Independence Day Welcome Speech 1

Hon’ble Principal, Vice Principal, Teachers, and My Dear Friends – Warm Greetings to you all!

As you all know that we have gathered today to celebrate this big national event – the Independence Day of India. This day is the most auspicious in our nation’s history as it won back its freedom after many years of relentless struggle by our great freedom fighters.

Therefore, the momentous day, i.e., 15th August in 1947, was a golden moment in Indian history, the remembrance of which fills every Indian with a feeling of patriotism and comradeship, as we all feel bound by a common thread of nationalism. This day is celebrated with an equal amount of zeal and passion. The great freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives in the independence struggle are remembered with a lot of reverence, and jawans (soldiers) who lost their lives on the battlefield are paid homage.

Therefore, I – Sarthak Pandey, from Standard XI (A), would want all of you to observe silence in the memory of our shaheed (martyred) jawans and vow to never let their sacrifice for protecting our country go waste. Their families are our families and, therefore, our responsibilities, so we should try to support them in whatever way we can. Only then will it be a real celebration of Independence Day. We can’t experience the painful journey of our freedom fighters by staying within our comfort zones.

But what we can do is build a strong nation from within through our good deeds and social acts. We should not only live for ourselves but for others as well. Only then will it be a peaceful coexistence. Always remember that this freedom is won after the sacrifice of many people and several decades of struggle for over a century.

I hope you all remember the great Indian soldier i.e., Mangal Pandey, in the British armed forces. He is credited with initiating the first revolt to overthrow British Rule, known as the “Revolt of 1857”. Later on, several freedom fighters joined the battlefield and spent their whole lives only achieving independence. It is impossible to brush aside the sacrifices made by Chandra Shekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, and Khudi Ram Bose, who died early to free the nation from the chains of slavery. Then we cannot forget the struggles of Gandhiji and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

Now that we live and breathe in an Independent India, we should not take this freedom for granted and sincerely shoulder the responsibilities of our country and be ready to handle any national emergency or other issues.

This is all from my side, and now may I invite our respected principal on stage to address students and kick start the day’s events.

Thank you, everyone, for being such a patient listener. I am sure you all would have a wonderful time with us.

Independence Day Welcome Speech 2

Warm Greetings of the Day Everyone – I hope this day finds you in the best of spirits!

I, Sourabh Chabra – the assistant manager of the ABC Group, welcome everyone to the Independence Day celebration in our office while giving a special mention to our board of directors and managers for taking their valuable time out and becoming a part of this celebration. Before we begin today’s events, I want to give a brief speech on Independence Day. As we all know that there are some colleagues from outside our country, it becomes our responsibility to familiarize them with our culture and tradition and most importantly with such days which are of great national importance.

Today, I feel incredibly proud of hosting this great day, and words will fall short of describing the sense of joy that I feel while standing here on the podium in front of you all. We should consider ourselves fortunate to live in an independent India as its citizen. We should also thank our predecessors and never forget their sacrifice in the Indian freedom struggle. We should pray to the lord to give us the strength and courage to dedicate our lives to the service of our country.

For this, we are not expected to fight on borders only; we can become the responsible citizen of our country by doing social service, i.e., helping our fellow countrymen in their noble pursuits, serving mankind, by contributing to the economic and social growth of our country, by helping eradicate social evils, such as poverty, corruption, marginalization of women, etc. from our country.

So let us not waste the sacrifice of our forefathers and wisely utilize the resources of our country to bring it to the top of the list of the world’s developed countries. Let’s also understand the importance of our national flag, Tiranga Jhanda .

On this day, the national flag of India is hoisted in different state capitals and union territories by various political leaders who also deliver a speech on Independence Day. We also sing desh bhakti (patriotic) songs which fill us with nationalistic fervor. Interestingly, various dramas and stage plays are enacted on this day, giving a vivid enactment of the Independence Day struggle and the bravery of our martyrs.

So this day is not only about bringing family and friends together and enjoying the shows on television, but it’s also a day to remember all the great souls who have made us live the dream of an Independent India. This day is very special because we forget our differences of caste and creed as well other political discrepancies and come together to revel in the glory of our nation.

Let’s celebrate this day together, leaving all our professional competencies and differences behind. Cheers to this day and Jai Hind, Jai Bharat!

Independence Day Welcome Speech 3

Hello Everyone – I hope you all are doing well!

A warm welcome to the Independence Day Celebration in our ……. society clubhouse! I, Abhishek Tripathi, the secretary of our society, feel extremely glad to see all of you gathered for the celebration today. I hope you all are equally excited as much as I am.

But before we kick start the celebration, please allow me to deliver a short speech on the importance of this day. Our children need to realize the importance of such days, which are of great national importance. I feel that in the present times, our children are moving towards modernization so much that they are diverting from their roots and, at times, fail to realize that they are slowly and gradually becoming detached from everything that has given them their identity. They are adopting western culture and lifestyle so much that they cannot embrace the rich cultural civilization of their native land.

So it’s a humble request to all the parents and even children to trace our nation’s history and find out how our great freedom fighters fought the battle with the Britishers who had once had a sweeping influence over our lives. Recollecting their memories and acknowledging their great contribution to the freedom movement will mean paying homage to them in the true sense of the term. Also, we should understand that this freedom is hard-won and must be preserved at all costs. As a nation, we should stand united and never let the differences crop in so much between us cultural, geographical, and political differences that the outsiders start taking advantage of us. Instead of progressing, we begin facing a steep decline.

Children, please understand that we can serve our nation in ways more than one. We don’t necessarily have to become a soldier or fight on the battlefield to be truly called the son/daughter of the nation. We can do that by being the best in whatever we do. For instance, if anyone among you becomes a doctor, your responsibility would be to serve mankind in the best manner possible. It is also very important to sometimes work selflessly and help uplift the weaker section of society, so if you have to attend to a patient who cannot afford expensive medicines or treatment, your job would be to give them medical treatment free of cost.

I hope the message I want to convey through my speech is loud and clear, and I am sure everyone in the audience will support my point of view. We all live for ourselves, but to make our lives mean, we should sometimes live for others. Only then would we be able to make our lives worth it.

This is all for today, and now may we begin with today’s performances.

Thank you and Jai Hind!

Independence Day Welcome Speech 4

Respected Principal, Vice Principal, Guest of Honor, Teachers, and My Dear Students – Warm Welcome to Everyone!

