ChatGPT provided a series of specific questions grouped by theme, making it easy to browse by category and shortlist interesting interview questions. As always, more detailed prompts usually lead to more quality outputs.

Extracting Themes, Details, and Quotes From Interviews

Once you’ve interviewed the champion customer and solution provider SME, you can share these transcripts with ChatGPT as PDFs or text to extract key themes, ideas, details, and testimonials.

Extracting insights from interview transcripts is where the magic can happen. Instead of giving ChatGPT a raw list of stats and facts about the success story and letting it fill in the gaps, feed it an original narrative that can help the LLM assist you in turning it into a persuasive story.

Here, I shared a 2,700-word interview transcript with ChatGPT, prompting it to extract impactful insights relevant to a case study. This prompt was loose and generic, but the AI could still extract and categorize the key messages into a structured summary much more quickly than a person reading through the entire 25-minute conversation.

I took that one step further to pull the facts and figures mentioned in the interview, also asking for impactful quotes to feature. ChatGPT is pretty good at pulling and organizing the data points. If you’re specific enough about your goals and persona in your prompt, you can also try using it to spot specific individual statements from the interview that would resonate with your target audience.

How Much Text Can ChatGPT Process?

When working with large portions of text, ChatGPT and other LLM tools are limited in how many characters or words they can receive and send at a time. Longer words can reduce the word limit and take more time to process. Prompts and outputs are measured by ‘tokens’.

Here are the current token limits and numbers of words for ChatGPT according to OpenAI forums:

  • ChatGPT-3.5 (the free version of ChatGPT) : 1,000 to ~4,000 words (4,096 tokens)
  • ChatGPT-4 (available with a paid subscription) : 2,000 to ~6,000 words (8,192 tokens)

The paid version of ChatGPT allows you to work with larger ‘context windows’ than the free version. ChatGPT’s input and output character limits have improved over time and continued to, but there are tools like Claude that are competitively made to support even larger context windows.

Case studies usually follow a fairly conventional formula to simplify the process for potential customers when evaluating various brands and options. They typically must cover a few essential angles to result in successful lead generation.

Case studies usually look something like this:

  • An introduction with key highlights and facts/figures
  • An overview of the customer and their situation
  • Challenges and pain points before the solution
  • Choosing the solution, the experience, the benefits
  • The astonishing outcomes, impact, and value

If you already have an established template for your case studies, you could start by giving ChatGPT an outline as simple as this – or with even more detail. Another option is to brainstorm and experiment with new formats, inspired by ChatGPT’s recommendations as well as your data, goals, personas, interview footage, and even competitor’s case studies.

ChatGPT-4 also has a new ability to visit links and analyze pages you share with it (assuming the site hasn’t blocked GPT’s bots .) This makes it easy to gather an analyze competitor examples at scale, so you can position your own case study wisely in the market.

Even with lots of material available for ChatGPT to learn from, you shouldn’t let ChatGPT draft 100% of your case study. If you don’t have a documented persona, try prompting ChatGPT to build one from a customer interview transcript. Since ChatGPT can remember the full conversation (to an extent) you can follow up a prompt to edit your draft with that persona in mind.

To me, this is the cool part; iteratively experimenting and learning from how the AI chatbot changes its approach to revising your case study. It can spark your imagination and gives you some cool ideas of your own.

Using the words and phrases your intended audience easily understands and feels comfortable with helps your case study be more personal and persuasive. ChatGPT can help you brainstorm those. It can also help you spot and re-phrase or remove jargon and slang that may be unfamiliar or confusing to your audience.

Your case study copywriting is almost complete. You might normally send the draft to a colleague for feedback at this stage. Before you do that, try running your draft by ChatGPT first.

Key decision-makers in B2B businesses actively seek out word-of-mouth content about potential AI partners (like you!). So the easier they can find case studies on your website, the better.

Of the AI businesses we analyzed doing case studies, most make it easy to locate their case study overview page (where prospects see your complete portfolio of case studies at a glance.)

A common journey is via ‘Resources’ in the main navigation bar, followed by a link to ‘Customer Stories’, ‘Client Stories’, ‘Case Studies’, or similar.

For example, Otter.ai has their customer stories slightly buried in their “Blog” section , with an easy-to-miss category link. We don’t love this, because there’s no clear reason someone should expect to find this type of content in the blog vs. a “Customers” section or otherwise:

You’ve put in the hard work sourcing concrete proof for potential buyers; don’t put hurdles in the way of finding it.

