4 Incredible SEO Case Study Examples

1/ how monday.com wrote 1,000 seo articles in 12 months.

Monday SEO strategy

The project management software, monday.com, is infamous for their intrusive, yet intriguing advertising campaigns.

But, did you know they’re also HOT in the SEO game, too?

Back in 2020, they were new kids on the block. They had an SEO manager but hadn’t built any kind of strategic SEO plan. But that all changed in Q4 2020.

Rotem Shay, monday’s Head of Acquisition of 8 years, was looking to diversify. And in true monday.com style their attitude was to go big, or go home.

‍ “The head of acquisitions mindset was to just go big or go home. And that's really what you saw.”—Zoe Averbuch, Senior SEO Manager, on the How the F*ck SEO Podcast

In the 12 months that followed, monday.com:

  • Produced 1,000 articles
  • Scaled up to over 1 million monthly visitors

In the How the F*ck SEO community, I was lucky enough to interview multiple people involved in the scaleup.

In part one, we learned the lessons of scale. Brad Smith, from the content production company Codeless, taught the community the critical components of an content operation that can produce 100+ articles in a month.

In part two, monday.com insiders, Eliana Atia and Zoe Averbuch, shared their perspective. We learned how their 8 years of PPC helped prioritization of keywords, and we found out what mistakes, improvements, and best practices they learned on their journey.

“If all this relied on us just being brilliant, that would be bad. I’d probably still be broke.”-Brad Smith on the How the F*ck SEO Podcast

Key Takeaways:

  • ⚡ Moving forward: What were their biggest learnings and how are they continuously maintaining their enormous content library?
  • ⚡ Documentation: What foundational guides are fundamental to scaling content creation? And the ones you must not miss.
  • ⚡ Keywords: How to choose those that rank in a short space of time. So you see results now, not in 12 months.
  • ⚡ Writer acquisition: How to find enough great writers for 125 articles per month. And filter out the rubbish ones.
  • ⚡ Quality: How to write good enough quality for Monday, even on technical topics.
  • ⚡ Return on investment: Was the experiment worth it? How has Monday's SEO strategy iterated from their learnings?
  • ⚡ Why prioritization is everything in SEO . And why this means it's important to ship new content before it's fully edited.

  • monday.com’s traffic scale up strategy [part 2]

2/ How Typeform Built SEO into a $3M Annual Lifetime Revenue Channel

Typeform SEO

Typeform felt like they came out of nowhere. SurveyMonkey dominated the space, but Typeform’s slick and intuitive UI put them on the map.

Jake Stainer, Typeform’s Head of Growth throughout their scaleup, was new to SEO when he joined, but built out one of the most profitable SaaS SEO strategies I’ve seen.

Typeform’s trick?

Embedding their product in their content strategy. I shared this in the How the F*ck newsletter in April 2023 which summarizes this part of their SEO strategy well:

top seo tips

“I guess the trick is how can you relate your SEO to your product as closely as possible and not start creating like just educational content"—Jake Stainer, Co-Founder of Skale, Ex-Typeform Head of Growth on the How the F*ck SEO Podcast

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg of what we learn in this case study. From growth modelling to rank-boosting experiments, Typeform gave us a masterclass in SEO strategy.

  • ⚡ How Typeform selected and prioritized keywords to drive the most revenue growth (an example of product-led SEO in action)
  • ⚡ How Typeform built out their template library, ranking for 1,000s of bottom-of-funnel keywords.
  • ⚡ Typeforms unique backlink building technique that scaled them to 2.3M backlinks (and 93 domain rating)
  • ⚡ How to build an SEO growth model that makes sure your strategy prioritizes revenue (with template)

Read the Case Study here.

3/ How UserPilot Used Programmatic SEO to Scale to 100,000 Monthly Traffic in 10 Months

Emilia Korczyńska, UserPilot’s whip-smart Head of Marketing, built up UserPilot content operation to output 40 blog posts a month.

But the potential output capability was, at one point, 29 long-form blog posts per hour.

You may be thinking, huh?! 🤨

But, yeah, that’s right. That’s the power of systems-based thinking and programmatic content compiling.