I, Sormishtha Panja, Class–XII (B) class teacher, wish everyone a Happy Independence Day. This is the 77th Independence Day, and the day is etched on our minds with a strong impression. After all, how can we forget the sacrifice of our great freedom fighters, who had put up a brave front in front of the British army and did not give up at any cost? 15th August 1947 was a moment of great pride and national glory for all the Indians.

Therefore, on this auspicious occasion, when India became free from bondage and emerged as an independent nation, we must recall the sacrifice of our Indian leaders, such as Mahatma Gandhi Ji and Jawaharlal Nehru, Bhagat Singh, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Sarojini Naidu, and others. They fought selflessly for their motherland and put at stake everything they had, such as their lives, their families, etc. Then how can we forget their sacrifice so easily and take this freedom for granted?

This day is, therefore, not only celebrated because India became free but also to commemorate the memories of our great freedom fighters. On the eve of this historical day, i.e., 15th August 1947, our first Indian Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, addressed the Parliament and gave his first most famous speech, i.e., “Tryst with Destiny,” proclaiming the freedom of our country at midnight. This proclamation uplifted the spirit of our countrymen as India was, at last, living its dream of a free nation, free from domination and oppression under the rule of the Britishers. It was a great historic day as our country at last managed to shake off the shackles of foreign rule and become an independent nation. It was, of course, the night of merriment all across the country.

However, when you gain something, on the one hand, you lose another thing on the other. Owing to the rising disparities between the Muslim and Hindu communities, the demand for a new Muslim nation gained stronger ground. Sindh and Punjab were divided into the northwest province of India to give birth to a new nation. The formation of Pakistan took place on the 14th of August; hence they celebrate Independence Day on that very day itself.

To celebrate 15th August, an official ceremony is organized at the Red Fort, situated in the national capital. Our Hon’ble prime minister hoists the Tiranga Jhanda at the Red Fort to pay homage to our motherland and honor the freedom won by our brave freedom fighters. The speech of our prime minister is the major highlight of the day. Patriotic songs are sung by our children in their schools and colleges and at workplaces by their colleagues.

So everyone, let us also, without any further ado, kick start the celebration and cheer for our participants.

Read Short Welcome Speech for Independence Day 2023

Indian Independence Day is one of those occasions which calls for a welcome speech because we as Indians celebrate this day as a festival. After 200 years of slavery under the British Empire, it was on August 15, 1947 that India became an independent nation.  This year marks the 77th year of India’s independence, which is being celebrated with zeal across the country as ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav 2023.’

After many years of struggles, where our freedom fighters were hanged, imprisoned, and tortured, we could see the light of the day. On this day, schools across the nation honour their legacy and sacrifices by conducting the program. This can be presented as a long welcome speech for Independence Day or a short welcome speech for Independence Day.

Indian Independence Day 2023

“At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India shall awaken to freedom.” With these golden words of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India claimed her rightful independence on 15th August 1947 after almost 200 years of British Raj.

India’s freedom was the result of years of struggle against British Imperialism which was fought by our freedom fighters, many of whom gave their lives for the nation so that their future generations could live in a free country. Several prominent leaders and revolutionaries come to mind when we talk about the freedom movement, including Jawaharlal Nehru, who became our first Prime Minister, Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh and many more.

We should always remember and cherish this freedom that we struggled for so long and at the end of a long road, we finally achieved our rightful position as a sovereign nation.

The Meaning of Independence for India

While the Independence of India was a glorious event in the country’s history, it was also a very painful one. Independence came with the condition of partition, two dominions of India and Pakistan were created and people who had lived together for centuries were divided from each other. This shall always teach us that freedom is not free and the price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

When we became independent, India was an extremely backward country with more than 75 percent of our population living in poverty, and food shortages, famines and illiteracy was rampant. We took an oath to make our nation one of the most advanced nations of the world and have been on that mission for the last eight decades.

Quotes on Indian Independence Day

"Freedom in mind, faith in our hearts, memories in our souls. Let's salute the Nation on Independence Day!" - Unknown

"Freedom is never dear at any price. It is the breath of life. What would a man not pay for living?" - Mahatma Gandhi

"Let new India arise out of peasants' cottage, grasping the plough, out of huts, cobbler and sweeper." - Swami Vivekananda

"One individual may die for an idea, but that idea will, after his death, incarnate itself in a thousand lives." - Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose

"Even if I died in the service of the nation, I would be proud of it. Every drop of my blood... will contribute to the growth of this nation and make it strong and dynamic." - Indira Gandhi

This year India is celebrating its 77th Indian Independence Day 2023 and it is a time when the entire nation should come together as one to celebrate our journey till now and march to an even glorious future where we create a better India so that our progeny can be proud of ourselves.

Students can use this welcome speech in English for Independence Day celebration 2023 in their schools and deliver a great speech to begin the auspicious day.

Table of Contents

Welcome speech, flag hoisting, principal’s speech (educational institution), chief guest’s speech (for ngo/local clubs), song performance, fashion show/go-as-you-like (educational institutions), relief distribution (local clubs/ngo), dance performance/play-acting (educational institutions), concluding speech.

Feature image of Anchoring Script for Independence Day

A welcome speech is an indispensable part of any anchoring script. But when it comes to writing anchoring scripts for some Independence Day celebrations, many things need to be considered. For being an issue of national pride, Independence Day is connected with many people’s emotions. That’s why one must be careful with opening his/her anchoring welcome speech in some independence day celebration.

Besides, different organisations need different types of welcome speeches. You can open your welcome speech with some popular and relevant quotes. Below, I will mention demo speeches for some kinds of popular institutions.

For Educational Institutions

Good morning to our respected principal sir/ma’am, all teachers, non-teaching staff, and our students. Today is a day that even the basest of all human beings will remember without fail. Today is the 15th of August. Today is not just a date in our calendar marked in red as Independence day. It is much more, in fact. This is the day when the dreams of our valiant patriots and nationalists became fulfilled. Their dream of an independent India.

A constitution to call our own. Mine. Yours. Ours. No one foreign. No more bondage. No more jails and tortures. No more beatings and insensible gunshots in open daylight. But only the bliss of freedom. We have gathered as we are enjoying the happiness we received at the exchange of the bloodbath of 200 years. We also bow down today to those uncountable, unnamed souls who have bravely laid down their lives for our motherland. We salute them and say in chorus, Vande Mataram!

For Local Clubs

Good morning everyone, on behalf of (club’s name). Today the sun is brighter. But not without reason. It is the sunshine after a long, long clouded gloomy century. Rather two centuries of Indian sky were overcast by inhuman colonial rule over the Indians. It might have been instigated by some of the countrymen themselves.

