American Broadcasting Company has done it again, making those of us who love watching TV be glued to our screen when this program appears on our screens. You might be wondering, what is this program that has made so many people wag their tongues whenever they speak of their best TV programs? Stop wondering because the answer is LOST. This program is an American Drama series that premiered on September 8th 2004. Based on an original screenplay entitled nowhere by Lieber Jeffery, this six series piece is a master piece of Damon Lindelof and J.J. Abrams. It is saddening for me that this magnificent masterpiece will end after the sixth and final season which premiered on February 2, 2010.

This series recaps the past, present and future lives of the survivors of a passenger plane bound for Los Angeles from Sydney. The plane named Oceanic Flight 815 tears apart in mid-air forcing it to crash on a pacific Island. It also recaps the lives of people who are already living in the island at the time of the plane crash.  Each episode has a standard storyline on the present and future lives of the characters. The numerous clip shows that recap the previous episodes makes one want to find more about what is going to happen at later stages of the drama.

Through my observation, the shooting of this piece must have cost the directors and casts a whopping amount of money. The background and the sound tracks are so captivating to the viewers; grab a copy of this powerful drama which can be found in DVDs from your nearest movie library. I guarantee that you will enjoy this drama because it has lots of charisma and excitement. However, I am going to give you an insight into this play before you go out there and grab a copy of your own.

The survivors get to meet other people who have either faced the same fate as them or are the natives of the island. Through flash back and flash forwards, the viewers have the chance of knowing the past and the future of the many characters who cast in this drama. This drama highlights the theme of survival for the fittest; every character has to demonstrate an inner strength none of them ever knew he/she had.  The island is filled with many secrets that the characters have to discover over time, first off, the character discover a mysterious smoke that keeps on appearing to individuals at different times throughout the drama.  Nobody knows the significance of this smoke in the island until later on when they interact with people from the other side of the island. This smoke has its roots to a mysterious man named Jacob. This man is a spirit that appears in the form of a smoke. His mission is to protect the inhabitants of this strange island and do away with those people who try to do harm to the island.

The survivors are also set to task of tracing and killing polar bears that are out to kill and maul any of them. These grizzly bears have been living in this island for many years, whenever they encounter a human being; they kill him/her instantly. The mysterious island was surrounded with an ocean, thus, finding clean water was a problem. However, the survivors eventually discover a hidden location where fresh, cold water is running. After living in the island for some days, the Oceanic flight 815 survivors discover signs that showed that the island had been explored by people, who had reached it before them. The  discovery of the ruins of a 19th century ship named The Black Rock, the remains of an ancient statue and the banker belonging to the Dharma Initiative were enough evidence that showed that this island  was discovered long before they crashed into it.

I can compare this presentation to a tree; the tree will represent the entire plot, its branches represent the sub plots while the leaves and twigs represent the other story lines. The directors of this drama have brilliant minds that always blow the minds of the audience each time a new episode is released. The characters have blended well with the setting of this drama; the airplane had 324 passengers on board before the crash. From the 324 passenger on board only 71 survive, after the plane crashed, these survivors are the ones who create the characters of this movie. The first season of the drama had 5 outstanding casts played by the following characters; Mathew Fox plays Jack Foster, a brilliant spinal surgeon. In his former life, Jack has to deal with personal issues affecting his father before he dies while on a trip to Australia. While taking his father’s body from Australia to America, hell breaks loose after the plane crashes in the mysterious island.

After the plane crash, many survivors come off the wrecks of the plane wounded; therefore, medical attention is needed. Jack fits remarkably well in this task because of his expertise as a doctor; he uses his skills to administer first aid to the survivors. Later on, Jack takes on the unofficial role of the leader to the survivors; this is because other survivors found it easy to bond with him. Coincidentally, jack falls in love with one of the survivors called Kate Austen played by Evangeline Lilly. This woman is a fugitive who is on the run after killing a man she thought was her step father. This man was constantly abusing Kate’s mother and she was not comfortable with this, unknown to her, she had killed her biological father. In this drama, Kate develops feelings for both jack and another survivor called Sawyer. Of all the women who survived, Kate strikes out as a mother figure to the rest of the survivors.

