Grandparents’ Day Speech Ideas

Our grandparent’s role in our lives, what grandparents teach us, how our grandparents strengthen our families, our grandparents as inspiration, use a powerful or memorable entrance, follow a structure, be laidback and relatable, celebrate your grandparents.

We all had the experience of sitting on our grandparents’ laps, as they tell us stories of the world in their prime. More than being our solid supporters and reliable allies, they serve as living reminders of our families’ rich culture and humble beginnings. Aside from giving them presents for Grandparents’ Day, we thought it would be great to commemorate them with a speech. Whether you do it over a candlelit dinner or a small gathering at home, it would be a good idea to send your message across with the help of the celebrants’ grandkids.

We’ve put together this article to help you come up with a speech that will make your grandparents feel special.

What to Say in Your Grandparents’ Day Speech

If you want to make sure you don’t miss anything when writing your speech, first consider what you need to mention. Whatever those may be, realize that you don’t always get the opportunity to thank them for all they’ve done. So, we suggest maximizing this chance to say all you need to and more.

If you’re looking for some of the most common ideas, here they are below.

Our Grandparents serve as our second parents, always treating us with genuine love and care.

Grandparents play such an important role in the family and in our own lives. And, discussing their role should be one of the first things you mention in your speech. This will let your grandparents know that you recognize them, and you’re thankful for their sacrifices and all they’ve done.

Because of the years and experiences they’ve lived through, our grandparents offer us the best advice. If you’re looking for a way to return the favor, you can share the lessons you’ve learned from them through this speech.

Depending on your family’s beliefs and interests, their actual words of wisdom may vary. However, talking about this will let them know that you respect and value whatever it is they teach you.

Give credit to your grandparents for giving birth to the family you have now. Their guidance and presence alone gives us all the reason to come together and celebrate—especially when it’s about how they’ve kept the family united and strong throughout the years.

On a day like Grandparents’ Day, mention the ways in which they have kept the bonds tight between your family. Tell them how you appreciate them for being the foundation of your home. Finally, let them know how much their actions incite you to share the love with one another.

Last but not the least, our grandparents are the role models of our lives. They’re considered as the ones we look up to and those who we seek when we’re in doubt. Since they’ve seen and been through it all, this gives them perspective on the world around us and the lives we lead, making them our source of inspiration.

Celebrate this by talking about how they’ve impacted your life, and how they’ve helped spark the flame inside you. Let them know how they’ve pushed you to chase your passions, helping you get where you are now. In doing so, they will realize how much they’ve enriched your lives. This will fill their hearts with happiness, knowing that they were able to do their part as grandparents.

How to Write a Speech for Grandparents’ Day

Now that we’ve given you some hints on what to include, let’s go over the technical aspects of writing one. If this is your first time, keep on reading for some tips on how to write your own Grandparents’ Day speech.

The audience’s eyes will be on you, as they try to anticipate what your speech is about and what your first words will be. It’s important to use a captivating or memorable introduction to grab your audience’s attention. This will also set the tone for the rest of your speech.

Follow a structure to make it easy for people to listen to your speech. This ensures that your entire talk will have a proper flow, starting from your introduction to your conclusion. This also makes sure that you’re always one with your audience, allowing your speech to be that much more effective.

When delivering your speech, it helps to level yourself with your audience. Doing so will make them pay attention and find you a joy to listen to. It helps to use ice breakers and throw in a bit of humor to lighten the atmosphere.

Just as it’s important to start your speech well, it’s imperative to finish strong. Your final words, or the conclusion of your speech, are one of the last things your audience will remember. So, you will want to use a remarkable punch line or a meaningful anecdote that will tie it all together.

Speech Ideas for Grandparents’ Day

At this point, you may already have an idea on what and how you’re going to write your speech. To give you an example of how it looks, here are two different kinds of templates you can use as inspiration.

When I was younger, my grandparents taught me to never hold back in telling someone I love them. They taught me that life was short, and to make the most of my days, cherishing those who chose to stay in my life.

Because of all their valuable teachings, it made me the strong person standing before you. Hadn’t they been there for me to serve as my rock and my shield, I wouldn’t have achieved all that I did, and I definitely wouldn’t have been proud of where I’m at. It is through my grandparents that I’m able to stand strong in the face of adversity, as they helped me get back on my feet every time I fell.

I know I’m not the only one blessed to live with their guidance. In fact, they so graciously enriched our entire family, too, with their loving presence. That’s why on a day like today, I felt the need to pay a short, yet meaningful tribute to the ones who’ve had one of the most beautiful influences in my life.

Thank you, my dear grandparents. You have touched and shaped our lives more than you can ever imagine. And for that, we are eternally grateful. May you live the rest of your lives doing what makes you happy, and we all want you to know that this wonderful family we have now wouldn’t be possible without you.

Happy Grandparents’ Day!

In all of my life, I haven’t been treated with the same love and appreciation as much as my grandparents have. Unlike the rest of the world, whom I feel stare at me with prejudice and animosity, my grandparents brought me up as if I were the greatest gift they have ever received. They have deliberately looked past all my flaws and imperfections.