The ‘overview’ for your customer story page is where customers are going to either continue their journey with intention—or stumble around in the dark.

A great overview page provides a clear sense of hierarchy (what’s important?), organization (what’s here, and what’s for me?) and expectation (what’s on the other side of the click?).

Take Jasper.ai for example:

Their overview page starts strong with a compelling bit of social proof (100,000+ businesses? Holy toledo!). Having a featured story is great (more on that later), though the headline for the one in the image sort of buries the lede (800% surge in traffic!? Holy toledo!)

After that, the page offers no clear way to drill down with intention: A lead is left to scroll through the logos presented to see if there are any companies they know of, or choose a story at random—most likely the featured story or the one in the upper left of the grid.

That’s not as ideal: you’d much rather have a customer quickly find the stories most relevant to THEM.

Boston Dynamics is one AI business worth emulating on that front.

A no-nonsense intro tells prospects they’re on the right page: “Discover success stories from real customers putting our robotics systems to work.”

If you choose to run a featured case study on your overview page, choose a high-impact one that appeals directly to…

  • A substantial result (with metrics ideally), if your audience is skeptical about ROI
  • A strong quote on the alleviation of pain (if metrics aren’t available)
  • A weighty promise of value if your audience is looking for something to aspire to
  • A clear ‘how-to’ hook if your audience is curious about the logistics/implementation

Next, Boston Dynamics provides a comprehensive list of case studies. It’s important that prospects can easily slice and dice these to find studies that are most relevant.

Boston Dynamics does this in a couple of ways:

First, they provide filters by ‘topic’, ‘application’, and ‘industry focus’. Second, they stamp each preview image with the main use case in that study.

Potential buyers can sort the ‘safety’ wheat from the ‘inspection’ chaff with or without filters.

There are other ways to optimize your overview page and help buyers find relevant case studies fast.

Consider using imagery that reflects your customers’ industry or specialism. Also include company logos, so prospects recognize relatable brands.

Another AI business with a strong overview page is Dynatrace . Like Boston Dynamics, they kick off with a featured story:

Instead of creating intrigue with a juicy title and intro, Dynatrace runs a ‘hero’ quote.

A strong quote from your interviewee, at the outset, can spike prospects’ serotonin levels, create intrigue and add credibility.

Dynatrace’s hero quote isn’t as dynamic as it could be, though it’s still strong, speaking to specific benefits (clarity and visibility).

Dynatrace offers a video testimonial (rather than written) as their featured story, something we’re all for when context for the content has been provided like it has been with the hero quote.

Video adds even more trust for buyers because they see the speaker’s reactions and emotions right there in front of them (though be careful not to conceal the interviewee’s face with the play button!)

Again, Dynatrace provides an easy-to-segment list of stories. Brand-focused imagery, company logos, and filter functionality make digging out relevant content a breeze:

  LIGHTBULB MOMENT: Want to take filtering in your AI business to the next level? Buyers want more clarity on your ROI, so why not provide an ROI filter that highlights common KPIs/outcomes that matter to customers (e.g. savings, time savings, increased sales, reduced errors, improved retention, etc.)?

2. I can see clearly now: the importance of readability

Executed properly, case studies mimic the powerful effect of word of mouth and can be as persuasive as a trusted recommendation from friends.

But AI businesses face an added challenge: while you know your AI solution inside out, buyers could be confused by the complexity of your technology.

In any B2B business, multiple people will likely be involved in any buying decision. If your case study is meant to appeal to (typically) less tech-savvy buyers (e.g. CEOs, CMOs, etc.), then avoiding complex jargon is key.

One way to do this is to put the customers’ quotes and narrative at the core of the story.

6 quick tips for writing an AI case study well

Before we dive into examples of the best written case studies for AI, here are some basics to bear in mind:

1. Every great story has a beginning, middle, and end. Case studies follow more or less the same flow: a headline, a challenge, a solution, and the results you achieved.

2. Every good story needs a hero, so introduce yours—your client. Your leads care about the transformation of someone like them, facing similar pressures and decisions. You want to build tension and stakes to make the story relatable, highlighting relatable pains and making the story feel personal.

Remember: heroes are rarely idiots—don’t make your customer look like one.

3. Explain in specific detail how your hero’s pain got solved. To demonstrate your value, you want to help the reader feel the same relief, security, and confidence that the actual customer experienced. Don’t just list the features that the customer used: tie everything back to a specific, desirable outcome and a practical “how.”