Sayid Jarrah, played by Naveen Andrews is an ex-soldier, who used to torture prisoners; he is also an accomplished electrician who could fix anything. In this drama, this character uses his expertise to salvage the other survivors. He uses his ego as torturer to solicit for information from a fellow survivor. He therefore, has to leave the camp after this act because he had sworn never to torture another person ever again. Through Jarrah, the survivors try to leave the island but this plot fails after they discover the signal they were tracking was a recorded signal and had no significance.

The most lovable character in this drama is Hugo Rayes played by Jorge Garcia; he is a dependable team player who has the interests of all the survivors at heart. In his previous life, Hugo had won enormous sums of money with the synonymous number of the mysterious island. The disaster struck when he was heading home, back from Australia, where he had gone to pay a visit to a woman whose husband had used the synonymous number. According to Hugo, the winning number is cursed and their presence brings a sour taste into his mouth. James Sawyer, played by Josh Holloway is another character that is fascinating to watch, at a tender age of 8, Sawyer lost his parents. He adopted this title from a man who had caused the death of his parents and used it to con his victim’s money. During one of his endeavors of conning unknowing citizens off their hard earned money, Sawyer is arrested and deported back to the US from Australia. It was during this trip that his flight crashed to the mysterious Island. Throughout the drama, Sawyer‘s cocky and stubborn attitudes are evident. He tries to create tension between Jack and Kate; however, this trick goes against him as other survivors including Jack and Kate isolate from him. Other characters have also played an integral part in this drama to make it one of the best dramas I have ever seen.

In conclusion, I want to encourage those of you who enjoy watching movies to go and have a copy of this piece because it can be found in DVDs in movie stores near you. This captivating drama series is one of the best movies I have ever watched, try and experience the captivating themes and settings highlighted in this drama. If you do so, I am sure that many of you will be joining me every evening to watch this breathtaking drama.

Advertising on Television: Everything You Need to Know About the TV Medium

Jump to a section…

Wondering if advertising on television is the right fit for your brand? Explore the advantages and disadvantages and learn how to make effective TV ads.

Find out where and how to build a successful TV ad campaign

Advertising on television is one of the most popular ways to spread a brand’s message, but don’t let its ubiquity fool you: There are more ways to reach households on the home’s central screen now than ever before. Finding the right fit, whether via big-budget campaigns splashed across linear TV schedules or carefully crafted ads purpose-built to drive conversion on CTV, could make a massive difference to your success with TV commercials.

Here’s everything you need to know about advertising on television to get started, and where to learn even more.

Big Advantages of Advertising on Television

Adding TV to your media mix is a critical step for any brand that wants access to a broad, deep, and engaged audience pool. Building persuasive TV commercials has become something of an art form since the first one aired during a baseball game in 1941, and the medium has become far more potent and varied since then — especially with connected TV advertising spend projected to reach $40.9 billion by 2027.

Here are three major advantages TV commercials have over other types of advertising:

Wider reach: The national audience for television is huge, and it remains the primary mode of entertainment for a large majority of adults in the U.S. Nearly half of U.S. households have linear TV subscriptions, while more than nine in 10 of them are reachable via connected TV advertising.

Dialed-in demographics: Traditional demographic details for linear TV networks give advertisers a good idea of who their message may reach. Over-the-top (OTT) advertising goes a step further with performance marketing tools and viewer insight that allows hyper-specific targeting, even down to viewers’ ZIP codes.

Better brand awareness: Our research indicates that 46% of viewers say TV ads are the most memorable type of advertising they encounter — and they have a “halo effect” that uplifts other forms of advertising, making them a vital part of your overall media mix.

These benefits and more make advertising on television one of the best approaches for any brand looking to expand its audience. If you’d like to learn more about what makes connected TV advertising a particularly potent tool, download our free guide, The CTV Advertising Playbook .

The Basics of Cable TV Advertising

While cable TV advertising has traditionally been one of the most potent means of sharing your brand, challengers in the CTV space are presenting new and potentially more cost-effective options. Still, crafting and placing the right cable TV commercials could be a worthwhile investment for your brand.

Cable TV ads are generally broken down into two categories:

Spot advertisements, which are typically cheaper and region-specific, and air on any channel the cable provider offers.

Network advertisements, which are more expensive but can target customers around the country, and are negotiated with individual channels.