Today as we celebrate our Independence day, we are not just proudly declaring ourselves as free, but slapping hardest on the face of some traitors, who have been intrinsically responsible for our unreasonable bondage. We have won. We have fought, shed blood in every possible way, bore every torture they have inflicted us with, and finally, we have won. Our Gandhi, our Nehru, our Bhagat Singh, and our Netaji, all of us have been successful. Let us offer our prayers to them for those sacrifices made and over whose alters we are today free. Let us say in our rigid voices, Bharat Mata Ki Jai!

Very good morning to our honourable chief guest (his/her name), our co-ordinator chief (his/her name), our associates, and all others who are present here today. Happy Independence Day to all of you. Saying that I am reminded of my grandfather, from whom I have gathered several unpolished truths about the British rule over our country.

I remember myself shuddering and often crying at the immoral tortures and pains, the plague, crisis, hunger, and death of millions of civilians, who actually had done no harm to anyone. And felt how horrific it became for them to let their sons and daughters out of the houses, where only the police forces were waiting for hunting those who were fighting for the independence of our country.

Our history books have always told of the stalwarts, and have fossilized the unnumbered unknown men and women whose bosoms wanted to break the chains of the motherland. This independence is the dream of one Nehru or Netaji pr Gandhiji, but thousands and thousands of such Mahatmas. We bow to them in reverence and observe a minute of silence for their brave souls. I will request all of you to stand up.

Now I will request our principal sir/ma’am/honourable guest to come forward and hoist our national flag, our identity and let it soar the highest above all. Let us pay our tributes to our brave people and those foreigners who have loved our country just like their own.

After flag hoisting (Educational Institutions)

Now I will request our principal sir/ma’am (his/her name) to share with our students the necessity of observing today as neatly as any religious festival. Over to you sir/ma’am.

After flag hoisting (for NGO and local clubs)

Now I will request our honourable/chief guest to come upon the stage and share with us how memorable is this day for him/her and how he/she feels rooted more deeply every time the national anthem is heard or our national flag is hoisted. The stage is all yours.

Good morning to everyone who has gathered today here and is not merely idling away back at home considering today is just like any other Sunday. Today is indeed the most special day since it pertains to our identity. What I am trying to tell you all is especially for our younger generations since they are the most gullible.

They can be misguided and destroyed. Whenever you go out you can pose yourself today as modern, updated, social, and independent. Even without earning a penny, you all are today free citizens of India. How? It has been possible because some people with their daring hearts have decided to leap into this ocean of life and fetch freedom for their mother.

They have forgotten that they are Hindus or Muslims or Christians. They have forgotten if they ate rice or chappati or idly. They have forgotten their language and spoken all together, Vande Mataram. It was their strength. A spur of their sentiments. And remember children, they did not have Facebook or Whatsapp to popularise themselves. They got special and immortal by spilling their blood, tearing themselves away from their homes, and serving the world.

Do you think that was ever easy with police hounding them like wolves? Never. And so today we with all amenities can still criticize the system. You are the future of that country that has decided not to accept bondage and slave away but continue to revolt till the sun rises. We are descendants of the Mahatma. We all can be a Mahatma. And for that, you need courage and faith in yourself. That is all. I believe in you all to break today the bondage of corruption India is facing. You can be that soul to remove this pain of motherland. Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached. Thank you.

Good morning everyone. It s always a great honour to share the stage on such an important day. Before arriving here I was just reminiscing about the Jalianwala Bagh massacre. Such a waste of humanity! But something different actually stroke me. India is a land of unity in diversity, and even in the freedom struggle, this diversity is apparent.

You will observe on the one hand we have the Ahimsa and Satyagraha of Gandhiji. On the other hand, we have the Swadeshi movements, the Boycott movements, and the revolts of Surya Sen, Binoy-Badal-Dinesh, Matangini Hazra, and Netaji. Both are different in temperament and execution, yet both are necessary. No one is responsible for independence. What mesmerizes me is this balance of war and peace. It is just mind-blowing.

The looting of the gun and shell factories paralleled the fasts observed by the people. Independence of our nation teaches us in fact this vital issue of balancing. India is a country for all. We can never deny the assimilation of several cultures and opinions here. India is a melting pot. You all are aware of several things. But today I want to remind you of this tolerance of different ways India has. Hence let us be her true children. Thank you so much.

To pay our homage to the patriots let us now listen to a beautiful song that is to be performed by the students of our school/ Children of this area.

After song performance

That was really heart-touching. Something rings that chord within our hearts and takes us back to our roots.

Independence Day is the moment to instil national sentiments and respect for our countrymen in children. So, like every year, we have an event of go-as-you-like where little children have participated, dressed in several important figures of history. Let us call them up on the stage with applause.

After fashion show

That was so beautiful to see the young generation participate with such enthusiasm and confidence. Their faithful presentation is really praiseworthy.

We want to utilize today with very simple help for the needy of the community. For that, I will request our chief guest (his/her name) to distribute this minimum supply of necessity to the people.

After the fashion show let us now see what our dance/actors troupe has to portray about the indigo revolution in our country during the British rule.

After dance performance

The only thing that came to my mind after this is how terrific the reality was if a simple theatrical presentation of the truth is giving us goosebumps. A big round of applause for them.

We have finally arrived at the end of today’s program. It was excellent to see how so many of you have participated in this journey. It is noteworthy. Thank you so much for this assimilation. Let us now conclude today by singing our national anthem. Everyone, please join us Thank you so much.

Note: This is a sample script meant to provide you with a basic idea of how to write an anchoring script for a dance performance. Feel free to use this script and edit it as per your needs.

Welcome Speech in English: Best Samples, Examples & Tips

Why are welcome speeches necessary.

Most of the gatherings and ceremonies are held with a purpose. They are either planned events or spontaneous gatherings. In both cases, it is important to know how to organize such events. We must prepare ourselves to conduct the event properly.

Let us imagine that you are hosting a gathering. You have prepared everything, including food, drinks, decorations, etc., and even set up the stage. However, you forgot one thing – a welcome speech. What happens next? Do you start talking immediately without waiting for everyone to arrive? Of course not!

The same goes for a meeting. How many times did you attend meetings where people didn’t introduce themselves? Or worse, they talked about themselves too much during the meeting. In addition, some speakers talk directly to the audience without introducing themselves. This makes it difficult for the attendees to comprehend the event’s process and connect with its objectives.