4. Address specific AI-related objections in the content. If leads worry about integration, explain it in your customers’ words. If they’re worried about security, aim for quotes covering this. A lot of this comes down to properly planning and structuring interviews with your clients.

5. Share the impact beyond the metrics (but the metrics, too.) In the ‘results’ section, metrics matter—but so does clearly showing the transformation that has taken place. Use specific examples of what a customer can do now, or do better. Share from their output, portfolio, or specific process if you can.

Make it real with tangible examples.

6. Avoid jargon, complicated words, and creative adjectives, unless… Jargon is to be killed with fire UNLESS your customers use that same jargon and identify with it (e.g. technical roles that prize their acronyms and lingo.)

Now, let’s get into what we saw in AI case studies out in the wild.

Across the companies we analyzed, we identified A LOT of impenetrable language and off putting jargon. A huge chunk of stories were so chewy, most non-technical B2B buyers would probably spit them out, for example:

“The ‘xxx (technology)’ provides a framework for energy operators, service providers and equipment providers to offer interoperable solutions, including AI- and physics-based models, and monitoring, diagnostics, prescriptive actions and services for energy use cases.”

These sentences are SO long. Incomprehensible jargon is everywhere. It all means next to nothing, unless you have a deep technical background in that business.

And your buyers may not!

We also found that while AI businesses should always aim for specificity in case studies, content (especially around results) trended towards being vague. For example:

“The collaboration has proven to be a fruitful venture, providing the bank with new opportunities for growth and risk management in the changing financial landscape.”

A fruitful venture? Was it as impactful as a falling watermelon or a shriveled grape?

Remember that buyers are looking for concrete, relatable, “I-can-now-do-this” proof of your capabilities. They want word-of-mouth quotes and powerful metrics.

Not rotten fruit or vague terms.

But it wasn’t all business-speaky doom and gloom. We found some great examples from AI businesses who deliver clarity and simplicity—including UiPath, who excelled at presenting the challenges their customers faced clearly and simply.

“The payroll process is complex, sensitive, and error-prone. It requires the coordination of various departments including HR, finance, and legal. Processing every wage accurately every single time requires massive effort and involves tedious manual tasks.”

UiPath make the story relatable, too, by adding human interest:

“On the micro level, missing a payment or getting it wrong simply isn’t an option when employees have bills to pay and essentials to buy.”

The pain of missing a bill because your employer messed up payroll is recognized by most people. This creates an emotional connection and sympathy in the reader.

And that probably means more engagement with the story at large!

UiPath liberally sprinkles customer quotes throughout their studies, providing a constant reminder that their solution positively impacts real people in the real world, and allowing those people to speak for themselves, in their own terms.

They also seize every opportunity to add vibrant, descriptive language so buyers feel what their customer felt. It reads like a magazine feature in places:

“I was asked to look into automation,” Guez says with a sparkle in his eye , explaining that he came out of retirement to take on his current role. “At the time, RPA was a buzzword. It was still quite a new technology. We needed to get a pilot going to see how it could alleviate this pain point.”

Google DeepMind is another AI solution that tells understandable and engaging customer stories, successfully when it comes to describing complex tech in plain English:

In the circled section, the company describes its Flamingo technology with both clarity and flare.

They use a funny, real-world image—a dog balancing a stack of crackers on its head—that appeals to your senses and creates a vivid and emotional connection with their solution. A visual would almost certainly have added value here!

It’s worth trying similar with your own case studies: find descriptive language, metaphors, or examples that appeal to your audience’s imagination and persuade them to reach out to you.

Google DeepMind takes care to explain every piece of technical language it uses. In another section, they talk about “improving the VP9 codec”. But they don’t leave it hanging like a curveball you can’t hit.

They add a short sentence to explain what they mean: “a coding format that helps compress and transmit video over the internet”. Home run!

3. Who cares: demonstrating value and ROI

Given the risk inherent in choosing the wrong solution or adopting a new product that doesn’t pan out, discerning B2B buyers need a clear picture of the ROI that your AI solutions provide.

Give them that, and you’re already a step ahead of the competition.

Attack the status quo

Your greatest competitors aren’t other AI solutions: they’re what your ideal customers are doing to solve the problem now—and that may very well be nothing.

To make AI customer stories compelling, you need to demonstrate the limitations and risks of sticking with the norm in order to give your solution a backdrop it can stand out against.