Cable TV advertising is relatively inexpensive compared to broadcast advertising — compare the cost of a Sunday Night Football ad which could easily eclipse $800,000 to cable spots that can be as cheap as $5 to $500 . But we’ll get into more specifics on the cost of advertising on television, however you choose to do it, in a moment.

Learn more in our full guide, “ Cable TV Advertising: Benefits, Costs, Comparisons, and More. ”

The Cost of TV Advertising

Given the increasing prominence of OTT and connected TV advertising, marketers looking into advertising on television should be well-acquainted with their costs compared to traditional linear TV. Here’s what you need to know to make the price of placing TV commercials a well-justified expense for your brand.

Linear TV’s greatest strength is its massive reach, with an unparalleled capacity to deliver ads to audiences around the US across a range of demographics. OTT and CTV’s greatest strength is their power to target ads in a much more precise and cost-effective manner. OTT and CTV ads can also be used to extend the reach of linear TV campaigns, as well as search and social advertising.

Advertisers laid out nearly $67 billion on TV advertising in 2022 , with the median price for AdAge-tracked shows coming in just north of $80,000. In 2019, cable TV upfront advertising came to an average cost per mille (CPM) of $19.45 , while network TV upfront advertising that year had a CPM of $36 . Meanwhile, OTT and CTV advertising spending reached just under $27 billion in 2022 , with the average CPM for CTV ranging from $35 to $65.

Get a broader look at potential expenses in our article, “ TV Advertising Cost: Unpacking Linear, CTV, and OTT Pricing. ”

Benefits and Drawbacks of Local TV Advertising

While the term “TV commercials” often brings to mind the sort of splashy, expensive advertisements you might see during major sporting events, focusing your efforts on local TV may yield more cost-effective results for your brand. Here are some of the pros and cons of advertising on television locally:

Pros of Local TV Advertising

  • Wide local reach: Depending on your chosen area, local linear TV ads may still provide a huge number of potential exposures. For instance, advertising in San Francisco will be more expensive than other regions, but it will still put your ad in front of millions while costing less than a national ad.
  • More precise targeting: Demographic data tied to local station viewership will make it easier to find more relevant audiences for your brand, rather than the broad metrics available at the national linear level.
  • Affordability: Running a 30-second ad on a national network could easily cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, whereas a medium-sized local market may have a CPM of $15 to $25 .

Cons of Local TV Advertising

Lack of flexibility: The terms of a TV advertising campaign are typically set as soon as it begins, with little room for optimization or course correction. If any major changes are required mid-campaign, your brand may be in for a major headache.

Unclear attribution: It can be difficult to track a customer from a local TV ad to purchase, which makes measuring campaign success more of a challenge than in some other mediums.

Suboptimal metrics: While it’s easier to find definitive performance metrics for local TV than on national TV, they are still not as detailed or instantaneous as in CTV and OTT video.

Find more benefits, drawbacks, and other key information to consider in “ Local TV Advertising: The Complete Guide. ”

How to Compare TV and Radio Advertising

The first radio advertisement aired more than a century ago for real estate development in New York City . Since then, radio has stood as a stalwart of advertising in the US, persisting even after the emergence of television as Americans continued to tune in during commutes, road trips, and more. Now evolving consumer behaviors mean the boundaries behind those formerly well-defined domains are blurrier than ever before.

While TV ads can capture audiences with attention-grabbing effects and instantly recognizable celebrities, radio ads only have listeners’ senses of hearing to target. That said, the digital age means consumers are likely to experience either type of ad while multitasking on their phones or other personal devices. Keeping ads simple yet creative is one way to help cut through the noise, whether audio or visual.

Building radio into your media mix is an important avenue for diversification, especially since the common run-of-schedule method of ad placements means you can save costs at the expense of controlling exactly when your ad will play. Production costs are an even greater point of differentiation, with radio advertisements generally being much cheaper and faster to create than TV ads of similar quality.

Complete your research with our guide, “ TV vs. Radio Advertising: A Comparison for the Digital Age .”

The Growing Role of Addressable TV

Rather than standing as its own means of watching television like linear TV or CTV, addressable TV is a powerful advertising methodology that can be used in conjunction with OTT viewing. It’s based on the principle that not everyone watching the same show will have the same interests, and it uses targeting capabilities and viewer data that is inaccessible on linear TV to serve better-tailored advertisements.

