అటు వివాదాలు... ఇటు అంచ‌నాల‌తో కొన్నాళ్లుగా వార్తల్లో నిలుస్తూ వ‌చ్చిన చిత్రం ‘ప‌ఠాన్’ (Pathaan). అగ్ర క‌థానాయ‌కుడు షారుఖ్‌ ఖాన్ ( Shah Rukh Khan ) నుంచి నాలుగేళ్ల త‌ర్వాత  ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకొచ్చిన పూర్తిస్థాయి చిత్రమిదే. షారుఖ్ క‌మ్‌బ్యాక్ చిత్రంగానూ, య‌శ్‌రాజ్ స్పై యూనివ‌ర్స్ చిత్రంగానూ  సినిమాపై మొద‌ట్నుంచే అంచ‌నాలు పెరిగాయి. ‘బేష‌ర‌మ్ రంగ్‌...’ పాట‌లో క‌థానాయిక దీపికా ప‌దుకొణె (Deepika Padukone) క‌నిపించిన విధానం వివాదాల్ని రేకెత్తించింది. మ‌రి సినిమా ఎలా ఉంది?  షారుఖ్ అభిమానుల్ని మెప్పించాడా? తెలుసుకునే ముందు క‌థేమిటో చూద్దాం.

క‌థేంటంటే: ప‌ఠాన్ (షారుఖ్‌ ఖాన్‌) ( Shah Rukh Khan ) గుండెల నిండా దేశ‌భ‌క్తి ఉన్న రా ఏజెంట్.  ఓ సంఘ‌ట‌న త‌ర్వాత అజ్ఞాతంలో ఉంటాడు. భార‌త‌దేశం ఆర్టిక‌ల్ 370ని ర‌ద్దు చేశాక దేశంపై దాడికి వ్యూహం ప‌న్నుతాడు పాకిస్థాన్‌కు చెందిన ఓ అధికారి. అందుకోసం ప్రైవేట్ ఏజెన్సీ ఔట్‌ఫిట్ ఎక్స్ చీఫ్ జిమ్ (జాన్‌ అబ్రహం) (John Abraham)ని రంగంలోకి దింపుతాడు. జిమ్ కూడా ఒక‌ప్పుడు భార‌త‌దేశం త‌ర‌ఫున ఏజెంట్‌గా ప‌నిచేసిన‌వాడే. మ‌రి ఎందుకు శ‌త్రువుల‌తో దోస్తీ చేశాడు? భార‌త్‌పై వైర‌స్ దాడికి సిద్ధమైన జిమ్‌ని ప‌ఠాన్ ఎలా ఎదుర్కొన్నాడు? వీరిద్దరి మ‌ధ్యకు పాకిస్థాన్ ఐ.ఎస్‌.ఐ ఏజెంట్ రూబై (దీపికా ప‌దుకొణె) (Deepika Padukone) ఎలా వ‌చ్చింది? ఆమె క‌థేమిటి? ఆమె ఎవ‌రికి, ఎలా సాయం చేసిందనేది మిగ‌తా క‌థ‌. ఎలా ఉందంటే: స్పై థ్రిల్లర్ అన‌గానే క‌ళ్లు చెదిరే యాక్షన్ విన్యాసాలు, ఊహించ‌ని మ‌లుపులు లాంటివి గుర్తుకొస్తాయి. వాటిని మ‌రో స్థాయిలో జోడించి చూపించడమే.. ‘ప‌ఠాన్‌’ ప్రత్యేక‌త‌. నాలుగేళ్ల త‌ర్వాత వ‌స్తున్న షారుఖ్ సినిమా కావ‌డంతో అభిమానుల్ని మ‌రింత‌గా అల‌రించేలా హీరోయిజాన్ని జోడించారు. ఆయ‌న‌కి మరో ఏజెంట్ స‌ల్మాన్‌ ఖాన్ ( Salman Khan ) కూడా తోడై మెర‌వ‌డం ఈ సినిమాకి మ‌రిన్ని హంగుల్ని జోడించిన‌ట్టైంది. ఎప్పటిక‌ప్పుడు మారుతున్న ప్రేక్షకుల అభిరుచుల‌కి అనుగుణంగా సినిమాటిక్ ఎక్స్‌పీరియ‌న్స్ కోసం మ‌రింత గ్రాండ్‌నెస్‌ని జోడించారు. దాంతో హాలీవుడ్ మార్వెల్ సినిమాల్ని చూస్తున్న అనుభూతి ప్రేక్షకుల‌కు క‌లుగుతుంది. క‌థ, క‌థ‌నాల కంటే కూడా ఈ సినిమాకి విజువ‌ల్స్ మాయాజాల‌మే హైలైట్‌గా నిలిచింది. ఆకాశంలోనూ, మంచులోనూ, ట్రైన్‌లోనూ.. ఇలా భిన్న నేప‌థ్యాల్లో యాక్షన్ స‌న్నివేశాల్ని తెర‌కెక్కించారు. అవి ప్రేక్షకుల‌కు స‌రికొత్త అనుభూతిని పంచుతాయి. కథ‌, క‌థ‌నాలే పెద్దగా ఆస‌క్తిని రేకెత్తించ‌వు. మ‌లుపులు కూడా ప్రేక్షకుడి ఊహకు త‌గ్గట్టే సాగుతాయి. షారుఖ్‌, జాన్‌, దీపికా... ఈ మూడు పాత్రల‌కీ ఫ్లాష్ బ్యాక్ ఉంటుంది కానీ.. అవేవీ మ‌న‌సుల్ని హ‌త్తుకునేలా లేక‌పోవ‌డం సినిమాకి మైన‌స్‌గా మారింది. అలాంటి లోపాల‌న్నింటినీ స్టార్ ప‌వ‌ర్‌, విజువ‌ల్స్ కప్పిపెడ‌తాయి. షారుఖ్‌ ఖాన్, దీపిక, జాన్ అబ్రహం తెర‌పై క‌నిపించిన‌ప్పుడల్లా సినిమా మరోస్థాయిలో ఉంటుంది. ఆ మూడు పాత్రల్ని అలా తీర్చిదిద్దారు. ముఖ్యంగా షారుఖ్‌, జాన్ మ‌ధ్య పోరాట ఘ‌ట్టాలు హైలైట్‌గా నిలుస్తాయి. ఇవ‌న్నీ ఒకెత్తు అయితే స‌ల్మాన్‌ ఎంట్రీ మ‌రో ఎత్తు. విరామ స‌న్నివేశాలు, ప‌తాక స‌న్నివేశాలు పెద్దగా మెప్పించ‌వు. ఓ సైనికుడు త‌న‌కి దేశం ఏం చేసింద‌ని కాదు, తాను దేశానికి ఏం చేశాన‌నే ఆలోచిస్తాడంటూ షారుఖ్ చెప్పే సంభాష‌ణ‌లు సినిమాకి హైలైట్‌గా నిలిచాయి. (Pathaan Review)

ఎవ‌రెలా చేశారంటే: షారుఖ్‌ ఈ సినిమా కోసం స‌న్నద్ధమైన విధానం, తెర‌పై క‌నిపించిన తీరు యువ తార‌ల‌కు స్ఫూర్తిదాయ‌కం అని చెప్పొచ్చు. గతంలో కంటే మ‌రింత ఫిట్‌గా కనిపించారు. రొమాంటిక్ స‌న్నివేశాల‌తో మ‌న‌సులు దోచే ఆయన యాక్షన్‌తోనూ అద‌ర‌గొట్టాడు. ఆయ‌న‌కు, దీపికకు మ‌ధ్య వచ్చే స‌న్నివేశాలు కూడా ఆక‌ట్టుకుంటాయి. ‘బేష‌ర‌మ్ రంగ్‌...’ పాట‌తోపాటు, చివ‌ర్లో వ‌చ్చే పాట కూడా అల‌రిస్తుంది. జాన్.. జిమ్ పాత్రకి సరిగ్గా నప్పాడు. బ‌ల‌మైన విల‌న్‌గా క‌నిపించాడు. దీపికా పదుకొణె గ్లామ‌ర్‌గా క‌నిపించడంతోపాటు, పోరాట ఘ‌ట్టాల్లోనూ మెరిసింది. (Pathaan Review)

స‌ల్మాన్‌ ఓ పోరాట‌ఘ‌ట్టంలో అల‌రిస్తాడు. ప‌తాక స‌న్నివేశాల్లో మ‌న త‌ర్వాత ఎవ‌రు? అంటూ షారుఖ్‌తో ఆయన మాట్లాడే స‌న్నివేశాలు అల‌రిస్తాయి. డింపుల్ క‌పాడియా, అశుతోష్ మంచి పాత్రల్లో మెరిశారు. సాంకేతికంగా సినిమా ఉన్నతంగా ఉంది. విజువ‌ల్ ఎఫెక్ట్స్ ఆక‌ట్టుకున్నాయి. కెమెరా ప‌నిత‌నం, పాట‌లు, నేప‌థ్య సంగీతం సినిమాకి ప్రధాన బ‌లం. సిద్ధార్థ్ ఆనంద్ ఆయ‌న బృందం మంచి క‌థ చెప్పడం కంటే కూడా సినిమాలో ఉన్న స్టార్ ప‌వ‌ర్‌కి త‌గ్గట్టుగా స‌న్నివేశాల్ని రాయ‌డంలో విజ‌య‌వంతమయ్యారు. నిర్మాణం అత్యున్నతంగా ఉంది. (Pathaan Review)

Pathaan review: ‘పఠాన్‌’ మూవీ రివ్యూ.