As the years flew by, I grew up and lived my life the way I wanted to. I left my home to chase my dreams, in search for my passions and what will keep me going. Yet, through all those years I was away, it was my grandparents who always made me feel like I was so close to home, and in a safe place. Because of them, I was able to keep pushing towards my goals, knowing there were people who believed in me, counting on my return back home.

Today, as I stand before you, I can’t say that I’ve already made it, but I’m on my way. If it weren’t for them who have had my back all this time, who knows where I would be now or what I would’ve accomplished? All I know is that my grandparents, who once could barely let me out of their sights, set me free so I can find myself in this world full of uncertainty.

It was their love, which gave me the opportunity to seek the world in all its glory, just so I can be who I am and just so I can be whole. For these reasons, and for all the love and support they’ve showered me and the rest of the family all these years, we are grateful.

We love you, and we can never thank you enough, our dear grandparents!

Celebrating your grandparents’ lives through a meaningful speech is a great way to touch their hearts, and let them know how you truly feel inside. With our tips and templates, we hope you now have a clearer idea of how to put your own speech together.

Just remember not to feel pressured about trying to make it sound all nice and professional. At the end of the day, your grandparents will appreciate you for putting in the effort to make them feel special. After all, the true message of your speech is what will resonate within their hearts forever.

That’s it from us for now. But from the bottom of our hearts, we wish all of your grandmas and grandpas a Happy Grandparents’ Day.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Good Morning!

Today, I am honoured to speak on a topic that hits close to home for each one of us, ‘Grandparents Day’. This special day is not just a day, but a tribute to the foundation of our families, our grandparents.

Our grandparents are the roots of our family tree. They are the ones who started the journey that has shaped us. They are reservoirs of wisdom, who shower us with love, patience and warmth. 2-minute Speech on Grandparents Day

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am honored today to stand before you as we gather here to commemorate the roles of our beloved grandparents in our lives. Grandparents Day is not just an occasion but a celebration of years of love, care, wisdom, and heritage that our grandparents provide.

Grandparents, they say, are like the roots of a tree, providing strength and nourishment to every branch. They are our link to the past and a bridge to our future. They are often the ones who tell us stories of days gone by, introducing us to our heritage and enabling us to maintain a connection with generations that came before us. They are our first, and sometimes, the best teachers. They guide us, not just through their words, but through their actions, their values, and their resilience.

Many of us were fortunate enough to get our first taste of unconditional love from our grandparents. Their hugs have this magical property of curing the worst pains and their smiles have the power to light up our gloomiest days. They are our best friends when we are young, our mentors during our teenage years, and our confidants as we grow older.

Grandparents are not just about spoiling their grandchildren with love and gifts. Behind those twinkling eyes are reservoirs of wisdom gathered through years of experience. They teach us valuable life lessons that no book can impart. They teach us about the importance of family, of sticking together through thick and thin, and of giving back to society. Their stories and advice help shape our personalities, guiding us to be better individuals.

But we often forget one significant thing about Grandparents Day – it is not just a day for us to express our love and gratitude to our grandparents. It is also a day for them to feel cherished, valued, and loved. It is a day for them to realize that they are not alone, that their wisdom is not forgotten, and that their love is not unappreciated.

Times have changed, and so has our lifestyle. We are so caught up in our fast-paced lives that we often forget to spend time with our grandparents. And that’s where the significance of Grandparents Day comes in. It serves as a reminder for us to make time for our grandparents, to listen to their stories, to seek their advice, and to express our love towards them.

So, let’s use this day as an opportunity to express our love and gratitude to our grandparents. Let’s make them feel special and appreciated. Let’s ensure they know how much we value their presence in our lives. But most importantly, let’s make a promise to ourselves – a promise to take care of our grandparents just as they took care of us when we were young.

Before I conclude, I would like to say that every day should be Grandparents Day. Let’s not wait for a special day each year to express our love for them. Let’s love them, respect them, and treasure them every day. After all, grandparents are not just a part of our lives, they are the heart and soul of our families.

Thank you, and Happy Grandparents Day to all!

We need to be emotionally and physically be present for them whenever they need us. We need to understand that technologies back then were not advance, and we need to be patient with them when teaching them something.

Remember that they patiently handled all your mischiefs, and they taught you the crucial lessons of your life, and they are your superheroes. With age, they tend to say the same things more than once, and we need to deal with them calmly because all they need is a little love and affection.

Though spreading love is not a barter system, but whenever you think that they are being annoyed, remember what mess you used to create as a child, and you will see dealing with them becomes a lot easier.

They are the most precious assets we have in our life, and they are the reason for us being the human being we are today.

My Grandparents Essay

  • Essay on My Grandparents

Grandparents are a tremendous blessing in our lives. They are responsible for the characteristics of our parents. Our parents are incredibly loving and take care of us in the same way that our grandparents did when they were young because of the upbringing they received. In addition, grandparents are a source of support.

200 words essay on my grandparents, 500 words essay on my grandparents, my grandparents.

My Grandparents Essay

My grandparents are really special to me. I hold them in high esteem. They have done beyond and over for me. I will always be thankful for all of their help and kindness. They are the coolest people one will ever meet since they are updated with all knowledge about computers, technology, the internet, and other related topics.

