Digitalisation in Daily Life Essay

Essay – digitalisation in daily life.

Digitalisation in Daily Life Essay: Digitalization refers to the use of computers and internet to facilitate various functions and actions. Digitalization started way back in the 1950s with the advent of computers. Since then, the process has continued to increase its usage diversity.  In 2015, the flagship programme “Digital India” enabled the mainstreaming of digital services in India. Digitalization has enabled efficiency and lower operational costs in production. With better User Interface (UI) and seamless communication, digitalization has some very obvious advantages.

Digitalisation in Daily Life

Digitalization of communication through the introduction of software applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Microsoft Teams, etc., drastically changed the way we communicate with each other. We can now connect with anyone at any given time without being restricted by time and space/place. Improved and fast communication due to digitalization has allowed us humans to function easily and with much less errors. Also, digitalization has aided the infotainment industry. We can watch documentaries, news, movies with a click on the screen in the comfort of our homes or from anywhere we want.

In the economic and commercial sector too, we see how digitalization has revolutionized our functions. One of the most prominent changes as can be seen has been the increased usage of UPI or Unified Payments Interface. UPI has reformed the way we conduct commercial transactions. It has provided inclusivity for small scale businesses in the economy by allowing them to set up credit-acquiring systems conveniently. The introduction of UPI has reduced the dependency on the previous card/cash-based payment systems. The new digital infrastructure has moreover encouraged entrepreneurs to open up start-ups and online businesses. Thus, we see that many Indian businesses have started emerging in the domestic and international market, boosting the country’s economy as well as providing a much-needed self-dependent employment ecosystem. Moreover, availing services like applying for Aadhaar or PAN has been digitalized too which makes the process easier and more efficient.

The Covid-19 pandemic best highlighted the digitalization of daily life. With every physical contact-based activity being suspended for a considerable period of time, digitalization of daily life was the only option. Education was made digital through online classes conducted through apps like Google meet. Use of various online software for daily activities increased. Even the healthcare sector had been digitalized. It can be insisted that a rapid digitalization of daily life was what helped us avoid stagnancy. Thus, one can easily witness their digitalized life wherever they look.

Essay on Digitalization (1199 Words)

February 9, 2018 by Manasi Shewale 3 Comments

Table of Contents

What is Digitalization?

Digitalization is more commonly known as digitization of things and is basically the concept of converting all the human readable data into a computer readable data.

The human readable data (analog format) is our normal script which includes numbers, languages, etc. but a computer readable data (digital format) is different from the human readable data as it is in the binary format or in the form of bits.

There is another concept of digitalization in India which involves using the digitization technologies and adapting to them in our day to day.

This campaign is launched by the Government of India. Its main objective is to provide all the facilities to the citizens through internet.

For example, applying for any document online, instead of going to the government office and waiting in the long queue to get your chance of even getting the offline application form.

Is there a difference between Digitization & Digitalization?

Yes, there is a difference between digitalization and digitization. The term digitization simply means converting your physical data into its digital version.

And the term Digitalization means adapting to the already digitized material.

For example, a person learns to use the online system of applying for a domicile certificate instead of going to the government office, taking the application form, filling and submitting it back to the office. This process is called as digitalization.

The process of digitization of your data does not mean that your physical data will be destroyed; it simply means that there will be a digitalized copy of your physical data.

It is more of a technical process than the process of digitalization. The process of digitalization is much of a maintaining process of the digitized data or digitization.

There is another concept called ‘digital transformation’ which can be explained as a broader definition of digitalization and on a larger scale affecting a larger group of population.

This transformation is only achieved when there is a complete adaptation to the concept of Digitalization.

Why Digitalization?

The process of digitalization in a country is a very huge step and requires a lot of time to settle with the idea of not using the traditional methods of business transaction but switching to an online format.

The digital transaction is a very time saving and handy concept as it requires only a computer and the proper internet connection along with the personal information regarding the transaction.

