Best Slideshow Apps in 2024 (iPhone, Android & Desktop)

Explore a curated selection of paid and free slideshow apps for your smartphone to transform your photos and videos into captivating presentations.

Mobile Apps | Software | By Stephan Jukic

This guide will take you through the best slideshow apps for smartphones (and more).

There’s nothing better than getting creative with the photos and videos you’ve taken and sharing the results with friends and family.

Of course, making these kinds of slideshows can have professional uses too and help you succeed in your job.

While the native software on both iPhone and Android can comfortably make slideshows (Videos in Photos on iPhone or Google Photos on Android), they aren’t as feature-rich as a dedicated slideshow maker.

The photo slideshow apps below have added features and were chosen based on their ease of use, functionality, and, honestly, how much fun they are to use.

Table of Contents

What is the Best Slideshow App for Smartphones in 2024?

Inshot (best photo slideshow app overall).

Instagram's new video editor is now available on the app store.

  • Lots of features
  • Reasonably priced
  • User-friendly
  • Can export 4K
  • Video slideshow features
  • Need to upgrade to maximise potential

Inshot is an excellent all-round video editing and photo slideshow maker app. It’s one of the most feature-packed and easy-to-use apps of this kind for use on the iPhone and Android.

Like with many of these apps, there’s a free version and a premium version you need to pay a subscription for. The free version has plenty of features for most people (although it has ads and watermarks), and the premium version is reasonably priced.

With it, you can set up video slideshow projects, photo projects, and collages.

It has a very simple, easy-to-use interface with a preview window and an editing timeline. It is very easy to add or remove pictures and videos to or from the timeline just by dragging and dropping.

In the timeline, too, you can trim or reorder clips to suit your needs.

It has a good selection of different canvas settings (aspect ratios) to help you set up your photo slideshow and tailor-make it for different social media platforms. For example, vertical for Tik-Tok, square format for Instagram, and so on.

See the video below, which shows how you can make a slideshow using Inshot:

Inshot makes it simple to add effects (these are basically filters) and transitions to your slideshow, as they have a good library of these.

You can also add stickers and text to your photo slideshow, and these are added as layers so they’re easy to edit afterwards.

The app also contains more advanced features like adding video within video, but those are only available to Premium users.

As for its audio capabilities, you can extract the audio directly from your video, but it’s also easy to add other audio as necessary.

Inshot has a huge music library of its own, but you can also import tracks from your iTunes library or use your phone to record a voiceover if you want that to be your audio track.

Once the audio track is in place, you can manipulate it to fit your visuals, for example, to fade in and fade out.

It’s easy to export your finished content to a variety of resolutions and speeds, up to a maximum of 4K at 60fps. Once you’ve done that, you can share it to any social media platform straight from the app itself.

FotoPlay Slideshow Maker (Best Free SlideShow App for Android)

A screenshot of a photo video editor app on a phone.

  • Free photo slideshows
  • Adjustable intensity filters
  • Easy to learn and use
  • Variety of  background music
  • No 4K download

FotoPlay Slideshow Maker is an easy and free-to-use video and photo slideshow maker that has a decent amount of features.

Its interface is simple and easy to learn, plus there are a lot of templates to help you set things up with minimal effort.

If you don’t want templates, you can start with a blank canvas, and it’s easy to import your own photos and videos from your camera roll.

Once you have your content in place, you can customize the photos and videos by adding effects (you can also adjust the intensity of these), and add stickers and frames from the app’s large library of them.

You can also add animations to your photos like pan and zoom or dissolve, which work on the content itself or the transitions.

With the traditional preview window and timeline set up, it’s simple to see what you are creating as you’re creating it, and also easy to make micro-adjustments to the lengths of the clips and the duration of effects and animations.

You can adjust the speed of each clip individually, plus the transitions and music settings.

FotoPlay Slideshow Maker has an audio extractor that lets you scrape the music from any video. You can also import your own music or use the app’s music library to add soundtracks.

Once everything’s ready, you can save your photo slideshow at different aspect ratios for different social media platforms and then download it at a maximum of Full-HD 1080p resolution.

  • Best apps to turn photos into anime

PicPlayPost (Best Free SlideShow App for iPhone Video Clips & Photos)

A screenshot of a video editor on a mobile phone.

  • Supports all media formats
  • Auto slideshow setting
  • Video collage feature
  • Easy to use
  • Lower resolution downloads than other apps

PicPlayPost is a free slideshow maker app for photo and video slideshows and video collages.

The slideshows you create can be up to thirty minutes in duration, and you can set them up according to a range of aspect ratios suitable for different social media. For example, 16:9 for YouTube, 4:3 for Facebook, etc.

If you’re pressed for time or just don’t want to do any work yourself, the app can produce an automated slideshow for you. Just select all the content you want to be added, drag everything in, and PicPlayPost will set up the slideshow for you.

