1 . We always round up numbers to make figures easy.

Eg. 10/3 = 3.3333. Rounding numbers to the nearest whole number 3 makes this number easy to understand.

2.  Rounding numbers makes them simpler to use.

Eg. 3.33333. Is it easy to multiply 3.33333 x 5 or just 3 x 5. The latter is much easy compared to the former multiplication. We can easily write the ans as 15. But they are slightly less accurate.

3.  For a considerably larger number, you need to round the number as they are comparitively much small.

Eg. Consider a large number 9,835,300.65. The value 0.65 is extremely small considered to the the neighbouring numbers (9,835,300). Here there is no need to worry about the accuracy as the value after decimal dot is comparitively small.

1) what are rounding numbers.

Rounding numbers is to add to or subtract numbers from (altering numbers) the number to be rounded. This is done to make the figures easy for calculations. Adding numbers is rounding up and subtracting numbers is rounding down.

2) What is called rounding down of numbers?

We round numbers to the nearest ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, and so on. Rounding down to nearest tens. Eg. 23- Consider the last digit 3. If the numbers falls between 1 and 4 then we need to round down numbers. Thus 23 is rounded down to 20. Rounding down to nearest hundreds. Eg. 428- Consider the last two digits. If the number falls between 1 and 49 then we need to round down numbers. Thus 428 is rounded down to 400.

3) What is meant by rounding decimals?

When we round decimals we consider the digits after the decimal dot. We generally round decimals to the nearest whole number or to the nearest, hundredths, thousandths, hundred thousandths and so on. Eg. 2.6. We will follow the same rule as we followed when rounding whole numbers. 1-4, rounding down and 5-9, rounding up. So upon rounding 2.6 to the nearest tenths, it is 3. Round 56.78 to the nearest hundredth. We round up values and 56.78 becomes 56.8

Rounding numbers – Free Worksheets, Rules and Posters

What is rounding?

Rounding numbers mean adjusting the value of a number(up or down) to make calculations easier and simpler. The answers given by the rounded numbers are not accurate and precise but close to its value.

Rounding Rules:

In the whole numbers, start by looking at the place value of the digit. Next, look at the digit on the right side of your rounding number.

• If the number is between 1-4, then, you don’t change the rounding number. Only the numbers on the right side turn to zero.

                     Example : 449 becomes 400 when rounded to the nearest hundreds.

• If the number is between 5 -9, then, you add 1 to the rounding number and the numbers on right turn to zero.

                     Example: 7741 becomes 8000 when rounded to nearest thousands .

Rounding Examples:

Rounding numbers to the nearest 10:.

At the start, children are introduced with the number line to calculate the answers. To round, the number to the nearest 10 check the units column. If the number in the units column is 1-4 we round it down, as discussed in rounding rules, but if it is 5 to 9 we round the number up.

Rounding to the nearest 100:

When rounding the number to the nearest 100, look at the tens digit. 5 to 9 round the number up, 1 to 4 round it down.

Rounding to the nearest 1000:

For rounding to 1000, you have to look at the digit in the hundreds place.

The pga tour travels to the lone star state as some players make final preparations for the first major of the year.

A dramatic Florida swing has come and gone, giving way for the return of the 2024 Houston Open. Not on the PGA Tour schedule in 2023, the Houston Open has found its way back on the calendar and will welcome a number of heavy hitters to Memorial Park Golf Course for the fourth time.

Leading the way is the man who owned the Florida swing: Scottie Scheffler. A winner at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Players Championship in his last two starts, the world No. 1 has eyes on his third straight victory this week. Scheffler was unable to rattle off three in a row in 2022 but hopes to join players like Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods by winning three consecutive starts.

Scheffler has performed well at Memorial Park in his career and is the heavy favorite to claim the title, but Wyndham Clark may have something to say. A runner-up to Scheffler at both Bay Hill and TPC Sawgrass, the reigning U.S. Open champion has entered the conversation of being a top-five player in the world.

Clark eyes his second win of the season after claiming the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. His fellow Americans Tony Finau, Sahith Theegala and Will Zalatoris all hope to enter the winner's circle for the first time in 2024, with Finau being the last man to win at Memorial Park in the Fall of 2022.

Rays’ home opener sells out. Would a new stadium bring crowds year-round?

ST. PETERSBURG — Soon they would be all noise and movement, clogging the concourse and the walkways, clutching enormous hot dogs and moonshine slushies before settling butts into sold-out seats — ignoring the empty 300 level, which wasn’t put on sale. Then they were lifting them back out again as Yandy Diaz slapped a ball over the leftfield wall for the first run of the Tampa Bay Rays’ season.

But before all that, as 25,025 fans filled Tropicana Field on Thursday for what the Rays hope to be the stadium’s fourth-to-last home opener, Bob Teele was out in Lot 2, reflecting for a minute on 1998. Before the Rays ever played a game, he waited overnight, with a sandwich and a lawn chair, for a ticket to see St. Petersburg’s new Major League Baseball team. Years later, he began organizing an annual opening day tailgate to support a nonprofit named for his late son, Derek, who died in a car crash in 2007. The home opener at the Trop is always packed, and Bob Teele has never missed one.

But Teele, who makes the drive from Clearwater for 10 or 15 games a season, knows as well as anyone how mightily the Rays struggle to fill the seats the rest of the year.

“Travel’s a cop-out excuse,” he said of the conventional reasoning for the team’s attendance struggles — that St. Pete is just too far for most people. “If you like baseball, you find a way to come.”

This is what the Rays are betting on: that location is no object, and that a new stadium — even one across the parking lot from Tropicana Field — will court the crowds that have generally eluded the team. As the season got underway Thursday, the Rays and city believe they’re closing in on a deal to make it happen.