India has just stepped into the world of digitalization; therefore, it will take time to adapt to it. But it is definitely a call of digital evolution for a developing country like India.

Whenever any business or government institution introduces the digital aspect of transaction it is not easy for the citizens to adapt to it over a night.

The newly introduced online format will first be tested by the citizens if it’s reliable or not and if it is really qualitative (as we all know every facility provided to the common man matters only if its quality is good).

Over a period of time, the citizens then adapt to the concept of digitalization. India has stepped into the world of full/complete Digitalization and is making its way through the various ideas and aspects of digitalization and therefore, adapting to it.

Digital India: A Dream turned into a Reality

Digital India can also be referred to as a National Movement to achieve digital transformation which was launched two and a half years ago on 01/06/2015.

The main objective of this programme is to make India digitally strong among all the other developed as well as developing countries.

As it is of common knowledge that use of the internet and the new developing communication technologies is increasing day by day.

It has now reached to such a point that the human race has become dependent on the Internet facilities. Therefore, to promote and facilitate this new evolving concept of digitalization, the Government has launched a programme called “ Digital India ”.

Digitalization targets many different digital challenges faced by the Society which include provision of proper broadband highway, to provide proper mobile connection services (communication services), information for all sections of the society varying in age, gender and occupation.

This scheme also focuses on providing job opportunities through various schemes mainly the Make in India scheme.

The main motive of this programme is to provide the digital infrastructure, all the government services in a digitalized manner and to spread literacy via the internet.

Digital Infrastructure refers to the infrastructure or basic amenities required to carry out proper digital transactions.

This may include providing the software required for digital transaction, the cloud services for storage of the records entered in the different government schemes and applications, providing with the knowledge of how to avail the digital services, etc.

The government services (e-government services) which include applying for various documents like domicile certificates, caste certificates, income certificates, etc. by using the online facility is the secondary objective of the government.

The third very important and urgent objective is to make each and every Indian citizen a literate citizen of this country. The more the literacy rate, more will be the development rate of the country.

By providing the digital services the government will make sure that the knowledge is spread to the citizens living in remote areas as well as the poorest citizens of the country.

The maximum population of India belongs to the rural area and is surviving on an agricultural occupation. Therefore, these sections of the population need to be supported by providing them with all the education facilities as well as occupational facilities and for this, the most convenient option is the digital scheme launched by the government.

Another concept which is most widely seen is that of online education and working online that is in a virtual environment where all the communication happens over email or phone calls.

Online Education is a new concept but is being accepted by the young generation at a very fast rate. This involves taking courses or getting education i.e. gaining knowledge about any interesting topic through internet facilities.

There are different schemes launched by the government for the people working in various sectors to promote digitalization as well as to assure the people that it is a reliable, quick and a beneficial transformation.

Digitalization not only saves time but also allows the applicant to get maximum benefit from the respective scheme. For example, we must have heard a lot of times that the schemes launched by the government do not reach till the common man because there is corruption in the middle and therefore, the people can not avail the financial benefits.

To reduce this corruption in the middle of the process there is a direct connection now made by the government in the form of e-government services.

Digitalization is the process of converting existing processes into digital forms. After the emergence of the internet, digitalization has set its foot in the world. India is also influenced by the impact of digitalization and hence the government has adopted the “Digital India” campaign in the year 2015. This was done to promote and enjoy the applications of the internet throughout the country. Digitalization plays an important role in the social and economic growth of the country. Many fields like banking, healthcare, education, etc have adopted the significance of digitalization to a great extent.

Digital means are much faster than humans with nearly zero error rates. Hence, it makes our job simple and time-saving. Digitalization is profitable as it saves our money and efforts. Today most of the work can be done easily and efficiently with the help of digital technologies. Mobile phones with the internet are like power in our hands. Different applications of digitalization are now a part of our daily lives.

