Psychological and/or Neuro Psychiatric Test

This test is necessary to filter applicants who may be suffering from any mental disorder. All applicants are obliged to take the psychological and/or neuropsychiatric test to be administered by the PNP or any recognized institution.

This is another important screening wherein the PNP will conduct an intensive investigation regarding the applicant’s character as well as reputation. They will be doing a background investigation to determine if there are any questionable or criminal activities in which the applicant may be involved.

This is done in order to determine whether or not the applicant is in good health, and free from any contagious diseases, a physical and medical examination must be conducted by the city/municipal health officer or PNP medical officer after he/she qualifies for a preliminary interview.

Final Interview

The Screening Committee shall interview the qualified applicant for suitability for police work. The interview shall aid in determining likeableness, affability, attitude towards work, outside interest, forcefulness, conversational ability, disagreeable mannerisms, etc.

Why join the PNP?

Joining the Philippine National Police (PNP) offers not only a rewarding career but also a competitive salary and career progression opportunities. The PNP follows a rank system that allows personnel to advance based on their performance, skills, and years of service. The ranks range from Police Officer 1 (PO1) to the highest position of Police Director General. As individuals move up the ranks, their responsibilities, authority, and corresponding salary increase.

The PNP salary is structured in a way that provides a stable income, benefits, and allowances, including housing, medical coverage, and retirement plans. Moreover, being part of the police force offers a sense of pride and fulfillment, as it allows individuals to actively contribute to public safety, protect the rights of citizens, and uphold the rule of law. The opportunity to make a positive impact on society and create a safer environment for fellow Filipinos is a compelling reason to consider joining the PNP.

PNP Application Process - Police Lights in the background

How to Become a Police Officer in the Philippines - NaPolCom Exam, PNP CORES Online Application, RSP, PMDE

Novice police officers in the Philippines are among the best-paid entry-level jobs in the country. Not everyone, however, is fit to join the PNP. To become a member of our local men and women in blue, you must pass the eligibility exam, pass the physical, medical, and dental exams and you must not have been discharged from any government or AFP position.

If you are planning to become a part of the PNP, read on because will talk about the complete process of starting your career as a police officer in the Philippines.

Step 1: Check Your Eligibility

Before you start exercising and studying for the exam, you first need to check if you are eligible to become a Police Officer in the Philippines. To be eligible, you must fulfill these requirements:

  • Must be a Filipino citizen
  • PNP Age Limit: Not younger than 21 years old but not more than 30 years old
  • Bachelor’s Degree Holder
  • Male Height Requirement: At least 1.57 meters (5.1811 feet) in height for males*
  • Female Height Requirement: At least 1.52 (4.986 feet) meters for females*
  • You must not have been dismissed from the AFP
  • You must be eligible to hold a government position

*The height requirements may be waived if you are a member of a local indigenous person group. Go to your regional PNP Office to inquire.

Step 2: NAPOLCOM Entrance Exam

The NAPOLCOM holds an annual entrance exam for all those interested in applying for a PNP post. This exam is equal to any level 2 eligibility exam in the Philippines. This means that if you are already a board, bar, or professional Civil Service exam passer, you may no longer need to take the NAPOLCOM exam. If you are in doubt, please inquire with the nearest PNP Regional Office.

To pass the NAPOLCOM entrance exam, you will need an average of 70%.

Step 3: PNP CORES Online Application and Document Requirements

After passing the eligibility exam, you will need to submit an application online using the PNP Cores website. https://app.cores.prs.pnp.gov.ph/signup

On this website, you will be asked to enter your information and upload the required documents. At this point, you may want to prepare the following documents:

1. Notarized CSC and PNP Personal Data Sheet (handwritten)

2. PSA-issued Birth Certificate of the Police Applicant and Family Documents for Issuance of Certificate of Declared Beneficiary.

