5. Before I go all emotional, I just want to say thank you to all of you who made it here to our wedding. Kenny and I are overwhelmed with love and support in the best way possible.

Growing up, I’ve always had an idea of what my wedding will look like and to whom I will be married. My parents, even after 30 years of marriage, are still deeply in love, and this is just one of the reasons why I look up to them and their relationship. Since my teenage years, I’ve known that this is the kind of love I want.

When I first met Kenny in high school, I was this shy and introverted girl. I knew I had a crush on him right then, and my best friends — shout-out to Maria, Gemma, and Coraline, now my bridesmaids — would always encourage me to ask him out. We were all surprised when Kenny approached us during lunch to ask me out first; I still remember screaming to my besties about it for days on the phone.

Meeting my in-laws for the first time was honestly a bit intimidating. Of course I was intimidated — it was my first relationship! I wanted to impress them. Over time, as I got to know them more and more, I came to admire them because, like my parents, they love each other so deeply it shines through in everything they do.

Standing here in front of all of you today, I promise to cultivate and nurture that same kind of love. The kind of love that lasts and endures a lifetime.

Thank you to Anna and Stu, my parents, and Bella and Neil, my in-laws, for all the love and support over the years. Huge thanks to my bridesmaids for always being there for me, especially during the times I stressed over which shade of white would be best for my dress. General Outline of Wedding Thank You Speeches

Before proceeding to make a draft of your speech, it will be helpful to have an outline to follow. This outline will give you an idea of what to include in your speech. Here are the parts of a wedding thank you speech:

• Introduction . The simplest and best way to start your speech is to thank your guests for attending your wedding. You do not need to introduce yourself, as everyone there already knows you.
• Express what you are feeling . Does it feel surreal? What are you grateful for? Has this day been perfect? Is this your dream wedding? Let your guests know what you are feeling, and what everything means to you.
• Mention certain people . This part of your thank you speech is an opportunity to give a shout-out to everyone who has helped you in one way or another. Some examples include bridesmaids who helped with planning everything, relatives who financed parts of the event, friends who provided support, and anyone that you think deserves credit. You can also include vendors, such as photographers and caterers. If you think this part will be too long, be more inclusive — instead of dropping names, lump them in categories, such as friends, relatives, and members of the wedding party.
• Encourage your guests to enjoy the rest of the night . Tell them about the delicious dinner they are about to have, the open bar, or the photo booth. Get them excited to party and celebrate your union.

How Long Should the Speech Be?

This is really up to you and what's best for your wedding timeline , but some couples choose to make their wedding thank-you speech once the best man, maid of honor and others have made their speeches, while other couples opt to toast right before the cake cutting. I am not really good with public speaking so I would like to begin this speech with a story. When I was little, I would always plan the perfect wedding. I would then grab my blanket and wrap it around my body pretending to be a dress. Put little clips on my hair and tie it with a bow. Oh! Although I have stopped to pretend to kiss my stuffed toys, I still dream of the sweetest and most romantic kiss of my life. I have watched tons of romantic comedies to try to tweak my perfect wedding plan. I just want everything to be perfect and to my liking, because I believe that this should be the best moment of my life. I believe I had everything all planned out except for the man I will share this perfect moment with. Oh how I have prayed and wished so hard to all of the gods, saints, and whatever people believe in to help me find my perfect man. Each day I wake up and whisper to the heavens, “please help me find him today.” I just could not wait any longer to celebrate this joyous event.

Days, months, seasons, and years passed. I am now standing here in front of that man I prayed and wished so hard for. This man turned my world. I believed everything I watched in romcom movies was what would happen to me. But boy was I so wrong. I thought that the hardest part of a wedding was choosing your gown. Spoiler alert: it was writing the vows. I have not prepared for this. In all those silly weddings I had when I was little, the vows were not there. I mean, how could I even put into words everything this man had done for me? Much more to fit into a short speech. So I have been stressing a lot with the vows and I guess I have delivered successfully. I sure hope I did.