However, this modern era of digitalization is separating us socially. People who don’t have much knowledge of emerging technology have been badly affected by digitalization. Also, depending on digital means is reducing human job opportunities as modern technology requires highly skilled workers. Privacy and security concerns reflect the bad side of digitalization. With the increasing applications of digital technologies, the rates of cybercrimes are also rising.

Long Essay on – 21 st Century: The Era of Digitalization (1400 Words)

Introduction

On 1 July 2015, the government of India launched the “Digital India” campaign. The main motive of this campaign is to ensure that all the government facilities should reach the rural areas electronically. The digital revolution aims to reduce corruption and settle transparency in the government system.

What is Digitalization/ History

Digitalization refers to the process of enhancing existing business processes with the help of new digital technologies. Digitalization began in the 20 th century after the emergence of computers.

The first instance of digitalization was seen in the banking system. Keeping all the records digitally instead of noting down in papers proved very useful. After that, the emergence of ATMs (Automated Teller Machines) was a revolutionary introduction in banking sectors.

Then various online trading platforms come into play. There have been notable developments in the field of payment networks, internet banking, etc.

By 2019, most of the companies had adopted digital transformation. Technologies like Google, Facebook, amazon, etc become part of our day-to-day life.

The healthcare sectors have increased their fields using various digital appliances. Now, digitalization can be seen in every field whether it is the financial sector, automotive sector or business processes.

Digitalization vs Digitization vs Digital Transformation

Many people get confused with these terms and think that all of these are the same but are different terms connected to each other.

Digitization is the prerequisite for digitalization as it makes use of digitized information in its process.

For example, writing an article in a digital document is referred to as digitization but uploading it to the network so that everyone can use it, is referred to as digitalization.

Digital transformation is the superset of digitalization. The complete transformation or conversion of any firm or business process into digitalization is termed as digital transformation.

Digitalization upgrades the existing process. However, it does not change the process. But the complete shift of the existing non-digital process to digital process is termed as digital transformation.

Purpose of Digitalization

The main purpose of digitalization is to turn non-digital applications to digital applications. Some purpose of digitalization includes:

  • Increase efficiency of the system
  • Reduced cost and higher productivity
  • Automation for human ease
  • Reduce unwanted risk

Applications of Digitalization

  • Digitalization in Banking: Digitalization has increased the efficiency of the banking sector. Now, banks provide us the facility to send money to anyone from anywhere. We need not to go to banks to check the balance. Digital currency and digital payments are taking the world to a new direction. The RBI is trying to settle cashless India.
  • Digitalization in Education: Education became interesting for the students only due to the emergence of digital technology. Learning with the help of videos and animations make it easier for children to grasp the topic quickly. Various online courses along with digital textbooks are available to modify the education sector.
  • Digitalization in Agriculture: A huge advancement is seen in the field of agriculture. It also increased agricultural productivity. Farmers can seek help from technologies for soil analysis or to check favorable weather for crops.
  • Digitalization in Business: Digitalization has increased the efficiency of business processes in many ways. It helped to increase productivity with less operational cost. It also helped people to set up local businesses with great profit.
  • Digitalization in Healthcare: Healthcare facilities are improved with the use of digital technologies. Patients are treated with high technological devices. It also helped doctors to do research, explore the disease and cure. However, it also helped in keeping proper patients and doctors’ records. Wearable devices like Fitbit bands are helpful in minor health control.

Advantages and Disadvantages/ Challenges of Digitalization

Some advantages of digitalization are as follows:

