Karmasangsthan Bank, The

Karmasangsthan Bank, The was founded as a public sector specialized bank in 1998. The government launched the bank on 30 June with an approved capital of Tk 3000 million divided into 30 million shares of Tk 100 each under the Karmasangsthan Bank Act. As at the end of 2020 the authorized and paid-up capital of the Karmasangsthan Bank stood at BDT 10000 and 5590 million. Out of the paid capital, the government of Bangladesh paid 75% shares and the rest 25% was paid by public and private sector banks including Janata Bank, Agrani Bank, Sonali Bank, Uttara Bank, Rupali Bank, National Bank, IFIC Bank, BASIC Bank and Islami Bank Bangladesh and a few non-banking financial institutions and insurance companies. The prime adjective of the bank is to alleviate poverty from the country by providing credit facilities to unemployed youths, both male and female, to make them self-employed. The bank provides loan with a lower and simple interest rate on easy term. The bank has now (2019) 248branches throughout the country with its head office in Dhaka. A total of 1446 employees including 734 officers are extending the countrywide services of Karmasangsthan Bank.

The Bank implements its own micro-credit programme to make the unemployed youth self-reliant beside the government’s special programs including the Agro-based Industrial Credit Scheme and the collateral free microcredit programme for the retired and retrenched industrial workers and staff.

Presently, the Bank provides loan for setting up of the following projects: poultry farm, dairy, fish farm, beef fattening and goat-rearing, tailoring and sewing, handicrafts and cottage industries, handloom, pottery, hair-cutting saloon, and laundry, transportation (except two-stroke engines), wooden and steel furniture, boutique, computer, photo-copying, automobile and light engineering workshop, rural transport business (van, rickshaw, boat etc), stationary and departmental store, radio-TV and electrical goods repairing workshop, rural sanitary, pharmacy and nursery. Beside, any profitable, productive and service-oriented economic initiative is given due consideration by the Bank for granting loan.

Karmasangsthan Bank grants a maximum amount of Tk 1.00 million to an individual and Tk 4.00 million to a joint venture. Employee motivation describes an employee‘s intrinsic enthusiasm about and drives to accomplish work. Every employee is motivated about something in his or her life. Motivating employees about work is the combination of fulfilling the employee's needs and expectations from work and workplace factors that enable employee motivation or not. These variables make motivating employees challenging. Information about motivating employees is readily available but it‘s hard to apply the ideas in many workplaces. Too many workplaces still act as if the employee should be grateful to have a job. Managers are on power trips and employee policies and procedures are formulated based on the assumption that you cannot trust employees to do the right thing. Communication is never transparent and there is always a secret message or a hidden agenda. Motivating employees in this work environment is tough, if not impossible. Fortunately, most work environments are not in this extreme. They each have their own set of problems, but managers appreciate that motivating employees will bring positive results for the Organization. This study used a multi-method approach. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected to answer the research questions. Both interviews and questionnaires were used to gather these data and analysis were done using words, graphs, tables and statistics. The one on one interviews and the administration of questionnaires was of an enormous help to the researcher for effective comparison of all responses. After the study it was found that motivation serves as a factor which influenced performance and hence increases productivity. It is therefore important that employees of Phinphonrat Tangtrongjit 12 School are well motivated to ensure continuous good performance in terms of student’s development, competitions and external examination results.

The current research investigates the impact of motivation on the performance of employees: A Case study of banking industry of Pakistan. Data were collected from 200 respondents from Branch Managers to operation Managers five Banks UBL, HBL, ABL, Askari and Alfalah Bank limited. It was revealed that motivation has positive impact on the employee performance. It was further revealed that motivation is the only tool through you will satisfy your team. It was further revealed that most of the branch managers were not happy with long office hours from 9.am-9.pm. Motivation is the only factor that boost up their performance.