My childhood dream of sorts would not be possible without the help of a team of people. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude first to my dear wedding guests who have willingly shared their time with us today to celebrate another milestone in life, thank you. I know you all have busy schedules and whatever things you have planned. This time that you shared with us means so much to me and is more than any gift we could ask for. We hope you still continue to support and pray for us as we embark on this other journey as husband and wife. I also hope you have enjoyed the food we just served.

Second, to our amazing wedding team. The servers, caterers, wedding planners and coordinators, florists, singers, designers, and photographers. How to Write a Great Wedding Thank You Speech

Writing your thank you speech can be intimidating. It’s something you’ll often think about at the very beginning and then totally forget about as you get swept into picking flowers, colours cakes and of course the dress.

It can also be a really hard thing to put together as emotions get high (you are planning one of the biggest days of your life after all) so we put this post together to help you get started and to break it down in bite-size pieces: 

Make sure you write something out in advance so you at least have an idea of what you plan to say. Plus, it never hurts to read it out loud a few times, especially in front of someone to help get any stage fright butterflies out of the way.

Make a list and check it twice

Remember to thank those who have helped you along the way and made your special day possible. If you think you might forget anyone, write yourself a small note to keep on hand.

Your Rock Star Wedding Party

Thank your wedding party for all their time, effort and hard work to help bring your special day together. Even if they didn’t end up doing as much as you thought, or they were simply just there on the day for support (maybe they live in another city and couldn’t be there with you for the planning)  be sure to thank them. 

Your family

Be sure to take the time to thank your parents and the parents of your new spouse. This is also a great time to make any promises or declarations on how you plan to take care of them for and with their parents. If they’ve welcomed you to the family with open arms or have done anything that has really warmed your heart say so. This is a beautiful time to share these sorts of things.

This is also a great time in your speech to thank any out of town guests or family that have travelled from afar.

Take your time

Speak slowly and take your time, also make sure those in the back can hear you. Practice a few times in front of a mirror and time yourself. You’ll be surprised at how fast you might be when you look at the end time. 

But also make sure your speech does not carry on and on. Keep it to the point and stick to your notes. It is your wedding but your guests will thank you if you don’t go on for 20 minutes. 

Keep it light and fun, feel free to add in a joke to help keep your guests attention.

It is often best to keep the language ‘family-friendly’ and keep the stories equally appropriate. Some things are best kept as an inside joke.

A little thanks goes a long way

Thank your vendors that helped make your day extra special. No need to go into much detail, unless you want to, but vendors always feel touched when they’ve been thanked by name (their company or personal one).

And always, always, thank your guests for attending your special day! Make sure they know their love, support, gifts and attendance does not go unappreciated.

When we achieve, we usually do so because others have helped. Your speech of appreciation is the gift or acknowledgment you give in return for what was given you.

When is a thank you speech appropriate?

Any time is good to say thank you! However, a more formal speech of thanks could fit any of these occasions.

• for coming to my graduation, farewell, birthday, or retirement party
• for the promotion
• for the award
• for coming to our wedding and your gifts, our engagement party, our 50th wedding anniversary
• for coming to the opening of my new business...

Be prepared! Best practice guidelines

Generally the decision to leap to your feet and give a thank you speech is not spontaneous. You will likely have some forewarning and time to consider exactly what you want to say and who you want to mention.

Deciding on the content

Cover these three content areas and you'll be fine.

• WHO are you thanking? Note their names in ranking order- the most important first.
• WHAT are you thanking them for? Be specific rather than general. Naming what you are grateful for gives your thanks more meaning.
• WHAT did their gift of time, expertise, encouragement, money... mean to you? Again, be specific. This is your chance to publicly give credit where it's due, to compliment, to praise. Take it.

Writing your speech

When you've sorted out who you wish to mention and what for, you are ready to begin writing.

Like any other form of speech you need 3 parts:- an opening, the body or middle where you put all your acknowledgments, and a conclusion.

1. Introduction/opening

In your introduction or opening give the reason for the occasion and why it is you're going to thank everyone. What you say, and how you say it, will set the tone for the remainder of the speech.

Depending on the number of people on your 'thank you/appreciation' list and the amount of time you have, consider including a small story about the lead-up making this event possible. A well-chosen personal anecdote will always go down well because it lets those listening share your experience more deeply.

