Long and Short World Environment Day Speech

World environment day speech – 1 (500 words, 5 minutes speech).

Good Morning Friends!

World Environment day is celebrated annually on 5 th June across the world. We have assembled here to make plans for this year celebration. Our company always advocate green environment and preservation of nature. You must be aware that the technology used in our manufacturing unit also supports green environment. We are highly the promoters of green India; our production units are well equipped with latest machines and equipment that consume less water and energy, thus causing less wastage of water and energy. The unit releases no or less pollutant or poisonous gases, which also preserves nature, water and the environment ultimately.

In order to strengthen our country and the world, it is important that the nature is preserved. The mushroom growth factories and manufacturing units has also led to the explosion of pollution, rays, gas, dust, etc which is deteriorating the quality of air we are breathing in, water we are consuming everyday and the environment we are surviving in.

The state government has given us this responsibility to create awareness amongst the factory owners, business tycoons and manufacturing units to share the benefits of green technology. In the same regards, we’ll be organising a meeting soon in which we will inform them about the technologies we use to preserve the nature.

We are also appealing to common people across India to plant trees, clean up the surroundings and take actions against those that harm animals. We also request people to save water and energy at their respective places as much as possible.

At this forum, I would also highlight some of the diseases related to unhygienic living conditions and dirty water. Water is the main source of energy, but if it remains stagnant or unclean then it becomes the source of several dangerous diseases such as Dengue, Malaria, etc. It, therefore, becomes important that every individual owns his/her social responsibility and take all the preventive measures to cover the uncovered water like tanks, pots or coolers.

Now let’s discuss about the disposal of garbage; it is been wildly observed that many people throw used-litter in the open area. Our government has taken steps and fixed the ‘Green coloured’ and ‘Blue coloured’ dustbins at almost every public place. It is sincerely appealed to the people to kindly use those dustbins and use the colour symbol correctly for the wet and dry garbage.

Life can be very simple and fulfilling if we follow certain principles and trust me; these simple formulas cost no money and involve no hassles yet prove to be very effective.

World Environment Day is celebrated to raise awareness about nature and the significance of protecting environment for present and future. For sustaining life on this planet Earth, it is critical that the world’s forests, oceans and soils are preserved and these act as great stores for greenhouse gases like methane and carbon dioxide; fisher-folk and farmers bind nature in order to provide us with food. Scientists and researchers develop medicines using these natural products since ages.

Nature’s gifts are rare and cannot be purchased from money. It is important that each one of us wake up before it’s too late. Don’t smoke in the public places or dump garbage in the open area. These small beginnings will certainly lead to a better place for survival.

World Environment Day Speech – 2 (500 Words, 5 Minutes Speech)

Dear friends, hope you all are enjoying your day so far. Thank you for being a part of this celebration. We all have gathered here to celebrate the World Environment Day which commemorate every year on 5 th June. I have been given this opportunity to host the programme this year and I promise to utilize this platform to the fullest.

What is environment? Many of you must be feeling surprised and some of you must be finding me stupid as I ask this question. Environment is our immediate surrounding and in recent times we have been hearing a lot of debates, discussion, events, occasions, etc around saving the environment. I often wonder if it is really such a grave issues that invites a lot of debates and discussions! Well, the answer is ‘Yes’. We have made it critical. Man is surprisingly the creation of God who creates and destroys its own surroundings. We are smart and intelligent enough to know what pollutes the environment and what are the ways to protect it; but still we choose to remain silent and inactive.

The celebration of World Environment Day provides people with an opportunity to come forward and know the reasons behind the deterioration of our environment and discuss various means and methods to save and preserve it. Started in 1974, this day has grown and become a global platform for public outreach that is broadly celebrated across the world.

Our school celebrates this day with equal enthusiasm and zeal as we strongly believe that good manners must be taught to people since their childhood itself. I have seen that children are highly excited and start the preparation in advance. Every year, we celebrate this day with different themes. This year, our theme is ‘Plant trees and make the surrounding green’. Every student has to write an essay on this theme, decorate their respective classes in Green all with natural materials; you can use leaves, grasses, etc. The winning students in the essay competition and the winning class will receive exciting prizes. Besides this, each student will be provided with a plant for planting at home, park, garden or at any place which seems appropriate. Students are requested to get a photograph clicked while planting and interestingly top five pictures would get published in our annual school magazine.

It is also essential that we educate our children not to pollute their homes, roads, schools or living surrounding with litter such as empty can, chips, chocolate wrappers, etc. No wonder, we instil these habits at the school level, but parents should also take their due responsibilities and educate kids about the significance of the Green and Blue dustbins. Children shouldn’t be allowed to de-root small plants in the park, gardens or road sides. Grown up people should be mindful not to smoke at the public places and save the air from getting polluted. Water at every place should be kept covered, no energy and water should be wasted and garbage and litter shouldn’t be burnt in the open environment.

As much important it is to preserve nature, it is equally simple. All we have to do is just be little aware, cautious and responsible.

Speech on World Environment Day – 3 (500 Words, 5 Minutes Speech)

Good morning respected principal, teachers and my dear friends,

For addressing the assembly today, I have been assigned the topic ‘World Environment Day’.

My dear friends, what does environment mean to you all? It is the natural world, our surroundings. This World environment day is the day especially devoted to address our overall environment and the issues that presently exist in our environment. Our immunity and well being directly depends on the situation of the environment. Bad the environment bad is our living and vice versa.

Due to various human activities the quality of environment in which we live is deteriorating. And the rate of this decline is too quick or too high if I may say. Human should necessarily work on their activities like industrialization, deforestation, technological development, global warming, pollution, waste management, etc. If they wish to live in a safe and healthy environment. On this day we should recognize the need of how important environment is to us and at present what all issues have taken place in this environment. It is us who can work on making things better and this is not only for us but for good of others as well.

This day aims to engage and draw attention of all the citizens of the world including political and health organizations to be more specific across the globe from different countries. And, to make them curious about making new plans and implementing them for the betterment of the environment. A healthy and safe environment is the way towards the happy and more progressive future. Government should lay down more projects just like swachh bharat to make people more attached to the environment’s maintenance.

We tend to put everything on to the legal and political entities solely for the initiation of such plans and acts that bind us for being active towards the environment. We people have all the right and authority to do our bit for having a safe and healthy environment. By growing more trees, discarding waste properly, evading the pollution, use of solar energy, etc are very few things which one made necessary will help us in having live in a great environment.

We all should create awareness on large scale amongst the population on maintaining the sustainable environment by ensuring correct and minimal use of the natural resources and doing our bit by doing the earlier mentioned few tasks. Stabilized environment today will help in the better maintenance of the coming future generations as well. We all have to be cautious about everything that we do, as each of the minute thing done adds on to the pool of adverse things impacting the environment. People should necessarily link themselves to the different acts of the government that focus on environment maintenance and should make more people gathered at the special seminars and sessions organized on this day.

Safe environment is a healthy well being of humans, plants and animals. We must attain the final result of safe environment. Thank You everyone!

Speech on World Environment Day – 4 (500 Words, 5 Minutes Speech)

Good morning my dear friends, we all are gathered here today to acknowledge the importance of the ‘World Environment Day’. I am obliged to address this topic amongst you all today.

It is very very important for us to live in an environment that is safe. The need today is to improve the level and intensity of the global awareness about our environment amongst all. Out of the entire population most of the people are unaware about how important it is to have a sustainable environment. Each year celebration of the world environment day is prepared in accordance with the specific themes and by having specific slogans for that theme to bring success in the campaign around the globe.

We all should focus on doing the deeds that get positives in the environment and tend to stabilize the traits of environment. Sheer focus should be on minimizing the activities that release toxins and population in the air and make the environment unhealthy for the living of man, plants and animals. We ourselves need to stand strong for living in quality surroundings that help us in living a life that is less of diseases and free from the unhealthy zeal of diminished resources.

Every year this day is celebrated to make people aware about the results that occur in environment due to their day to day activities and the issues being faced by each one of us due to these. The other agenda about having this dedicated day is to make people cautious of how important it is to have a safe and healthy environment.

We all should know the importance of the environment. We should work on growing more of the trees so that overcoming other negativities existing currently in the environment become easier and quicker. This day should be attended with utmost importance and every individual should be a part of the seminars, sessions, rallies, etc organized on this day. Though environment is such a crucial topic that addressing it only once a year is not enough but yes, it is good at least for initiating and evaluating our deeds done for the environment throughout the year.

We humans should realize our mistakes and address the existing concerns about the environment in order to keep it of utmost quality. It should be clean, safe and secure for the healthy life of all humans, plants and animals. By adopting few activities we can easily diminish the bad impacts currently happening in the environment. We should make people more aware about how important it is to breathe in a safe quality environment. Thank you! I am sure we all together can surely eliminate the negativities that are present in the environment. Optimized usage of natural resources should be our first target on catering and doing our bit for the environment’s sustainability. We all should support people to create their surroundings secure and clean to enjoy disease free and immune lifestyle along with risk-free, better and successful future.

Thank you all for being a part of this session. Together we all can do the good for our environment. Thank you!

Speech on World Environment Day

Speech on World Environment Day 14 Models

Last updated Friday , 15-03-2024 on 11:21 am

Speech on World Environment Day, this topic is one of the most important topics that occupy the mind of the whole world these days. The land has been greatly affected after the use of chemicals and the increase of various pollutants.

In this topic, we will present an essay that talks about the environment and the risks it faces. We will talk about the types of pollutants and how to preserve the environment from pollution.

Each of us should know the negative impact of our daily actions on the environment and we must all strive to change our habits that destroy the planet with time.

Speech on world environment day

World Environment Day is a special day that was established in 1973 for the first time. Since this date, the whole world celebrates this day every year. The United Nations was the first to organize and call for this day.

The aim of dedicating a specific day each year to the environment, was to make people in all countries of the world know the importance of the environment in which we live. And to identify the different pollutants that pollute air, water, plants.

We will not forget the importance of Environment Day in bringing all countries into contact with each other in order to agree on new scientific ways to protect the environment.

Importance of World Environment Day

Pollution has increased frighteningly, and therefore all countries of the world must gather and search for solutions to this problem that affects the entire planet.

And when a day is set aside, the environment will have everyone’s attention on that day, so that they can present the problems facing each country separately, and then have discussions in order to offer the best solutions.

As for the solutions offered by researchers, they are based on scientific foundations, in order to ensure that we improve the situation within a whole year.

We only own one land

This slogan was launched on World Environment Day in Stockholm in 1972, when the United Nations Environmental Protection Program was launched.