So why is a welcome speech in English needed? To begin with, it is necessary to give a brief overview of the topic. Secondly, it helps to provide information about the organization and its history. Thirdly, it allows us to highlight our achievements. And finally, it creates a good impression on guests. Otherwise, they might ask questions like “Where is this event going?”.

Significance of welcome speech

The significance of the welcome speech won’t be apparent without understanding what makes up the history of an event. An event can be defined as a sequence of activities carried out over a period of time. These activities are usually organized into stages, each with a specific purpose. For example, an event may start with opening remarks, followed by a keynote address, and finally concluded with closing remarks. Each stage of an event has a different set of responsibilities.

In the case of a welcoming ceremony, the welcome speech is considered to be one of the most important parts of the whole gathering. In fact, it is the most crucial aspect of the entire event. This is because the welcome speech serves several purposes.

First, it introduces the guests to the host. Second, it provides information regarding the upcoming program. Third, it creates a positive impression among the attendees. Fourth, it helps in creating a sense of unity among the participants. Fifth, it helps in establishing good relations between the hosts and the guests. And finally, it ensures that the guest feels comfortable during the occasion.

Objectives of a Welcome Speech in English

The objective of a welcome speech in English is to introduce yourself and the rest of the attendees at the event. This is done through a short introduction about who you are, what you do, why you’re attending, etc. The following are the objectives of a welcome speech:

  • Introduce yourself
  • Provide Information regarding the event
  • Create a positive impression among attendees
  • Establish good relations between hosts and guests
  • Ensure guests feel comfortable during the event
  • Help build unity among participants
  • Explain the purpose of the meeting/event
  • Set up the agenda for the meeting/event
  • Make introductions
  • Give background info about the organization
  • Highlight achievements (if any)

Welcome Speech Samples in the Education Field

There is a number of school gatherings that require welcome speeches, be it an official school gathering or an informal event. In this segment, we’ve sorted samples according to the typical events organized in schools. Take note of each paragraph and determine its purpose. You’ll be able to create a workable framework or basis for your current and future speech requirements.

Welcome Address in English For Students

It’s natural for attendees of any event to expect an introductory speech, which sets the tone for the occasion. A host can easily command attention with an effective welcome. Even the longest speeches have the capacity to hold an audience’s interest when delivered in a catchy and impressive manner.

A short opening speech for a commencement ceremony

To everyone present, good morning. A very warm welcome to our respected faculty, our remarkable parents, and our dear students. Special recognition is due for our Chief Guest (name of chief guest). It’s a true honor to have such a successful alumnus (or state the chief guest’s job title). We express our biggest gratitude for accepting our invitation to deliver today’s keynote speech.

I’m standing here as a lucky witness to our dear students’ academic journey. Our school is very proud of everything you have accomplished and your small but not minor contributions to society. You’ve brought prestige to our name and deserve the title of one of our school’s most successful and dedicated batch of students.

With your teachers’ guidance and parents’ support, you’ve reached remarkable heights. I’d like to take this time to extend my gratitude to our faculty and our parents, for understanding, encouraging, and nurturing our students.

Graduates, you are about to start another chapter in your life. An exciting yet scary period. From now on, you will face more challenges, but I am confident that you’re adequately equipped to face any tribulation that comes your way. Remember that with conviction and self-belief, no mountain is too high to climb. The laurels you’ve brought back to our school are only the beginning. I am genuinely excited to see the astonishing feats that your futures hold.

A long opening speech for a commencement ceremony

Good morning everyone! I would like to extend a very warm welcome to our esteemed faculty, astounding parents, and our dear students. I’m honored to open our commencement ceremony and stand here where many of our accomplished alumni who I look up to once stood.

I extend a particularly warm welcome to our Chief Guest (name of chief guest), who as one of our outstanding alumni, has really set the standard for exemplary accomplishments.

(enumerate key achievements of chief guest)

Her/his professional and philanthropic endeavors attest to their upbringing and the values she/he lives by. We want to thank you for responding positively to our invitation to be the keynote speaker on today’s auspicious occasion.

As another academic year reaches its end, I’m sure that our dear students are anxious and also filled with hope and excitement. This is their final school event in our renowned school/college/university (name of school). But hopefully, it won’t be their last awarding ceremony.

We are extremely fortunate to have such a talented and passionate group of graduates who have earned laurels in honor of our school, adding to its distinction and great reputation. The amazing encouragement and unconditional support of our parents throughout the school year have been extraordinary. They have stood by their children in every school event. Our teachers and staff are truly thankful for the trust you’ve given us. Your children’s journey wouldn’t have been a huge success without your guidance and nurture.

It’s been a remarkable experience to witness the passion and commitment our students have exhibited in all their undertakings. I am filled with certitude that you will achieve whatever goal you’ve set your mind on. Adulthood is going to be jammed with more trials you’ve never imagined before. I am kidding. Maybe. Joking aside, you will win as long as you work hard and believe in yourself.

Remember that you are valuable and take every challenge you face as an opportunity to prove your worth and get better. Also, surround yourselves with people who are good for your well-being and treat them the way you’d like to be treated.

Maintain your sense of humor because not much else will get you through when the going gets rough. Life can be very special and you can truly make a mark, which doesn’t always need to have global proportions. Be accountable for your mistakes and learn from them. Keep nurturing your passions and remain as driven, bright, and astonishing as you are today. You are all wonderful and I can’t wait to see your future accomplishments, because they will be great.

Thank you and do us proud!

Children’s innocence and love are incomparable and difficult to resist. Their smile is the closest thing to heaven that we can glimpse in the world.

School is your children’s second home, and we teachers are their second parents. We thank you for the opportunity to take care of and guide your little angels.

Join us to celebrate our students and make this day as eventful and fun as it can be!

University or school life isn’t just about getting a higher education – brace yourself for the adventure of a lifetime! This is the period to create good memories and meet people who can be a permanent part of your academic and later professional lives. May you develop the relationships and acquire the necessary skills to succeed in life.

But for now, let’s leave our worries and cares out in the hall. Let’s celebrate your wise decision to matriculate in our institution. Our college has prepared special events and an entertainment program highlighting some of our talented students.

The next few hours will be memorable and exciting! Thank you for listening and let’s get on with it!

Sample of Welcome Speech for a Goodbye Get-together

Good evening everyone!

Welcome to my farewell party. I know, I know. You all said you’re sorry to see me go, but that you all would need food and entertainment first to deal with your sadness. So here we are. I shall deliver.

As the Semisonic song goes “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” And so it is with great gratitude that the VP in Japan decided to retire early, so the end of his role can mark the beginning of mine. To Toni Takitani, thanks for deciding you’ve had enough!

