I have come to the conclusion this is a Facebook desktop issue. I have cleared everything from edge and used CC cleaner and get

I have also tried edge that has no extensions and never use it so it, and is as close to a fresh install web browser that I have and still get this error

The penultimate episode of Shōgun is a big one, in the way only great TV can build to. It binds together everything the past eight hours of the show has built, then punctures the plotlines like daisy chains. And the result is explosive, even before the final moments blow up everything we understand about where this story might be headed. Episode 9, “Crimson Sky,” brings the whole conflict to a fiery head — so it’s no wonder it prominently features the plotline the show’s creators , by their own admission, struggled with the most.

[ Ed. note: This post will now get into explicit spoiler territory for “Crimson Sky.”]

When trying to nail down all the details of Shōgun ’s period world, showrunners Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks brought in producer Mako Kamitsuna as a cultural consultant. When seeking notes, they — like anyone undergoing an edit — were hopeful they had shot the moon.

“We thought, OK, she’s gonna be like, How did you guys do this? You captured the Japanese essence ,” Kondo told Polygon. “And she very politely said, ‘I’m sorry, I’m not able to give you notes about this, because a Japanese person wouldn’t even have this thought.’”

As Marks and Kondo saw it, it was a classic case of not knowing what they didn’t know. “[It] really challenged us to break it down from the beginning and start over. At first you’re shocked, and then you’re challenged, and then you’re inspired — and I think that’s what happened at almost every level,” Kondo says.

One particular note stood out to them: “The meaning of seppuku and a true understanding of why it was used,” Marks says. “Even after the writers room with our Japanese producers and actors, there were a lot of conversations about us trying to reach for: What does seppuku mean?”

The answer to that question is weighed across “Crimson Sky,” particularly as various people try to talk or maneuver Mariko (Anna Sawai) out of her resolve to commit seppuku. Though, as we saw in last week’s episode, it is some sort of ploy on behalf of her lord, Toranaga (Hiroyuki Sanada), no one is exactly sure what or why.

Perhaps nowhere is this clearer than in her conflict with Blackthorne. Part of their connection has been based in his similar thoughts on death; while her husband (Shinnosuke Abe) is left stiff and distant as he struggles to understand Mariko’s desire to commit seppuku, Blackthorne relates to the idea that death is a part of everyday life. And that ease of understanding has underpinned much of their feelings toward each other as the season progressed. But Shōgun is a smart show, and knows their understanding is founded off totally different circumstances, cultural contexts, and conceptions of death. It’s something Marks and Kondo say they can relate to.

“We, I think, as Westerners, for a long time were interpreting [seppuku] almost as a pathos, as like a fixation on death,” Marks says. “[But] seppuku, as an act — I believe as it was put to us by Mako Kamitsuna — is more an expression of life. And that was a really potent conversation that opened our eyes to our misunderstanding as we engaged it through the text originally. To exert this act on a chaotic situation is a chance to exert control over chaos; to take one’s life into their own hands and say that I can have some agency over it.”

It’s just as we saw last week, with Toranaga’s friend and ally Toda Hiromatsu (Tokuma Nishioka) also committing seppuku. That scene is similarly charged, with the layers of understanding — between Toranaga and Hiromatsu, first and foremost, but also for the crowd around them to interpret their performance of ritual — and the weight of the act comes through completely. Though Mariko’s seppuku doesn’t happen exactly (more on that later), both she and Hiromatsu demonstrate their willingness to commit to Toranaga’s cause, to register their very real purpose with an act. And Shōgun treats both of these moments as sacrifices that are respected but mourned: Nishioka and Sanada both look on the verge of tears throughout their scene, both desperate to aid the other, yet unable to do more than they can muster here. Even Mariko’s declaration is met with a bowed head from Toranaga’s wife and the other ladies at court.

