Benefits of choosing a favourite Subject

Choosing a favourite subject helps a person to stay genuinely focused during their course of study. The person becomes more committed to learning new things about that subject. It adds meaning to life. The benefits of choosing a favourite subject solely depend on the subject selected. For example, if we choose mathematics, then it improves calculation skills and is advantageous in daily life courses. If we decide English, it helps in improving vocabulary and speaking skills. If we choose history, it helps in discovering ancestral facts. If we choose science, it leads us to undiscovered and beautiful parts of the world. Likewise, each subject has a beauty of its own.

Each subject has something more to offer us other than just bookish knowledge. It teaches us something new, something that leads to a better perspective on life. This knowledge opens doors to an unimaginable world. From the tip of a pen to the distant bright stars, we are surrounded by different subject knowledge.

How do planets orbit the Sun? How do animals and plants reproduce? Why can birds fly, but humans can’t? How angles describe the motion of any object? There are numerous questions, and there is a wide range of possibilities to answer these questions. Also, we can only answer them if we know that subject. These questions and answers bring interest to a subject. To discover the unknown roads of science & technology, mathematics, English, history, biology, etc. we develop a compelling interest in a subject and that is what makes life more enjoyable.

My Favourite Subject – Essay 2

When I was in standard five, I happened to fail in history in the first unit test, and then daddy began teaching me history. He is a professor of history and is an expert in the subject.

He explained to me the events and incidents given in the textbooks as if they were all interesting stories. I did very well in history as in the next examination.

But more than that, I had developed an abiding love for the subject. From then on, history has always been my favourite subject. I love reading about the Battles of Panipat , about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s victories and the great Indian freedom struggle. The bravery of the Rani of Jhansi fascinates me.

I always in search of books that tell me more about these great people, especially their childhood. There is the story of how Gandhiji refused to copy the word he had mis-spelt.

Or the one about how tilak, in the school he had not thrown peanut shells on the floor. Or the one of how Vallabhbhai Patel took a hot iron to burn a boil under his armpit. These stories show me how brave and truthful these great leaders were, even as children. Many of my friends complain that history is a very dull and hard subject. Thankfully, it isn’t for me. It shall always be my one and only favourite subject.

My Favourite Subject is Maths

Many student fears to Maths subject, I was among them only. Once I failed in the Mathematics, I was depressed. My friends start making fun of me.

I was lucky that my mother was a Maths Teacher, she always prompts me that, Rahul lets ply with maths, but I didn’t take that seriously.

When I told, my mother that I have failed in maths subject, she got shocked. But thankfully, she didn’t shout at me, instead of that she give me an inspirational speech.

Later on she start teaching me Mathematics, she taught me to play with maths and really I enjoyed a lot, from that day Maths became my favourite subject.

I score out of marks in this subject. Now I also teach those friends who really fear to Maths. They have set a mentality of that maths subject is very difficult and it has hell lot of formula to remember.

But my mother taught me maths in fun way; I used that technique to solve the problem. Now I generally search for problem to solve them. From this my confidence level has increase and I’m happy that most difficult subject has become a game for me.

Becoming engineer is my ambition, and in Engineering there are hell lots of complex problem, so I wish it will be easy for me.

My Favourite Subject is Science

My favourite subject in school is Science. It is my favourite subject because I never face any problem while learning it and it came easy to me. I always score good marks in my science test.

According to me, everything that surrounds us is science. Everything that we use someway or somehow is made by science. Science is nothing but discovering something new and then find what it can be capable of and where it can fit in use.

Other subject like mathematics has many formulae and every step in solving problem is done logically. Remembering the formulas and other facts is hard work compared to the ease and simplicity of science. Although it requires a lot of memory work but I never have any difficulty.

While science is simple to me, some of my friends finds it difficult. They often get stuck and give up, so I try to help them out.

The one advantage that I have in being good in science I study regularly and do my homework on time. I prepare some test paper on my own to test my skills. This way I don’t have to spend more time on it and I get enough time to study other subjects as well.

Today science has taken us to a new level, from fast computers to smartphones and it has been a huge breakthrough in science.

Science is both physics and chemistry. In science of chemistry, various elements are discovered and these elements are used in chemical bonding. In physics, there are many discovered laws and properties.

I have come to realize that every person has their own ability. If a person is good in something it is not necessary that he/she would be good in everything. If you’re good in something than don’t make fun others who are not, instead try to help them.

My Favourite Subject is English

English is my favourite subject, because I have never faced any problem to achieve good marks. My teacher Mrs. Leena helps me a lot to improve my grammar.

Earlier, English subject was not my favourite, but once I failed in this subject. I got depressed, but my mother as well as my teacher boost my confidence and help me a lot.

Today I feel English is such a wonderful subject, if you can speak and understand English then you can sustain in any part of the countries.

I feel like gentleman, whenever I speak in English.  One way you can improve your vocabulary, by reading hell lot of good books.

I help my friends when they stuck to any difficulty.  Nowadays I search for good English Novel to read and improve my language.

Really English subject is an easy subject, if you have interest in reading and improving.

My Favourite Subject Essay - 100, 200, 500 Words

Essay on my favourite subject -.

A subject refers to a branch of knowledge or a specific topic studied in school or university. It can be a physical science, such as physics or chemistry, a social science, such as history or economics, or a humanities subject, such as literature or art. A favourite subject is a personal preference, it is the subject that someone particularly enjoys or has a strong interest in, and they might find it more enjoyable or easier to learn. It can be different for each person and can change over time.

100 Words On My Favourite Subject

My favourite subject is English Literature . The power of language has always fascinated me, and the way it can evoke emotions, paint vivid images in my mind, and tell captivating stories. Reading classic works of literature, like Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" and William Shakespeare's "Hamlet," is a window into different cultures and societies. I find it particularly interesting to study the historical and cultural context in which these works were written and to analyse the themes and symbolism used by the authors.

English Literature also allows me to improve my critical thinking skills as I learn to analyse texts and identify patterns. It encourages me to develop my own opinions and interpretations. Studying English Literature has helped me to become a better communicator and to express my ideas more effectively.

My favourite subject is mathematics. Mathematics is not just a subject but a tool to understand and solve problems in real life. The subject requires critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity . It is a subject that can be applied to many other fields, such as physics, engineering, and economics.