The purpose of launching this slogan was to alert people that they have no alternative to the planet on which they live. That is why we must protect this planet from the three crises that harm the earth. , namely pollution, climate change and biodiversity loss.

This slogan was launched many years ago, but it has gained great importance over time and everyone has become aware of the importance of their planet, which has no alternative.

The problems that threaten the earth

There are several problems that threaten the Earth and cause a noticeable change in the climate. One of the most important of these problems is the high degree of which everyone is beginning to notice.

The reason for the high temperature is the huge pollutants released into the atmosphere. There are several pollutants that cause the temperature to rise, such as smoke from factories, and car exhaust.

There is another type of problem, which is the disappearance of diverse forests that feed on a large number of animals, which has caused the extinction of many species, and this negatively affects the environment.

And the last problem that threatens the environment is pollution of all kinds, which causes great environmental destruction.

How to preserve the environment

All countries must work together to find appropriate solutions that suit the nature of each country, so that people begin to replace pollutants with other things that do not pollute the environment.

There must be great awareness in schools and in the media, so that people understand what are the available alternatives that do not pollute the environment.

Governments should work hard to provide alternatives that do not pollute the environment, that are easy to use and low in cost so that everyone can obtain it.

At the end of our topic for today about World Environment Day, which is dedicated to presenting the problems facing the environment.

After presenting the problems, the specialists begin to find scientific solutions to these problems. We must help specialists in preserving the environment, and use all possible means that preserve the environment from pollution.

These methods vary between rationalization of consumption or recycling, which aims to reduce waste and reuse it.

Environment day speech

Environment Day is a day dedicated to the environment. The environment is everything that exists around us from plants and animals and everything that makes us live on this planet. The environment is what supplies living organisms with all aspects of life such as water, oxygen and food.

Water must be kept clean and pure so that we can drink it and use it to cultivate the land, which makes human health better.

Forests and trees must be preserved because they rid the planet of carbon dioxide, which causes global warming and global warming.

Therefore, it was necessary to allocate a specific day, the aim of which is to raise awareness of the risks facing the environment, and to inform people of the importance of preserving the environment. It was decided that Environment Day will be on June 5 every year.

The first Environment Day was launched in 1973 and continues to this day. The first environmental conference was held in the city of Stockholm, and from that day it began to pay attention to the problems of the earth and the problems of the environment and to try to overcome them gradually.

Environment Day Speech in English

Environment Day is an important day dedicated to solving environmental problems, the most important of which is global warming. Which occurs due to the increase in carbon dioxide emissions from factory waste and vehicle exhaust.

Another problem is the excessive cutting of forests, as their removal reduces oxygen and increases carbon dioxide, which causes global warming and global warming.

What specialists advocate on Environment Day is the establishment of environmentally friendly projects, as they do not cause any kind of environmental pollution.

Governments should be interested in planting new trees rather than those that have been cut down. The reason for planting new trees is that they rid the earth of carbon dioxide. Trees also provide food and housing for huge numbers of living creatures, which keeps them from extinction.

World Environment Day Speech in English

There are several reasons for holding a World Environment Day, including educating people about alternatives that do not pollute the environment.

One of the most important of these alternatives is to use wind and water energy instead of using fossil fuels that pollute the environment.

We must use solar energy in all aspects of our lives, as it is cheap and easily available energy.

Of course, we will not forget to use the water collected behind the dams as clean and environmentally friendly electric energy.

One of the things that World Environment Day is concerned with is the establishment of nature reserves in order to collect endangered animals.

Of the things that are protected are coral reefs and marine life.

One of the most important things that must be prevented in order to preserve marine life is to protect the seas and oceans from pollution.

One of the forms of pollution is that waste is dumped in the water and ships pollute the seas and oceans with  oil residues, which kills marine life.

Short speech on environment day

After environmental scientists knew about the dangers caused by humans over many years, including the large accumulation of plastic materials.

The main reason for the accumulation of plastic is that it does not decompose and the soil cannot swallow it, so it accumulates everywhere.

The solution to the problem of plastic is to reuse it and not throw it away and produce something else.

This process is called recycling, where factories are built specifically for this purpose.

On World Environment Day, we must educate people about the need to stop cutting trees, as huge numbers of trees have been cut down.

The area of cleared forest has reached about 420 million hectares since 1999. Poaching, which kills many species of living creatures, must be prevented.

Among the activities carried out by those in charge of World Environment Day is to pay attention to planting trees and cleaning beaches.

Short speech on world environment day

On World Environment Day, participants are encouraged to offer what they can do in order to mitigate the negative impacts on the environment. One of the most important things that can be provided is that new trees and plants are planted, which will replace the cutting of old trees.

Therefore, people must be made aware of the things that pollute the environment. Everyone should also be encouraged to attend and participate in this special day of celebration and a large number of important events.

When a large number of participants attend, they will be aware of what they should do in their environment, as each person who attended should return to his country and implement what he learned from the good methods that contribute to protecting the environment.

These methods contribute greatly to making the environment clean and improving its climate, which improves the health of the residents of the place.

Topics For Speech on Environment Day

When the World Environment Day activities begin, a country in the world should host this celebration. On this day, there is an opportunity for those concerned with the environment to warn people of the dangers that will occur due to environmental pollution.

After the participants become aware of the damages, they must be introduced to easy and inexpensive solutions that they can use to avoid polluting the environment.

The 5th of June of each year is set to discuss serious problems such as the problem of the ozone layer that threatens the integrity of the planet. When the ozone layer is breached, harmful substances escape from the sun, which the ozone layer was protecting us from. These harmful substances can end life on Earth. Therefore, we must replace the materials that destroy the ozone layer and use other materials that are environmentally friendly.

Environment day speech for kindergarten

Children must know the importance of preserving the environment. That is why the teacher  should explain to them the details of World Environment Day. She tells them in the form of a story about the environment that surrounds them from every direction. The young child must know what behaviors are harmful to the environment and that they must stop doing so.

It is possible for the teacher to use some pictures that show the pollutants that threaten the environment. It is one of the good ways that a child can understand short documentaries, in which everything that happens in the environment such as fires that infect animals and destroy large areas of forests.

The child in the nursery stage should understand the idea of recycling, and when he returns home, he teaches his parents how to dispose of waste properly so that it reaches the recycling plants.

Speech writing on environment day

There are distinct goals for World Environment Day, some of which have been implemented, and specialists are working to implement the rest. And the best thing about this day is that it cares about all the issues that destroy the environment.

One of the most important things that the World Environment Day does is that it tries to make people aware of the problems of the environment, which people should know at the beginning. After people know these problems, they must be introduced to solutions that they can easily and inexpensively implement.

After publishing information that informs people of the problem, the role of those responsible for protecting the environment does not depend on this step, but they must help people in all possible ways in order to implement possible solutions.

World environment day short speech

Humans have discovered that the Earth has no alternative, and they have destroyed it over the course of many years.

When humans began to develop themselves, they used petroleum and coal to power equipment, including the train.

The train was coal-fired in the beginning and with time it was developed until we got to where we are now.

As for the factories, they polluted the environment greatly due to the harmful substances that rise from them. When the population increased, their lives developed rapidly, and humans moved away from nature and turned to everything that was made in factories. Natural food has changed to be replaced by processed food.

Humans left riding horses and using animals for transportation and agriculture, and began inventing and developing cars, which led to significant pollution in the environment.

Humans did not leave the forests in peace, but they  cut them down in order to take the trees and live on their lands.

That is why it was necessary to set a World Environment Day in order to control human developments that are destroying the earth.

Short speech on world environment day for students

If you are a student at any educational level, you must know the importance of the environment in which we live. The environment is the mother that protects her children from dangers and provides them with all the food and protection they need.

If this mother is exposed to any attack or any contamination, she will not be able to protect her children because of the problems she is facing.

This is what happens when we attack the environment with any form of pollution. The environment becomes stressed and unable to protect living organisms.

That is why the major countries have set a specific day on which the environment is celebrated every year, and this day is a day on which several attempts are made to alert people to the danger of environmental destruction to which we all contribute.

Each of us is responsible for the pollution that the environment has reached so far. Whoever drives a car must use clean fuel for it, or drive a bicycle instead of a car, in order to preserve the environment from harmful emissions that have raised the temperature of the earth.

A speech on environment day

If we want to preserve the planet, we must preserve the ecological balance, as the environment plays an important role in the continuation of life on Earth as we know it.

In the environment around us, every living creature has an important role in maintaining balance.

And when we eliminate the habitat of a particular organism, it is exposed to extinction, due to the loss of its home and the food that feeds on it.

Because of the food chain, some organisms feed on other organisms. When an animal becomes extinct, the animal that feeds on it does not find food. With the passage of time the number of animals decreases, both because of the death of the organism on which they feed or because of the destruction of the forests in which they live.

Humans cut down large areas of trees to make homes and furniture, but they did not consider that they were destroying the natural wildlife.

That is why it is necessary to educate people and prevent them from continuing these actions, which are increasing every day and causing great damage.

Welcome speech for environmental day

We must all welcome World Environment Day, because of its great importance. This day was able to spread awareness of the importance of the environment, which many people did not realize. But when countries host these events, it is a good opportunity to articulate the details needed to address and solve environmental problems.

Pollutants have spread all over the planet, as humans use pesticides and toxic chemicals that have polluted the water and the air. Humans used pesticides to kill pests that attack plants. After a while of using it, we discovered that it had contaminated the soil and poisoned the plants.

That is why some countries are turning to ban pesticides, whether for planting or insecticides. These old methods must be replaced by modern ones that are less dangerous to the environment. Including the use of electric detonators to kill insects that enter homes instead of using insecticides. And the use of living organisms to eliminate pests that threaten crops instead of using a poisonous pesticide.

Speech Writing About Environment

Let’s face it- every single time we listen to a speech on the environment, we expect a certain monotony and repetition in terms of the content.

And, this shortens our attention span, all the way more.

Well, it’s sad that a topic as dynamic and relevant as this can bore you to sleep if not presented well.

So, as an orator, how do you still stand out in the crowd?

Here are a few tips for you to master the art of writing a speech about the environment, without bringing the element of monotony.

But, before we dive into the speech writing and delivery lessons, let us have a look at how the environment is an evergreen topic when it comes to public speaking.

Important Environment Days call for Great Speeches

Apart from the fact that ‘the environment’ is a dynamic and ever-present topic, the important environment days spanning throughout the year call for you to get ready with your best speech on the environment. To list a few-

SPEECH WRITING ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT

Let’s break this speech writing guide on the environment into four different sections:

1. Tips to Remember Before You Write Your Speech

2. speech writing lessons on the environment: complete guide , 3. drawing inspiration from ‘great speeches on the environment’  , 4. a sample speech on the environment .