Otherwise, you can do everything manually.

Like the other apps in this guide, it has a simple interface with a preview window and a timeline. So you can move clips around, reorder and trim them, add and delete them, and get everything looking exactly as you want it to.

You can also import GIFs from Giphy and add animated text and stickers to your slideshows, and the app also lets you create live wallpapers.

One interesting feature is that any text you add to a slideshow video can, if you like, be pinned to a moving object, so it can follow it around.

It’s easy to add audio tracks to your photo slideshow, as you can buy music straight from the app.

PicPlayPost also allows you to create slideshow video collages with up to four videos playing simultaneously or sequentially, and you can add your own music and transitions to this.

The slideshow video collage function is not just for videos either. It supports all media formats, including photos, videos, GIFs, and live photos.

Anything you create on PicPlayPost can be shared to social media directly from the app.

MS PowerPoint (Best SlideShow App for Presentations)

Microsoft powerpoint app for iphone and ipad.

  • Powerful photo slideshow software
  • AI assistant
  • Templates and other design aids
  • Supports all forms of media
  • Collaborative tool
  • Subscription-based
  • Steep learning curve

MS PowerPoint is the corporate chief of photo slideshow makers, a piece of software so ubiquitous that it has entered the daily lexicon in the same way that Google has.

It’s software designed for collaboratively creating slideshow presentations and for sharing with other people across devices.

You can set up your presentation from scratch or take a template from its vast library of them. Once you have a template set up, you’re not stuck within its starting parameters.

You can get right to work customizing and formatting its colours and layout.

There are also no limits when it comes to the media you can insert into the presentation.

Of course, audio is supported, still images and video, but you can also add animations or even 3D elements either from your own archive or the Microsoft library.

And the way that you can interact with the software is also pretty flexible.

Gone are the days of just dragging and dropping elements in or typing text out.

Of course, you can still do this, but you can now also draw straight onto a slide or convert handwritten notes to text. You can even dictate your presentation’s text with the voice-to-text feature.

As well as the templates I mentioned earlier, you can get a different kind of help with the design of your presentation.

With the Designer and Ideas feature, you can, for example, type in a title for your slideshow, and the software will make image suggestions for you.

And that’s not as smart as it gets, either.

The new Copilot feature will help you write the presentation from prompts you give it, fine-tune your language if you ask it to, and intelligently help you create a narrative arc.

Powerpoint has almost become a robot colleague.

And, if you’re working on a presentation or photo slideshow with flesh and blood colleagues, you can communicate with them within the software, and you can all track one another’s edits.

12 Tips for Making an Entertaining Photo Slideshow

Creating an entertaining photo slideshow is about more than just displaying images in sequence.

Here are some tips to elevate your slideshow and captivate your audience:

  • Storytelling is Key : Arrange your photos in a way that tells a story. Whether it’s chronological, thematic, or based on mood, a narrative flow keeps viewers engaged.
  • Choose Quality Over Quantity : Instead of overwhelming viewers with countless images, select the best ones that truly convey the essence of your story or theme.
  • Use Transitions Wisely : While it’s tempting to use flashy transitions, it’s often the subtle ones that work best. However, occasional dramatic transitions can emphasize key moments.
  • Add Music : A well-chosen soundtrack can elevate the emotional impact of your slideshow. Ensure the background music matches the mood you’re trying to convey.
  • Incorporate Motion : Pan and zoom effects, often referred to as the “Ken Burns effect”, can add dynamism to still photos.
  • Use Captions Sparingly : While it’s okay to provide context, avoid cluttering your slideshow with too much text. Let the images speak for themselves.
  • Vary Photo Durations : Not every photo should have the same screen time. Some images might require a longer view, while others can be fleeting.
  • Include Short Video Clips : If you have relevant video clips, intersperse them with photos. This breaks the monotony and adds a dynamic element.
  • Maintain a Consistent Style : Whether it’s in the choice of transitions, color schemes, or fonts, maintaining consistency gives your slideshow a professional touch.
  • End with a Bang : Conclude with a memorable image or a summary slide that encapsulates the essence of your slideshow.
  • Test on Different Devices : Before presenting, ensure your slideshow looks good on various devices, from laptops to projectors, to ensure the best viewing experience.
  • Engage the Audience : If presenting live, interact with your audience. Share anecdotes, ask questions, or provide additional context verbally.

Remember, the goal of an entertaining slideshow is to evoke emotions, tell a story, and engage the viewer.

All the best photo slideshow apps in this guide have the ability to help you do just this.

FAQs on SlideShow Apps

How do I make a slideshow of pictures?

It’s quite simple to make a photo slideshow these days with all the software and apps out there.

