Monique Lassooij “Dona Isabel and her Control” – I love her because she is a paradox: all dressed up with lace and holding a fat control. She is no longer just 18th century, she is a young woman of today and in control.

Lena Levin “Surrender” – It’s hard to choose a favorite, but this painting is important to me because it expresses an idea fundamental to my work: Art is not an act of self-expression, but an act of surrender to something greater than yourself.

James Duke “New York Lite Moon” – Created this circle style of painting 1990. I like the mesmerizing quality of the painting, the sublime sense of presence and motion, the push and pull created by the circles!

Evie Zimmer “Bloom” – This is the first painting which I strayed from my plan, spontaneously adding a blue orb and leaves. Since then, these elements have become common in many of my paintings.

O. Yemi Tubi “Arab Revolution” – Inspired by Renaissance Artists and political issues around the world, like Renaissance artists I like to use my works to express my view about what is happening around the world.

Ann Hardy “Samovar and Reflective Cup” – I found this samovar in a small used furniture store in Polson, Montana. Could hardly wait to paint it.

Sherry Salant “Protecting the Ranch” – I love trees and this tree brings me a sense of joy in its vibrance. There are two small horses in the background, and the tree offers protection. That is what trees mean to me, offer safety and protection for us all.

Gabe Langholtz “Lightness” – This is a balanced representation of the modern and naïve styles that influence my work. I find the neutral color pallet and spatial relationship between the objects aesthetically pleasing.

Kathleen Elam “Orchid Attraction” – Hummingbirds are such spiritual beings, mystical and magical, which is why everyone loves them. This particular photograph seems to bring a special energy to any room in which it hangs.

Elaine Alibrandi “Queen of Ages” – This aged tree is rising up to meet the impending storm head on and standing tall with arms raised, almost conjuring the clouds. She is a true queen.

Robin Sierra “Walking Rain” – Walking rain occurs on the mesas of New Mexico. Because you can see very long distances in the southwest, this wall of rain ‘walks’ slowly across the sky and can be seen many miles away.

Brian Goshorn “Trebulon #1 Cherry Blossom Burst” – This was the first painting I did in the style that I now continue to work in. In many ways this is my “Rosetta Stone” and revealed to me how and why I am now creating paintings like these. I keep going back to it for inspiration.

Arthur Jacob “Morning Bloom” – Softness, color, shapes, movement, and lighting to reflect beginning of morning.

Val Lally “Sunlight Dancing” – It was not the illumination of greens but the movement of the light on the palm fronds that I feel I captured, making it a favorite.

Kris Mercer “Borough Market” – My daughter’s first London flat was opposite ‘Borough Market’ so it’s a place I love and know well. Some real characters work there, including the two from the wine merchants.

Nicole Curcio “Mi Ciudad es Tu Ciudad” – This is my favorite painting. An accidental collaboration- my friend started it and her colors and lines inspired me to experiment with a much looser painting style.

Lesley White “Rain Dance” – So many juicy challenges in this piece. Leather, fur, metal, and textiles, but most importantly conveying the element of movement.

Bonnie Shapiro “Looking Through a Haze of Memories” – Early one morning, I happened to pass by a roadside carnival and stopped to wander around. The light was lovely as it bounced off the white of the Whirly Bird.

Jerry Schmutz “Old Courthouse Reflection” – This image, with the American flag, symbolizes the tumultuous and fractured history of the Courthouse – and of America itself – from the Louisiana Purchase to the present.

Tim Howe “Autumn’s Festival” – I llustrates my passion for blending several styles within one piece…my contemporary interpretation of a landscape with both abstract and recognizable images of nature that being the birch trees. It incorporates movement, texture and illustrates that there are no boundaries in nature as in art …all within a favorite color palette.

Jules Summers “Fragant Friesians” – I have too many favourite artworks, so I had others choose one for me! I adore cows, they are beautiful souls, make great friends and are full of fun and personality.