Hold on till the very end of this blog as we have a bonus tip to simplify this process, just for you.

1. Tips to Remember Before You Write your Speech

Crafting a movie requires the crew to plan everything with utmost precision and that’s exactly where the pre-production stage comes to play.

Likewise, before drafting a speech on the environment, you need to focus upon a few things to enhance the speech’s impact on your audience.

At the same time, these tips will help you to stand out in the crowd.

A) Understanding your True Purpose

know your true purpose as a speaker

You possibly cannot deliver a speech about the environment without feeling deeply about the issue.

Firstly, start by questioning yourself, ‘Why should I be concerned about  our environment ?’

Now, start looking for even the slightest changes in your lifestyle in terms of the environment.

These changes can be as evident as the scarcity of water and as ignored as the less appreciation of nature by humans.

This will provide you with the reasons as to how is the issue affecting you?

These reasons can be listed by you during the course of your speech to establish trust, credibility and relatability factor.

Get yourself aware of the urgency of the situation

Go on the internet, research the issue at hand and make yourself aware of the worst-case scenario, that is, ‘what would happen if human beings do not respond now?’

This way, you will connect with the issue emotionally and this will reflect in your voice as you deliver your speech.

You simply cannot expect your audience to feel deeply about the issue unless you yourself feel that emotional connect.

Because somewhere down the corner, we all are responsible for environmental degradation in our own ways.

This realization must first hit you before you convey this idea through your speech.

This emotional connect will reflect in the form of:

  • the content of your speech
  • vocal variety
  • body language

B) Brainstorming Session

mind mapping technique

A speech as informative as this needs to have right facts in just the right amount and at the right places.

The major issue with most of the environmental speeches is that the right facts are not incorporated in the right way.

  • So, begin with researching the issue and note down the environmental facts.
  • Prepare a mind map to better organize your thoughts . Jot down the main points and make a rough skeleton of your speech.
  • Once you have done this, try thinking from an audiences’ perspective . Ask yourself, ‘If I were the audience, what would be my expectations from a speech about the environment?’ Note down those thoughts as well.

Try not to be generic while doing the brainstorming session, include the pointers other speakers have missed out on.

In order to stand unique as an orator speaking about the environment, one must learn from the mistakes made by other speakers.

Understand what exactly is your audience looking for and frame your speech accordingly.

We have written an article on How to add facts in a speech? Check it out to balance your speech about the environment with just the right facts.

C) Who is your audience?

audience analysis

A speech about the environment has a dynamic audience . Thus, it can be delivered at a school, college or even a workplace for that matter.

Understand the demographics of your audience, like age and level of education, to mold your speech accordingly.

For instance, if you are delivering a speech about the environment at school, you might want to include less jargon and break down the content in a much simpler way for the students to understand.

Similarly, if you are delivering an environmental speech at a workplace, you can incorporate jargon along with relatable lifestyle experiences to convey your ideas better.

In a nutshell, formulate the content of your speech according to the audience you are catering to.

D) Duration of the speech

Instead of beating around the bush, a good orator tries to make a long-lasting impact without taking too much time of the audience.

Thus, try to keep your speech short and precise without falling into the trap of possible digressions.

After listening to so many speeches on the environment, we all know our expectations from the next speech we listen about the environment.

Thus, most important of all, prioritize the information and interestingly present that information. This way, you give away the essential information while retaining the attention of your audience.

We have written an article on How to deliver a 1-minute speech: Tips, Examples, Topics & More . Have a look at it to make your speech memorable within a short time frame.

Once you’ve learned this, the next step is to have smooth transitions in your speech. This is done to avoid any sort of blabber and convey the ideas effectively.

To know more about smooth speech transitions, check out Effective Speech Transitions: How to Make Your Speech Flow .

A) Out-Of-The-World Title

A speech about the environment can create a certain monotony in the minds of the audience, even before you actually deliver it.

As an audience, we expect that monotony in the environmental speeches.

Thus, a boring speech title can bore your audience to sleep.

Many a times, we stumble upon a speech title we haven’t ever heard of and are naturally drawn to know more about the speech.

The major issue with most of the environmental speeches in current times is a boring title. Titles like  Speech on Save Environment and Speech on Environmental Degradation  can seem pretty daunting to the audience and might disinterest them.

Instead, consider having a thought-provoking title that doesn’t give the speech idea away so that when the audience actually listens to your speech, they pay more attention and start connecting the dots.

This way, something unusual yet related to your speech can assist you to hold the attention of your audience.

Let’s look at a few interesting speech titles. All based on the environment!

Admit it, we’ve grown old reading that water is an essential pre-requisite for the crops to survive and grow.

But, what happens when a speech title tells you otherwise? You obviously get drawn to listen to the speech.

I’m sure after reading this speech title, you are now wondering, ‘which country is she talking about?’

So, the moment you come across a speech title like this, a sense of conflict has been created in your mind and you naturally want to know more about it.

B) Catchy Introduction

A catchy introduction begins with a strong opening line while bringing into light the main idea of the speech.

The attention span of the audience is at its peak at the beginning of a speech. So, now that you know this, make sure you capitalize it!

Instead of starting your speech with something as bland as a  Good Morning , attempt hitting new approaches to grip the attention of the audience throughout the speech.

The last thing a speech topic as common as the environment needs is a bland introduction.

Thus, working on a strong beginning is the most crucial element when it comes to speech writing about environment.

Here are a few interesting ways to jump start your speech:

Start with a story

We all love listening to stories! Be it fictional or real . It’s a personality trait which we all share in common.

You can start your speech on the environment with a story inspired from your own personal experience or you can create your own story.

But, remember even while creating a story from scratch, you need to sound realistic and establish relatability . So, it’s ideal to avoid any sort of exaggeration on your part.

Once you have decided on the story you wish to tell, remember to connect your story with the environment, in general.

To assist you in this process of crafting a story, we have written an article on 9 Storytelling Approaches for Your Next Speech . Check it out to know more!

In this TED Talk, the speaker begins by telling a story about camping by revisiting his childhood days. This gripped the attention of the audience all the way more.

Bringing the Element of Creativity

Use of adequate props and placards can assist you to add real value to the audiences’ experiences, particularly in a speech about the environment.

Think out-of-the-box and bring this element of creativity the next time you deliver a speech.

By bringing this visual element, you make your speech all the more memorable.

Let’s understand this better with the help of an example.

In this TED Talk about the environment, the orator decides to begin her speech by bringing a small jar. Have a look at how well she connects this prop with the essence of her speech.

C) Relatable Anecdotes

Well, what is the point of delivering a great speech if your audience can’t relate to it?

By stating relatable life experiences, you sound more realistic and believable . As a result, the audience starts respecting your thoughts.

For instance, while delivering a speech about environmental problems and solutions, start discussing how the environmental problems have affected you and your family and what solutions you are considering to deal with it.

Essentially, convey these anecdotes in the form of a story and make sure that these anecdotes are relatable.

D) Body of the speech

Here lies the main purpose of your speech!

It is at this point that you start supporting your ideas with relevant facts and evidence .

In this case, while delivering a speech about the environment, be aware of the real purpose of your speech.

If your speech about the environment is required to list down the solutions to save the environment, try leading the solutions with the micro-level steps which we all can practice in our day-to-day lives and then move onto the solutions at a community level.

Because the major flaw with most of the environmental speeches is that we focus a lot more upon the changes at a government level rather than bringing into light the changes at the individual and community level.

It all begins at home and then the awareness is spread at a community level.

Steer clear of stating the obvious while citing supporting shreds of evidence and think innovatively to come up with information that can actually add value to audiences’ experiences.

E) Drafting a Memorable Conclusion

A captivating conclusion keeps your speech alive in the minds of the audience.

First things first, avoid ending your speech with a bland ‘thank you’.

Instead, in the concluding statement, sum up the gist of your speech and provide the audience with a key takeaway.

To maximize the impact of your concluding remarks, end your speech with a poem or an intriguing question, and leave your audience awestruck by providing them with something to ponder upon.

Check this article to learn effective ways to end your speech with maximum impact.

F) Set the Right Mood

Setting the right tone of the speech is extremely crucial.

This way, you guide your audience to perceive your thoughts in just the intended manner.

You can set the right tone with the help of effective body language , facial expressions and voice modulation.

For instance, while delivering a speech about the environment which demands you to cite the solutions, a sense of hope must be reflected throughout the course of your speech. You can achieve this by sounding optimistic in your voice and having open body language.

In a similar fashion, a speech about the environmental problems would require you to sound empathetic in your voice.

3. Drawing Inspiration from ‘Great Speeches on the Environment’

Saving the environment from consumerism.

Why We Need to Think Differently About Sustainability

4. A Sample Speech on the Environment

“Why should I be studying for a future that soon may be no more, when no one is doing anything to save that future?”, asked Greta Thunberg, and I’m sure we all are in search of an answer to this question, more so in these unprecedented times when the entire world is at a standstill. Environmental depletion, a term we take so lightly, has been increasing with each year passing by. This year (2020 as of writing), Earth Overshoot Day was observed on August 22, exhausting nature’s budget for the year in just seven months. Even as I speak and you listen to this speech, The residents of Goa are raising their voices against an infrastructure plan which is all set to cut through Mollem National Park and destroy the habitat of thousands of animals. Even as I speak, 10,000 clothing items are being sent to landfills every 5 minutes. All because of Fast Fashion! Even as I speak, more than 80 percent of the world population is living under light-polluted skies. All because of light pollution!  And, when we actually reflect upon all of these things, there’s no one to blame but us.  Yet, we choose to remain silent.  So, I ask you today,   Why are we silent? Why don’t we care about the planet we live on?  I believe that by choosing to remain silent over the environmental issues, we are doing a disgrace to the very act of humanity.  Ain’t we ought to save this environment while we still can?  I know that since time immemorial, we have grown up learning about sustainability. In the most literal sense, we PREACH sustainability. But when it comes to bringing that into practice, our values shy away.  All of a sudden, we start to run short of time. You know why? The reason is we don’t appreciate our environment, anymore. And, that’s the root cause that is holding us back in the pathway towards sustainability.  I still remember when I was 10 years old, my father and I had this really nice ritual of going to the park for evening walks. Back then, it just didn’t matter what headspace we’re in, the air of calmness that surrounded the park would just put us at ease. It was THAT therapeutic!   But, coming back to this so-called modern mechanized era, we’ve parted our ways with this ritual. Now, in these times, even the thought of going to a park sounds cliché to all of us!   We need to learn to appreciate, nurture, and love our environment in order to save it. Because it all begins at home! You and I CAN make the difference and now is the time to inculcate sustainable lifestyle habits. The first step here can be as simple as cutting down the waste we produce in the environment. Be it in terms of buying packaged fruits and vegetables from a farmers’ market or making the area you live in litter-free. Moving ahead, the next step might sound a bit difficult because let’s face it- We ALL love shopping! But, when it comes to leading a sustainable lifestyle, minimalism is the key. Start prioritizing every single time you shop for something. When you do this, you value things you own and don’t end up wasting so much.  Gladly, to our relief, the world isn’t that pessimistic. In this age of globalization, we now have people as ‘environmental influencers’ initiating a call for action. Let’s shower our love and support towards them by drawing inspiration from them.  Therefore, I now say,  Let’s pledge to align our values and actions.  Let’s pledge to spend more time in nature.  And most important of all, let’s pledge to save this planet while we are on this planet.