DataRobot does a fantastic job of this in their Freddie Mac story:

ThoughtSpot leads the “Challenge” section of their Fabuwood customer story with a comparison against a well-established alternative, Power BI:

In both cases, this not only quickly establishes the shortcomings of the status quo: it also gives leads something to compare this new solution to, instantly putting ThoughtSpot and DataRobot into well-defined categories their customers can understand (“Oh, it would replace X!”) instead of some nebulous “AI” bucket (“Oh, it’s… a new… AI… thing.”)

The importance of metrics in demonstrating ROI

Across the AI businesses we analyzed, there was a noticeable lack of performance metrics in their case studies. This suggests that either customers aren’t seeing strong returns or, more likely, AI firms and their customers find it a challenge to quantify AI investments.

Most organizations using your technology will have considered baseline performance pre-AI, put measurable goals in place and be tracking progress.

To strengthen the impact of your case studies, ask them to provide this quantifiable proof during your interview process. The key here is to be specific about what you ask for.

So what metrics should you ask customers to dig out for you?

Of course, it depends on your products and customers’ goals for using them, but here are some general tips.

Anything related to sales is gold for prospective buyers, such as revenue growth, margin improvements, conversion rates, and customer lifetime value.

Ask, too, about improvements to operations and efficiency, including cost savings, error reduction, productivity improvement, and process optimization.

As well as hard returns, try to unearth softer ones, such as the human impact on your hero, as this will strongly resonate with B2B buyers in similar roles.

Now let’s check out some examples.

Some AI companies do attempt to add weight and muscle to their case studies with metrics. But even the best examples we found have work to do.

Numenta , for example, showcases a hot metric in the headline below. 20x inference acceleration is a big sell for customers operating in the computing space, because it improves the performance of their machines:

To make the headline more intriguing, Numenta could explain the result and impact of this 20x increase in processor speed on their customers. For example, sharing revenue growth or profit margin improvements off the back of this high-speed processor would give other buyers a tempting result they’d want to replicate.

Back to UiPath now, who also use metrics to show how customers reap the benefits of their AI solutions. Here, metrics take center stage at the start of a story :

UiPath has chosen operational metrics here—the number of automations implemented, number of transactions handled by robots, and growth in payrolls they process each day.

While they do provide quantifiable evidence of the impact of AI to their business, they could go further.

For example…

  • If more transactions are being handled by robots, how much time is that saving the business?
  • Has staff retention improved with more dependable payroll?
  • Have they saved costs as a result of greater efficiency?

AI has clearly provided Papaya Global with significant benefits. With a little more work—and arguably more structure at the interview stage—UiPath could have left readers with no doubt about their solution’s ROI.

Going beyond metrics and into examples

Several solutions had demonstrations of outcomes—for example, galleries of outputted imagery or samples of produced work.  Kaiber  has a lovely gallery, as you’d expect from a very visual solution:

Meanwhile Tome comes to bat with stories that disambiguate a use case and explain an outcome that is valuable, but not necessarily quantifiable, like creating a “Personal radio station”:

These are also valuable in terms of demonstrating practical value, but business buyers also speak in terms of ROI, especially when making a case to their bosses for a purchase.

4. Don’t fight it: turning employee pushback into employee buy-in

An ongoing barrier for businesses looking to implement AI solutions is the risk of employee pushback: will staff actually adopt and support new technologies that may fundamentally change how they work?

Strategic AI companies can use customer success stories as a weapon to shoot down those objections.

We found a number of AI businesses using case studies to share the message: “AI is not going to take your job!”

In this case study, UiPath’s customer explains the continued importance of having ‘a human touch’ in the business:

UiPath doesn’t want its customers to say their AI solves everything. Their goal is to make businesses more efficient and successful—not to jeopardize job security.

OpenAI also uses its case studies to battle employee pushback. One powerful line reads:

“Ironclad’s goal in using AI has always been to help people do more, not to replace them with technology.”

Their message couldn’t be clearer to companies looking for an AI solution, while avoiding conflict on the frontline.

Meanwhile, Reply.io works to overcome potential objections by focusing on where teams are likely to take issue: with the quality of work done by AI relative to a human.

They cover this potential staff objection right in the story, proactively shooting a barrier to adoption out of the sky.

4. Muzzled, not muted: make ‘anonymous’ compelling

In an ideal world, all your customers would let you tell the story of how you helped them succeed. In the real world, customers aren’t always comfortable publicly talking about their AI use, even when they’re thrilled.

