I am a great admirer of Iqbal. He was not only a great poet but also a great philosopher. He is commonly known as the greatest philosopher-poet of Asia. As a matter of fact, he deserves this title.

Iqbal was born at Sialkot at the end of the 19th century and received his early education in his native town. After passing his Intermediate examination from Murray College, Sialkot, he came to join the Government College, at Lahore. He took his M.A. in Philosophy with distinction and joined the Government College staff. Soon he went to England where he studied the law. When he came back, he settled down in Lahore as a practicing lawyer. But he never felt keenly eager for this profession as he had a higher calling before him. [the_ad id=”17141″]At this time his first book, ‘Bang-i-Dara’ appeared. It contained some poems of his early youth. These poems were quite different in the matter and tone from the poems that were popular in his days. There were also many poems in this collection which gave expression to his patriotic feelings. At the time when these poems were written, there was a great movement in India for an inter-communal unity. Iqbal was also much impressed by this movement. But soon he realized that narrow nationalism was against the teachings which do not believe in territorial loyalties of Islam lubes, and whose message is for all the people of all the countries of the world. This brought a great change in his views and the same Iqbal who once sang praises for the Himalayas and the Ganges became a poet of international ideals.

After “Bang-i-Dara’, Iqbal wrote mostly in Persian and his later works contain mostly his Persian poems. But soon he realized that the common man in India- could not understand Persian. Therefore, once again, he began to write in Urdu. His Urdu works that followed Bang-i-Dara are comparatively difficult in expression and thought. These books set a new standard of literary excellence which none could match. All those who tried to imitate his style failed, and Iqbal is still matchless.

What attracts me most towards Iqbal and his poetry is the message of life that is conveyed by his poems. When he began to write poetry, Islam was passing through a critical phase. In India, the Muslims were being rapidly dominated by the Hindus. He foresaw their downfall and warned them against the consequences The Muslims, in other parts of the world, to were in no better condition. Turkey, Egypt, Persia and Afghanistan, all were Muslim states only in name. [the_ad id=”17142″]Their politics, their economy, their education, and above all, their religious ideas were being influenced by the thoughts prevailing in the West. He foresaw all these things like a clear-sighted prophet and warned the people against the cultural suicide which they were unknowingly committing. He called the Muslim youth back to the Holy Quran and Hadith and placed before them the Islamic philosophy. Iqbal was the first man who visualized Pakistan, and in his presidential address at the All – India Muslim League Conference at Allahabad, in 1930, he clearly pointed out to the partition of India. His poems too expressed this idea in a very forceful manner. He gave a new life to the youth of his nation. He looked forward to a new age of freedom and achievement.

Iqbal was not only a great poet but also a great leader of thought. He placed before the people his philosophy of self-realization, which means the realization of the capacities of one’ s soul. His poetry is full of force and confidence. It inspires us to life of struggle against the forces of evil. He is our national hero and that is, indeed, a very great honour for a poet. Allama Iqbal is our national poet. In fact, he is the poet of all the Islamic world. He was born at Sialkot on 9th November 1877. He belonged to a respectable Kashmiri family. He got his early education there. Even as a child he showed signs of great promise. During his school days, he came under the influence of a great scholar, Maulvi Mir Hassan. He passed his Intermediate Examination from Murrey College, Sialkot. After this, he went to Lahore and passed his M.A. philosophy. For some days he served as a professor at Government College. Then he proceeded to England for higher education. On his return from Europe, he began to practice as a lawyer. But he did not like this profession. He was interested in poetry and national problems. He was pained to see that the Muslims were poor, ignorant and backward. At that time Iqbal’s fame had spread in the sub-continent as a rising poet and great thinker. In the course of time, his fame travelled beyond the boundaries of his own land.