Through that lens, Kondo and Marks came along a similar journey to Blackthorne’s: He originally sees Mariko’s choices purely as Toranaga’s manipulation, having observed her somewhat performative attempt at an exit and generally fearing for her life. He even seeks to exploit his connection with her, begging, “Would you consider living for me?” She takes his hand and looks at him with pity and sadness, breaking him when she walks away. Ultimately he listens to her, and accepts that he may not understand her choices, but he can support her in the only ways he knows how: following her lead (and seconding her, so as to save her mortal soul from Christian hell). Without knowing, he has done the thing her husband never could: giving her the freedom of a life beyond anyone else’s understanding, logic, or control.

In an episode all about pawns and the people that move them, Mariko’s steadfastness is remarkable, and even those who can’t understand have no choice but to stare. It’s her journey that defines “Crimson Sky,” even just in the way the camera meets her gaze. After declaring directly to the camera that she was “ready” for her part in Toranaga’s plan, “Crimson Sky” holds Mariko in the center of the frame and the story, ferociously asserting herself as she stares right back into it. Even when she glides past it after failing to battle through Ishido’s men, there’s a sense that she’s seeing further down the line than we are. With her final sacrifice, she is, in her own way, exerting her control over history as best she can. It may be Toranaga’s master plan, and Ishido’s kidnapping attempt, but it’s Mariko who sends the final blow.

The Michelin dining guide has officially announced its award winners for the third edition of its Florida Michelin Guide. Like previous two years, the list of places that took home the coveted star awards are comprised predominately of expensive, upscale, Eurocentric South Florida restaurants.

The guide is seen by many as the global standard of restaurant reviews with its up to three-star rating system with one-star considered “very good restaurant in its category,” two-star considered “worthy of a detour,” and three-star deemed a “special journey.” There is also the Bib Gourmand status, an unstarred category given to high-caliber restaurants that serve a two-course meal for around $50 a person.

Miami restaurants dominated the awards again for a third year in a row, receiving the most in the state. New one-star winners in Miami EntreNos , Ogawa , and Shingo . The Miami outpost of L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon maintained its two-star status for a third year in a row and still the only sole two-starred restaurant in the Sunshine State.

Ten one-star winners from 2023 retained their one-star status, including:

Ariete , upscale American and Cuban cuisine in Coconut Grove.
Boia De , an eclectic American restaurant with Italian influences just north of the Design District.
Cote , a Korean steakhouse in the Miami Design District.
Elcielo Miami , experiential Colombian cuisine
Hiden , “hidden” omakase restaurant in Wynwood.
Le Jardinier , a vegetable-focused restaurant by Joël Robuchon alumni in the Miami Design District.
Los Felix , Mexican seafood and tacos in Coconut Grove.
Stubborn Seed , an American tasting-menu-focused restaurant by a Top Chef winner in South Beach.
The Surf Club Restaurant , American comfort food from Thomas Keller in Surfside.
Tambourine Room By Tristan Brandt , a tasting-menu-only modern take on classic French cuisine with Asian influences.

Miami also had 18 restaurants receive a Bib Gourmand award including two new recipients. Returning to the Bib Gourmand list this year are Bachour, Chug’s Diner, Doya, El Turco, Ghee Indian Kitchen, Hometown Barbecue, La Natural, Lucali, Mandolin, Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink, Phuc Yea, Sanguich de Miami, Tinta y Cafe, Zak the Baker, Zitz Sum, Jaguar Sun, and Rosie’s. One new recipient, Tam Tam, was announced last week.

Not returning to the list this year are The Den at Sushi Azabu , omakase in Miami Beach, which previous held a one-star ranking and Lung Yai, which held a Bib.

The annual guide began as a free booklet in 1900 published by Michelin (yes, of tire fame) to help motorists find the best places to eat and drink throughout Europe. Over the past century, it has grown in prestige and expanded its footprint globally.

This Michelin Guide partners with Visit Florida , the state’s official tourism board, for the Sunshine State’s guide. The Michelin Guide doesn’t disclose how much it is paid to bring inspectors to those markets — price tags for the state have been reported to be well over seven figures, with Miami-Dade County paying $116,000 a year over three years to help offset the cost of producing of the guide — though the company has been candid in the past about its partnerships with those respective boards.