But how do you know if addressable TV campaigns are successful? Here are three key performance indicators to keep in mind:

Reach and frequency: Reaching a higher number of unique viewers is one of the most fundamental goals for ad campaigns — however, the next point is what makes it truly valuable.

Conversion rate: The percentage of viewers who, having seen the ad, take the desired action (making a purchase, signing up for a free trial, and so on) within a particular period.

  • Return on ad spend (ROAS): By dividing the revenue generated from the ad campaign by the total ad spend, you can determine how much of an impact your TV commercials made on your bottom line.

Learn more about how to make the most of this ad methodology in our primer, “ What Is Addressable TV?”

How TV Measurement Works

The most valuable spots for advertising on television typically go alongside the most popular programs, since they stand the best chance of getting a brand’s message in front of the most people possible. But how do we know which TV programs are the most popular? That’s where TV measurement comes in.

One of the pioneers in the field of TV measurement was Nielsen, which initially sent viewer diaries and special screen-capturing devices called Audimeters to a representative sample of U.S. households. While Nielsen’s methods have evolved to keep up with the times, the company has recently suffered some blows to its reputation as the last word in linear TV measurement.

One of the most promising modern methods of TV measurement is automatic content recognition (ACR), which tracks what viewers are watching, then transmits that data to TV and set-top box manufacturers. When implemented with consumer privacy in mind , ACR can be an unparalleled measurement source of data for advertisers and broadcasters alike.

Get the full introduction in “ TV Measurement: Past, Present, and Future. ”

I make sure not to miss it by setting a reminder on my Tata Sky set-top box. Sometimes, I even finish my homework early so that nothing comes in the way of my favourite program. The feeling of watching “Dino Discovery” is like going on a thrilling adventure. The dinosaurs seem so real, and I learn new things each time.

If, by chance, I miss an episode, I feel a bit sad. But then I catch up online or ask my friends about it. Watching “Dino Discovery” makes me happy, and I look forward to it every week!

Essay on Television for Students and Children

500+ words essay on television.

Television is one of the most popular devices that are used for entertainment all over the world. It has become quite common nowadays and almost every household has one television set at their place. In the beginning, we see how it was referred to as the ‘idiot box.’ This was mostly so because back in those days, it was all about entertainment. It did not have that many informative channels as it does now.

Essay on Television

Moreover, with this invention, the craze attracted many people to spend all their time watching TV. People started considering it harmful as it attracted the kids the most. In other words, kids spent most of their time watching television and not studying. However, as times passed, the channels of television changed. More and more channels were broadcasted with different specialties. Thus, it gave us knowledge too along with entertainment.

Benefits of Watching Television

The invention of television gave us various benefits. It was helpful in providing the common man with a cheap mode of entertainment. As they are very affordable, everyone can now own television and get access to entertainment.

In addition, it keeps us updated on the latest happenings of the world. It is now possible to get news from the other corner of the world. Similarly, television also offers educational programs that enhance our knowledge about science and wildlife and more.

Moreover, television also motivates individuals to develop skills. They also have various programs showing speeches of motivational speakers. This pushes people to do better. You can also say that television widens the exposure we get. It increases our knowledge about several sports, national events and more.

While television comes with a lot of benefits, it also has a negative side. Television is corrupting the mind of the youth and we will further discuss how.

Additionally, it also makes people addict. People get addicted to their TV’s and avoid social interaction. This impacts their social life as they spend their time in their rooms all alone. This addiction also makes them vulnerable and they take their programs too seriously.

The most dangerous of all is the fake information that circulates on news channels and more. Many media channels are now only promoting the propaganda of the governments and misinforming citizens. This makes causes a lot of division within the otherwise peaceful community of our country.

Thus, it is extremely important to keep the TV watching in check. Parents must limit the time of their children watching TV and encouraging them to indulge in outdoor games. As for the parents, we should not believe everything on the TV to be true. We must be the better judge of the situation and act wisely without any influence.

My Favorite TV Channel Essay, Article, Paragraph, IELTS Que Card

My favorite tv channel essay, article, paragraph, ielts que card.