Mel Thompson “Jordan Pond” – This scene was inspired by a wonderful trip to Acadia National Park a few years ago. I love the solitude and tranquility of the water and the mountains hit by the morning sunlight in the background framed by the beautiful arcing tree branch.

Linda Harrison-Parsons “Tight Quarters” – This small piece takes me back to Africa. My art documents moments in time. Preserving nature and wildlife that is here today and may be gone tomorrow.

Lisa Crisman “Into the Wild Blue Yonder” – I LOVE using bold and vibrant color combinations. For me these vivid color selections are exhilarating and add a sense of the magical and mystical that surrounded my childhood years.

Shannon Fannin “Chevy Bel Air” – I paint cars expressively to bring the beauties that are stored in the garage, into our homes and lives. Cars are works of art. I’m especially in love with CHROME.

Danielle Trudeau “Liefde is die Antwoord” – During my recent trip to South Africa, I was absolutely taken with the beauty of the land and nature that makes up that beautiful country and knew my goal upon returning home was to capture some of the magic and life that I experienced.

Stephanie Estrin “Lost and Found” – I loved painting on this expansive space and getting my whole body into it. I worked through a lot of emotions in the process of this painting.

Nochlin goes in-depth to point out women’s part in art history. She focuses on unjust opportunities presented to women compared to their male peers, labeling it the “Woman Problem.” This problem demands a reinterpretation of the situation’s nature and the need for radical change. She persuades women to see themselves as equal subjects deserving of comparable achievements men receive.

Throughout her essay, she delves into the institutional barriers that prevented women from reaching the heights of famous male art icons.

“Art is the use of skill and imagination in the creation of aesthetic objects that can be shared with others. It involves the arranging of elements in a way that appeals to the senses or emotions and acts as a means of communication with the viewer as it represents the thoughts of the artist.”

The author defines art as a medium to connect with others and an action. She focuses on Jamaican art and the feelings it invokes. She introduces Osmond Watson, whose philosophy includes uplifting the masses and making people aware of their beauty – he explains one of his works, “Peace and Love.”

“But I’ve felt this way before, especially with my art. And my experience with artmaking has taught me how to get through periods of struggle. My art has taught me to accept where I am today… My art has taught me that whatever marks I make on the page are good enough… My art has taught me that the way through struggle is to acknowledge, accept and share my struggle.”

Nishiyama starts her essay by describing how writing makes her feel. She feels pressured to create something “great” after her maternity leave, causing her to struggle. She says she pens essays to process her experiences as an artist and human, learning alongside the reader. She ends her piece by acknowledging her feelings and using her art to accept them.

“I was saying that sometimes I feel sorry for wild animals, out there in the dark, looking for something to eat while in fear of being eaten. And they have no ballet companies or art museums. Animals of course are not aware of their lack of cultural activities, and therefore do not regret their absence.”

Padgett recounts telling his wife how he thinks it’s unfortunate for animals not to have cultural activities, therefore, can’t appreciate art. He shares the genetic mapping of humans being 99% chimpanzees and is curious about the 1% that makes him human and lets him treasure art. His essay piques readers’ minds, making them interested in how art elevates human life through summoning admiration from lines and colors.

“One of the first questions raised when talking about art is simple — why should we care? Art, especially in the contemporary era, is easy to dismiss as a selfish pastime for people who have too much time on their hands. Creating art doesn’t cure disease, build roads, or feed the poor.”

Because art can easily be dismissed as a pastime, the author lists why it’s precious. It includes exercising creativity, materials used, historical connection, and religious value.

Essays About Art: Art that I won't forget

Is there an art piece that caught your attention because of its origin? First, talk about it and briefly summarize its backstory in your essay. Then, explain why it’s something that made an impact on you. For example, you can write about the Mona Lisa and her mysterious smile – or is she smiling? You can also put theories on what could have happened while Leonardo da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa.

Rather than focusing on mainstream arts like ballet and painting, focus your essay on unconventional art or something that defies usual pieces, such as avant-garde art. Then, share what you think of this type of art and measure it against other mediums.