They are the sort of individuals with whom you can discuss anything, even sensitive or confidential matters. In addition to being a buddy, my grandfather is also the finest teacher I have ever had. He has taught me all I know today. He made learning enjoyable for me and never gets upset with me when I mess up. He played a part in helping me realise my goals.

My grandparents are adorable, kind, wise, and understanding. They have always taught me to respect elders and taught me how to live an honourable and prosperous life. They serve as my role model and have always supported me in all aspects of my life. They give their insights that can direct me toward living a good life. I don't have to worry about anything because they are helping me make decisions. My grandparents are 70 and 73 years old, respectively. They still appear to be young in heart and do not appear to be as elderly as other persons their age. They read books, newspapers, and magazines frequently, which contributes to their strong general knowledge.

Why I Love Them

I feel really fortunate to have such kind, endearing, and special grandparents. Every day I learn a lot of new things. They serve as my inspirations. Therefore, they are older now, they still serve as the foundation of our family. I respect my grandparents because they instilled moral principles and ideals that have aided me in everyday life. They both take great care of their physical and mental well-being. They constantly practise yoga and meditation to stay active at their age. They have always cared about my health and urged me to live a healthy lifestyle.

My grandparents' personalities are fascinating. They were always an important role model for me. Throughout the day, they are energetic and active constantly. Everyone in our family adores them. They have a limitless affection for us. They frequently interact with others with a lot of love and caring.

My grandfather regularly takes early walks. He speedily crosses our neighbourhood park every morning as soon as he gets out of bed. He returns and settles down to read one of his favourite books on the lawn. My grandparents share their tales with me. I can never feel down when they are around. My grandparents were the ones who first instilled in me the value of comedy. They both significantly contributed to my character development, and I am grateful to have them in my life.

I seemed to have great luck growing up at my grandparents' home. Since I was a child, our family has lived with my grandparents. I only have a few recollections of my paternal grandpa because he went away when I was a very little child. He used to clean his teeth twice a day without fail. I developed this practice and have continued to do so ever since.

My real support systems have been my maternal grandparents. I am privileged to have been raised by such wonderful people. My grandpa constantly emphasised the value of education because he was a college principal. When my parents were away, he helped us with my homework.

Similarly, my grandparents greeted me with open arms every time me and family visited them. Every holiday, they used to wait for us to come. We loved the delicious dinners and pickles that my grandma cooked. She also taught me several recipes and helpful advice that I still use today. I appreciate my grandparents for teaching moral principles to both my parents and me and for providing a secure environment for us to grow up in.

I learned the fundamental principles of life from my grandparents. They have taught me the true meaning of goodness, love, and affection. They boosted my willpower and helped me become a better person. They are incredibly dear to me. And he has improved our life in so many different ways. I appreciate having them near me.

I Love My Grandparents

I never needed to form friends because my grandparents were my best friends. Thus I never felt the urge to do so. They protected me from my parents whenever I did something wrong. Together, we played many indoor and outdoor activities like cricket, Ludo, and hide and seek.

My granddad and I ride bikes around the neighbourhood and to the park. When I'm bored, he is always willing to play with me. He sings songs and gives me general advice. My grandmother is a positive person. She always smiles and is ready to make what I desire. I enjoy making jokes with them and getting pampered by them. My grandmother taught me how to behave appropriately and looked after me when I was ill. My grandfather buys all the foodstuffs I like.

My Grandparents

Essay No. 01

Children adore their parents so what do they feel for their grandparents who are nothing but parents with a whole lot of icing! Forever patient, forever kind and forever spoiling, grandparents make children feel important and secure. My grandparents were all that and more.

As a child I was closest to my maternal grandfather. He would spoil me rotten, tell me stories, buy me candy, take me for walks, listen patiently to all that I had to say and most importantly, save me from Mom! I lost my paternal grandmother, unfortunately, when I was very young. She was the epitome of kindness, I was told. My paternal grandfather lived with my aunt in Canada and we saw him but once a year, gathered all his magnanimous gifts, said a solemn thank you and stayed away. He was a man of few words who had spent his life time toiling for a very large family (siblings and their families included). My maternal grandmother was strict and we always got into trouble with her. I lost my maternal grandfather when I was fourteen after which I got closer to both my maternal grandmother and paternal grandfather. The former died a few years later but only after our lovely relationship blossomed. The latter remained my dearest friend, philosopher and guide and stayed with me till he was a hundred, two years ago. I really have been fortunate to be blessed, thus.

“What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance. They give unconditional love, kindness, patience. humor, comfort, lessons in life and, most importantly, cookies.”

Essay No. 02

If you have grandparents, you are indeed lucky! I have two sets of them—my father’s parents, and my mother’s parents. My grandparents on my father’s side live with us.

My grandfather goes for a long walk in the morning and on the way back he picks up the milk bottles. My grandmother is busy in the kitchen since my mother goes out to work.

In the evening, we all sit down together and fell each other about the day’s happenings. Granny tells us interesting stories about her youth while Grandpa talks seriously with my father. I can’t imagine my family without my grandparents.