But not all chefs welcome the stars. Over the years, chefs have famously asked to “give back” their stars, citing the increased pressures that the award brings, especially for those awarded the much-coveted three-star recognition. Others have pointed out the guide's penchant for selecting primarily European and Japanese menus for stars at the expense of other worthy cuisines and cultural institutions like street food.

Ryan Garcia blasts referee in Devin Haney fight, casts doubt on rematch

Ryan Garcia feels he should’ve knocked out Devin Haney rather than just beaten him by majority decision, but he puts at least part of the blame on referee Harvey Dock.

While he certainly didn’t complain about getting the nod, and handing Haney the first loss of his professional career, Garcia acknowledged that a finish would’ve been that much sweeter. He set the tone with a huge left hook in the opening round that rattled Haney, but Garcia really took over with a trio of knockdowns that effectively won him the fight.

The first knockdown came in the seventh round, but the advantage on the scorecards was almost immediately negated when Dock paused the action and deducted a point from Garcia for punching after he demanded a break. Instead of being penalized, Garcia feels like he should have been allowed to continue until he put Haney down for good.

“At the end of the day, Harvey Dock, I think he was tripping,” Garcia said post-fight. “He should have stopped that fight. It was bad. [Haney] was really hurt. I felt bad. I even looked at Bill [Haney], I said, ‘Bro, you should probably stop this.’ He didn’t and that’s it.

“The guy was holding me for dear life. I felt an opportunity to keep swinging while my hands were free and I cracked him, and then [Dock] took a point away when I cracked him. But he held me. I should have knocked him out in that seventh round. They stole that from me.”

Even in the moment, Garcia admits he was confused by the referee’s actions.

“That was crazy,” Garcia said. “I never seen some s*** like that. He was holding him and I [punched] him and he was hurt and I was like, ‘Yes! Done! Oh, point taken?’”

Despite the penalty, Garcia continued to pour on the punishment with two more knockdowns in the 10th and 11th rounds that won him the fight.

Thinking back on his performance, Garcia believes he could’ve done even better, but he had a singular purpose to put Haney away and it actually cost him.

“Is this going to be the moment I stop him?” Garcia said of his first thought after dropping Haney in the seventh round. “That’s just all I was thinking. I shouldn’t have put too much pressure on myself to stop him. Because every time I hurt him, I just went crazy. I just couldn’t finish him.

“I was surprised he had such heart and recovery. I cracked him in that first round, I thought it was over. I’m like I won. Easy work. Then he came out firing in the second. He even hurt me with the hook. I was like, damn, maybe he do got a little bit of power.”

Garcia walked into the fight as a massive underdog, with some sportsbooks listing Haney as high as an 8-to-1 favorite to win, but that’s not how things played out on Saturday.

Immediately after the fight, Garcia mentioned he’d gladly accept a rematch, and Haney later said the same after suffering the first defeat of his career.

Once the action cooled down, however, Garcia acknowledged that his body went through a lot in his attempt to get down to 140 pounds for the fight. In the end, Garcia actually missed weight by 3.2 pounds, but the bout still moved forward as scheduled.

With this fight behind him, Garcia isn’t even contemplating another attempt to get down to 140 pounds, and he doubts Haney will pack on enough weight to pursue a rematch with him again. The same goes for Gervonta Davis, who handed Garcia the only loss of his career when Garcia made the ill-fated decision to go all the way down to 136 pounds to face “Tank,” ultimately getting finished with a brutal body shot in the seventh round.

“I don’t think Tank’s going to beat Frank Martin, but if he did, he wouldn’t fight me because I’m moving up,” Garcia said. “I’m not doing 140. I’m going 147. I can’t make f****** 140. I never even technically fought at 140. I fought every time at 143. My body can’t literally go lower than 143. It’s impossible. I tried every technique. Can’t do it.”

With plans to go up in weight, Garcia had at least one name in mind for a future opponent, although he’s not cemented on anything just yet.

“I had a vision to fight [Sebastian] Fundura at 154 [pounds],” Garcia said. “I don’t know why, I just feel I could knock him out. I know that’s really, really random. I just feel like I could get the title at 154.