In the body of your speech, start at the top of your list of people to thank and work your way through it. Take care to give the most important people the most time.

For those whom you want to mention but don't have enough time to make individual acknowledgments consider grouping them according to function.

Example: "To Alex, Mary, Judy and Sam, thank you for making me remember to laugh. You helped me keep my sanity and perspective when the going was tough."

3. Conclusion

In the conclusion, summarize your main points and finish.

Sample thank you speech for receiving an award 

Here's a short sample thank you speech for you to see how it could be done. There are many ways covering the required content. This is one.

The person giving this speech is thanking an organization for giving him an award. 

It is 374 words long. When spoken it will take approximately 2 minutes + to deliver. That's about the right length. It's brief and covers everything needed.

As you read it through imagine hearing it out loud. 

Speech text

"Who's considered the incredible power of thank you?  Those two words express gratitude, humility, understanding, as well as acknowledgement.

I am here with you: my family, many of my friends and colleagues because I need to say all of that, and then some more.

Thank you for coming to share my being given the Fred Smith Award for Community Service. It's very humbling.

There's a phrase I'm sure you know: it takes a village to raise a child. In this case it's not a child that's been raised but awareness and a long needed community resource -  the  Parksville Community Literacy Center.  The village behind it and me, is you.

In particular thank you to my wife Marlene who has always understood and shared my conviction that communities are healthiest when its resources are equally shared, and that the ability to read underpins long term social and economic well being.

I know the hours I spent after work helping to establish our new Center tested her, especially when I was home late, again.

Remarkably she continues to support, and love me.  For that I will always be grateful.

Tips to help you get your thank you speech right

Rehearsal, practice and feedback.

Many people make the assumption that once they've got the words of their speech sorted, they're set to go.

That's not true! Practice completes the process.

Giving yourself several  rehearsals, firstly by yourself and then in front of  friends or family, will help enormously. Click the link for detailed information about  how to rehearse effectively .

1. Content check

Before investing too much time and energy into rehearsing your speech say it through in front of a few trusted friends or colleagues.  It is much, much easier to change text prior to practicing it than after you've begun working with it. Ask them to listen:

• to make sure you've included everyone you should, in the right order and thanked them for the right things.
• for tone. Does the vocabulary fit the occasion? Are the stories right? Is the speech positive? Is it inclusive?

Edit as needed, and then have your test audience listen again. 

Getting the timing right is an essential part of making it a success. Go on too long and people stop listening. Be too brief and there's a danger you've missed things out.

The only way to find out how long your speech is, is to time yourself as you say it out loud at a normal speaking rate. If it's too long, look for areas you can cut. Maybe you need to group a few  more people together or perhaps you need to shorten some of the specific examples about why it is you're thanking someone.  If it's too short, add more detail.  Repeat until you get the length right.

3. Use cue cards

If you're at all worried about forgetting things, losing your place or muddling what you want to say, use cue cards. They'll take the anxiety away.

Write the main points of your thank you speech on cue cards. Good notes will keep you on track while ensuring you cover everything you want to like, for instance, the name of every person you want to thank and why.

The wedding thank you speech provides the couple with an opportunity to thank all of their guests and those who contributed to their special day.

A public thanks can either come from the groom or the bride, but the etiquette remains the same. The following tips and sample wedding speech provide you with a few things to consider.

• A lot of speeches are likely to have taken place at your wedding. Thus, thanks speeches should be kept short during a wedding — including yours. Generally speaking, a speech that lasts more than three minutes is too long.
• It is a good idea to write down every single name you want to mention when it comes to those who helped you plan your wedding. It is also possible that you will forget someone and their feelings will be hurt if you do so inadvertently. A way to avoid this is to thank everyone who helped without naming names.
• It is easy to get your guests’ attention by opening your speech with a bit of humor.
• The bride or groom may speak on behalf of the couple.  Nonetheless, both of you should keep your speeches brief if you each want to make a separate one.
• It is entirely up to you when you give your wedding thank you speech.  Some people like to deliver their speeches between the middle and the end of dinner. The majority of attendees will be seated, so those who might leave early will still be there.
• Read your speech out loud several times. While this isn’t necessary to memorize the speech, it will allow you to look at your guests instead of staring at the paper.