  • Computerized Affidavit of Confirmation (For Married and Single)
  • PSA Issued Advisory on Marriage of PNP personnel (For Married)
  • PSA Issued Advisory on Marriage of Spouse (For Married)
  • PSA Issued Marriage Contract (For Married)
  • PSA Issued Birth Certificate of Dependents (For Married and Single)
  • PSA Issued Certificate of Non-Marriage (CENOMAR) (For Single)
  • Photocopy of valid ID with three (3) specimen signatures (For Married and Single)

3. Affidavit of Undertaking Regarding Incontestability of Declared Birth Date

4. Educational Background

  • College Diploma and Transcript of Record (TOR)
  • General Weighted Average (GWA) of TOR
  • Good Moral Character (from school last attended)

5. Eligibility (NAPOLCOM/Civil Service Exam/PRC Board Exam)

  • Report of Rating
  • PRC shall also attach the authenticated PRC License

6. Authenticated copies of the following clearances

  • National Police Clearance
  • Barangay Clearance
  • Mayor / ADHOC Committee Recommendation
  • Prosecutor/Fiscal Clearance
  • MTC Clearance
  • RTC Clearance
  • NBI Clearance

7. Service Record for previous employment in the government service if any (Original)

8. Recent Pictures

  • 1pc Colored whole body picture (JPEG) with white background
  • 1 pc Bust-size(JPEG) with white background
  • 2 pcs 2×2 colored with name tag (JPEG) with white background

9. Photocopy of Valid ID

10. Tax Identification Number (TIN)

11. Height waiver, if applicable

Make sure that the information you enter is accurate because the address location information you enter will determine the region where you will be assigned.

Also, if your college course and PRC license are aligned with the needs of the PNP Regional Office, you may eligible to apply for a Lateral Entry Program for Technical Officers (LETO). Applicants who are accepted through the LETO will become commissioned officers upon appointment and they will have the lowest rank of Police Captain.

After completing your application on the PNP Cores website, you should receive an email containing instructions on what to do next and the application QR Code.

Wait for the instructions on where you will undergo the Recruitment and Selection Process (RSP).

Step 4: The Police Recruitment and Selection Process (RSP) and Physical, Medical, and Dental Examination (PMDE)

The RSP is an event that all recruits need to go through to ensure that they are physically fit to perform their roles as a Police Officer in the Philippines. If you are not sure if you can pass the RSP, you can check your health before the event.

What to Wear and Bring in the PNP RSP?

  • Wear a white T-shirt with black shorts and white rubber shoes
  • Bring at least 1 valid ID
  • Bring a printed copy of your QR Code and COVID Vaccination Card
  • The regional Recruitment and Selection Services Office may request more documentary requirements

Here is the list of health metrics that you will go through in this process:

A. BMI (Height and Weight): Between 18.5-26.5 BMI

B. Ear Nose Throat Exam (ENT)

C. Chest X-Ray PA view

D. Electrocardiogram (ECG)

E. Urinalysis and Drug Test

F. Blood Chemistry Examination

G. Snellen Vision Test

H. Color Perception Test

I. GPE or General Physical Exam

  • Push-ups – 25 for females and 35 for males under 1 minute
  • Sit-ups – 25 for females and 35 for males under 1 minute
  • 3km-run (under 19 minutes for males, and under 21 minutes for females)
  • Blood Pressure Exam
  • Dental Exam

For the physical exam, you must perform the required number of reps or running distance within the prescribed period. The PNP does not allow retakes. You must pass all the physical exam events on the first try.

Depending on the local RSS, the ECG may be done on the spot or through a third-party facility.

The RSS may let you know on the spot if you passed or failed the exam. If you pass, the next step is the oathtaking and the signing of the documents for your PNP appointment. The entry-level rank for the PNP non-commissioned officer (NCO) is the Patrolman/Patrolwoman. If you successfully go through via the LETO application, you automatically become Police Captain. Check here for the difference in the basic salary of these entry-level ranks.