First of all, you need your content, the photos, either some you’ve taken or copyright-free images you’ve found online, and then you just upload them to the software.

Many slideshow apps will automatically make a slideshow for you, but if you want manual control, that’s built-in.

Use the software to move your pictures around, adjust the length they show for, add music, and all that sort of thing.

You can have a complete slideshow ready to share in a matter of minutes.

How do I make a slideshow with music for free?

There are plenty of options for making slideshows with music for free, both with desktop software and slideshow apps for mobile phones.

You can normally add music of your choice from your library or use the app’s library instead.

Free options for desktop computers include PhotoStage, Filmora and iMovie, and free slideshow apps for mobile phones include PicPlayPost and Fotoplay Slideshow Maker.

Bear in mind, too, that most paid slideshow apps for mobile phones have free versions. If you’re just looking to make something simple, and don’t need access to a huge array of, for example, effects and stickers, they might be enough.

Let’s jump right in.

Create dynamic, visually powerful presentations

Create dynamic, visually powerful presentations_SpeakerHub

1.   Voice Notes + Dictation

Some speakers find it easier to get into the flow and say what they are thinking, rather than write out what they would like to say. Voice Notes is one of the highest-rated free transcription apps and can help you by recording what you say and turning the recording into text. You can work out your content through various renditions of the recording, and then find the flow that will work best for your talk.

2.  KeyNote ,  PowerPoint ,  Google Slides , and  Prezi

All of your favorite slide creation platforms: KeyNote, PowerPoint, Google Slides and Prezi, are available as smartphone apps. Create and change your presentation on the go, keep them on hand so you can practice your talk anywhere, and have an immediate backup in case the tech fails at your next event.

KeyNote on  Android  |  iOS

PowerPoint on  Android  |  iOS

Google Slides on  Android  |  iOS

Prezi on  Android  |  iOS

While PowerPoint has been a keystone for many presentations for years, below are two newer apps which can help you create visually compelling slides that integrate video, images, and audio flawlessly, while you are on the go.

3. FlowVella

Flowvella has been created specifically for iPhones and iPads, and is one of the best new platforms for creating fully integrated and interactive presentations. It has been specifically designed and developed for tablet usage, and uses smart gesture technology. It allows you to flawlessly integrate media from all kinds of different sources so you never get caught awkwardly waiting for a video to connect or being forced to screenshot or open a PDF to include in the presentation.

4. Haiku Deck

Haiku Deck makes the most beautifully-designed presentations. It is near impossible to make an unattractive presentation with this tool. It is only available as an app: which is perfect if you are on the go or your smartphone is your go-to device. If you are looking for a simple, easy tool that makes gorgeous slides, this is the one for you.

Android | iOS

John Medina, a developmental molecular biologist and lecturer at the University of Washington, says that our brains will inevitably start to get bored after a mere 10 minutes , and by changing up the content style every 7-10 minutes, you can keep your audience engaged throughout your entire presentation. With Powtoon, you can create short informational animations that can help explain a specific point or an in-depth piece of information; keeping your audience engaged while still getting your idea across.

6. AIO Remote

Turn your Android smartphone into a presentation remote with the All In One Remote. All you need do is sync the presentation with the app and desktop app and you are ready to go. Integrates with Windows, Linux and Mac, and you can control any application on your computer through WiFi or Bluetooth. And it’s free!

Practice makes perfect

Practice makes perfect_SpeakerHub

There is a fine line between over- and under-practicing your speech. Practice your talk until you know all your main points without hesitation, but still sound conversational and flexible.

Stop using filler words and improve your pronunciation

Most people use filler words like “um” and “ah” when they are speaking. However, when on stage this can be very distracting for your audience. Download the Ummo app to get a handle on your “ums” and “ahs”. The app records your speech, then generates a transcript highlighting where you used filler words. This way you can tackle making sure you omit them from your future talks.

This app was designed for non-native English speaker and speakers who struggle with speech impairments. Created by two international engineering students at Drexel University, Orai records your talk and gives you instant, action-oriented feedback which will help you to improve your pronunciation, pauses and energy levels, while offering speaking tips to help you improve the flow and make your talks more understandable.

This app will help you practice taking filler words out of your speaking. While Ummo will help you with your specific talk, what happens when you need to answer a question? The app will help you practice eliminating these words in unpracticed speech. There are two games: TalkAbout and FreeStyle, which record you speaking about various topics. The app monitors how many times you use filler words and gives you a detailed report to track your progress.

Timing is everything

Timing is everything

Timing can make or break a performance — as anyone who has sat in on a session that has overrun by 20 minutes knows.

These next apps will help you manage your timing and pacing. From establishing good speaking rhythms to countdown clocks, these apps will help you go with the flow and stay on time.