How did art change over the centuries? Explain the differences between ancient and modern art and include the factors that resulted in these changes.

Visual analysis is a way to understand art centered around what the eyes can process. It includes elements like texture, color, line, and scale. For this prompt, find a painting or statue and describe what you see in your essay.

Since art is a broad topic, you can narrow your research by choosing only the most significant moments in art history. For instance, if you pick English art, you can divide each art period by century or by a king’s ruling time. You can also select an artist and discuss their pieces, their art’s backstory, and how it relates to their life at the time.

Who Is Your Favorite Visual Artist? What Is Your Favorite Work of Art?

Do you have a favorite work of art? Who created it? Is that person your favorite visual artist? If not, who is?

Have you ever been to an art exhibit at a museum or seen art in your community, such as sculptures in a park? What do you think? In “ Meet Warhol, Again, in This Brilliant Whitney Show ,” Holland Cotter reviews a new retrospective of art by Andy Warhol. He writes:

Mr. Paradox, who never left, is back. Although, technically, “Andy Warhol — From A to B and Back Again” at the Whitney Museum of American Art is the artist’s first full American retrospective in 31 years, over that span he’s been so much with us — in museums, in galleries, on auction blocks, on Calvin Klein poplin shirts — as to make a survey seem almost redundant. At the same time, his ever-presence has made him, like wallpaper, like atmosphere, only half-noticed. He’s there, but do we care? We can’t not. He’s the most important American artist of the second half of the 20th century. The Whitney show vividly restores him to full, commanding view, and reasserts his importance for a new generation, but does so in a carefully shaped and edited way.

This was a big week for the world of art, including a bidding war over an Andy Warhol painting and the Museum of Modern Art’s annual Party in the Garden, which raised $4 million for the museum , thanks in part to a performance by Kanye West and Jay-Z. When was the last time you went to an art museum? Why do you think people go to look at works of art? What are your favorite works of art, even if you’ve never seen them in person?

In “Kanye West Turns Melodious and Moody at MoMA,” Jon Caramanica writes:

After a roaring take on “Runaway,” during which he pounded on his MPC, he began addressing, well, everyone. “Thank you for loving me when they told you not to love me,” he half-sang, through an Auto-Tunelike effect, rendering him an emotional cyborg. “I’m sorry about anybody out there that had to fight for me. Do you know what it feels like to be hated, do you know what it feels like to be degraded?” There was more, about his alleged racism, about branding and marketing, about his late mother: “I know she’s smiling down.” It’s likely that the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden had never seen such twisted pain. It was filled with a crowd of more than 1,000 — largely men in expensive suits and women in more expensive dresses — and some of its more delicate pieces were roped off, for their own safety. A smattering of well-known faces worked the room: Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs; the actor Aziz Ansari in a slim suit, cutting through the crowd at warp speed, trailed by a similarly outfitted entourage.

My favourite works of art include but are not limited to paintings by impressionists and post-impressionist painters such as Van Gogh, Renoir, Bazille, and Monet. I like these paintings because they portray things in a beautiful yet different way. They are realistic yet not realistic at the same time. I would go see any of these artists works in a museum if I had the opportunity.

My favorite works of art are Renaissance era. I like them cause they were made for rebellion and they have a strong significant meaning behind them. If I could ever see any in real life that would be amazing.

Although i haven’t seen it in person, my favorite work of art is The Pieta sculpture by Michelangelo Buonarroti. In fact, one of my things on my bucket list is to see the sculpture in person. The reason why i love it is because of the extreme detail and the emotion that it portrays. I don’t know how Michelangelo was able to incorporate the emotion but I’m glad he did. Also it was the first piece of art with a signature.

I dont really have a particular favorite piece of art work. However, i have a favorite artist. He is better known as “Banksy” his actually name in unknown and no one knows what he looks like. Although all his art work is done illegally, he has many fans and followers. I have seen one of his pieces of work a few years ago in New York. His works interest me because they do not last long because his works are often painted over after a while.