My Favorite TV Channel : The television is a part and parcel of a lot of households. As a result, watching television is a tradition of today’s modern society. It is a favorite entertainment source for many people, cutting across the ethnicity, creed, gender and age. I have to admit that I too take pleasure in “sticking” to the TV as mother repeatedly laments. Since I watch TV entire day long, I don’t blame mum. However, whenever I watch my favorite TV channel she doesn’t grumble. In fact, she often sits with me to watch it, the ‘ National Geographic Channel ’.

Favorite tv channel

What The Channel Broadcasting ?

The National Geographic is a well-acknowledged documentary channel, focusing essentially on the ever-altering world, on Mother Earth and on environment and people and creatures that color it with. Just the push of a switch and a button and the entire new world is brought before me, for me to recognize its beauty and wonders. Personally, I am often intimidated and flabbergasted with them.

Why Do You Like The Channel as Your Favorite TV Channel ?

I like this channel because it is very instructive and educational. It is a ‘window to the world’. By watching it, I can ‘tour’, ‘survey’ and ‘discover’ all parts of the world. I have trekked up the uppermost peak and subjugated Mt. Everest. I have jumped down the bottomless trenches. I have walked throughout the backwoods and been in the middle of the wild monsters, big and small. Thus, this channel has helped to spread out my horizon and develop my knowledge and experience. I can proudly declare I am no more a ‘frog in the well’.

I also enjoy watching the National Geographic because it is pleasurable, fascinating and stimulating. I never anticipated that such an enlightening channel can be enjoyable as well. I get an option to enjoy the kaleidoscope of sights, sounds and colors of the world and its diverse people, all in the ease of my own home.

In accumulation to that, this channel is of very elevated quality and it is created by a group of experts, all are authoritarians in their own field of interest. The photographic recording is exceptionally awe-inspiring and stimulating. Moreover, the narration is very precise, informative, dramatic and expressive. Hence, I have never felt impatient, sidetracked or jaded watching this channel.

How Your Favourite TV Channel Helps You ?

The National Geographic is my desired tv channel as it has helped me to ‘develop’ and ‘grow’. I have watched it since I was a seven-year-old and an innocent child. Now, I am more responsive and conscious of the world and Mother Earth now. I learned to admire the Mother Earth and its exquisiteness and wonders. I am more disturbed about the safeguarding and preservation of the world not only now but also for posterity. In short, the National Geographic has rehabilitated me into a more responsible citizen of the world and a caretaker of Mother Earth.

It is a stirring and my favorite TV channel and I will not pause to recommend it to others so that they too have a prospect to respect startling moments and be grateful and care for the one and only world we live in.

Describe Your Favorite Advertisement - Why Do You Like It?

Speaking Test | Part 2 | IELTS Cue Card

Here are some top tips for answering this speaking topic question, describe your favorite advertisement (or favourite advertisement) .

  • First, take a few seconds to think about the advertisement and what you like about it.
  • Then, make some brief notes about what you want to say.
  • Next, give a brief overview of the advertisement, including what it is for and how it is presented.
  • Finally, focus on one or two key aspects that you like, and explain why you find them effective.

By following these tips, you will be able to give a confident and detailed answer that will impress the examiner.

Describe Your Favorite Advertisement

  • What was it was advertising?
  • Where did you see it?
  • What was in it?

Sample Answer | My Favorite Advertisement

My favorite advertisement was the Microsoft advertisements for women inventors, well it wasn’t actually advertising women inventors – but it was about all the things that women have invented over the years.

It wasn’t really focused on any one Microsoft product; it was just a branded advert for Microsoft – no particular product.

I saw it on YouTube one day while I was watching something else and it caught my attention – simply because rather than the usual advertisement trying to sell you something or telling you how great a company is.

This ad was designed to target young girls and simply make them think about what is possible, and how our perceptions can sometimes be incorrect about certain things.

I thought it was a good advertisement because it showed young girls talking about inventing things and how they were always taught at school that men were the main inventors.

But then the ad goes on to show all the things that women have invented, such as windshield wipers, the first computer algorithm, and lots of other things you would probably never have guessed were invented by women.