A teleprompter “prompts” you with a visual text of your presentation. It allows you to read the text word-for-word ensuring consistent and accurate speech while maintaining the illusion of spontaneity.

10. iPrompt Pro

iPrompt Pro is one of the most intuitive teleprompting apps. It has a lot of options: from colour choices to scrolling speeds. It also has in-app text editing and timing changes, which is ideal for making changes as you are practicing. Although, there is some heavy advertising on the app (which can be quite tiresome) it is a low-cost, flexible app that has a lot to offer.

11. Teleprompt +3

Teleprompt +3  is a simple and well-designed app that has incredible options that will help you practice your talk. The timer tools are very helpful for ensuring your session runs on time. Tools like the audio and video recorder, rich text editor, and intuitive speed control help you make your talk look and sound natural. This is one of the more expensive apps, but if you are looking for a tool that will go above and beyond your expectations for a teleprompter, this is it.

12. Prompster

Prompster is smoothly-designed and provides readable text for all sorts of audible presentations, including talks, lectures, and sermons. You can create or import your documents, record your presentation (pro version), and share your talk with your audience via email. The onscreen controls allow you to set your text size and speed easily. If you are looking for a great tool to practice with, this is a tried-and-true app. It was voted iPhoneLife Magazine’s Best Public Speaking and Presentation App.

13. Teleprompter Pro Lite

Teleprompter Pro (both Lite and Premium) are very responsive and easy to use. You can type in or import your talk, then select your font, text size, and pace. The app continuously highlights where you are in the script so you won’t get lost. You can share your scripts on all of your devices: ideal for setting up your backup solutions. You can export prompt files using AirDrop or email. The Pro version also has a video recording function, which is perfect for watching your practices and making improvements.

Normal conversational speech ranges between approximately 120-200 words per minute, and listening to someone speak outside of this range can be difficult.

For example, an auctioneer can speak upwards of 400 words per minute, but listening to someone speak for 20 minutes in this range will befuddle and irritate any audience. On the other hand, speaking at less than 110 wpm will cause the audience to get bored and tune out.

Speech rate guidelines:

Slow: less than 110 wpm

Conversational: between 110 wpm and 160 wpm.

Fast: more than 160 wpm

Radio hosts and podcasters tend to speak at 150-160 wpm.

Auctioneers and commentators speak between 250 and 400 wpm.

Using a metronome can help you set your pace, but don’t forget to vary your pace — keeping it too even will sound monotonous, so play around with your pacing until it is in the right range while still sounding natural.

14. Metronome Beats

Metronome Beats has easy-to-use controls for increasing and decreasing the tempo in small increments. The visual beat indicators help you to keep track, and it is easy to mute the metronome while visually monitoring your tempo.

15. Pro Metronome

Pro Metronome was created for all kinds of stage performers, including musicians, to improve their rhythm. It is a fantastic app for public speakers who are working on their pacing. This app has a variety of ways to keep your tempo: from screen color changes to vibrations and sounds.

Timers and Clocks

It is so easy to lose track of how long you’ve been on stage. Being able to keep your talk on time is crucial. It keeps you from waffling on and ensures that the whole event runs in a timely manner.

Having a timer will help you keep your presentation flowing on time.

16. Amber Light Speech Timer

Modeled after a traffic light, this app helps you figure out where you are in your talk and how long you have left to get your point home. A green light displays for the introduction and body of your talk and it changes to amber when you are getting close to the end, and red when your time is up. The app is easy to use and allows you to custom-set your time frames. You can even change the alarm to a vibration if you are keeping it in your pocket onstage.

17. Toastmaster Timer

This app was originally designed for those who play the “Timer”, the individual in Toastmaster’s meetings who signals to the speaker when it is time to finish. It is a superb, free option for practicing. The timer is simple to use and has been designed specifically for speakers. It also uses the traffic light system but has slightly less customizable options than the Amber Light Speech Timer.

18. SpeakerClock

The SpeakerClock was inspired by the famous countdown clock that is used at TED conferences. The LED-style countdown clock is easy to see, even from a distance, so you are free to move around on stage. This app has a great design, and also includes a traffic-light-style feature that alerts you when it is time to get to your conclusion.

Keep your pre-performance jitters under control

Keep your pre-performance jitters under control

While the above apps are practical and skills-focused, they don’t address one of the greatest challenges when speaking — stage fright.

Where a little bit of pre-stage anxiety is normal, if it tips into too much, it can have a detrimental effect and potentially ruin your talk.

These next few apps will help you manage your stress levels and bring your heart-rate back down. Helping you get your message out clearly and confidently.

19. Confident Public Speaking Now

This app is part guided meditation and part stress-relief training. It offers meditation-style hypnosis sessions, like “Relax Completely” and “Total Relaxation in 10 minutes”. It also offers video interviews on what causes, and how to deal with, stress. It aims to teach you how to enjoy small doses of stress and gives you some tools to help you deal effectively with anxiety.