He expressed his feelings in his poems. He wrote his poems at first in Urdu and then in Persian. His poetry is full of hope. He wrote poems in praise of culture. Every verse of Iqbal is full of the spirit of life. He tried to awaken the Muslims of the whole world from the deep sleep. His poetry is full of vigour and confidence. His Urdu books of poetry are Bang-e-Dara, Bal-e-Jibreel and Zarb-e-Kaleem. He used Shaheen (Falcon) as a symbol of his concept of the true Muslim. Allama Iqbal gave the idea of a separate Muslim state in the sub-continent. He believed that the two nations could not peacefully live together in one state. He kept himself in close touch with Quaid-e-Azam. But he was not destined to see his dream come true in his life. he died on 21st  April 1938. He was buried near the Shahi Mosque in Lahore. He finished with the Master of Arts degree in 1899 as initiated his career as a reader of Arabic at Oriental College and shortly was selected as a junior professor of philosophy at Government College Lahore. In 1908, Iqbal returned from England and joined the same college again as a professor of philosophy and English literature. In the same period, Iqbal began practicing law at Chief Court Lahore. He hence became an active member of Anjuman-e-Himayat-e-Islam. In 1919, he became the general secretary of the same organization. He was deeply influenced by Western philosophers such as Friedrich Nietzsche, Henri Bergson, and Goethe.

Allama iqbal is my favourite personality.

Hero is man of outstanding character and matchless genius. He must be a man of unique qualities. though the Muslim History is full of great men, my hero in history is Allama Iqbal. I think, he is really a man worthly of the title ‘Hero’.

Allama Iqbal  was born in Sialkot in 1877.  He came to Lahore for learning after completing his primary education.  At that time the English were the rules of India. They were very cunning. They did not like the Muslims. They tried their best to keep the Muslims backward and ignorant. Iqbal, who was a great well-wisher of the Muslims, tried to awaken the Muslims from their sleep of ignorance through his poetry. He wrote a number of poems and verses to make the Muslims realize their negligence. He taught them a lesson of ‘self-esteem’. He made them realize the achievements of their forefathers. He wrote many letters to the Qauid-e-Azam to urge him to work for his nation.

In the session of Muslim League at Illahabad in 1930, he suggested the solution to the discontent of India. He showed a sure way of peace and happiness for the people living in India. Iqbal’s speech demonstrates his concern for his nation. He said that the Muslims were different in their religious, beliefs and traditions from the other nations living in the sub-continent . He said that the concept of nationality of the Muslims is quite different from those of other nations of the world. He said that India be divided into two nation states. The territories of the Muslims majority should be made a new Muslim state.

Iqbal was a great Muslim poet. His poetry was aimed at teaching the Muslims what they had forgotten. It was a lesson of their golden traditions and matchless achievements. He wrote his poetry urging the Muslims to break the slavery chain. His poetry is a permanent source of joy and inspiration for the Muslims. It is full of national feeling and sentiments.

Iqbal’s poetry places him in the sky of immortal fame high among the stars. he wrote poetry both in Urdu and Persian. Many reference to the Holy Quraan can be found in his poetry. Some critics go even to the extent that his poetry is the true explanation of the Holy Quraan. It elevates us spiritually and morally.

In this age when the Muslims are being insulted and crushed throughout the world, it is necessary that we should get guidance and inspirational from his poetry. If we study his poetry and follow his advice, we will surely regain our lost glory. His poetry is not for one time. It is for everyone and for every age. What a perfect code of ethics and morality his poetry is! May the Muslims of today read his poetry and get an urge to gain their golden past. Aameen!

There are many well-known names in the world of literature. The poems of Williams Words have impressed me the most. His poems soothe the sense. He was a devotee of nature. He was inspired by nature to write poetry. Recording Wordsworth is like sitting amidst nature.

William Wordsworth was the pioneer of the English Romantic Movement. He launched the English Romantic Revolution with the help of Samuel Taylor Coleridge. He was the poet laureate of England from 1843 to 1850. His poems depict man’s relation with nature. He also placed poetry at the center of human experience. Wordsworth created some of the greatest English poets of his centenary.

Wordsworth was born on April 7, 1770, in the Lake District of northern England. He was the second of five children of a prosperous estate manager. Both his parents died at an early age and so Wordsworth Was sent off by his guardian to a grammar school at Hawkshead. There he received education in classics literature and mathematics. He grew amidst nature playing and indulging in boyhood pleasure outdoors.

Wordsworth was an interpreter of nature in her many moods. The natural scenery of English lakes could terrify as well as please, which Wordsworth has later testified in his line, ” I grew up fostered alike by beauty and boy fear.” But its generally benign aspect gave the growing boy the confidence he articulated in one of his important poems Tintern Abbey ” that Nature never did betray the heart that loved her.