Kidding aside, I’d like to thank my friends who made this very corporate event a huge success. Look at this, my goodness!

Most importantly, I want to impart my profound gratitude to my boss (name of the boss). Without you, this party won’t have a band. I couldn’t ask for a better mentor. Or I could, but none of them would have changed my life as positively as you have. It saddens me to leave you the most, but it comforts me that you were my biggest source of encouragement to go. Or it may have been your plan all along. Genius!

So to everyone who came, thank you. I’ll have time to thank you properly later, but for now, let’s eat!

Before anything else, I’d like to take this moment to thank Merville & Posque Inc., their CEO Mr. Hyori Asano and his team for putting this event together in record time. It won’t be possible without your tireless dedication and contributions. I also want to thank everyone who came, our remarkable associates from Osaka, Chiang Rai, and Quezon, our wonderful clients who have stuck with us through thick and thin, and our amazing consultants in various fields of energy conservation. Your interest and patronage are very much appreciated.

A great welcome to all our extraordinary employees and staff members, some of whom have worked and grown along our company’s 23-year history. A big welcome, too, to our interns who have recently joined and brightened our corporate offices.

Today marks the 15th annual MPBC and it’s an honor to be a host in this glorious congress. I myself will be staying for the conference’s entirety to learn what I can about sustainable energy systems and their various implications and impact on the future of our planet.

The activities today will include an overview of all the forums, seminars, and exhibits around the MPBC complex. Second, we will have the inauguration of the new bio-dome on the grounds where we will also honor this year’s retirees. The afternoon’s seminars will kick off after lunch, and I encourage you to attend the discussions and learn about our future plans and projects. Finally, I’d like to encourage everyone to help yourselves to the snack stations in the hallway. Refreshments and sandwiches are on us for the duration of the conference.

I won’t keep you long and let’s begin the day. I wish all of you a valuable and wonderful time! Thank you.

Welcome Speech Samples for Family Functions

Huge family events often have speeches: weddings, birthdays, farewell parties, funerals, anniversaries, and so on. Some of these events normally have hosts and esteemed guests. Here are some tips and samples to inspire you.

Tips on Welcoming the Chief Guest?

If you’re searching for tips on how to make a welcome speech for guest, here are some things you can do:

  • When drafting your speech, do the research.
  • Highlight the key qualities that are worth mentioning in an opening welcome speech for event.
  • Take note of the welcome address speech sample in this article and create a framework from them.
  • Look up welcome speech quotes and choose the best one to use somewhere in your speech.
  • Greet the chief guest at the event personally and introduce yourself if you don’t know each other.
  • Extend your hard for a handshake and smile to express that they are honored and welcome to the event.
  • Smile and suggest they are being welcomed.
  • Address them formally with the usual Miss or Mr.
  • Escort the chief guest before you assume host duties.

Welcoming the Chief Guest with a Short Speech

It’s a great honor to welcome our Chief guest and tonight’s keynote speaker. I was worried at first about how to introduce (title and name of Chief guest) because any introduction would pale in comparison to the reality and immensity of her/his accomplishments.

(Enumerate the main accomplishments of the chief guest).

She/he is the ultimate inspiration for young professionals everywhere who want to succeed in the field of international trade. Here to inspire us with her career journey and all the experiences she accumulated along the day, join me in giving a round of applause to (title and name of chief guest).

Welcoming the Chief Guest (Longer Version of the Speech)

Introducing our next attendee is a great pleasure of mine. When she/he accepted our invitation to be tonight’s Chief guest and keynote speaker, I almost jumped for joy. Then I realized I would naturally receive the task of introducing her/him. At first, this gave me great anxiety. How would I be able to pull it off and deliver an introduction that would give her background justice? Then I thought, no introduction would ever compare, so it was foolish to aim for success when failure is guaranteed. So I decided to just do it. Our chief guest has accomplished the following, to name a few:

As I looked at her/his professional and personal successes, I realized here is a woman/man who was faced many times with the certainty of failure but had given her circumstances a grad twist by attaining success against all odds. Then I thought, perhaps I should aim for success in this speech, after all.

She/he is an inspiration to many, not only for all the fields of expertise she has earned and the extreme success that went with the process, but she/he has also set the benchmark for philanthropy and good deeds. She/he has done this quietly, too, and she/he might strangle me for revealing it to the public. I didn’t even know half of the wonderful things she/he has done for our community before my research.

Without further ado, and here to inspire us with her wisdom and grand skill, join me in welcoming our Chief guest (title and name of chief guest).

Welcome Speech for Parents

Hi everyone!

As host and brother of the groom, I’d like to take this time to introduce the parents of the bride. Without them, my brother wouldn’t be the lucky and happy man he is today. More than that, I have witnessed how they accepted my brother and treated him as a son long before the engagement. I often tag along on family trips and have spent hours of wonderful conversations with them. Apart from my own parents, they are two of the most affectionate and hospitable people I’ve ever met. If I could meet a woman whose parents are just like them, I’d consider myself half as lucky as my brother.

Let’s give a round of applause for (names of the bride’s parents). Thank you for embracing my brother into the fold.

Welcome Speech Samples for National Holidays

Below is a sample of a welcome speech typically delivered during Annual Day. Substitute the appropriate details to match your information and use the framework in other speeches reserved for national holidays.

Welcome Speech for Annual Day

I am overjoyed to have this chance to welcome all of you to our elite institution’s 25th Annual Day. Today’s children are the hope of the next generation. All these graduates we see today, receiving awards for their achievements will go on to lead successful lives. Let them live up to the expectations set before them.

I am very happy to be a member of such an elite school where we learned from such great professors who teach us beyond the boundaries of the ordinary classroom. They’re also the minds and hands behind such a big event every year. I’d like to use this chance to organize such a wonderful event this year. It’s also a great pleasure of mine to introduce our Chief Guest.

Welcome speeches are necessary at events. They usually set the tone or expectations of the people who attended or participated in the occasion. There are many ways in going about delivering a welcome address speech. Review the samples in this article and do your due diligence to craft an outline, framework, or skeleton from the contents that you can use in welcome speeches of your own.

Frequently Asked Questions

A good welcome speech has the following qualities: * It is sincere. * It can hold the attention of the audience. * The ideas don’t ramble. * Welcome address quotes are used. One for a short welcome speech, and 2 for a longer one. Never 3, unless the speaker is trying to be funny. * The contents are relevant to the event. * It has an impressive anecdote. * The length doesn’t exceed 5 minutes.