The body of the sample speech constitutes three simple solutions towards a sustainable environment instead of going all vague and broad by citing the generic solutions. So, the key here is to be specific and realistic while listing solutions in your speech.

The thoughts have been organized in a poetry format so as to conclude the speech in an interesting and memorable manner.

We hope that this article aids you in the speech writing process the next time you write a speech about the environment, or any descriptive topic for that matter.

Anchoring Script for World Environment Day [With PDF]

In this season, you will learn how you can write an anchoring script on Environment Day . So, let’s get started.

Feature image of Anchoring Script on Environment Day

Welcome Speech for World Environment Day (For school/ Educational Institutions)

The environment is the biggest treasure of our life. It is not only just plants and animals but also human beings, the neighborhood, and the institutions which make up our character. Good morning to our respected principal sir/ma’am ( his/ her name), teachers, non-teaching staff, and all our students present here. Today is 5th June, World Environment Day, when the whole world rejoices to celebrate the environment where we are so intrinsic.

The environment is something that cannot be denied. Even the denial of the same will result in tremendous destruction. Recently the statistics show how pollution has increased. Because of this torture and negligence towards the environment that has resulted in our destruction. We are the children of nature and our first and foremost duty lies in the protection of mother nature. Without her air, sunlight, water, flora, and fauna it would have been impossible for us to thrive. Today’s celebration of this blessing of nature which we can never completely pay our debts.

So let’s begin with our journey today. At first, we would begin with an inaugural song by the students of class (standard of the choir), who will dedicate this song to the essential duties of nature and how she is constantly fulfilling it. I would like to call them on the stage.

Welcome Speech (For non-Educational Institutions)

Good morning/ afternoon/ evening to our honorable chief guest/ minister/ secretary ( his/her name), our important society members, and all are the participants present here. Today is 5th June, World Environment Day, which we specifically celebrate to honour the beauty that nature is. Every day when we wake up we see how nature plays a vital role in our life. From the wood that we use to make our bed to the water that we drink at the end of our night all belong to nature.

All are gifts of nature including human beings. The plants, animals, insects, and our neighbours, the climate, weather, and the landmass all are natural resources. The coal and petroleum beneath the soil, the strong water current that runs the turbine for electricity, and the pure air that we breathe in our parts of nature. So to celebrate nature we have gathered here today. We will begin our journey today with an inaugural song by (his/her name).

After the Welcome Song (For School or Educational Institution)

Thank you so much for this wonderful song. It describes so beautifully the essence of nature and how constantly she is at our help. We can never forget how nature is constantly serving us the purpose of our lives. I will thank the choir for this wonderful composition.

And now I will request our respected principal sir/ma’am ( his/ her name) share with us the importance of 5th June and how she feels to share her birthday on such a wonderful occasion. Sir/ ma’am, the stage is all yours.

After the Welcome Song (For Non-Educational Institutions)

It was a lovely song that describes how important nature is in our lives. I thank you heartily for this amazing presentation, ( his/ her name).

Now I would request our chief guest/ minister/ secretary of ( the name of the institution), ( his/her name) to deliver a speech on this auspicious day. Before he/she comes upon the stage I would like to make a small introduction. ( His/her name) has been long associated with UNO organizations regarding natural care and ecosystem maintenance. He/she has done several campaigns and seminars regarding the preservation and conservation of natural wealth. He/she has even worked in the Sundarbans tiger conservation areas for the protection and preservation of wildlife. It is an honor to have him/ her between us today. I will request him/ her to come on the stage.

After the Chief Guest’s Speech (For Schools or Educational Institutions)

Thank you so much sir/ma’am for this energetic speech. You can have your seat and enjoy the rest of the program with us. What sir/ ma’am said is so perfectly true. We always say that we need to respect nature. Yet in our practical life we hardly ever do so. How often do we plant a tree or protect one from being cut down? If we think deeply then we never actually do so and end up complaining that nature is getting polluted. It is our duty like all other national duties to look after our environment.

And now we will proceed with our next performance. A semi-classical dance stage by (his/her name). A big round of applause for him/her.

After the Chief Guest’s Speech (For Non-educational Institutions)

Thank you so much sir/ma’am for this boosting speech. It is always an honor to have you within us. Sadly enough sir/ma’am will not be able to continue this program with us because of his extremely busy schedule. We would honor him with a memento, sash, and a bouquet. I will request our head to hand over the honor to him/ her

And now we will move on with our next performance. It is a solo dance performance on semi-classical steps by one of our talented members (his/her name). A big round of applause for him/ her.

After the Dance Performance (For Schools or Educational Institutions)

Thank you so much, (his/her name) for such a lovely performance. It’s truly magnificent to have you on different occasions. Your performance is quite blissful to lift our moods.

When I was a child I remember my school organizing a specific event on 5th June. That was planting a seed or a sapling. Throughout the year we have to practice plantations. There were several classes where we learned the preservation and cleaning of a seed, how to properly sow the seed, and how to properly displace one sapling from one pot to another.

It was a meticulous and entertaining task to learn to care for nature. One such event has been organized today as well.  All of you will be given a packet of seeds, soil, and a pot. All you will have to do is to carefully plant the seed and write your name on the paper provided and stick it on the pot. These sports will be preserved in our school gallery and will be given back to the students once they have bloomed. So let’s start.

After the Dance Performance (For Non-educational Institutions)

The dance was beautiful and quite charming in the way it showcased the beauty of nature. Thank you so much for this performance. You can have your seat.

Now we will give a break to the continuous row of performances and move on to some activity. We have all been aware of how several places planting saplings and seeds are considered a noble profession. In European countries, in fact, due to the lack of greenery, many people encourage young children to participate in such planting programs. It not only increases our natural wealth but also makes green preservation a good habit among children.

So today for the children of our society we have arranged something similar. All of you will receive a pot filled with soil, a seed, water, and a piece of paper. All you will do is plant the seed into the soil and water it adequately and then write your name on the paper and stick it on your pot. Once the sapling grows it will be returned to you for its care. So come on everyone, let’s do some quick planting.

After the Planting Session (For Both Educational and Non-educational Institutions)

Now tell me everyone did you not enjoy this entire procedure? This has been the happiest experience of my life. Planting a small seed with the wish that it will one day grow into a plant is the biggest satisfaction of life. I hope all of you will enjoy this more once the plants start growing.

For 5th June we organized a drawing competition a month ago with the theme “environment- our protector”. Many children have participated in it and all of them have drawn wonderfully. It was difficult to choose only some of them as winners. But it has to be done. Yet I will say do not be sad because your pictures will be on full display in our gallery for the next week. After that, it will be preserved with us or returned to you if you wish. So now I will declare the winners. The second runner-up is (his/her name), the first runner-up is (his/ her name), and the winner is (his/ her name). Congratulations to all of you.

Ending Speech

Finally, we have arrived at the end of today’s program. It was wonderful to see so many of you participate and gather in the planting session and live by the idea that nature is our life. I wish that those who are here today will definitely take with themselves this moral of taking care of the green. With this note, I wish you all a good day.

2 Minute Speech On The Environment Day In English

Good morning everyone present here, today I am going to give a speech on Environment day. Every year on June 5, World Environment Day is celebrated. We raise awareness about the environment and the need to protect it on this day. World Environment Day is significant in its own way because it is an important time to educate people about the problems we are facing and what they can do to help save the environment.

World Environment Day serves as a reminder to protect the environment at all costs and to make the world a better place. It sheds light on the factors that are seriously harming the ecosystem. In other words, it raises awareness among the general public about the problems the environment is currently suffering. Additionally, it motivates everyone to keep their immediate surroundings secure and pristine.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, it is important that everyone understands how important every action is in protecting the environment. Your efforts to live a greener lifestyle, no matter how tiny, do make a difference. It’s not always about the money and the luxuries; little but meaningful gestures and a shift in routine can also work wonders.

In conclusion, always keep in mind how priceless the treasures and gifts that nature bestows upon us are. For a better future and way of life for everyone, it is really important to preserve them all. Never forget that taking baby steps will help you get where you want to go. Thank you.

World Environment Day Speech

Environment Day is regarded as an auspicious day since we care about our mother earth and her beautiful surroundings on this day. Our responsibility as intelligent beings is to conserve nature and its components. The goal of World Environment Day is to encourage awareness and action to conserve our environment.

10 points about World Environment Day

Short speech on world environment day, long speech on the environment day.

World Environment Day Speech

Every year on June 5, the world observes World Environment Day.

The United Nations General Assembly established this day in 1973.

The day of the Stockholm conference on the human environment was declared as Environment Day.

World Environment Day was observed two years after the designation, with the theme "only one world."

"Save the Earth, save yourselves. Think green. Be green. Stop polluting" is the slogan for Earth Day.

Different countries observe World Environment Day.

This event was held in Sweden in 2022.

This festival is held with a different theme each year.

It has been 50 years since the United Nations established June 5 as World Environment Day.

This event will be hosted in Pakistan in 2023 with the theme of Ecosystem restoration.

Good morning everyone. Today, on World Environment Day, I would like to remind us all of the importance of protecting and preserving our environment.

Mother nature is generous and giving. Mankind relied on her for a long time to meet their requirements. War, deforestation, pollution, forest fires, and so on are all examples of the suffering that our mother Earth has endured as a result of man's selfishness. The world we live in is facing numerous environmental challenges, from climate change to pollution to loss of biodiversity. It is our responsibility to take action and work towards a sustainable future for ourselves and generations to come.

We can start by making small changes in our daily lives, such as reducing waste, conserving energy, and using environmentally friendly products. We can also support organisations and initiatives that work towards a greener world.

It is crucial for governments, businesses, and individuals to come together and take action on environmental issues. We need to prioritise the health of our planet and invest in solutions that will have a positive impact on the environment.