Before you pull out your fanciest pens and glossy stationery ( ahem , The Knot Invitations has hundreds of beautiful designs), brush up on how to write a wedding thank-you card. A note of gratitude for a wedding gift is similar to any other thank-you message you'd write. But, if you need a few pointers before getting started, we've got you covered. Handwrite your notes

Wedding gift thank-you notes should always be handwritten for one simple reason: it shows you took the time to personally write a thoughtful message. Typing or emailing your thank-you notes can seem impersonal and, in some cases, recipients may even find it rude. Since handwriting thank-you messages for every single wedding guest will take a significant amount of time, there's no need to write a novel for each person. In fact, there are no specific rules about the length of your wedding thank-yous. However long it takes you to express your gratitude is sufficient—a short and simple message can go a long way.

Prepare everything in advance

Working on wedding thank-you notes can actually be fun, especially if you buy good tools that get you excited to write. First, choose a thank-you card design that represents you as a couple. Then, treat yourself to a high-quality pen. Believe it or not, a good rollerball or fountain pen will do wonders for penmanship. Stick with blue or black ink and make sure it won't smear or bleed through your note cards. Finally, don't forget to stock up on plenty of stamps so they're ready to mail right away. In addition to stationery supplies, have your wedding gift tracking system on hand for easy reference.

Use discretion when acknowledging cash gifts

You might wonder what the proper wedding thank-you card wording is for a cash gift. In the past, it was deemed inappropriate to mention the amount of money you received in a thank-you card for a cash gift, but that isn't the case today. Some etiquette experts say that writing the number confirms that you received the correct amount in full. Use your judgment to determine what feels right based on your relationship with the guest when it comes to writing your thank-you message.

One thing you should definitely include in a wedding thank-you card for a cash gift, though, is exactly how the money will be used. Guests want to know that their gift will be appreciated, so explain if the cash donation will go to a home renovation project, a puppy fund or memorable date-night experiences. If you've specifically registered for honeymoon funds, share what kind of activities you will (or did) put the money toward.

Work in batches

When it comes to sending thank-yous, earlier is always better. For gifts received before the wedding, it's recommended to send thank-you notes within two weeks. Then, for items received after the big day, aim to send thank-yous within three months. Since writing wedding thank-you messages can be time-consuming, don't try to get them all done in one sitting. Instead, set aside 30 minutes or so every night to tackle your wedding thank-you card list.

The best way to finish this task efficiently is to divide and conquer. Some couples separate the list down the middle, while others prefer to write thank-you cards to their extended family who may not know their S.O. as well. (No matter how you divvy up the responsibility, though, it is important to sign both of your names at the end of the card.) Do whatever works best for you and your partner, but send thank-yous as you receive gifts to cut down on your postwedding to-do list.

Address them properly

Not sure how to address wedding thank-you notes? The interior of the card can be informal. If you're sending the card to an entire family or a couple, address each member who attended your wedding (and signed the card or gift tag) by name. It's perfectly fine to address guests by their first names. Ultimately, you should do what feels right based on your relationship with them.

On the exterior of the wedding thank-you card envelope, address guests the same way you addressed your wedding invitations . It's best to also handwrite the addresses, though you can use preprinted return address labels on the back flap to save some time as you seal up each card.

Wedding thank-you note wording can be as short or as long as you'd like, but regardless of whether you could write a full essay about how much you adore your new KitchenAid mixer or not, there are a few things you definitely should include in your message. Of course, you can always add extra flourishes on thank-you notes for your parents, wedding party members and other close-to-you guests. And don't forget to imbue a little bit of your personality as a couple into your words. All that considered, here's a template of how you can compose your thank-you notes to cover all of the bases:

• "Dear" followed by the recipient's name or names—if your note is going to multiple people
• "Thank you for" followed by the specific item they gifted you
• How you intend to use the item or how you've used it so far
• A sentence about how much you loved celebrating alongside them at your wedding (or how you excited you are to celebrate with them, if you're sending this note before the big day)
• A "thank you again" phrase to cap things off
• A thoughtful sign off followed by both you and your partner's names

Most guests will use your registry to buy a wedding gift, so you'll likely have an easy time explaining how excited you are to receive something off your wish list. Here's what to write in a wedding thank-you message for a gift selected directly from your registry.