కథేంటంటే.. భారత ప్రభుత్వం ఆర్టికల్‌ 370 రద్దు చేయడంతో పాకిస్తాన్‌ ప్రభుత్వం కోపంతో రగిలిపోతుంది. భారత్‌పై దాడి చేసేందుకు కుట్ర పన్నుతుంది. దీని కోసం ప్రైవేట్‌ ఏజెంట్‌ జిమ్‌(జాన్‌ అబ్రహం)ను సంప్రదిస్తాడు పాక్‌ జనరల్‌ కల్నల్‌. కశ్మీర్‌ని పాకిస్తాన్‌కి అప్పగించాలని, లేదంటే ఇండియాపై అటాక్‌ చేయాలని కోరతాడు. దీంతో ఇండియాపై బయో వార్‌ చేసేందుకు ప్లాన్‌ వేస్తాడు జిమ్‌. దాన్ని అడ్డుకునేందుకు రంగంలోకి దిగుతాడు ఇండియన్‌ ఏజెంట్‌ పఠాన్‌(షారుఖ్‌ ఖాన్‌). అసలు జిమ్‌ వేసిన రక్తభీజ్‌ ప్లాన్‌ ఏంటి? ఇండియాపై జిమ్‌ ఎందుకు పగ పడతాడు? పఠాన్‌, జిమ్‌కు ఉన్న సంబంధం ఏంటి? సీక్రెట్‌ ఏజెన్సీ ‘జోకర్‌’ని పఠాన్‌ ఎందుకు ఏర్పాటు చేశాడు?  రక్తభీజ్‌ ప్లాన్‌ని చేధించే క్రమంలో పఠాన్‌, పాకిస్తాన్‌ ఐఎస్‌ఐ ఏజెంట్‌ రూబై(దీపికా పదుకొణె) మధ్య ఏం జరిగింది? పాకిస్తాన్‌ కుట్రను అడ్డుకునే క్రమంలో భారత ఆర్మీ అధికారిణి (డింపుల్‌ కపాడియా) చేసిన త్యాగమేంటి? తదితర విషయాలు తెలియాలంటే థియేటర్‌లో ‘పఠాన్‌’ సినిమా చూడాల్సిందే. 

ఎలా ఉందంటే.. 'వార్' మూవీతో దర్శకుడు సిద్ధార్థ్ ఆనంద్ భారీ విజయం అందుకున్నాడు. ఆ సినిమాలోని యాక్షన్‌, ఎమోషన్స్‌.. అన్ని ప్రేక్షకులను విపరీతంగా ఆకట్టుకున్నాయి. అలాంటి దర్శకుడు షారుఖ్‌తో సినిమా అనేసరికి ‘పఠాన్‌’పై అంచనాలు పెరిగాయి. దానికి తోడు ‘ఏక్ థా టైగర్', 'టైగర్ జిందా హై'తో పాటు ‘వార్‌’ లాంటి స్పై థ్రిల్లర్స్ నిర్మించిన భారీ నిర్మాణ సంస్థ యశ్‌రాజ్‌  ఫిల్మ్స్‌  నిర్మాతగా వ్యవహరించడంతో ఆ అంచనాలు తారా స్థాయికి చేరాయి.

అందుకు తగ్గట్టే భారీ యాక్షన్స్‌ సీక్వెన్స్‌, విజువల్స్‌తో పఠాన్‌ని అద్భుతంగా తెరకెక్కించారు. అయితే కథ మాత్రం రొటీన్‌గా ఉంటుంది. యాక్షన్స్‌ సీన్స్‌, విజువల్స్‌...  ఏక్ థా టైగర్, టైగర్ జిందా హై, వార్‌ సినిమాలలో చూసినట్లుగానే ఉంటాయి. అయితే ఆ సినిమాల్లో పండిన ఎమోషన్ 'పఠాన్'లో పండలేదు. షారుఖ్‌ స్టార్‌డమ్‌తో సినిమాను లాక్కొచ్చారు. 

పస్టాఫ్‌ అంతా సాధారణంగా సాగుతుంది. జాన్‌ అబ్రహం, షారుఖ్‌ తలపడే సీన్స్‌ ఆకట్టుకుంటాయి. అయితే కథ మాత్రం ముందుకు వెనక్కి వెళ్తూ.. గందరగోళానికి గురి చేస్తుంది. రక్తభీజ్‌ను గుర్తించే క్రమంలో హెలికాప్టర్‌పై షారుఖ్‌, దీపికాలు చేసే యాక్షన్‌ సీన్స్‌ అదిరిపోతాయి. ఇంటర్వెల్‌ ట్విస్ట్‌ బాగుంటుంది. కానీ స్పై థ్రిల్లర్స్ తరహా సినిమాలు చూసేవాళ్లు ఆ ట్విస్ట్‌ని పసిగట్టే చాన్స్‌ ఉంది.

ఇక సెకండాఫ్‌ నుంచి కథలో వేగం పుంజుకుంటుంది. ప్రీక్లైమాక్స్‌ ముందు వచ్చే ఇండియన్‌ ల్యాబ్‌ సీన్‌ ఎమోషనల్‌కు గురి చేస్తుంది. ఇక క్లైమాక్స్‌లో షారుఖ్‌, జాన్‌ అబ్రహం యాక్షన్‌ సీన్స్‌ అదిరిపోతాయి. పఠాన్ కోసం టైగర్‌(సల్మాన్‌ ఖాన్‌) రావడం.. వారిద్దరు కలిసి చేసే యాక్షన్‌ సీన్‌ సినిమాకే హైలెట్‌. షారుఖ్‌ అభిమానులకు, యాక్షన్‌ సీక్వెన్స్‌ ఇష్టపడేవారికి ‘పఠాన్‌’ నచ్చుతుంది. 

ఎవరెలా చేశారంటే.. ఇండియన్‌ జవాన్‌ పఠాన్‌ పాత్రలో షారుఖ్‌ ఒదిగిపోయాడు. యాక్షన్‌ సీన్స్‌లో అద్భుతంగా నటించాడు. ఈ సినిమా కోసం షారుఖ్‌ పడిన కష్టమంతా తెరపై కనబడుతుంది. ప్యాక్డ్‌ బాడీతో కనిపించి అభిమానులను అలరించాడు. జాన్‌ అబ్రహం నెగెటివ్ రోల్‌లో అదరగొట్టేశాడు. యాక్షన్స్‌ సీన్స్‌లో షారుఖ్‌తో పోటీపడి నటించాడు. పాకిస్తాన్‌ ఐఎస్‌ఐ ఏజెంట్‌ రూబైగా దీపికా పదుకొణె తనదైన నటనతో ఆకట్టుకుంది.

షారుఖ్ ఖాన్ (Shah Rukh Khan) కథానాయకుడిగా నటించిన సినిమా 'పఠాన్' (Pathaan Movie). నాలుగేళ్ళ విరామం తర్వాత ఆయన నుంచి వస్తున్న చిత్రమిది. 'జీరో' తర్వాత అతిథి పాత్రలు లేదంటే ప్రత్యేక పాత్రల్లో తెరపై కనిపించారు. ఈ  సినిమాలో 'బేషరమ్ రంగ్...' పాటలో హీరోయిన్ దీపికా పదుకోన్ (Deepika Padukone) ధరించిన బికినీ రంగు వివాదాస్పదమైంది. మరి, సినిమా ఎలా ఉంది? 'పఠాన్'తో హీరోగా షారుఖ్ స్ట్రాంగ్ కమ్‌బ్యాక్ ఇచ్చారా? (Pathaan Review)

కథ (Pathaan Story): భారత ప్రభుత్వం ఆర్టికల్ 370 రద్దు చేయడంతో పాకిస్తాన్ కల్నల్ ఒకరు ఆగ్రహంతో రగిలిపోతాడు. దుష్మన్‌తో దోస్తీ చేసే సమయం వచ్చిందని ప్రయివేట్ ఏజెన్సీ అవుట్‌ఫిట్ ఎక్స్ లీడర్ జిమ్ (జాన్ అబ్రహం)కు ఫోన్ చేస్తాడు. కశ్మీర్ కావాలని లేదంటే ఇండియాపై ఎటాక్ చేయాలని కోరతాడు. మన దేశంపై బయో వార్ ప్లాన్ చేస్తాడు జిమ్. అతడిని ఇండియన్ ఏజెంట్ పఠాన్ (షారుఖ్ ఖాన్) ఎలా అడ్డుకున్నాడు? అనేది అసలు కథ. ఇండియన్ ఏజెంట్లకు దూరంగా కొన్నాళ్ళు అజ్ఞాతవాసంలో పఠాన్ ఎందుకు ఉన్నాడు? పాకిస్తాన్ ఐఎస్ఐ ఏజెంట్ రూబై (దీపికా పదుకోన్), పఠాన్ మధ్య ఏం జరిగింది? 'పఠాన్'కు ఆమె సాయం చేసిందా? మోసం చేసిందా? అనే ప్రశ్నలకు సమాధానాలు సినిమా చూసి తెలుసుకోవాలి. 

