How to Beat Saddler in RE4 Remake Separate Ways

How to Beat Saddler in Resident Evil 4 Remake Separate Ways

During Chapter 7 in Resident Evil 4 Remake’s Separate Ways DLC , Ada will face Osmund Saddler after helping Leon and Ashley escape. Although the cult leader won’t shapeshift into a hideous beast, he is still a challenging boss with various moves that can easily kill you.

RE4 Remake Separate Ways Saddler Boss Fight Guide

The cramped boss arena is the biggest challenge you will face in this boss fight. You won’t have much room to move, which can increase your difficulty dodging Saddler’s attacks.

When the fight begins, I recommend immediately heading to the back of the room and grabbing all the loot inside the barrels . You probably won’t get this chance when Saddler starts attacking you with his tentacles.

I suggest staying near the two pillars at the front and using them as your cover. You can also use the platform near the altar as an alternative, and it will also give you a slight height advantage.

Saddler has several moves, but the most dangerous one is the rain of bullets that he will send toward you. He will usually perform this move when you have put enough bullets in his body. Luckily, you can avoid this attack by staying behind a pillar .

RE4 Remake Separate Ways Saddler Boss Fight.

The boss also has a familiar vomit attack that you previously encountered during Ramon Salazar boss fight . Like the rain of bullets, you can avoid damage by hiding behind a pillar or crouching .

The final dangerous move you must be wary of is the tentacle attack . Saddler will attempt to stab you several times using his tentacles, but you can deflect this move using your knife . Just repeatedly smash the L1 or LB button, and you should be safe.

Although you’ve beaten Saddler and completed the Resident Evil 4 Remake’s Separate Ways DLC , you can still do various things in the game. For example, you can get extra gameplay time by completing all CP Challenges and obtaining S+ ranks on all difficulties .

  • Most of the boss has a weak point, this is " They always weak and easier to die when you knife them ". There are two ways to kill him easily : _ Knifing Saddler ( Safest way ) : Run near the small room in floor 2, jump down to the ground then turn back, Saddler will jump down like you. Now start to knife him, remember to do the command L1+R1 or square, X to dodge the attack that crush your face to the ground. When you press the command L1+R1 about 7 or 10 times, the command will change to square, X or maybe they will not change. Knife him about 13 times ( three hit in once ) and he will die. _ Shooting Saddler ( Safer way ) : Stand in place that you start in this fight then wait until Saddler jump in this area and. Dodge the attack L1+R1 or square, X . Run near Saddler and aim the Shotgun in his head, wait until the command L1+R1 appear on the screen, quickly shoot in his head and press X near him to cut. Repeat 17 times and he will die. krauser1989 - 14 years ago - report 10   7
  • The fastest way I've found to beat him is at the start of the match let him jump up top to meet you. From there snipe him once in the head, then he'll dip down and to the right for his counter attack, when he does take the second head shot (this is crucial it has to be two consecutive headshots) then he'll open his mouth, run up and stab him using the action key. Do this once more and after that unload all you got (perfect time for the crossbow) he should fall not too long after the second stabbing. Hope this helps Snakecob - 4 years ago - report
  • I unloaded 21 bow gun arrows on him and then stabed his eye and killed him. I was literally blinking red health when I started so I know it's possible Legendary_Pyro - 14 years ago - report 5   5
  • I havent gotten to that part yet but iv watched mah friends play and the fastest way is to simply spray all tmp ammo in his face then shotgun close to head as many times as u want and if u run out of ammo stab the sh!t outta him.my friend was literally blinking red hp wen he startedand it wasnt hard at all (4 him at least) to dodge every attack. so it is 100% possible to kill saddler without being hit. easy. gater228 - 14 years ago - report 7   7
  • Just shoot him him (in the head) with everything you've got, and stab him (when you have the chance)... Udin_Petot - 14 years ago - report 4   5
  • you can knife him by running up really close to him he will always use the same attack if you do it right u can evade it by L1 R1 if your life is getting low step back and finish with the shotgun lerhone - 14 years ago - report 5   7

Resident Evil 4 Remake Saddler fight - keeping the first form at bay

Saddler once held sway over the island as Los Illuminados’ cult leader, but here he discards all pretence of charisma and control, letting the parasite run wild and using sheer brute force in an attempt to take you down.

You’ll have a great deal of freedom in how you move around during the fight, so be sure to take advantage of it. The arena is littered with crates to restock your ammo if you’re running low, and you’ll often need to make space to stay out of Saddler’s way as he advances.

Saddler Boss Tips – First Form

Resident Evil 4 Remake Saddler fight - Leon aims at the large eyes on Saddler's mutated body

The main eye inside Saddler’s mouth will be your main target throughout this part of the fight. While smaller than the eyes on his extremities, hitting this with your strongest weapons should be your priority.

With a steady aim, you can keep your focus on the main eye with powerful and accurate weapons like the Killer7 oe Stingray. But if you want an easier time targeting it, destroy each of the larger eyes around the body to temporarily stun Saddler andset him up to take massive damage.