Dear [guest names],

Thank you so much for the crystal wine glasses. We now have a complete set—and you know how we love our wine! We're looking forward to your next visit, when we can enjoy a drink together. Thank you again for thinking of us!

If you received a gift from a guest who's an acquaintance or a friend of a close family member, here's the perfect wedding gift thank-you card wording.

There are a few reasons why a guest may have been unable to attend your wedding, from illness to unavoidable family or work commitments. Even though they weren't there to watch you say "I do," some guests will still send their well-wishes, if not a thoughtful wedding gift. If you received a gift, you should send a wedding thank-you message regardless of whether or not they made it on the day.

While giving a wedding gift is encouraged, it's not a requirement. Similarly, it's not mandatory to send a thank-you card to a guest who didn't give a gift. Though, sending a thank-you note is still a nice gesture for anyone who traveled a long distance to attend the wedding or offered their support in other ways. Note that your thank-you note shouldn't be used as a reminder to send a gift—it's only to thank guests for their time and support.

Writing thank-you notes after your wedding may seem like a daunting task, but we promise it's not as difficult as it seems. Plus, we assure you that the faster you get them done and sent, the happier you’ll be!

First, let's break down the structure of a well-written note . "A thank-you note should really just have three simple elements," says wedding etiquette expert Elaine Swann , founder of The Swann School of Protocol. "You should say thank you, name the gift, and say something about the gift. That’s it!"

Writing Tips

Before you get started, here are our tips to ensure that the writing process goes smoothly.

Get Organized

As soon as you send out your invitations , create a spreadsheet of the guest list with their addresses. (Yes, that early!) This makes it easier to track where to send your thank-yous when the gifts start rolling in. Your file should also include what you received and when, the date you posted the card, and another column for helpful notes. Remember: Spreadsheets are your friends!

Start Right Away

"Start writing those notes as soon as you receive the gifts," Swann says. This will help you avoid an overwhelming avalanche of work later on. Plus, the sooner you write the notes, the sooner you can mail them!

Have a System

We know that opening gifts , especially in bulk, can be such an exhilarating experience that the instinct is to tear through them. But we recommend being methodical and taking note of each gift as you open it to avoid losing or mixing senders' info. You'll thank us later!

Work in Batches

After the wedding, expect to have a ton of gifts and a lot of thanking to do. The best way to tackle this seemingly never-ending task ? Write the notes in batches. Schedule an hour or two each day to work on a number of cards to avoid feeling overwhelmed.

Share the Workload

Divvy up this task with your partner as much as possible to keep from overburdening one party. Split up recipients based on who knows the guest better. Pro tip: Reward yourselves post-task with a romantic night in to make the activity feel less like a chore!

Keep Your Stationery on Theme

"A good idea is to find thank-you cards that follow suit with the theme of the wedding," advises Swann. If you have the budget, order customized stationery along with your invites, complete with the same monogram or logo. If not, don't fret. "Just find something that matches the theme , color, or style of your wedding," she adds.

Make it Specific

Include specifics about the item in your thank-you notes, such as what you like about it or how you intend to enjoy it. For example, do you look forward to making brunch with your new waffle iron? Write that down. This kind of specificity makes the notes feel a lot more personal and sincere. The same goes for monetary gifts . Let the gift-giver know what you plan to purchase or how you'll make use of their generosity.

Take a photo of each gift after opening to make it easier to reference the gift's details when it's time to write your notes. This is especially helpful for gifts stored after opening or buried under a mountain of other presents.

Writing Etiquette

Not all thank-you notes are created equal! To ensure that your notes express your gratitude, here are some proper writing etiquette practices to follow.

Handwrite the Notes

Make sure your notes are handwritten and, according to Swann, not printed out and then signed. Even if your invitations were sent digitally , avoid sending digital thank-you notes as much as possible.

Include All Names in the Gift

Double-check who's signed on the gift card . If the card is signed by a couple, make sure to write down both of their names in your note, even if you're only acquainted with one of them.