My favorite works of art is the Japanese ink painting – Sumi-E. It’s an old form of art and one of my favorite artists is Sesshu. Sesshu is considered one of the greatest Sumi-E artists of all time. Living during the Muromachi period, Sesshu traveled to the home of ink wash, China, in order to gain a better understanding of the art. He took what he learned and transformed it in to a style that was uniquely Japanese. This old form of art is uniquely different from modern art and very traditional.

My favorite work of art is the Mona Lisa; it probably is the most famous painting that even if you don’t know anything about history you would still know about the Mona Lisa. I rarely go to art museums the only time I went to an art museum was when I was in the 5th grade. That is when I first saw the Mona Lisa and fell so fascinated by the historical background around it. The biggest emotion in that painting that is mostly seen is that she looks very sad and looks lonely. I like art from the renaissance art because it has a lot of detail and a story to every part of it.

Monet, Fragonard, Vermeer, but I really love Hopper, because he expresses emotions perfectly. I can see myself in his paintings.

I love Andy Goldsworthy. I’m not really confined to any one specific artist, but I really like modern art, and art that has some sort of message (especially about the environment). Miró is also awesome. Plus I love street artists, I know this sounds like I’m trying too hard to sounds cool, but Shepard Fairey is the bomb. So is Banksy (or so are Banksy as I think he is actually a group of people).

My favourite work of art is the one painted on the ceiling of the Vatican. It is beautiful. It’s impressive to look up and finding such majestic work of art decorating such great building’s ceiling. I would love to see in person one of Grandma Moses pieces of art.

My favorite kind of art is music. Music is my life, and it is so important to me. After all, music is an art, foreign language, a science, and also a little bit of math. Every day, I come home and all I do is play my guitar.

There are lots of different pieces of art in the world. I don’t know which one would be my favorit. But, I do like Warhol’s cars. The paintings are very rare these days so it was very cool to see the paintings when I went to a museum. I like Warhol’s cars because they are very unique. I would always dream of having one of his paintings. But they probably bid for so much money! Also, not only his cars are cool but the Campbells’ Soup cans he paints are also cool. He painted about 30 Campbells’ Soup cans, and they are all different! It is so amazing how he makes such fine art!

Some of my favorite works of art are by Andy Warhol. I really like his cars. The cars show how you can really use blank space in your art. I really like art that’s out of the ordinary, like painting a soup can. I also like when art isn’t just on a canvas, like how Any Warhol has painted on real and model cars. I also like models. I have seen some of Warhol’s model cars and they are really cool! I like modern art, but mostly Any Warhol.

My favorite work of art would have to be Lily pads by Claude Monet. I saw the real painting at MOMA (Museum Of Modern Art) in New York City. It is so beautiful the way that Monet blends the colors with the delicate flowers on the painting. You can see the reflection of a sunset on the pond if you look very closely. I also love Andy Warhol’s soup can paintings. He painted something so simple that no one would think was special, and made the paintings famous!

I haven’t been to many art museums but so far I loved Andy Warhols cars! They were really interesting and fun to look at and here about. Not only did he draw for fun but he took photos and tried to make cars safer. When I went to the exhibit I love watching him paint the car and the little model got me hooked. He raced in France and got 6th place out of 30 other professional racers. I loved some things in the exhibit like how he would draw on his car for fun. Their was a lot of car stuff in the exhibit. I loved the section of the wall where there was a bunch of different tires all twisted together with different patterns all around. Some people would find this very sloppy and not well done but I thought it was really really cool I wish I could make something like that. If I had to pick a favorite artist and exhibit it would definitely be Andy Warhol and his cars!