Partway through the fight, Saddler will summon a swarm of Novistadors to attack and slow you down. These foes have been an annoyance through all of Resident Evil 4 Remake, and it’s no different here. If you don’t want them tripping you up at a key moment, alternate between keeping an eye on Saddler and picking off the swarm.

Alternatively, if you keep moving the Novistadors will have a harm time getting in close enough to damage you, keeping your distance and focusing down Saddler is a valid tactic.

Saddler's final form

The majority of the battle is done after Saddler’s first form is defeated, but he still has a trick up his sleeve. For the final stage of the fight, Saddler will morph into a writhing mass of tendrils with his original body at the core.

As soon as this stage begins, start firing with whatever you have left at the core. It’s almost impossible to miss at this point. Don’t spend all your time aiming, however. Tendrils will periodically slam down on your platform, requiring Leon to keep moving or take heavy damage.

Your shots won’t initially be doing much, but that’s because you aren’t using the right tool for the job. After surviving for a short amount of time, Ada will throw Leon the series’ staple rocket launcher. Pick up the launcher, aim it at the core and fire to finish Saddler for good.

How to beat the Saddler boss in the Resident Evil 4 remake

He’s back: in a grosser form

Well you’ve made it to the final Chapter 16 showdown in the Resident Evil 4 remake : Lord Saddler. Given that this is the final boss of the game (if you don’t count the boat!) you can unload on him to your heart’s content, and bust out all of the weapons from storage you haven’t been using. Here’s how to use said weapons to actually take him down.

assignment ada how to beat saddler

Phase 1: Take out his eyes, then run up and knife his head

First things first: As a rule, you’ll want to keep moving down the linear path of the arena and finding new pickups/ammo for the fight. Saddler will often move this process along by jumping onto platforms or leaping all over the place, so follow him and keep blasting his eyes (located all over his body) along the way. This strategy also has the added benefit of utilizing multiple red explosive barrels that appear along the path to deal extra damage to Saddler.

In what is definitely a “giant enemy crab weak point” situation, you’ll need to take out Saddler’s eyes to put him in a downed state (which allows you to run up to him and use a prompted knife strike on his “main” eye). Any weapon will work for blowing up his ancillary eyes, but we fancied pistols/magnums at close range, and rifles at long range.

Saddler is extremely mobile, so you can’t always hang back and snipe him from afar. When he gets close, try and run behind him (or to the side of him) to get a better vantage point on his eyes: he’ll also get a bit confused when it comes to pathing, giving you a few extra seconds to react to his attacks.

When he summons bugs to his side as adds (additions) to the fight, you have two choices. You can keep focusing on Saddler, as he’s nearly ready to move into phase two at this point. Or you could quickly mow down some of the bugs, then re-focus up back on Saddler. Either strategy works well, especially since the bugs don’t do too much damage.

assignment ada how to beat saddler

Phase 2: The tendril arena

This part of the fight is extremely simple and brief. Saddler will make one last ditch effort to take you out with his tendrils, which can be easily avoided (manually or with the dodge mechanic):

  • When a tendril is raising up on the left (like the one in the gallery above), head to the right side of the arena
  • When a tendril is raising up on the right, head to the left side of the arena
  • All other tendrils can be dodged when the dodge prompt appears on screen (circle/B)

Keep shooting at the gold orb. Eventually, Ada Wong will throw a rocket launcher down to the small arena. Take it and shoot it at said orb and you’re done with the boss battle. You’ll get the gold trophy/achievement “You’re Small Time!” as well. The only thing left for you to do is escape the island (by following the linear path) and riding the boat out.

How to easily escape the island on the boat

The main thing to note is that you have  plenty of time to escape, so don’t lay on the gas too much.

Instead, only accelerate when there’s a straightaway or there aren’t that many hazards in your way. Otherwise, lay off the gas and coast around some of the tougher sections, then hit the trigger throttle again. Rinse and repeat until you make the final jump and you’re out of there.

RE4 Remake Saddler Boss (Fight, Strategy & Weakness)

Resident Evil 4 Remake Saddler boss

Finally reaching the summit, Leon and Ashley chase after Saddler and find Ada who has been captured, who Leon sets free.

Saddler arrives to attack Leon but is later saved by Ada who has just gained consciousness but Saddler begins to mutate into a treacherous creature.

Now, Leon must fight Saddler and stop the Plagas once and for all before Saddler can make an escape and continue his evil-doing elsewhere.

Who is Saddler Boss?

Saddler is the leader of the Los Iluminados and controls everything but once he is defeated all of those who are infected will no longer be able to function.

He seems unaffected by regular weapons but later changes into his final form, exposing his weak spots and also becoming a large creature.

This creature is capable of attacking with tentacle-like limbs and can jump large lengths while also being able to spit out a corrosive bile-like substance.

How To Kill Saddler?

Once the fight with Saddler begins, he will come at you with everything that he has, which includes charging at you, sending out tendrils, and releasing his puke on you.

The only way to deal a good amount of damage to Saddler is to aim for his weak spots, which are the eyes that can be seen on his limbs.