విశ్లేషణ : 'ఏక్ థా టైగర్', 'టైగర్ జిందా హై', 'వార్'... యశ్ రాజ్ ఫిలిమ్స్ నుంచి స్పై థ్రిల్లర్స్ సూపర్ డూపర్ హిట్ అయ్యాయి. ఇప్పుడు లేటెస్టుగా 'పఠాన్' వచ్చింది. ఈ సినిమా కూడా స్పై థ్రిల్లర్ అని, 'స్పై యూనివర్స్'లో సినిమా అని ముందే అనౌన్స్ చేశారు. యశ్ రాజ్ ఫిలిమ్స్ నుంచి వచ్చిన స్పై థ్రిల్లర్స్ గురించి ప్రేక్షకులకు ఐడియా ఉండటంతో 'పఠాన్' మీద అంచనాలు పెట్టుకున్నారు. మరి, సినిమా ఎలా ఉంది? అనే విషయంలోకి వెళితే...

'పఠాన్'లో స్టార్ పవర్ ఉంది. గ్లామర్ ఉంది. భారీ యాక్షన్ సీక్వెన్సులు ఉన్నాయి. గ్రాండ్ విజువల్స్ ఉన్నాయి. పాటలు బావున్నాయి. నేపథ్య సంగీతం ఓకే. మరి, ఏంటి? థియేటర్ నుంచి బయటకు వచ్చేటప్పుడు ఏదైనా వెలితి ఉంటుందా? అంటే... కథ గుర్తుకు వస్తుంది. యశ్ రాజ్ ఫిలిమ్స్ స్పై థ్రిల్లర్స్ సినిమాల్లో పేలవమైన కథతో రూపొందిన సినిమా అంటే... 'పఠాన్' అని చెప్పాలి. 

'పఠాన్' కథ మరీ రొటీన్ అండ్ ప్రెడిక్టబుల్. ఇంటర్వెల్ ట్విస్ట్ అయితే దర్శక ద్వయం అబ్బాస్ మస్తాన్ సినిమాల్లో (రేస్ ఫ్రాంచైజీ) ట్విస్టులను గుర్తు చేసింది. మిగతా ట్విస్టులు కూడా ఏమంత గొప్పగా లేవు. స్టార్టింగ్ టు ఎండింగ్... యాక్షన్ ఎపిసోడ్స్, షారుఖ్ స్టార్ పవర్ & మాస్ మీద మ్మకం పెట్టుకుని సినిమా తీసినట్టు ఉంది. 

'వార్'తో దర్శకుడు సిద్ధార్థ్ ఆనంద్ విజయం అందుకున్నారు. అయితే, 'పఠాన్' విషయంలోనూ తన హిట్ ఫార్ములాను ఫాలో అయ్యారు. కొన్ని విజువల్స్ & బ్లాక్స్ 'వార్'ను గుర్తుకు తెస్తాయి. అయితే... ఆ సినిమాలో ఉన్నంత ఎమోషన్ 'పఠాన్'లో లేదు. హీరోయిన్ ఫ్లాష్‌బ్యాక్ ఎపిసోడ్, ఆఫ్ఘానిస్తాన్ విలేజ్ డ్రామా ఆశించిన రీతిలో పండలేదు. ఇంటర్వెల్ ముందు వరకు సాధారణంగా ఉంటుంది. ఆ తర్వాతే సినిమాలో వేగం పెరిగింది. అంతకు ముందు హీరో ఇంట్రడక్షన్ గానీ, రెండు హెలికాఫ్టర్స్‌తో జాన్ అబ్రహం, షారుఖ్ యాక్షన్ సీక్వెన్స్ గానీ కాస్త ఓవర్ ది బోర్డు అనిపిస్తాయి. విజువల్స్ ఎఫెక్ట్స్ కొన్ని చోట్ల సరిగా లేవు. 

సినిమాలో ఒక్కటే పాట ఉంది. అదీ 'బేషరమ్ రంగ్'. ఆ సాంగ్ ప్లేస్‌మెంట్ ఓకే. రెండోది సినిమా ఎండ్‌లో వస్తుంది. నేపథ్య సంగీతం బావుంది. సినిమాటోగ్రఫీ కూడా! 

నటీనటులు ఎలా చేశారంటే? : స్టైల్, యాక్షన్, యాటిట్యూడ్, యాక్టింగ్... పఠాన్ పాత్రలో షారుఖ్ ఖాన్ ఫుల్ పవర్ చూపించారు. 'డాన్' రిలీజ్ డేస్ గుర్తు చేసేలా నటించారు. ప్యాక్డ్ బాడీతో కనిపించారు. మధ్యలో నవ్వులు కూడా పూయించారు. దీపికా పదుకోన్ గ్లామర్ & యాక్షన్ హైలైట్ అవుతాయి. రూబై పాత్రకు ఆమె న్యాయం చేశారు. విలన్ క్యారెక్టర్‌లో జాన్ అబ్రహం ఓకే. మిగతా పాత్రల్లో అశుతోష్ రాణా, డింపుల్ కపాడియా ఆకట్టుకుంటారు. 

హీరో హీరోయిన్లు, సినిమాలో ఆర్టిస్టులు అందరి కంటే ఎక్కువ ఎంటర్‌టైన్‌ చేసేది మాత్రం... ఇంటర్వెల్ తర్వాత ట్రైన్ ఫైట్ సీక్వెన్సులో వచ్చే సల్మాన్ ఖాన్. 'టైగర్' మళ్ళీ కనిపిస్తాడు. ఫైట్ కుమ్మేశాడు. కామెడీ టైమింగ్ కూడా!

చివరగా చెప్పేది ఏంటంటే? : 'పఠాన్' చూశాక... కింగ్ ఖాన్ ఈజ్ బ్యాక్ అని ఫ్యాన్స్ ధైర్యంగా చెప్పవచ్చు. షారుఖ్ ఖాన్ ఈ రేంజ్ మాస్ మూవీ చేసి చాలా కాలమైంది. ఫైట్స్‌లో ఫైర్ చూపించారు. దీపికా పదుకోన్ ఇటు గ్లామర్, అటు యాక్షన్... రెండూ చేశారు. వాళ్ళిద్దరి కోసం థియేటర్లకు వెళ్ళవచ్చు. ఫ్యాన్స్‌కు సినిమా నచ్చే అవకాశాలు చాలా ఉన్నాయి. సమ్‌థింగ్‌ స్పెషల్‌ కంటెంట్ కోరుకునే వాళ్ళకు, సాధారణ ప్రేక్షకులకు రెగ్యులర్ స్పై థ్రిల్లర్స్‌లా ఉంటుంది. నథింగ్ మోర్! షారుఖ్, సల్మాన్... ఇద్దరినీ ఒకే ఫ్రేములో చూడటం అభిమానులకు పండగలా ఉంటుంది. షారుఖ్, సల్మాన్ మధ్య చివరలో వచ్చే సంభాషణ హైలైట్.

Pathaan movie review: shah rukh khan and deepika padukone-starrer has finally got what’s needed in a spy thriller -- non-stop action, glamorous leads, the guy who can save the world, a high-octane set piece, and an emo line at a time..

First things first, Bollywood is back. Shah Rukh Khan is back. Hindi movies have been constructing the ‘desi’ equivalents of the Bond-Bourne franchise for a while now. Tiger has been ‘zinda’ in a pacy double-bill, Agent Vinod has done his bit, BellBottom has flexed and flared, but it is ‘Pathaan’ which has got the spy movie-laced-with-heavy-doses-of-patriotism bouncing off the screen, with Shah Rukh Khan acing the action avatar, flaunting the floppy-hair-glinting-aviators-eight packs (or is it twelve?) look.