If I remember correctly, there were more similar ads produced to celebrate the International Women’s day, and such ads seemed appropriate because the message was all about empowering young girls to realize that they too could invent something important – or something which would change the lives of everybody.

I guess you would call them inspirational ads and most of the biggest brands produce them frequently. I think they’re much more captivating than a lot of other commercial advertising which is put out on TV and other media channels.

Follow-up question

In general, do you like seeing advertisments like that for products?

As I said describiing my favorite advertisement , that’s the type of ad I prefer – something different – with a positive message and not just a conventional product ad pushing the latest model or version of a product.

What is your favorite advertisement?

Sample Answer

There are so many advertisements out there, but my all-time favorite is the famous "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" commercial for Coca-Cola. It's so moving and inspirational, and the background music captures the spirit of brotherhood and unity. Plus, I love Coke, so that doesn't hurt either!

Why do you like it?

I just love this ad. It's incredibly inspirational and about people accepting each other - something I can get behind! Plus, it features one of the most classic songs ever, which is always a plus. And, um, yeah, I guess I love Coke, too! It doesn't matter whether you like Coke or not because it as a creative ad that transcends the product itself.

Can you describe an advertisement you really liked?

I guess my favorite advertisement would be the ad for Pringles because it's an unusual way of showing someone that you think they're awesome.

Where did this advertisement appear (magazine, television, internet)?

This ad appeared in magazines, I believe. It was probably on TV too.

How old were you when you saw this advertisement?

I don't know exactly when I first saw this ad, but I guess I would've been about 11 -12 years old.

How did the advertisement make you feel?

It made me feel like I should be more confident in myself and that there is nothing wrong with being confident either, even if it's over the top. It made me laugh at how stupid Tony was but also made me think about people close to me who are awesome, so I guess it makes you smile, but thinking.

Why did this advertisement impact you positively or negatively?

I thought it was funny, so it impacted me positively. But it wasn't a profound impact - it was just funny! Maybe if someone younger saw it, they wouldn't get what he's doing, so they may have a negative reaction because of that. Maybe their mom could explain it to them, though, haha!

Do you remember seeing any other similar advertisements?

No, not that I recall .

What do you think about the advertisement's message?

The end made me laugh at how stupid Tony was but also made me think about people close to me who are awesome, so I guess it makes you smile, but thinking.

Do you think the advertising campaign successfully delivered its message to its target market?

Yes, definitely. It's funny enough where everyone can enjoy it, and it's a simple message that anyone can understand and apply to their daily lives.

How do you think this ad would compare to other ads in the same category?

It's different from any other that I've seen, and it's also one of my favorites.

What is your reaction when you see a commercial like this? Do you typically choose to purchase products like these or avoid them?

I don't buy something just because of an ad - but if I was interested in that product or something similar, I probably would buy it. I don't think many people purchase stuff just because they see an advert - they usually buy things they need or want.

Related Questions & Sample Answers

Why do you think some people hate advertisements.

I don't know about hating advertisements but some people dislike advertisements because they feel like they are being bombarded with them constantly. They may also find them annoying and disruptive to their daily activities. Others may dislike advertisements because they can be misleading or manipulative, trying to persuade people into buying products or services they don't really need. This can create a sense of distrust towards companies and brands.

How effective do you think online advertising is for companies? Why?

Online advertising can be very effective for companies since it allows them to reach a larger audience and target specific demographics. With the rise of social media and digital marketing, companies now have more ways to promote their products or services online. This type of advertising also offers real-time data and analytics, allowing companies to track the success of their campaigns and make necessary adjustments.

Why do you think people generally have a negative view towards advertisements, especially regarding what they deem 'useless advertisements'?

To start with, I believe people often dislike advertisements because they can be intrusive and disrupt the viewing experience. For instance, when you're watching a fascinating TV show or navigating the internet, unwanted ads popping up can be quite bothersome. Making people watch useless advertisements during a commercial break on TV is often why they generate a negative view.

Have you noticed any change in the way advertisements are presented online versus on TV? Which medium do you think is more effective for engaging with the audience?

When comparing internet advertisements to TV advertisements, I've noticed that online ads tend to be more targeted based on user behavior and preferences. This customization can make them more engaging than a TV advertisement, as they're more likely to align with one's interests. That said, this targeting leads to concerns about privacy and overexposure to watching advertisements, contributing to what many call 'too much advertising.' In my opinion, although internet ads can be more personalized and engaging, TV ads have a broader reach, making them effective in their own right.

