We all are a living being and for our survival, we need something which will provide every nutrition to our body and keep us healthy and fit. Only food can give us a healthy survival. Good morning respected teachers and fellow students . Today I’m here to give a speech on food .

Food is a very important thing for human survival. We should eat 3 meals a day. Our meal should consist of a proper combination of carbohydrates, fat, protein, calcium, vitamins, iron and other healthy components. If we skip any of the components then we might face some major problem or body will start functioning wrong.

We should eat green leafy vegetables, fruits, drink milk and eat dairy products. If we will start depending heavily upon junk food then our parts of the body will also start malfunctioning or get damaged easily. We will fall sick often or other major problems can affect our lives. We should always eat homemade healthy food since it is cooked with hygiene and best and healthy products are used to prepare it. Junk food is either made up of unhygienic material or kept for many days.

Every living being needs food to survive . For example, plants prepare their own food by photosynthesis. Human-beings and animals likewise need food to survive.

Due to the development, many industries have been set up and agricultural activities have got affected. The crops are grown using artificial techniques. The cultivation process is highly affected. So we should not waste food. We should have it as much as it is required because many people are not even getting 3 meals in a day.

You Are What You Eat. How to Prepare for Public Speaking.

Public speaking continues to be one of the most common fears . If you too are nervous about the prospect, then you’ll want to do whatever you can to be as relaxed as possible before your next big speech. While practice is key, here’s something you may not have given as much thought to: so too is a good diet. It’s true – the food you consume the night before and the morning of your presentation can make a major difference in how nervous, sluggish, motivated, or excited you will be when the big moment approaches.

To help you out, we have composed this guide of the best and worst foods to consume before your next speech so you can be on top of your game and make a great impression.

Calming Your Nerves

One of the biggest reasons you may be afraid to give a big speech is that you know how nervous you get in front of crowds. Before even turning to food, it is important to remember that even though you think you are very shaky up there behind the podium, the chances are good that the audience can’t tell. Also, practicing your speech in front of a mirror can also give you confidence because you can see your movements in real-time and revise as necessary

But let’s take a look at your diet and how to avoid food products that can make you feel more nervous than you already are:

Drinking too much coffee can have a major impact on your nerves.

Drinking too much coffee can have a major impact on your nerves. It is wise to drink very little coffee the night before and no coffee at all on the morning of your presentation. The reason is that the active ingredient in coffee is caffeine, which blocks the chemicals in your brain that make you feel tired, and because of this, your nervous system is triggered and you become flooded with adrenaline. This stimulative process can make you shaky and drastically increase your heart rate.

You should also avoid the urge to drink alcohol to “take the edge off” your nerves. Rather than calming your nerves, alcoholic beverages can negatively affect your breathing, speaking, and worst of all, your memory, which you will need to recite your speech. Instead, try foods like almonds, which improve the functioning of your nerve endings, or salmon , which is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids that help to reduce stress.

Energy And Comfort

Once you get in touch with your body and calm your nerves a little, you will want to get comfortable while still retaining the right amount of energy so you can really drive your points home during your speech. Certain foods can make you feel sluggish and can impact your motivation to speak. For instance, avoid any fast food on the day of your speech as many of those meals include trans fats, which can make you feel sluggish and unmotivated . Consider opting for a vegetarian meal delivered to maintain vitality without compromising focus.

Energy And Comfort

Other foods that can make you feel sluggish include potato chips, artificially sweetened snacks, and chocolate, which, like coffee, will initially give you energy but will inevitably lead to a crash. Instead, go for foods that will give you the proper amount of good energy , like eggs, yogurt, and decaffeinated green tea. If you still feel tired, consider engaging in some light exercise like riding an exercise bike to give you the natural energy that will leave you feeling great.

Making the right preparations to be comfortable for your speech is especially important if you are having to deal with a medical condition like GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease). Symptoms of GERD can include chest pains, heartburn, and nausea, and you don’t want to experience any of those during your speech. To reduce the effects of GERD and similar conditions, make changes to your lifestyle before and leading up to the presentation, including eating smaller meals and refraining from smoking or consuming alcohol.

