Patna University PhD Admission 2023 Eligibility Criteria

• Online applications are invited for admission in Ph.D Programme (Course Work) latest by July 17, 2023 from the candidates who have been declared qualified in Ph.D. Admission Test (PAT) conducted by Patna University or have qualified NET/JRF.
• Applicants who fulfill the eligibility criteria laid down in the “Common Ordinance and Regulations for the award of Ph.D degree” duly approved vide letter no. BSU-05/2010-2684/GS(I) dated 21-09-2017 of the Governor’s Secretariat, Bihar will have to deposit an online fee of Rs. 300/-.
• The selection / admission is subject to the availability of vacancies in the subject concerned and as per the amendment approved vide letter no. BSU (Regulation)-05@2010-3230 /GS(I) dated 18.12.2018 of the Governor’s Secretariat. The reservation policy of the state Government shall be followed.

Educational Criteria

• Candidates having Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-Point scale(or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).
• A Relaxation of 5% marks from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade will be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/EBC/BC/Differently abled categories of candidates.
• A candidate shall ordinarily be permitted to pursue research for the Ph.D. degree in the subject in which he/she holds Master’s degree.

The print copy of the duly filled out form complete in all respects along with the self-attested copies of the academic records and other relevant documents will be accepted in the Department of the subject concerned by hand or by the speed post.

Candidate will have to deposit an online fee of Rs. 300/-.

Patna University PhD Admission 2023 Selection Process

Selection will be through PhD Entrance Test – PAT 2022 and Interview.

Exemptions from the written Test of PhD Admission Test (PAT) –

• Candidates who have secured grants for research such as fellowship /scholarship /associateship etc. by qualifying UGC NET /CSIR NET / GATE / MHRD Scholarships/Teacher Fellowship/ DBT/ ICMR/ ICAR/ DST-INSPIRE/ CSSIIRC,HR etc.
• Assistant Professors, Associate Professor and Professor who has been appointed on substantive post in the UGC pay scale in the Teaching departments or the University or a constituent college of the University who have completed their probation successfully with an experience of at least two years of uninterrupted service would be considered under this category. Teachers appointed in self finance courses will not be exempted from the Test.
• Non-teaching employee of the University, who are holding substantive appointment for more than five years and having at least 55% marks in Master’s degree in the subject concerned and with at least two research papers published in any reputed refereed journal or journals identified by the UGC would be considered under this category.

Important dates, patna university phd admission test (pat) – 2022 details.

• The PAT is a written test comprising two papers of 100 marks each.
• Paper I – 100 marks : objective/ multiple choice questions on general and research aptitude.
• Paper II – 100 marks : subjective type in the subject concerned based on syllabus (excluding elective papers) of the Post-Graduate courses of the Patna University.
• Interview – 20 marks : It is mandatory for all including exempted candidates to appear before the interview Board.
• For General candidates – 50% aggregate marks
• For Reserved category candidates – 45% aggregate marks

Exam Pattern

• The selection of the candidate will be on the basis of marks obtained in PAT and interview combined together.
• Multiple Choice type
• No. of Question: 50
• Duration of examination:1 hour.
• No negative marking.
• Examination will be conducted on OMR sheet.
• Students are not allowed to take out the question booklet of Paper I.
• Subjective, Duration of Examination 2 Hours.
• Based on the syllabus (excluding elective papers) of the Post-Graduate Course of Patna University.
• Group A : 30 marks – 5×6 = 30
• Group B: 40 marks – 4×10 = 40
• Group C: 30 marks – 2×15 = 30
• Group A: Total Eight short answer type questions to be set out of which five are to be answered (expected length of each answer – 150 words approximately).
• Group B: Total seven questions to be set of which four are to be answered (expected length of each answer – 200 words approximately).
• Group C: Total Four questions to be set of which two are to be answered (expected length of each answer 500 words approximately).
• The candidates are directed to answer questions in sequential order.

The patna university has released the official notification of the Ph.D. Admission 2022 and The test will be conducted in following subjects.

Eligibility for Ph.D. Admission Test (PAT – 2022)

The eligibility for appearing in Ph.D. Admission Test 2022 are as follows:

• Candidate shall have a master’s degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7 point scale (or a equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).
• A relaxation of 5% is allowed for SC/ ST/ EBC/ OBC/ Differently-Abled categories of candidate.
• A candidate shall ordinarily be permitted to pursue research for Ph.D. degree in the subject in which he/she holds Master’s degree.

The written test has been divided in two parts.

Paper 1st – 100 Marks

Examination will be conducted on OMR sheet and there will be negative marking.

Paper 2nd – 100 Marks

Duration of Examination: 2 hours

Based on the syllabus (excluding elective papers) of the Post-Graduation course of patna university.

patna university cut-off realise date

Patna University has released the application forms for PG (Post graduate) and UG (under graduation) courses. Last to apply for UG courses is 20th August 2021 and last date to apply for PG programs without late fee fine is 27th August 2021, with late fee fine of Rs. 50 is 2nd September 2021.

There is no official announcement regarding the cutoff lists for various program, but is supposed to out soon once the registration window is closed.

Very important:

·          You must use a Gmail email id for making payment and filling online application (a Google form). You can create a Gmail email id for free if you don’t have one.

·          The online application process consists of two steps: (A) Online Payment and (B) Online application submission . Both (A) and (B) should be done with the same Gmail email id. Use of the same email id is important to match the application and payment details.

·          You cannot use an email id that you have used for a previous PhD admission event at NIT Patna. Use of such an email id will retrieve a previous payment receipt and will not allow you to make a payment for the current event. Hence, a different email id must be used.

·          If you want to apply for PhD in multiple departments at NIT Patna, then (A) and (B) need to be done separately for application in each department and with a unique Gmail email id for each application.