Promptly Send Out Cards

Swann advises couples to mail their thank-you cards as early as a week after the wedding. If you've written out cards in batches, send them out in batches too! No need to wait until each and every gift is accounted for. If you receive a gift before the wedding, go ahead and send a prompt thank-you. "The thank-you note is for the gift itself," Swann explains. "Although it was intended for the wedding, you’re saying thank you for the gift." So send those notes out right away.

Some photographers include free thank-you notes as part of their wedding package. If this is the case for you, it's understandable to have a bit of a wait. Just clarify the timelines with your photographer so you know when to expect the customized thank-you notes. Your guests will understand and will love the special touch!

Specify the Amount for Monetary Gifts

"When thanking people for the gift of money , it’s important for you to put the exact amount that they gave you," says Swann, debunking myths that you shouldn't specify the amount you received. The reason for this is twofold, she says. "You're letting them know you received the money, and you're verifying how much you received." This is especially helpful if the money was transferred digitally or sent via post to give senders peace of mind.

Components to Include

Wedding thank-you notes are pretty simple, in terms of what is included in the note. As Swann mentions above, there are three core components:

• Say "thank you" : Perhaps the most important (and obvious) element of the card, you should put your "thank you" front and center so the guests know exactly what this card is for.
• Name the gift : Make sure that you mention what the gift was, to ensure they know you received their gift.
• Say something about the gift : This could include why you love it so much, a description of where in the house you're planning to put it, or how you're going to use it—and why it means so much to you as a couple!

If you’ve got a case of writer’s block about what to write in a wedding thank-you card, here are a few sample notes for common gifting scenarios to get those creative juices flowing.

For People Who Bought a Gift From Your Registry

Pro tip: It’s something you wanted, so mention how much you love it and that you plan to use it all the time.

Dear [Guest's Name], Thank you so much for the espresso machine! [Partner's Name] and I have become serious coffee fiends , and we are excited to be able to make our own drinks at home. We’d love to have you over for brunch soon so you can see it in action! Thank you again for being a part of our wedding day. Best, [Your Name(s)]

For People Who Gave a Monetary Gift

Pro tip: As with physical gifts, let them know how you’ll use the cash!

Dear [Guest's Name], Thank you so much for celebrating our wedding day with us! [Partner's Name] and I were thrilled with your generous and thoughtful gift of $100. Thanks to you, we were able to book the cooking class we’d had our eye on for our honeymoon . Looking forward to seeing you over the holidays! Love, [Your Name(s)]

For People Who You Don't Know Well

Pro tip: Mention the person you know in common.

Dear [Guest's Name], Thank you for the gorgeous crystal bowl. It will look absolutely beautiful on our coffee table. For People Who Gave You an Unfamiliar Item

Pro tip: Focus on the giver, rather than the mystery gift. If possible, include a fond memory with them during the wedding.

For People Who Shared in a Group Gift

Pro tip: Send individual notes to each person, but give a shout-out to the whole group.

For group gifts, send an individual card to each person who contributed to the gift. However, if you're not sure who contributed to the gift, Swann says it's acceptable to only thank the person who personally handed or sent the item to you.

For People Who Got You a Gift You Don't Love (or Will Exchange)

Pro tip: No need to rave about the gift if you don't like it, but do find something positive to say!

For Your Attendees

Pro tip: Thank each and every attendee, even if they didn't bring a gift. Include an anecdote from the wedding to make it more personal.

Anyone that gives a wedding gift—whether it's a physical present, a monetary gift, or a charitable donation on your behalf—should receive a thank-you note. Some newlyweds choose to send thank-you cards to wedding guests for their attendance or significant role in the celebration (not just gifts) as well.

Yes! Guests who didn't attend the wedding but still sent gifts should be sent a thank-you card for their generosity.

How to write an amazing wedding speech in 6 steps.

Writing your wedding speech can be a daunting task. We have some wedding speech examples and tips to help you bring the house down!

Y our wedding is the perfect opportunity to tell your loved ones just how much you love and appreciate them, especially as they’ve gathered to celebrate your newest milestone and shower you with their blessings. While your heart may be full of emotion and gratitude on your wedding day, it can be difficult to convey them eloquently on the fly, especially if you’re a little drunk and a lot nervous! Take some time to write your wedding speech beforehand, and practise delivering it too.