One of my favourite areas in mathematics is calculus, which deals with the study of change. Calculus provides a framework for analysing how things change and how we can understand and predict their behaviour. This is a subject that has revolutionised many fields, from engineering to economics, and has had a profound impact on our understanding of the world around us.

In addition to its practical applications, mathematics is also a beautiful and elegant subject. There is a sense of satisfaction in solving a mathematical problem, especially when it is difficult. I love the way mathematical concepts can be related to each other, providing a deeper understanding and a broader perspective.

500 Words Essay On My Favourite Subject

History is a fascinating subject that has always been my favourite. From learning about the great civilisations of the past to exploring the events that have shaped the world we live in today, I find history to be both captivating and incredibly important.

Why I Love History

I have always been drawn to the stories and personalities of the past. From the bravery of soldiers in battle to the cunning of political leaders, I love learning about how people have interacted with each other and with the world around them throughout history. Additionally, I find it fascinating to see how different cultures and societies have evolved over time and how these changes have shaped the world we live in today.

The Importance and Significance of History

History is much more than just a collection of old stories and dates. By studying our past, we gain a better insight into the world we live in today. Studying history also gives us the opportunity to learn from the failures and successes of the past so that we can shape the future in a more positive direction.

For example, by learning about the causes of past wars and conflicts, we can work to prevent similar events from happening in the future. Similarly, by studying the rise and fall of different civilisations, we can gain insights into how societies can thrive or decline.

History also plays a vital role in shaping our identities and cultural heritage. By learning about our own history and the history of those around us, we can better understand our place in the world and our connection to others.

The Origin of History

The origins of history can be traced back to ancient civilisations, such as the Romans and Greeks, who recorded their own histories in works such as Herodotus' "The Histories" and Livy's "The History of Rome" . These early histories were often written with a political or moral purpose in mind, but they laid the foundation for the more impartial and analytical approach to history that we have today.

Real-Life Applications of History

The study of history has a wide range of real-life applications. For example, it is an essential tool for understanding the political and social issues of our own time. By studying the events and policies of the past, we can gain a better understanding of the complex systems and processes that shape the world we live in.

Additionally, history plays an important role in many fields, such as archaeology, law, and education. For example, archaeologists use history to understand the context and significance of the artefacts they uncover, while lawyers use historical precedent to make decisions in court. Furthermore, history is a vital part of our education system, as it helps us to understand the world we live in and the events that have shaped it.

I believe that history is a subject that is both captivating and incredibly important. From exploring the stories of the past to gaining insights into the world we live in today, the study of history has the power to shape our understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

Mathematics is my favourite subject because it fascinates me. It’s like a puzzle that needs solving, a game that requires strategy. Every problem in maths presents a challenge, and finding the solution brings immense satisfaction. I particularly enjoy how maths is everywhere  around us , from counting the number of fruits at home to measuring the length and breadth of my notebook. There are several  big  mathematicians from whom I take inspiration, like Archimedes, Aryabhatta, Pythagoras, Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Ramanujan, and more. One day, I aspire to be like them and solve great puzzles and mathematics problems. Until then, I’ll study more and solve mathematics problems more.

As children gradually move up their classes, they learn more vocabulary and sharpen their writing skills with more complex thoughts more easily. Here’s a short sample essay for class 1, 2 and 3 to understand how their favourite subject can be described in more detail.

Mathematics is my favourite subject in school.  I have been fond of  mathematics  since my early school days.  The logic and structure of maths  problems make them like puzzles waiting to be solved.  I take inspiration from  big  ancient mathematicians, like Archimedes, Aryabhatta, Pythagoras, Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Ramanujan, and more. I aspire to be like them one day, solving puzzles and mathematics problems. My maths teacher explains the concepts in a simple and fun way, making the learning experience enjoyable. I particularly love the part where we learn about shapes and their properties. It’s fascinating to see how these shapes and numbers are present in our daily lives, whether  it is  in counting, measuring or even in organising things around us.  Maths is not just a subject ,  but  it is  a tool that helps me understand the world better.  I aim to excel in this subject and use it to solve real-world problems in the future.

Has your budding mathematician already reached class 3? You must be very proud of them. As students progress in classes, their level of study also increases. We have created an essay for class 3, keeping in mind the level of understanding, vocabulary, and information processing at this stage.

Each student has a subject that holds a special place in their heart. For some, it might be a creative subject like Art or Music. For others, it might be a language, science, or even physical education. But for me, the subject that sparks my interest the most is Mathematics. The world of numbers and figures, problem-solving, and logical thinking has always intrigued me.

History of Maths

Mathematics has a rich history that dates back to ancient times. Primitive societies used basic maths for simple tasks, such as counting, measuring, and tracking time. Over time, civilizations such as the Egyptians, Greeks, and Indians advanced in mathematics, introducing concepts like geometry, algebra, and trigonometry. These contributions have been instrumental in shaping the modern world of maths that we know and use today.

Significance of Maths

Mathematics is everywhere and forms an integral part of our daily lives. It’s in the alarm that wakes us up in the morning, the money we use to buy goods, the measurements we use for cooking, and the technology that simplifies our lives. From engineers and scientists to shopkeepers and cooks, everyone uses mathematics in some way. It helps us solve problems, make decisions, and think logically, which is why it is taught as a crucial subject in schools worldwide.

Why Mathematics Is My Favourite Subject?

Mathematics is my favourite subject for various reasons. Firstly, I enjoy the challenge of solving problems. Each mathematical problem is like a puzzle waiting to be solved, and the thrill of finding the solution is immensely satisfying.

Secondly, mathematics is a universal language. No matter where we go, the principles of maths remain the same. It bridges the gap between different cultures and languages, making it a truly global subject.

Thirdly, maths teaches me to think logically and critically. It encourages me to break down complex problems into simpler parts, analyze each part, and find a solution step by step. This approach is not only useful for solving maths problems but also for tackling everyday challenges.

Moreover, maths provides immediate feedback. If a problem has been solved correctly, the answer will fit perfectly. This direct response system makes learning more effective and enjoyable.

Lastly, the application of mathematics in the real world is fascinating. From understanding the patterns in nature to the structure of the universe, maths helps us make sense of the world around us.