“Programmatic SEO is essentially building content at scale from templates. Typically it’s content that follows certain patterns, for example, a formulaic keyword with an interchangeable variable.”—Emilia Korczyńska on the How the F*ck SEO Podcast

In the case study, we learn how Emilia extracted product pain points and turned them into a customer-focused keyword strategy.

They tackled the bottom-of-funnel keyword patterns in priority:

  • Use case (ie. Customer segment + pain point)
  • Industry (ie. X + industry)
  • Role (ie. X + job titles)
  • Business Type (ie. X + for business type)
  • Solution (ie. tool, software, platform, solution)
  • Competitors (ie. X vs Y or X alternatives)

They leveraged a system of database of tools → templates → automation → human editing to write these keyword patterns rapidly.

Here’s an example of some content created:

pattern seo

  • ⚡ How to build systems that overcome your reliance on any one individual, so your content production never slows.
  • ⚡ How to leverage keyword patterns across content types to exponentially scale production.
  • ⚡ The templates and databases required to do programmatic SEO yourself (Spoiler: It's not that hard, even I have done it using Webflow + Sheets alone)

4/ How Webflow Uses Programmatic SEO to Generate 100,000 Monthly Search Visitors—and Drive Customer Retention

webflow seo case study

I recently documented a clever strategy by the team at Webflow.

They’ve turned their user-generated template library into an internal search engine.

If you search for:

  • Text animation’s Webflow
  • Forms Webflow
  • Scroller examples Webflow
  • Essential ANY component you might want to see/steal examples from

Then they likely have a page for it, filled with examples and copiable components.

The best thing?

As a Webflow user, these genuinely really help get more value from the product. So by tapping into what their users are searching Google for, they’re aiding customer activation and retention.

How We Make Our SEO Case Studies

Most case studies really suck. Why? The incentives are all wrong. They're made by someone trying to sell to you. And, most people can't help but talk all about themselves, bending the truth along the way. When we make case studies—we focus on the actionable takeaways. Our goal is to educate and inspire, because that's what's valuable. If you're looking to get better at keyword research, SEO strategy, or the art of scaling your traffic, then our case studies are worth a read. Read more about how we make them here: SEO case study template .

SEO Case Study Best Practices

Christina Lyon

August 7, 2023

Take inspiration from these successful SEO case studies to rise through the ranks.

Here, you’ll find:

  • What exactly an SEO case study entails
  • A handpicked roster of stellar case studies to inspire
  • Unique SEO tactics that led to big results
  • How case studies can benefit your biz

Constant keyword research, consistent   content writing , user-friendly web design, backlinking … so much goes into a solid search engine optimization (SEO) strategy.

What’s more, you might invest a ton of efforts into all these tactics but still struggle to get anywhere near the top  of search results.

Two pieces of good news: You’re not alone, and there are ways to get your rankings where they ought to be.

Reading over a good SEO case study can help inspire new strategies and show you what’s possible with the right plan in place.

To give you a head start, we’ll cover dynamic SEO success stories from HawkSEM as well as other agencies. We’ll share the best tactics, common challenges to overcome, and results to support your marketing efforts.

Get ready to ramp up your SEO.  First, let’s get back to basics.

What is an SEO case study?

An SEO case study highlights how a consultant or agency partnered with a specific client to drive significant, notable SEO results .

When brands want to beef up their SEO strategy, they often partner with an SEO agency or professional to help them achieve desired outcomes.

A case study helps paint a clear picture of how a brand went from point A to B on the search engine results page, or SERP   — with “B” being results like skyrocketed organic traffic , greater conversion rates , and high keyword rankings.

But SEO isn’t the same for every brand. Sure, there are overarching categories like content and keywords. But different niches, budgets, and goals distinguish SEO tactics and results across the board.

Reviewing an SEO case study helps you identify success markers and the strategies used to achieve that success.

With these insights, you can glean tips and tactics to apply to your brand’s SEO strategy.