You can choose to give your wedding speech together as a couple, or thank the people in your lives individually; just be sure to figure out beforehand who’s saying what and who’s going first, so you don’t end up being repetitive.

In your wedding speech, you’ll want to thank and appreciate the most important people in your life, such as your parents, siblings, bridal party, and close friends, and also thank them for their help with the wedding. You should also thank your guests for taking the time to celebrate with you. You can share a sweet anecdote or two about your journey as a couple, and finally, end with a thank you and a toast to your new spouse.

It can be daunting to write a wedding speech—not to mention delivering it! We break it down into manageable parts for you and offer some examples of how you might thank the people in your life.

1. Start your wedding speech with a welcome for your guests

“Good evening. Thank you for joining Jasmine and I on our very special day. Tonight, we’re very happy and honoured to have you all with us. Seeing you all here together means the world to us both.”

2. Thank your parents and your in-laws

“To Mum and Dad, thank you for your love and unconditional support my whole life. Thank you for making sure we never lacked anything growing up, including wise advice on our studies, careers, and relationships. You’ve taught me so much, and given me the freedom to grow into my own person. You’re the best parents anyone could ever have, and I love you both deeply. Your marriage is an inspiration, and you’ve shown me how marriage is about understanding, patience, love, and forgiveness. I hope that what David and I build will be just as special as your marriage.”

“To my new Ma and Pa, thank you for welcoming me into your family with such open arms. Thank you for all of the wonderful dinners you’ve invited me to, and for your patience when teaching David and me some of your delicious recipes. We also truly appreciate all of your help with the wedding. The tea ceremony you organised was so beautiful. And thank you for raising such a fine son. David’s respect for family, his hard work, his strong character—they are a credit to you. I am blessed to have him as my new husband.”

3. Shout out to your siblings

“To my big brother and partner in crime, thank you for always taking the heat when we get into trouble with Mum and Dad, for cracking me up with a lame joke even when I beg you not to tell it, and for helping me with all my un-IT-savvy questions. And of course, thank you for introducing me to David. I might still be on the shelf if it weren’t for you.”

“To my little sister, my built-in best friend, and my maid of honour, I love you. Thank you for being my support system and my listening ear. Thank you for all the frank fashion advice, and for always being my plus one to workshops and craft sessions when I ask. Thank you for all of your help planning this wedding and for staying up so many nights working on DIY projects with me; I couldn’t have done this without you!”

4. Thank your bridesmaids and groomsmen, and everyone who helped you out

“To my groomsmen, thank you for standing by my side today and braving unnameable food and undignified challenges with me this morning. I also thank you in advance for all of the alcohol you’re going to drink in my stead later.”

“To my bridesmaids, you are my oldest and dearest friends, and I’m so honoured to have you in my bridal party. Thank you for your love and support over the years, and for all of your help during the wedding. Thank you for being here for me once again on this special day. I love you all.”

“To all of our wonderful friends who helped us emcee, usher, coordinate, and decorate, thank you so much!”

5. Finally, share a little about your journey and thank your new spouse.

“Last but definitely not least, I’d like to thank my new wife. Jasmine, the day I met you, I knew my life was going to change forever, and today, you’ve made me the happiest man on earth. You are the smartest, most beautiful, and most caring woman I know. I’m so lucky you agreed to be my wife, even though you’ve seen me do the moonwalk. I can’t wait to go on new adventures with you, and I know that together, we can brave anything.”

6. End with a thank you for all of your guests

“Thank you, everyone, for joining us as we celebrate our new chapter. We hope you enjoy the rest of your evening!”

Wedding speech tips

Take note of these few extra pointers when preparing your wedding speech, and you’ll be ready to slay your audience!

1.Write it down

Unless you’re a Toastmaster with a lot of confidence and experience at public speaking, don’t try to wing your wedding speech! Start writing your wedding speech at least a few weeks before your celebration to give yourself time to polish it.

2.Avoid inside jokes

Try to keep inside jokes to a minimum as a consideration to your other wedding guests who aren’t privy to your punchline.