Through this essay, children learn about the historical significance of maths, its relevance in everyday life, and how it has become an inseparable part of human civilization. They will also understand the fun and exciting aspects of mathematics. Maths is also an integral part of physics and accounting, which is used for astronomy, engineering, computer science, business, and even design. Therefore, it is involved in activities that range from very trivial to life-altering.

1. Who is known as the Father of Maths?

The title “Father of Mathematics” is usually awarded to ancient Greek mathematician Pythagoras.

2. What are the challenges students encounter when learning mathematics?

Some common challenges students face include abstract concepts, lack of practice, fear of failure, poor foundational knowledge, and ineffective teaching methods.

Remember, maths is not about rote memorization but understanding concepts. Encourage children to explore, understand, and love the subject. After all, mathematics is a beautiful subject that has the power to describe the world around us.

500 Words Essay on My Favourite Subject

As a student, everyone excels in some subjects and not in the others. Of course, there are some students who do well in all of them, but that number is low. However, almost every student has a favourite subject. It does not matter if it’s related to academics or arts.

Essay on My Favourite Subject

Personally, my favorite subject is English. I have always scored well on the subject because I understand it well. It makes learning effortless and I always manage to get good marks. There are other subjects I like too but English definitely tops my list. I never get bored of it and am always ready to study it.

Reason For Favouritism

There are many reasons as to why I enjoy studying English. The major one is that it enhances my reading skills. Ever since my childhood, my mother has always read stories to me. So, I developed a habit of reading and listening to stories. As my reading skills get polished through English, it helps me in other subjects too. I grasp the concepts better through reading.

Furthermore, through English, I developed a knack for writing. I absolutely enjoy writing essays and articles. It is only through English, that I started writing my own work. This helps me in forming incredible answers for other subjects as well. It gives me the experience to use accurate words and sentences to convey my message better.

Most importantly, I love fictional stories in English. I love how it always has some lessons in them to learn. They also apply in real life and help me make wise decisions. The stories in English novels and plays always keeps me entertained. It also enhances my imagination powers.

A Scoring Subject

English is definitely a scoring subject which makes it even more special for me. I am an average student who does not take much interest in Science. I manage to get decent marks in the subjects, but in English, I score well. When we compare English to other subjects, we see it is most scoring.

English does not demand word to word answers. It gives the child a chance to play with words. It gives them the creative liberty to speak their minds out. For instance, in Maths, you cannot create your own formulas. You must copy the same exact one taught in the syllabus. But, in English, we can compose our own answers based on our understanding and intelligence.

In addition, English teachers are usually more approachable and understanding. In other subjects, the teachers always have to stick by the book and literally make students mug up the formulas and theories. The English teacher takes time to make them understand each phrase. They allow the students to interpret it as per their intellect. This empowers the child too so they can put their own thinking in it.

In short, I absolutely love English. It gives me the chance to excel without putting too much pressure on me. I get to play with words and form my own interpretations. This helps me get the creative freedom I do not get in other subjects.

FAQs on My Favourite Subject

Q.1 What does a favorite subject mean?

A.1 A favorite subject essentially means a particular subject which kid really enjoy studying. They never get bored of it and score good marks in it.

Q.2 Why is English a scoring subject?

A.2 English a scoring subject because it gives the child creative freedom to form their own answers. It does not stick to the book. It gives the child an opportunity to make their own answers and get good marks.

What Students Are Saying About the Value of Math

We asked teenagers: Do you see the point in learning math? The answer from many was “yes.”

maths is my favourite subject essay

By The Learning Network

“Mathematics, I now see, is important because it expands the world,” Alec Wilkinson writes in a recent guest essay . “It is a point of entry into larger concerns. It teaches reverence. It insists one be receptive to wonder. It requires that a person pay close attention.”

In our writing prompt “ Do You See the Point in Learning Math? ” we wanted to know if students agreed. Basic arithmetic, sure, but is there value in learning higher-level math, such as algebra, geometry and calculus? Do we appreciate math enough?

The answer from many students — those who love and those who “detest” the subject alike — was yes. Of course math helps us balance checkbooks and work up budgets, they said, but it also helps us learn how to follow a formula, appreciate music, draw, shoot three-pointers and even skateboard. It gives us different perspectives, helps us organize our chaotic thoughts, makes us more creative, and shows us how to think rationally.

Not all were convinced that young people should have to take higher-level math classes all through high school, but, as one student said, “I can see myself understanding even more how important it is and appreciating it more as I get older.”

Thank you to all the teenagers who joined the conversation on our writing prompts this week, including students from Bentonville West High School in Centerton, Ark, ; Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles ; and North High School in North St. Paul, Minn.

Please note: Student comments have been lightly edited for length, but otherwise appear as they were originally submitted.

“Math is a valuable tool and function of the world.”

As a musician, math is intrinsically related to my passion. As a sailor, math is intertwined with the workings of my boat. As a human, math is the building block for all that functions. When I was a child, I could very much relate to wanting a reason behind math. I soon learned that math IS the reason behind all of the world’s workings. Besides the benefits that math provides to one’s intellect, it becomes obvious later in life that math is a valuable tool and function of the world. In music for example, “adolescent mathematics” are used to portray functions of audio engineering. For example, phase shifting a sine wave to better project sound or understanding waves emitted by electricity and how they affect audio signals. To better understand music, math is a recurring pattern of intervals between generating pitches that are all mathematically related. The frets on a guitar are measured precisely to provide intervals based on a tuning system surrounding 440Hz, which is the mathematically calculated middle of the pitches humans can perceive and a string can effectively generate. The difference between intervals in making a chord are not all uniform, so guitar frets are placed in a way where all chords can sound equally consonant and not favor any chord. The power of mathematics! I am fascinated by the way that math creeps its way into all that I do, despite my plentiful efforts to keep it at a safe distance …

— Renan, Miami Country Day School

“Math isn’t about taking derivatives or solving for x, it’s about having the skills to do so and putting them to use elsewhere in life.”

I believe learning mathematics is both crucial to the learning and development of 21st century students and yet also not to be imposed upon learners too heavily. Aside from the rise in career opportunity in fields centered around mathematics, the skills gained while learning math are able to be translated to many facets of life after a student’s education. Learning mathematics develops problem solving skills which combine logic and reasoning in students as they grow. The average calculus student may complain of learning how to take derivatives, arguing that they will never have to use this after high school, and in that, they may be right. Many students in these math classes will become writers, musicians, or historians and may never take a derivative in their life after high school, and thus deem the skill to do so useless. However, learning mathematics isn’t about taking derivatives or solving for x, it’s about having the skills to do so and putting them to use elsewhere in life. A student who excels at calculus may never use it again, but with the skills of creativity and rational thinking presented by this course, learning mathematics will have had a profound effect on their life.