Doing enough damage to one of the eyes will stagger him and once you have destroyed all eyes that are present, he will be knocked out.

Leon staggered Saddler

After you have staggered Saddler, he will fall to the ground for a short period and can be attacked as he will be vulnerable.

This gives you the chance to either target the eye in his mouth by shooting at it or approaching to do a melee attack , which results in Leon stabbing Saddler’s eye.

This will need to be done multiple times, which includes relocating after Saddler gains an eye on each limb because he starts with 2 in the beginning and later has 4.

Saddler jumps away from time to time on a platform

Saddler will jump away from time to time on a platform and you will need to shoot him from afar or deal with the insects that he sends to attack you.

After he jumps back to the platform that you are on, you can continue attacking him normally again, aiming for his weak spots and striking him when he’s knocked down.

This will go on until you have done enough damage to him and he later falls off of the platform but jumps back again and knocks Leon back.

Leon shooting Saddler Plaga parasite which is attached inside of it

Saddler will mutate again and your only option will be to shoot at the large orb-like mass that has a Plaga parasite attached to Saddler inside of it.

This will go on until enough time has lapsed or until you have done enough damage but during this phase you will also need to dodge some of his attacks .

Saddler will either attack you with a frontal attack which requires you to move out of the way or with a sweep attack, requiring you to press the prompt button to evade.

Leon shooting Saddler with a special Rocket Launcher

Once the phase has continued for a while, Ada will appear and toss you a Special Rocket Launcher and tell you to use it.

This requires you to aim the Special Rocket Launcher at the orb with the Saddler inside, which will deal the final blow to him.

After shooting him with the Special Rocket Launcher, a cutscene will begin where Saddler begins to melt and Leon rushes in to stab the creature with his scepter.

Saddler will now be defeated and Ada will offer him a ride but Leon chooses to escape The Island with Ashley, which requires they head to a jet ski and ride off later on.

Strategy to Kill Saddler

Saddler may be big and dangerous but his weak spots make him vulnerable enough for Leon to dish out some serious damage.

You should aim for the eyes on each limb, focusing on one at a time to knock him down to deal a powerful blow either by melee or using a magnum.

Continue doing this until Saddler is finally dead and the boss fight will be over quickly but you must also be sure to watch out for his attacks as they can deal a lot of damage.

Saddler Treasure

Killing Saddler does not seem to give off any treasure as the scene is cut with Leon and Ashley making a quick escape.

Saddler Secret

Saddler was an outsider to the region and sought out the Plagas parasite as a way to create military weaponry to gain financial power but later on decided to create his cult and aim for more.

He was able to gain influence after converting Ramon Salazar, the betrayer of the family that had been preventing people from finding the Plagas for centuries.

It is unknown how Saddler discovered the Plagas but eventually he came out on top of all of it being the leader of a large cult capable of spreading their infection anywhere.

This may be one of the more intense fights in the game and you will have a chance to sell your treasures and tune up what you can before fighting Saddler.

It is best that you aim for his weak spots as anything else will barely do any damage to Saddler, which will eventually cause you to run out of ammo and get killed.

Once the fight with Saddler is done, Leon and Ashley will finally be able to escape The Island, if they can make it out in time that is.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Osmund Saddler Final Boss Guide

How to beat Osmund Saddler in Resident Evil 4 Remake

' src=

Resident Evil 4 Remake Osmund Saddler is the main antagonist and one of the toughest bosses in the game. He’s responsible for the resurgence of the Plaga and leads the cult known as Los Iluminados, the same cult that kidnapped Ashley Graham.

Defeating Saddler, Resident Evil 4 Remake’s final boss, is crucial to completing the game, but it’s no easy feat. You’ll need to understand his attack patterns and weaknesses to come out on top. In this guide, we’ll provide you with tips and tricks to make the fight against Saddler easier, whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the game.

How to defeat Osmund Saddler in Resident Evil 4 Remake

In Resident Evil 4 Remake, the final boss battle against Osmund Saddler takes place in the Loading Docks from Chapter 16. Saddler transforms into a large monster with tentacles. To prepare for the fight, you should save the game, and keep this back up in case you fail so you can just restart from the beginning, then visit the store one last time to stock up on ammo.

How to defeat Osmund Saddler in Resident Evil 4 Remake

The Osmund Saddler final boss fight will be divided into two phases, keep these tips in mind to easily defeat Saddler:

  • Shoot his weak points which are his eyes.
  • Saddler also has additional eyes on his front legs which can be shot to make him stagger and fall down.
  • You can also use objects in the environment like gasoline barrels and cranes to stagger Saddler.
  • Be careful of the bridges that connect the two halves of the arena, as they constantly switch up and down.
  • Use evade to timely dodge swings and avoid being grabbed by Saddler’s tentacles, or the poisonous substance that it emits.
  • It takes only a couple of direct hits on Saddler’s main eye to trigger Ada to throw a rocket launcher for you to pick up, which you need to do so quickly.
  • Once Saddler is defeated, Ada will throw a key to a jetski for Leon to use to escape the island. You will have to weave through the river while avoiding obstacles and making sure that you get out of the island in time.