The last segment of this article contains tips on welcoming chief guests, esteemed guests, or guests of honor. The tips contained here can be divided into things to consider while drafting the welcome speech, and things to do at the event itself when meeting the chief guest.

A simple thank you would suffice. Make sure you reiterate your gratitude. Some welcome speeches can end with a line that welcomes the guest of honor.

Depending on the context, a welcome speech doesn’t always need to be impressive. In some situations, a straightforward introduction is all you need. However, in some circumstances like commencement ceremonies, farewell parties, dinners, and some others, the audience is prepared to listen to long speeches. In this case, the speech needs to catch the attention of the attendees and maintain their interest. An impressive welcome speech often has an emotional element. Not just parroting big words to describe a person’s achievements or flatter them. Try to use humor if you’re funny by nature or if you can deliver the punchline well. Use popular quotes in your speech. Tell anecdotes relevant to the attendees. Or reveal an epiphany. These are how you should draft a welcome speech set to impress.

Make sure that it is relevant to the content of your welcome speech or the point you’re making. You can use phrases such as the following: * According to… * As the old saying goes… * There’s a quote that has always stuck with me… * Events like this always remind me of one of my favorite quotes… Try to find quotes that are unique and not cliche. You can find some in the lyrics of contemporary music, or lines and dialogues from books and movies, and so on.

Reported by Anjali

Published on 1 May 2024

As you know that Independence Day is one of the most important days in every Indian life. It is an occasion that is celebrated by the whole country, regardless of religion. We celebrate Independence Day every year on the 15th of August. Events like this cannot be completed without a speech and these kinds of occasions require welcome speeches.

Therefore this article has been prepared. We have provided Welcome Speech on Independence Day for Teachers and Students. Readers can use these articles for guidance while preparing the speech. Let’s have a look at the speeches that students, as well as teachers, can use.

Welcome Speech on Independence Day For Students

Good Morning respected guest, principal mam, teachers and all my dear friends. My name is (Your Name), student of (School Name). Today, we have gathered here on the occasion of Independence Day. We are currently celebrating the Independence Day of India .

It is important to learn about our country and the sacrifice of our leaders to protect this country from our enemies. If they wouldn’t fight for our country, we might still be under British control now.

When our country was free from British rulers and others, our country was known as “Sone Ki Chidiya”. So, what does this word mean? It means that our country was filled with resources. Our land was very productive. We had a good amount of minerals and other resources.

Due to its largest market and good human workforce, our country has managed to stand tall worldwide. These qualities of India influenced the Britishers, who decided to use India for their own benefit.

They came to India and started the divide-and-rule policy. Gradually, they captured every nook and corner of the country. The literacy rate of Indians was not that great at that time, and therefore they were easily influenced by the Britishers.

The British made Indians cheap slaves to its government and ruled for hundreds of years. After several years, personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Jawahar Lal Nehru and others realised the scheme of Bristishers and fought against them with their knowledge and strength.

After years of struggle and sacrificing many Indians, we got independence from the British government on 15th August 1947. As an Indian, you have freedom of speech and can express your opinion. To live a life of freedom, it was important to be independent. We shall never forget the hard work of our freedom fighters, ever in our lives.

Today’s generation can never truly experience the feeling of happiness of independence as we have got it without doing anything. However, to keep India that way, we should keep some responsibilities.

It is our responsibility to keep the country clean and crime-free. Follow the traffic rules and every other responsibility as a responsible citizen.

Indian celebrates this day with full patriotism and love for the country. The flag is hoisted at the red fort, a march-past takes place and schools organize the event to create awareness of Independence in children.

The independence we are enjoying today is filled with the blood of various freedom fighters of our country. So it is our duty to never take the independence our leaders have worked hard for advantage. It is our responsibility to teach the students to always respect the ones who are on the country’s border to protect our country and also motivate them to join it.

At last, I would like to end the speech by saying a few lines for our country:

“We may never know how it feels like to live in a free country if it was not for the bravery of our fathers. Today they deserve a big salute from us. Happy Independence Day!”

Welcome Speech Outline on Independence Day

Here we are providing the Independence Day Welcome Speech Outline which will help the audience during the preparation of the speech. Without getting delayed, let’s start the outline :-

  • Start the speech by welcoming the audience and giving your introduction.
  • Afterwards, you tell the occasion on why everyone has gathered.
  • End the introduction part by providing a little introduction of the speech topic.
  • Start the body part of the speech by providing the history of India and how it got independence.
  • Now, you should provide the importance of Independence to today’s generation.
  • Remember the sacrifices made by our respective leaders to free India.
  • Provide a list of some activities that are done to celebrate Independence Day.
  • Teach the audience to remember the leaders and their sacrifices for the country.
  • Tell a little about how you can be the one to make our country proud.

Welcome Speech on Independence Day For Teachers

Good Morning, everyone; I hope you are doing well. First, I would like to welcome everyone who came to celebrate the 78th Independence Day . I hope everyone is excited to celebrate this event with full of patriotism in them. My name is (Your Name), and I am (Designation Name).

Before we start the program, I would like to give a short welcome speech on Independence Day and its importance. It is important to teach our children the importance Independence Day for our country. Today’s generation is moving towards modernisation in a fast phase.

They are slowly diverting from our culture, country and roots towards the Western culture. They are getting influenced so much, that many children do not even know about different cultures followed by their own country.

It is my request to all the parents presented here and also children to start exploring our nation’s history and understand the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters to protect this country. If we will learn about them, it will automatically mean giving homage to them.

It is important to understand that our country has not gained independence easily. It is filled with blood and the hard battles of many Indians. So, it is our responsibility to reserve it at all costs. Our nation is known for different religions and cultures and the fact that we still stand united.

It is important to understand that we can serve our nations in multiple ways. It is not important to become a soldier to become a child of India truly. We can do it by doing whatever we do at its best. For Example, If you are a doctor, then it is your responsibility to work hard and save people’s lives. If you are a police officer, then you should work hard and reduce violence in the country.

It is your responsibility to work selflessly and help those who need your help. For example, you can treat someone free of cost if they cannot afford the fees. At last, I only wish that I was able to deliver the motive of my speech. Everyone lives for themselves but sometimes we can live for others and make our life meaningful.

Thank you for being patient and carefully listening to my speech. Now, we are ready to start the event with today’s performance. Thank you. Jai Hind and Happy Independence Day once again.