— Cam, Glenbard West

“Just stop and consider your hobbies and pastimes … all of it needs math.”

Math is timing, it’s logic, it’s precision, it’s structure, and it’s the way most of the physical world works. I love math — especially algebra and geometry — as it all follows a formula, and if you set it up just right, you can create almost anything you want in at least two different ways. Just stop and consider your hobbies and pastimes. You could be into skateboarding, basketball, or skiing. You could be like me, and sit at home for hours on end grinding out solves on a Rubik’s cube. Or you could be into sketching. Did you know that a proper drawing of the human face places the eyes exactly halfway down from the top of the head? All of it needs math. Author Alec Wilkinson, when sharing his high school doubting view on mathematics, laments “If I had understood how deeply mathematics is embedded in the world …” You can’t draw a face without proportions. You can’t stop with your skis at just any angle. You can’t get three points without shooting at least 22 feet away from the basket, and get this: you can’t even ride a skateboard if you can’t create four congruent wheels to put on it.

— Marshall, Union High School, Vancouver, WA

“Math gives us a different perspective on everyday activities.”

Even though the question “why do we even do math?” is asked all the time, there is a deeper meaning to the values it shares. Math gives us a different perspective on everyday activities, even if those activities in our routine have absolutely nothing to do with mathematical concepts itself. Geometry, for instance, allows us to think on a different level than simply achieving accuracy maintains. It trains our mind to look at something from various viewpoints as well as teaching us to think before acting and organizing chaotic thoughts. The build up of learning math can allow someone to mature beyond the point where if they didn’t learn math and thought through everything. It paves a way where we develop certain characteristics and traits that are favorable when assisting someone with difficult tasks in the future.

— Linden, Harvard-Westlake High School, CA

“Math teaches us how to think.”

As explained in the article, math is all around us. Shapes, numbers, statistics, you can find math in almost anything and everything. But is it important for all students to learn? I would say so. Math in elementary school years is very important because it teaches how to do simple calculations that can be used in your everyday life; however middle and high school math isn’t used as directly. Math teaches us how to think. It’s far different from any other subject in school, and truly understanding it can be very rewarding. There are also many career paths that are based around math, such as engineering, statistics, or computer programming, for example. These careers are all crucial for society to function, and many pay well. Without a solid background in math, these careers wouldn’t be possible. While math is a very important subject, I also feel it should become optional at some point, perhaps part way through high school. Upper level math classes often lose their educational value if the student isn’t genuinely interested in learning it. I would encourage all students to learn math, but not require it.

— Grey, Cary High School

“Math is a valuable tool for everyone to learn, but students need better influences to show them why it’s useful.”

Although I loved math as a kid, as I got older it felt more like a chore; all the kids would say “when am I ever going to use this in real life?” and even I, who had loved math, couldn’t figure out how it benefits me either. This was until I started asking my dad for help with my homework. He would go on and on about how he used the math I was learning everyday at work and even started giving me examples of when and where I could use it, which changed my perspective completely. Ultimately, I believe that math is a valuable tool for everyone to learn, but students need better influences to show them why it’s useful and where they can use it outside of class.

— Lilly, Union High School

“At the roots of math, it teaches people how to follow a process.”

I do believe that the math outside of arithmetic, percentages, and fractions are the only math skills truly needed for everyone, with all other concepts being only used for certain careers. However, at the same time, I can’t help but want to still learn it. I believe that at the roots of math, it teaches people how to follow a process. All mathematics is about following a formula and then getting the result of it as accurately as possible. It teaches us that in order to get the results needed, all the work must be put and no shortcuts or guesses can be made. Every equation, number, and symbol in math all interconnect with each other, to create formulas that if followed correctly gives us the answer needed. Everything is essential to getting the results needed, and skipping a step will lead to a wrong answer. Although I do understand why many would see no reason to learn math outside of arithmetic, I also see lessons of work ethics and understanding the process that can be applied to many real world scenarios.

— Takuma, Irvine High School

“I see now that math not only works through logic but also creativity.”

A story that will never finish resembling the universe constantly expanding, this is what math is. I detest math, but I love a never-ending tale of mystery and suspense. If we were to see math as an adventure it would make it more enjoyable. I have often had a closed mindset on math, however, viewing it from this perspective, I find it much more appealing. Teachers urge students to try on math and though it seems daunting and useless, once you get to higher math it is still important. I see now that math not only works through logic but also creativity and as the author emphasizes, it is “a fundamental part of the world’s design.” This view on math will help students succeed and have a more open mindset toward math. How is this never-ending story of suspense going to affect YOU?

— Audrey, Vancouver, WA union high school

“In some word problems, I encounter problems that thoroughly interest me.”

I believe math is a crucial thing to learn as you grow up. Math is easily my favorite subject and I wish more people would share my enthusiasm. As Alec Wilkinson writes, “Mathematics, I now see, is important because it expands the world.” I have always enjoyed math, but until the past year, I have not seen a point in higher-level math. In some of the word problems I deal with in these classes, I encounter problems that thoroughly interest me. The problems that I am working on in math involve the speed of a plane being affected by wind. I know this is not riveting to everyone, but I thoroughly wonder about things like this on a daily basis. The type of math used in the plane problems is similar to what Alec is learning — trigonometry. It may not serve the most use to me now, but I believe a thorough understanding of the world is a big part of living a meaningful life.

— Rehan, Cary High School

“Without high school classes, fewer people get that spark of wonder about math.”

I think that math should be required through high school because math is a use-it-or-lose-it subject. If we stop teaching math in high school and just teach it up to middle school, not only will many people lose their ability to do basic math, but we will have fewer and fewer people get that spark of wonder about math that the author had when taking math for a second time; after having that spark myself, I realized that people start getting the spark once they are in harder math classes. At first, I thought that if math stopped being required in high school, and was offered as an elective, then only people with the spark would continue with it, and everything would be okay. After thinking about the consequences of the idea, I realized that technology requires knowing the seemingly unneeded math. There is already a shortage of IT professionals, and stopping math earlier will only worsen that shortage. Math is tricky. If you try your best to understand it, it isn’t too hard. However, the problem is people had bad math teachers when they were younger, which made them hate math. I have learned that the key to learning math is to have an open mind.

