Educator Recruitment and Retention Section

Salary: $70,000 - $71,500 

Closing date: 04/25/2024.

This position will: • Assist in the design, support, communication, and oversee the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of the teacher registered apprenticeship program (TRAP). This includes collection of appropriate program data, preparation of documents and presentations related to the Arizona registered apprenticeship program; • Work collaboratively with the Educator Recruitment and Retention (ERR) unit, Educator Preparation Program (EPP) unit, and the Certification unit to approve programs, as well as develop effective systems to support and guide Local Education Agencies (LEAs) with training and communication related to work-based learning as a workforce development pathway; and • Work with the Arizona Department of Labor to apply for grants, secure funding, etc., for the Arizona teacher apprenticeship program. The Arizona Department of Education currently utilizes a hybrid work environment, with up to two days of remote work (contingent upon business needs). Candidates should apply with an ability and willingness to work in-office up to five days per week as business needs necessitate.

• Assist in the design, communication, and implementation of the Arizona teacher registered apprenticeship program • Collect appropriate program data prepare documents(s) and presentations related to Arizona teacher registered apprenticeship program • Collaborate with ERR, EPP, and Certification to approve programs that will participate in the Arizona teacher apprenticeship program • Collaborate with Arizona Department of Labor (DOL) to apply for grants, secure funding, etc. for Arizona teacher apprenticeship program • Collaborate with Educator Preparation Programs regarding the required related instruction • Work cooperatively with LEAs to provide training and communication regarding program approvals, reporting, and monitoring • Interpret state and federal policies governing apprenticeship training programs and provide information and assistance to staff, trainees, training providers, and companies interested in participating in the Arizona teacher apprenticeship program • Provide information and technical assistance to LEA personnel, EPP personnel, and other professional entities on matters related to matters related to Arizona teacher apprenticeship program • Assume responsibility for responding inquiries (telephone, email, and written correspondence) related to Arizona teacher apprenticeship program

Knowledge in: • Arizona Revised Statutes, Title 15 • Arizona State Board of Education Rules and Regulations relative to educator preparation program approval as well as certification of teachers and administrators in Arizona • Policies and procedures recorded in the AZ State Personnel Manual • Education/training concepts and techniques • Concepts and techniques of managing people by objective • Change management • Continuous improvement • Educator preparation programs and systems • Applicants must have taught or administered an education program • A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field, or equivalent experience to substitute for the degree, is required. • Applicants must have an Arizona Teaching Certificate Skills in: • Systems analysis • Interpretive • Research • Observation • Decision making • Problem-solving • Time management • Customer service • Communication • Leadership • Consulting training • Teaching adult learners • Active listening • Organizational • Detail oriented • Written and verbal communication • Intermediate to advanced skill in using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel is required Ability to: • Manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision and respect for confidentiality • Prioritize tasks and develop workflow • Complete all job responsibilities in a timely manner • Work with a diverse team • Manage change • Implement continuous improvement to meet the needs of customers and stakeholders • Draw accurate inferences from quantitative, qualitative and situational data • Accurately assess a variety of situations and select the best option for action • Synthesize diverse data and information • Exercise initiative and good judgment to make quality decisions within the scope of assigned authority

Preference will be given to those applicants with: • An understanding of the Arizona K-12 and post-secondary systems desired • The ability to demonstrate teaching at the K-12 and/or higher education level(s)