14 SEO case studies for top-ranking inspiration

Thousands of monthly traffic hits, 2X conversion boosts, and pumped-up keyword rankings are just a few of the incredible results our clients have experienced with the right SEO services.

But you’ll notice each brand comes with a unique challenge that informs the right SEO strategy for them.

Moneta Group catches local leads with triple-boosted keyword portfolio

Moneta Group has over two decades of experience in the wealth management space. Still, competition increased over time, so we needed to study those competitors and their keywords closely.

While Moneta wanted to improve national keyword rankings overall, their top priority was to stand out in four local markets.  If you’re also looking to boost visibility in your area, then check out the strategies used in this local SEO case study .

Strategies:

  • Local SEO – We built geo-specific web content to capture potential wealth management clients in the four areas Moneta Group was interested in. On top of that, our beefed-up citation profiles for each office helped solidify independent local ranking signals.
  • Competitive analysis to fill keyword gaps – Moneta still wanted nationwide keyword rankings, so we had to review their competitors to see what was missing. We identified keywords with the lowest competitive metrics and organized them into a brimming content calendar to rank for each one.
  • Content optimization – Moneta had a ton of great content on its website, but it needed a revamp for Google and new audiences. We conducted ongoing, on-page optimization , including backlinking and keyword development.

Results:

  • 326% increase in net organic keyword portfolio
  • 164% increase in organic keywords in positions 1-3
  • Over 23% increase in Google Analytics goal completions

Escape the Room makes a real impression — 4 million, to be exact

With locations across 18 cities and 10 years of industry expertise, Escape the Room is a leader in the live game and entertainment industry. With all those locations to manage, their marketing initiatives fell behind.

They had a substantial base but needed strategic input to maintain a strong digital footprint.

Strategies:

  • Metadata revamp – Escape the Room had 16 different locations, and not every website contained optimized metadata. But crawlers dive into these details, so they deserve some attention. That’s why we added new SEO elements like title tags and meta descriptions to keep Google happy.
  • Speedy load time – Slow site speed can send your audience packing after just a few seconds. We dove into each website’s assets to remove anything clunky and decrease load time. This also improved mobile responsiveness.
  • Quality content creation – From team-building ideas for company staff to escape room tips and tricks, there was no shortage of relevant content to create for Escape the Room. We paired new pieces of content with fresh, snazzy website designs to attract information-seeking readers, planting the seeds for conversion later on.
  • Achieved an account-wide peak of 62% impression share
  • Hit a record number 4 million monthly impressions
  • Reached an all-time-high account-wide ad position of 1.1 for the brand

  • Jumped from 4 to 468 terms in SERP rankings

Keyword revamps, backlink strategies, and content creation are not the simplest tasks to complete on a marketer’s endless to-do list. Luckily, an SEO agency can check all those boxes for you.

Honda doubles traffic and reaches 30 million people

Honda Motor Co. wanted to promote their new Civic hatchback and Accord models to South American audiences. The problem? They were competing for keywords with their dealership partners.

On top of that, Honda just wasn’t reaching their target demographic with their existing content.

  • New and improved keyword targets – We needed to get Honda and its dealers on the same page. So, we looked at the digital marketing goals for all parties and created new keyword targets for each to follow.
  • Audience research – Honda had a target demographic, but SEO campaigns just weren’t reaching them. We sat down to discuss the brand’s unique selling points and linked them to their customers’ needs via tailored SEO content and keyword research .
  • 30% decrease in CPC (cost per conversion)
  • 40% increase in dealer inquiries
  • 200% increase in traffic

Zephyr sees massive gains in lead volume and market share

When leading SaaS company Zephyr came to us, their digital marketing strategy was across the board and lacked cohesion. With campaigns and goals in place, they needed help reigning everything into a sharp message and aligned approach.

With so many team members and initiatives at play, everyone was hamster-wheeling and struggling to stay caught up.

This lapse in cohesion created a hodgepodge of mixed messaging, and, not surprisingly, they weren’t bringing in as many qualified leads as they desired.