3.Keep it short and sweet

Time yourself giving your wedding speech and aim to keep it under five minutes, especially if there will be a number of other people giving speeches.

4.Don’t overshare

Grandma going to be at your wedding? You might want to leave out your pregnancy scare story. If your boss and colleagues will be there, you might want to edit thanking your bridesmaids for listening to your work rants.

5.Coordinate

If you’re each giving separate wedding speeches, remember to sit down and share your speech content so you don’t have too much overlap, or have very different tones with someone being very formal while the other cracks a lot of jokes. Plan your time too, and try to have both speeches roughly equal in length.

6.Practice makes perfect

Finally, practise, practise, practise! Once you’ve edited and polished your wedding speech, it’s time to stand in front of a mirror and practise delivering it. Get comfortable with the flow of phrases, and get familiar with which section comes next. With lots of practice, you’ll feel less nervous once you’re on stage.

7.Respond to other wedding speeches

While totally winging your wedding speech isn’t recommended, a little improvisation is great and adds a candid touch to your speech. For example, if your speech is after your best man, feel free to defend yourself in the story he just maligned you with. Or, you can thank your dad or your bridesmaids for their sweet words.

While the etiquette is clear on the necessity of thank-you cards, what goes inside can be a bit trickier. Sure, you can always buy one at any card store, with the sentiment still being very sweet, but a personalized message really goes the extra mile to show someone you cherish their effort, time and ultimately, their sweet gesture.

What is the best thank-you message?

While the best message to write in any kind of card is always a personalized one, we all need a little inspiration sometimes. Start with some of these sentiments and then add an element that makes it your own.

Maybe that's a memory you share from the party where you received a gift, an inside joke from a vacation you went on together or how you plan to use a monetary gift. Whatever it is, don't forget to seal it with love. And while it's best to send thank-you cards as soon as you can after a birthday, wedding , special event or meaningful favor, there's no expiration date on gratitude. Noah Cyrus doesn’t tolerate Internet gossip. The 24-year-old pop singer came across an Instagram commenter who referred to the rumored drama between Noah and her mom, Tish Cyrus , involving Tish’s new husband, Dominic Purcell . Before the weekend kicked off, the “All Falls Down” artist shared a carousel post featuring her fiancé, Pinkus , that was captioned, “Dear lord, when I get I heaven please let me bring my man [sic].”

“Like that guy u and ur mom both have sexy time with [sic]?” the social media troll wrote, to which Noah responded by writing, “hey real grandma, I’m so sorry but will you pleeeeeass just choke on the fattest c**k. Just for a lil bit. Great thanks [sic].”

Although Noah did not directly refer to Tish, 56, or Dominic, 54, this was the first time that any Cyrus relative has publicly responded to the reported drama between the mother and daughter.

In March, multiple outlets reported that Noah and Dominic had a relationship before he and Tish started dating. The spouses tied the knot in August 2023. At the time, fans noticed that Noah did not attend their wedding, even though Noah’s famous sister Miley Cyrus was there. A source told Entertainment Tonight , “Noah and Tish haven’t been close since Tish started dating Dominic. Tish didn’t invite Noah to her wedding because she thought it would cause a scene and drama.”

Us Weekly also reported that Noah was “very distraught over Tish stealing Dominic from her.”

At the Grammy Awards earlier this year, audiences noticed that Miley did not shout out Noah in her “thank you” speech after taking home the award for Record of the Year. Previously, the two seemingly had a close sibling bond, as Noah even took the stage with Miley a few times in the past.

At the end of March, Tish opened up about her and Dominic’s low-key romance on her other daughter Brandi Cyrus’ “Sorry We’re Stoned” podcast. In addition to Miley, Brandi and Noah, Tish shares children Braison and Trace Cyrus with ex-husband Billy Ray Cyrus .

“I was so scared when I first met Dom, my husband, which was not that long ago,” Tish confessed. “But it is crazy because I am a Taurus, and he is an Aquarius, and every single thing I read said, ‘Don’t even do it. It is the absolute worst pairing.”

She went on to point out that their personalities can clash because she “was an only child, I was adopted, so I was coddled a lot. … But that’s just not who he is. He is not emotional, and that could be a problem.”