20. Public Speaking by HiveBrain

Sometimes, all you need is some soothing, confidence-boosting words to get you in the right headspace. Dr Andrew Johnson's guided meditation / self-hypnosis program will help you relax and minimize the anxiety of speaking in front of crowds.

21. VirtualSpeech's Public Speaking

One of the most interesting new apps for public speakers helps you by putting you on a virtual stage. Upload your presentation, then practice in front of a fake audience. The app requires a virtual headset, but its 3D, realistic-looking scenarios can be very helpful in getting a handle on being in front of a group.

22. Insight Timer

With over 4.5K free guided meditations from over 1K meditation practitioners, and over 750 meditation music tracks, you will be able to find something that will help you stay calm. You can even customize your meditation using the background sounds and meditation tool intervals, so you have something that is specific to your needs and fits into your pre-performance routine.

23. Headspace

While not specific to public speaking, Headspace is a great way to learn more about meditation and start regular practice. The free trial helps you relax for 10 minutes a day for 10 days with guided exercises and lessons, and includes a personalized progress page, reward system for continued practice, and can even hook you up with a buddy to help ensure you stick to the practice. How do I make a slideshow on an iPhone?

While Apple's built-in Photos app lets you shuffle your stored pictures, if you want a more elaborate slideshow with choice of transitions, special effects, and background music, you'll want to download and install a slideshow app from Apple's online App Store. Most of these third-party slideshow apps work in a similar fashion. You start by selecting a theme or template for your slideshow then select which photos and videos you want to include. You can then select transitions and animations, background music, and other special effects. You can save the resulting slideshow on your iPhone or send it to Instagram, YouTube, and other popular social media.

How do I make a slideshow on an iPad?

Apple's Photos app lets you create simple slideshows out of the pictures stored on your iPad. Third-party slideshow creation apps, however, let you create more sophisticated slideshows, including shows that include both photos and videos. You start by choosing the theme or template you want, selecting which photos and videos you want to include, and what music you want to play during the slideshow. You can then add transitions, animations, and other special effects and then save the slideshow or post it to your favorite social network.

How to Make a “Good” Presentation “Great”

  • Guy Kawasaki

Remember: Less is more.

A strong presentation is so much more than information pasted onto a series of slides with fancy backgrounds. Whether you’re pitching an idea, reporting market research, or sharing something else, a great presentation can give you a competitive advantage, and be a powerful tool when aiming to persuade, educate, or inspire others. Here are some unique elements that make a presentation stand out.

  • Fonts: Sans Serif fonts such as Helvetica or Arial are preferred for their clean lines, which make them easy to digest at various sizes and distances. Limit the number of font styles to two: one for headings and another for body text, to avoid visual confusion or distractions.
  • Colors: Colors can evoke emotions and highlight critical points, but their overuse can lead to a cluttered and confusing presentation. A limited palette of two to three main colors, complemented by a simple background, can help you draw attention to key elements without overwhelming the audience.
  • Pictures: Pictures can communicate complex ideas quickly and memorably but choosing the right images is key. Images or pictures should be big (perhaps 20-25% of the page), bold, and have a clear purpose that complements the slide’s text.
  • Layout: Don’t overcrowd your slides with too much information. When in doubt, adhere to the principle of simplicity, and aim for a clean and uncluttered layout with plenty of white space around text and images. Think phrases and bullets, not sentences.

As an intern or early career professional, chances are that you’ll be tasked with making or giving a presentation in the near future. Whether you’re pitching an idea, reporting market research, or sharing something else, a great presentation can give you a competitive advantage, and be a powerful tool when aiming to persuade, educate, or inspire others.

How to use gemini to create ai images in google slides.

Create accompanying images for your presentation in seconds

Creating a professional presentation using Google Slides takes time and design skills. While the app provides professional pre-designed templates for business, personal, and school use, adding a picture with Google's Gemini AI is an easy way to add visual flair to your slides. This feature is only available on the desktop version of Google Slides. You can access it on all computers, including affordable Chromebooks , ideal for working remotely on a budget. Here's how to use AI to generate images in Google Slides.

How to access Gemini in Google Slides

AI image generation with Gemini isn't available in Google Slides by default. To access Gemini in Google Slides, you need access to one of the following Google AI programs:

  • Gemini Enterprise and Gemini Business add-ons for Google Workspace accounts
  • Google One AI Premium for personal accounts
  • Google Workspace Labs

All Gemini AI features are only available in English but can be accessed worldwide. Google Workspace Labs is free, but access is limited.

The easiest way to access Gemini in Google Slides is a Google One AI Premium subscription for a personal account. This service is free for two months, after which it costs $20 a month. In addition to all Gemini tools and 2TB of Google One storage, you also get other benefits.

