General Instructions: 1. ICMR-NIRT will consider only the applications with complete information.

2. A requisition letter with a photo of the individual from the Head of the Institution is required.

3. In case of dissertation work, a concept paper is mandatory to be uploaded during the application

4. Selected candidates should strictly adhere to the rules and regulations of the Institute.

5. Selected candidates will work under the direct supervision of the Scientist/ Faculty nominated by the Director, ICMR - NIRT.

6. Selected candidates should pay the fees towards their internship/dissertation as soon as they join in their respective departments.

7. Upon successful completion of the assigned work, the candidates will receive a completion Certificate from the Supervisor and the Director, ICMR – NIRT.

8. In case of dissertation work, submission of a copy of the completed thesis is required.

9. Selected candidates will be encouraged to publish the research work carried out under the guidance of their supervisors at ICMR - NIRT. All institutional supervisory staff members who have made a significant contribution to the research work of the candidate will be entitled for authorship on the papers (as per the latest ICMJE authorship guidelines).

10. All IPR arising from the project work will belong to ICMR - NIRT, Chennai. The concerned candidate will be given due credit in publications arising out of his/ her work at ICMR - NIRT.

11. Selected candidates are bound to respect the confidentiality of information that they collect or are exposed to at ICMR-NIRT. No reports or papers may be published based on information obtained from ICMR-NIRT without the explicit written authorization of the Supervisor and the Director, ICMR-NIRT.

12. Although not considered a staff member of ICMR-NIRT, selected candidates shall follow the rules and regulations of ICMR-NIRT. The candidates will not be entitled to the privileges accorded to the officials and staff members of ICMR-NIRT.

13. Candidates should be fully COVID vaccinated (both doses)

14. Candidates should make their arrangements for accommodation, travel and living expenses. ICMR - NIRT WILL NOT arrange for the same.

15. The ICMR-NIRT Internship/Dissertation Programme does not entail employment.

16. ICMR-NIRT accepts no responsibility for costs or fatality arising from illness or accidents incurred during the internship/dissertation; therefore, candidates must carry adequate responsibilities of their medical conditions.

CSIR-IMTECH Dissertation Program-2024

About Program

CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology (CSIR-IMTECH), invites exceptionally motivated students to undertake research training under dissertation program at CSIR-IMTECH. CSIR-IMTECH is a multidisciplinary institute with excellent research facilities, state of the art computational and library facilities, and faculty with research interests in frontier areas of modern biology and biotechnology (please visit our website http://www.imtech.res.in for information on different areas and faculty activities).

Mandate : The Program is aimed to introduce exceptional students to the basic techniques used in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Protein Sciences, Cell Biology, Immunology, preclinical research, Bioinformatics, Fermentation Technology, Biosensors, Medicinal Chemistry, Computer Science and Engineering through bench work for 6 months.

Who Can Apply

Students Pursuing M.Sc., M. Pharma, M. Tech., B. Pharma, B. Tech., MCA and equivalent from UGC recognized Universities to undertake research training towards partial fulfillment of their degree. The minimal eligibility criterion for consideration of the requests is first division or an equivalent grade (or at least 60% of aggregate scores) in all major examinations starting from the secondary school examination onwards. The selected students will be assigned to a Faculty/scientist who will mentor him/her during the training period. Each student is required to complete a small research project work under the guidance of the scientist. At the end of the program, student will need to submit a ‘Project Report’ of the work done and on successful completion of the program, the students will be awarded a certificate.

Number of seats : 30. The number of trainees’ intake varies and depends upon the availability of bench space with different scientists of IMTECH. Decision of the competent authority would be final regarding number of seats for intake. Five seats are reserved for the children of serving CSIR employees.

How to apply

Candidates can apply using online application form available at IMTECH website.  Along with the application, candidates have to upload a Statement of Purpose (SOP), a letter of recommendation from his/her guide and an authorization letter/bonafide certificate (certifying that the candidate is pursuing degree program) issued by Head of the University / College / Institute.

Declaration of selection:

A screening cum selection committee constituted by the Director, IMTECH will select the students. The decision of the Director, CSIR-IMTECH, regarding selection of the candidates shall be final. The decision of selection will be displayed on website of IMTECH in the month of December 2023.  Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence, political or otherwise will be treated as a disqualification.

Duration: 6 Months (No provision of extension in duration of Dissertation Program).

The training can be undertaken for a maximum of six months between January to December 2024. Actual dates of training will be decided based on mutual consent between the selected candidate and the faculty through Coordinator, Dissertation Program, CSIR-IMTECH.

In cases where the applicant joins the program and wants to discontinue without completion of the program (minimum residency period of 4 months), no certificate will be provided.

In case of non-receipt of fees, seats will be offered to waiting list applicants after December 07, 2023.

Fee Details

After completion of selection process, successful candidates will be informed to make payment online to the Director, IMTECH account (Account No. 30267007362).

Fee: Rs. 25,000 + 18 % GST (GST would be as per GOI norms issued from time to time). Fee once paid is non-refundable.

Boarding and Lodging

CSIR-IMTECH will not provide any financial support for the training/ boarding/ lodging. The students will have to make their own arrangement for stay during the program. However, CSIR-IMTECH may consider specific requests from outstation students only, for shared accommodation depending upon the availability of the same (Rs. 5000/-; plus, electricity and mess charges as per actual, will be applicable as per CSIR-IMTECH rules).

Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad (CSIR-CCMB) invites applications from candidates pursuing M.Sc / M.Pharm/ M.Tech/ B.Pharm/ B.Tech in any branch of Life sciences to undertake research training towards partial fulfillment of their degree. In addition to laboratory training, candidates will be exposed to scientific ethics, good laboratory practice, and career opportunities in life sciences. At the end of the training, candidates must present their work to the scientific community at CCMB.

Candidates can apply using the online application form. Along with the application, candidates have to upload an authorization letter issued by the Head of the University / College / Institute. Candidates having a specific interest may contact respective CCMB scientists to seek their consent before applying. After submitting the online application in the prescribed format, candidates will get a confirmation email. After the screening and selection process, successful candidates will be informed by email to make payment through NEFT to the CCMB account (Account Details are given below).

RCB inducts post-graduate students of science from various universities/institutions/colleges of repute in research training programmes, to carry out their project work towards partial fulfilment of their post-graduate degrees. Selected candidates undergo training under the supervision of members of RCB faculty, learning to conduct their own research project in collaboration with other group members. Trainees get a realistic experience of several facets of conducting modern biological research and embarking on a research career. The training programme is typically of six-months duration, starting in January and July every year. An advertisement is placed in the RCB website when such traineeships are available.

RCB inducts post-graduate science students from various universities/institutions/colleges of repute for research and training to carry out dissertation/project work towards partial fulfilment of their post-graduate degrees. Selected candidates undergo training under the supervision of members of RCB faculty wherein they learn to conduct their own research project in collaboration with other group members. Trainees get a realistic experience of several facets of conducting modern biological research and embarking on a research career.

The training programme is typically of six-months duration starting in January and July every year. Applications for the two sessions are usually received in Oct/Nov and Mar/Apr through an on-line link on the RCB website. The number of student trainees selected in each session varies based on the available vacancies. RCB does not provide any accommodation to the trainees due to infrastructure constraints. The students are expected to make their own accommodation arrangements for the entire period of the training.

RCB also provides short-term training opportunities (2-3 months) to students sponsored by KVPY, INSPIRE, Summer Research Fellowship programme sponsored by Science Academies (INSA, IAS, NASI) etc. Direct applications are NOT considered for the Short-term training program.

Internship Program: Guidelines for summer internship at CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar, in Offline mode (for those present or manage to stay at Bhubaneswar) only.

Internship program:.

• Students’ internship period will be opened only during summer session (May-July). Minimum duration of internship will be of 8 weeks for summer session.
• Student has to send the duly filled up application form to “Barsha Dash, Coordinator, Training & Dissertation programme, CSIR-IMMT, P.O.: RRL Campus, Acharya Vihar, Bhubaneswar-751013”. CSIR-IMMT is providing dissertation training twice annually for the partial fulfillment of the degrees from January to June and July to December

The envelope must be superscribed with “Application for Dissertation” & “Name of Discipline/Branch”. No soft copy will be accepted.

• The last date of receipt of application is Dt.25.11.2023 Application will NOT be considered after the due date.
• Selected students should pay the prescribed fee at the time of joining. The fee should be paid through "State Bank Collect" (Purpose of Payment: Application Fee; Related Department: Others; Reference: CSIR-IMMT HRD Webpage; Remarks: Dissertation Fee) or in the form of demand draft drawn in favour of "Director, IMMT" payable at Bhubaneswar.
• The number of students selected for the internship/ dissertation program is based only on the requirement of Scientists/Technical Officers of the institute.
• At the end of the program, each student has to submit a report to the HRD and make a presentation. Certificate will be issued by HRD accordingly.
• The institute will not provide  financial support and provision for accommodation is based on need/urgency and distance of the applicant from Bhubaneswar.

• Student's admission to the summer internship program and their access to the laboratory are restricted to duration of program and will not be extended.
• Student's admission to the dissertation program and their access to the laboratory is restricted to duration of the dissertation work (3-6 months or 6-12 months) and will not be extended. Additional time, if required, has to be foreseen in advance and necessary request has to be made to HRD through the research supervisor for the extension of the dissertation period well in advance with necessary payment of requisite fee (if any).
• During their tenure, the students have to follow strictly all the rules and regulations, timing of the laboratory. Strict compliance of safety rules by the students inside the laboratory is a must. The laboratory will not take any responsibility for the safety of the students beyond office hour. Students have to undertake to adopt laboratory safety standards at the time of joining.
• CSIR-IMMT will have full intellectual property right on the work carried out by the student. However, if a paper is published out of the work, the student(s) name will be considered for the authorship depending upon his/her contribution.
• University/colleges/institutes must take responsibilities for any misconduct by the student(s). The tenure of the student at CSIR-IMMT will be subject to his/her satisfactory conduct and performance. CSIR-IMMT will have the right to discontinue/ terminate the internship/dissertation of the student at any stage without assigning any reason thereof.
• The work report to be submitted in CSIR-IMMT must be prepared as per the format available in the website.
• The schedule of programme and HRD policy may subject to last minute change.
• The student should submit a joining report to HRD at the time of joining.