Let us take this World Environment Day as an opportunity to reflect on our actions and the impact they have on the environment. Let us make a commitment to protect and preserve the world we live in.

Mother Nature has always been more of a giver than a taker. She asks for nothing more than the care of the world in exchange for an abundance of resources. Mankind desires everything for the advancement of the metropolis. But they are unaware of the devastation of resources as a result of this. Thousands of trees are taken down every day, contributing to deforestation. Plastic pollution has harmed both land and sea. Every day, marine animals perish as a result of their consumption of plastics. Factories have polluted the air, making it dangerous for birds. All of these factors exist solely because humans prioritise profit over nature. Nobody knows the environmental consequences of the current scenario.

Given the global crisis, the United Nations General Assembly recognised June 5 as World Environment Day. This day is observed to provide an opportunity for us to reconsider our decisions about our environment and its resources.

The United Nations General Assembly convened the Stockholm Conference on Human Environment in 1972. This seminar also highlighted how bad our current environmental situation is. As a result, the 5 of June was proclaimed as Environment Day in order to raise awareness about the challenges. People from various countries get together and do everything in their power to safeguard our mother Earth. The leaders of several organisations meet to discuss certain ideas to implement in our surroundings.

Environment Day through the ages

The inaugural event of World Environment was organised in 1974 in the city of Spokane in the USA with the subject of "Only one Earth". Despite the fact that the event began in the United States in 1987, the notion of hosting this day in numerous nations was implemented.

In 2010, the event was hosted by Rwanda, with the theme of—One species, One Earth. In 2011, India was the host of this event and the subject was," Forest - Nature at your service". The United Nations wants to attract national and international attention to the issue of environmental degradation and climate change. In 2013, the event was hosted in Brazil, with the subject of, " Think. Eat and Save".

What can you do?

Despite the fact that the UN established a day entirely dedicated to our environment 50 years ago, the situation persists. Population growth, air and water pollution, climate change, food and fresh water scarcity have all increased over the years and are projected to continue. It is within our power as Earthlings to assist in this subject. We must aim for the new idea of preserving resources rather than destroying them for our own purpose. Ecosystem restoration has the potential to tackle thousands of problems associated with global warming. Planting trees, cleaning up the streets, not using plastics and putting them in water bodies, not driving, and not wasting food are some of the things you can do to help sustain our environment. Our duty is never tiring when it comes to saving our mother Earth. So, let's gather together and save the Environment by all means.

Speech On World Environment Day

World Environment Day is very important in our life. On this day we gather information on environmental issues and take a pledge to protect the environment for our better future. We should take care of our environment throughout our life. This is possible only when we keep our eyes open and bring some positive changes within ourselves and in the environment. We should also make our children aware of this problem so that they too can become aware of the campaign of environmental protection and play an active role in this campaign in future.

Long and Short Speech on World Environment Day in English

Hearty greetings and good morning to all respected dignitaries present, Principal Sir, Sir, Madam and my dear friends on the auspicious occasion of World Environment Day. My name is… I study in class… Today, we have gathered here to celebrate an important day, World Environment Day. On this occasion, I am presenting a speech looking at the history of World Environment Day. I have specially chosen this topic which is important for our better future.

World Environment Day is specially celebrated to consider the issues related to the environment and to solve the problems related to the environment. It is also known as Environment Day, Eco Day or WED. It is a great annual event during which we focus our attention on environmental issues and try to solve them completely. The occasion is celebrated across the world with lots of creative activities aimed at bringing about a positive change in the environment. Our objective behind celebrating World Environment Day is that we should protect the natural environment on earth in every possible way so that the possibility of healthy life always remains on the earth.

After being declared in the year 1972, it was celebrated every year from 1973 on 5th June by the United Nations General Assembly with the aim of giving information about the condition of environmental degradation and to make people understand the importance of clean environment and to increase global awareness about it. The festival was started during the inauguration of the World Environment Conference organized by the United Nations with the aim of making people aware of the importance of environment and implementing effective plans aimed at protecting the environment. This annual festival is celebrated according to a theme declared by the United Nations. During this festival, the focus is on implementing some new and effective plans every year according to the theme given by the United Nations to save the environment.

My dear friends, this festival is celebrated in more than 100 countries all over the world because no country can solve the environmental problem alone. Its annual event is organized every year by the United Nations Environment Program by different host cities declared by the United Nations. It was organized for the first time in 1973 with the theme “Only One Earth”. In the year 2016, the host of the event was the city of Angola.

The purpose of this event is to attract the attention of millions of people, political and health organizations from different countries around the world to this problem and to make new plans and implement plans to deal with this problem. It is very important to control the factors that harm the environment like wastage of food, global warming, deforestation, pollution, industrialization. During the program organized on the occasion, people will talk about carbon neutrality, forest management, control of greenhouse gases, encourage production of bio-fuels, use of hydroelectric power plants to generate electricity, use of solar energy to heat water. Emphasis is placed on activities to encourage etc.

Healthy Environment, Happy Future!

Hearty greetings and good morning to all respected dignitaries present, Principal Sir, Sir, Madam and my dear friends on the auspicious occasion of World Environment Day. my name is…….. I study in class…. First of all I would like to thank my class teacher sir for inviting me to deliver a lecture on this subject. Today, we have gathered here to celebrate an important day, which is called World Environment Day. The condition of our environment is deteriorating day by day. Friends, we need to immediately find out the factors that harm the environment and improve the situation. On the auspicious occasion of World Environment Day, it is necessary to discuss all the points related to the topic.

My dear friends, a special day was established by the United Nations in the year 1972 as World Environment Day with the aim of saving our environment on earth. In the joy of technological advances around the world, we have forgotten that we are missing out on a lot with development. Development activities have taken us away from nature and many of our natural heritage have been destroyed. Do you know that many of our favorite food items are also being predicted to become extinct due to our mistakes. Just our mistakes such as excessive use of electricity, deforestation, industrialization, direct disposal of sewage in rivers and canals, harmful invention and use of polythene etc. is causing great harm to the environment.

World Environment Day is celebrated every year on 5th June with the aim of understanding our mistakes and making efforts towards taking positive steps to neutralize their bad effects. World Environment Day was first celebrated in 1973 by United Nations Organization with the aim of finding solutions to various environmental issues like global warming, food shortage, deforestation, etc. According to scientists, more than two-thirds of flora and fauna will become extinct due to human-induced environmental change in the near future. The situation has become so bad that coffee, king corn, chocolate and many seafood are on the verge of extinction in the near future.

We all use a spoonful of honey in our daily diet especially in the morning but soon it will become extinct and it will be called as liquid gold. 2 out of every 5 bees will die due to excessive use of pesticides in agriculture. These insecticides are also toxic to pollinating bees and due to this the bee population is declining. Due to the decrease in the population of bees, many plants and food items will also die because about 250,000 species of plants are pollinated by bees.

Due to the increasing rate of climate change, chocolate is being depleted as the production of cocoa is facing difficulties due to the ever-increasing temperature and change in weather patterns. Cacao trees cause excessive evaporation due to high temperatures, which is reducing the production of cocoa. Its production is expected to decline drastically by 2030.

Due to high temperature, changing weather and dwindling water supply, these plants are becoming unhealthy and moldy on them and thus inhibiting the production of coffee. The production of seafood has also been endangered due to global warming. Due to global warming, many species of aquatic life, fish etc. have all reached the verge of extinction. Due to unaccounted deforestation, many species of plants like palm oil, etc. are going to become extinct.

Dear friends, we need to take effective steps to reduce the rate of climate change and save many natural resources for better life on earth in future. It is necessary that we pay attention to less use, reuse and recycle so that we can be successful in controlling the deteriorating condition of the natural ecosystem. We need to take small but many steps like consuming organic foods instead of inorganic foods, using natural fertilizers instead of chemical fertilizers, reducing the use of electricity, recycling things, stopping deforestation. Effective steps have to be taken related to protection of wild animals etc. Our positive steps will prove helpful in solving the environmental related issues in the near future.

Healthy Environment, Healthy Future!

Hearty greetings and good morning to all the respected dignitaries present, Principal Sir, Sir, Madam and my senior colleagues and dear friends on the auspicious occasion of World Environment Day. My name is… I study in class…. Today, on this auspicious occasion, I want to present a speech on the topic of World Environment Day. I am very grateful to my class teacher for giving me the opportunity to present my speech on this occasion.

My dear friends, we all well know about World Environment Day but we should also know about the objectives of celebrating this day. Today, in my speech, I will tell about this campaign and also about our responsibilities towards the environment. Friends, we are the only ones who can try to improve the situation of environmental degradation and so we will discuss this topic in detail.

World Environment Day is celebrated every year on 5th June. World Environment Day was established in the year 1972 by the United Nations General Assembly. For the first time in the year 1973, World Environment Day was celebrated with the aim of taking positive steps to save the environment from being polluted on earth and to inspire people all over the world in this direction. Due to the illegal wildlife trade that has been going on for many years, our precious biodiversity is being destroyed and important species of wild animals like elephants, tigers, rhinos, gorillas, sea turtles, etc. have reached the verge of extinction. The slogan of World Environment Day 2016 was ” Be wild for life” so that those involved in crimes against wildlife can be reformed and compensated for the damage done by them. To get a better future on earth it is necessary to solve this big problem and it is in front of us as a big challenge.

The following are the objectives of celebrating this event every year :

  • To spread awareness among the general public about the issues related to environment.
  • To encourage people living in the society and communities to contribute as active representatives in this campaign to become a sustainable and eco-friendly development.
  • To get the cooperation of people from all over the world to make it a successful campaign globally.
  • To motivate people for cleanliness in the surrounding areas for a better start of this campaign.

Crimes against wildlife have endangered many animal species and even some species such as the Yawan rhino in Vietnam and the western black rhino in Cameroon went extinct in 2011. Such as the Great Apes species have also disappeared from other countries including Gambia, Benin, Burkina Faso, Togo. My dear friends, we live on earth so thus earth is our first home. Forget about your separate homes and focus on the united home of the earth. We should keep the earth clean, green and crime free so that the environment here can provide us nourishment and not create trouble for us. I am sure that if all the people wisely and follow their responsibilities towards the earth and environment then the day is not far when all the living beings will live happily on this planet under the roof of a healthy environment.

Save Wildlife, Save Environment!

Good morning to all of you principal sir, sir, madam and my senior colleagues and dear friends. My name is… I study in class…. Today I want to present a speech on the theme of World Environment Day, which is a campaign by the United Nations General Assembly to find solutions to all environmental issues in the direction of achieving a safer environment and a better future. Today on 5th June we have gathered here to celebrate an important day, which is called World Environment Day. I am thankful to my class teacher sir for giving me the opportunity to give a speech on this subject.