Sometimes, they’re constrained by their legal departments. Other times, they make a call that the story’s just too sensitive and decline to participate.

One way around this is to ask customers to share their story anonymously. But can stories be compelling weapons of mass conversion if you don’t mention any names?

Yes, absolutely.

Let’s look at how one of the AI companies we analyzed, C3 AI , produces powerful anonymous studies, like this one :

C3 AI anonymizes this case study, but manages to maintaining most of its impact by:

  • Demonstrating the prestige of the customer with a sidebar packed with detail (see ‘About the Company’ in the graphic above)
  • Turning anonymity into a plus by sharing metrics the company might not make public if their name was associated with it (ie, $9M in accelerated operating income)
  • Including it alongside multiple case studies that are named. Taken together, the anonymous study has as much credibility as named studies.

What more can you do?

You can further retain the power of anonymous studies by:

  • Including compelling, in-depth quotes from the people involved, swapping out names for descriptive titles and gender-neutral pronouns.
  • Providing as much detail as non-anonymous studies; telling the full story of why the customer chose you, what their journey looked like, and how you made a difference. You don’t need to provide names to demonstrate how you delivered real ROI.

5. Trust me, bro: getting your leads to believe the hype

As a B2B buyer, it’s hard to know whether companies are spinning you a genuine opportunity—or a yarn. Trust is tough to earn and keep.

Case studies immediately cut through the sales spiel and provide concrete proof straight from customers’ mouths.

By nature, case studies are powerful trust builders because they show rather than tell. You can maximize that opportunity by including additional ‘trust’ signals throughout your stories.

Devices such as customer quotes, customer headshots, and customer logos all do the job.

During our analysis of AI case studies, we found most companies use direct customer quotes to foster trust.

In an environment where many AI businesses have an ROI problem, customer quotes are critical. Buyers can hear exactly how other people just like them have benefited from your solutions, proving that your brand is worth buying.

OpenAI uses quotes well to enhance the credibility of their customer stories :

GoGwilt recalled the initial excitement within his legal engineering team as they saw what OpenAI’s models could do for contracting. “There was the first moment of the team saying, ‘Wow, this is producing work at the level of a first-year associate,’” he said.

It’s powerful for a buyer when they hear someone—in a role that resonates with their own—describing the ‘wow’ moment your product provides.

Here’s another example of how customer quotes can build emotion, trust, and buy-in:

We’re big believers (supported by data) that prioritizing long-form customer stories on your website improves online visibility and provides proof of your expertise and authority.

But time-starved B2B buyers also need to be catered for.

That means presenting success stories in a scannable (or watchable) way that helps even wandering eyeballs catch the best bits.

Formatting and design devices, including top and sidebars, pull quotes, and images all help readers find proof of your capabilities without reading the entire study.

PROS is one company setting good scannability standards in their customer stories, like this one on Lufthansa :

  • Some 44% of workers use AI at work, according to a recent survey from Morning Consult of employed US adults. Some 42% of those who use AI at work said that AI has a positive impact on the workplace, and 30% said that it has a negative one. 
  • Meat-processing facilities adopt AI tools. While automation has long been a feature in the meat-packing industry , from vaccinating chicks to prepping shipments, advances in AI have allowed processing plants to automate tasks previously reserved for human workers, like precision butchering. 

Focus on how companies are getting AI adoption right

This week, we released our new research guide: “ AI in the workplace: How companies and workers are getting it right .” In it, you’ll find examples of custom tools and workflows, frameworks for mitigating bias in AI systems, and case studies from enterprises such as Microsoft and Cisco to startups like Humane and BenchSci. 

While it’s early—even leading tech companies are in the early stages of generative AI adoption—we found several emerging best practices. One of six practices we recommend others adopt: Focus on a specific problem. Here’s an excerpted case study showing how Accenture is solving a specific business problem with substantive input from its employees. 

Over the past year, the professional-services company developed and introduced Proposal Builder, a tool for writers on staff —known as the “pursuit” team—to create sales proposals, using a custom version of ChatGPT 3.5 that is managed by Accenture’s CIO. 

Managing director Erin Hubbard explains the impetus for the bot: “Finding the right, relevant content is challenging in a company of our size,” says Hubbard. She notes that it can be frustrating for writers to look through all available publicly disclosable information, methodology details, industry and region materials, and other background in preparing proposals in a short time frame. “How do I, the average employee, asked to answer 10 RFP questions, naturally know where to go to find each piece of information? The answer is, they don’t.”