Food Can Affect Your Voice

Finally, the food you eat can also affect the strength and clarity of your voice, which is essential if you want to make a positive impression during your big talk. An unhealthy diet leading up to your speech can negatively affect your voice, with coffee and citrus being major culprits, as they can both dry out your throat. Also, be cautious with granola bars, as they can irritate your throat, and soda, which can aggravate your vocal cords.

The way your voice sounds can also be affected by the amount of phlegm you have in your throat. While mucus is essential for swallowing, too much phlegm will irritate your vocal cords and create the need to constantly clear your throat. Several foods are known for being responsible for excess phlegm, especially dairy products, which contain molecules that stimulate phlegm production. Alcohol is, once again, a bad idea because it triggers the blood vessels in your nose which can increase blood flow and lead to congestion.

Food Can Affect Your Voice

If you are having a problem with phlegm, then try food that reduces these effects. Start with apples because they contain a substance called pectin that promotes the movement of saliva. You should also drink water before your speech because it will keep you hydrated and also help to improve your concentration and comfort. Bring a bottle of water up on stage with you and don’t be frightened to take a sip whenever you need it. Your audience will wait.

As you can see, while you may be nervous about your big presentation, a healthy diet can help put you more at ease. Eat right today and give an amazing speech tomorrow.

People increasingly choose junk food as a result of the rise of meal delivery apps and other factors. Junk food consumption affects blood sugar levels irregularly and negatively impacts concentration.

Junk food according to research has shown that when regularly consumed it can cause severe damage to the health of an individual. The much-relished fast foods also fall under the umbrella of junk food. And to keep healthy one must keep at bay from such food. Different ways to deliver this message can be a long speech on avoiding junk food or a short speech on saying no to junk food.

This form of the long speech on junk food is extremely helpful for students in grades 8-12 who are assigned to deliver a 5-minute speech. 

Good morning to everyone present here, respected Principal, teachers, and my dear friends, I am Abc (mention your name) here to speak about a topic we know of but not entirely that is junk food. Yes, aren’t we all aware of the delicious junk food. In fact, we eat more junk food than healthy food without realizing what the consequences will be. 

Before going ahead let me ask you all a question about your breakfast habits. Do you actually take the time to consider what you eat as the most important meal like having fruits, toast, idli, dosa, etc or do you just buy something like a heavy cheesy sandwich from our canteens? I am certain we all act according to our convenience without considering the effects on our health.

It is indeed the changing times that we have been totally neglectful towards what we put into our bodies. Especially in metropolitan cities and towns where there is a surplus of junk food available it is more likely that everyone will consume it more. The main reason for it being so much in demand is because of its cheap price which is the perfect fit for teenagers and youngsters for the affordability of these products. 

Another main reason apart from being available for affordable prices is its delicious taste. Because of this very reason, it has more repeat value for the young kids and they seem to form an addiction to such kinds of foods. The other attracting quality of this junk food is that it is readily available at all times. Be it on the streets or now even in fast-food restaurants. So people find it extremely convenient to either eat on-site or even take away because it takes very little time to prepare.  

Junk in itself means waste and junk food also contains all the waste and unwanted additives and ingredients with high calories because of fat and sugar that is added in abundance. It also lacks everything good that is required for the body to function properly as the proper quantity of protein, fibers, vitamins, and minerals. It also contains trans-fats that are truly damaging in the long term and even in the short term period. 

These full of fats junk foods are, fried chicken, pizza, burger, noodles, pasta, hot dogs, potato chips like lays, puffcorn, popcorn, doughnuts, french fries, icecreams, tacos, cookies, and pancakes and as I mention this I am fully aware that there are many of our favorite food items in these. And while one can enjoy these once in a while and should not be consumed regularly. This is because it can lead to obesity, which will hamper appetite and digestion. 