World Environment Day is very important for us because on this day we make special efforts for the betterment of our nature in future and also this day provides us an opportunity to review how much damage we have caused to nature. And how do we make up for this loss?

The special slogan of the celebration of this campaign in the year 2016 was “Be Wild for Life” and its theme was “Fight Against Wildlife Trafficking for Life” (meaning zero tolerance for illegal trade in wildlife). The theme of this year’s campaign was to focus on the life of other species of wildlife including orangutans, elephants, gorillas, pangolins, whales, rhinos, sea turtles, rosewoods, tigers, helmeted hornbills. This step is taken to protect these endangered species in future. The increasing rate of crime in wildlife has badly disturbed the balance of the ecosystem and urgent action is needed to restore it back to life.

Wildlife trade has had a negative impact on wildlife and some species of animals have reached the brink of extinction in many countries. Wildlife traders have been earning money continuously for many years but they are depleting nature’s treasury. The purpose of running this campaign in the year 2016 is to reduce the demand for illegal wildlife products in any area all over the world. In such a situation, it is our responsibility to play an active role in this campaign and completely eliminate all crimes related to wildlife around the world. This global crime commits us to stand together to stop the trafficking of wildlife.

We should promote activities related to addressing environmental issues through art, craft exhibitions, film festivals, social media, etc. We should be aware of what is going wrong in our environment and try to prevent crimes related to wildlife in our surrounding areas as far as possible. Many members of a family work hard to earn money for the purpose of running the household. My dear friends, we all live in a house like earth whose roof is the environment. We should take care of these two because our life will be healthy and safe only when the earth becomes green and the atmosphere becomes clean.

There is only one earth, one environment and one life, so live it, don’t waste it.

Save Environment Speech For Students

Speech on Save Environment is an important topic for students. Students can avail a well-written speech on the topic ‘save environment speech’ and learn how to write the speech that will impress the audience.

Long Speech

Good morning to one and all present here. I am glad to be given the opportunity to present a speech on Save Environment. Our environment is where we live. There must be harmony between the environment and living beings. In the present scenario, due to overpopulation, the environment is under distress. The situation is alarming as our natural environment is overexploited to meet human needs. It is because of many human activities that we are not able to maintain a healthy balance with nature.

The threat we are facing includes manmade disasters and global warming. These threats are real and have raised an alarming situation. We need to come together to save our environment. This speech on saving nature throws light on why it is needed by mankind to protect and preserve the environment. Our environment offers everything from clothing, water, food to shelter. All living beings are a part of the ecosystem. Hence, it becomes our responsibility to take care of the natural habitat.

Environmental pollution is one of the biggest issues that the modern world faces today. To meet the wants of society, we are putting too much pressure on the natural environment. This leads to damage to nature. The soil is losing its fertility, and in most places, soil pollution makes it difficult to grow crops. Even air and water pollution is the effect of mass urbanization and industrialisation. Controlling the pollution is a need of the hour, however, this still gets neglected by us. I am delivering the speech to save the earth to make you aware of what can be done by each one of us sitting here. We can make our earth a better place to live by taking simple steps like planting a tree, throwing waste in proper bins, saying no to plastic bags, etc. Rather than complaining about pollution, such small steps must be taken to make our environment sustainable.

Environmental problems are also the result of vast technological advancements in the last few years. The overuse of resources to build IT infrastructure is responsible for the loss of the natural environment. Government and international organizations must take proper steps to control pollution and save our mother earth. Environmental protection policies must be strictly enforced. Everyone has to come together to save our mother nature.

Saving our environment is much more important today than ever before. The degrading quality of earth life is what we all are familiar with. However, the early signs of the upcoming destruction are visible. The harsh weather conditions, increased carbon dioxide emissions, melting of glaciers, etc. are the major concerns that needed immediate attention. Let us all do what we can to save our environment and preserve our resources for future generations.

Short Speech

Good morning to all. Today, I am going to give a short speech on saving the environment. We are all aware of how the environment is important to us. We cannot afford to harm the environment any longer. In today’s modern world, our planet earth is affected significantly. However, if we want to live in harmony with nature, we cannot put the entire pressure on the environment. Living beings, for their survival, depend completely on the natural and manmade environment. It is impossible to live without the resources that the atmosphere provides. In such a situation, it becomes critical to save mother nature from getting over-exploited due to the increasing population.

We all know that factors like overpopulation, deforestation, etc. are responsible for environmental destruction. Small steps taken by us can go a long way. We must try to use as much public transport as possible to protect the air we breathe. We must throw garbage in the right bins so that proper disposal of waste and waste management can be done. We need to make efforts in the right direction to conserve our natural resources and habitat. Some of the ways by which we can achieve this are to use renewable energy, avoid plastic bags, plant more trees etc.

Mother nature offers so much to us. We must protect the environment and nature and be a part of sustainable development programmes.

10 Lines Speech

A heartfelt welcome to each one present here. I am here to deliver a speech on saving the environment and saving a life. It is no hidden fact that our environment is affected largely due to human activities. It is facing a threat at an alarming rate. We have over-exploited nature due to our greed. This has caused a natural imbalance. However, we can still do something and protect our environment from all the damages. We must plant more and more trees, throw garbage in the dustbins, avoid using plastic bags, etc. It cannot be denied that our natural environment is such an important part of our ecosystem. It is important to educate people about how the environment is getting damaged. Then only we can have green earth to live in.

Main Causes of Environmental Degradation

Pollution, in any form, is destructive to the environment, whether it be in the form of air, water, land, or noise.

Rapid population increase limits natural resources, resulting in environmental degradation.

Increasing population equals more need for food, clothing, and housing. More land is needed to grow food and provide housing for people. Deforestation occurs, as a result, contributing to environmental degradation.

Deforestation is also caused by using forest areas for agriculture, livestock grazing, fuelwood harvesting, and logging. When forest size decreases, deforestation contributes to global warming by releasing carbon into the atmosphere.

The exhaust gas released by industries is one of the primary sources of pollution. Lead is found in large concentrations in the environment due to a range of substances such as gasoline, paints, ceramics, and batteries.

In recent years, there has been a massive increase in the number of private vehicles. The higher the number of cars, the higher the rate of pollution that causes smog. Lower-level ozone, which is detrimental, is caused by hydrocarbons emitted by engines.

Speech on plant trees, saving mother earth is important for students as it will make them aware of how to use natural resources and how a healthy balance can be maintained between the environment and human life.

Long and Short Speech on Beat Plastic Pollution in English

Here, we have covered both long speeches on “beat plastic pollution” as well as short speeches on “beat plastic pollution” which are comprehensive and easy to understand. You can take a cue from the following and create your own impressive speeches.

Beat Plastic Pollution Speech 1

Greetings of the day Ladies and Gentlemen – Welcome to the speech ceremony of today!

How are you all doing? I hope this day finds you in the best of spirits. The speech topic for today is “Beat Plastic Pollution”. Beat Plastic Pollution, as we all know, is the theme for this year’s World Environment Day. It is clearly a call to action for each one of us as we are expected to come together for a cause, i.e. to battle with the great environmental challenges posed before us. Our country played the host this year and chose the theme accordingly, i.e. to urge the countries from across the world to make changes in their day to day lives by taking the burden of plastic pollution off from our natural landscapes, our wildlife as well as our very own health.

Whereas plastic proves to be quite valuable to us, we have become over dependent on disposable or single-used plastic product leading to serious environmental consequences. Globally, one million drinking bottles of plastic are being purchased every single minute and with no reason to get surprised, we consume up to five trillion single-use plastic bags. In total, more than half of the plastic that we use is only single use.

About one third of the packaging that we use in the form of plastic escapes the waste collection and disposal system, which implies that it ends up blocking our city streets thereby causing pollution around us and making our natural surroundings to appear filthy. Every year, about 13 million tons of plastic is being dumped into our oceans where it chokes coral reefs and pose a serious threat to the vulnerable water living species. The plastic that is being dumped into the oceans can circle our planet earth four times in a year and it can retain its original form for about 1,000 years before completely disintegrating.

There are many things that we can do to beat plastic pollution, such as going up to the restaurants and asking them to stop the use of plastic straws, asking people to carry their own coffee mugs at workplace and putting pressure on the local authorities to streamline their city waste. Here is what rest you can do:

  • Carry your own bag to the shopping stores;
  • Don’t litter waste especially plastic waste on the road;
  • Avoid the use of plastic cutlery;
  • If you observe any plastic waste around yourself, put it in a refuse box

By putting our conscientious efforts we can actually get rid our environment of these toxic waste products and build a clean and green city. Did you know that plastic also act as a magnet having the ability to attract other pollutants along with metals, dioxins and pesticides?

So I request everyone to completely shun the use of plastics and switch to environment friendly products. This is all I have to say.

Thank you everyone!

Beat Plastic Pollution Speech 2

Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen – I welcome you all to the National Environment Day Program!

The theme of today’s program is Beat Plastic Pollution, but before we pledge to beat plastic pollution it becomes very important for all of us to understand how and in what way plastic is polluting our environment. Let’s take a look at the basic facts related to plastic pollution:

  • Every single year 500 billion plastic bags are being circulated in the world market;
  • Every minute about one million plastic bottles are being used;
  • Every year more than 8 million tones of plastic is being dumped into the oceans and other water bodies – the equivalent of a full truck of garbage every single minute;
  • In the preceding decade, more plastic was produced than in the entire previous century;
  • Plastic makes up about 10 percent of the entire waste that is generated;
  • More than half of the plastic products in use today are disposable after a single use.

In fact, “Beat Plastic Pollution” was the theme for World Environment Day 2018 which urged the governments, communities, industries as well as individuals to unite for this cause and look for sustainable alternatives and urgently curb the production as well as excessive use of disposable plastic products that pollute our water bodies, destroy marine life as well as threaten human health.

On the World Environment Day, the Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change – Dr. Harsh Vardhan – said, “If each and every one of us does at least one environment friendly deed daily considering our Green Social Responsibility, there will be billions of environment friendly deeds daily, marking a giant step forward towards a “greener planet”.

Luckily, our government has committed to hosting and spreading the awareness about the World Environment Day celebrations, with the help of a range of engaging activities as well as events forming strong public opinions and asking for their participation. Beginning from pan-Indian plastic clean-up campaigns in public zones, forests and national reserves to simultaneous beach clean-up campaigns – India will head the program by clearly setting an example for others.