As Leon and Ashley attempt to escape the secluded island, they are stopped by Osmund Saddler who wants to eliminate them himself. Leon then saves the tied-up Ada and proceeds to confront Saddler who then turns into his mutated form, with an eye growing inside his mouth and additional appendages growing out of his body.

How to defeat Osmund Saddler Phase 1 - Resident Evil 4 Remake

Like many other bosses, Saddler has weak points which are his eyes. Aside from the one in his mouth, there are also eyes on his front legs. These eyes are usually shut, but once they open up, shooting them will make the boss stagger and fall down. At this point, the eye in his mouth will become vulnerable and you can shoot it to deal damage. Saddler can also summon flying creatures to help him, but it’s best to ignore most of them and kill only those close to Leon.

How to defeat Osmund Saddler Phase 1 - Resident Evil 4 Remake (2)

Aside from your guns and grenades, you can also use objects in the environment to stagger Saddler. There are barrels of gasoline that you can shoot to make them explode once the boss is near them. These barrels are effective even if none of his eyes are open. There are also levers on top of platforms on both ends of the arena. Pulling these will make the cranes carrying beams swing and hit the boss, causing Saddler to get staggered. You will have to wait for the boss to get on the main platform where you are on before pulling the lever to make sure that the beams hit.

One other thing to be aware of with the arena is the two bridges that connect the two halves. These constantly switch up and down, and if you are caught crossing it as it drops down, you will need to do a QTE to make Leon hang on to the bridge and climb back up the platform.

During the fight, maintain a safe distance from Saddler to avoid his charges and regular attacks. Shoot the big eyes on his body, but only when they’re open. After destroying several eyes, Saddler will collapse onto the arena. Quickly run up to him and use your knife to stab his central eye.

How to defeat Osmund Saddler Phase 2 - Resident Evil 4 Remake

In the second phase, the combat area is very limited, and Saddler will have two types of attacks: horizontal sweeps and vertical strikes. You must avoid Saddler’s horizontal sweeps and vertical strikes at all cost by dodging while shooting the core of the boss with any weapon.

It should just take a couple of direct hits on Saddler’s main eye to trigger Ada to throw a rocket launcher for you to pick up. Just make sure to have enough slots in your inventory to be able to pick up the weapon. Once you have it, aim at the boss and fire. You don’t have to wait for any of its eyes to be open. Once the shot connects, the boss goes down and dies through a cutscene.

How to defeat Osmund Saddler Phase 2 - Resident Evil 4 Remake (2)

Saddler then drops a sample of the Plaga, but just as Leon picked it up, Ada threatens Leon with a gun to hand over the sample to her. Leon complies and Ada flies away in a chopper, but not before activating the explosions set in the island and tossing over a key to a jetski for Leon to use. You will only have less than three minutes, so make your way to the lift to grab Ashley and head over to the jet ski. You will then have to weave through the river while avoiding obstacles and making sure that you get out of the island in time. The scene then ends with both Leon and Ashley escaping and the credits start to roll.

Rewards for defeating Osmund Saddler

Congratulations! After successfully defeating Osmund Saddler, you will receive the gold trophy You’re Small Time! for defeating the final boss.

Resident Evil 4 ’s 16th and final chapter finally gets Leon and Ashley off the island after she saves Leon at the end of Chapter 15 .

Our Resident Evil 4 remake Chapter 16 walkthrough will ensure you don’t miss any items from the beginning of the chapter through Luis’s Laboratory , the (ruined) Sanctuary , Loading Docks , the Osmund Saddler boss fight , and Underground Passage .

Throughout this walkthrough, we’re not going to mention every item that anyone (or anything) you shoot drops — if you kill something, look for a loot drop.

Also, there’s a little randomness to the contents of crates based on your inventory and weapons, so you probably won’t find the exact same things listed below. The crates and barrels themselves will always be in the same locations, though. And all other items — keys, collectibles, and resources not found in crates — should be the same.

Escape the island // Luis’s Laboratory

After Ashley saves Leon’s life, you’ll start off in Luis’s Laboratory .

When you’re back in control, turn right. Grab the first aid spray , and smash the crate for some rifle ammo . Grab the Methods for Eradicating Las Plagas and Group Photo files from the table to the right. Continue right for another crate with resources (S) and pesetas and pick up the Saddler’s Animus file from the table.

Continue around clockwise to the computer for the The Amber file, and the computer opposite it for the Emails file.

Resident Evil 4 remake Leon looking up at a treasure lantern just outside of Luis’s Laboratory.

Push through the doors. As soon as you exit, look up at the ceiling for a treasure lantern.

The treasure inside will fall on the catwalk, so we’ll have to grab it in a minute. There’s nothing else to pick up, so boost Ashley onto the crates along the left side so she can kick down a ladder to you.

Resident Evil 4 remake map from Luis’s Laboratory to the final Merchant room with a path and items marked.

Climb up, and go grab the velvet blue you just shot down. Follow the hallway to the left for a crate with gunpowder . Head toward the door to the right and grab the rifle ammo and resources (S) . Smash the barrels by the door for pesetas and gunpowder .

