Hiring managers will be very specific with their job descriptions. They need to fill a certain development void, and so they require a developer who has the appropriate skillset.

This means the job description has everything you need to understand what to include on your resume. You can make your resume stand out by customizing your experience and technical skills to match the job description.

A generic resume will land you at the bottom of the stack. Your resume should be incredibly focused. Show you’re familiar with the same technologies used by the company and their development team to increase your chances of landing an interview.

Show Your Work in Action

Your previous experience and projects prove you are a competent iOS developer. Your resume will be passed to senior developers who will likely partake in the interview process. So, don’t hesitate to include technical details in your resume.

Show you’re a well-rounded developer by including an array of responsibilities and achievements in each role. Bring up things like increasing application development efficiencies, identifying bottlenecks in the development process, or reducing the amount of code needed for a project.

You should also use as much concrete data as possible when talking about your work experience. This will quantify the success of your work and further demonstrate you’re the best person for the job.

iOS Developer Resume Sections

iOS developer resumes include five core sections. Your resume template should consist of contact information, resume summary, work experience, technical skills, and education. Let’s take a look at what you should include in each section.

Contact Information

This section should take the least amount of time to complete. You simply need to provide your basic personal information so hiring managers can contact you when they want to set up an interview.

As an iOS developer, you can include a link to your GitHub account in this section. Your GitHub account will be used by senior developers who want to see your coding abilities. Your resume will attract hiring managers, and your GitHub account can close the deal.

  • City and state
  • Phone number
  • GitHub account
  • Max Kramer | iOS Developer | Los Angeles, California
  • [email protected] | 888-431-2368 | github.com/Mkramer

Resume Summary

A resume summary is an all-in-one place where a hiring manager can understand who you are as a developer and your greatest achievements. It’s the first thing hiring managers will read, so it must be impactful, engaging, and immediately show what sets you apart from other candidates.

You should include how many years of experience you have, your areas of expertise, and some notable development accomplishments. It’s also a good practice to attach some tangible evidence of success to your accomplishments.

For example, don’t just say you helped develop apps for your previous company. Explain how successful these apps were in terms of downloads or revenue and what technologies you used. If you had a leadership role, highlight it.

  • Software Engineer with more than six years of experience developing award-winning iOS applications. Contributed to the development of five user-focused applications that have more than 1 million downloads. Dedicated to simplifying code, streamlining development processes, and delivering top-notch user experiences.

Work Experience

Your resume summary encourages hiring managers to read more. Next, the work experience section will provide further detail on your previous projects. This is your opportunity to impress recruiters and close the deal.

This section will include each position you held and a handful of bullet points explaining your responsibilities and achievements. Each bullet point should be customized for the job you’re applying to. Irrelevant experience will be brushed aside and encourage the hiring manager to move to the next resume.

What to include:

  • Dates employed
  • Three to four bullet points highlighting your contributions

iOS App Company | Senior iOS Developer | April 2018 – May 2020

  • Using Swift and Objective-C from wireframe to implementation, developed three iPhone applications that garnered mentions in the App Store
  • Optimized application features to be compatible with Mac, iPad, and Apple Watch
  • Saved company $80,000 by transitioning to an alternative search engine SDK

Technical Skills

The technical skills section will be a list of the technical skills you have the most experience with. This should be a mix of programming languages, UX skills, development frameworks, and APIs. Also, include a mix of front-end and back-end experience.

This section helps to optimize your resume for applicant tracking systems (ATS). Scan the job description to find the programming languages and technical skills they seek. Then, include each listed technical skill you are familiar with. You’re more likely to land an interview if your technical skills match the stack the development team uses.

  • UIKit Framework
  • Cocoa Touch
  • Git version control
  • Objective-C
  • Swift Package Manager
  • Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • RESTful APIs

Your real-world experience and technical capabilities will be of more concern to hiring managers than your education. However, this doesn’t mean you should discount this section of your resume.

Your education will show you built a solid foundation in development well before you entered the workforce. Don’t list too much — you can simply include the basics in this section.

  • Name of institution
  • Degree obtained
  • Dates attended
  • The University of Michigan | Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science | 2010 – 2014

Resume Formatting

You’ve written the content of an impressive resume. Now it’s time to pull everything together.

Using the appropriate formatting will make your resume look polished and professional. This way, your resume will catch the eye of hiring managers and encourage them to read more.