That’s because it has finally cracked the requirements of an action movie — non-stop action, leavened by glamorous leads, topped by the guy who can save the world, a high-octane set piece and an emo line at a time.

Bonus: the very svelte Deepika Padukone , matching SRK stride for stride, giving stiff competition to Katrina Kaif , who kicked serious ass in Tiger 2. There’s also Dimple Kapadia, building on her blink-and-miss-role in Christopher Nolan’s ‘Tenet’, as the foxy Moneypenny equivalent. And the chief antagonist, played by John Abraham , who manages to make the most of his lines.

The plot involves a slew of spies, sardonic RAW chiefs (Ashutosh Rana), evil ISI generals and gun-toting terrorists inhabiting global hotspots. Pakistan is back eyeing Kashmir (it will never learn, will it). One of India’s own, Jim (John Abraham) has gone rogue. Gorgeous ISI agent Rubina (Deepika Padukone) is as at home in a bikini as she is in skin-tight spandex. A deadly virus, much more dangerous than Covid 19, is being cooked up in top-secret labs. There’s clear and present danger, and desh-ke-dushman crawling all over the landscape. But breathe easy, because India’s best and bravest, Pathaan (Shah Rukh Khan) is at hand.

The problem of carrying off a two-and-half hour film is evident in the places where you stifle a yawn (yes, it can happen even when everything is galloping along at break-neck speed). Just so there’s nothing missed out, we have Pathaan and Jim facing off in the air (many helicopters were hurt in the making of this film), skimming over ice-floes and under icy water, chasing each other down twisty roads. There’s some amount of roll-your-eyes silliness, par for the course for this kind of flick. Plus, the third person mention of ‘Pathaan’ starts getting tiresome (kitni baar bologe, yaar). Trust us, we got it the first time.

But the slack is gathered up quickly enough: an entire train is commandeered in the service of a special featuring Pathaan and a keffiyeh-sporting spy whose trademark moves had the audience roaring. And then there is that song which created such a controversy weeks before it hit the theatres. There really is nothing in it that we haven’t seen before (YRF songs-on-beaches should rightfully be a separate Bollywood sub-genre) but there’s no denying that Pathaan and Rubina swaying and narrowing their eyes at each other on a Spanish beach, is more a hot proposition than a potato. But let me reassure those worried: nothing besharam happens, sadly, even with nothing between them but a gun.

The film comes at a time when Bollywood, and SRK have been under siege. It’s notable how the star doesn’t go down the Rahul/Raj route which would have been safer in these times. He’s out, loud and proud, claiming his roots, as well as his professional identity built up assiduously over a good thirty years. To that end, writers Sridhar Raghavan and Abbas Tyrewala come up with lines in service of both the real and real character : meta, and fun.

‘Pathaan’ is that sateek jawaab of this beleaguered pathaan, who manages multiple feats in his come-back after a clutch of medium-bad to terrible films : gives it those ones to the #BoycottBollywood brigade, pulls off the dishy-and-dishevelled look rippling those abs, give us a laugh-out-loud moment ( I won’t ruin it for you, but it involves a line from an early SRK character, also in a YRF film, which would have become eminently meme-worthy if memes were a thing those days) and saves Bharat Mata.

యాభై ఏళ్ళకు పైగా చరిత్ర కలిగిన యశ్ రాజ్ ఫిలిమ్స్ దశాబ్ద కాలంగా స్పై యాక్షన్ మూవీస్‌పై ప్రత్యేక దృష్టి పెట్టింది. అందులో భాగంగా ఇప్పటికే ఆ సంస్థ నుంచి ‘ఏక్ థా టైగర్, టైగర్ జిందాహై, వార్’ చిత్రాలు వచ్చాయి. ఇప్పుడు ‘పఠాన్’ రూపుదిద్దుకుంది. ‘వార్’ను తెరకెక్కించిన ఆనంద్ సిద్ధార్థ్‌ ‘పఠాన్’ చిత్రాన్నీ కూడా దాదాపు అదే బాటలో నడిపాడు. ఇందులో ‘బేషరమ్ రంగ్’ సాంగ్‌తో రేగిన చిచ్చు కారణంగా అందరి దృష్టి ‘పఠాన్’పై పడింది. దేశవ్యాప్తంగా జరిగిన వాడీ వేడీ చర్చతో మూవీపై క్రేజ్ పెరిగింది. ‘జీరో’ తర్వాత షారూఖ్ ఖాన్ నటించిన సినిమా కావడంతో భారీ ఓపెనింగ్స్ లభించాయి. హిందీలో పాటు ‘పఠాన్’ తెలుగు, తమిళ భాషల్లోనూ డబ్ అయ్యి బుధవారం జనం ముందుకు వచ్చింది. మరి సినిమా ఎలా ఉందో చూద్దాం.

కథ విషయానికి వస్తే అనాథ అయిన పఠాన్ (షారూఖ్ ఖాన్) దేశాన్నే తన తల్లిగా భావిస్తాడు. ఆమె రుణం తీర్చుకోవడానికి ఇండియన్ ఆర్మీలో చేరతాడు. ఓ ఆపరేషన్ నిమిత్తం ఆఫ్ఘనిస్తాన్ వెళ్ళినప్పుడు తృటిలో చావు తప్పించుకుని కోమాలోకి వెళ్తాడు. తమ ప్రాణాలను కాపాడిన అతన్ని అక్కడి వారు సొంత బిడ్డగా ఆదరించి, ‘పఠాన్’ అని పిలుచుకుంటారు. అప్పటి నుండీ అదే అతని అసలు పేరుగా మారుతుంది. ఇదిలా ఉంటే… ఓ సీక్రెట్ ఆపరేషన్ లో చనిపోయాడని భావించిన భారత్ ‘రా’ ఏజెంట్ జిమ్ (జాన్ అబ్రహం), శత్రు దేశాలకు చెందిన ఏజెంట్స్ తో ప్రైవేట్ టెర్రరిస్ట్ ఆర్గనైజేషన్ ప్రారంభిస్తాడు. పాకిస్తాన్ కు చెందిన ఐఎస్ఐ ఏజెంట్ రుబీనా ఖాన్ (దీపికా పదుకునే) సైతం అతనితో చేతులు కలుపుతుంది. వీరంతా కలిసి భారత్ కు వ్యతిరేకంగా చేపట్టిన కుట్రను ఛేదించడానికి పఠాన్ రంగంలోకి దిగుతాడు. డాక్టర్ చదివిన రుబీనా ఖాన్ పాక్ ఏజెంట్ గా ఎందుకు మారింది? తన సొంత దేశాన్నే నాశనం చేయాలని జిమ్ ఎందుకు కంకణం కట్టుకున్నాడు? జిమ్ అండర్ లో వర్క్ చేసే రుబీనా… పఠాన్ తో ఎందుకు చేతులు కలిపింది? ఆమె సాయంతో పఠాన్ ఈ దేశాన్ని ఎలా రక్షించాడన్నదే మిగతా కథ.

ఓ దేశాన్ని నాశనం చేయాలనుకున్నప్పుడు ప్రత్యక్ష యుద్ధానికి దిగకుండా, వైరస్ తో దెబ్బ తీస్తున్న సంఘటనలను మనం చూస్తూనే ఉన్నాం. ఈ తరహా కథాంశాలతో గత కొన్నేళ్ళుగా చాలా చిత్రాలు వచ్చాయి. అయితే… స్వదేశానికి చెందిన ఓ ఏజెంట్, వ్యక్తిగత కక్షతో దీనికి పాల్పడటం, అతనికి మరో ఏజెంట్ బుద్ధి చెప్పడమే ఇందులో ప్రథానాంశం. చిత్రం ఏమంటే… ‘వార్’ సినిమా కథ కూడా ఇదే తరహాలో సాగుతుంది. తనకు దేశం అన్యాయం చేసిందని భావించిన ఓ వ్యక్తి, ఆ తర్వాత నిజం తెలుసుకుని మారతాడు. కానీ ఇందులో మాత్రం మారడు. దాదాపుగా అదే లైన్ లో ‘పఠాన్’ సాగింది. కథ మీద ఆనంద్ సిదార్థ్ మరింత దృష్టి పెట్టి ఉంటే ఇంకాస్తంత బెటర్ మూవీగా ‘పఠాన్’ ఉండేది. దాని మీద కంటే యశ్ రాజ్ ఫిలిమ్స్ హిట్ కాంబినేషన్, క్రేజీ స్టార్ స్పెషల్ అప్పీయరెన్స్ మీద ఎక్కువ బేస్ అయినట్టు అనిపించింది. ఎందుకంటే తన గత చిత్రాల ఏజెంట్ టైగర్ (సల్మాన్ ఖాన్)నూ ఇందులో రంగంలోకి దింపింది. ఈ మధ్య బాలీవుడ్ లో ఇది ఓ ట్రెండ్ గా మారింది. దేశంలోని టెర్రిరిస్ట్ కార్యకలాపాలను అదుపులోకి తీసుకురావడం కోసం అక్షయ్ కుమార్ ‘సూర్యవంశీ’ సినిమాలోకి అజయ్ దేవ్ గన్, రణవీర్ సింగ్ ను తీసుకొచ్చినట్టే… ఇందులో కూడా టైగర్ పాత్రధారి సల్మాన్ ఖాన్ ను ఓ కీలక సందర్భంలో ప్రవేశ పెట్టారు. అయితే ఆ సమయంలో ట్రైన్ మీద చిత్రీకరించిన యాక్షన్ సీన్స్ మాత్రం బొమ్మలాటలా దారుణంగా ఉన్నాయి. బట్… సల్మాన్ ఖాన్ ప్రెజెన్స్ ను మాస్ ఆడియెన్స్ ఎంజాయ్ చేస్తారు. క్లయిమాక్స్ లోనూ వీరిద్దరి మధ్య పెట్టిన సరదా సంభాషణ కూడా బాగానే ఉంది.