— Andrew, Cary High School

“I think math is a waste of my time because I don’t think I will ever get it.”

In the article Mr. Wilkinson writes, “When I thought about mathematics at all as a boy it was to speculate about why I was being made to learn it, since it seemed plainly obvious that there was no need for it in adult life.” His experience as a boy resonates with my experience now. I feel like math is extremely difficult at some points and it is not my strongest subject. Whenever I am having a hard time with something I get a little upset with myself because I feel like I need to get everything perfect. So therefore, I think it is a waste of my time because I don’t think I will ever get it. At the age of 65 Mr. Wilkinson decided to see if he could learn more/relearn algebra, geometry and calculus and I can’t imagine myself doing this but I can see myself understanding even more how important it is and appreciating it more as I get older. When my dad was young he hated history but, as he got older he learned to appreciate it and see how we can learn from our past mistakes and he now loves learning new things about history.

— Kate, Cary High School

“Not all children need to learn higher level math.”

The higher levels of math like calculus, algebra, and geometry have shaped the world we live in today. Just designing a house relates to math. To be in many professions you have to know algebra, geometry, and calculus such as being an economist, engineer, and architect. Although higher-level math isn’t useful to some people. If you want to do something that pertains to math, you should be able to do so and learn those high levels of math. Many things children learn in math they will never use again, so learning those skills isn’t very helpful … Children went through so much stress and anxiety to learn these skills that they will never see again in their lives. In school, children are using their time learning calculus when they could be learning something more meaningful that can prepare them for life.

— Julyssa, Hanover Horton High School

“Once you understand the basics, more math classes should be a choice.”

I believe that once you get to the point where you have a great understanding of the basics of math, you should be able to take more useful classes that will prepare you for the future better, rather than memorizing equations after equations about weird shapes that will be irrelevant to anything in my future. Yes, all math levels can be useful to others’ futures depending on what career path they choose, but for the ones like me who know they are not planning on encountering extremely high level math equations on the daily, we should not have to take math after a certain point.

— Tessa, Glenbard West High School

“Math could shape the world if it were taught differently.”

If we learned how to balance checkbooks and learn about actual life situations, math could be more helpful. Instead of learning about rare situations that probably won’t come up in our lives, we should be learning how to live on a budget and succeed money-wise. Since it is a required class, learning this would save more people from going into debt and overspending. In schools today, we have to take a specific class that doesn’t sound appealing to the average teenager to learn how to save and spend money responsibly. If it was required in math to learn about that instead of how far Sally has to walk then we would be a more successful nation as a whole. Math could shape the world differently but the way it is taught in schools does not have much impact on everyday life.

— Becca, Bentonville West High School

“To be honest, I don’t see the point in learning all of the complicated math.”

In a realistic point of view, I need to know how to cut a cake or a piece of pie or know how to divide 25,000 dollars into 10 paychecks. On the other hand, I don’t need to know the arc and angle. I need to throw a piece of paper into a trash can. I say this because, in all reality and I know a lot of people say this but it’s true, when are we actually going to need this in our real world lives? Learning complicated math is a waste of precious learning time unless you desire to have a career that requires these studies like becoming an engineer, or a math professor. I think that the fact that schools are still requiring us to learn these types of mathematics is just ignorance from the past generations. I believe that if we have the technology to complete these problems in a few seconds then we should use this technology, but the past generations are salty because they didn’t have these resources so they want to do the same thing they did when they were learning math. So to be honest, I don’t see the point in learning all of the complicated math but I do think it’s necessary to know the basic math.

English is my favourite subject. I love to read stories and poems. When I read, I feel I can see the characters and touch them. I can see the trees, mountains, and valleys and hear the animals and birds in the stories and poems. My favourite subject let me learn the basics of grammar that will help me throughout my life. Reading helps me learn new words every day. I love to write all these words and use them in daily life. I also like to know the spelling of the words and how to pronounce them. I get a lot of freedom to express my imagination with the help of new words.

The curriculum in school plays an essential role in your child’s development. Let us help your child write a beautiful paragraph on their favourite subject, Science. Class 3 students can refer to this to write an essay:

Each of us has a subject that we love the most in school! My favourite subject is Science. I am a curious person who relishes learning about how things happen. Science helps me find those answers in real life. This subject lets us see everything in a very practical way. Science is involved in every activity of nature that happens around us. The leaves sway in the direction in which the wind blows. I find observing these little things very interesting. I can study Science for a long time without getting bored. It is amazing to see the effects of the law of gravity in so many places. For example, when it rains, the raindrops fall from the sky, hit the ground, and do not keep floating in the air. When we throw a ball, it comes down. It happens because of the gravitational force. I think of great scientists whenever I study this subject. We did a science project in school, and I was amazed to learn how life evolved on this planet from a single cell called the amoeba. We did another project where we used a string to outline the cell, and then we stuck different pulses with glue to mark the inside. I love doing science projects we get in school. I look forward to the science class out of all the other classes on my timetable. Our science teacher guides us on how to do these assignments. At home, my mother helps me while I do the projects. My school holds science competitions and quiz contests once every few months. My father is a scientist. I want to be a scientist like him when I grow up because I love science!

When your child writes about their favourite subject, it encourages them to figure out the subject they love among all the subjects that they study in school. It expands their power of imagination and helps them express ideas on paper. This process lays the foundation of grammar and develops their creative writing skills. It also develops their linguistic skills and their vocabulary. Writing about their favourite subject weaves their bond with academics. They realise their love for their best-loved subject even more after writing about it. The act of writing also helps develop your child’s fine motor skills.

We hope the above article will help your little ones to write an amazing essay on their favourite subject. We’ve kept the language simple, and ensured that the concepts discussed are easy enough for your child to grasp. Your kid can take inspiration from the above write-up and pen down their essay on the given topic.

My Favourite Subject Essay for Students in English [Easy Words*]

January 16, 2022 by Sandeep

Essay on My Favourite Subject

We have a particular interest and liking towards one subject, which undoubtedly becomes our favourite subject. Children tend to score well and perform better in their favourite subjects than others. Learning becomes easier and effortless in one’s favourite subject, and it enhances a child’s overall progress and builds his skills in a particular study area.