It is essential for organisations to pay attention to the well-being of their employees. The organisation should create a workplace that is engaging and motivating, where employees want to stay, grow and contribute their skills, knowledge and expertise. The present research study aims to investigate motivational factors (goal-setting, monetary rewards, recognition programmes and training) that aids in upsurge of employee performance. The study adopted a descriptive research design. The population consists of 130 employees of 30 companies of Nepal. Data was collected using structured questionnaires. Statistical tools such as frequency distribution, mean score, correlation analysis and regression analysis were used to analyse data and were presented using tables. The study shows the feature of motivational factors in higher educational institutions of West Bengal where employee motivation is very important for the growth and development those institutions. The main focus of this research is to find out the effects of motivation on workers performance in Panas Pharmaceutical Pvt. Ltd. An effort have been made to evaluate the existing workers motivational policies in Panas Pharmaceutical with a view to examine the effects of motivation on worker productivity increase and also to identity the variable that are directly or indirectly responsible for workers performance, while assess how motivation come into play in Panas Pharmaceutical Pvt. Ltd. The researchers however, observed that most of the motivation Policies in the company were not adequately function and the little policies that are function were inconsistent and irrelevant for workers needs and desired in Panas Pharmaceutical. In making these findings possible, thirty (30) respondents were presented with questionnaires, out of sixty (60) work force of the company and translated their responses into tables using simple distribution and percentages. Therefore, it has been proved that motivating workers sufficiently with relevance incentives as the only alternative towards workers performance to achieve goal and objectives of the organization. On the basis of these findings, implications of the findings for future study were highlighted.

The objective of the study is to assess the relationship between Employee Motivation and Employee Performance (EP). In this study, the researcher adopted a descriptive research design. The primary data was collected from the managerial and operating level employees at the head office of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) through a structured questionnaire using Five Point Likert Scale. The study used a quantitative research design and applied stratified and judgmental sampling techniques combinedly. The total number of populations from NEA was 566. MOSCOW WIDENS NEW POLICY LINE; Essay, Scored During Rule of Khrushchev, Praised for View of Hard Rural Life

MOSCOW, Dec. 26—A growing reversal of the policies of former Premier Nikita S. Khrushchev, especially in agriculture, was‐extended today to the field of literary criticism.

The literary‐union newspaper Literaturnaya Gazeta published a laudatory review of Yefim Dorosh's essay “Half Rain, Half Sunshine,” which gives what is widely regarded as a realistic depiction of the countryside of central European Russia.

The essay, published last summer in the liberal literary monthly Novy Mir, was violently attacked in the Soviet press just before Mr. Khrushchev's overthrow in October as misrepresenting life in rural areas.

One critique, by L. Lebedev, a collective farm chairman from the Galich area northeast of Moscow, appeared in Selskaya Zhizn (Rural Life), the farm newspaper of the Communist party's Central Committee over whose content Mr. Khrushchev had direct control.

Mr. Lebedev charged Mr. Dorosh with conveying a picture of “prerevolutionary dreariness, despondency, stagnation, and complete hopelessness drifting from every page.”

The farm chairman accused the author of concentrating attention “on an old monastery, an ancient lake, an abandoned grave of some count instead of writing, say, about the new widescreen moviehouse.”

Mr. Lebedev said Mr. Dorosh had misrepresented the cultural level of farm youth and the rural intelligentsia by depicting them as “primitive, uneducated people without interest in literature or the arts.”

Mr. Dorosh had written that the residents of his fictitious country town of Raigorod “read little, went, to be sure, to the movies, but had not been in the regional museum, in the picture gallery, in the theater or at the philharmonic concert.”

Today's review in Literaturnaya Gazeta by Vladimir Voronov, a critic, contended that Mr. Dorosh had performed a useful service by drawing attention to problems that continued to bedevil Soviet agriculture and life in the countryside.

The essay, published while Mr. Khrushchev was still in power, questioned the effectiveness of some reforms inspired by the former Premier and criticized the continuing close supervision of farm production and the imposition of output plans from above.

In an evident allusion to Mr. Khrushchev's style of running Soviet agriculture, Mr. Voronov wrote:

“Dorosh regards the struggle for a growth of the rural economy not as a short‐lived, noisy campaign but as a long, complicated haul.”

Mr. Voronov assailed the farm chairman for having judged the essay simply on the basis that his own area was more prosperous than the one pictured in “Half Rain, Half Sunshine.”

The reviewer said it was not literary criticism to say:

“We live better” and to tell “about a milkmaid who had obtained 800 quarts of milk more from a cow than in the previous year.”

The controversial essay is part of a series of “rural diaries” that Mr. Dorosh, a resident of Moscow, has been writing since 1956 on the basis of periodic visits to an unidentified small town and the surrounding countryside in central Russia.

Karmasangsthan Bank (Employment Bank) is a specialized government owned bank in Bangladesh. The bank was founded to finance the unemployed to set up small enterprises. The bank was founded in 1998, with an approved capital of 3 billion taka. The Karmasangsthan Bank was established as per Karmasangsthan Bank Act No.7 of 1998. The bank was founded to increase income of people in rural areas of Bangladesh.Md Nurul Amin is the chairman of the bank and Shirin Akhtar is the Managing Director of the bank.