Can you share an example of a great online advertisement that caught your attention? What made it stand out for you?

A great online advertisement that comes to mind is one that used interactive technology to allow users to participate virtually. It stood out because it was more of an immersive experience than a traditional ad, making it not only memorable but also enjoyable. Such creativity is what I think makes for great online advertisements as opposed to those that are simply trying to sell something without adding any value to the viewer's experience.

Considering the concerns about inappropriate adverts, what measures do you think should be taken to ensure ads are suitable for all audiences?

Regarding inappropriate ads and ensuring suitability for all audiences, I believe more stringent regulations and review processes should be in place. For instance, platforms could implement better age verification systems and give users more control over the types of ads they see. Some parents complain about their children watching several advertisements because they consider them to be inappropriate. Also, advertisers should be held accountable for the content of their ads to ensure they adhere to standards of decency and appropriateness.

What's your favorite advertisement ?

English Summary

100 Words Essay On My Favourite TV Program In English

My favourite tv program would hands down be Oggy and the Cockroaches. Yes, the cartoon!

Watching Oggy go about his everyday life and being his sweet, charming self fills my heart with so much happiness! Oggy with his love Olly– Olivia– is again so cute!

I have mixed feelings about the cockroaches… Some days I like them. But must often, I despise them for tormenting poor Oggy. At such times, Jack and his witty ideas are the best!

To me, Oggy and the Cockroaches is a show that is not just a special childhood memory but by favourite program in the present!

Television Influence on People Essay

Interpersonal relationships depend on a variety of internal and external factors, and television remains one of the most controversial issues in human life. On the one hand, according to Martin and Jacobus (2019), social interactions offered on TV are predictable and rather slick, with no solid room for experimentation and imagination. On the other hand, access to television programs has already become a meaningful international movement (Martin & Jacobus, 2019). It means that information may be displayed on TV and provoke certain emotions and behaviors. People want to and can watch as many shows and episodes as possible to cover their personal needs and emotional satisfaction. They compare experiences, analyze environments, and develop discussions to demonstrate what they learn from the offered material. For example, high social expectations and new perspectives on obligations depicted on TV affect adolescents and adults. In this essay, analyzing the course reading and an interview with a friend allows learning that despite a common context and technical advancement, television has a great impact on people.

Despite the intention to control the impact of TV on children, it is hard for parents to ensure that proper shows and episodes are chosen for watching. During this interview, my friend recognized two shows that determined her childhood and adolescence – Friends (NBC, 1994-2004) and Beverly Hills 90210 (CBS, 1990-2000). At that moment, watching the chosen series was related to multiple positive emotions because the authors depicted the nature of teenage and adult relationships and the quality of life that American citizens could have (Martin & Jacobus, 2019). For example, in Beverly Hills , school and college education were described, with a special evaluation of current problems of drug abuse, sexual violence, bullying, and friendship. In Friends , attention was paid to the essence of friendship and situations when certain decisions should be made and preferences should be established. It was learned that even the most intelligent and careful people could make mistakes and needed to analyze their behaviors in particular contexts. Each show seriously impacted the interviewee’s behavior and acceptance of reality. Those stories prepared adolescents for their grown-up lives where racial, gender, and age inequality existed and put various restrictions on an individual’s activities.

The ways of making TV shows have changed with time, including various technological and social aspects, but their impact on people stays the same. Today, there is no need to wait for a particular time but use the Internet and watch favorite shows anytime. The interviewee shared her interest in such series as Grey’s Anatomy (ABC, 2005 – ) and Gossip Girl (CW, 2007-2012). Almost every episode brought some new experiences and emotions to her life because the characters lived their lives, solved problems, and achieved their goals. Martin and Jacobus (2019) notice that many modern episodes are self-contained, and it does not take much preparation or explanation in advance. Therefore, the number of viewers changes regularly, and some people demonstrate their interest or choose other shows. My friend admires Grey’s Anatomy due to its surgical themes and how health care has been recently improved. Gossip Girl is a show about modern teenagers, their problems, and their dreams. It reveals what young people want, what steps they are ready to take, and how family business affects children’s future. Instead of inspiration or motivation, these series provoke critical thinking and evaluation.