  • Quick Access to Information: With the help of newer technologies, it is easy to access information through the internet anytime from anywhere.
  • Saves Time: Most of the work can be done online through mobile phones. In fact, we need not to go to banks or any physical stores, everything can be done online.
  • Saves Money: Since humans can do everything by sitting at their home therefore, the travelling money is saved.
  • Ease to Communication: Now, we can communicate with people sitting in any corner of the world. Video callings are very common these days.
  • However, we all are well aware of the famous saying “most good things come with bad thing”. And so is digitalization. Some disadvantages are listed below:
  • Required Skilled Workers: Due to advancement in things, skilled workers are required to operate the devices and also to rectify the problem.
  • Privacy: Digital technology keeps the record of different individuals and organizations on the network. All the data and information are managed on the network therefore; it is very difficult to protect the privacy.
  • Security Threat: Networks are the hub for cyber-crimes. Security threats like hacking are a major concern while using digital technologies.
  • Addiction: Some digital technologies like social media, online games, etc are very addictive. This results in wastage of time.
  • Less Social Interaction: Today everyone is using digital means to communicate with each other. The physical interaction is decreasing day by day. Due to which humans can feel isolation and are easily prone to depression.

Impact of Digitalization in Indian Economy

The impact of digitalization has proved fruitful for the economy of India. The government of India is taking various steps to digitalize the country, so that people enjoy its various services.

Digitalization is also responsible for the development of the country. Digitalization also affects the growth of the economy in various ways. Setting up new job opportunities for youths successfully helped in flourishing the economic growth.

The government of India has taken many steps to digitalize India. The Indian government came up with the concept of e-Governance, in order to digitalize and improve the government services. In 2006, the government proposed the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). But the results were not very significant.

In 2015, the government of India proposed “Digital India”. The concept of “Cashless India” was pushed forward and is working very well. According to the government it could be helpful in reducing the case of terrorism and money laundering in the country.

Digitalization during Covid Pandemic

During the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, there has been a massive shift toward digitalization. It protected the safety and well-being of humans to a great extent. More human gathering is responsible for more spread of the virus. Therefore, in order to save oneself from the pandemic, everyone needs a contactless medium to lead a peaceful life. This was greatly fulfilled by digital technologies.

Huge transformation is seen in the field of education. Students can carry out their studies without going to schools. Online schooling helped children to continue their class from home.

The new technologies helped researchers to “track and trace” the outbreak of pandemic. In order to fight this pandemic, it was very important to have complete knowledge of the outgoing in the country. People were well aware of the rising cases and dangers of this pandemic.

New devices helped doctors in understanding the effects of Covid-19. They were working hard with the help of various digital technologies to stop the spread of the pandemic. However, the process of vaccination was held easily due to digitalization.

Contactless banking and payments methods helped people to carry out their tasks. Online grocery, online pharmacies, online recharge and bill payments would help to control the wide spread of Corona virus in the country.

Future of Digitalization

After noticing the importance of digital technologies in our daily life, we can say that digitalization has become the need of the hour. The live example is the Corona pandemic. The battle with this virus was possible only because of digitalization.

The modern public requires modern techniques. Humans are addicted to the taste of technologies; therefore, they are expecting more new technologies to simplify their job. New technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) are considered as the future of the nation.

However, the era of digitalization is bringing a promising future for the world.

Digitalization is all about the internet. Therefore, it is considered as the backbone of digitalization. In order to shift India from developing country to developed country the adoption of Digitalization is important. However, it does involve some risks, challenges and disadvantages but we cannot neglect its importance in our day-to-day life.

I hope the above given essay on digitalization would be helpful for you. I have tried to keep the language easy for your better understanding.

The term ‘Digitalization’ refers to the conversion of paper mode or typewritten information (text) into the digital form. It shows all about the replacement of the ‘old school system’ with the ‘new school system’. Education is a basic need for every learner and digital education is the current trend. Digital education helps one learn and understand everything quicker. In the traditional education system, we were mostly dependent on the textbook or the instructor’s speech.

There is a good and positive impact of ICT including Computer-Assisted Instruction. The digitalization of education not only does not solve the existing problems but also creates new ones. These new ones will be creating gaps between humans making them more of a machine and less of a being. Digitalization has extremely positive outcomes but the negative outcomes are also equally impacting the system. With the change in the process of gaining knowledge, there will be great change in the extent of the knowledge and also the effectiveness of the knowledge. If the whole of the education is digitalized then the usage of the knowledge won’t be very impactful and won’t be reaching the targeted space because it will be more like communication between machines and less like the knowledge transfer.