ChatGPT vs. Gemini: Which gives the better answers?

How to use ai to generate images in google slides.

To get started, check that you're signed in to your Google Account, have access to Gemini, and open Google Slides.

  • Enter a prompt in the text box on the right of your screen.
  • Wait for Gemini to generate four images based on your prompt. The process usually takes no longer than 20 seconds.

The image can now be edited like any image in Google Slides, including cropping, rotating, and adjusting transparency settings . Click View more to generate another four images (this doesn't remove the ones already generated).

Add feedback by clicking the thumbs-up or thumbs-down icon on each image.

Tips for using AI to generate images in Google Slides

Gemini is a handy tool for adding relevant images quickly to Google Slides. Like any AI image generator, it requires specific prompts to generate the image you want.

Use specific details when creating prompts

Use descriptive words to generate the right image. Think of features you can see or feel. Colors, shapes, texture, and lighting are important elements of an image that you can add to your prompt. For example, "red vase with a rough surface on a windowsill in the morning" is a better prompt than "vase on a windowsill."

Add styles to fine-tune the output

Underneath the text box is the Add a style drop-down menu. Selecting an option from this list generates an image in a style such as a watercolor or sketch.

Check previously generated images

Google Slides saves your generated images in the sidebar for your session. Scroll down to see all the images you generated. These disappear when you refresh or close the page.

Generate beautiful presentations in minutes

Gemini's AI image generation and Google Slides' premade templates let you focus on the presentation's content. Gemini does more than generate images. It powers various features across Google's apps. Try these Gemini tips and tricks for translation, document generation, video analysis, and more.

We humans make the world move, but we need to sleep, rest and so on. What if there were someone available 24/7 for you? It’s time to get out of your comfort zone and ask the AI presentation maker to give you a hand. The possibilities are endless : you choose the topic, the tone and the style, and the AI will do the rest. Now we’re talking!

Customize your AI-generated presentation online

Alright, your robotic pal has generated a presentation for you. But, for the time being, AIs can’t read minds, so it’s likely that you’ll want to modify the slides. Please do! We didn’t forget about those time constraints you’re facing, so thanks to the editing tools provided by one of our sister projects —shoutouts to Wepik — you can make changes on the fly without resorting to other programs or software. Add text, choose your own colors, rearrange elements, it’s up to you! Oh, and since we are a big family, you’ll be able to access many resources from big names, that is, Freepik and Flaticon . That means having a lot of images and icons at your disposal!

best app to make presentation on phone

How does it work?

Think of your topic.

First things first, you’ll be talking about something in particular, right? A business meeting, a new medical breakthrough, the weather, your favorite songs, a basketball game, a pink elephant you saw last Sunday—you name it. Just type it out and let the AI know what the topic is.

Choose your preferred style and tone

They say that variety is the spice of life. That’s why we let you choose between different design styles, including doodle, simple, abstract, geometric, and elegant . What about the tone? Several of them: fun, creative, casual, professional, and formal. Each one will give you something unique, so which way of impressing your audience will it be this time? Mix and match!

Make any desired changes

You’ve got freshly generated slides. Oh, you wish they were in a different color? That text box would look better if it were placed on the right side? Run the online editor and use the tools to have the slides exactly your way.

Download the final result for free

Yes, just as envisioned those slides deserve to be on your storage device at once! You can export the presentation in .pdf format and download it for free . Can’t wait to show it to your best friend because you think they will love it? Generate a shareable link!

What is an AI-generated presentation?

It’s exactly “what it says on the cover”. AIs, or artificial intelligences, are in constant evolution, and they are now able to generate presentations in a short time, based on inputs from the user. This technology allows you to get a satisfactory presentation much faster by doing a big chunk of the work.

Can I customize the presentation generated by the AI?

Of course! That’s the point! Slidesgo is all for customization since day one, so you’ll be able to make any changes to presentations generated by the AI. We humans are irreplaceable, after all! Thanks to the online editor, you can do whatever modifications you may need, without having to install any software. Colors, text, images, icons, placement, the final decision concerning all of the elements is up to you.

Can I add my own images?

Absolutely. That’s a basic function, and we made sure to have it available. Would it make sense to have a portfolio template generated by an AI without a single picture of your own work? In any case, we also offer the possibility of asking the AI to generate images for you via prompts. Additionally, you can also check out the integrated gallery of images from Freepik and use them. If making an impression is your goal, you’ll have an easy time!

Is this new functionality free? As in “free of charge”? Do you mean it?

Yes, it is, and we mean it. We even asked our buddies at Wepik, who are the ones hosting this AI presentation maker, and they told us “yup, it’s on the house”.

Are there more presentation designs available?