Wordsworth moved on in 1787 to St. John College, Cambridge. After attaining his degree from Cambridge he went to France he had to return to England in 1792.

For the first three or four years after his return to England Wordsworth had virtually no work. The aftermath of the war moved Wordsworth with sympathy for the sufferers. At this time he started writing poetry. He also reunited with his sister Dorothy whom he loved dearly. Wordsworth also became friends with Samuel Taylor Coleridge a fellow poet. They formed a partnership in writing. It is this partnership that altered the course of English poetry.

The Prelude is among Wordsworth’s finest poems. It reflects the growth of a poet’s mind. It is an autobiographical poem. It describes the way in which the imagination overpowers the reason and the senses. Wordsworth’s other works include The Excursion Ecclesiastical Sketches, Home at Grasmere The Borderers, Salisbury Plain, The River Duddon, etc. In his later years, Wordsworth revised the edition of his earlier poems.

Wordsworth wrote in Tintern Abbey that Nature never did betray the heart that loved her. He formulated in his poems, a new attitude towards nature. He introduced nature imagery into his poems. Critics placed him next to John Milton and William Shakespeare.

He met his daughter and his wife in 1802 when he went to France again for some time. Later, he got married, to Mary Hutchinson, a childhood friend. They were blessed with three sons and two daughters by 1810.

My Favourite Poet

The literature of any language is adorned by its poetry because poetry can convey the meanings beyond word using a few words. My favorite poet is William Wordsworth, a pioneer of romantic poetry in English literature. In his love for nature, he calls nature the ‘the nurse, the guide, the guardian of my heart/and the soul of all my moral being.’ He has this firm faith that close contact with nature can make us more human, kind, and generous to our fellow beings. His poetry is sensitive, impressive, and educative too. Among his famous poems, “The Solitary Reaper, Lines on Tintern Abbey, on Westminster Bridge and Daffodils’-I like ‘The Daffodils’, the best. In it, describing the beautiful daffodil flowers, he conveys how nature can be a perpetual source of joy and solace to the human heart. I always derive some inspiration and calm from his poetry.

Introduction: My favorite poet is Kazi Nazrul Islam. He is the rebel poet of Bengali literature. He is one of the greatest poets of Bangladesh.

Why He is My Favorite Poet: When I go through his poems, I feel joy. His “Agni Bina”, “Bisher Banshi”, “Jugabani”, “Rikter Bedan”, etc. are my favorite readings. His works inspired all to fight against all evils. His works inspired us in our liberation struggle.

Early Life: Kazi Nazrul Islam was born on the 11th Jaistha, 1306 B. S. in the village Churulia of Burdwan in West Bengal. He lost his father at an early age. He got his religious lessons in the village Maktab. He passed the lower primary examination with credit. Even in his boyhood, he could write poems. He joined the village “Letto” party which entertained the villagers with various performances. He composed songs and theatrical booklets for them. For the poverty of his family, he had to take up the job of a primary school teacher.

Nazrul was a boy of an adventurous spirit. When he was 12 years old, he fled away to Asansol. He worked in a baker’s shop. Later on, he was taken to a village of Mymensingh by a Muslim Sub-inspector of police. He got himself admitted into the Darirampur High School.

Joining Army: The first World War broke out. He gave up his studies, joined the Bengal Regiment, and went to the war. For his bravery in war, he was promoted to Havildar.

Literary Activities: Even in army life, he did not stop his literary composition. After the war, he came back to Calcutta and devoted himself to literary works. His remarkable poem ‘Bidrohi’ was first published in a weekly magazine called ‘Bijli’. His most famous works are ‘Agni Bina’, ‘Bisher Banshi’, ‘Dolanchapa’, ‘Sarbahara’, ‘Bandhanhara’, ‘Rkter Bedan’, etc. He was put to jail for writing ‘Agni Bina’. But he did not stop writing. He composed many verses and prose in the jail. Nazrul was not only a poet but also a great singer. He wrote many patriotic and Islamic songs. As a poet and singer, he has hardly any equal.

Poet of Freedom: Nazrul devoted his mighty pen to the cause of the country. He was a poet of oppressed people.

His Death: In 1942, he was attacked with an incurable disease of the brain. Since then he remained silent. He died on 29th August 1976 in Dhaka. He was buried by the Dhaka University mosque. But he lives in his works.