Though digitalization does not always make a positive statement, there is extensive utilization in any sector that can be named. It is playing a great role in the minds of young students, they consider it to be an inherent part of the decision-making process.

Introduction

Education is an important section of society. Only with the betterment of education, society will develop, leading to national development. Almost the whole world is following the traditional method of education. This is being followed since the start of the world. The information available/ required then was very less when compared to current days. Because of this, the traditional way is very effective. The world was gradually developing then but now the world is developing at rocket speed. Hence teaching methods also should be updated and digitalized to catch up with the speed of the world.

Digitalization of education is the need of the hour. With digitalization, there will be equality of educational opportunities to a great extent. Both teachers and learners should be updated regarding the usage of digital media for education. There can be formal and informal education. Formal education is when the syllabus is set and education is provided based on the syllabus. Informal education is when there is no limit or any restriction, one can get all the possible information. This paper will further explain the actual implementation of digitalization, impacts of formal and informal learning, customization of syllabus path as per individual requirement under formal learning, advantages, and possible ways to reduce the disadvantages.

Traditional Education

Traditional Education forced students to go to a place and sit together with fellow students and learn from one lecturer. Every student has a different speed of understanding and visualizing the concepts. Up to some point, students can memorize the answers but after a point, this becomes meaningless. This will change the meaning of Education itself. Education means learning new things but memorizing anything without proper understanding is not Education.

The traditional Education system definitely plays a vital role in building a personality. When it comes to education, it is not just what is present in the books, it is also how to behave and how should one be thinking. Traditional Education teaches to behave. It teaches about manners, law, rules, harmony, humanity, friendship, society, etc. It will make a person a good citizen of the country.

ii)Limitations:

Education should be building the capability to apply knowledge. But with all the education system focusing on the marks and grades, students don’t understand the meaning of the application of knowledge. Memorizing comes into the picture when one fails to understand something. One fails to understand in class because their pace will be different from that of others. Traditional Education means, getting stuck at memorizing because of different speeds and learning together in class.

Traditional Education has a good number of limitations too as known. The student fails to understand when the teaching is not as per their standard and not in a comfortable place. Some day, when the student is not able to attend the class, s/he will be missing the whole class and that will never be repeated as it is. Traditional Education also makes students with fragile minds get distracted very soon.

People, who have done their education under the traditional method, fail to apply it in a complete practical environment. That is because they were taught sitting in class and made to write exams purely based on their ability to remember things.

Meaning of Digitalization

Digitalization is nothing but using technologies in the required job. In the considered case, it is the digitalization of education. It is nothing but using technology in education. When technology is used, education becomes very understandable and effective. When technology is used, the whole of the teaching method will be changing. It will be more effective and efficient. Digitalization will help any person from anywhere to access the required information and know more things. It will be very effective in the application of knowledge. By using the technology, all the concepts can be practically explained. With access to data from anywhere, there can be a good number of repetitions of the same classes by the same person. It will be defining education to the next level.

Importance of Digitalization

I)customization of technology:.

The selection of the technology is very important. Unnecessary and excess use of technology can cost one his/her privacy. We can use the technology depending on our needs. Technology can be used to pictorially explain any complicated process in the best way possible. When an average student watches the video, s/he might not forget the concept explained. There can be such many complicated concepts that need to be explained in a very right way. One can record the session with the help of technology and reuse the information for better application

ii) Opportunities:

With Digitalization, there will be many opportunities provided to a very large group of people. Sometimes, it so happens that people will be very much interested to expand their knowledge but due to the lack availability of the sources they won’t be learning it much. With technology, the source of knowledge will be less restricted. Anyone from any part of the world can access information and gain knowledge.

Digitalization has transformed the education system radically, in the classroom, and outside the classroom. In the classroom, the capacities of teachers developed using high-quality digital content and innovative models. Digitalization opens up education to people who wouldn’t be able to afford or access it otherwise.