Head through the door.

Resident Evil 4 remake using the Biosensor Scope to find novistadors in the ruined Sanctuary

That door leads you back to a balcony overlooking the Sanctuary. Stand at the railing ahead of you and use the Biosensor Scope to check for camouflaged novistadors. Take a right and drop down the ledges at the end. Keep following the path.

Resident Evil 4 remake Leon approaching the altar in the collapsed Sanctuary

At the first intersection, take a left and duck under the fallen pillar. Keep going until you reach the altar. To the right, pick up the Iluminados Final Chapter file, and then go to the monolith behind the altar to find the Iluminados Pendant . Loop around to the back and read the inscription for the Provenance Monolith file.

Backtrack to the intersection and cross to the other side. Climb up the ledges at the end of the path. Just before the doors, look for some gunpowder on the railing to your left.

Through the doors, follow the tunnel some more. When you vault the low wall, there are two novistadors waiting for you.

Resident Evil 4 remake Leon approaching the final Merchant room.

At the end of the hall, across from the Merchant’s room, open the treasure chest for a Gold Ingot .

Merchant (for the last time)

In the Merchant’s room, grab the gunpowder from the shelves on the right and smash the two crates for pesetas and resources (S) .

Sell Luis’s Key , the Iluminados Pendant , and the Gold Ingot . This is your last visit with the Merchant, so feel free to sell off any gemstones for the extra cash if you’re not going to play through again. If you plan on coming back for more, though, keep them — your entire inventory carries over into the new game.

If you haven’t done so yet, buy the Body Armor — it’s just extra health for the coming boss fight.

Buy any tune ups and save. It’s time to finish this.

Loading Docks // Osmund Saddler (final boss fight)

Head outside and to the left. Stop at the binocular vista to spot Ada. Continue left into the elevator. After the cutscene (which brings the life-saving tally to three for Ada and one for Leon), you’ll have to face off against the mutated Osmund Saddler .

Luckily (and ickily), he’s covered in glowing, yellow eyeball weak points.

How to beat Resident Evil 4 Remake final boss

The fight against Saddler is equal parts straightforward (shoot the various eyeballs) and annoying (he moves a lot, hits hard, and summons a swarm of novistadors).

Resident Evil 4 remake map of the Loading Docks boss fight arena with items marked.

The level of the Loading Docks you start on is basically a straight hallway, so your maneuverability will be limited. You can, however, run under him (like back in the El Gigante fights).

We will be dropping down to the lower level in a second so there’s more room to move (run away), but for now, stay up here — there are several barrels and crates and items to grab. Once you’re pretty sure you got everything (while also shooting Saddler), drop off the platform heading north. The lower level is a large, upside-down U shape that gives you a lot more options for running away. However, Saddler will periodically jump high up and smash down on a section of the docks, destroying them and removing some of your options.

Resident Evil 4 remake Leon approaching a collapsed Saddler to stab him in the eye

Your goal for right now is just to hit his eyeballs — destroying two of them will stun him and you’ll get a chance to run up and stab him in his mouth-eyeball (gross).

During the first part of this fight, just keep shooting knee-eyeballs and stabbing him in the eye whenever you can. There are a few exploding barrels scattered around to give you some help.

Resident Evil 4 remake Leon trying to avoid one of Saddler’s tail attacks

Keep an eye out for the evade prompt. This will let you dodge Saddler’s (shockingly damaging) tail attacks.

Resident Evil 4 remake Leon rearing up to prepare for a charge attack

Also watch for Saddler to rear up — he’ll charge at you right after. Do your best to run away and get to the side when he does that.

Resident Evil 4 remake using a rifle and scope to shoot Saddler when he jumps up to the tower

When you deal enough damage, Saddler will leap up to a tower in the middle of the docks and then summon a lot of novistadors. If you have the ammo, use a rifle to snipe his eyeballs when he’s up there. He’ll do this a couple times during the fight.

Resident Evil 4 remake Leon running away from Saddler and his swarm of novistadors

Do your best to keep moving and ignore as many of the novistadors as you can — when Saddler comes back down, he’ll kill a lot of them as collateral. Try to keep your focus on Saddler.

Resident Evil 4 remake Leon running away from Saddler’s acid spit attack

Saddler has two acid spit moves: a horizontal sweeping attack, and a three-part vertical attack. Duck under (or try to) the horizontal one and sidestep the vertical one.

After enough eyeball-shooting, Saddler will fall off the docks and phase two will start. It’s a lot more straightforward.

Resident Evil 4 remake Leon facing the final mutation of Saddler

There’s just one giant, glowing weak point now, and you only have a few steps of movement in any direction. Switch to your strongest weapon (we used the Stingray with the scope removed) and start unloading into it.

Resident Evil 4 remake Leon avoiding a tentacle attack during the final phase of the Saddler fight

Two spiky tentacles will pop up in front of you. If the tentacle stays straight up and down, it’ll slam down along one of the sides (whichever side it’s on) — you just have to sidestep it. If the tentacle twists a little, it’s going to swipe across horizontally and you’ll have to evade it.