Votes by the St. Petersburg City Council and Pinellas County Commission could come as soon as May on the terms for a $1.3 billion stadium and a plan to turn the lots around it into homes, offices and an entertainment destination.

For 18 seasons in a row now, not counting the pandemic-altered 2020 season, the Rays have sold out their home opener. In those years, Tampa Bay has finished in the bottom two of the MLB in attendance 11 times. It has never ranked better in that time than 22nd, which it did in 2010. Last year’s rank, 27th, was its best since then. And it’s still chasing the high of its inaugural 1998 campaign, during which an average of more than 30,000 people packed the Trop.

Providing a good on-field product has hardly moved the needle, with the Rays consistently ranking near last despite five straight postseason appearances. The contrast between quality and quantity was starkest last year, when the Rays made history to begin the season — tying the modern-era record with 13 straight wins out of the gate — only to end it with two playoff games attended by the smallest nonpandemic postseason crowds in 100 years.

Fans on hand to watch the team’s 27th season begin expressed a mix of optimism and skepticism.

“I’m not convinced a new stadium is definitely the answer,” said Ashley Gonnelli, a St. Petersburg native, now living in Palm Harbor, who has cheered for the team since its inception. “I hope it is.”

Location might be one factor, she said, but she doubted it was the only one. She and her husband, Bill, and their two kids were about to join the tide flowing into the Trop — a decisive Rays majority.

“Usually we’re like the away team,” he said.

Austin Dobrowolski was 15 on the Rays’ first opening day in 1998. He and a friend sat in the nosebleeds and heckled the beer guy. He lives in St. Petersburg and loves being close enough to easily attend a handful of games a year. But still: “I think it should be in downtown Tampa,” he said.

“I think they’ll sell out for the first couple of years,” he said of the plan for a new St. Petersburg stadium. New ballparks have a well-established novelty effect. “Then it’ll be right back to this.”

For a while, that was the idea for the Rays — to get away from their longtime home. The Rays’ owners have been agitating for a new stadium, or a move to Tampa, for the past 16 years.

Team and Major League officials echoed a longtime fan complaint: Nestled in a downtown grid toward the southern end of a peninsula, across the water from the region’s actual population center, the Trop was too hard to get to. Analyses by both the Rays and county planners found that a proposed Ybor City site would have dramatically increased the number of people living within a short drive of the stadium. A half-decade later, they say they are committed to St. Petersburg.

In years past, the Rays have kept new-stadium talk at a minimum during the season. That won’t be possible in 2024, with the team eager to get a deal done in order to keep a timeline to have a new stadium open in 2028, and with St. Petersburg City Council and Pinellas County Commission votes on the subject still to be scheduled.

Inside the stadium, Tyler Cochrane, 19, showed off the Rays logo tattoo on his left biceps. He’s 19, a Pinellas County native, part of the first generation born into Rays fandom. He knows a lot of people think the Trop is an eyesore; to him, it’s a “classic place.” He lives in Largo, and the idea that St. Petersburg can’t support a ballpark seemed silly to him.

“If you’re a real Rays fan,” he said, “you’ll make the drive.”

Panthers’ 3 best players to target with first pick of 2024 NFL Draft

T he Carolina Panthers finished last season as the worst team in the NFL with a 2-15 record. Yet, they don’t have a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Panthers decided to trade their 2024 first-round draft pick (among others) to the Chicago Bears last year to move up to the No. 1 pick to select quarterback Bryce Young. It’s yet to be determined if Young is the right answer for Carolina with only one season under his belt, but it’s clear that the Panthers could use all the help they can get. It just won’t start in the first round.

To make their first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Panthers will have to wait until day 2, with the first pick of the second round, No. 33 overall. But the Panthers could go a number of ways with their first pick. That’s not just because they have needs at almost every position, it’s also because they have another just six picks later at No. 39. They earned the pick after trading edge rusher Brian Burns to the New York Giants.

Depending on how the draft plays out on day one will determine who the Panthers value as the best player on the board. We’re going to do our best to determine who could be the three best players the Panthers could target with their first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Payton Wilson, LB, NC State

If the Panthers want to attempt to replace Burns, then Payton Wilson could be a good option if he’s still available in the second round. It’s likely that Wilson will still be there, though, given that many teams could be a little hesitant of the almost 24-year-old. He suffered through knee injuries while at NC State that kept him off the field. However, when he was on the field, he was one of the best defenders in college football.

Zach Frazier, C, West Virginia

The Panthers are going to have to find Bradley Bozeman’s replacement eventually after he left to be with Jim Harbaugh and the Los Angeles Chargers in free agency. However, Carolina is said to be moving Austin Corbett to center next season, per Joe Person of The Athletic . That is if he can stay healthy, as he dealt with multiple knee issues last season that kept him to playing only four games at guard. Regardless, that doesn’t seem like a long-term plan, so selecting a reliable center, protecting their former No. 1 overall pick in Bryce Young seems to be a major priority.

Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State

Free agency has already helped the Panthers out in a major way with their wide receiver issue. The Panthers decided they would trade cornerback Donte Jackson to the Pittsburgh Steelers for receiver Diontae Johnson . Although it came as a bit of a surprise to some, it was clear that Young was going to need playmakers, as Carolina was voided of such a thing last season. That’s not to say that they won’t add more, though, as there is plenty of room for another high-end receiver. Keon Coleman could fill that role.

Coleman was considered one of the best receivers in college football last season. He was a big part of the Seminoles’ success that probably should have gotten them in the College Football Playoff. At 6-foot-4, he can leap above pretty much any defensive back and win most contested catches.