యశ్ రాజ్ ఫిల్మ్స్ ఈ స్పై యాక్షన్ మూవీస్ ను ఇంకా కొనసాగిస్తోంది కాబట్టి… రాబోయే సినిమాల్లో టైగర్, పఠాన్, కబీర్ పాత్రలన్నింటినీ కూడా కలిపి ఓ యూనివర్స్ లా చూపించే ఛాన్స్ లేకపోలేదు. సినిమా ప్రారంభం నుండి ముగింపు వరకూ నాన్ స్టాప్ యాక్షన్ తో ‘పఠాన్’ సాగింది. కొన్ని పాత్రలకు సెంటిమెంట్ జత చేసినా పెద్దగా పండలేదు. షారూఖ్ ఖాన్ లో మునుపటి ఛార్మ్ కనిపించలేదు. బట్ స్క్రీన్ ప్రెజెన్స్ ఓకే… అయితే అతని పక్కన దీపికా పదుకునే ఆ లోటును చాలావరకూ కవర్ చేసింది. సూపర్ హిట్ పెయిర్ అయిన వీరిద్దరి మీద రెండు పాటలే ఉండటం.. ఒకటి రోలింగ్ టైటిల్స్ పై రావటం అభిమానులను నిరుత్సాహ పరుస్తుంది. ప్రథమార్ధంలో వచ్చే బేషరమ్ పాటతో పాటు రోలింగ్ టైటిల్స్ లో వచ్చే పాట కూడా చిత్రీకరణ పరంగా బాగున్నాయి. దీపికా పోషించింది సీక్రెట్ ఏజెంట్ పాత్ర. పైగా తనకు జరిగిన అన్యాయానికి ప్రతీకారం తీర్చుకోవాలనుకునే క్యారెక్టర్. బట్ అవసరానికి మించిన అందాల ఆరబోత చేయించారు. నిజానికి ఆ పాత్రను మరింత బాగా డిజైన్ చేయొచ్చు. ఆ పని జరగలేదు. జిమ్ గా జాన్ అబ్రహం బాగా చేశాడు. ఇలాంటి పాత్రలు తనకు కొత్త కాదు. మరో రెండు కీలక పాత్రలను డింపుల్ కపాడియా, అశుతోష్ రాణా పోషించారు. సల్మాన్ ఖాన్ ఎంట్రీ అదిరింది. అక్కడి యాక్షన్ సన్నివేశాలను మరింత రియలిస్టిక్ గా తీసిఉంటే బాగుండేది. ఈ సినిమా బ్యాక్ గ్రౌండ్ మొత్తం ‘కమ్ సెప్టెంబర్’ మూవీలోని నేపథ్య సంగీతాన్నే అనుసరించటం గమనార్హం. మొత్తం మీద షారుఖ్ అభిమానులతో పాటు యాక్షన్ చిత్రాలను ఇష్టపడేవారికి ‘పఠాన్’ నచ్చుతుంది. వన్ టైమ్ వాచ్ బుల్ మూవీ కేటరిగిలో ‘పఠాన్’ను చేర్చొచ్చు.

Pathaan Review: Shah Rukh Khan Doesn't Miss A Trick In Phenomenally Entertaining Spy Thriller

Phenomenally entertaining and consistently engaging, Pathaan , for all the derivative genre components it compiles, is a spy thriller that crackles with energy. It goes the distance riding on the insouciant and cocky charm that Shah Rukh Khan, in his first full-fledged appearance on the big screen since 2018's Zero , brings to an exercise that is at once excessive and exciting.

It isn't, however, the superstar alone who propels Pathaan, which plays to the gallery with abandon. The writing by Shridhar Raghavan is smart although not everything in the unabashedly fantastical film makes total sense. Abbas Tyrewala, who peppers Pathaan with gunpowder-dry punch lines, contributes in no small measure to keeping this action-packed movie on the boil all the way till the end.

On the technical side, too, Pathaan packs a massive punch. The cinematography by Satchith Paulose is from the topmost drawer. Editor Aarif Sheikh lends the film a pacy rhythm that leaves no room for dull passages. And the pulpy panache of Siddharth Anand's directorial sleights is impressive. They combine to make Pathaan a thoroughly riveting movie that instantly gets the willing suspension of disbelief that it demands and thrives on. 

The ease is, of course, facilitated majorly by the presence of Shah Rukh Khan, who does not miss a trick in jettisoning his King of Romance persona and donning the garb of an unflappable, unstoppable action hero. He does not let the effort behind the transition show one bit. He sails through the role and the film as if this is what he was always meant to do.

The performances from most of the other principal actors - Deepika Padukone, Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana - are perfectly in tune with the style and substance of Pathaan. The film hits its straps without wasting any time. The actors, especially Deepika Padukone, do likewise, getting into the swing of things in a jiffy.   

The heroine of Pathaan is an ISI agent with a back story that makes her the inscrutable and unpredictable person she is. Her enigma ensnares the hero more than once and provides the film's biggest twists. Deepika Padukone pulls off the dual act of an irrepressible femme fatale and a committed soldier with elan.  

However, John Abraham as the very, very bad guy who has a score to settle with the nation he once served with distinction does not exude the level of menace that you would expect from a man wounded and incensed to the point of insanity.     The most striking aspect of Pathaan , a masala entertainer at heart, is that it has the gumption to go beyond the parameters of a massy movie and produce sharp, insightful moments that serve as a commentary on pressing issues of the day. It is far more about humanity than about shallow patriotism, which, coming at a time when the Mumbai movie industry thrives on the othering and demonising of communities to further a dominant political narrative, is an act of courage that deserves to be celebrated. 

Although it is essentially about people going for the jugular and centres on a villain who plans to unleash a biological weapon on civilians, Pathaan adopts a pacifist approach to war and espionage. It offers a counter-narrative to the Islamophobic thrillers and historical epics that the Mumbai industry has of late been dumping upon the audience without the slightest attempt to disguise its prejudices and propensity for falsification. 

Pathaan is in fact a far cry from Yash Raj Films' previous spy drama War, which was also directed by Siddharth Anand. Pathaan is neither jingoistic nor does it direct all its ire at one nation. It does open with a Pakistani general plotting a reprisal against India on the day of the revocation of Article 370, but the villain of the film is not a hate-spewing mullah but a venomous RAW agent gone rogue.

Although the badman's reasons are palpably faulty, he contributes his mite to the discourse that Pathaan engages in. A mercenary who works on behalf of terrorists no matter of what hue they are, he says he does not believe in the notion of a nation and borders do not matter to him. Nations and borders are created by the powerful to lull people into submission, he thunders, implying that he has broken the shackles in order to make a point.  

Jim (John Abraham), whose first appearance on the screen triggers a violent confrontation with a hero who grew up in an orphanage and owes a debt of gratitude to an Afghan family that saved him after a secret mission left him severely wounded.

When asked by Dr. Rubina Mohsin (Deepika Padukone) if he is a Mussalman (this is the only time in the film that anybody's religious identity is broached), the male protagonist reveals that he does not know who his parents were.  The nation assumed the form of a mother and sustained me, so I decided to serve the nation the way I would have served my mother if I had one, he asserts with just a hint of emotion.

He isn't a steely hero who is beyond injury and pain. He needs a painkiller when violent adversaries inflict wounds on his body. The medicine is offered to him by another member of the YRF Spy Universe in the course of a fight sequence staged in a hurtling train somewhere in Russia.