An impression has been created by artists and filmmakers that an Indian village is a simple cluster of mud-plastered walls, shaded by trees, overlooking the large expanses of green fields with a few people moving slowly and of course, bullock carts. They portray a village woman with a pot on her head and walking gracefully, her skirt swaying gently. The reality is that a village is the hub of nonstop activity, with their stronger work ethics. Agriculture is tough and requires hard work. The villagers work very hard and are always trying to find innovative methods of growing wheat, rice, and lentils.

The village is important because it is the primary sector of agricultural production for our country. The village is the backbone of Bangladesh economy. It also plays a major role in maintaining the ecological balance of the environment. Villages are mostly covered with trees and plants. They are covered with green grasslands. One can see acres of green fields as far as the eyes could see. They provide shelter to many animals. 

Life in Village

The village life is full of contentment and happiness, as people are not in a hurry like in city life. Village people live a very simple life. Villages are mostly situated far from the hustle and bustle of urban civilization. The beauty of nature can be experienced in a village as it is surrounded by trees, flowers, mountains, streams, and farmlands. There is no pollution in the village and one can feel the freshness in the breeze. The demands of the villagers are not too high but they are still deprived of basic facilities. Clean drinking water, electricity, health center, schools, proper sanitation are a few facilities that are lacking in the villages. Their poverty is always visible in the atmosphere. 

My village is a small abode for happy people.  Here they live in harmony and peace. The village people are very hardworking and thus they must have a good source of upliftment. Like the village’s schools and clinics should be maintained and increased in number. The farmers should be facilitated by helping them to leverage their sales, make them notified about the modern techniques used in farming, and give them compensation and knowledge of the true market price of their crops. Thus, I would request governmental authorities to come forward and uplift the medical, educational, and farming facilities in the village.

Cities in Bangladesh are faced with the challenges of rapid population increase characterized by crises such as lack of economic dynamism, governance failure, severe infrastructure and service deficiencies, inadequate land administration, massive slums and social breakdown. However, urban centers continue to grow, despite the severity of these obstacles. As a result, urban areas in Bangladesh have exceptionally high population density, but relatively low economic density. High population density, combined with rapid urbanization, implies a large and fast-growing urban population to manage. Dhaka city, the largest urban conurbation in Bangladesh, is one of the most densely populated urban areas in the world. However, the economic density of Bangladesh’s urban areas (GDP or value-added per square km) is relatively low from an international perspective. Economic activity is concentrated in Dhaka and Chittagong. About 9% of the Bangladesh population lives in the Dhaka metropolitan area, which contributes to 36% of the country’s GDP. An additional 11% of the Bangladesh GDP is generated by Chittagong, the second-largest city and home to 3% of the population. The economic gap between Dhaka and Chittagong compared to other medium  and small-size cities is large and widening.

Bangladesh needs to build an urban space that is capable of innovating, is better connected and more livable in order to make cities competitive. Bangladesh’s urban space is falling behind in all three of these drivers of competitiveness. The Dhaka metro area needs to evolve into a diversified economy with skilled human resources and an innovation capacity fueled by the cross-fertilization of ideas typical of large metropolitan areas. Dhaka metro area also needs to be better connected internally and with its peri-urban areas, and both Dhaka and Chittagong have to strengthen their connection to the global economy. Improved connectivity within Bangladesh’s system of cities is also important for productivity and export competitiveness. The development of an economically dynamic urban space, in particular in the Dhaka metro region, has occurred at the expense of livability. The livability of the urban space will become an even more binding constraint to sustained growth as Bangladesh transitions to a new business model based on higher-value industries and services, which need a highly skilled and internationally mobile workforce. This  is a tall order for Bangladesh, but planning needs to start today for Bangladesh’s cities to become more competitive in future.

Urbanization have crucial role to play in the economic development of Bangladesh. The circumstances under which population in Dhaka and Chittagong are growing without proportionate infrastructural development will begin to wipe out most of the gains associated with urbanization. That is, relative high levels of urbanization may not be sufficient to ensure higher levels of economic welfare in Bangladesh. This has happened in Latin America with levels of urbanization, above 80%, yet with real per capita incomes about a third that of developed nations. It could happen in Bangladesh as well unless the urban managers rise from their prolonged slumber.
