Grade 12 Accounting Project Tasks and Case Studies for Term 1, 2, and 3 (Task A, B, C and D) SBA: Memorandum: The final Grade 12 mark is calculated from the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examination that learners will write (out of 300 marks) plus school-based assessment (out of 100 marks). Purposes of Accounting Grade 12 Project Tasks

• The school-based assessment provides a more balanced and trustworthy assessment system, increasing the range and diversity of assessment tasks.
• The exemplar tasks are aimed at reflecting the depth of the curriculum content appropriate for Grade 12.
• They reflect the desired cognitive demands as per Bloom’s revised taxonomy: remembering, understanding, applying, analysing, evaluating, and creating.
• School-based assessment improves the validity of assessment by including aspects that cannot be assessed in formal examination settings.
• It improves the reliability of assessment because judgments will be based on many observations of the learner over an extended period of time.
• There is a beneficial effect on teaching and learning, not only in relation to the critical analysis and evaluation of Accounting information and creative problem-solving but also on teaching and assessment practices.

Task a: students are required to report on companies for 20 marks.

• Part A: Report on a public company listed on the JSE .
• Part B: Internal auditor’s report on procedures and internal controls in a public company

This task includes shares of no par value and repurchase of shares. This task is suitable for Grade 12 learners from 2014 (CAPS).

What is the purpose for Accounting Grade 12?

The reasons for learning Accounting Grade 12 in South Africa are the following:

• record, analyse and interpret financial and other relevant data in order to make informed decisions;
• present and/or communicate financial information effectively by using generally accepted accounting practice in line with current developments and legislation;
• develop and demonstrate an understanding of fundamental accounting concepts;
• relate skills, knowledge and values to real-world situations in order to ensure the balance between theory and practice, to enter the world of work and/or to move to higher education, and to encourage self-development;
• organise and manage own finances and activities responsibly and effectively;
• apply principles to solve problems in a judicious and systematic manner in familiar and unfamiliar situations, thus developing the ability to identify and solve problems in the context of the various fields of Accounting;
• develop critical, logical, and analytical abilities and thought processes to enable learners to apply skills to current and new situations;
• develop the following characteristics: – ethical behaviour – sound judgement – thoroughness – orderliness – accuracy – neatness;

The calculation of an Admission Point Score (APS) is based on a candidate’s achievement in any SIX recognised National Senior Certificate 20-credit subjects (including subjects from the non-designated subject list, e.g. Computer Applications Technology , Tourism , Hospitality Studies and Civil , Electrical & Mechanical Technology , etc.), by using the NSC seven-point rating scale. Life Orientation is a 10-credit subject and may not be used for calculating the APS. Life Orientation is also not a faculty-specific subject requirement.

• Credit sales comprises 60% of total sales
• 40% pay in the month of sales and receive 5% discount.
• 35% pay in the month following the month of sales
• 23% pay in two months after the month of sales
• The balance accounts for bad debts
• A profit mark-up of 25% is applied on all sales.
• A base stock is maintained. Stock sold is replaced in the month of sales.
• 80% of stock is purchased on credit. Creditors are paid in the second month following the month of purchases. (60 days)

Why passing Grade 12 is very important

Grade 12 ultimately prepares you for the real world out there, and most importantly matric is your ultimate gateway for varsity. You really need good marks in Grade 12 in order to pass well and study what you like . Good Grade 12 marks means good APS Score.

The calculation of an Admission Point Score (APS) is based on a candidate’s achievement in any SIX recognised National Senior Certificate 20-credit subjects (including subjects from the non-designated subject list, e.g. CAT , Tourism , Hospitality Studies and Civil , Electrical & Mechanical Technology , etc.), by using the NSC seven-point rating scale. Life Orientation is a 10-credit subject and may not be used for calculating the APS. Life Orientation is also not a faculty-specific subject requirement.

Requirements to pass Grade 12 | Matric in 2021

Hey, Grade 12 Learner! Do you know what it takes to obtain your Grade 12 Certificate?  All matric students in South Africa are required to register to write at least 7 subjects and they may not fail more than one subject. Failing more than one subject means you have failed matric. Thus, in order to pass you need to meet the following requirements:

• Obtain at least 40% for your Home Language
• Pass two other subjects with 40%, an
• Get 30% for three other subjects