“I fought guys that big before and I’ve knocked them out in sparring. Cold, slept them. I want to do it. Shout out Fundura, no disrespect.”

With the 24th overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft , the Dallas Cowboys may not be telegraphing exactly what they plan on doing, but their glaring roster needs paired with the l ist of prospects they’ve brought in for pre-draft visits don’t leave a whole lot of mystery about the direction they’ll likely go. Leaving their need for starters at left tackle, center, and linebacker until the draft has many fans uneasy, as it goes against how Dallas typically approaches the offseason. Sure, being a draft-focused team has yielded them plenty of regular-season results and a talented core of homegrown players, but recent history with a disappointing 2023 draft class is a real reason for concerns about how dependent the Cowboys may be on next week’s rookie crop.

One current example of this type of player currently on the roster is tight end Luke Schoonmaker. After seeing first-round prospect Dalton Kincaid go one pick before the Cowboys selected Mazi Smith, and Sam Laporta and Michael Mayer coming off the board within the first three picks of the second round, the Cowboys were pigeonholed into taking the fifth tight end at the 58th overall pick with Schoonmaker. The Packers took Oregon State ’s Luke Musgrave with the 42nd overall pick, who scored against the Cowboys in their 48-32 Wild Card loss - a game Schoonmaker played just 19 snaps and caught one pass.

That season-ending Packers loss was a failure on a multitude of levels by a Cowboys team that lost at home for the first time in 16 games to squander yet another 12-win regular season, but it stood as the last chance for their 2023 draft picks to make the impact they desperately needed but didn’t get. The Cowboys were too dependent through most of the season on a fairly narrow game script to win, and a huge part of this was pushing the ball downfield in the passing game to build leads and allow their defense to play from ahead. After starting just eight games and catching no more than four passes in any of them in 2022, TE Jake Ferguson surprisingly became a vital part of the DNA of Mike McCarthy’s offense last year with a breakout campaign.

Giving little room for Schoonmaker to see the field, Ferguson averaged 10.7 yards per catch as a dynamic middle of the field option for Dak Prescott in all 17 games. Ferguson scored five touchdowns in the regular season and did his best to keep Dallas in the playoff game with three touchdowns on ten receptions as well. Where the game seemed sped up at times for Schoonmaker, who looked clunky as a route runner and struggled to make plays after the catch, the exact opposite could be said about Ferguson who effortlessly became a reliable option in the passing game right next to CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks. With all three players still under contract, the Cowboys may not be wrong for seemingly relying even more on their pass offense to make up for deficiencies elsewhere this season, but through the draft and player development for still unproven prospects like Schoonmaker, there’s hope they can achieve the balance Mike McCarthy strives for on this side of the ball in the final season of the his contract.

With McCarthy taking over play-calling duties last season, the expectation was the Cowboys would feature more West Coast concepts on offense. Instead, the Cowboys own “Texas Coast” approach took on a life of its own with McCarthy having to lean on what worked best in relying on Prescott’s arm. Tony Pollard was inconsistent as a lead running back, making the Cowboys too one-dimensional at times and allowing defenses to key heavily on Lamb in efforts to slow them down. These efforts by opposing defenses were futile when the Cowboys were in the friendly confines of AT&T Stadium, where they won all of their regular-season games by scoring an average of 37.4 points per game. After scoring his first NFL touchdown in the home opener against the Jets, Schoonmaker was hardly heard from in these home outbursts for the offense, catching just three more passes on eight targets. On the road, where the Cowboys struggles on this side of the ball were well-documented all season, Schoonmaker was slightly more active with a touchdown at the Panthers and now-infamous near touchdown on fourth down at the Eagles.

The Cowboys offense played an entirely different style away from home a year ago, one that tried to execute more of those traditional West Coast concepts and establish a downhill run game. While at least the concepts were there for the Cowboys to play this style of offense that teams like the 49ers , Dolphins , and Packers had so much success with, their version of it was a shell of these other teams proficiency in it - all three of which beat the Cowboys head-to-head a year ago. The Cowboys did not perform best with two tight ends on the field together last year, but at least knowing the core concepts were installed and can be improved on may be a glimmer of hope for Ferguson and Schoonmaker to coexist enough for last year’s second-round pick to not look like a wasted draft asset.