Here are some formatting areas to consider:

  • Resume style: A reverse-chronological resume walks through your professional experience starting with your most recent role. We recommend using this format since it best highlights your real-world experience.
  • Margins: Your margins need to be large enough you can print the resume but small enough your resume doesn’t take up too many pages.
  • Font: Stick with a modern and professional-looking font, and avoid fonts that are difficult to read.
  • Font size: Readability is key. Make sure your font size is large enough to read on a printed and digital version of your resume.
  • Spacing: Your line spacing should be set so your content doesn’t seem too crowded and is easy to read.
  • White space: An adequate amount of white space between your resume sections helps hiring managers easily scan your resume
  • Color: You can incorporate color on your resume, but keep it simple. Don’t use too many colors, as doing so will distract the reader from what’s really important.
  • Resume length: Your resume can be either one or two pages. Feel free to extend your resume to two pages if you have extensive experience and you’re applying for a high-level role.

Formatting your resume should be the last step of the design process. Focus on producing effective content first and then polish your resume after.

Once you finish this step, it’s time to send your resume to your most sought after companies.

Stand Out From the Rest

Your resume is your first opportunity to leave a lasting impression with hiring managers. Put in the work to perfect it beforehand, then reap the dividends when you start applying for jobs.

Look through some of our iOS developer resume examples to see what your resume should look like. Then, follow the tips above to stand out from every other iOS developer candidate.

They send the same generic resume to every potential employer without tweaking or modifying it. This is where they go wrong because their ios developer skills resume never makes it to the human recruiter in the first place!

If you're wondering what this means, here's a quick answer.

Most organizations have started using the Applicant Tracking System (or the ATS as it is commonly called) to screen resumes. When the ATS recruitment software parses your resume, it reaches the recruiter.

This software is designed to look for matching content between your ios developer resume and the job description. The more it matches the JD, the more are your chances of getting your resume parsed & reaching the human recruiter.

Once the human recruiter shortlist your resume, you get an interview call. In other words, you will not get shortlisted for the iOS developer job if your resume is not customized according to the JD of your target job.

Long story short, you need to customize your iOS developer cv.

  • Divide the resume into distinct sections.
  • Create the resume into reverse chronological format.
  • Highlight your experience and accomplishment in resume with bolding.

Present Your Career Highlights in the Professional Experience Section

When it comes to perfecting the professional experience section of your junior or senior iOS developer resume, there's one thing that you should do at all costs:

Outline your career highlights and relevant work-specific achievements in this section. Doing this will help you stand out. It will also help you show that you're not 'all talks and no play'.

Before we explain this point in detail, here's a list of the top 3 things that you should incorporate in the professional experience section of your junior and senior iOS developer resume to perfect it:

Use one-liner points

Quantify your achievements, use grouping & highlighting.

Ask this to any resume tactician, they'll all give you the same response:

To perfect your resume, it needs to be readable.

Since the professional experience section takes up 60% of your resume space, it needs to be neatly compiled & well presented.

To do this, you should communicate the details of your roles & responsibilities using crisp one-liner points. Do not use bulky paragraphs to tell the tale of the job-specific functions that come with your job.

We spoke about the importance of endorsing your career highlights and work-relevant career achievements in this section.

However, this isn't enough.

Just saying that you achieved 'x' without getting into the details can lead you to a dead end. So, here's an important resume tip regarding this section of your junior and senior iOS developer resume:

Don't just highlight your career achievements. Quantify it too!

Now that you know how to improve the readability of your iOS developer CV, you've done enough right?

Good readability makes it easy for a recruiter to read your resume. It does not guarantee that they'll read it.

Recruiters and hiring managers are humans at the end of the day. A study by Ladders shows that recruiters spend an average of 6 seconds on a resume. This means that you have just 6 seconds to catch the recruiter's attention.

Grouping & Highlighting help you achieve this.

But what is it and how can it help you catch the recruiter's attention? Here's how:

Grouping is the practice of grouping similar points together in a bucket under a unique heading. Having this header tells the recruiter what your core or main expertise area is.

Highlighting is the practice of marking relevant words & phrases in bold. When you mark important texts such as your achievements, for example, you're ensuring that your achievements don't go unnoticed.

These simple tricks help you hack this section and perfect it.

3. Next, create an ios developer skills section on your resume

Your resume's skills section should include the most important keywords from the job description, as long as you actually have those skills. If you haven't started your job search yet, you can look over resumes to get an idea of what skills are the most important.

Here are some tips to keep in mind when writing your resume's skills section:

  • Include 6-12 skills, in bullet point form
  • List mostly hard skills ; soft skills are hard to test
  • Emphasize the skills that are most important for the job

Hard skills are generally more important to hiring managers because they relate to on-the-job knowledge and specific experience with a certain technology or process.