Once in a while, my mother’s parents visit us. You should see my mother then! She is all smiles, bustling about in the kitchen, making tasty dishes. She even forgets to tell me to study!

We all have a wonderful time, for granny always brings fantastic gifts and is full of life and laughter. She really loves us. Grandpa too, although quiet, is very affectionate. He is a wizard in Math’s and whenever he comes I ask him to teach me.

When both the grandfathers get together it is great fun listening to them. The grandmothers’ conversation deals with how good their son and daughter are, and the grandfathers talk of the freedom struggle and how the country’s standards are going down.

As I said before—you are indeed lucky if you have grandparents!

Key Points To Note: Essay On Grandparents For Lower Primary Classes

10 lines on grandparents for kids, a paragraph on grandparents, short essay on grandparents for kids, long essay on grandparents for children.

No one loves kids more than their grandparents! Grandparents pamper and shower affection all the time. And, they are the ones who teach good values to their grandkids, guiding them to become good people. Therefore, it is no wonder that every kid their grandparents are special. Whether maternal or paternal, grandparents symbolise kids’ love, fun, guidance, and happiness. For kids and the whole family, grandparents are the guiding lights that steer them in the right direction. So, writing an essay on grandparents is exciting for kids.

Though my grandparents’ essay is an exciting essay topic for kids, young kids may still find it a bit difficult to write. To help them write a perfect my grandparents’ essay, we have here a few pointers. Here are some key points to remember when writing an essay on grandparents for lower primary classes kids:

  • Write points related to the essay topic.
  • Add a personal touch to the essay by writing about personal feelings.
  • Write about the importance of grandparents in your life.
  • You can add brief information about grandparents’ day.
  • Remember to structure your essay coherently with an introduction, middle and conclusion.

Writing about a subject in sentences is easier than writing an essay for class 1 and 2 students. Therefore, to make them interested in writing, ask them to write sentences and proceed with the essay. Breaking down a topic in sentences also helps them express their views; later, they can convert the sentences into paragraphs.

Here are ten lines on grandparents for kids for them to take inspiration from:

  • Grandparents are the best blessing every kid can have.
  • My grandparents are always there and love me a lot.
  • They play with me, teach me and also help me learn other creative things.
  • Sometimes, my grandparents cook for me and take me out to the park when my parents are busy.
  • At night, my grandparents help me brush and read bedtime stories.
  • Not only me but my grandparents also love to play with my friends and read stories with us.
  • On weekends, with my parents and grandparents, I go to picnics and have a lot of fun.
  • My grandparents are the ones who get most worried when I am hurt or sick.
  • They inspire me to become a good person and teach me to help others.
  •  I am lucky to have such loving and caring grandparents.

Writing a short paragraph suits young kids. A short paragraph with fewer sentences doesn’t overwhelm them; they can quickly note it. Once they can write short paragraphs on various subjects, they can comfortably write longer essays.

Here is a paragraph on grandparents for young kids:

The Grand in grandparents mean more. So, everything is more to grandparents, including more love, care, guidance and fun. My love and affection for my grandparents is different. Grandparents are frequently saviours and protectors for their grandkids. In today’s world of nuclear families, grandparents are not part of the daily lives of grandkids. Still, for grandkids like me, grandparents are precious. I wait to be with them and look forward to their visits. My grandparents, too, are an important part of my life. I enjoy visiting them and treasure the times spent with them.

My Grandparents Essay For Kids - 10 Lines, Short and Long Essay

Grandparents are idols for every kid. Therefore, kids of all ages enjoy expressing themselves. However, young kids may find it hard to write essays on grandparents. Here is a short essay on Grandparents in English for kids for reference:

My grandparents are the most precious people in my life. They assist me in everything from studies to drawing to solving arguments with my friends. They always look after me and care for me. My grandparents are the ones who are the most worried about my well-being and safety. Whenever I am upset or sad, my grandma is the one who cares for me and cheers me up. Her loving hug is enough to ward off all my troubles. She softly strokes my hair while she reads me goodnight stories. My grandma bakes delicious cakes, which are my favourite delicacy. My granddad assists me in doing my school assignments. Every weekend, he takes me to the park. I enjoy seeing him feed the local cats and dogs on the street. They’re my grandfather’s closest companions. Every evening, my grandfather also teaches me how to play chess. I love spending time with my grandparents. They are the ones who always help me and guide me to do the right thing.

As kids progress in their academics, they must write longer essays. Students of higher classes are capable of expressing their views in words better. Hence, they can write long essays on grandparents.

Here is a long essay for class 3 students on grandparents:

Grandparents are the best gifts of life. They are always keeping an eye on their children and grandchildren. But in modern days, most people are losing touch with their traditions as the times change. Nuclear families have changed the dynamics of family values. However, this has also made people realise the importance of grandparents. Grandparents are the pillar that supports the whole family and takes care of their kids and kids of their kids. They bind the entire family with their love and care.