While most up-to-date mock drafts have the Cowboys addressing a position with a need for an immediate starter like left tackle or center, there is merit to trying to hide a weakness at one position by creating an overwhelming strength at another. This idea isn’t totally lost to mock drafters who are in the know like Peter Schrager, who recently linked speedy Texas WR Xavier Worthy to the Cowboys first pick . The Cowboys receiving group would immediately go from a talented duo of Lamb and Cooks with young potential behind them to a trio that puts an immense amount of vertical stress on a defense, with Worthy breaking the combine’s 40-yard dash record.

In a lesser way, there is hope the Cowboys could create a similar type of situation at tight end. They likely won’t be in the draft market for one a, thanks to not only Ferguson commanding the volume of targets he does along with Schoonmaker still being a work in progress, but Peyton Hendershot, Princeton Fant, and John Stephens Jr. also on the depth chart with some levels of intrigue. The Cowboys have had much better success playing the long game with draft picks ascending in year two and three instead of making the immediate impact they seemingly need from this month’s class, making TE a possible surprise position where a sophomore jump from Schoonmaker could pay off greatly for an offense that could do well to be slightly less dependent on Prescott’s arm.

Schoonmaker may not be the most physically imposing blocker at the point of attack in the run game, but he is agile enough to mirror defensive ends and get some push up field. Staying on the field with a RB like Jonathon Brooks or Rico Dowdle in the backfield as opposed to the more finesse player in Pollard could be the biggest key to Schoonmaker’s development in 2024, as well as working more with John Fassel’s special teams units where he had a bigger role than he did on offense as a rookie. Unfortunately, for the second straight year the TE out of Michigan will not have a clean bill of health through the offseason program. After missing rookie minicamp, OTAs, and part of training camp with plantar fasciitis last year, Schoonmaker had shoulder surgery following this season but should be on track to see more of the valuable offseason program in year two.

It may be far too early to tell where the surprise contributors will come from on this Cowboys roster next season, but when looking over a 2023 draft class that has room from top to bottom to do a lot more than any player did in year one, there are few that could make as much of a difference in the trajectory of the team as Schoonmaker pairing up with Ferguson to give the Cowboys a true dual threat at tight end.

This was clearly not a “run of the mill” match for Chelsea Women, as manager Emma Hayes went forward with an extremely defensive tactical shape for our standards. But bearing in mind we were facing the defending UEFA Women’s Champions League champions at their home ground, most fans would agree with Emma’s approach.

Midfield is where matches are often won or lost, and we needed to shore it up given how inconsistent the double pivot has been for us this season. Sjoeke Nüsken was introduced from the get-go for this purpose, and she at the very least made the lives of her Barça’s counterparts a bit harder when they pushed forward to try to break our lines.

Perhaps Barça aren’t used to facing teams which are truly able to match their level. And so, the juggernauts began showing some cracks. Lauren James and Mayra Ramírez weren’t afraid to take them on and made some tentative plays that could end up in shooting opportunities, had we had more bodies in the area when they made these forays.

On one such foray, the bodies finally followed. And Erin Cuthbert scored the opener.

It wasn’t easy containing Barça’s impetus to score the tying goal right after that play. But we did our best and after a lot of clearances, we headed into half-time in the lead.

We were already exceeding expectations. Could we hold onto such a slim lead, and go back to London with a bit more breathing room?

Again, the hosts wouldn’t make our lives easy. A ball to Salma Paralluelo from Patricia Guijarro hit Kadeisha Buchanan’s hand in the area, and the penalty was called. Luckily the attacker was offside during the play, and the call was off thanks to VAR.

At the other end, Chelsea were actually pushing for more. Ramírez got clattered in the box and the egregious penalty call was not even called upon by VAR. 10 minutes later she missed the target on a great chance she created, all by herself.

With nine minutes of added time — remember, we were facing Barcelona — the hosts did all they could to get the tying goal in the final minutes of the match. However we persisted, resisted and brought down the once unbeaten giants.