Resident Evil 4 remake the special rocket launcher Ada gives Leon at the end of the fight

Once you deal enough damage, Ada will return to drop off the rocket launcher (special) . Fire it into the weak point to end the fight.

Escape from the island // Underground Passage

When the fight is over, you’ll get one more cutscene, and then a countdown to the island exploding will start.

When the elevator stops, you’ll have a path out ahead of you. There are no turns, so we’ll just call out the items as you pass. Just a few steps in, there’s a green herb on your left — just before the final typewriter.

After the left turn, the path will start crumbling. Just past that, the tunnel opens up a little. Ignore the guy who busts through the door ahead of you and step inside — and ignore all the rest of the writhing soldiers there too.

Resident Evil 4 remake Underground Passage Clockwork Castellan 16 of 16 location

Just past the truck, there’s a green forklift on the right. Turn and face it to find the final Clockwork Castellan 16 of 16 on the crates just to the left. You’ll get the Revolution Wind-Up achievement or trophy when you get all 16 — and you’ll be able to buy the Primal Knife from the main menu’s Extra Content Shop (its Exclusive upgrade makes it indestructible).

Continue through the door and around the next corner where you’ll have to push on a metal cabinet for a painfully long time.

Around the next corner, you'll come to the Water Scooter that Ada gave you the Water Scooter Key for.

Resident Evil 4 remake Leon and Ashley riding the water scooter through a tunnel to escape the island

The next section is Leon and Ashley’s water stunt spectacular with a lot of boating very fast through collapsing tunnels. There’s not a lot of subtlety here — accelerate with R2 on the straightaways and let go during the turn-y bits.

Resident Evil 4 remake Leon and Ashley floating on a water scooter after escaping the island

At the end, Leon and Ashley (literally) ride off into the sunset. And then there’s a post-credits scene, as well as a post-post-credits scene.

And that’s a wrap on the Resident Evil 4 remake. Make sure to check out the rest of our Resident Evil 4 remake guides for any Requests, files, treasures, or Clockwork Castellans you missed.

Resident Evil 4 Remake: How to Defeat Osmund Saddler

The big bad of the Resident Evil 4 remake might appear intimidating, but with the right strategy, Saddler can be brought down to his knees.

The entire journey of Leon in Capcom's Resident Evil 4 remake is all about saving Ashley Graham from the clutches of Los Illuminados. At the head of this religious movement is Osmund Saddler, a bio-weapons research chief turned fanatic, who has been sending the infected to stop Leon from completing his objective.

While this big bad has plenty of manpower at his disposal, Leon will eventually catch up to Saddler, culminating in one last boss fight to take down the leader once and for all. This guide will provide all the vital information needed on how to defeat Osmund Saddler in Resident Evil 4 and get Ashley to safety to complete the mission.

With Saddler now revealing his true form as a slimy arachnid-like monster, it would be understandable for players to feel slightly apprehensive. After all, this is supposed to be the most dangerous individual in the whole game. Thankfully, things are not as worrisome as they appear to be.

By looking closely at Saddler, his weak points are very apparent. There are six eyes that can be shot at by players to inflict heavy damage on the boss, but the real problem is having limited space to work with. Always keep a distance from Saddler, shoot at the weak points, and if he gets stunned, get up close to have Leon stab him in the main eyeball. A good handgun like the Red9 will do well here, as will a shotgun like the Striker if the distance is short enough. For those that cannot get the timing down right when the eyes are open, use an SMG like the LE 5.

In addition, during the fight, moving around will get Saddler close to some explosive barrels conveniently placed in the arena. Use them for an advantage to stagger this monster, and get close to deal heavy damage with a nice stab. Be sure to also use Grenades and Mines to keep the pressure up.

There will also be other smaller enemies that will join the fight, but focusing on Saddler alone should be the main focus. If enough damage is dealt before he can summon his allies, it will be easier for Leon to finish the entire encounter with fewer problems. Eventually, Saddler will seemingly fall, but like all good boss fights, here comes the second phase.

Leon will now find himself face-to-face with a huge hulking mess of slimy tendrils and innards, with Saddler's once punchable face now reduced to a giant glowing orb. Now is the time to bring out all the big guns like the Killer7 Magnum , the Stingray Rifle, or the good old shotguns to do as much damage to the orb as possible.

The boss will try to hit Leon, so look out for the Evade prompt to avoid any damage. If the tentacles are raised up high, simply run to the opposite end to avoid the slam attack. Keep it up, and Ada will come to the rescue once more by throwing a special rocket launcher to Leon, grab the weapon and fire it into the orb to end the reign of Saddler.

While the boss fight against Saddler is not the toughest there is in the game, there is a way to make it even easier from the start. Before entering the arena, either purchase a rocket launcher from the Merchant, or grab one from storage. Once the fight starts, simply fire the rocket launcher at Saddler's main eye to end the first phase immediately.

For players who happen to have the Infinite Rocket Launcher , this boss fight will become a procession, and Leon will live to see another day much more smoothly than before.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Chapter 16: How to beat Osmund Saddler

Let's finally get out of here.