  • Big picture strategy: The first thing we did was get everyone on board about how to organize each and every initiative to work together cohesively. With an aligned, collaborative vision, we created a more unified strategy for all digital marketing campaigns.
  • Landing page redesign and optimization: We tackled creative from the get go and redesigned a landing page that was working against Zephyr by not engaging its visitors. Plus, the lead form was long and convoluted. With an engaging, dynamic new landing page design and a more efficient lead form, Zephyr saw immediate results–we’re talking double the lead volume than the original landing page.
  • 100% increase in Zephyr’s lead volume with the new landing page
  • $250 decrease in CPA

Career Group Companies boosts job applications with keyword revamp

Imagine you’re an employer with a ton of job listings, and you aren’t receiving any applications. Career Group Companies , a staffing agency, faced this problem. The culprit? Less-than-stellar SEO was hiding their listings from prospective candidates.

We got to work with tried-and-true SEO tactics to improve the brand’s connection with their audience, drive more traffic, and improve application volume.

  • Keyword portfolio expansion – We needed to understand why people looking for certain jobs weren’t landing on Career Group Companies’ listings. The answer was a few adjustments to their keyword portfolio, including long-tail variations and keyword phrases that included specific job titles and industries.
  • Data-driven strategy – Our proprietary tech, ConversionIQ ™, helps us decrypt all the data to reveal the whole picture of your SEO and content marketing campaigns. We used our platform to gather sophisticated data across multiple channels and identify qualified and unqualified leads to inform a greater SEO strategy .
  • New content assets – Career Group Companies wanted to highlight diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts and channel company-wide goals in their content. Naturally, we created new content assets to accommodate these goals and optimized existing content as well.
  • 43% increase in job listing page views from organic traffic
  • 71% increase in entrances from organic searches directly to job listing pages
  • Significant growth in the candidate pipeline

Content, colors, and CTAs bring Happy Ears Hearing Center a nearly 4X traffic increase

Happy Ears Hearing Center is a Phoenix-based audiology office that offers specialized ear healthcare services to clients. The company had two SEO goals: one, to capture the local audience that would best benefit from their services. And two? Establish their brand as a national industry expert on hearing issues.

We tackled a wider net of keywords and user experience improvements to garner more conversions.

Strategies :

  • U ser experience enhancement – Don’t you hate clicking on a web page only to be met with a long, boring block of text? We spiced things up on Happy Ears’ website with colors, digestible headers, and engaging calls to action (CTAs). This led to more local conversions and appointments.
  • Expanded keyword targets – Happy Ears wants to be an online go-to for all things hearing. So, we had to research what its audience was plugging into Google and expand that across the whole country.
  • 245% increase in total organic keyword rankings

  • 44% increase in local conversions

Happy Ears had its audiology services on-point. With added focus on the online user experience, readers benefited from their knowledge and expertise.

More visuals and updated keywords help Dilo recover lost rankings

DILO is a gas-handling product and service provider with decades of experience, but even its longstanding SEO wasn’t immune to a website redesign in 2019.

We’ve seen it before: lost traffic and dropped keyword rankings from a new launch or migration. And in DILO’s case, those lost rankings were high-value keywords that it really needed to get back in order to re-establish its place in the industry.

  • On-page optimization – We always conduct a technical SEO audit after a redesign. This time, we fixed a few speed and navigation issues. Next step? Content optimization with updated target keywords and meta tags.
  • Visual content – The gas industry isn’t the easiest to grasp, even with an organized, comprehensive article. We introduced more infographics and charts into DILO’s content to improve organic traffic and the user experience .
  • 36% increase in organic clicks within 6 months
  • 24% increase in Google clicks for high-value keywords within 3 months
  • 46% increase in Google impressions within 3 months

Easly hits the SEO ground running with 70 new pieces of optimized content

Easly is a Canada-based platform that provides capital advances on SR&ED grants to innovative new brands.

The company was new to the digital marketing world and came to HawkSEM with a brand-new website. It was our job to get it off the SEO ground with relevant content and authority to appeal to their audiences.