An FAQ Guide To Writing The Letter of Intent For PNP Applications

  • Thread starter Aragorn165
  • Start date Jan 24, 2016

Champion Member

Hi guys, I've seen a lot of questions and confusions on this board regarding this topic- the intent to reside in the province that nominates you, and how you are supposed to demonstrate that in your application. I figured that, since this is the one part of the application process that i do have a full handle on, I might as well make a guide that would serve to help all those who are applying to provinces for a PNP. Please note, I am only referring to the provincial application process for now. That means that this only refers to the letter of intent that you need to submit when you are applying directly to a province; when you apply under Express Entry later, you are required to submit Schedule 4/4a to demonstrate your intent to reside in a province. This post does not cover that. It covers, instead, the process to demonstrate intent to reside when you are applying to get a PNP. DISCLAIMER: This guide is based on my own experiences with OINP- all the information in this guide holds true for the OINP application process. There may be some differences in how the process works for you, based on which province you are applying to. For instance, Alberta's AINP program does not let you apply unless you have valid employment, or an offer of employment, in the province- in that case, a lot of the questions in this guide won't apply to you. Q: WHAT IS A LETTER OF INTENT? A letter of intent is something that most provinces require when you apply directly to them to receive a nomination from them (as well as an additional 600 points). The letter of intent is a document you write to demonstrate your good faith intent to reside in the province that you are applying to for a nomination, provided you get a nomination from them, and then PR status from CIC. Q: WHAT DOES A LETTER OF INTENT HAVE? A letter of intent establishes any ties you may have to the province you are applying to, in an attempt to establish that you do indeed have reason to stay in that province. You must provide a statement of intent that demonstrates your intent to settle in the province you are applying to. Q: WHAT IS A STATEMENT OF INTENT? Above all else, your letter of intent must have a statement of intent to reside in the province. Basically, this statement explicitly outlines that you plan on residing in the province you are applying to. For example, assume you are applying to Ontario under the OINP program. In this case, the letter should start with: I, <insert your name>, do hereby declare my intent to reside in the province of Ontario, should I be nominated for a PNP, and should I receive Permanent Resident Status. Q: WHAT KIND OF TIES SHOULD BE MENTIONED IN THE LETTER OF INTENT? Taken directly from the OINP Application Guide: You may also provide evidence of your ties to the province. Ties to the province can include but are not limited to, the following:  Employment in the province;  Job offers or jobs applied/interviewed for in the province;  Volunteer work in the province;  Lease agreements for a residence in the province or property ownership;  Professional networks and affiliations;  Family ties;  Social connections or personal relationships;  Previous visits to the province. You will need to provide evidence of any of these separately as well, by providing lease agreements, appointment or employment reference letters, or address proof for any family you claim is living in the province you are applying to. However, in the letter itself, don't worry about the proof- the supporting documents will act as that. In the letter, you just mention any and all ties you may have to the province. The idea is to show them that you have reasons to stay on in the province that you are applying to- they need to believe your declaration of intent to reside there, and this kind of stuff helps back you up. Q: DO I HAVE TO WRITE A LETTER OF INTENT EVEN IF I HAVE NO TIES TO THE PROVINCE I AM APPLYING TO? Yes. Q: I HAVE NO TIES TO THE PROVINCE I'M APPLYING TO! AM I DOOMED? It is entirely possible that the province you are applying to is one you have no ties with- especially since some provinces, like Ontario, let you apply without any prior ties or employment. If this is the case, don't panic. You are not in trouble at all! When I applied to Ontario, I had absolutely no ties to Ontario, none to Canada- I had never been to Canada, I had no family or friends there, I had absolutely nothing that could be construed as a reason for me to stay there. However, I still