My Favourite Subject English

My favourite subject changed a lot, depending on the teacher. This is because a teacher with lots of enthusiasm and knowledge about their field can encourage me to enjoy a topic much more. Nevertheless, English has always been a consistent favourite of mine, and I’ve been fortunate to have so many good English teachers pass through my school life.

I enjoyed English primarily because the subject’s thoughtful, creative and inspirational nature always fascinated me. I always loved learning new literature and poetry because the experience would continually stir up my imagination. It would leave me wondering how capable we are if we just put our minds to it. Moreover, I received a lot of personal encouragement from English teachers. Because they knew that I wrote poetry and short stories, they would always appreciate my work and tell me to keep writing.

They were always pleased with my marks, although they did often have some rather stern warnings to offer about my handwriting! My favourite aspect of English is that I always stumble upon something new and exciting, so I don’t get bored. Often studying for exams can be awful and stressful, but studying for English exams was always fun.

Learning English at school has had its benefits- it has improved my writing a lot, and as a poet, I am very grateful for that. Moreover, developing strong writing and reading skills also helps you with your exams for other subjects, enabling you to shape answers in a manner that appeals to those reading them.

My Favourite Subject Maths

Every school offers its students a superb range of subjects to study and develop themselves in many ways. Nevertheless, all students are bound to have a favourite. My favourite subject is Mathematics because solving problems helps me focus, and the complexity of certain concepts is fascinating to me. To have an outstanding Maths teacher is always important because I think a smart and generous teacher can completely change the way you view the subject.

I wouldn’t say all my Maths teachers have been perfect, but I’ve learned from the experiences they have provided me. It is essential to understand what style of learning works best for you with mathematics. Not everyone can grasp a concept by merely doing a few practice problems. Everybody is different, and that is why one should always discuss this aspect of themselves with their teacher to improve themselves and score higher marks.

Nevertheless, it is essential to also focus on other subjects. If only mathematics mattered as society tells us it does, then the world would be in utter chaos. This is because there is much more to running the world smoothly than just scientists and mathematicians. Every profession matters, and so does every subject. Every child worldwide should always remember that when thinking about the things that make them happy.

My Favourite Subject Science

My favourite aspect of learning at school is how my subjects challenge me to look at the world from new perspectives. I think the subject that does this the best for me would be Science. It is interesting because of the variety in the subject and the many options explored, mainly Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

My favourite subject is Biology because the human body’s study fascinates me, and I especially enjoy units on how different organs and organ systems function, such as the heart. Chemistry is interesting too because it involves a lot of practical work, and doing experiments in the laboratory helps a lot with the learning process. Physics, on the other hand, can seem cumbersome. Still, if you read about it and look into how it affects the real world, it can be a fascinating field to explore.

My Favourite Subject Essay in English for Class 3 Students

Essay on my favourite subject for class 3 students.

Writing an essay on My Favorite Subject in English helps students from class 3 to express why the subject is close to them and what makes it interesting for them. Here, Vedantu has provided a Short Essay on My Favorite Subject for Class 3 Students so that it becomes easier for them to understand the importance of the subject and compose an essay on a topic of My Favorite Subject.

All students have one favorite subject out of all the different subjects they study at school. For most of the students, English is their favorite subject. English is one of the most interesting subjects. Students from class 3 can learn new words and read so many wonderful stories with English subjects. English not only helps students from class 3 to write better but also teaches them many new lessons.

Essay writing tasks are introduced in the syllabus of junior school so as to improve the English writing skills of young kids. It also helps the kids learn to put their ideas into meaningful sentences and paragraphs. While writing an essay on ‘My Favorite Subject’, kids will be able to communicate what exactly they are interested in when it comes to academics. We at Vedantu have come up with two essays on ‘My Favorite Subject’ that are easy to understand for the kids of class 3.

My Favorite Subject: Mathematics

My favorite subject is Mathematics and Miss Olivera teaches us this subject in school. Our school has given us three books on this subject. One book is for mental math, another book is full of worksheets and the third book has all the chapters explained with example sums.

Of all the subjects, I like doing math homework the most. I like solving the sums on double-digit addition and carry over subtraction. Whenever my mother takes me to the market along with her, I try to add up all the money spent before the shopkeeper makes the bill. Sometimes I can add it faster than the shopkeeper does.

I also like to solve the sums on Time and Calendar. My friends and I make teams and play games on time sums, at school. Another Math chapter that I find very interesting is Metric Measures. I do not like to learn all the conversions in this chapter, but I love to measure the lengths of my play tent and my teddy bear with a ruler. My father asks me to convert the length of my play tent into the other units of length that are given in my Math book. He keeps giving me a new task every day to calculate something.

My father helps me with my mathematics homework on the weekends. He always sets a timer on his mobile phone and asks me to finish all the sums within that time. He takes me out for an ice-cream treat whenever I am able to finish all the sums before the timer goes off. He keeps on telling me that I will be able to do good in Math if I practice more.

My Favorite Subject: English

My favorite subject is English and I love to read the stories in my English book. Miss Stephen is our English teacher at school. Our school follows two textbooks for English of which one is for English Grammar and another is for English Literature. Most of the stories and poems in my English book have interesting pictures illustrating the main plot. These pictures help me to understand the stories even better.

I get to learn many new words from each chapter in my English book. The meanings of the new words in every chapter are always given at the end of it. I find it very interesting to make sentences with every new English word that I learn. Also, our English teacher gives us five new vocabulary words to learn at home, every week. We have to write a spelling test on these vocabulary words, at the beginning of every week. I like to use these new vocabulary words when I write or speak to others in English.

In our school, inter-house competitions are held every month and I always participate in the activity of creative writing. All the stories and poems that I get to learn in the English classes help me perform better in this inter-house activity. My mother always tells me to write simple sentences in English so that the reader can understand my message. I love creative writing tasks as I get an opportunity to explore my imaginations more and to express my thoughts into words.

English is not only a regular subject but it also has a creative side. I like to write and express myself with these writings. English being my favorite subject, I love to read books and write poems and poetries too. This helps me with exploring my skills to write and communicate by learning new words every day through various lessons from the textbook.

