Bond Ravi Film Review: ಅಭಿನಯ ಸೂಪರು ಕತೆ ಏರುಪೇರು

ಆರಂಭದಿಂದ ಕೊನೆಯವರೆಗೂ ಪ್ರಮೋದ್‌ ಈ ಪಾತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆ್ಯಂಗ್ರಿ ಯಂಗ್‌ ಮ್ಯಾನ್‌ ಆಗಲೂ ಸೈ, ಸಾದ ಸೀದ ಪಕ್ಕದ್ಮನೆ ಹುಡುಗನಂಥಾ ಪಾತ್ರಕ್ಕೂ ಸೈ ಅನಿಸುವಂಥಾ ನಟನೆ ಇವರದು. 

ಯಾರೋ ಯಾರನ್ನೋ ಕೊಲೆ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಮತ್ಯಾರೋ ಜೈಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗ್ತಾರೆ. ಹೀಗೆ ಜೈಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗೋದನ್ನೇ ಉದ್ಯೋಗ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡವನ ಬದುಕಿನ ತಂಗಾಳಿ, ಬಿರುಗಾಳಿಗಳ ಕಥೆ ‘ಬಾಂಡ್‌ ರವಿ’. ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಜನ ಜೈಲುವಾಸ ಅಂದ್ರೆ ಬೆಚ್ಚಿಬಿದ್ದರೆ, ತನ್ನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಬಾಂಡ್‌ ರವಿ ಎಂದು ಬರೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ನಾಯಕನಿಗೆ ಜೈಲುವಾಸ ಅಂದರೆ ಫುಲ್‌ ಎನ್‌ಜಾಯ್‌ಮೆಂಟ್‌. ದುಡ್ಡಿನ ವ್ಯಾಮೋಹಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾರೋ ಮಾಡಿದ ಕೊಲೆಯನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಈತನಿಗೆ ಕಾಲ್‌ ಸೆಂಟರ್‌ನ ಹುಡುಗಿಯೊಬ್ಬಳ ಪರಿಚಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. 

ಫೋನ್‌ ಕಾಲ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕ ಹುಡುಗಿ ಹೃದಯ ತಟ್ಟುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಹೊಸ ಬದುಕಿನ ಆಸೆ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸುತ್ತಾಳೆ. ಆ ಹೊಸ ಬದುಕು ಹೇಗಿರುತ್ತೆ ಎಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ತಲುಪುತ್ತೆ ಅನ್ನೋದು ಈ ಸಿನಿಮಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂಟರೆಸ್ಟಿಂಗ್‌ ಅನಿಸೋ ಸಂಗತಿ. ಆರಂಭದಿಂದ ಕೊನೆಯವರೆಗೂ ಪ್ರಮೋದ್‌ ಈ ಪಾತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆ್ಯಂಗ್ರಿ ಯಂಗ್‌ ಮ್ಯಾನ್‌ ಆಗಲೂ ಸೈ, ಸಾದ ಸೀದ ಪಕ್ಕದ್ಮನೆ ಹುಡುಗನಂಥಾ ಪಾತ್ರಕ್ಕೂ ಸೈ ಅನಿಸುವಂಥಾ ನಟನೆ ಇವರದು. ಸ್ಟೋರಿಲೈನ್‌ ಎಷ್ಟೇ ಅಪರೂಪದ್ದಾಗಿ, ಇಂಟರೆಸ್ಟಿಂಗ್‌ ಅನಿಸಿದ್ದರೂ ಅದನ್ನು ಪ್ರೆಸೆಂಟ್‌ ಮಾಡುವ ರೀತಿ ಇಂಟರೆಸ್ಟಿಂಗ್‌ ಅನಿಸದಿದ್ದರೆ ಎಲ್ಲ ನೀರಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡಿದ ಹೋಮದಂತಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ಈ ಚಿತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಟೋರಿ ಲೈನ್‌ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿದೆ, ಆದರೆ ಕಥೆಯನ್ನು ಹೇಳುವ ಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ಪ್ರಜ್ವಲ್‌ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟತೆ ಇದ್ದಂತಿಲ್ಲ. ಬಾಂಡ್‌ ರವಿಯ ಬಿಲ್ಡಪ್‌ಗೆ ಅವರು ಕೊಟ್ಟಡೆಡಿಕೇಶನ್‌ ಅನ್ನು ಕಥೆ ನಿರೂಪಣೆಗೆ, ಉಳಿದ ಪಾತ್ರಗಳ ಪೋಷಣೆಗೂ ಕೊಡಬಹುದಿತ್ತು. ರವಿ ಕಾಳೆ ಮಾಡಿರುವ ಪಾತ್ರವಾಗಲೀ, ಮುಖ್ಯ ವಿಲನ್‌ ಶೋಭರಾಜ್‌ ಪಾತ್ರಕ್ಕಾಗಲೀ ಗಟ್ಟಿ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ನಾಯಕನ ಪಾತ್ರಕ್ಕೂ ಹಿಸ್ಟರಿ ಇಲ್ಲ. ವರ್ತಮಾನವೂ ಕನ್ವಿನ್ಸಿಂಗ್‌ ಆಗಿಲ್ಲ. ಮನೋಮೂರ್ತಿ ಹಾಡುಗಳು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ ಸಿನಿಮಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವುಗಳ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತತೆ ಕನ್ವಿನ್ಸಿಂಗ್‌ ಅನಿಸಲ್ಲ.