With Shah Rukh Khan joining Tiger (Salman Khan) and Kabir (Hrithik Roshan) to complete a trio of invincible YRF spies, expect a lot of big-screen explosions, extremes and extravagances in the coming years. But it is doubtful if anything would be as big, ballsy or unalloyed as Pathaan. It comes closer to what mass-oriented Hindi cinema once used to be than any other recent star vehicle has done.

There is a poetic justice in his glare. He has the physique of a spy, but it is the eyes that do most of the talking in Pathaan. After a gap of four years, Shah Rukh Khan is back on the big screen doing what he does best - charm your pants off and remind us why he’s part of a dwindling breed - the real superstars. Director Siddharth Anand, who’s best known for glamorising his stars and presenting them in what sometimes look like lavish set pieces inspired by Hollywood films, Pathaan is no departure from his signature style. If anything, it is a reminder of his previous work - the bromance laden War and the Mr and Mrs Smith desi tribute called Bang Bang ! Here, Anand serenades the audiences with scenes and imagery that is a direct tribute to some iconic Hollywood films.

Shah Rukh’s Pathaan is a shadow of Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark. He might not be as rich as Stark or have a super hero spacesuit, but his game with women and one-liners are an accurate ode to him. Similarly, Deepika’s Pakistani ISI agent act has shades of Scarlett Johansson in her action flicks. The climax and a few other action scenes too feel like blueprints picked from Hollywood films like Mission Impossible, Fast and the Furious and others. But Pathaan isn’t a wannabe film. Neither is it trying to masquerade as a Vin Diesel or Tom Cruise offering. Pathaan’s story is the first chapter in India’s first indigenous spy-verse. If the West has MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), India has its own SCU led by the trio of Tiger, Kabir and now Pathaan. The plot is laden with patriotic sentiment. A rogue agent, Jim (a very good looking John Abraham), is set to seek vengeance against India. The timing of his revenge comes at a time when India scraps Article 370, thereby triggering neighbouring country Pakistan’s sinister designs to capture Kashmir. Pathaan is now on a mission to stop Jim, but trust issues crop up for Pathaan when a sexy distraction presents itself in the form of ISI agent Rubaiya Mohsin (Deepika Padukone). Is she an ally or an enemy ? Her own backstory exposes her intent and gives the story its much-needed pre-interval twist. Heavy on action scenes and smart dialogues, the film looks sexy and sensory.

Pathaan’s second half triumphed over its first. The action pieces are devoid of logic and reason, but then again, this isn’t a documentary. It’s also the first time you watched SRK do hardcore action scenes. And the reason it works is because Anand has given him some realistic hand combat sequences with John. It’s not just jet planes zipping through midair or Ferraris skidding on ice, the action in Pathaan is bold and fearless.

Shah Rukh is the heart of Pathaan and he’s a constant reminder of why we enjoy watching him on the big screen. He sells the most bizarre plot twists with a straight face and you are charmed to buy it. Deepika Padukone needs a bonafide stand-alone action film. She truly has the physique and demeanour to do a Tomb Raider. John Abraham as the bad guy is a terrific casting choice. Once you go beyond how good he looks in Pathaan, you realise why he’s one of the greatest action heroes of our times. John has never got his due in a lot of his films. Thankfully, in Pathaan, he not only holds his ground opposite SRK but also shines with grace. The high point that everyone nervously waits for in Pathaan, which also is a major highlight of the film, is the ‘Pathaan meets Tiger’ moment. It is an absolute thrill to watch Salman and SRK in the same frame throw digs at each other while beating some goons. This will go down in the annals of cinematic history as a perfect tribute to the stardom of these two actors. The main hiccup in Pathaan is the action blocks, which sometimes gets tiring. Some portions look like they have a stunt double and others make it too obvious that they have been shot with a green mat. Recently, Hollywood actor Tom Cruise pulled off a stunt in his latest Mission Impossible film that will go down in history as the greatest love an actor can have for his craft. The 60-year-old actor did his own bike dive from the edge of a cliff. No Chroma, no body double. Just Tom on a bike doing his thing. This makes me realise that when it comes to action, we need to install a part of realism into our choreography. The other glitch with Pathaan is with some of the dialogues, SRK gets flirty with Deepika and calls her a ‘bomb’ while admitting he’s ready for a ‘blast’ as her thigh seductively grazes him. In another scene, he tries to use his comic side to rhyme the Russian currency roubles with the word ‘boobles’ while referring to a lady flaunting her clevage. Smarter writing would definitely have saved Pathaan. Pathaan is unapologetically fun. It isn’t trying to send a public service message or pass commentary on the current state of affairs. Instead, it sets the clock back to a time when a Shah Rukh Khan film at the cinemas was a moment to rejoice. In a recent #AskSRK session, the actor revealed his unfulfilled wish. He wrote, ‘Itni shakti rahe mujh mein ki aap ke bacchon ko bhi entertain kar sakoon’ (I hope I have the strength to even entertain your kids)." If his enthusiasm and energy in Pathaan is anything to go by, then one thing is for sure - SRK is not going anywhere. This Pathaan is the perfect opening to India’s very own Spy Universe.

Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan has an immense fan following but for some reason, after the shock he received with Zero at the box office, he went into silent mode. This disappointed all his fans though he appeared in a few cameos and special roles now and then. Finally, Shah Rukh Khan decided to break the shackles and announced action entertainer Pathaan with Siddharth Anand. Right from the film's announcement, movie lovers waited eagerly for the film's release. The film is releasing on 25 January as a Republic Day special. Already the film's first look, teaser, trailer, and songs got tremendous response. Shah Rukh Khan's new look, Deepika Padukone's sensuous bikini treat, and John Abrahamn's presence along with Salman Khan's cameo are becoming the talk of the town. The film's OTT rights have been bagged for a fancy sum by Amazon Prime video and streaming will be done after the film's theatrical screening. The film directed by Siddharth Anand who is known for action entertainers is driving us all crazy. Let us travel with Pathaan and find out what thrilling ride he offered to movie lovers.

To thwart that, General Qatar meets Shaitan.  In the meantime, Indian Colonel Sunil Luthra (Ashutosh Rana) and his team that includes (Dimple Kapadia) sound a red alert and go in search of Pathaan (Shah Rukh Khan). It all boils down to the unraveling of the sinister plot by Pathaan and its connection to Jim (John Abraham), leader of Outfit X. Where this leads to, what is Rakth Beej and what is the connection of all these developments to Dr. Rubina Mohisin (Deepika Padukone) an ISI agent and Tiger (Salman Khan) should be unraveled on the screen.

The story penned by Siddharth Anand is an out-and-out action entertainer. He included all the commercial elements and got the optimum out of the lead cast of Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham. He blended action elements featuring Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham, and even Deepika Padukone. Though the story is predictable with little or no real twists,  the action elements and the romantic elements made up for it. The action-packed story with patriotic flavor appeals to all. The story is inspired by superhit Hollywood blockbusters and those who have watched it will not find it interesting.

Pathaan : Screenplay Review

Pathaan's screenplay is provided by Shridhar Raghavan. The screenplay at the start is interesting and captivating when things unfold with the Article 370 abrogation and the turn of events in the aftermath. After the glimpse of John Abraham, the introduction of Shah Rukh Khan with a high octane and breathtaking action sequence is whistle worthy. Shah Rukh Khan's intense stunts blow the minds of all. Even the scenes involving Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham came out quite well. However, the scenes in between and the back-and-forth narration of the past and the present ended in confusing as Shah Rukh Khan also sported different looks.

The screenplay had its ups and downs. From racy, it turned out to be tardy with the romantic scenes between Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. But the action episodes featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone excite all. For all the talk of the screenplay, all the scenes looked to have been heavily inspired by Hollywood flicks and mostly Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible. The first half ends in an interesting way paving the way for the second half.

Screenplay in the second half treads on a predictable note, but the entry of Super Star Salman Khan takes the film to another level. Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan's action episode for around 10 minutes is a treat to watch not only for the fans but also for the masses. After the predictable turn of events, the film ends in a routine fashion on a happy note. Director Siddharth Anand and Sridhar Raghavan for all the high points showed a soft corner to the villain and this in fact diluted the mission. The characterization of John Abhram brings him sympathy from the viewers. The narration also lacked an emotional connection due to the routine elements and lack of real twists and turns.

Shah Rukh Khan made a spectacular and stunning return to the silver screen after nearly three years. He looked stylish, macho, and cool and elevated the scenes with his screen presence. His dialogue delivery and expressions are near perfect. Shah Rukh Khan flaunted his well-toned physique and he indulged in breathtaking high-octane stunts taking many risks. However, the way he sported different looks and hairstyles, impacted the continuity of the narration.