The solution is to make up-to-date information searchable in a single place, with source information viewable. This is how the company developed the “minimum viable product” (MVP):

  • Program design and testing

In addition to the involvement of members of an internal steering committee, a group of writers on the pursuit team helped validate the need for proposal preparation support. Starting during the beta test, writers also flagged software bugs and shared features they wanted, including more options for charts and graphs and multi-language support for their global team.  

Soliciting their early input seems to have improved writers’ trust in the tool, managers at Accenture told us. Prior to testing Proposal Builder, Sarah Szuminski , the firm’s North America lead for pursuit writing, hadn’t used generative AI in her work. Today, Szuminski describes Proposal Builder as “a smarter, faster search for us.”

  • Rollout and training  

Hubbard says the process of introducing Proposal Builder to 1,500 people on Accenture’s pursuit team has been more user-centered than it might have been in years past. Proposal Builder training has taken many forms: small group sessions, face-to-face and virtual demos, Q&As, FAQs, recorded videos, one-on-one coaching, and twice weekly live office hours. Polls and contests are included throughout the training process to make the tool more approachable. 

Szuminski says that the tool has been helpful for the different stages of preparing proposals: during strategy conversations and outlining to start, while pulling together content in the middle, and for finetuning close to submission. She is using it weekly. As she says:

“A lot of times with generative AI, the discussion is: Is our work in jeopardy? Is the work that we're doing being threatened? I really see if we can eliminate the lower value, time-wasting work, it allows writers like myself to be more valuable in the way we're contributing our time [with] higher-value things like strategic messaging. Are we being creative? How can we correspond with the graphics team and all of that to make it a higher-level deliverable?”

With time saved, Hubbard says she would like to see employees do two things: put time into differentiating proposals to make them better than their competitors’ and recharge.

  • Iteration  

Accenture continues to evaluate the tool by measuring time spent on tasks and monitoring user feedback. The software is now part of new employee training, and all writers are encouraged to rate content recommended by the bot and replace information that doesn’t meet their standards. This aligns with one of the factors we identified in Charter’s AI and worker inclusion playbook for the likelihood of new technology being embraced by workers: They have the ability to control the technology, and to use their discretion in overruling it as needed.

What Else You Need to Know

The labor market is cooling, giving employers more of an upper hand. The US added 175,000 jobs in April, fewer than forecasted and the lowest number in six months, according to new Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data . Meanwhile, there were just 8.5 million unfilled job openings at the end of March, while 3.3 million workers voluntarily left their jobs—both figures were at their lowest levels in three years. 

  • Economists predict that the cooling labor market may shift the balance of power between employers and workers more towards bosses, reversing recent trends that gave workers more bargaining power.
  • According to data from the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, the number of job switchers , or workers who transition from one job to another without a gap in the middle, has also fallen—an indication that highly-skilled workers could be less optimistic about job prospects (or that firms are spending less on recruiting). The number of business services jobs fell by 4,000, according to Friday’s BLS report . 
  • Compensation for civilian workers rose 4.4% in the past year. Adjusted for inflation, wages are up 0.8% from a year ago. One survey from Mercer found that companies plan to limit increases to compensation budgets to 3.6% this year from last, down from November projections of 3.8%. 

Future of Work Speed Round

  • Business travel rebounds. Corporate bookings for many airlines and hotels have returned to pre-pandemic levels . Delta, United, Alaska Air, and Southwest Airlines all recorded double-digit-percentage increases in revenue from corporate accounts in the first quarter, and Hilton’s corporate bookings have risen above 2019 levels. 
  • Companies led by younger CEOs emit less greenhouse gas. Researchers say that’s due to a combination of factors, including investments in abatement activities, production efficiency, and greener fuel choices. 
  • Job-market anxieties plague new graduates preparing to enter the workforce. Over three-fourths of college graduates reported feeling concerned about job security during the job search process, according to a recent survey from Monster, and half of respondents said that they expect not to find a job at the company they prefer. 
  • Most Americans underestimate the material benefits of unions. Stanford researchers found that, when asked to estimate the compensation premiums and workplace benefits associated with union membership, 92% of respondents underestimated the payoff of joining a union. In the past year, union workers in the private sector saw their wages rise 6.3%, compared to 4.1% for non-union workers. 
  • Almost two-thirds of employees at federal agencies work on a hybrid schedule, in spite of calls from government leaders to return to offices , according to a survey from Federal News Network. Some 30% reported that they work entirely remotely, and just 6% reported working fully in-person. 
  • Doordash launches a program to help drivers access benefits. In Pennsylvania, the food-delivery app is piloting a portable benefit-savings program that will allow eligible workers to open a benefit savings account. Each month, the company will contribute 4% of drivers’ pre-tip earnings to the accounts, which can be spent on benefits expenses like retirement savings, health insurance, and emergency savings. 
  • A new rule from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) adds protections for trans and non-binary workers. Four years after the Supreme Court ruled that workplace discrimination laws apply to LGBTQ workers, the EEOC updated its enforcement guidance to require that employers use employees’ preferred gender pronouns and allow them to use bathrooms that match their gender identity. The changes also include a prohibition on discriminating against employees for their reproductive health decisions, including receiving an abortion or using contraception. 