Ask any kid who loves and spoils them the most. And the answer will be the same- grandparents. The love of grandparents is reciprocated equally by grandkids. Their grandparents are the most precious, and they love them the most. Grandparents adore and lavish their grandkids with love, attention, and gifts. But they are also the first people to correct the kids when they make a mistake. With love, they guide grandkids in their lives and teach them the correct values and morals to make them better humans.

In all our lives, grandparents are indeed a blessing. They are the ones who have shaped our parents’ personalities. Our parents love and care for us the way our grandparents did when they were children because of their upbringing. Grandparents are also a source of support. Even though our parents may not support us in a few things, they are often the only people who do everything. Most significantly, grandparents have complete faith in our abilities. They are the ones that encourage us to follow our aspirations in the face of adversity. Even though some of our dreams seem incomprehensible to them, they continue to believe in us. They increase our self-esteem and enable us to perform better. Grandparents are also one of the key reasons we feel secure and protected. We know that our grandparents constantly pray for us, even if we don’t live with them.

They’re on the lookout for us. The house of their grandparents is almost everyone’s heaven. We feel at ease knowing we can always go to our grandparents’ house if needed. They assist us in various ways. Therefore, it’s no surprise that we cannot imagine our lives without our grandparents. We know our grandparents are wonderful gifts that not everyone is fortunate enough to get.

Speech on Grandparents

Grandparents Day is celebrated very fondly in every school and on this occasion the children give speeches in their morning assemblies. It is not just for the special days that the speech is given. Sometimes in the public gatherings where a lot is spoken about grandparents these special words are required to thank the grandparents for being there in the lives of our children. On this site we have shared here some examples of Speech on Grandparents that will help you in any occasion. Our short speech on Grandparents can be used at school or college level and the long speeches on Grandparents may be used by speakers other than children. The language is easy to understand with simple examples that each one can relate to. You can draw reference from our speeches and make your speech interesting for your audience.

Grandparents Speech 1

Respected Madam, teachers & my dear friends,

Today is the Grandparents day! They say for children, it is the Children’s Day every day! Very rightly said I must say! We are the centre of the attraction of our parents and stars of the eyes of our grandparents. We have heard our parents so many times say to their parents, rather complain; “you didn’t love us the way you love our children!” And do we know they are right!! Yes they are.

Our grandfather & Grandmother are a library, our very personal game centre, best cooks, best support, awesome teachers and a world full of love all packaged together in two bodily souls who seem to be always be there for us children. Grand, is the word that is most suitable to them that’s all I can say. They are the ones who have risen up our parents who are another amazing set of beings in our lives. The wrinkles on their face are the proof that they are the most experienced people whom we have in our homes. So it makes so much important for us kids to connect with them, learn what they have to teach us, learn from their experience and then build up our lives that will be all the more stronger if we do so.

The thought of going to Nani’s house is a sheer pleasure for all of us irrespective of the age, I can say this very confidently. The fun filled days, days full of happiness, enjoyment, unconditional love, free to be you and eat the best cooked special food with most loving hands. Even Dadi ma for that matter, her most favourite dialogue, “Do you know how naughty you were in your childhood, or Pad lega, let him play for a while” All these lovely moments we are able to enjoy only because we have the best set of people there for us. So next time we get busy in our schedules, get busy with our friends, phones, I-pads, x-box and parties, we must also keep some time for our grandparents. It is because of them that we all have had a great childhood. It is because of them we have great moral values. They have taught us to love unconditionally, be patient, get up & try just once more when we thought it was impossible.

Our grandparents need nothing more than love, and our little time, that we share our achievements, may be help them learn how to whatsapp the bhajan to their best friend or to watch a movie on YouTube. They are trying to catch on with our generation. So to these most adorable, most intelligent, slightly forgetful, adorable affection filled people I bow down and say, “you are my most precious possession and may you be there even for my further generations and may they be as blessed as I am today”.

Grandparents Speech 2

Good Morning to all present today! We are all gathered here to celebrate the eldership that is by all means the presence of all the goodness and positivity in any home. Grandparents are indeed providing the strongest bond in any family that keeps the members including the extended ones, closely together. Opportunity to be with uncles, aunts & cousins during vacations is the best part of everybody’s life. This luxury we get only at our grandparents’ house. So I thank all the Grandparents who took out time and altered their schedules to be here for us today to share with us their precious moments!

One who is brought up by his or her parents and grandparents is enriched doubly, by double the experience, double the love, twice the fun and two times the values and guidance they get. Grandparents bring the best out of their most cherished children’s children. Their presence in the life of their grand children is like the presence of Sun. The children, who have not seen their grandparents, are indeed the most unfortunate ones. They remain deprived of a lot of goodness and groundedness that they get otherwise. The values that are instilled in their grand children are something their parents can only dream of doing. The parents, as it is, are so very busy with their careers, making the best of everything and achieving the standards of living that we have set very high for all of us. Not that it is bad, but just that spending time with the children when they need you; makes it impossible for the parents at all the times.