Soft skills are also valuable, as they're highly transferable and make you a great person to work alongside, but they're impossible to prove on a resume.

Example of skills to include on an ios developer resume

An android is an operating system designed for mobiles. It is a modified version of Linux Kernel and all other types of software that are designed for touchscreens. Like every other OS, android's job is to connect the device and the user. Android offers us numerous choices while buying a phone, it is Google and user-friendly as well.

Java is a widely-known programming language that was invented in 1995 and is owned by Oracle. It is a server-side language that was created to let app developers "write once, run anywhere". It is easy and simple to learn and use and is powerful, fast, and secure. This object-oriented programming language lets the code be reused that automatically lowers the development cost. Java is specially used for android apps, web and application servers, games, database connections, etc. This programming language is closely related to C++ making it easier for the users to switch between the two.

SDK is a software development kit that is used by software developers to create and develop software and applications for different online platforms. SDK includes; documentation, libraries, and coding samples in order to guide application developers in creating software by integrating these codes and documentations.

Code review is a methodical examination of computer source code designed to find and correct errors that go unnoticed in the early stages of development. This generally improves the value of the software and the skills of the developer. Code reviews are important because they improve code quality and make your codebase more stable. They also help programmers build relationships and work together more effectively. Typically, a code review process is performed before merging it with the codebase.

Scrum is a lean structure for communicating, designing, and promoting complex products, with a focus on programming development. It has been applied to a variety of areas, including manufacturing, testing, new technology, and marketing techniques. Scrum is a simple framework that helps people, organizations, and teams generate value by providing many solutions to complicated problems.

Model-View-Controller (MVC) refers to the method of software development for creating user interfaces.

4. List your ios developer experience

The most important part of any resume for an ios developer is the experience section. Recruiters and hiring managers expect to see your experience listed in reverse chronological order, meaning that you should begin with your most recent experience and then work backwards.

Don't just list your job duties below each job entry. Instead, make sure most of your bullet points discuss impressive achievements from your past positions. Whenever you can, use numbers to contextualize your accomplishments for the hiring manager reading your resume.

It's okay if you can't include exact percentages or dollar figures. There's a big difference even between saying "Managed a team of ios developers" and "Managed a team of 6 ios developers over a 9-month project. "

Most importantly, make sure that the experience you include is relevant to the job you're applying for. Use the job description to ensure that each bullet point on your resume is appropriate and helpful.

13 Software Developer Resume Examples - Here's What Works In 2024

Software developers are the magicians behind the applications we use daily on our mobiles or computers. they design, develop, and maintain programs by using programming languages. most software developers are problem-solvers, logical thinkers, and lifelong learners, as this industry is always evolving. according to the bureau of labor statistics, software developers are highly in-demand. their job outlook is expected to increase by up to 25 percent, which is significantly high compared to other occupations. yet, a good resume can elevate even more those expectations. this guide will help you create the best software developer resume..

Hiring Manager for Software Developer Roles

Software development is the process of creating computer applications, including mobile apps, desktop programs, video games, IoT software, etc. Developers build the skeleton of the software by using backend techniques and design the visual aspect through front-end development.

Computers are programmable, meaning that you can give them instructions to perform certain tasks. However, they don’t speak the same language we do. We must learn how to interact with them in their own vocabulary. This is what programming languages are for.

There are numerous of them and each one has a different purpose and syntax. Programming languages like Python, Ruby, or Java are focused on the backend process, allowing us to interact with servers and databases. HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, on the other hand, are used for the client side of the development process.

There are two types of roles in the development community that often overlap and interact with each other: programmers, and software engineers/developers. Although both terms are often used interchangeably, programmers have a more specific role. They are responsible for tasks like writing code, displaying graphics, and merging databases.

Software developers have a wider spectrum of responsibilities. Developers design software by considering the perspective of end-users or business needs. Yet, they are also programmers themselves. Hence we’ve mentioned that these roles generally overlap. However, programmers are limited to writing functional code and app maintenance.

Today, we’ll show you how to create your own software developer resume. Take a look below to see some resume templates for each software developer role.

Including your location helps employers understand where you're based. However, for privacy reasons, only include your city and state, not your full address.

  • 123 Main St, Apt 2B, Austin, TX 78701

Keep it concise:

  • Houston, Texas
  • Seattle, WA

If you're searching for remote roles, you can clarify that by saying "Location: Raleigh, NC (Remote)" or simply "Remote".