Here are some of the best tips and insights from the past week for managing yourself and your team:

  • To ask better questions, vary your style. For more strategic decision-making, balance five different types of questions. Investigative questions probe the knowns and unknowns around a project. Speculative questions are “what if” queries that spur creativity and problem-solving. Productive questions move projects along through planning and coordination. Interpretive questions, help team members tease out the implications of an idea. Subjective questions ask about team members’ concerns, outlooks, and emotional states. 
  • Share your priorities with a public project tracker. Manage your workload by creating a project tracker for all the responsibilities currently on your plate. Then sort them into current priorities and a waiting list for projects to tackle next. Share the tracker with colleagues and managers to help them understand your current workload. 
  • Schedule deep-focus time for the same time everyday. If you struggle to concentrate during scheduled time for focused work , consider scheduling your focused time for the same blocks everyday. Having a more consistent schedule may help you focus more easily. 

When your work bestie is your teammate. We’ve previously covered the positive effects of having a friend at work, but workplace friendship could also be contributing to the success of one unconventional work team: the NBA’s New York Knicks . 

  • Core players on the Knicks’ winning roster—Jalen Brunson, Donte DiVencenzo, and Josh Hart—are former college teammates and old friends. “People who are close, their communication happens faster,” Gallup’s Jon Clifton told The New York Times. “It’s almost like they develop their own languages. They have shortcuts to say complex things in just a few amount of words. But they’ve also built trust.”

Walking and wellness. Recent research suggests that treadmill desks may actually improve workers’ health. 

  • One study showed that they can increase daily walking distance by an average of two miles. Another suggested that regular use can improve energy, moods, and even productivity. 

A cool way to commute. While it’s become commonplace for workers to choose a more active way to commute, like running or biking, Google DeepMind researcher Pablo Samuel Castro has opted for cross-country skiing to get to the office during the winter. 

  • His typical journey from his Ottawa home to his office includes 40 minutes of skiing, in temperatures as low as minus four degrees fahrenheit, then a train ride to Montreal.

AI Assistant will be available in countries where Acrobat is currently available. Adobe products and services, including ones with AI Assistant for Acrobat, are not available in Belarus, China, Crimea, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria, the Crimea Region of Ukraine, and the so-called breakaway Luhansk People’s Republic and Donetsk People’s Republic located in Ukraine. 

Currently, AI Assistant in Acrobat supports PDFs in English with plans to add additional languages in future releases. AI Assistant may inadvertently provide non-English responses, but these go beyond the intended purpose of the AI Assistant capability and should not be relied upon at this time. 

At this time, this feature works for PDFs that meet certain criteria. It doesn’t yet support the following types of files:

  • Files exceeding 25MB in size
  • Files that contain more than 120 pages
  • Files with permissions that are configured in a way that prevents processing, such as being password-protected or having the “do not copy” permission enabled 
  • Files that are scanned PDF documents
  • Files in a non-English language

Yes, a separate add-on plan for full access is available to new and existing Acrobat Individual customers. Acrobat Individual customers do not need to have an existing Acrobat Pro or Acrobat Standard plan to purchase. See the plans page for additional details.  

For Teams customers, generative AI features in Acrobat are available as a public beta. A private beta is available for paid Enterprise VIP customers. Customers also can choose to share their document and its associated data associated with Adobe while providing more detailed feedback. 

In the case of inappropriate content being generated, customers should press the flag icon to report it. Their document and the associated data will be escalated to the Adobe Trust & Safety team and other internal channels to investigate and address.