got my PNP from Ontario- the trick is to write a convincing Letter of Intent regardless. If you don't have any ties to the province you are applying to, make sure of two things:  Make sure your statement of intent is as explicit as possible;  Spend the letter explaining why you plan on residing in the province you are applying to For instance, discuss the job market- you can talk about how the province you are applying to is best suited to the kind of employment you are looking for. This has a double benefit, since it a) makes a clear case for why you want to settle in the province you are applying to, in spite of no previous ties, and b) shows them that you are serious about it- you've done your research, you know what you are talking about, you're not just making things up. You can mention other things, too- you can mention, for example, local tax rates, property rates, you can mention the weather- anything which you can explain factors into your decision to move to the specific province you are applying to, and which proves that you have done your research, showing that you are serious about moving to the province. Q: IS THERE ANY FORMAT OR TEMPLATE FOR WRITING THE LETTER? There really isn't- there are many people who will tell you that you should write in a formal format, but you don't have to. All you need to do is cover the basics- if you have any ties to the province, establish them. Make sure to have an explicit statement of intent to reside in the province in the letter, preferably right at the beginning of the letter. The letter should not be too long- about three to five paragraphs, single spaced and font size 12, and never more than one page. The letter should be clear: write clearly, concisely, and without too much embellishment. If you feel comfortable writing it in a formal format, you can do so. If you would rather write it as a short essay (I Would Like To Stay In ____ Because...), you can do that too- just remember to be clear, and remember that you include everything in the letter that is important. Q: DOES THE LETTER OF INTENT HAVE TO BE NOTARIZED? No. Q: IS THE LETTER OF INTENT LEGALLY BINDING? This is one of the questions that comes up the most on this forum- are you legally bound to stay in the province that nominated you, and only that province, if you get Permanent Residency? The answer to this question is no, you are not. Once you are a permanent resident, you are protected by the Constitution of Canada, which gives you the right to mobility- that is, you can travel to, and live, anywhere in the country that you wish to, without restrictions. However, keep the following in mind:  You have a moral obligation to try and live in the province that nominated you, and to try and make it work, for at least 6-12 months. What this means is, once you go to Canada, you should spend some time trying to settle down in the province that nominated you. Try to find a house, try to get a job. If, after a period of 6 or more months, you still have been unsuccessful in your attempts to settle, you have given your good faith effort at attempting to reside in that province (which is what you declared in your letter of intent that you would do), and you can move to another province where your prospects are better;  On that note, you need to demonstrate at least an attempt to reside in the province that nominated you. While once you land in Canada, you have all the rights and privileges of a permanent resident, do remember that they do not apply to you until you have officially 'landed-' i.e. until you have crossed the border checks. If at the border check, the officers determine that you have no intent to go to the province that nominated you (maybe by checking your itinerary, which shows them that your ultimate destination is not the province that nominated you, or that you are only stopping there for a few days before going to some other province), they may refuse you entry. The long and short of it, then? The letter is not legally binding, but it places a moral obligation upon you to try and reside in the province that nominated you. That moral obligation can and may be enforced prior to your entry into Canada. So the best thing to do is to make an honest and concerted effort at settling in the province that nominated you- if it does not work out, then you can move freely to any other part of Canada without any worries. --- That's all, I hope the guide was helpful! If some other frequently asked questions come up, I will be sure to add them to this post, and I will also try answering your questions in this thread! Good luck to everyone applying!