In fact, India is surfacing as a leader; given the fact that we have the highest recycling rates across the globe. It can greatly help in keeping a check on the plastic pollution. After having organized World Environment Day 2018 in our country, the government of India is moving with a fast pace on handling this cause of global concern.

It is high time that not only our government, but we as the responsible global citizens take the onus of protecting our environment and become proactive towards preserving our mother earth. So ladies and gentlemen let’s take a pledge to actually beat plastic pollution and protect our surroundings from every possible threat.

Now, I would like to invite those interested from the audience to come on stage and say a few words in this regard as well as suggest some effective steps towards combating plastic pollution.

Thank you all for being such patient listeners.

Beat Plastic Pollution Speech 3

Hon’ble Chief Guest, Principal, Vice Principal, Teachers and My Dear Friends – Warm Greetings to one and all!

Thank you for assembling in the school auditorium and making this event happen. Today’s occasion is dedicated to protecting our environment and making conscientious efforts towards beating plastic pollution. I, Priyanka Nangia from Class – XII (B), would be your host for today and would also like to address the topic called “Beat Plastic Pollution” by sharing my opinion and views. However, it’s an open discussion and anyone can feel free to come over to the stage and enlighten us with their views. It will be really good if we all can discuss together and explore the possibilities of getting rid our environment of the toxic plastic waste.

There is a pressing need to spread awareness around us for protecting our environment and banning the use of plastic. As we all know that our country played host for the 2018 World Environment Day which took place on 5 th June. Having “Beat Plastic Pollution” the theme of this year’s event, the world has united to combat pollution caused by disposable plastic. The world has realized that protecting and improving our environment is the need of the hour as it is directly related to the well-being of the people and economic growth across the globe, which is why June 5 is specially dedicated to celebrating World Environment Day and raising the people’s awareness.

The celebration of June 5 gives us an important opportunity to enhance our knowledge of the environment and shoulder the responsibility together of conserving our planet Earth wherein beating plastic pollution is an important step towards it. It is important to conduct seminars and workshops amongst various communities and institutions for laying a strong foundation for cleaner and greener cities.

Besides, here’s what you can do in your day to day lives to safeguard your environment from pollution:

  • Stop using plastic bottles;
  • Stop using polythene bags for carrying any commodity;
  • Shun the use of plastic cups for drinking coffee or tea instead use earthen cups;
  • Use recycled products; even clothes for that matter;
  • Never throw plastic in any form on the road side or streets;
  • Organize community gatherings for the city cleanup program;
  • Try plogging, which means jogging while picking up rags from the roadside;
  • Spread awareness among the people about the hazards of plastic pollution.

Plastic pollution is considered the most direct threat to the survival of living species on earth and of course to our environment. However, if we take a stern resolve and make use of advanced techniques for the disposal of waste then we will be able to make a progress towards building a clean and healthy environment.

This is all from my end and now I would like to request our chief guest Smt.——– to come on stage and say a few words in this regard.

Thank you all for patiently listening to me!

Beat Plastic Pollution Speech 4

Greetings of the day ladies and gentlemen – Welcome to the speech ceremony of today!

The subject of today’s speech topic is “Beat Plastic Pollution”. As we all know how much the whole world is suffering from pollution and its after effects. And the worst form of pollution that every country is struggling with is plastic pollution. Therefore, there is an urgent need to adopt preventive measures and keeping this problem at bay.

If we trace our roots we realize that mankind originated in the lap of nature. Human beings exploited the resources provided to them by the nature and it continued for thousands of years. But what we see in the present times is that man’s greed knows no bounds and we are hell bent on destroying that very nature which nurtured us. We are not only exploiting the resources through unfair means, but are also polluting our mother earth and choking it with filth and waste. Pollution therefore has become a global concern and its repercussions can be seen all around us. Plastic was one of the biggest inventions of humankind. However, unfortunately it has become the greatest adversary of Mother Nature. The plastic pollution has become a grave issue faced by the world and it is causing a great harm to our nature and the living species present in it.

The reason why plastic is so much used is because it comes with a lot of benefits, such as it is flexible, versatile, lightweight, moisture resistant and cheaper in comparison with its counterparts. This is what makes us become completely indifferent towards the damaging impact of plastic on our environment. Our voracious appetite for it has caused tremendous increase not only in its consumption, but in the level of pollution as well. Even a small piece of plastic has the durability to last on earth for numerous years. This is one of-its-kind case of a boon gradually turning into a bane as we are continuing to use plastic products and then eventually end up throwing them off in our surroundings. Plastic is durable in nature which prevents it from decomposing easily thereby making it a chief source of pollution these days.

But the best part is that our government and people in the form of community, municipality groups as well as businesses are taking stringent measures against the use of disposable plastics. Ban has already been re-enforced on such items as grocery bags, plastic bottles, plastic drinking straws, stirrers, takeaway foam containers, plastic-lined coffee cups, including non-biodegradable wet wipes.

Waste generated from plastic is undoubtedly a big concern for all of us and we need to act together to be able to handle this problem because this waste pollutes our water bodies, soil, air, and food. It’s high time that we all work really hard to preserve our environment and make it healthy so that every living species can survive to its optimum.

This is all from my end, thank you so much!

Speech on Environment for Students and Children

3 minutes speech on environment.

Good Morning to one and all present here. I am going to present a short speech on Environment. Our environment consists of all living beings as well as their surroundings. A healthy environment is one that is sustainable for a long period of time. It is the source of life for everyone. It directs the life of everyone and determines the proper growth and development.

Speech on environment

The good or bad quality of our life is depending on the quality of our natural environment. Our need for food, water, shelter, and other things depends on the environment around us. There must be a balanced natural cycle that exists between the environment and the lives of human beings, plants, and animals.

Human society is playing a vital role in degenerating the natural environment which is affecting badly the lives on this planet. All the human actions in this modern world directly impact our ecosystem.  Many actions of us have brought big changes to this planet, resulting in many environmental problems. Increasing demand for technologies and industries is another important factor.

Various Environmental Issues

There are many harmful effects of human activities on the environment. Some of these are pollution, over-population, waste disposal, climate change, global warming, and the greenhouse effect, etc. The big reason that poses a serious threat to our environment is the harmful gases in the air.

The uncontrolled use of automobiles has increased their effects, which in turn emits harmful gases like Carbon monoxide. The electronic appliances like air conditioners and refrigerators also contaminating air by the discharge of harmful substances. The diverse effect of these gases is causing air pollution as well as global warming.

Read Speech on Global Warming here.

Deforestation is another major reason. The human population is increasing at a fast rate and therefore to meet their daily consumption we need to cut forests and trees. It may be for home or for fuel, but we are causing great loss to the environment.

Other factors are the depletion of natural resources like water, fuel, and food. On the other hand over-consumption of resources by humans and improper waste disposal have resulted in a huge quantity of solid and hazardous wastes. These wastes are other threats to the environment.

Solutions of the Problems of our Environment

Due to all the above human activities, our planet has reached unsustainable levels. Therefore, it is our duty and responsibility to lower the loss. Every individual can play a significant role in this solution.

For example, we should take a pledge to say ‘No’ to plastics. Instead of it, we may make use of Eco-friendly substitutes like paper and cloth bags.

The government of every country must implement strict laws for industries, those are releasing the toxic wastes for proper waste management. The awareness programs should be organized to encourage citizens to use public transport as much as possible.

Also, everyone must do plantation of trees. The less use of private vehicles will reduce the emission of harmful gases as well will save fuel resources.

In the end, I want to say that we must spread environmental awareness in our society as well as in our daily routine life. It is necessary to save and protect our environment. In my view, it is the responsibility of everyone to do our bit for the environment. Therefore, let us work together towards a greener and more sustainable future.

Long and Short Speech on Environment in English

Environment speech 1.

Good Morning Principal, Teachers, and My Dear Friends!

As today, the whole school has been assembled here for this beautiful occasion of World Environment Day that is celebrated on 5 th June every year; I would like to say a few words dedicated to the environment.

The environment is the surroundings made from five elements namely- Air, Water, Land, Sky, and Fire for us to flourish. It has been always said that only earth has the most favourable climatic conditions that help us to survive. We should be very grateful towards the earth that we have been provided with such a great environment that has everything in its nature which helps us to thrive. But day by day we are ruining it on the highest pitch that will eventually lead us towards our destruction.

We should understand the importance of the natural environment and try to deduce our non-eco-friendly activities and imperatively plant as many trees as we can and save water that is the two biggest issues.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Environment

Environment Speech 2

Hon’ble Principal, Teachers, and My Dear Friends!

As this special assembly has been called for addressing the biggest issue these days regarding our environment, I would like to express my views on it. It has been recognized by the entire world that our environment is not as it was before. There are drastic changes that have been occurred since few years such as climatic changes, increment in natural disasters, etc all due to our changing lifestyle.

Our environment consists of 5 elements- Air, Water, Land, Fire and Sky and we have disturbed the process of entire ecosystem by cutting the vast amount of trees who contributes the most in balancing the environmental cycle, installment of large polluting industries, hunting/poaching of animals leading towards their endangerment, etc.

Out of this, the question arises is that what kind of future we want or what kind of future we are going to hand over to our next generations? Is this the kind of development we all have dreamt about? Walking with a mask on our faces, struggle in floods and earthquakes, destruction of animals who aren’t even aware of what’s happening around.

Now this is the high time where we need to recognize the importance of our natural environment and try every possible action towards saving it from saving water to planting trees.

Environment Speech 3

Good morning to the Excellencies, my respected teachers and my dear friends. The topic of my speech is Environment. Environment is the surrounding in which we live. It is the source of life. Our whole life is dependent to the environment. It directs our life and determines our proper growth and development.

Good or bad quality of social life depends on the quality of our natural environment. The need of human beings for food, water, shelter and other things depends on the environment around us. There is a balanced natural cycle exists between environment and lives of human beings, plants and animals. Human society is playing vital role in degenerating the natural environment which in turn negatively affects the lives on this planet. All the human actions in this modern world directly impact the whole ecosystem.

All the actions have brought a big change in this planet which resulted in many environmental problems. Increasing demand of technologies and industries in the modern time impacts the nature. The increasing invention of new technologies has changed the interaction of people with environment which permits more population to grow.

The modern technologies have immense power which has altered the whole environment in an unimagined way. The indiscriminate use of environment is the root of ecological crisis. Such continuous increase in the technologies and human behaviour are correspondingly very serious. Such amazing technologies have become the reason of economic growth in 20 th century however it had dramatically affected the natural resources.