Deepika Padukone is a delight to watch on the screen. She gave ample treat to viewers in bikinis and also in low-neck outfits and slit gowns. What comes as surprise is she enacted intense action scenes along with Shah Rukh Khan. John Abraham scored brownie points among all of them. He sported a fiery look and delivered powerful and impactful dialogues. His scenes with Shah Rukh Khan stand out.

Salman Khan made a powerful impact in the special role. His role took the film to another level. His screen presence elevated the scenes of the routine narration exciting all the movie lovers. Others like Dimple Kapadia, Ashutosh Rana performed according to their roles.

Pathaan : Technicians Review

Satchich Palouse's cinematography is rich and beautiful. The exotic locations in Dubai, Afghanistan, UAE, Turkey, Italy, Russia, France, and Spain are shot in a lavish manner. The action sequences are canned in an exciting manner. Stunt choreographers composed action sequences in such a way to attract the masses. But they are unidimensional and could have been more creative.

Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara's songs are a treat to watch on the screen. Besharam song is beautifully shot and the chemistry between Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone is awesome. Even the Jhoome Pathaan in the end is shot in an appealing manner with good dance choreography. The editing of Aarif Sheikh could have been far better. There are many drags and repetitive scenes that slowed the pace of the film. Dialogues are good at times and are thought-provoking. Most of the time, dialogues just looked ok. The production values of Yash Raj Films are grand.

Altogether, Pathaan starring Shah Rukh Khan directed by Siddharth Anand is a perfect comeback treat for all his fans. Action movie lovers will love Shah Rukh Khan showing his versatility in romance, action, and witty dialogue. He also showed good emotions. Complimenting him is John Abraham who locked horns with him and Deepika Padukone who on one side exploded like a beauty bomb and on the other side exploded in action sequences. The presence of Salman Khan powered the film to another level. Had little more twists and turns included in the screenplay and the story been fine-tuned to remove the monotony, Pathaan would have resulted in a powerful explosion. Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 2.75 rating for Pathaan .

After 4 years of long hiatus, superstar Shah Rukh Khan returns to cinema with Pathaan. He is joined by Salman Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham to make it even bigger. If this isn’t enough SRK teams up with Siddharth Anand whose forte is action thriller and made films like War and Bang Bang! The film expands Yash Raj Film’s Spy Universe – Salman Khan’s Tiger and Hrithik Roshan’s Kabir. Pathaan is creating a sensation at the Box Office. Given the huge pre-release buzz, the film is expected to shatter opening records. Without further due, let’s check out whether SRK made a huge comeback?

Pathaan (Shah Rukh Khan), an undercover agent and patriot, is on a mission to stop Jim (John Abraham) who is an ex RAW agent-turned-terrorist. Jim has a terrible past which makes him go against his own country and lose emotions. This makes him start the world’s most dangerous private terrorist organisation Outfit X. Jim hires Rubina Khan (Deepika Padukone) an ISI agent for his mission Rakhtbeej. How does Pathaan abort the Rakhtbeej mission?

Performances

Shah Rukh Khan undoubtedly delivered an astonishing performance. Be it action or romance, he dominated the screen. Deepika Padukone scorched the screen with her glamour. She is not confined to a glam role. Her role has substance and part of plot twists where she carries forward the story. However, her role reminds us of Scarlett Johansson in Hollywood films. Johan Abraham is the powerful and ruthless antagonist. He has a backstory that justifies his present. Salman Khan’s stunning cameo is a big hit with the masses creating whistles and claps. He along with SRK rocked an action sequence giving a jugal-bandhi experience to action lovers. Dimple Kapadia’s role has an emotional touch. Asutosh Rana as Colonel Luthra is a cliched weak boss who heavily depends on his junior Pathaan.

Technicalities

Siddharth Anand is a master of action thrillers and he proves this again. He got all the necessary ingredients to make a perfect action thriller which gives a visual treat. The scale, style and treatment are all in the favour of commercial action film. Dialogues cater to the crowds. Songs are appealing, thanks to Deepika. Sanchit and Ankit Balhara’s music works. However, the film is stretched. Particularly, the viewers have to patiently wait for the climax though knowing the story. The film lacks the emotional connect.

SRK & Deepika Action Stunts Grandeur Scale

Familiar Spy Plot Low On Emotions

Director Siddhart Anand delivered a spy thriller camouflaged with high-octane action stunts set against grandeur scale with an ensemble cast including SRK, Deepika, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia and Bhai Salman Khan’s stunning cameo. No doubt, this is a terrific formula to deliver six at the Box Office. That is exactly what the film is doing at the box office upon itgs opening.

Right from the introduction of SRK with an action episode, the protagonist takes on the armed goons effortlessly. Though he gets beaten badly with all bruises and knife attacks, the superstar hero eliminates tens of baddies with ease. This is a pure masala commercial film where logic takes a backseat. There are choppers, mid-air fights, a robbery sequence, a village in Afghanistan which loves Pathaan, forming a team (JOCR) with wounded soldiers.

SRK’s chiseled body and shirtless show of his body with six-pack abs are going to swoon his fans. He proves yet again he has a great charm and he is the Baadshah of romance. His chemistry with Deepika Padukone is stunning. Her glam treat in bikinis is eye feast. John Abraham is shown as a powerful antagonist this is where this action thriller worked brilliantly with masses. There are single liners. Some of them worked well. SRK Everything in Pathaan is formulaic. It all looks artificial and cinematic, lacking necessary emotion.

The first half is gripping with an interesting interval twist. The second half drags a lot. The pre-climax sequence on the bikes in ice is alright. The film has several action blocks designed keeping the action lovers in mind. With some expected twists and lack of gripping moments, Pathaan is an average film which is strictly for action lovers and fans of SRK. Even at the end when a plane carrying 300 passengers is at stake, it doesn’t bother the audience enough. It is very clear that the superstar hero saves everyone with a happy ending. Throughout the film, it is very evident that the makers played it to the galleries. The action scenes seem inspired from Hollywood films like ‘Fast and Furious’, ‘Mission Impossible’ and several others.

SRK and Salman’s conversation at the end of the film on passing the baton is interesting and he sums up, “We can’t give this to kids” and “We have to do it for the country”. This strikes chords with the fans of seasoned stars SRK and Salman.

Pathaan is a film with no great writing. But the film is stylishly made with several forced sequences to make it visually appealing for masses. With all masala ingredients, Pathaan is a Paisa Vasool film made for action aficionados and SRK’s fans. Keep your expectations low on spy elements.

Verdict: SRK IS BACK WITH BANG

शाहरुख खान चार साल के लंबे ब्रेक के बाद वापसी कर रहे हैं. जाहिर सी बात है बादशाह के फैंस के लिए ये सेलिब्रेशन का वक्त है. इसके साथ ही पिछले कुछ सालों से ड्राई चल रहे बॉलीवुड के बॉक्स ऑफिस की नजर भी पठान पर टिकी है. क्या अपने फैंस और बॉक्स ऑफिस की उम्मीदों पर पठान खरा उतरता है? ये जानने के लिए पढ़ें रिव्यू.

कहानी फिल्म में दिखाया गया है कि कश्मीर से धारा 370 के हटने के बाद पड़ोसी मुल्क में भूचाल आ जाता है. ऐसे में पाकिस्तान एक हाईटेक प्राइवेट आतंकवादी गिरोह 'आउटफिट एक्स' का सहारा लेता है. इस गिरोह का लीडर जिम (जॉन अब्राहम) एक समय में इंडियन इंटेलिजेंस फोर्स का हिस्सा हुआ करता था लेकिन उसके साथ हुए हादसे ने उसे देश से नफरत करने पर मजबूर कर दिया. जिम का मकसद एक वायरस के जरिए इंडिया में तबाही मचाना है. इंडियन इंटेलिजेंस एजेंसी को जिम के इस इरादे की भनक लगती है और उसके अगेंस्ट वो अपने सबसे काबिल एजेंट पठान(शाहरुख खान) को खड़ा करते हैं. इस मिशन के दौरान पठान की मुलाकात रूबीना मोहसीन(दीपिका पादुकोण) से होती है. रूबीना कौन है? वो क्या वायरस है जिससे देश तबाह हो सकता है? जिम की बैकड्रॉप स्टोरी क्या है? और सबसे अहम सवाल क्या पठान अपने इस मकसद में कामयाब हो पाता है? इन सब सवालों के जवाब के लिए थिएटर का रूख करना होगा. 