From time to time, we’ll be adding more designs. The cool thing is that you’ll have at your disposal a lot of content from Freepik and Flaticon when using the AI presentation maker. Oh, and just as a reminder, if you feel like you want to do things yourself and don’t want to rely on an AI, you’re on Slidesgo, the leading website when it comes to presentation templates. We have thousands of them, and counting!.

How can I download my presentation?

The easiest way is to click on “Download” to get your presentation in .pdf format. But there are other options! You can click on “Present” to enter the presenter view and start presenting right away! There’s also the “Share” option, which gives you a shareable link. This way, any friend, relative, colleague—anyone, really—will be able to access your presentation in a moment.

Discover more content

This is just the beginning! Slidesgo has thousands of customizable templates for Google Slides and PowerPoint. Our designers have created them with much care and love, and the variety of topics, themes and styles is, how to put it, immense! We also have a blog, in which we post articles for those who want to find inspiration or need to learn a bit more about Google Slides or PowerPoint. Do you have kids? We’ve got a section dedicated to printable coloring pages! Have a look around and make the most of our site!

iOS 18 — this is the biggest AI move Apple needs to make

It's time to make Voice Memos a smarter iPhone app

iOS 18 logo on iPhone in person's lap

For something that won't be coming out in its full form until the fall, iOS 18 is certainly generating a lot of interest and speculation. The likely arrival of AI-powered features will do that for a software update.

A lot of the pre-release talk about iOS 18 is focusing on how Apple might integrate AI into its iPhone software . Will it mean auto-generated playlists in Apple Music? Generative creation tools in apps like Pages and Keynote? Perhaps even a smarter, more conversational Siri that's better equipped to field more complex questions

That's all fine by me. But whatever it is Apple adds to iOS 18, AI-wise, I hope that the Voice Memos app gets some love and attention, too.

Yes, you read that right. I think Voice Memos is crying out for more advanced capabilities. And should Apple add them in iOS 18, the voice recorder app has the potential to be one of the most essential built-in tools on your iPhone.

The state of voice recorders

Samsung Galaxy S24 vs. Google Pixel voice recorder app showdown

Currently, Voice Memos on iOS is... fine . If I need to record a voice over for a video, I fire up the app. And I think Apple has equipped the app with some handy editing tools that make it easy to trim a recording on the iPhone's relatively limited screen space.

But you compare it to similar apps on Pixel and Galaxy S phones — Recorder on the Pixel, Voice Recorder on Samsung's phones — and you see how Voice Memos could do so much more. You can transcribe your recordings on the Pixel and Samsung phones, with the Pixel even doing the transcribing on the fly. Both apps recognize and label when different speakers appear on recordings. And as of the Galaxy S24 , Samsung's voice recorder can tap into AI to summarize what's on a recording. (That feature is extended to last year's major Samsung phones via the recent One UI 6.1 update .)

When I need to record an interview or a presentation, it's not the iPhone I grab — it's whatever Pixel I happen to have on hand. (In my head-to-head Recorder vs Voice Recorder testing , I find Pixel's transcripts are easier to clean up and I like how recordings are auto-assigned a title.) The iPhone's Voice Memos is a fine recording app if all I need are the basics, but for anything beyond that, the built-in recording apps on the best Android phones put Apple's efforts to shame.

How AI can help Voice Memos

iOS 18

At a bare minimum, Apple needs to add a transcription capability to Voice Memos. Yes, plenty of third-party apps offer this functionality, but it seems like something that should be built directly into Apple's own offering. What's more, transcription should take entirely on the device, something you'd expect iPhones of recent vintage to have enough processing power to handle. (And if not, well, that's surely something the upcoming iPhone 16 models and their A18 chipsets should be able to support.)

It's not just a matter of converting audio to text, by the way. The transcript needs to be linked to the recording, so that if you tap on a particular word or sentence, you jump to that place in the audio. That's table stakes for a transcription feature.

I think Voice Memos should be able to recognize different speakers and label them as such in the transcript. Again, that's something you'll find on recent Pixels and Samsung phones, though Apple has the opportunity to one-up the competition, as my testing found that Recorder and Voice Recorder can get confused if there's a lot of cross-talk or rapid back-and-forth in recorded conversations. Besting rival recording apps on accurate speaker identification would give iOS 18's version of Voice Memos a real leg up.

I'm less sold on summaries as an important AI-powered add-on to Voice Memos. Yes, it's nice to have, particularly if you're recording brainstorming sessions, lectures or anything where you need a quick rundown of what was said. But I don't think it's a must-have addition.