At last, we have finally reached the ultimate chapter of Resident Evil 4 Remake . Leon (and Ashley) have dealt with a hell of a lot so far, with Leon beating giants, lake monsters, and multiple paarsites in the process.

Leon has one last thing left to do before taking Ashley home, however, and that's making sure this island and the Las Plagas parasite is gone for good. Alas, it's time for us to face Saddler and burn the island to a crisp. Here's the final chapter of Resident Evil 4 Remake , which explains how to beat Saddler and escape the island .

Resident Evil 4 Remake Chapter 16

After taking Ashley to Luis’ laboratory in Chapter 15 , Leon will also succumb to the Las Plaga parasite. However, there’s no need to worry, because Ashley has us covered. At the start of Chapter 16, Leon will wake up right as rain again. Now, it’s time to make our way off this damned island.

Exit Luis’ laboratory and have Ashley lower the collapsible ladder on your left.

Leon faces a ladder with Ashley in front of it in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Go up the ladder and follow the path around into the Sanctuary. At the end of the Sanctuary, you can loot an Iluminados Pendant. On the right-hand side of the room, however, where there is seemingly a dead-end, you can grapple up a ledge.

Leon faces the ledge in the Sanctuary in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Continue through the next tunnel until you reach the Merchant . If you have any unfinished business across Resident Evil 4, he’ll now warn you that this is the time to tend to it.

Once we head outside and get Chapter 16 truly kicked off, there’s no turning back! That said, make sure to do everything you want to do with the Merchant right now, too, as we’re about to face the ominous Osmund Saddler.

When you’re ready, go outside and take the elevator down towards Ada.

How to beat Osmund Saddler in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Following the cutscene, we’ll be fighting with Saddler-turned-spider, as his mutated form looks horribly like an alien arachnid. Let’s not also forget he has a dozen Novistadors around, helping divert your attention from shooting him.

Tackle the Novistadors as soon as they appear so that they don’t swarm you. The rest of the time, we want to be aiming at the glowing eyes on Saddler’s limbs. When you successfully damage all the eyes, he’ll stumble, giving us the opportunity to melee the eye on his head, or fire a hefty shot at it.

Saddler has a few attacks he can throw at us. Firstly, you’ll need to avoid some of his attacks by evading them when the prompt appears. Other times, he’ll swipe at you with his claws; you’ll want to run to evade these, or simply keep your distance. When he climbs around the arena, he’ll also throw debris at you, which you’ll want to avoid.

Leon faces a mutated Saddler in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Keep a keen eye out for him straight-up jumping atop Leon, and on occasion, he’ll projective vomit up some corrosive spit at you. Yum. Other times, he’ll try to slam you with one of his many sharp limbs. Ultimately, this fight is a lot of running back and forth, trying to find the right time to blast away those beady eyes.

As the fight goes on, Saddler will slowly break parts of the boss arena, gradually limiting you to a smaller space. So, run around and loot the area as early as possible if you’re short on ammo or medicine.

At short-range, I personally found my fully upgraded pistol to do the trick (I was using the Blacktail for most of my first run). When I struggled, the shotgun was better for ensuring you hit Saddler’s weak spots without needing precise aim.

At long-distance, when Saddler begins to climb the surrounding beams in the arena, I whipped out the Stingray rifle, with the Biosensor Scope still attached. This made targeting those eyes of Saddler’s super easy, and also super satisfying.

Don’t forget that you can use your grenades when Saddler is on the ground, too, for some extra damage. You might as well use everything you’ve got left!

After three melee attacks on the giant, a cutscene will play out. We’re then faced with the second phase of this right, which sees Saddler reduced to a huge pile of writhing tentacles. Shoot at him, and dodge his attacks, until Ada comes to save the day with a grenade launcher.

Leon faces Saddler while holding the grenade launcher in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Use the grenade launcher to then finish Saddler off for good.

How to escape the island in Resident Evil 4 Remake

After the next cutscene, it’s time for Leon and Ashley to flee this island before it explodes. You’ll have a short timer appear now, and all you need to do is run straight; the path from here to our ride out of here is completely linear, and there are no enemies to worry about!

When you arrive at the boat, use the key on it and hop aboard. Now, the fun begins! Ride out of the cave, while dodging any following rocks and taking care to not drive into any hurdles. If the boat becomes too damaged, your mission will be failed at the final hurdle, and we don’t want that.

For some reason, I couldn’t help but shake my controller like I was playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe each time Leon went over a ramp. I hope I wasn't alone in that. Anyway, have fun, and once you’re out of this cave, it’s all over!

Enjoy the final cutscenes, and make sure to wait for those credits to roll… you’re in for a nice surprise. Congratulations for completing Resident Evil 4, now do it again in New Game Plus !

Resident Evil 4 Remake: How to Beat Lord Saddler Boss Fight Guide

Image of Jason Rodriguez

Lord Saddler is the final boss in the Resident Evil 4 remake . This leader of the Los Illuminados cult has been a threat as seen in Leon’s visions, and it’s time to put a stop to his schemes. Here’s our guide to help you beat the final boss Lord Saddler in Resident Evil 4 Remake .