Using data to personalize and streamline learning can significantly enhance student outcomes. Platforms  can be used by teachers, students, and parents to modify tutorials and specifically recommend videos and exercises based on a student’s ability. This allows teachers to monitor progress over time using real data and even allows students to set their own goals with immediate feedback from their teachers and parents. The education paradigm is shifting and evolving with innovations, research, and development changing how we teach and learn for the better.

iii) Time consumption:

The time consumed to implement and customize the digitalization of education is high but they are equally impactful. For example, the creation of one such video of 2 hours might cost 5-6 hours but when the video reaches the target, all the 2 hours watched by the target audience will be worth it. So, digitalization will consume time sometimes in the beginning but will provide good results later on.

One of the results of digitalization is online classes. When the classes are held online, the time consumed is less, the cost is less, involvement in teaching is more, effective understanding one will be in one’s comfort zone. One can even record the sessions to revisit later. The time consumed when the information is available online is very less at the receiving but more at the providing end.

Considering the COVID situation where the whole country is shut, one can not think of attending the education traditionally for the only reason that it is unsafe. The best alternative is the digitalization of education. With all the available technology, the knowledge gaining process needs no stop at all, one can go on and on. There will ample amount of time-saving and so much knowledge available. Digitalization is the need of the hour now. One can not proceed without the digitalization of education. Education is redefined as the system of knowledge flow and not purely as a memorization competition.

With all the digitalization of education, under the considered circumstances, one can gain a great amount of information and valid knowledge at the fingertip. This is making a new way to the education sector. There will be so much saving because of this in certain situations. For instance, if there was supposed to be any talk from a leader, a hall was supposed to be booked and all other required arrangements should be done. But now, everything is a click away. Education is more meaningful now as there is all the required information available to everyone and whoever needs it, can make the best use without having to spend any resources.

i)Digital Learning Is Making Students Self-Motivated and More Accountable: Since digital learning is far more interactive and memorable than voluminous textbooks or one-sided lectures, they provide better context, a greater sense of perspective, and more engaging activities than traditional education methods. This allows students to better connect with the learning material. Further, they often offer a more interesting and involving way to digest information. This is reflected in their retention rates and test scores. Also, when students can track their own progress it can improve motivation and accountability.

ii)Digital Learning Tools Involve Educators and Parents to a Deeper Extent: Apart from educators, parents can use interactive activities to encourage their child’s interest in learning since gamification makes the process much more enjoyable and interesting. Parents can also explore online learning activities with their child which can serve as an extension to what they are learning in their classrooms. Digital learning tools and technology provide enjoyment for kids as well as numerous benefits in terms of developing a child’s well-being. Everyone benefits from the digitization of learning.

iii)Digital Learning Tools and Technology Is Rapidly Increasing Information Sharing: Digital learning tools and technology enable educators to rapidly share information with other educators in real-time. The explosion of free and open content and tools has created an environment of sharing economy. By embracing digital devices and connected learning, classrooms around the country and the globe can not only coordinate with one another to share insights but also boost learning, experience, and communication skills. The practice also allows educators to enjoy a level playing field. Schools can save money while ensuring equitable access to educational material as expensive private schools.

iv)Increasing Students’ Employability with Digital Learning Tools and Technology: Equipping students with the requirements of higher education and holding a career at a young age has become one of the most crucial responsibilities of school education. Digital learning solutions based on problem-based learning emphasize learning methods that are constructive, collaborative, and calls the students’ attention to a real-world approach to learning.

Disadvantages:

  • Infrastructure: particularly affordable broadband at home
  • More of the same: the risk of layering technology on top of how we’ve always done school with little benefit
  • Old paradigms: teachers, administrators, and parents trapped in an old model
  • Management and scheduling: customized learning will require much better management and scheduling tools
  • Preparation & development: leaning new tools will be the easy part, learning new roles will be more challenging particularly as school models proliferate
  • Obsolesce: constantly changing software and hardware versions make it tough for schools to stay current (but cloud computing will help)
  • Interoperability: there lots of engaging content and cool apps but nothing works together
  • Security and cheating: technology will solve some problems but introduce other challenges.