डायरेक्शन  वॉर जैसी फिल्मों में अपनी एक्शन थ्रिलर का जलवा बिखेर चुके डायरेक्टर सिद्धार्थ आनंद पठान लेकर आए हैं. सिद्धार्थ की इस फिल्म में आपको जिस मसाला फिल्म की उम्मीद है वो भरपूर मात्रा में है. पावरपैक्ड एक्शन, एक्सॉटिक लोकेशन, रोमांस, कॉमिडी, डायलॉगबाजी, देशभक्ति इमोशंस से लबरेज फिल्म फैंस के लिए पूरी तरह पैसा वसूल साबित है. बात जब सुपरस्टार और मसाला फिल्म के कॉम्बिनेशन की हो, तो कहानी या सीक्वेंस में लॉजिक ढूंढना सही नहीं होता है. कहानी के मामले में बेशक फिल्म का पक्ष कमजोर है लेकिन जिस तरह के एक्शन और डायलॉग्स लिखे गए हैं, वो इन कमी पर पूरी तरह पर्दा डालते हैं.

फर्स्ट हाफ थोड़ा लंबा जरूर है लेकिन जिस हुक पॉइंट पर इंटरवल रखा गया है कि आप फौरन इसके दोबारा शुरू होने का इंतजार करने लगते हैं. कहानी के सेकेंड हाफ में आप पठान की दुनिया में इतना खो जाते हैं कि कई बार सीटी बजाने, क्लैपिंग करने से बिलकुल नहीं हिचकते हैं. यकीन मानें 2 घंटे 26 मिनट पर बनी इस फिल्म में आपको वो हर इमोशन मिलता है, जो एक फैन देखना चाहता है. पूरी फिल्म देखने पर यह एहसास होता है कि मेकर्स ने आपको ठगा नहीं है बल्कि उन लॉयल फैंस को एक तोहफा दिया है, जिसकी उन्हें अदद दरकार थी. फिल्म के एक्शन और वीएफएक्स पर बेमिसाल काम किया गया है. कुछ एक्शन सीक्वेंस आपको डायजेस्ट नहीं होंगे लेकिन स्क्रीन पर वो इतने भव्य दिखते हैं, जिसे देखकर आपके होश उड़ जाएंगे. 

टेक्निकल ऐंड म्यूजिक  फिल्म का मजबूत पक्ष इसका वीएफएक्स, सिनेमैटोग्राफी, एक्शन सीक्वेंस और म्यूजिक है. दुबई, पेरिस, अफगानिस्तान हो या अफ्रीका Satchith Paulose की सिनेमैटोग्राफी से हर फ्रेम पर शहर और लोकेशन की भव्यता खूबसूरत दिखी है. स्क्रीन पर पठान एक लार्जर दैन लाइफ वाली फील देती है. फिल्म के गानों ने तो रिलीज से पहले ही बवाल मचाया था. बेशर्म रंग और झूमे जो पठान गानों की फिल्मिंग सीन्स के दौरान सटीक बैठती है. सचित और अंकित बलहारा की म्यूजिक ने अपना काम पूरी ईमानदारी से किया है.

फिल्म का बैकग्राउंड स्कोर भी फिल्म के दौरान थ्रिल और एक्साइटमेंट को बढ़ाने में फ्यूल का काम करता है. पठान के एक्शन के परफेक्शन के लिए विदेशी और कई देसी एक्शन ट्रेनर का समायोजन दिखा है. उनका काम सौ प्रतिशत से भी बेहतर है. फिल्म के न केवल लोकेशन भव्य हैं बल्कि इसके सभी कास्ट भी स्टाइलिश नजर आते हैं. शाहरुख, दीपिका ने तो अपने पहले लुक में ही महफिल लूट ली थी लेकिन जिस तरह से सभी कास्ट के कॉस्ट्यूम और स्टाइलिंग और डिटेलिंग से काम किया गया है, उसकी तारीफ करनी पड़ेगी. ममता आनंद, निहारिका जॉली और शलीना नथानी का स्टाइलिंग कमाल का है. शाहरुख की लुक और बॉडी पर जो काम हुआ है, उनके ट्रेनर प्रशांत सावंत की मेहनत भी साफ दिखती है. 

    एक्टिंग  चार साल बाद सुपरस्टार शाहरुख खान को स्क्रीन पर देखने को फैंस तरस गए थे. फैंस की उम्मीदों पर शाहरुख पूरी तरह खरे उतरते हैं. इमोशंस में माहिर शाहरुख को एक्शन करता देखना उनके फैंस के लिए सरप्राइज एलिमेंट है. एक परफेक्ट हीरो की परिभाषा को शाहरुख ने पूरा किया है. इसमें उनका इतना हैंडसम दिखना, सोने पर सुहागा वाली बात है. वहीं दीपिका पादुकोण सरप्राइज करती हैं. ग्लैमरस के साथ-साथ पावरपैक एक्शन करतीं दिखीं दीपिका को अब एक्शन फिल्मों को एक्स्प्लोर करना चाहिए. जॉन अब्राहम हमेशा से स्टाइलिश एक्टर कहे जाते हैं. विलेन के रूप में वो जचें हैं और पूरी फिल्म के दौरान अपने इसी एंग्स इमोशन को बरकरार रखा है. डिंपल कपाड़िया और आशुतोष राणा ने अपना काम पूरी ईमानदारी से किया है. उनकी मौजूदगी फिल्म को बखूबी बैलेंस करती है. 

क्यों देखें  फिल्म में हर वो एलिमेंट्स मौजूद है, जो एक सिनेमालवर चाहता है. शाहरुख खान की इस फिल्म को भला कोई कैसे मिस कर सकता है. अपने सुपरस्टार के लिए फैंस जरूर फिल्म देखने जाएं. पूरी गारंटी है कि पठान आपके लिए पैसा वसूल साबित होगी.

Siddhu Jonnalagadda, as DJ Tillu, earned a special place in the hearts of audiences with his comedy timing and writing, allowing the makers to come up with its sequel, Tillu Square. The second installment is helmed by Mallik Ram, and Anupama Parameswaran played the leading lady. Amidst very good buzz, the movie has hit the screens today, and let’s see if it has lived up to the hype or not.

With the huge amount earned, Tillu (Siddhu Jonnalagadda) becomes an event organizer. His attitude and style doesn’t change a bit and Tillu instantly falls in love with Lilly (Anupama Parameswaran). He starts wooing Lilly from the moment he sees her, and again, he lands in a huge mess. How Tillu comes out of it forms the crux of the story.

Plus Points:

Films like DJ Tillu and Tillu Square majorly rely on the protagonist’s characterization, and the major challenge for the makers will be to get this aspect right. Tillu is one character which has struck a chord with the audience immensely, and it is very difficult to recreate the same magic. But the team passed the job with flying colors.

It is Siddhu’s show all the way without an iota of doubt. He is the main pillar of this Tillu franchise, and the audience will surely get entertained big time watching him. From the opening sequence, Siddhu grabs our attention with his one-liners, body language, and funny expressions. Siddhu has hit it out of the park with his fantastic comedy timing.

As Siddhu himself is the writer, he knows very well what audiences expect from him and plays it to the gallery. The second half is solid, with non-stop entertainment. The humor is evoked through quirky one-liners and trendy dialogues. Anupama Parameswaran is quite good in her bold role. She shared a solid chemistry with the protagonist and her character travels along with the hero throughout the movie just like Tillu Square’s predecessor. Muralidhar Goud, Prince Cecil, and other supporting cast are decent in their roles

Minus Points:

The sequel begins exactly where the first part ends. But after a neat start things slow down a bit in the first hour. The love track is packed with gags. While a few of them land well, a few don’t work as intended. This is a bit of lag in the story progression in the first half.

As mentioned above, movies like Tillu Square depend on characterization and not on the storyline. Those who expect a strong story might get disappointed a bit. A few scenes might give you a Deja Vu feeling since the story is more or less the same as the first part. The way a few aspects are dealt with looks silly. Murali Sharma’s character gets less screen time, and the final twist looks forced.

Technical Aspects:

The songs are integrated well with the narrative. Ram Miryala and Achu Rajamani did a good job with the songs, while the background score provided by Bheems Ceciroleo is in sync with the film’s quirky mood. The editing by Navin Nooli is decent. The cinematography by Sai Prakash is splendid, and the frames look colorful.

The production values are good, too. Coming to the director, Mallik Ram, he did a good job in narrating this familiar storyline in an entertaining manner. There are loopholes, but the team covered it up with humorous moments.

On the whole, Tillu Square is a neat sequel to DJ Tillu, with an abundant amount of entertainment. Siddhu as Tillu is the heart and soul of this madcap entertainer, and he will once again win over us with his amusing comedy timing, screen presence, and mannerisms. The story is pretty much the same as the first installment, and a few scenes will give us a Deja Vu feeling. The first half is a bit underwhelming, and a few aspects don’t look convincing. But the majority of the second half is filled with non-stop entertainment that works pretty well. There are hiccups, but the entertainment factor keeps the film going. Those who liked DJ Tillu will end up liking this sequel as well. Go for it.