The new AI Assistant features were developed and deployed after undergoing review by the Adobe AI Ethics Review Board and have been designed to reflect Adobe’s AI Ethics principles of accountability, responsibility, and transparency.

Adobe and its service providers do not use Adobe customer content to train the large language models (ours or a third party’s) that deliver Acrobat’s generative AI capabilities. Learn more about how Adobe protects your documents and content using responsible practices .

The choice for where to develop was important for IWill Therapy and IWill CARE , a leading online mental health care provider in India, when they started using Azure AI Studio to build a solution to reach more clients. To enable developers to make an informed decision about which model to use, Azure AI Studio offers tools such as model benchmarking. With model benchmarking, developers can quickly compare models by task using open-source datasets and industry-standard metrics, such as accuracy and fluency. Prompt flow in Azure AI Studio is a powerful feature that streamlines the development cycle of generative AI solutions. Developers can develop, test, evaluate, debug, and manage large language model (LLM) flows. You can now monitor their performance, including quality and operational metrics, in real-time, and optimize your flows as needed. Prompt flow is designed to be effortless, with a visual graph for easy orchestration, and integrations with open-source frameworks like LangChain and Semantic Kernel. Man or bear? Hypothetical question sparks conversation about women's safety

If you were alone in the woods, would you rather encounter a bear or a man? Answers to that hypothetical question have sparked a debate about why the vast majority say they would feel more comfortable choosing a bear.

The topic has been hotly discussed for weeks as men and women chimed in with their thoughts all over social media.

Screenshot HQ , a TikTok account, started the conversation, asking a group of women whether they would rather run into a man they didn't know or a bear in the forest. Out of the seven women interviewed for the piece, only one picked a man.

"Bear. Man is scary," one of the women responds.

A number of women echoed the responses given in the original video, writing in the comments that they, too, would pick a bear over a man. The hypothetical has people split, with some expressing their sadness over the state of the world and others cracking jokes. Some men were flabbergasted.

Here's what we know.

A bear is the safer choice, no doubt about it, many say

There were a lot of responses, more than 65,000, under the original post. Many wrote that they understood why the women would choose a bear.

"No one’s gonna ask me if I led the bear on or give me a pamphlet on bear attack prevention tips," @celestiallystunning wrote.

@Brennduhh wrote: "When I die leave my body in the woods, the wolves will be gentler than any man."

"I know a bear's intentions," another woman wrote. "I don't know a man's intentions. no matter how nice they are."

Other TikTok users took it one step further, posing the hypothetical question to loved ones. Meredith Steele, who goes by @babiesofsteele , asked her husband last week whether he would rather have their daughter encounter a bear or a man in the woods. Her husband said he "didn't like either option" but said he was leaning toward the bear.

"Maybe it's a friendly bear," he says.

Diana, another TikTok user , asked her sister-in-law what she would choose and was left speechless.

"I asked her the question, you know, just for giggles. She was like, 'You know, I would rather it be a bear because if the bear attacks me, and I make it out of the woods, everybody’s gonna believe me and have sympathy for me," she said. "But if a man attacks me and I make it out, I’m gonna spend my whole life trying to get people to believe me and have sympathy for me.'"

Bear vs. man debate stirs the pot, woman and some men at odds

The hypothetical has caused some tension, with some women arguing that men will never truly understand what it's like to be a woman or the inherent dangers at play.

Social media users answered this question for themselves, producing memes, spoken word poetry and skits in the days and weeks since.

Gen Z is embracing artificial intelligence.

Compared to other generations, Zoomers are more open to brands using AI influencers rather than humans, a new study showed.

Only 35% of Gen Z consumers considered authenticity in influencers to be a top trait they care about, according to Sprout Social’s 2024 Influencer Marketing Report .

Meanwhile, about half of Millennials, Gen X and Baby Boomers said they place a high value on authenticity.

Two thousand participants across the US and UK who have at least one social media account and follow at least five brands on social media were surveyed, including 300 social media influencers.

When asked on how they feel about companies and brands using AI influencers instead of humans, Gen Z was 46% more likely to be interested.

This could be because Gen Z cares more about popularity with 47% saying they care about an influencer’s follower count.

Overall, 37% of respondents said AI influencers would make them more interested while another 37% said it would make the brand untrustworthy. The rest of the respondents were “indifferent.”

Social media influencers were more concerned, with 49% saying they were worried AI influencers would take their jobs.