One of the main reasons why English is my favorite subject out of all the subjects is because our English teacher is very kind and she teaches us very well. English is a subject that I want to learn more and more about in future.

In English, I not only study grammar but also get to read many different interesting stories and poems. The lessons contained in the English subject have interesting stories and poems that help me improve my reading skills as well as writing skills. When I read these stories and poems from English, I can relate to the characters and love to learn more about them.

My Favourite Subject Essay 1 (200 words)

General Knowledge is and has always been my favourite subject. It was introduced to us in grade I and since then I have loved it. During grade I, we were taught common general knowledge things such as names of monuments, recognition of sports people and celebrities, recognition of country flags and the likes. I found it very interesting as I got to learn many new and interesting things.

I always looked forward to the general knowledge class in the school. As I grew up and went to higher classes, I did not only study the general knowledge books prescribed by the school but also borrowed such books from the library to expand my knowledge. Looking at my interest in the subject my father decided to subscribe to a monthly general knowledge magazine. I eagerly waited for it every month and finished reading the entire magazine in around three days.

I earn appreciation for my knowledge in this subject at school, home as well as in my friend circle. This inspires me to read and learn all the more. My teachers always recommended my name for GK quiz competitions. I have taken part in many such competitions and have also won many prizes for my school.

My Favourite Subject Essay 2 (300 words)

Introduction.

Ever since I was a pre-primary student, I loved drawing. I just loved drawing different things and colouring them. I always looked forward to the drawing class in school. It was my favourite part of the day. I also indulged in drawing as I came back from school. My parents bought me different types of colours including pencil colours, crayons and water colours.

My Love for Drawing

It was actually my mother who encouraged me to draw and colour. She tried to do so to distract me from watching television as she indulged in household tasks. However, drawing eventually became my favourite subject. I tried to draw different sceneries and other stuff and coloured them diligently. My mother soon enrolled me for drawing classes to hone my skills. I learned to draw a lot of new things in my drawing class. My drawing teacher also taught me different colouring techniques. It was quite fun. I went to the drawing classes for almost two years regularly. Even now that I am in V standard, I still join art and craft classes during my vacations. I have also leaned sketching and glass painting.

Environmental Studies – Another Favourite Subject

As I was promoted to standard I, few new subjects were introduced and environmental study was one of them. Apart from drawing, I also love environmental studies. This is because it gives knowledge about so many things happening around us. We learn about plants, animals, air, water and so much more by way of this subject. The facts learned in this subject can be applied in real life and that is what I like the most about it. We also require drawing diagrams in this subject and this is also one of the reasons it is one of my favourite subjects.

While drawing is my favourite subject, environmental studies comes a close second. Both the subjects are close to my heart and I can never get bored practicing any of these.

My Favourite Subject Essay 3 (400 words)

I am quite picky about a lot of things in life including friends, food and activities. Most people around me find my choices quite different and unique. My choice when it comes to subjects is also quite different. The subject that most students find boring seems quite interesting to me. I just love History. It is my favourite subject.

History – The Most Interesting Subject

People often laugh at me and question me about my choice when I tell them that History is my favourite subject. I, however, wonder why students don’t like such an interesting subject. History takes us to different eras and places and we learn so much from it. It is almost like time travelling for me. It associates us with our roots and gives more meaning to our life. I find it all very fascinating.

I love reading about the different kings and queens and how they managed the common people. Many of the kings in the history of India have been harsh on the commoners while there have also been some who have been very kind to them. They helped raise the standard of living of the people living under them. Besides, the chapters included in the syllabus I try to look for books on different events that took place in the history to learn and explore more about the same.

I have read in depth about how the British invaded our country and the way they began ruling it. These real life stories are far more intriguing than any of the works of fiction.

Another topic that I find interesting in this subject is the position of women in different eras and various dynasties. Women had to face a lot of injustice in the past. They were mostly confined to the household tasks and were not allowed to work outside. Their whole and sole duty was to serve their family by carrying out the household chores. They did not have the right to question or go against the will of the man of the house. Another disturbing fact was that the kings were allowed to marry as many times as they wanted and be in a relationship with all their wives simultaneously while queens were expected to be true to their husbands. It shows that we have come a long way since that time when it comes to gender equality.

I have always been fascinated by historical facts and monuments. Not just the Indian history, I love reading about the history of various countries.

My Favourite Subject Essay 4 (500 words)

My favourite subject is English. I feel that, this is one subject that I can learn effortlessly. In fact, to me studying English does not feel like studying at all, it seems like pursuing a hobby. I also love geography and computer science and look forward to studying them. However, English has always been on the top of my list. I can study the English chapters anytime and anywhere.

Why is English My Favourite Subject?

One of the main reasons why I love English is that I like reading fiction and this subject gives me a chance to read a lot. My mother always told me a bed time story when I was a small kid. She soon brought books for me to read on my own. We made it a habit to read at the bed time before falling asleep. She read some novel or magazine for around half an hour and I read story books. I also developed the habit of reading all the chapters from my text books even before they were done in the class and still do the same. This helps me grasp better when those chapters are done in the class.

I also have flair in writing. It comes naturally to me and English is all about writing essays, articles, letters, long and short answers and other similar pieces. This is another reason why English has always been a hot favourite subject of mine.

Scoring High is a Breeze

I am an average student in my class. I score around 70% marks in my exams on an average. However, when it comes to English, I am the one who scores the highest. I score higher than even the brightest of students in the class. I leave behind the top rank holders too when it comes to this subject. Many of them even come to me to understand the subject better. This makes me proud of my skills in this subject. It is also a motivating factor for me. I try to enhance my skills even further. Be it English grammar or essay/ article writing or the question answers section in the exam – I am equally good in answering all these.

I believe it is all about ones interest. If something interests us, we put our entire mind and soul into it. The results then are bound to be excellent. This is the reason why I am able to score so well in English.

My English Teacher – My Inspiration

My English teachers have also been amazing so far. I am particularly fond of my current English teacher. She has in-depth knowledge about the subject. Besides, teaching us lessons included in the syllabus she also encourages us to read novels and short stories to improve our English. As reading interests me, I often seek her suggestion on which books to read. She is my role model and I aspire to be as good in the subject as her.

I aim to excel in English language and become a proficient writer in the subject as I grow up. I have discussed this plan with my parents and they completely support me in this direction.