How to beat Lord Saddler in Resident Evil 4 Remake

The Lord Saddler final boss encounter in the Resident Evil 4 remake takes place at the end of Chapter 16. Once you leave the temple ruins and reach the loading docks, you’ll meet the Merchant, making this the last save hub and point of no return in the entire campaign.

As for the Saddler encounter, you could make quick work of him with the Rocket Launcher if you want. Though arguably more fun to take him down with your arsenal of other guns.

assignment ada how to beat saddler

Lord Saddler Boss Fight Phase 1

The first phase of the Resident Evil 4 remake Lord Saddler boss fight takes place in the loading docks area, which has wide pathways that you can use for traversal. Your opponent will transform, turning into a humongous creature that will beeline for Leon. Here’s the gist:

  • Saddler looks a bit like an arachnid, and there’s a small eye in the middle of his “head.” This is somewhat hard to hit, so you’re better off shooting the larger eyes on his legs. This will stun him, allowing Leon to pounce with a melee strike.
  • You can run away from your opponent and climb down the ladder, leading to the larger docking area. There’s a crank along the opposite side that creates a walkway, too.
  • If Saddler jumps to the top of the crane, he’ll do a devastating ground smash that will destroy a portion of the arena. However, if he repositions closer to explosives and other hazards, you can use those against him.
  • Your foe will also periodically summon Novistadors, the annoying flying bugs. Make sure you shoot them quickly or they’ll pester you throughout the encounter.

assignment ada how to beat saddler

Your best bet when dealing with this phase of the Lord Saddler final boss fight in the Resident Evil 4 remake is to use upgraded weapons (as noted in our best weapon upgrades guide ).

The Red9/Blacktail, Stingray, and CQBR Assault Rifle perform admirably here. Go ahead and pop the “leg eyes” before closing in for a melee sequence. If you’re able to do this roughly three times, you’ll move on to the next part.

Lord Saddler Boss Fight Phase 2

assignment ada how to beat saddler

The Lord Saddler boss fight has a shorter and simpler second phase. This time, Leon is surrounded by Saddler’s tentacles, though the central core is visible. As such, you’ll want to continue shooting it with your weapons.

Your foe will also attempt to smash you with tentacles. If you see a sweeping motion, you can press the button prompt to evade it. But, if you see a forward smash, you have to be ready to parry or sidestep.

Shortly thereafter, Ada Wong will return and toss a special Rocket Launcher to Leon. Aim and fire the explosive, and Saddler will turn into calamari.

RE4 Remake Escape Sequence

assignment ada how to beat saddler

After you beat Lord Saddler in RE4 , there’s a short cutscene, followed by the entire facility going up in smoke. Now, you’ll need to escape with Ashley following you.

This entire section has a self-destruct sequence and you have to escape within 2:10. Think of this as a slightly cinematic experience, as you don’t really end up fighting other enemies, but there’s one last Clockwork Castellan that you’d want to be aware of.

Eventually, the two will reach a jetski. The goal in this high-speed sequence is to move sideways to avoid crumbling pillars and large obstacles. The timer will continue running here but, if you manage to survive, you’ll be able to watch the game’s ending and see your completion rank .

With all that, you’ve slain Lord Saddler and saved Ashley.. until your next playthrough, where you’ll do it all over again but cooler. Check out some of our other RE4 remake guides here on GameSkinny for some help with that.

How To Beat The Osmund Saddler Boss Fight In Resident Evil 4 Remake

Saddler gives up his human form in the boss fight’s opening cutscene and becomes a giant monster from the powerful Plagas parasite within him. In order to damage this powerful form, you will need to target the classic Resident Evil eyeball weak spot found on each one of Saddler’s four legs. To destroy these eyes, simply shoot them with any of your weapons.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Osmund Saddler Boss Fight

Once you destroy the eye on each of Saddler’s four legs, the boss will collapse and give you the chance to attack the center eye found in his mouth. You can perform a critical strike with your knife by approaching Saddler’s mouth and hitting the attack button. This will deal big damage and will see the eyes on all of his legs reform so that you start to stun him again. Eventually, Saddler will jump away and summon a swarm of Novistador enemies. While you should be aware of these enemies, your main goal should be targeting Saddler’s eyes to keep doing damage to him.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Osmund Saddler Boss Fight

Eventually, a cutscene will play that sees Saddler evolve into his final form. You will need to survive on a small platform and dodge the attacks that the boss sends your way via his large tendrils. After some time, Ada will throw you an RPG. Pick up the launcher and, as is Resident Evil tradition, shoot the glowing weak spot to defeat the boss.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Osmund Saddler Boss Fight

When the rocket hits, a cutscene will play that sees Leon finally kill Saddler, bringing his boss fight to an end. Upon defeating the game’s final boss, You will also unlock the You’re Small Time Achievement and Trophy. From here, you just need to escape the exploding island to officially complete the main story of Resident Evil 4 Remake .