  • New content to the max – We had to start from scratch, and 70 new pieces of content did the trick. Of course, we had to ensure the information was flawless and accurate to capture niche audiences for this brand. And we wrote for every potential customer in the funnel, from curious onlookers to conversion-ripe audiences.
  • Domain authority – Easly was still fresh to Google’s eyes. They didn’t have enough external or internal links to channel credibility and thought leadership. We focused on creating linkable content that naturally brought backlinks from other reputable industry players.
  • Technical tidbits – New websites always have a few snags. We enhanced site speed and adjusted some web elements to improve the mobile experience.
  • 2,500% increase in referring domains
  • 40+ featured snippet results on Google
  • 1,500% increase in the brand’s keyword portfolio

People love reassurance, especially before making a purchase. A content library brimming with industry knowledge and helpful tips delivers that assurance to both readers and search engine crawlers.

  • Internal linking – We improved site navigation and organic rankings by finding relevant placements for internal links across Wind River’s content.
  • Content research – Tech niches are abundant with potential content, but you really need to ensure audience relevance before you start writing. We conducted competitive analysis and keyword research to inform our content calendar.
  • Technical and on-page SEO – We covered our technical bases by cleaning up metadata and title tags. On top of that, we ensured logical formatting for web content with H1s and H2s, as well as updated all pieces of content with relevant keyword targets.
  • 20% decrease in ad spend
  • 294% increase in clickthrough rate (CTR)
  • 39% increase in users

Samanage reaps organic traffic with a poppin’ content calendar

Asset management and service-desk SaaS brand Samanage operates across 50 different countries. Despite their global presence, they still had trouble ranking in the SERPs .

A custom-coded WordPress template impeded them from making technical SEO changes to appeal to Google’s crawlers. Plus, their blog wasn’t aligned with a cohesive SEO strategy , so they enlisted marketing agency Tinuiti to help them get on track.

  • Robust content strategy – Tinuiti published over 65 pieces of content for Samanage across various types. They started with keyword-targeted blog posts and expanded to whitepapers, landing pages, and more evergreen content to improve web visibility.

Mommy’s Bliss builds trust with new audiences via link building

When you’re a mom-and-pop shop, marketing might be as easy as a Facebook ad or physical sign. But when you start expanding, things get more hectic.

Mommy’s Bliss sells high-quality baby products, and experienced immense growth that spurred an entire website redesign. Those two events can seriously throw your SEO strategy off-course.

Luckily, help from HawkSEM made all the difference, as showcased in this ecommerce SEO case study .

  • Backlinking for credibility – Mommy’s Bliss expanded its audience, so new visitors might not have been aware of the company’s strong values and credentials. That’s why we needed to launch a backlinking strategy to establish E-A-T (expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness). Think about it: parents need to feel 100% confident in a brand before purchasing a product for their kids.
  • Daily SEO management – HawkSEM offers all clients a dedicated manager to oversee progress, strategize improvements, and catch any snags before they develop into bigger problems. We handled all the SEO oversight so Mommy’s Bliss could focus on creating new products for its booming audience.
  • Over 65% increase in organic sessions year over year
  • 79% increase in total keyword rankings
  • Doubled goal completions

Forks Over Knives leverages search data to recover lost traffic during COVID

The pandemic kept people at home and away from Forks Over Knives’ website. The health lifestyle brand noticed a slump in organic search traffic , along with a decrease in search volume for their target keywords .

But the problem wasn’t their rankings. They still held top spots for their target keywords , people just weren’t typing them into Google anymore. Search intent had changed, and marketing agency Wpromote knew the keywords needed to change, too.

  • Trend research – Wpromote used Google Trends data to understand how people were shifting their search queries and which keywords were replacing the old ones.
  • Content strategy shift – When life gives you new keywords, you make new recipes (at least, that’s what Forks Over Knives did during the pandemic). Everyone was looking for recipes, so Wpromote used trend data to predict the most highly searched recipes to create content for.
  • 278,000 organic sessions for their “banana recipes” pages
  • 41% increase in total organic sessions month over month (MoM)
  • #1 trafficked all-channel landing page since publishing

People adapt with the times, and your SEO strategy should, too.