  Summary

As a software developer, your resume summary is an opportunity to provide a brief overview of your skills, experience, and career goals. While a summary is optional, it can be particularly useful if you are changing careers or have a diverse range of experiences that may not be immediately apparent from the rest of your resume. However, avoid using an objective statement, as it is outdated and does not provide value to the hiring manager.

When crafting your summary, focus on highlighting your most relevant qualifications and achievements, tailoring them to the specific software developer position you are applying for. Use metrics and specific examples to demonstrate your impact and value.

Avoid using a generic summary that could apply to any software developer position, as it may not capture the hiring manager's attention or demonstrate your fit for the specific role.

  Experience

The work experience section is the most important part of your software developer resume. It's where you show hiring managers what you've accomplished in your career and how you've made an impact. Use this section to highlight your technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and the results you've achieved.

Here are some key tips to keep in mind as you write your work experience section:

1. Highlight your technical skills

As a software developer, your technical skills are your biggest selling point. Make sure to showcase the programming languages, frameworks, and tools you've used in each role. For example:

  • Developed and maintained web applications using React, Node.js, and MongoDB
  • Built RESTful APIs using Spring Boot and MySQL
  • Implemented CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and AWS

Don't just list your skills, though. Provide concrete examples of how you used them to solve problems and deliver results.

Use our Targeted Resume tool to make sure you're including the right technical skills for the job you want. It analyzes the job description and your resume to identify gaps in your skills.

2. Quantify your impact

Whenever possible, use metrics to quantify the impact of your work. This helps hiring managers understand the scale and significance of your contributions. For example:

  • Reduced page load time by 40% by optimizing database queries and implementing caching
  • Increased user engagement by 25% by redesigning the UI and improving site navigation
  • Managed a team of 5 developers to deliver a $500K project on time and under budget

If you don't have access to specific metrics, you can still use numbers to provide context, like the size of the team you worked on or the number of users impacted.

Focus on your most recent and relevant experience. If you have older or less relevant roles, you can still include them but cut back on the details. Highlight key accomplishments and skills without going into too much depth.

3. Show your career progression

Hiring managers want to see that you've grown and taken on more responsibility over time. If you've been promoted or taken on leadership roles, make sure to highlight that in your work experience section. For example:

Senior Software Engineer, XYZ Company, 2019-Present - Led a team of 3 junior developers to build a new mobile app from scratch - Mentored and trained new hires on best practices for code quality and testing Software Engineer, XYZ Company, 2016-2019 - Collaborated with cross-functional teams to design and implement new features for the company's flagship product - Contributed to open source projects and spoke at local tech meetups

If you don't have a traditional career path, you can still show progression by highlighting increasing levels of responsibility or the impact of your work over time.

Use strong action verbs to describe your contributions, like "developed", "optimized", "architected", and "led". These help paint a picture of what you actually did in each role.

  Education

Your education section shows recruiters that you have the necessary educational background and knowledge for the software developer role. It also gives them an idea of your career trajectory and additional skills you may have gained through your education.

In this section, we'll cover what to include in your education section and tips for making it stand out to potential employers.

1. List your degrees in reverse chronological order

Start with your most recent or highest degree first, and work backwards from there. For each degree, include:

  • Name of the institution

Billion dollar developer lawsuit will proceed, after apple’s objection was rejected.

Avatar for Ben Lovejoy

A UK court has ruled that a near billion dollar developer lawsuit against Apple will be allowed to proceed, after the iPhone maker attempted to get it dismissed.

The £785M ($979M) antitrust lawsuit was filed on behalf of more than 1,500 British developers, and alleges that Apple’s monopolistic control of the market for iPhone apps allowed the company to charge ‘abusive’ levels of commission on app sales …

It’s the usual accusation

The basis of the case is of course a familiar one. It’s the reason Apple has been required to allow third-party app stores in the European Union, and one of the (many!) reasons the Cupertino company is facing a DOJ antitrust case in the US .

Namely, edge cases aside, there has been no way for a developer to sell an iPhone app to a consumer without doing so through the official App Store. Apple is therefore free to impose whatever terms it likes, and charge whatever commissions it pleases, and developers have to simply take it it leave it.

That is now changing in EU countries – though not in a way that is likely to pass muster by regulators – but remains the case in the UK, US, and the rest of the world.

The near billion dollar developer lawsuit

The lawsuit was filed last summer .