But really, thank God He created grandparents! (Laughter) Yes, isn’t that true? It is only that where there are grandparents, the parents can go do what they intend to with their careers, and know that they have this very reliable back up with them for their little bundles of joy. Not that there is a shortage of nannies or crèche’s but these support machines cannot even begin to matchup with the abilities of the grandparents. I am not saying that I am comparing them to any kind of help. All I am saying is that there are families for whom it is a luxury to have grandparents. They might have grandparents living in their hometown or simply because the family migrated in a foreign country for better opportunities and grandparents didn’t. I say, that such families are simply less fortunate.

Where both the father & mother are earning, keeping a full time help is a norm, so there is no physical pressure on the grandparents who are getting older and wiser each day. That way the grand parents do not get taxed on their physical strength and are always there for the little souls who need to be loved, nurtured and looked after well. To me I see it as the second innings for the grandparents. They have fulfilled all their worldly responsibilities and are at ease with what life demands from them. So their stress levels are touching zero, well almost! Now comparing this with the parents, I see it is a life full of activity, vigour and events, so they would be behaving in a way with their kids, not by their choice but by the circumstances they are in. Naturally grandparents are huge moderators in the family. I cannot imagine a house without grandparents. Though there are a huge number of nuclear families, but I am sure if given a chance they would all want to live with their elders or get them living closer to their homes.

It goes without saying that how happy we are going to make them when we take good care of them. We get to spend time with them and in return learn a whole lot of things that no one will ever teach us. And the amount of love, care and patience that we will earn from them is immeasurable. A relation they say is always two ways. To an extent it is true I say. But when it comes to loving grand children, I say grandparents make an exception. Their love is unconditional, unbinding, pure, non demanding and above all mystical. They do not expect anything in return from their children or little grand masters. They can endlessly and tirelessly go on with their stories that seem to come out of Pandora’s Box, linking the little ones past and yet so forward, preparing them for their future. A little respect, a lot of love and care for their grandparents comes naturally to the grand children, effortlessly.

I would like to end my speech by saying this that in a house where elders are cherished and looked after well, lives God himself. Grandparents complete life’s circle of love. Someone once said, “THEY ARE A LITTLE BIT OF PARENTS, A LITTLE BIT OF TEACHER AND A LITTLE BIT OF FRIEND”.

Thank you and have a day filled with love, care and laughter.

Grandparents Speech 3

Good morning to everyone present in this room today. We are all assembled here today to celebrate the Grand Parents’ day. It is a day that we usually mark with honouring our grandparents, bringing them to schools, showing them the various talents that we as their grand children have. Through the various programs that we put up for them we tell them how important their presence is in our lives.

Today I am on stage to speak how I feel about mine. It is an honour to be here to represent all my friends and speak on their behalf too. Some of my friends are singing, some are dancing, some are reciting poems, while others are in the school choir. One thing is sure that each one of us are what we are because of the efforts of our teachers, parents and grandparents. I do take this opportunity to thank my grandmother and my grandfather for being there in my life and helping me become a better person. Each day of my life becomes very special. I come here today on this one day, out of the three sixty five days in the whole year to celebrate Grandparents’ day, but the rest of the days they are the ones who celebrate each day as children’s day. Each day they make me feel special by their various ways.

Each day I learn something new either from my grandpa or my grandma. When I go to my grandma, very easily, she teaches me how to fold clothes and help ma to keep my room tidy. Things like keeping the dirty shoes out in the shoe rack helps prevent dust and germs in the house is simply taught by my grandpa when we are back from my evening play and his evening chit-chat with his friends. On some weekends he even teaches me how to fix the plug with wire. Of course along with that I am taught never to try plugging the wire in the switchboard. All the things are carefully removed and tucked in from where they were brought. I do get to learn from them that it is really important to be gracious and courteous all the time you meet someone, even if it means wishing again and again to the same person.

When you have such gems at home, then you know that you are in a place where you know that each mistake you make, you are learning a bit more. Grandparents are people with largest hearts, because they allow you to make them!  They know that it is important for us kids to learn from our own mistakes, so they are super patient with us. Our parents however are a bit in a hurry with us at times. No I am not complaining at all, for I understand how busy they are, and it is important to not waste their time. They are working and they do have their own work pressures to deal with, just like me! When I have my exams, and my activities also need to be pursued, I am rushing here and there and also studying hard to get good marks, same way they need good marks at work too, That, my grand ma has told me.

So no worries, I do know I can be super slow and super naughty with my grandparents! (he he he) So I really thank them from the core of my heart, and each miniscule particle of me wholeheartedly thank my grandmother and grandfather for being with me all the time. I thank them for teaching me and imbibing in me the values and morals that will make me just like them, – super cool and super efficient. I love them and adore them for they are my strongest shield against any danger I may otherwise face. They are my best friends, I can share anything and everything with them, they come up with the best advice. And I thank them for being there as they are the parents of my parents and they even look like them, two sets of parents, with different bodies and age groups. Won’t you call it double the vantage for kids like me?

Grandparents Speech 4

Respected Principal, teachers, parents, grandparents and my dear friends,

Today we are all gathered on this day we fondly celebrate as Grandparents’ Day. It is my privilege to welcome all the parents and grandparents of the little and a little bigger children studying in this institution. On their behalf I extend a hearty welcome to each one of you present here today. Whether maternal or paternal, grand parents have a very very important role to play in their grand children’s lives. The parents of both the families are equally cherished and loved and are yearned to be with by the little darlings.