Even enterprise-level SaaS businesses like Vimeo need to stay sharp on their SEO . With over 260 million users uploading hundreds of thousands of videos on the daily, it’s not surprising that indexing and structure data issues arose.

Customers struggled to conduct basic SEO tasks to optimize their videos, like indexing APIs, adding structured data to their sites, submitting sitemaps, and beyond. Meaning? They weren’t getting as many eyes on their video content.

The solution? Vimeo got on board with Google’s SEO best practices to improve visibility and searchability for their active customers.

  • Allowing customers to index videos at scale – Vimeo streamlined the indexing process to allow embedded videos to show up on Google’s SERPs. By using iframe embeds and noindex in tandem, embedded Vimeo videos from customer websites’ could be indexed and thus, provide more visibility to their own web page without the mess of adding individual markups for each video.
  • Making Key Moments searchable – Ever searched for how to boil an egg and had to skip past the first three minutes to get to the instructions? Annoying, right? Fortunately, you won’t have this problem anymore because time-stamped segments of Vimeo’s video content now show up in Google Search. By adding Clip markup to all video pages and rolling out Seek markup (auto-generated Chapters that Google identifies as Key Moments), Vimeo customers can now attract more organic traffic to specific segments within each video.

When it comes to visibility and video content, Google and Vimeo go together like PB&J.

Nick Eubanks

I’ve got many compelling SEO case studies from the years I’ve spent learning everything I can about search engine algorithms. I hope these stories help spark ideas and develop strategies you can model in your own efforts.

By seeing what has worked for other businesses, you’ll gain invaluable insights on refining your approach and achieving your SEO KPIs . The case studies we’ll explore cover various industries, goals, and tactics — from revamping on-page content to building high-authority backlinks to recovering from Google penalties.

Discover eight concrete SEO success stories and get actionable tips you can implement today.

What Is an SEO Case Study?

An SEO case study is an in-depth analysis and strategic review of how a website improves its search engine rankings and organic traffic growth over time. SEO case studies explain the goals, technical approach, and results of specific optimization tactics.

The purpose of documenting SEO stories is multifaceted.

First, they provide a blueprint for success that others can model because they outline the step-by-step process of what worked to boost rankings and traffic.

Second, case studies build trust and credibility by showcasing real examples with data and metrics. This is particularly valuable for SEO and SEM agencies creating bottom-of-funnel content to show their potential ROI.

Lastly, case studies are a learning opportunity for all SEO practitioners to improve their own strategies. Analyzing the factors that led to positive ROI, search visibility, and conversions for others helps you identify smart tactics to test on your sites.

In terms of content, a complete SEO case study will cover:

  • Initial objectives
  • Ranking situation
  • Technical audit findings
  • Specific on-page and off-page activities
  • Time frames for implementation
  • Associated costs
  • Measurable results month-by-month and year-over-year

Tracking detailed analytics data is critical. The most compelling case studies also outline the estimated revenue and long-term ROI from the SEO initiatives.

Have you ever created case studies of your own work? They can help you persuade prospects and get more SEO clients .

I’m going to provide “mini” SEO case study examples to give you an idea of what’s possible.

Why Are SEO Case Studies Valuable?

Here’s why SEO case studies are worth reviewing.

  • They showcase proven strategies in action. You get to see what combination of tactics boosted rankings and organic traffic for actual sites.
  • You learn the step-by-step process of SEO initiatives that generated strong ROI. The case study format allows you to model what worked and avoid the efforts that don’t pay dividends.
  • Since case studies focus on the metrics and data, you get real analysis based on actual results — not guesses or estimates. You see what moved the needle.
  • By covering time frames in detail, you understand realistic SEO timelines — giving you a framework for smarter goal-setting.
  • Well-documented case studies outline the costs associated with SEO efforts , so you can optimize budget and resources.

In short, getting detailed SEO case study examples (particularly from sites in your industry) is like accessing an SEO expert’s blueprint for increasing organic search visibility.

SEO Case Study Examples to Check Out

Here are eight compelling examples that offer key lessons you can apply to your site.

