Online marketing or e-marketing as often referred to all marketing activities carried out online to reach the customers as opposed to the traditional way of reaching the customer like print media, sales promotion, adverts on tv and on radio (Goldfarb, 2011).
social media marketing is viral marketing, which can be intentional or non-intentional. Many managers are now adding viral marketing as a way of promoting their brands. 1.2 Study Problem With the onset of the Internet, there has been increased globalization and a wider spread of information that has led to an increase in business activities.
The idea for the thesis emerged when I's started to wonder how online marketing affects the increasing customer awareness and preference for the products. In this thesis, I review the theoretical basis of marketing online and some tools that can be applied when doing marketing over the internet under consideration.