In this era of today, the grand parents and their role so to say in the lives of their grand children have changed. Today’s grandmother may be a working Grand mom, from being a business woman to a great designer. And so may be there grand pa, who has just retired from a very active career.  He may be an army officer or a manager in an organisation or simply a businessman. They come in all sizes, colors and shapes! But one thing that is constant is the love they feel and shower on their grandchildren. Grand means large or great. It also means illustrious, dignified, and magnificent. These are all the adjectives I would use to describe them. It is what they have inside them that make them special for every kid. Even a shoe maker on the road side would be the best grandfather. He may be the one who had saved money from his lunch to buy his grandson favourite cycle or a toy. For his grandchild, he is his super Hero and would fulfil all his demands and dreams.

And then comes the time, when the children grow big. They keep getting busier and busier and slightly drawn away, getting involved in their lives and careers. For grandparents their grandchildren are their whole world, after they have raised their own kids. Grand parents’ thus have played their role well, twice! An inning well played and yet another one played equally well! They have tremendous patience and unlimited supply of loving care. These big grownup children do need their grandparents still, as much as they needed them when they were babies. The invaluable advice they get from them, the insight, their instincts & judgement are unmatched. In the fabric of life the parents and grandparents are the warp & the weft and children are the beautiful motifs. So it makes it essential for each one of us, as the member of our family, to take great care of each other and our needs, whether emotional or physical. I am sure all the families who live together in a joint family do exactly that. I am reminded of messages that I receive each day on my whatsapp that teach me moral values, teach me how important it is take good care of my grandparents, actually, in my case my parents. It is over whelming to see and read all those. When I look around I am happy to see so many children doing that is required, in  their little ways of teaching their grandpa how to book a ticket through internet on the railways website, or teaching their grand ma how to interact with her other grandchildren or daughters through Skype, or other video calls. It is kind of cute how they learn and adapt just like our little darlings are doing now in their class.

So on this occasion of grandparent’s day, I am happy to see all the grandparents who took out time for their grand children and came with them to see the show they have put up, with the help of their teachers, parents, and in some cases, grandparents themselves. We celebrate this day to mark the importance of the relation that holds a very important meaning in the lives of the little stars we teach and help prepare for a beautiful tomorrow. If we are the sculptors, you are the ones who provide us with the best of the material we require. Together we mould them as a strong, well built, amazing piece of God’s creation, each one having his or her own positives and negatives. We are but human – “To err is human and to forgive is God.” So despite of our best efforts and intentions, there is always a scope for improvement in each person, including me and you. Thus focusing on the positives alone, I remain indebted to the Great people without whom the grooming of the little children would be incomplete. Thank you grandparents for being the part of your grand children’s lives and I hope your much cherished support will be there always guiding your grandees like a lighthouse that shows the ship its way even on a stormy night. Your guidance and love makes them strong each day. Thank you!

speech on grandparents in 150 words

Good morning to the Principal, the excellencies, the respected teachers, our guest of honor, and my dear friends.

We have all gathered here to celebrate this special occasion, and I would like to take the opportunity of delivering an important speech on Grandparents.

There is a very special feeling of being a grandparent, and there is a unique and beautiful bond between a grandparent and their grandchildren. With time, the bond gets stronger and meticulous nutrition is done. When there is a child born in the family, the grandparents are generally more excited than the parents.

They are the root of a strong family. With their infinite amount of knowledge and experience, they can provide us with the guidance we need. They pass onto us the important life values they have learned from their lives to help us become a better individual.

But nowadays, most families are nuclear families and grandchildren no longer have the opportunity to live with their grandparents. Even during the holidays, some parents are stuck with their work, and they fail to take their kids to their grandparents; however, spending time with grandparents is vital.

They are also responsible for the character development of a child, and the process of a child growing up is incomplete with them.

The taste of the food and the aroma fills up one’s heart when their grandmother or grandfather cooks cannot be put together in words as it is a different experience. The stories that they tell are thrilling and fulfilling. The sweater woven by our grandmother holds a very special place in our hearts. All these little instants are so beautiful, and maybe this love gives us the courage and inspires us to move forward in our lives.

The positivity that the grandparents spread, the tremendous patience that they show while taking care of us, handling our mischiefs, unconditionally loving us, and scolding us whenever needed is unmatchable.

When we grow up, it is our responsibility to take care of these amazing people who give up their time to be a part of our childhood so that we are always looked after.

Speech for Grandparents

Short Speech on Grandparents 150 words in English

Good morning to the ones present here.

I am happy to have the opportunity to address today’s gathering and present my speech on Grandparents.

They are our role models, and they inspire us in ways known and unknown. Our Grandparents play a major role in our lives, and their stories of hardships and struggle make us stronger and give us the positive energy of not losing hopes and moving on in life.

They are like our motivators and cheerleaders, and they give in a very bit to construct our dreams and make us realize our self-worth. Their wide range of knowledge, they are the best mentors we can have in our lives.

The bond that exists between grandchildren and grandparents is beautifully strong. The level at which they emotionally connect to us is amazing.