The UK lawsuit at the Competition Appeal Tribunal is being brought by Sean Ennis, a professor at the Centre for Competition Policy at the University of East Anglia and a former economist at the OECD, on behalf of 1,566 app developers. “Apple’s charges to app developers are excessive, and only possible due to its monopoly on the distribution of apps onto iPhones and iPads,” Ennis said in a statement. “The charges are unfair in their own right, and constitute abusive pricing.”

Apple failed to get it dismissed

Apple filed a motion calling on the judge to dismiss the case, arguing that a UK court should only be able to rule on commissions charged from UK sales, not from global ones.

Reuters reports that the judge rejected this argument, and ruled that the case will be heard.

[Apple] lawyer Daniel Piccinin argued at a hearing in January that developers cannot have a claim in the UK unless they were charged on purchases made through the UK App Store. But the company’s bid to throw out that part of the case was rejected on Friday. Judge Andrew Lenon said in a written ruling that Ennis’ lawyers had a realistic prospect of establishing that “Apple’s overcharging of commission to app developers based in the UK in relation to commerce transacted on non-UK storefronts did amount to conduct implemented in the UK”.

Apple’s new ios 18 ai plans—what to know about data privacy.

Apple’s iOS 18 is due to launch in a couple of months, along with new iPhone features powered by AI. Now, a new leak has revealed details about two more AI-enabled features coming when iOS 18 arrives this fall, Safari Browsing Assistant and Encrypted Visual Search.

A new leak has revealed details about two more AI enabled features coming when iOS 18 arrives on ... [+] iPhones this fall,

The rumored new iOS 18 features—shared on X, formerly Twitter by coder Nicolás Álvarez —were first reported by Apple-focused website 9to5Mac .

So, what are the new iOS 18 features and how will they and the other capabilities coming in Apple’s next major software update impact iPhone data privacy?

The Two New iOS 18 features

While it’s not totally clear what either of these iOS 18 features do, it appears the Safari Browsing Assistant will bring AI capabilities to Apple’s own browser. This sort of thing is already offered by Apple’s competitors—Microsoft Edge offers Copilot AI capabilities, for example.

Apple Issues New Spyware Attack Warning To iPhone Users

Nyt strands hints spangram and answers for friday april 12th, juiced o j simpson once had a hidden camera prank show and made stabbing jokes on it.

At the same time, 9to5Mac speculates that Encrypted Visual Search could be a more secure version of Apple’s visual search features already offered across Photos and the Spotlight app.

Initially, Álvarez said Safari Browsing Assistant and Encrypted Visual Search will both use the iPhone maker’s Private Relay infrastructure to prevent Apple from learning IP addresses. However, he later updated his Tweet to say it's actually “just an oblivious HTTP gateway.”

“It prevents Apple from knowing if multiple requests come from the same IP, but it's not necessarily related to the Private Relay feature (or its need for an iCloud+ subscription,” he wrote.

What Apple’s iOS 18 Plans Mean

Apple’s iOS 18 is set to be the iPhone maker’s “biggest update yet,” according to Bloomberg Apple commenter Mark Gurman. Apple is already creating a buzz about its enhanced iPhone features powered by AI, and Bloomberg recently reported that the firm may even team up with Google as part of its aims to be the best in this field.

The iOS 18 rumor mill has been in full swing for months now, with other iPhone features including design changes and a more customizable home screen. Meanwhile, Apple Maps is adding support for customizable routes and messaging standard RCS will be added to iPhones.

One of the most pressing concerns about AI is how the new iOS features will impact privacy and security. By its very nature, AI needs tons of data to learn from and function, so it will be down to Apple to ensure privacy and security as well as to give users controls over their information.

AI is often used as a buzzword—companies are worried if they don’t include reference to the technology in marketing materials, people will think their new devices are “already past it,” says Jake Moore, global cybersecurity advisor at ESET.

However, he warns, these new tools “are actually in fact cleverly designed on board to harvest more user data—including sensitive information about their customers.”

This information will be heavily analyzed and can end up being “very lucrative” to firms such as Apple when used to fine tune future AI products, Moore warns.

Apple’s iOS 18 will officially launch at the iPhone maker’s Worldwide Developers Conference on June 10 and the software itself will be released this Fall.

At least one of the new iOS 18 AI features—Encrypted Visual Search—seems to have security at its core and this is very typical of Apple. I expect to see a bunch of AI features on your iPhone when iOS 18 launches this year, but I do think Apple will carefully consider security and privacy. After all, it has a reputation to protect.
