban, it was “the most pro-choice position of any Republican presidential nominee in two generations, and all the largest pro-life groups continue to bend the knee,” Times Opinion’s David French writes .
Yes. Anti-abortion supporters need to maintain a moderate position and prioritize winning elections now before turning their attention to a nationwide abortion ban. “This is a marathon, not a sprint,” Mark Davis writes for The Fort Worth Star-Telegram .

TALK | FROM THE MAGAZINE
By David Marchese
I’ll be part of a new Q. and A. franchise, The Interview, that debuts next week. In the lead-up, I’ve been sharing some of my favorite past conversations. This one, the first I ever did for the old Talk column, is with Meg Ryan, the great romantic comedy star. I spoke to her in 2019, at a time when she had been out of the public eye for a while.
Were you happy with the work available to you as you got older? Would you have felt more compelled to keep exploring acting if those opportunities were good?
I’m sure the same opportunities did not present themselves in my 40s that did in my 30s and 20s. I get offers to do things now, but they’re not things I want to do. I have so much admiration for actors who have incredible imagination for life or have life experience that they can then bring to the audience. I don’t think I was one of those people.
Was backing off from show business part of coming to terms with a fundamental ambivalence about your career that had always been there?
Nora [Ephron] used to tell me, “Just because you have fame problems doesn’t mean you don’t have a problem.” I like the famous I am now: I walk into other people’s paparazzi photos, but I can also get a restaurant reservation.
What have you learned about how power works for women in Hollywood?
I don’t think I took advantage of the power that I had. Somewhere in the middle of my time in Hollywood, I did have a production company and produced movies, but it felt exhausting. I kept thinking: What is this thing about having it all? Why do we want that? Don’t we just want to be happy in our independent pursuits?