And eventually lead to lethargy, inactive lifestyle, and depression. All of this in no way sounds kind to the children’s growth and development. Even though there are many KFC outlets and pizza outlets we must keep in mind that we are what we eat and avoid visiting such restaurants that serve so much junk food. Instead, go for fruits and vegetable vendors and exercise into a healthy lifestyle and healthy body. These small changes can lead to so many beneficial outcomes and we must start immediately. Start living a good life and stay healthy.

Short Speech on Junk Food

This kind of speech on junk food is short and hence can be extremely beneficial for students in grades 4-8 who can deliver a simple speech and cover all the important points.

Good morning all, respected Principal, teachers, and my dear friends today I am here to speak on the topic of junk food. Junk food is termed junk food because all the components in it are waste, unhealthy and unimportant. These components are oil, trans fats instead of the good omega fats, sugar, fats, calories, minimal to no proteins, and fibers. 

Even with so many problems, the endorsement of it is very alluring. Junk food, mostly fast foods, are easily available on the streets. It is charged at a reasonable price so even the young ones are buying without any issues and since it is also delicious it is very appealing. 

We learn the components that have to be consumed for a healthy body and the food chart clearly mentions consuming less of all the components that are abundantly present in junk food. Yet we keep falling prey to such false advertisements of burgers, biryanis, pizzas, pasta, chips, and noodles.  

The problem with all of this is not the availability of it and the accessibility of the junk food; it is how regularly the choice of eating such unhealthy food is being made instead of the good homemade and fine food.

Our health is in our own hands, and we can make the choice to either destroy it or conserve and preserve it to live a long and healthy life. Let us all make this choice sooner rather than later so we do not regret our decisions when we have diabetes, obesity, depression, heart diseases, cholesterol early in our lives. The time is now to make healthy choices and let us pledge to do so by avoiding harmful foods that damage our health and body.

With so many problems children suffer from a lack of growth and development and start leading a lethargic and inactive life.

Hence one must say no to junk food and yes to healthy dietary foods that keep us safe and help us live longer. And one must encourage others to opt for such healthy lifestyle changes as well.

Intake of junk food is very harmful to one’s health. We all know that. It has always been an issue. But, with the passage of time, it has become more of a bigger issue. This is due to the fact that the consumption of such foods has witnessed tremendous growth. And the big part of the statistics is that more and more teens and adolescents have been consuming them in increased amounts every year. There are many studies that have some very thought-provoking statistics. 

Importance of a Speech on Junk Food

Various studies show the very consequences that have surfaced after so much consumption of junk food. As a result, it is a very important topic for schools to discuss with the students. And what better way to do that than with a speech from a fellow student?

Yes, many schools have been leaning towards the idea of starting a conversation with their students on the topic of the extreme consumption of junk food. City council passes Gaza ceasefire resolution, condemns antisemitic speech from public comment

The Bloomington City Council joined more than 70 cities across the country in calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas War. The council unanimously passed a resolution urging national leaders to work towards a ceasefire and provide more aid in the war. Later in the meeting the council condemned antisemitic and racist speech that occurred during public comment.  

The council’s vote comes after more than a month of conflicting pressure from residents regarding a ceasefire resolution. For the past three council meetings, public commenters have asked the council to introduce and pass a resolution calling for a ceasefire in the war, which began after Hamas killed about 1,200 people in Israel during their Oct. 7 attack. In response to this attack, Israel launched a ground offensive and airstrike campaign in Gaza, killing more than 32,000 Palestinians in Gaza and displacing 80% of Gaza’s population .  

However, other residents have urged the council to abstain from introducing any resolution, arguing the council should use its time and resources to address other local issues. The debate among public commenters at the council’s previous three meetings turned contentious at times, and Wednesday’s meeting was no exception.  

During public comment on the resolution, many community members said the legislation was inflammatory and divisive, while others said it did not go far enough to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.  