When students fail in school, I think its the students fault. I wouldn’t blame my teacher for my failure because the teacher provides us with the materials and information. Its our job to take that information and use that to do our part. I think the student is also the blame because if they choose not to do their work they should expect the grade that they get. If they want to be successful in life and school they need to put the time and effort into it. It will pay off later. The parent on the other hand could have something to do with the students grade in school. Kids look up to their parents and if they see that the parent doesn’t care about their grades, they wont care either. The parents needs to push the child and tell them that if they want to be successful in life, they need to do good in school and finish school. Parents have a big impact in their child and if the parent shows they care, they will be pushed to do good things in school as well as life. Kids make excuses for why they dont do their work and blame other people. Being a student myself I know why kids do this but we need to be more responsible.

My favorite work of art is Stary Night becasue it says to me that God is wacthing over all of us, through the bad and good times.

I don’t have a favorite art work but I enjoy looking at art. The arts from the old times are very interesting because artist portray their paintings on what is happening in that year. A painting that I usually enjoy is The Last Supper from Leonardo da Vinci. I mostly see that painting when I go do other people’s houses.

My favorite work of art is Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh. I love the contrast of the colors yellow and dark blue. What I like most about the painting are the shape of the structure in black and the background of this painting. This painting looks very simple yet complicated. The stars make this painting suffisticated.

So you love painting right? great, in today’s essay presentation we are covering an essay topic on my favourite hobby is painting, just for you. I hope you like it!

Painting has been a hobby I have embraced for quite some time. Ever since I took the paintbrush and just crafted something on paper, I have never looked back on it. Painting has been a hobby that gives me joy because I can draw my imaginations into an art piece and make the best out of it.

In my own free time, I find peace in painting and looking back to how I spend my leisure, and it has undoubtedly been worth it. My paintings have been quite inspiring to my friends and me as they are mostly of issues in life. Once I sat down and set my mind on a painting, I tend to get into the brush itself and paint just as how I view the inspiration.

As people look for hobbies to engage in, there are certain benefits they look forward to reaping in it. Painting as a hobby has been a great way to relax. In life, I encounter challenges and various stumbling blocks.

I look for my escape in painting so that I can breathe and think about my issues in my own space. When I get challenges instead of overthinking, I tend to draw my energy into painting because the brush has a vibe with me.

I can breathe and paint, and after crafting my art, I feel at peace and relax because I put my focus and think peacefully about the matter. My friends have seen me paint when I am having issues, and they tend to note the tone of my painting reflects my mood because I paint based on issues of life.

Through hard work and the fact that I have learned the skill in painting my confidence has certainly improved. I have often showcased my work to those close to me and several exhibitions, not for sale but for the exchange of compliments.

Through the applaud of the excellent work I get in this hobby, my confidence in handling issues has undoubtedly improved.

Fear of being not good at things has indeed escaped my mind because I see myself worthy of handling matters since I realized that I am a good painter, yet it’s just a hobby I embraced over the years as I was looking for sound therapy.

Getting positive, positive vibes and acknowledgement have indeed built and moulded me to perfect my craft in painting and life.

Painting requires you to be open-minded about how you will go about crafting the perfect art piece. It has undoubtedly helped me be open about how I view my imagination so that I can paint and make the best in my paintings.

I do not articulate my mind on how the painting is supposed to be, but instead, just let my brush and my hand drive and inspire the painting.

In life, this has enabled me to have an open mind on handling issues and become a listener, just like how I listen to my brush. It has helped me become more of a listener and not a complainer on matters.

I have been able to reason with others just like how I can now correctly reason as I paint to make the right curves with my brush. I do not fix myself in because I am not perfect but instead listen and have an open mind to accommodate the thoughts of others.

Painting has enabled me to open up my mind and accommodate other inspirations as I also draw other masterpieces to paint perfectly.

While painting, I have come to appreciate various cultures and diversities of life. As I paint, I can include multiple cultures and ways of life through which people have lived and understand the difference between them and me.

I have learned quite a lot through various pieces of paint canvases as people paint in themes of life which have been my focus. It has enabled me to relate well with people as I understand them better through painting and getting to know their ways and reasons behind their cultures.