1. Edelweiss Bakery

Edelweiss Bakery

Edelweiss Bakery is a small, local bakery in Florida that struggled with low online visibility despite having a loyal customer base. To boost their search rankings and web traffic, they partnered with the international SEO agency Why SEO Serious.

Semrush described how the agency optimized Edelweiss’ on-page elements, conducted technical audits, redesigned the homepage, expanded its site structure, built backlinks , and created an SEO-optimized blog.

Just four months after implementing these tactics, the bakery attracted 230 backlinks and grew its organic traffic by 214%.

2. Learning with Experts

Learning with Experts

The demand for online learning is high, and competition for top spots in the SERPs is fierce. Learning with Experts , an online learning community, partnered with UK-based agency Re:signal to boost their low organic visibility.

Re:signal conducted keyword research, site audits, and on-page optimization. They identified keyword gaps, optimized category pages, improved site structure, and created new blog posts. After five months, organic sessions rose 59%, and Learning with Experts grew their revenue by 94%.

3. CMA Exam Academy

CMA Exam Academy

Accountant Nathan Liao created a CMA exam prep course but struggled to scale traffic with paid ads and social media. He saw some organic success but lacked the bandwidth to optimize this site further on his own.

Nathan hired Digital Commerce Partners (DCP), who analyzed and fixed technical SEO issues, reoptimized existing blog posts for quick wins, developed a custom content strategy integrated with DCP’s writers for scalability, and provided monthly reporting.

After a year, CMA Exam Academy saw a 125% revenue jump, increased its pageviews by 121%, and attracted 147% more users. DCP’s multilayered SEO approach drove significant business growth for CEA.

4. The CBD Supplier

The CBD Supplier

UK-based CBD product marketplace The CBD Supplier struggled with low organic visibility in a competitive industry.

Web design agency Cude targeted long-tail keywords with high search volume and low difficulty. The agency also improved internal linking and built a plan to create topical content clusters.

This laser-focused SEO strategy grew search traffic by 557% in 12 months. It transformed The CBD Supplier into a mid-5-figure e-commerce business — which is particularly remarkable, given that it previously only generated £1,000 in revenue.

Avis

Avis Car Rental , partnered with digital marketing agency Big Leap in 2018. The rental car company has more than 1,700 locations, so Big Leap focused on local SEO optimization tailored to each specific branch.

The agency conducted extensive audits to optimize individual map listings and citations across search engines. It sought to improve the website’s location pages to rank for key city and state-specific terms.

Big Leap performed in-depth technical SEO audits to identify high-impact areas to target. Then it assembled a team of skilled writers to produce more than 300 original, on-brand pieces of content optimized around high-volume keywords and strategic internal linking. Maintaining quality control was a top priority.

The multi-channel local SEO strategy delivered tremendous ROI. Avis ranked on the first page for 213 additional target keywords, including valuable conversion-focused terms. This led to hundreds of thousands of new qualified leads, accelerating business growth.

6. Healthspan

Healthspan

Health supplement retailer Healthspan approached UK agency Re:signal seeking to improve rankings after a Google Penguin penalty tanked their search visibility.

Re:signal set goals to increase organic revenue, recover from the algorithm hit, and reduce Healthspan’s reliance on paid search. They worked through the penalty problem using link analysis and optimized for key product terms in the supplement industry.

The results? Organic revenue rose 144% in a year, enabling Healthspan to cut back on paid search spend. Re:signal also secured high-quality media coverage that showcased Healthspan’s brand on a larger stage.

7. Regional Dentist

Regional Dentist

A large regional dental provider hired the agency Momentic to improve local search visibility across 14 cities.

Momentic audited the competitive landscape and optimized location and service pages through content updates.

Just one month after implementing recommendations, the dental provider increased organic traffic so much that they could turn off paid search. Appointments skyrocketed alongside a 140% increase in organic traffic year-over-year.

8. DesktopReady

DesktopReady

Desktop-as-a-service company DesktopReady hired agency HawkSEM after a website relaunch tanked their traffic. HawkSEM audited technical SEO issues, optimized old content, created new targeted content, and enhanced DesktopReady’s social media profiles.