Independence Day 2023: Short Speech

Ladies and gentlemen,

Indian Independence Day is being commemorated today as one of the most important dates in the history of our magnificent country. We celebrate this day with pride as we reflect on the numerous sacrifices made by our ancestors to free our nation from colonial tyranny.

We honour visionary leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhas Chandra Bose, and countless others who led the fight for liberation with unyielding tenacity and bravery on this auspicious day. As we enjoy the priceless gift of independence and sovereignty because of their unceasing labour and sacrifice.

As we hoist the tricolour, we must also pause to consider the ideals and guiding tenets of our independence movement: inclusion, diversity, and unity. To develop a more powerful and affluent India, individuals from all backgrounds, ethnicities, and religions have come together in our nation as it stands today.

While we celebrate our independence, we must be aware of the difficulties that still lie ahead. We must work to end social inequities, poverty, and illiteracy. Let's join to fight communalism, corruption, and any other forces that jeopardise the peace in our country.

As accountable citizens, let us promise to do everything in our power to advance and build our cherished nation. Let's defend the values of democracy, equality, and justice in remembrance of the sacrifices made by our freedom warriors.

Let's celebrate our freedom on this Independence Day, but let's also keep in mind our obligations and responsibilities to India's future. Together, we can make India a nation that excels internationally and continues to inspire the rest of the globe.

Jai Hind! Happy Independence Day!

Good morning to all of you, including the vice president, instructors, principal, and my dear students. To celebrate the 77th anniversary of our country's independence, we have all assembled here. We shall honour all the freedom fighters who dedicated their lives to preserve the nation's freedom on this important occasion.

British sovereignty over India ended on August 15, 1947. All of our fundamental rights were granted to us in our nation, our home. The British were brutal to our ancestors while they were in power. We can't imagine how difficult it must have been for India to live within the British Empire from where we are sitting. To achieve independence, countless millions of sacrifices were made over many years.

Numerous freedom fighters fought for independence throughout their entire lives. We can never forget the sacrifices of Lala Lajpat Rai, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, Rani Lakshmibai, Khudiram Bose, Sukhdev Thapar, Vallabhbhai Patel, Mangal Pandey, Tatya Tope, Ram Prasad Bismil, Udham Singh, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, and many more who lost their lives just fighting for a better future.

We are incredibly grateful that our forebears battled to free us from British rule. They have contributed to our tremendous growth in the areas of technology, education, sports, and finance. With participation in competitions like the Asian, Commonwealth, and Olympic Games, the Indians are making progress.

On this significant day, it is now our responsibility to maintain the nation's honour, promote the nation, and enhance the nation. I wish everyone a Happy Independence Day and good luck for the future.

Thank You and Happy Independence Day to all of you!

Good Morning to all dignitaries and fellow mates who are present here.

On the eve of Independence Day, we honour the bravery and sacrifices of our Indian freedom heroes. When India became independent, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, our first Prime Minister, raised the tricolour flag at Delhi's Red Fort and Lahori Gate. This day has been observed as a separate holiday ever since. Numerous programs are dedicated in honour of the solemn occasion of the day during our Indian warriors' Red Fort-like march past, and schoolchildren fire 21 gunshots to signal the start of events and cultural performances. The Independence Day celebration also includes kite flying, which fills the sky with a variety of kites in all sizes, shapes, and colours. Later, starting in 1974, all of the various chief ministers unfurl the national flag.

The anniversary of the division of the subcontinent into India and Pakistan is another contemporary relevance of Independence Day. We are known for having the biggest democracy in the world. The UK Parliament approved the Indian Independence Act of 1947 on this day, granting the Indian country legislative authority.

Hope my words are enough to elate your happiness and patriotism. Happy Independence Day!

77th Independence Day 2023: Long Speech

Respected dignitaries, esteemed teachers, dear fellow students, and fellow citizens,

Today, as we gather here to commemorate the 76th Indian Independence Day, our hearts swell with pride and gratitude for the countless brave souls who fought relentlessly to liberate our beloved motherland from the clutches of British colonial rule.

The end of foreign rule and the start of a new era in Indian history are both marked by this day. It stands for the triumph of bravery, teamwork, and the tenacious spirit of the Indian people. Our fight for independence was more than just a political movement; it was a battle for our right to self-determination, fairness, and human decency.

We respectfully recall the inspirational leaders who guided us on this difficult road. The way of non-violence and civil disobedience, which became the pillar of our struggle, was demonstrated to us by Mahatma Gandhi, the father of our country. Our first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, laid the groundwork for the development of our country by envisioning a modern, forward-thinking India.

The key to realising our country's potential is education. Let's work to ensure that every child, regardless of circumstance, has access to an education. Not only is knowledge liberating, but it also lays the groundwork for a successful future.

Rural development must be given top priority in order to provide residents with access to necessities like clean water, healthcare, and sanitary facilities. By empowering our villages, we can achieve sustainable, balanced growth that benefits all of our citizens.

One of our biggest assets is our variety. Let's celebrate our variety and embrace our rich cultural heritage on this Independence Day. Together, we are stronger, and India stands out on the international stage because of its variety.

Lastly, let us never forget how difficult and costly it was to achieve our independence. As proud Indians, it is our responsibility to uphold the democratic, secular, and socially just ideals that our forefathers envisioned. Let's promise to be law-abiding, caring, and environmentally conscientious citizens who help our amazing country flourish and prosper.

Young people need to be aware because they have the power to alter their country and the future of the country rests on them. Therefore, it is our responsibility to serve the country and work as hard as we can to improve society.

Nationalism and patriotism are present across the nation as a result of this day's commemoration. On this day, we also sense our pride and solidarity in the nation's diversity. India is a nation of people who practise several religions alongside one another, and a diversified society with a rich culture and heritage applauds this wonderful occasion with tremendous enthusiasm. We are happy, and it gives us greater motivation to defend our motherland against any assault on its sovereignty and integrity.

We the people can't miss taking some prominent freedom fighters without whom the dream of our independence was not possible including Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Lala Lajpat Rai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr Rajendra Prasad, Moulana Abdul Kalam Azad, Sukhdev, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Chandra Shekhar Azad, etc. Because of his sacrifice and labour, our nation is free from British rule. Independence Day is celebrated differently around the world, but its value is universal. It serves as both a poignant reminder of the difficulties and sacrifices made in pursuit of freedom as well as a celebration of the advancements gained over the years. Therefore, remember to carry out your responsibilities to the country.