Limitations:

While the internet is an effective way to learn more information in less time, student-to-student interaction and student-to-teacher interaction are also an important part of elementary, middle, and high school.  It is important because of the hands-on experiences of a classroom that normally does not compare to the hands-on experiences of the internet, but also for the social aspect of school.  Being in a classroom with the same roughly thirty people every day helps you to create friends and gain social skills that will be essential throughout life, whether it is in a job interview or in just gaining friends and having people around you when you needed.  These social skills can be just as important throughout life as one’s intelligence, for example, these skills could be the reason someone does or does not get a job.  On top of these social skills, student-to-student interaction as well as student-to-teacher interaction is also a vital part of learning and could add another element that the internet does not have.  This interaction has the opportunity to teach children more because of the face-to-face aspect of the classroom.  Both hands-on approaches are effective.  For example, it is easier and much more time convenient for a teacher to clarify questions if she is well educated on the topic than it has been to find the answer on the internet promptly.  In many cases though, if the teacher does not know the answer to a question, the internet is a great resource to clarify questions.  Sometimes finding an answer to an exact question can be difficult on the internet and could cause students to waste timing looking through countless pages of search results.  Furthermore, backing up the statement that learning how to form an answer versus knowing how to search for an answer is much more useful in situations such as this.  Sometimes when it comes to the internet versus a classroom the classroom is a better option, but if the internet is used in a classroom it can add to the effectiveness of teaching.

Conclusions:

Digitalization of the education is future of education. The traditional method is turning out to be less effective. But implementing the whole of the Digitalization concept also might not be the right decision. The situation says that there should be the right blend of traditional and digital education so that the value of the education will be the same and also the flow of knowledge will be better than before. The right source to right target flow is very much important. With the help of digitalization, education and its application of education will be significantly improved.

Digitalization in daily life

essay of 400 words on digitalization in daily life

Admittedly, “digitalization” is a term that describes a vast field. It starts with reading newspapers on the Internet and does not end with electronic injection in the car engine. Digitalization can allow, facilitate, and enable many things, but it can also complicate, make complicated, and many unrealizable things. The fact is that digitalization is an integral part of our daily lives. The only question is how much digitalization we as humans can endure, or how and where we can benefit from it in practice.

As a digital agency, DeSight Studio® naturally thinks again and again about where the digital business field is developing. Trends become recognizable, and adaptations of existing web presences become necessary. At the same time, the human element must never be disregarded in this equation. After all, it is people (users) who have to work and deal with technical developments and innovations. Here the limits of acceptance are reached very quickly – or in other words: to be accepted, digitalization must be used intelligently.

What does ” digitization ” actually mean? It starts with networked end devices such as the refrigerator and ends again with air taxis. DeSight Studio – to make the path to digitization a little easier!

In general, digitization is expected to bring monetary added value: lower costs, higher output, business intelligence, artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, robot banking, and, of course, the much-quoted automation. However, in daily life, both customers and employees (still) appreciate classic human-to-human communication, which differs in many ways from human-to-machine communication and interaction. Although technology is making enormous progress, empathy, emotion, and intuition can hardly be substituted by digital algorithms. Gestures, language, and intuition create trust, which forms the basis for business transactions. In the coming years, digitization will still be used as supportive assistance – but the next development step is imminent.

From this point of view, the question is not whether digitization should be used, but how much scanning can be used – this threshold value will shift more and more towards automation. As always, this stocktaking begins with an analysis of the company’s services and products. The question is in which market environment one moves, how much consultation is necessary, and what value customers place on human interaction. In the course of an application for real estate financing and the reallocation of earlier loans around the establishment of a company, we will attach great importance to the personal contact with the bank consultant. With the average Amazon order, on the other hand, we are even happy not to have any contact with the seller at all.