ಮೊದಲರ್ಧ ತೆಳುವಾಗಿದೆ. ಕಥೆ ಟೇಕಾಫ್‌ ಆಗೋದೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಸಿನಿಮಾದ ಮುಕ್ಕಾಲು ಭಾಗ ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡ ಹಾಗೇ ಸಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಸಪ್ರೈರ್‍ಸಿಂಗ್‌ ಎಲಿಮೆಂಟ್‌ ಕಡಿಮೆ. ಕ್ಲೈಮ್ಯಾಕ್ಸ್‌ ಕೊಂಚ ಬೇರೆಯಾಗಿ ನಿಲ್ಲುತ್ತದೆ. ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಕನನ್ನು ಕುರ್ಚಿ ತುದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂರಿಸುವ ಸಿನಿಮಾವಂತೂ ಇದಲ್ಲ. ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ಮನಸ್ಸು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರೆ ಈ ಸಿನಿಮಾವನ್ನು ಆ ಲೆವೆಲ್‌ಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಬಹುದಿತ್ತು.

'Bond Ravi' movie review: A strict one-time watch

Bond Ravi is the result of debut director Prajwal’s need to blend romance with typical commercial elements. Although he does show promise in his filmmaking, there are avenues that definitely need work. The premise of having his protagonist be a fearless person with uncontrolled desire is fascinating, but the channeling of this narrative needed better reasoning, which is lacking.

So, Bond Ravi is about a jailbird Ravi (Pramod) who is popular among the inmates and is constantly on the lookout for opportunities to make money. When romance enters his life, destiny changes. Can a personality like Ravi, who has no emotions, and always prioritises money, surrender to love? Will his romance meet the desired fate or will his past come back to haunt him? The narrative answers these questions in a brisk manner and will satisfy hardcore fans of masala films.

Prajwal has taken special care in sketching Pramod’s titular character, which has all the commercial elements, and creates curiosity with its own twists and turns. Pramod, who has proved his talent right with his first film Geetha Bangle Stores, gets the spotlight and delivers on the mass appeal.

On the whole, he delivers an exceptional performance. Kajal Kunder gets to play a strong role and makes use of the screentime she gets. The rest of the characters including Ravi Kale, Ravi Prakash, Shobhraj, Dharma, Govinda Gowda, and Vijay Chendoor, make their presence felt. Mano Murthy’s score is refreshing and there are some good melodies that elevate the film.

Chandrashekar has neatly captured a prisoner’s life and his picturisation beautifully blends with the love story too. Bond Ravi is definitely a unique love story, and the ingenuity of it definitely warrants a one-time watch.

In the glimpse of the Bond Ravi trailer, we see actor Pramod playing the titular character, who is an ardent fan of Puneeth Rajkumar. “That apart, the film is a content-oriented commercial script, underlined with a strong love story,” says first-time director Prajwal SP ahead of the film’s release on December 9.

Having assisted directors like S Mahendar, Prashanth Raj and Kaantha Kannali,  Prajwal has centred his debut film around the life of a jailbird, who finds prison life as a means to earn money.

“When a prisoner’s life is considered to be a dead end, here we have someone who likes the comfort of prison. However, his perspective changes, when he falls in love, and this emotion is brought out as a beautiful romantic drama,” says Prajwal as he explains the core theme of Bond Ravi .

Prajwal shares that this film is based on a real-life incident, which he learnt through his friends. “I was surprised to learn that there are people, who earn a living being a prisoner. I thought it was an interesting topic to explore,” says Prajwal, adding, “The film has all the commercial elements, and music by Mano Murthy will be one of the highlights.”

Backed by Narashimha Murthy, Bond Ravi has KS Chandrashekar handling the cinematography. With Kajal Kunder playing the lead, the film has Ravi Kale, Dharma,  Ravi Prakash, Govinda Gowda, and Vijay Chendoor in pivotal roles.