Speech on the Journey of Independence Day

The Journey of Independence Day Speech: India’s path to freedom was not easy. The country gained independence because of our freedom fighters who exhibited immense courage and determination. This journey began somewhere around the 1800’s and ended in 1947. From the 1st war of Independence in 1857 to the Quit India Movement in 1942, India lost many lives to achieve freedom.

Thereafter, with the conclusion of the Quit India Movement in 1945 and the implementation of the Lord Mountbatten Plan on 3 June 1947, India achieved its independence on 15 August 1947.

Speech on the Journey of Independence Day

Hello everyone, and I welcome you all to an independent and warm sunshine. Today, we are all gathered here to celebrate India’s journey til 15 August 1947. This journey is a celebration of the human spirit and the power of hope. This journey of independence begins with a desire for freedom that later burns in the hearts of our forefathers, who dared to dream of and achieve as a sovereign nation.

India’s quest for independence started with the Revolt of 1857 which is considered as the 1st War of Independence. The revolt was fueled by the discontent among Indian soldiers in the British East India Company’s army. Mangal Pandey, an Indian soldier ignited the spark in the army and made a courageous attempt to reclaim our rights and dignity. Later on, General Bakht Khan (Delhi), Begum Hazrat Mahal (Lucknow), Rani Lakshmibai (Jhansi), Nana Saheb (Kanpur), Kunwar Singh (Bihar) and many more joined the revolt. Though we did not succeed, the seed of resistance was sown into the hearts of people and helped pave the way for future struggles.

The Lucknow Pact of 1916 was another landmark moment in the history of India’s journey to Independence Day. As a landmark moment, the pact showcased the unity among Hindus and Muslims against British rule. Indian leaders like Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Muhammad Ali Jinnah worked together for constitutional reforms. Moreover, this pact helped lay the foundation for a united front against colonial oppression.

Also, the massacre of Jallianwala Bagh in 1919 can never be forgotten in India’s journey to independence. The merciless act of General Dyer claimed hundreds of innocent lives. This ruthless act sparked outrage in our people who wanted to break the chains of colonialism.

This chain of revolutions in the journey of independence started scaring the British. Another landmark event in the freedom struggle was the Mahatma Gandhi-led Non-Cooperation Movement. In this movement, he urged his fellow Indians to boycott British goods and institutions. The mass protest was successful and saw millions of people participating in the movement. The mass participation highlighted not only the unity but also reflected the yearning for freedom among the Indian population.

Later on, the Quit India Movement on August 8, 1942, saw a huge crowd rallying behind Mahatma Gandhi with a call for an immediate end to British rule. During this uprising, famous freedom fighter leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Chakravarti Rajgopalachari, and others were imprisoned. But as it is said, the torch of freedom never extinguished, and the spirit of resistance remained unbroken.

After years of struggles by freedom fighters, India saw a bittersweet moment in the history of freedom on August 14 and 15, 1947, which marked the end of colonial rule and also led to the creation of India and Pakistan as two separate nations. As India celebrated its freedom on 15 August 1947, the country faced communal tensions, mass migration, and the division of properties and financial assets.

As a student, we should never forget the struggles and sacrifices made by the freedom fighters of India. To make the journey of Independence more memorable and meaningful, all these incidents can be included in the curriculum of the syllabus students so that they can know more about them comprehensively. Also, students can depict scenes of freedom struggle through various activities, such as dramas, skits, dance, and songs.

In conclusion, the journey to independence has shown the world that our country is a land of sacrifice, dedication, and the value of honor. The struggles and fights will inspire future generations to celebrate the freedom that was hard fought. Though we enjoy and celebrate Independence with pomp and show, the journey was still more memorable than one might think.

The Definition of a Welcome Speech

A welcome speech as the name suggests, is a type of speech that is mostly given by the host or hosts at the beginning of an event or a ceremony. This is where the speaker is showing some gratitude and appreciation for the people who took their time to attend the event. Welcome speeches are mostly used in school events, church events, wedding events, or any type of event that a lot of people attend too.

The Importance of Welcome Speeches

One of the most important things to remember when making welcome speeches is the fact that this is your way of captivating your audiences. This may depend on how well you deliver the speech to draw your audience in to listen. Another thing to remember is that a welcome speech should not be too long or too short. Not too short to forget to mention your guests, nor too long that it drags on.

Tips to Write Short Welcome Speeches

As we all know, welcome speeches can either turn boring or fun, depending on how they are prepared. Nobody wants to hear a speech that is too boring or too long. So to avoid issues like that, here are some tips to write short welcome speeches, followed by tips to present your short welcome speeches.

Tips for writing short welcome speeches

  • Prepare – start by simply preparing. The question here is to prepare what. Start by thinking about what you want to write. What event are you attending that needs a short introduction?
  • Draft – the next thing you should do is to make a draft of your welcome speech. Start with the important details. For example, if you are attending a church event , remember to write the names of the important people. If you are attending a graduation event, the honored guests’ names must be written as well.
  • Choice of Words – Pick your words carefully when writing a short welcome speech. Add some lively details to it but also keep it simple. You are only welcoming people and thanking them for coming . The welcome speech is not used as the main course, but merely an appetizer to the whole event.
  • Revise – After you have written it down, check your whole speech. Make sure the details are there as well as the correct spelling and word usage.
  • Tone – The tone of your writing should match the event you are attending. If it is a lively event, make it as lively as possible, if it is a depressing event, make sure it is as well.

Tips on presenting your welcome speech

  • Voice – Your voice should not be too loud nor too soft. Rather, it is enough to be heard from the back.
  • Practice – Practice on doing your speech before the actual event. Ask someone to give you feedback on how well you presented yourself and work from there.
  • Maintain Eye Contact – remember when talking to people you must make eye contact. Let your audience feel you are happy to see them attend the event.
  • Posture – How you bring yourself when making the welcome speech can say a lot of things. So it is best to stand up straight, be confident, and welcome your guests with a smile.

How many paragraphs does it take to make a short welcome speech?

Just one short paragraph. Welcome speeches are not supposed to be too long or too short. A simple 4 to 5 sentences will do, as long as the necessary details are there.

Is there a shortcut to making welcome speeches?

There is no shortcut but with practice you are able to be good at it in no time.

How do I make my short welcome speech less boring?

Watch your tone, your word usage and how you present yourself and when you read your welcome speech.

“Greetings ladies and gentlemen” this may not be much of a head turner, but it’s a start. How you present your welcome speech also matters. Being familiar with the tips on writing and the tips of giving the speech may help you in the long run. There are no shortcuts to making the best speeches, but with a lot of practice and experiences, giving welcome speeches would be a breeze.