The resolution , sponsored by councilmembers Isabel Piedmont-Smith and Dave Rollo, asks national leaders to work toward a bilaterial ceasefire to allow more humanitarian aid in the war. It condemns Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israeli civilians and opposes “all violence that leads to the loss of innocent civilian lives and ongoing human suffering in both Palestine and Israel.” The resolution also calls for a “lasting” ceasefire and a “sustainable, peaceful solution to the conflict between Palestinians and the State of Israel.”  

Additionally, the resolution calls for the immediate release of all hostages taken by Hamas during their attack. Hamas took around 250 hostages Oct. 7 and has since released around 110 hostages.  

While the resolution condemns Hamas’ attack, it does not include a clause stating Hamas should be disarmed, a clause some community members wanted the council to include. The legislation also does not include the word “genocide” referring to the Israeli military’s campaign — another classification heavily debated during past council meetings.  

The International Court of Justice issued a preliminary ruling in January stating there was “plausible” evidence Israel was violating portions of the 1948 Genocide Convention. While the court ordered Israel to increase aid in Gaza and prevent acts of genocide, it did not order a ceasefire in the war. However, Israeli officials rejected these allegations and argued representatives from South Africa, who brought the case to the court, were “weaponizing” the international convention against genocide.  

The resolution directs City Clerk Nicole Bolden to send a copy of the legislation to the Indiana Congressional delegation and President Joe Biden.   

President Biden told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Thursday that future U.S. support for the war will depend on Israel taking steps to protect civilians and aid workers. According to the Associated Press , Biden urged the Israeli leader to reach an immediate ceasefire “without delay.”   

In a memo to the rest of the council, Piedmont-Smith and Rollo said they focused the resolution on humanitarian concerns instead of military or political causes.  

“We do not presume to know how to resolve the complicated, nuanced, long-standing conflict between the State of Israel and the Palestinian people,” they wrote. “What we intend is to speak out against the intolerable cruelty of children dying of hunger, women subjected to surgery without anesthetic and Gazans of all ages stricken by preventable disease due to unsafe drinking water.”  

Before the first public comment section, councilmember Sydney Zulich, the only Jewish member of the council, urged members of the public to be careful of using harmful language conflating being Jewish with supporting Israel’s actions. She also said there were comments at the March 27 public comment section equally hurtful to Palestinians.  

Councilmember Hopi Stosberg said she was disappointed with the behavior of audience members during the March 27 council last meeting , where some audience members booed and shouted “shame” at a speaker who said the council should avoid using “inflammatory language” and that claims Israel is committing genocide are unfounded. She said making noise while someone is at the podium means the council cannot hear what the speaker is trying to say.  

In response to Stosberg’s request that audience members not boo, clap or yell during public comment, one public commenter said it was the duty of those in the audience to boo to express their opposition to racism and hate.  

During the first public comment section, where members of the public can comment on issues not on the council’s agenda, several speakers on Zoom used racist and antisemitic rhetoric. Two speakers concluded their statements with “Hail Hitler.”  

During the public comment section on the ceasefire resolution later in the meeting, another speaker made antisemitic statements, including claims that Jewish people control media and government.  

Zulich pointed out that most of the antisemitic, anti-Palestinian and racist hate speech occurred over Zoom.  

“It’s easy to spew that kind of rhetoric without looking any of us in the eye,” Zulich said.  

Bloomington Mayor Kerry Thomson took to the podium, fighting back tears, to address these comments. She said she was disappointed and shocked by the comments and condemned the hate speech. She urged Bloomington residents to stand up to hate speech and threats.  

“You do not need to say something perfectly,” Thomson said. “Just stand up and say something.”  

At the council's meeting March 27, Thomson said she would not sign any resolutions addressing issues outside of city business. While she said this during the council’s debate on a resolution opposing a state-sponsored water pipeline , Deputy Mayor Gretchen Knapp confirmed to the Indiana Daily Student last week her statements also applied to the ceasefire resolution.  

Indiana Code requires Thomson to sign or veto resolutions that come to her desk. If she fails to sign the resolution, it is considered vetoed and would return to the council for another vote. Six of the nine councilmembers must vote to override her veto.