Her smile makes her the prettiest lady on this earth. She carries all the burdens on her shoulders but never forgets to carry the smile. She taught me how to overcome all the struggles of life. She has taught me to respect the elders and the youngsters. The stories she told me every night have a strong meaning hidden behind it.

My grandmother is the eldest member of my family and takes care of my entire family. She is one of the reasons behind all the success I have achieved in my life. I have learnt how to pay respect to my elders and do great in my life from her. She is the prettiest lady who takes care of the entire family selflessly. I feel I am the luckiest person to have my grandmother with me. I have seen her since my childhood, and she carries the same smile on her face. She is 70 years old now, but she takes the burden of the whole family and still remembers all the stories which she had learnt in her childhood. She narrates the same stories to me every night, which have happy endings with strong morals. Because of her, I have understood the reality of life, and now I know how to lead a successful life ahead and overcome all the hurdles.

We are a family of 10 members, but she calmly handles everyone and takes care of everyone with lots of love. She is perfect at her work and never finds an excuse for not doing her work. She never fails to narrate the same stories to me every night, and she makes sure that I understand the morals hidden in the stories. She knows how to brainstorm my mind when I am not in the mood to study. If I am successful in my life today, then most of the credit goes to her. Since my parents were working, she was the one who took the best care of me. Even though she is not a professional teacher, she used to teach me maths and science, and after that, I never forgot the formulae she taught me. Even today, she takes care of my father like a small child. My behaviour and mannerism are appreciated only because of her. I could do well in the exam only because of her guidance.

My grandmother is the eldest member of my family; she is 70 years old now but looks as if she is just 20 years old. She takes good care of the entire family and makes sure that everyone lives peacefully in the family. I live in a joint family of 10 members, and my grandmother is the one who takes care of everyone with lots of patience. She still takes care of my father and his brothers like small children. At this age, she is still so perfect at her work and never gives an excuse for her work. She still remembers the stories she had heard from her grandmother, and she narrates the same to my cousins and me every night. She makes sure that we think about the story and find the moral of it. Every story she narrates has a beautiful moral hidden behind it. Those morals give us teachings for the rest of our lives. She knows how to brainstorm my mind when I am not in the mood to study. If I am successful in my life today, then most of the credit goes to her. She used to teach me Maths and Science during my school days because my parents were working. Even though she is not a professional teacher, she is the best teacher I have ever got. I still remember the formulae she taught me during my childhood. She is one of the reasons behind my success. If I am appreciated today for my behaviour and good manners, it is only because of her. She taught me how to be respectful to elders.

Speech on Generation Gap

A very hearty Good morning to all my teachers and students present in the auditorium. With the help of the Speech on Generation Gap, I would like to draw your attention to an important phenomenon “Generation Gap”.  Generation Gap means different persons taking birth in different time periods.  Also, we can understand it as to how one generation varies from the other. Since the time is changing; human-beings have evolved and become more advanced and developed than the earlier ones. This is what has created the Generation Gap.

Well, this gap is very natural to exist. But is it friendly or creating worries in the parent-child relationship today?  Unfortunately, it has been seen to have an adverse effect on the relations between the kids and their parents. The two generations have conflicts in opinions, ideologies, traditions, and customs.

While the former have traditional ways of thinking, the latter refuses to accept them. Thus, it is very important to bridge this gap to develop a strong bond of love and happiness in families. Only by bridging this gap, we can cherish the beautiful relations gifted by God to us.

Effect of Generation-Gap on The Relations

As time has evolved, the youth have also developed modern ways of thinking and living. Many a time, these changes do not conform to the thinking, belief, and expectations of the parents. They want their children to follow their advice and guidelines.

However, youth is full of energy and enthusiasm. They want to explore the world. They develop a judgemental attitude. Although, they are taught to believe in some things, yet they refuse. They are ready to accept anything only on the basis of apt rationale and logic behind it.

The ideas differ and so the conflict arises. Parents feel that their children do not listen to them. Also, children feel that their parents don’t understand them. These factors cause strain in the parent-child relationship.

How to Bridge This Gap?

The generation gap is an issue that can be resolved smoothly if both generations try to understand each other views and opinions. Parents should try to maintain a friendly attitude with their children. They must appreciate their innovative ideas.

Also, the children should share some time with their parents. Moreover, they should communicate their ideas and parents should take the time to understand their viewpoints. Children should also accept the valuable guidelines given by their parents.

Each of the generations should try to understand that neither can be completely right or wrong. Both the parents and children should trust each other. Parents should respect the individual differences and thus nourish youth with care. Also, the youth must allow the parents to guide and should seek their advice.

We can fill the gap between the two generations through acceptance and understanding. Parents should communicate and build a friendly relationship with their children. Moreover, they must acknowledge the child’s efforts to explore his or her identity. The child should also trust his parents and discuss the problems faced in the process.

The parents must listen to them, understand their ways of thinking and provide valuable assistance. The child also has to understand that his parents will always advise him for good.  If this kind of mutual trust, understanding and acceptance are established between both parties, we can cope with the Generation gap very effectively.