I'm not applying and hope I never have to. But this is a great initiative on your part. I'm sure you've cleared up much angst, confusion and questioning from PNP and soon to be PNP applicants alike. +1 to you for your efforts.

Intention to Reside in the Nominating Province Intention to reside in the nominating province tends to arise when there is only a tenuous connection to the province concerned. Applicants who have resided temporarily in another province, or who have relatives or investments in another province, should be prepared to meet this question head on. Significant connections to a different province could be a serious handicap. Furthermore, there have been cases of provincial nominees being denied landing at the very end of their process. One nominee from Alberta misunderstood the letter he received from the Embassy when his passport was requested for visa issuance. The letter told him not to quit his job until his visa had been issued. Once he received his visa. He immediately quit his job in Alberta, the job for which he had been nominated. (He understood the embassy’s letter to imply this was acceptable.) When he attempted to land in British Columbia, the CBSA officer asked him about his job in Alberta. When he admitted he recently quit the job, his immigrant visa was taken from him without landing. In another instance, a business PNP applicant destined for Manitoba attempted to land in Vancouver. When requested to provide a mailing address for his PR Cards, he gave his residential address in British Columbia where he already owned a home. The applicant thought he only needed to start a business in Manitoba, and claimed he didn’t realize he was supposed to move their with his family. He was denied landing. RamsayBolton said: Very helpful ! but there's one thing I want to mention that: for applicants with no ties with Ontario, inland applicants with significant ties with other provinces could have a serious handicap comparing to outland applicants when applying for OINP. Ex: international students who came to other province (BC, Alberta) to study then graduated and have been working there since then. Click to expand...

BC PNP Employer Recommendation Letter (with Sample)

BC PNP Employer Recommendation Letter (with Sample)

“I’ve got my invitation for BC PNP, all documents are ready except the BC PNP Employer Recommendation Letter”

Skilled workers applying for Canadian permanent residence through one of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Programs must include a BC PNP Employer Recommendation Letter with their application.

In this guide, we will share the sample format of the BC PNP Employer Recommendation Letter that you can freely use for your BC PNP application.

This letter describes key details such as:

  • Why the employer is recommending the applicant for Canadian permanent residence
  • Why their chosen applicant is suitable for the job position
  • How the applicant would contribute to the company’s operations
  • The recruitment efforts were undertaken before hiring the applicant

BC PNP Employer Recommendation Letter Sample

Subject: Recommendation Letter — Employment at “The Dosa Guys” (11th October 2022)

To whom it may concern,

I, Rahul Kumar, owner of the South Indian restaurant “The Dosa Guys” in Surrey, BC, hereby certify I have hired Ramesh Achari as head chef at my company on 15th August 2022. Their position will fall under NOC code 6321. Mr. Achari will be working full-time with a workload of 48 hours per week. As head chef at The Dosa Guys, they will:

  • Plan and direct food preparation and cooking operations
  • Estimate food and labour requirements
  • Supervise chefs and cooks
  • Recruit and hire new staff
  • Demonstrate cooking techniques to staff

I intend to compensate Mr. Achari at a rate of $34 per hour for their service. This is in line with the average wage rate for head chefs in British Columbia.

I chose Mr. Achari for this position after failing to find a suitable Canadian citizen or Canadian permanent resident to fill the position. I created a job posting with the help of Best Headhunters BC, a Surrey-based headhunting agency and advertised the position on three online job boards for four weeks between 1st July 2022 and 1st August 2022.

We received thirty-four applications from Canadian citizens and permanent residents during this period. However, none of these applicants possessed the skills and backgrounds we sought.

The Dosa Guys specialize in authentic South Indian cuisines such as Dosas and Idli Sambar from the South India region. These foods have a rich history and must be prepared using traditional techniques passed down from families in South India.

We hired Ramesh Achari after receiving his application and learning about his background and skills. Mr. Achari was born in the South Indian city of Chennai and has worked as the head chef at his family’s South Indian restaurant, Masala Delight, since 2015. Mr. Achari demonstrated in-depth knowledge of various South Indian food preparation techniques and described many innovative staff onboarding processes he implemented at Masala Delight.

I believe Mr. Achari will be a great asset who will help The Dosa Guys improve and eventually expand its operations across British Columbia. For this reason, I would humbly request your approval of Ramesh Achari’s permanent residence application.

Please contact me at (555) 555-5555 if you require any further information about me, my business, or the head chef position at The Dosa Guys.

Rahul Kumar, Owner of The Dosa Guys