As is so often the case, the networking of man and machine – and digitization is nothing else – must take the middle course. Digitization must bring benefits, e.g., through:

Customer information can be found more easily and used by salespeople.

Acceleration of processes in companies, if all participants profit from it.

More intuitive and more comfortable use of new IT solutions.

Deep linking of electronic and individualized contacts to prospects and customers.

Digitalization is not an end in itself, but a means to an end. It is people who work with it and whose needs, wishes, and objectives must always be the focus of attention. This simple basic idea is, at the same time, a springboard for exciting further developments in the company’s sphere of activity.

The Digital India campaign was launched in 2015 by our Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi. The goal of this campaign was to provide internet connectivity to rural areas, launch applications that facilitate online payments as well as move businesses and other institutions online so that they can better connect with the world. The campaign aimed to create a stable digital infrastructure in the country and help people easily access government services digitally.

Today, almost every household in India has a smartphone. People are using the internet to study, build their businesses, learn new things, send and receive money, buy various things as well as access government facilities such as healthcare. The Digital India campaign has helped a lot in modernising India.

We are currently living in a digital world which is becoming more and more technologically advanced as days go by. There was a time when we had to go to markets to buy groceries, visit banks to deposit or withdraw money, go to railway stations to book tickets and attending school always meant going to a physical place.

Now, one can buy everything from groceries to luxury products by global brands with just one click. One can book cabs, buses, trains and flights online as well as plan their vacation and stay. Even our education system has evolved and become digitalised. Now, students can attend lectures and even take examinations online.

For India, 2015 was a big year because it was in this year that our Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, launched the “Digital India” campaign. This campaign aimed to provide internet connectivity to rural areas, launch applications that facilitate online payments as well as move businesses and other institutions online so that they can better connect with the world.

The campaign indeed helped people understand the benefits of digitalisation. Now, almost every household in India has a smartphone. People are using the internet to study, build and grow their businesses as well as to learn new things. Apart from all these things, the campaign also helped create a stable digital infrastructure in the country and allowed people to easily access government services digitally.

Gone are the days when we had to go to markets to buy groceries, visit banks to deposit or withdraw money, go to railway stations to book tickets and attend school always meant going to a physical place. Today, one can buy everything from locally-sourced groceries to luxury products produced by global brands with just one click. One can book cabs, buses, trains and flights online as well as plan their vacation and stay. Even our education system has evolved and become digital. Now, students can attend lectures and even take examinations online.

Until a few years ago, while the rest of the world was already reaping the benefits of digitalisation, India was still far behind. Most of our villages had no internet connectivity and even many people living in urban areas were digitally illiterate.

On 1st July 2015, our prime minister, Mr Narendra Modi, launched a campaign called “Digital India” with the goal of providing internet connectivity to rural areas, launching applications that facilitate online payments as well as moving businesses and other institutions online so that they can better connect with the world. The campaign aimed to create a stable digital infrastructure in the country, help people easily access government services digitally as well as increase digital literacy.

Under the Digital India campaign, many UPI applications were launched that facilitated online payments and thus, helped the economy. This helped boost India’s GDP. Because of digitalisation, paperwork in every sector of work has been reduced which is a great benefit. The digitalisation of India has also boosted the small business market in the country as more and more people are going online with their businesses. This has helped connect buyers and sellers from all parts of the country.

Although the digital India campaign has been greatly successful, it did face a few challenges when it was first launched. A huge population of the country was digitally illiterate, the digital infrastructure wasn’t very stable, and even the speed of the internet being provided was pretty low. There was also a lack of coordination amongst various departments participating in the programme.

However, the campaign managed to overcome all the challenges and India emerged as the second-fastest digital adopter among the major digital economies in the world. Today, India has come a long way in terms of digitalisation and the “Digital India” campaign has played a major role in it.