Instead, what I really want Voice Memos to do is auto-assign a title based on the content of a recording. Right now, Apple's app uses the location of your recording as a title, and it's up to you to go in and change that. Make a lot of recordings in the same place, and it's very hard to tell which recording is covering what topic. Taking the responsibility for changing the title out of users' hands and automating it would be a real time-saver.

iOS 18 outlook

Obviously, Voice Memos is not Apple's primary focus with iOS 18. The push into AI with this update will largely be Apple's attempt to make up for lost as it looks to catch up with the efforts of other companies that adopted this technology faster.

But if the purpose of an OS update it to add new capabilities and enhancements that make old apps feel like new, Voice Memos is crying out for some improvements. And AI could deliver a lot of helpful functionality to that particular app.

Google is pushing Gemini into another app on your Android phone (Updated)

Published on April 8, 2024

Google Gemini logo on smartphone stock photo (5)

  • The Google app for Android is all set to gain a Gemini toggle.
  • The new feature will allow Android users to use Gemini without downloading its dedicated Android app.

Update: April 8, 2024 (3:20 AM ET): In our original article below, we presumed that Gemini would be an experience within the Google app without replacing Assistant as a whole on your Android phone. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. The tipster has now clarified to Android Authority that even when you use the upcoming Gemini toggle in the Google app, you will be greeted with a page asking for your permission to switch from Assistant to Gemini. If you’ve already opted in to use Gemini before, you won’t see this permission. The crux of the matter is that no matter how you use Gemini on your Android device, it will replace Assistant.

Original article: April 8, 2024 (1:20 AM ET): Google launched a dedicated Assistant-replacing Gemini app on Android in February. However, it seems the search giant is not yet done “Gemini-fying” your Android phone. If you haven’t downloaded the Gemini app before, Google is planning to give the AI chatbot prime real estate inside the Google app.

According to tipster Assemble Debug ‘s findings (via Piunikaweb ), Android users will soon see a Gemini switch inside the Google app on their devices. This is similar to how Google offers Gemini on its iOS app. Toggling to Gemini within the Google app lets you start an interaction with the AI by typing, talking, or sharing an image. So essentially, you move away from the traditional Google Search and Discover interface to the Gemini interface.

The new option in the Google app for Android actually makes sense for users who want to try out Gemini but don’t want to lose Google Assistant functionality. Currently, if you download the Gemini app on your Android device, you have to opt-in to remove Google Assistant and use only Gemini as the primary AI guide on your phone. A toggle to use Gemini within the Google app will overcome this restriction.

There’s no word on when the feature will roll out to the Google app for Android, but thanks to the above video shared by the tipster, you can see how it would function.

Viber offers easy-to-use tools for chatting and calling, and it's constantly expanding its extra services. Not only can you take notes, for example, but you can also use AI chatbots for useful insights like language or fun activities like playing games and getting tarot readings.

When comparing the usefulness of WhatsApp and Signal , the latter may have fewer features, but it wins in terms of data and user security.

You'll feel safe using Signal thanks to its settings related to your phone number's visibility, PIN, screen and payment locks, and how quickly you want the app to make your messages disappear. Personalization settings are just as varied.

At the same time, you can enjoy all the standard communication tools. So, whether you want to text, call, video chat, or share stories with your friends without restrictions, Signal has you covered.

Snapchat is one of the most popular social apps on this list. It lets you text contacts, send them images and videos with cool or hilarious filters, share stories, and personalize your profile, for example, by creating and customizing your Snapchat Bitmoji .

We're talking about a messaging platform with built-in photo editing tools and a spotlight reel, so connecting via Snapchat can be hugely entertaining.

Whether you're chatting one-on-one or as part of a group chat, it's worth making the most of the app's features and tailoring it to your needs.

If you're looking for a community with the same interests as you and not just a way to talk to your friends online, Discord is the right messaging app for you.

You can join servers dedicated to a huge range of topics and geek out with other members. Chat privately or on messaging boards, interact with posts you love, and stay up to date with community news and events.

If privacy is important to you, learn how to become invisible on Discord and socialize on your terms.

Put simply, Discord is a social network for fan clubs. And the more you explore it, the more fun servers you'll discover to engage with topics you're passionate about.

What makes an instant messaging app great is the usefulness of its basic functions. WeChat is an excellent example of combining good security with fun and versatile communication tools.

It's not the most attractive app, and signing up can take several steps, but once you're on WeChat and bring in your contacts, the platform's advantages become clear. After all, millions of users around the world trust it above all other platforms for good reasons.

Besides chatting and sending images and videos, you can find your friends in real time by sharing your location via the app. It lets you create a time capsule—a collection of short videos that disappear after 24 hours. You can also find games to play with friends or collect stickers to take your exchanges on WeChat to the next level.

To narrow down the best messaging apps, you need to decide why you want them and what functions attract you the most. Whether you prefer straightforward and secure chatting, multiple features that make the user experience more enjoyable, or a full-blown social network that brings like-minded people together, one of the above options should suit your needs.