My Favourite Subject Essay 5 (600 words)

Our interests keep changing from time to time. Be it our favourite colour, favourite food item, favourite person or favourite game – everything changes as we grow up and favourite subject is no exception. Many students love certain subjects in their primary classes but completely despise those subjects as they begin to get tougher year after year. My experience has been quite similar. I have also had a shift in interest and my favourite subject has changed with time.

Mathematics – My Favourite Subject

I have been a big fan of mathematics right from the time numbers were introduced to us in nursery. While my teacher had taught numbers up to 10, I learned counting up to 50 with the help of my mother. I was so curious and keen on learning this subject that I soon began learning addition. My mother introduced fun ways of learning addition by the use of different things such as spoons, oranges, soft toys. I also learned subtraction using such innovative methods.

Looking at my interest in the subject, my mother soon made me join abacus class. I also accompanied her to the toy shop to get an abacus for myself. I simply loved doing calculations using this ancient method of learning maths. Joining abacus helped me enhance my knowledge about the subject. It laid a strong base for me and I performed extremely well in the subject. I scored high in maths. Most of the times, I got full marks in it.

I practiced the problem sums quite often. Whenever I was asked to study, I opened my mathematics book and began solving the sums. I cleared the maths Olympiad with good score. I was also sent for quite a few inter-school maths competitions. Many of my classmates came to me seek help in the subject. Many still come to me to learn different topics. I help them with the subject whenever they need any kind of assistance.

My Love for French

While I am still good in mathematics and my name is recommended for various mathematics competitions, I personally have grown fond of French ever since I have entered sixth standard. We had an option of choosing between Sanskrit and French as a third subject in grade sixth and I decided to go for French. While my parents insisted that I should take up Sanskrit as my mother is well versed with the subject and could help me with it, I convinced them otherwise. Though, they did not like the idea initially however they realized I took the right decision after I started scoring high in the subject. I was always keen on learning foreign language. It was something new and fresh and thus I was interested in it.

My interest in the subject keeps me glued to it. Besides, since I took it up against the wish of my parents, I learn it with all the more zeal to prove to them that my decision was right. My French teacher is quite helpful and supportive. Her method of teaching is quite innovative. She makes us understand this new language with ease. She has made learning so much fun and interesting. I always look forward to the French class. Me and my friends also try to use the sentences we have learned as we converse with each other. I have also started following French artists and listening to French songs.

French has certainly become my favourite subject and mathematics is my second favourite subject now. I am planning to leave Hindi and take up French when the option to choose between the two is given in the ninth standard. I might even take it up as a main subject during graduation.

Long Essay on my Favourite Subject – Essay 6 (800 Words)

Science is one of my favourite subjects in school; in fact, it is the most favourite subject of mine. Logic makes science interesting and the fact that a principle of science applies to our everyday activities, makes it more interesting. Early morning dew drops over flowers, is science; the flying of birds is science; flowing of water in our taps is science; boiling of rice is a science; the running of electric motor and the occurrence of dawn and dusk, all have a scientific principle working from behind. You might not notice or could be oblivious of its presence, but science is always there in the things you do or witness.

What is Science?

Science is a systematic study of observing, analyzing, recording and finding logical justification for an event or activity. Science provides a logical explanation to every incident from – pricking of skin and feeling of pain to the Landing of space ship on moon.

One of the most interesting facts about science is that, it is in a continuous process of development and there seem to be no end to it. Scientific principles have come a long way from Stone Age to today’s modern world equipped with jets and satellites. This development, however, has been made possible only by humans and their curiosity to explore. Man’s desire to find out reason and improve his surroundings, has led to scientific and technological developments that we see today and the exploration still continues.

Modern science of today as we know is divided into three branches. Firstly, natural science consisting of physics, chemistry and biology; secondly, formal science, consisting of logic and mathematics and thirdly, social sciences consisting of economics, psychology and sociology.

Advantages of Science

The advantages of science are so many that it isn’t able to mention all of them in this article. We will go through some of the basic advantages of science in our daily life. Science has made our living easy, comfortable and secured.

Today we live in houses with all the comforts which have been made possible only due to thousands of years of scientific research and development. Science has made it possible for humans to instantly communicate even when separated by thousands of miles. Today it is possible to travel thousands of miles in just couple of hours; which has been made possible only through science and its development.

All the modern equipments one can’t part with like – mobile phones, computers, laptops, bike etc, have been created applying very basic principles of science and further developing the idea.

Science has also made our life more secure both from natural calamities as well as from diseases. Today we know beforehand when a storm is going to arrive or have the prior information of an oncoming natural calamity. This has been made possible only by advancements in earth and climatic sciences.

Similarly, advancement in medical sciences has led to invention of life saving drugs and vaccines against diseases like cholera, malaria and diarrhea etc. Today life expectancy is increased as never before; thanks to the advancement in medical sciences.

Disadvantages of Science

Despite having numerous advantages, there are also some disadvantages of science. The most common disadvantages of science are over dependence and irresponsible handling. Today we depend so much on our scientific gadgets and technology that it is impossible to live a day without them. Over dependence has made us lethargic and lazy. We resist walking for even few miles and rather prefer to take a cab. Science and technology has invaded our everyday life up to dangerous level and made us victims of lifestyle diseases like diabetes and blood pressure.

You must have heard the phrase “curiosity killed the cat”. It fits extremely well in the scenario of science and human’s curiosity to explore it. History is replete with many scientific experiments which took potentially dangerous turn for ex – project MKUltra one of the CIA’s most shocking programs of all times killing nearly 10000 Americans and the Trinity test, a detonation of first ever nuclear bomb in the desert of New Mexico on 16 th July 1945.

Nazis carried out medical experiments on thousands of prisoners, grossly neglecting human life and dignity. Prisoners were injected with deadly viruses and poisonous substances and were made human guinea pigs. But, despite the fatal consequences man’s quest for experiments and explanations continued.

Science is an absolute necessity and its principles are applied in almost all of our everyday activities and gadgets, devices or instruments we use. Advancement in science is also unavoidable, but care must be taken in order to not cause harm or injury to humans or any other living being. Carelessly and abruptly executed scientific experiments could have fatal consequences and history has hundreds of such incidents to retrospect. Such experiments must be carried under the supervision of a trained scientific or instructor.