Some of the environmental problems are rapid growth in world population, deteriorating natural resources, diminishing forests and wetlands, erosion of soil and coral reefs, depleting underground water, regular shortage of fresh drinking water, vanishing plants, salinization in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Middle East. Some other issues are loss of biodiversity, rapid extinction of some important animal species, collapse of fisheries, rising air and water pollution, rise in atmospheric temperature, thinning of ozone layer, spoiling rivers, seas and underground resources.

Even though science and technology have radically altered the terms of adaptation to the nature, we still need to adapt to the environment. Human society is embedded in an environment. We must not forget that the human being is first and foremost an animal, sharing living space with other animal species in an environment on which they are mutually dependent. It is our responsibility to save our environment and earth and make the possibility of healthy and happy life here.

Environment Speech 4

Good morning to the Excellencies, my respected teachers and my dear friends. As we have gathered here to celebrate this occasion, I would like to speech over Environment. To run the life in healthy happy way, we all need a healthy and natural environment. Continuously increasing human population adversely affects the forests. Human beings are cutting forests to a great extent for making their home to live securely however they do not think of the problems arises due to the lack of forests.

It completely disturbs the natural cycle between environment and life on the earth. Because of the over-population, the number of various chemical elements is increasing in the atmosphere which ultimately causes irregular rainfall and global warming. We cannot imagine the negative effects of global warming over the climate and lives of human beings and other living species.

According to the research it is found that the perennial snow mountains of the Tibet were totally covered by the thick snow in the past however those thick snows are getting very thin day by day over last few decades because of the global warming. Such condition is very dangerous situation and indication of end of life on earth which needs to be taken very seriously by all countries worldwide. It is very true that climate change goes very slow however slow continuous process is very dangerous.

Because of the regular changes in the environment physical structure of the human beings and other living species has been changed from generation to generation. Increasing human population needs more land for agricultural cultivation and living purpose which force them to cut more trees and forests so the deforestation has its own dangerous side effects.

Increasing level of industrialization has countless harmful effects on the atmosphere because of the poisonous chemical emissions and dangerous wastes drainage in the big water resources such as Yamuna, Ganga, and other rivers. The ever changing (negatively) environment is not the issue of only some countries or government; it is the issue of whole human fraternity because we all are the reason of this negatively declining environment so we all are responsible to save our natural environment for the healthy survival of life on the earth.

Protecting the atmosphere is the matter of high importance for all the present and future generations of mankind. The main purpose of my speech today over the environment is only to increase the public awareness among common people about the reasons of declining environment as well as need of healthy and natural environment for the life on earth. So, it is my humble request to all of you that please contribute to save your environment.

Environment Speech 5

Good morning to my respected teachers and my dear friends. As we have gathered here to celebrate this occasion, I would like to speech on the Environment to increase awareness among public about the negatively changing environment. An environment is the natural surrounding which covers and protects us from the natural disasters.

However, our healthy and natural environment is getting worse day by day and taking the form of demon affecting everything from non-living to living beings. What we know is two types of environment called natural environment and built environment. The natural environment is one which exists naturally and the one for which man is responsible such as cities etc is called built environment. There are many natural and unnatural factors polluting the whole natural atmosphere.

Some of the natural factors like volcanoes, flood, etc are the reasons of declining environment. However, manmade reasons are more rampant caused due to the reckless and the caustic human nature are highly responsible for the environmental pollution. Self centred human activities are highly responsible for the destruction of the environment. Other environmental threats like forests degradation, global warming, pollution, etc are the reasons of environment degradation. Continuous increasing temperature of the earth surface in the atmosphere because of the many human made and natural means calls to the various natural calamities causing disturbance to a great extent to the healthy and common life of human and all other living beings.

Our natural environment has become hugely changed in the last few decades and has taken form of big and powerful demon affecting the lives of people every single moment. Nature has made everything to run in balance with the natural cycle however many factors causes environmental corrosion. The factors like population growth and economic advancement are considered as the major factors giving rise to many other secondary factors.

We must understand the importance of ecological balance and try our best to run it naturally in order to prevent the effects of environmental disasters and promote the existence of healthy environment. We should promote common public in our surroundings for the clean and green environment to prove the meaning of proverb like “We won’t have a society if we destroy the environment”.

Environment Speech 6

First of all I would like to say good morning to the Excellencies, respected teachers, and my dear friends. As we all know that we have gathered here to celebrate this auspicious occasion, I would like to speech over the environment in order to make you aware of our continuously declining environment so that we all together can be successful in saving our environment by taking some effective steps. As we know that we live on the planet of earth having different types of surroundings called environment within which we can eat healthy, breathe freshly, and live safely.

However, what happens to our lives if any means of natural or manmade causes of environment degradation takes place, we cannot imagine the extent of loss to the human and other living beings existence. The ecology balance and natural cycles has become disturbed which is very hard to bring back and give it a natural shape. However, there is a common saying that “prevention is better than cure”, so we never gets tired of trying our best to save the environment.

Physical environment on this planet provides all of us a favourable required condition and supports the existence and growth of various forms of life here. Natural or physical environment is provided by the nature however all forms of the living beings together constitute another environment called biological environment. Both of the environments are closely connected to each other and make a unique natural system for the life survival. If the biological environment gets disturbed, physical environment automatically gets disturbed and both hugely affect the human lives together.

Another environment which is completely depending on the human is socio-cultural environment made by the human beings. Whatever environment is, it must be healthy, safe and secure to continue the evergreen life on the earth in present and future.

We should realize our mistakes and concern about the environment in order to keep it clean, safe and secure for the healthy life. Many of the human activities like deforestation, industrialization, technological improvements and so many are leading our environment towards danger and keeping lives at risk by influencing the growth, development and survival of all organisms.

Various types of environmental pollution such as water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution, soil pollution, etc are disturbing the ecosystem and causing variety of health hazards to the human beings and animals. Environmental pollution is damaging the ecosystem and destroying the delicate balance of the natural ecosystem. So, now-a-days environmental pollution is the matter of great concern and consideration for which we all together follow some effective steps and carry on until problems gets solved completely.

Hot Oceans Worsened Dubai’s Dramatic Flooding, Scientists Say

An international team of researchers found that heavy rains had intensified in the region, though they couldn’t say for sure how much climate change was responsible.

Trucks under water with a bridge in the background.

By Raymond Zhong

Scenes of flood-ravaged neighborhoods in one of the planet’s driest regions stunned the world this month. Heavy rains in the United Arab Emirates and Oman submerged cars, clogged highways and killed at least 21 people. Flights out of Dubai’s airport, a major global hub, were severely disrupted.

The downpours weren’t a total surprise — forecasters had anticipated the storms several days earlier and issued warnings. But they were certainly unusual.

Here’s what to know.

Heavy rain there is rare, but not unheard-of.

On average, the Arabian Peninsula receives a scant few inches of rain a year, although scientists have found that a sizable chunk of that precipitation falls in infrequent but severe bursts, not as periodic showers. These rains often come during El Niño conditions like the ones the world is experiencing now.

U.A.E. officials said the 24-hour rain total on April 16 was the country’s largest since records there began in 1949 . And parts of the nation had already experienced an earlier round of thunderstorms in March.

Oman, with its coastline on the Arabian Sea, is also vulnerable to tropical cyclones. Past storms there have brought torrential rain, powerful winds and mudslides, causing extensive damage.

Global warming is projected to intensify downpours.

Stronger storms are a key consequence of human-caused global warming. As the atmosphere gets hotter, it can hold more moisture, which can eventually make its way down to the earth as rain or snow.

But that doesn’t mean rainfall patterns are changing in precisely the same way across every part of the globe.

In their latest assessment of climate research , scientists convened by the United Nations found there wasn’t enough data to have firm conclusions about rainfall trends in the Arabian Peninsula and how climate change was affecting them. The researchers said, however, that if global warming were to be allowed to continue worsening in the coming decades, extreme downpours in the region would quite likely become more intense and more frequent.

Hot oceans are a big factor.

An international team of scientists has made a first attempt at estimating the extent to which climate change may have contributed to April’s storms. The researchers didn’t manage to pin down the connection precisely, though in their analysis, they did highlight one known driver of heavy rain in the region: above-normal ocean temperatures.

Large parts of the Indian, Pacific and Atlantic Oceans have been hotter than usual recently, in part because of El Niño and other natural weather cycles, and in part because of human-induced warming .

When looking only at El Niño years, the scientists estimated that storm events as infrequent as this month’s delivered 10 percent to 40 percent more rain to the region than they would in a world that hadn’t been warmed by human activities. They cautioned, however, that these estimates were highly uncertain.

“Rainfall, in general, is getting more extreme,” said Mansour Almazroui, a climate scientist at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and one of the researchers who contributed to the analysis.

The analysis was conducted by scientists affiliated with World Weather Attribution, a research collaboration that studies extreme weather events shortly after they occur. Their findings about this month’s rains haven’t yet been peer reviewed, but are based on standardized methods .

The role of cloud seeding isn’t clear.

The U.A.E. has for decades worked to increase rainfall and boost water supplies by seeding clouds. Essentially, this involves shooting particles into clouds to encourage the moisture to gather into larger, heavier droplets, ones that are more likely to fall as rain or snow.

Cloud seeding and other rain-enhancement methods have been tried around the world, including in Australia, China, India, Israel, South Africa and the United States. Studies have found that these operations can, at best, affect precipitation modestly — enough to turn a downpour into a bigger downpour, but probably not a drizzle into a deluge.

Still, experts said pinning down how much seeding might have contributed to this month’s storms would require detailed study.

“In general, it is quite a challenge to assess the impact of seeding,” said Luca Delle Monache, a climate scientist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, Calif. Dr. Delle Monache has been leading efforts to use artificial intelligence to improve the U.A.E.’s rain-enhancement program.

An official with the U.A.E.’s National Center of Meteorology, Omar Al Yazeedi, told news outlets that the agency didn’t conduct any seeding during the latest storms. His statements didn’t make clear, however, whether that was also true in the hours or days before.

Mr. Al Yazeedi didn’t respond to emailed questions from The New York Times, and Adel Kamal, a spokesman for the center, didn’t have further comment.

Cities in dry places just aren’t designed for floods.

Wherever it happens, flooding isn’t just a matter of how much rain comes down. It’s also about what happens to all that water once it’s on the ground — most critically, in the places people live.

Cities in arid regions often aren’t designed to drain very effectively. In these areas, paved surfaces block rain from seeping into the earth below, forcing it into drainage systems that can easily become overwhelmed.

One recent study of Sharjah , the capital of the third-largest emirate in the U.A.E., found that the city’s rapid growth over the past half-century had made it vulnerable to flooding at far lower levels of rain than before.