Addressing the chosen TV shows and learning the material from the textbook, it has become evident that television’s impact cannot be ignored. Despite the year of production and distribution, the main goal of any product is to entertain people and gain commercial benefits (Martin & Jacobus, 2019). However, modern researchers and sociologists admit that new programs are characterized by biased or sensationalist judgments that discourage social engagement and misinform people (Rothwell, 2019). Therefore, it is important to be cautious and accept the offered material for advertising purposes. Marked influence continues to grow and promote the American style of life in many countries abroad. Video art has become a serious competitor to commercial television, offering experimental and radical ideas to please the audience (Martin & Jacobus, 2019). This sphere of art has not been properly examined yet, but its abilities are unpredictable and captivating. Although some people are confident in the television industry, it is wrong to neglect the possibility of improvement but gain a better meaning. Compared to the adolescent period, when viewers admire opportunities and discover new sources of inspiration, adulthood makes them more attentive to the significant details.

Communication with my friend and the evaluation of old and new TV shows and video art ideas turn out to be a valuable experience in understanding how people should treat television. Different in quality and distribution periods, most series are similar in their context and purposes. They aim to describe human lives, address social, economic, and political problems, and show how certain decisions lead to certain outcomes. However, even if the episodes vary, their impact on people is definite – watching, learning, and following the examples. Images and sounds have been improved regardless of the viewer’s readiness or knowledge levels. Still, how individuals accept these stories has nothing to do with technology but personal judgments and attitudes toward society.

My Opinion about Advertising

essay on my favourite tv advertisement

Writing: Write your opinion about advertising

Adverts are everywhere. There are hoardings in the streets, leaftles in your letter box, jingles on the radio, commercials on the TV, brochures in shops, glossy ads in magazines, personal ads in newspapers, handwritten ads on the supermarket wall and famous faces on the sides of buses. Advertising is a huge industry that uses emotions, logic, snobbery, beauty, music, truth and lies to make you spend your money.

Of course adverts influence us. If they didn’t the companies wouldn’t spend so much money on them. Just think of the power of a good slogan. Something, like “Just Do It” fixes a brand name in people’s minds and so that’s the brand they choose in the shops.

Avderts have the subconscious effect. When you’re in the supermarket and you pick a product off the shelf, it’s probably because you’ve heard of the brand name or seen the logo, and you feel you can trust it. That’s effect of advertising.

As far as I am concerned, I don’t like a lot of adverts on TV. I think, adverts influence my choice but I always compare the prices to get the best deal and save money.

In conclusion, I must say that development of our society is impossible without adverts.

In my opinion, adverts influence me, but not always in a positive way. I don’t like adverts on TV and on the radio, because I think that there are too manh of them. Adverts are always interrupting films and interesting shows and that is very irritating and annoying. Very often ads are full of lies, beautiful pictures, there is nothing original, everything is similar. The advertising is too beautiful to seem true. As for me, I always choose that seems to me better, I always compare prices and try to save money.

' src=

Nowadays, adverts are everywhere. Every day millions of people see hoardings, leaflets, brochures and glossy ads. For me the most annoying are commercials on TV and YouTube. But on the other hand, it’s a huge business and a quick way to find customers or fans. Adverts can influence us, and we should filter the information.

' src=

In my opinion, advertising is a good tool to promote your brand, business, etc. The whole teams work to create an eye-catching picture, and deep meaning slogan. Companies pay money to famous models to make photos with cosmetics and wearing their clothes, or in hotels in order to attract people’s attention. Advertising has become popular as a future career choice to be taught at universities. Millions of students choose career in advertising industry to have well-paid jobs in the future. I think, you should be very creative and motivated to make unusual ads. Some people can do this in a skilful and professional way to make their advertisements unforgettable. I appreciate professionalism but sometimes watching commercials or listening to jingles, I feel annoyed and want to skip them. What is really annoying me – are ads on YouTube. I love listening to music on this platform, and I hate, when a loud ad suddenly pops up on my screen. TV is not so popular now as it has been before, so commercials look old and boring. But I hope new trends will get into television and will change the present situation!