This multifaceted strategy increased users by 409%, grew backlinks from 822 to 1,340, and catapulted DesktopReady to solid rankings for 468 more keywords . DesktopReady recovered from the traffic plunge and reclaimed its position as an industry leader.

How Wix generated value for their users by integrating stats and functionality via Google APIs directly into the Wix UI

Published on February 5, 2024

Wix provides a platform to over 250 million users worldwide looking to create a professional website and build their online presence. Wix wanted to generate greater value for their users by integrating Google tools throughout the Wix SEO ecosystem (including Wix Studio ) to make the whole user journey from indexing to analytics reports easier and richer.

What was done

Over the course of 2022 and 2023, Wix collaborated with Google to define which Google stats and functionality would match the needs of Wix site owners, then built several reports in consultation with the Google team, using publicly available data from Google's APIs (for example, Search Console API and Site Verification API ). Wix chose these reports because they curate stats and functionality from Google's products and combine them with Wix information, in the places Wix users find most intuitive within the Wix UI.

To make these integrations as accessible as possible by the majority of its users, Wix decided to implement a series of tools targeting their user's different levels of expertise:

Sitemap submission with Search Console integration

Wix site inspection tool, wix analytics reports.

Using the Site Verification API and the Search Console API , Wix built functionality to automatically verify ownership of a site and then submit that site's sitemap to Search Console right from the Wix dashboard. Verifying ownership of the domain is a fundamental step with any CMS integration.

Wix connecting a site to Search Console

Using Google's URL Inspection API , Wix helped users track their site's indexing issues and inspect their pages directly from the Wix Dashboard by sending site pages to Google's API. This integration checks the indexing status of a particular page, including any indexing errors, and performs aggregation, among other tasks. In this way, Wix users can get an overview of their site's health and get the information they need to fix whatever is needed to make sure their content can be indexed by Google.

Wix's Site Inspection tool

Leveraging the reporting functionality of the Search Console API , Wix built 4 new reports to help their users get detailed insights on how visitors interact with their site, using integrated SEO reports. Wix users can track clicks, impressions, changes in traffic and main queries, right from the Wix Dashboard.

Wix analytics report that shows Google Search data

Integrating Google tools into the Wix ecosystem has proven to be a game-changer for their users.

So far, over 2 million Wix sites connected their Search Console account and submitted a sitemap to Google through the new integration. They also regularly used the new features, such as Site Inspection and Analytics Reports to troubleshoot indexing errors, fix them and get insights on resulting changes in performance. For those users, Wix saw an average traffic increase of 15% over the course of one year after the user connected to their Search Console account via Wix (July 2022 – July 2023), compared to their traffic before connecting. Additionally, these users experienced a 15% increase in GPV (Gross Product Value, which is the amount of money earned by a Wix user from their website in a specific period) in comparison to similar users who did not connect their site to Search Console and therefore had no access to the new features or to direct information about their site's performance on search.

Increase in average traffic for Wix sites using the new features

Increase in monthly GPV for ecommerce Wix sites that used the new features

Ecommerce Wix sites which used the new features over the course of a year (July 2022 – July 2023) saw a higher monthly GPV increase of 24%. Wix noticed that these users are stepping forward into their SEO journey by using other tools (provided by Google and Wix) to help inform and refine their strategy.

The Wix Site Inspection tool also made a positive impact. Wix reported an increase in average traffic of 5% for sites that used the tool for the first time over the course of a year (July 2022 – July 2023), along with a 16% increase in GPV on average. These results suggest that a simplified site monitoring process for users can help them more effectively track and fix issues that are affecting their search engine rankings.

Nati Elimelech, Wix's Head of SEO, said: "Integrating Google's APIs into Wix has been a game-changer for our users. It's more than just about analytics; it's about simplifying the entire web creation and optimization process. Seeing our users, regardless of their expertise level, achieve online success, truly reflects the power of these integrations. It's not just a technical upgrade; it's about making advanced SEO tools accessible and useful for everyone."

discount poster

Are you ready to discover how search engine optimization (SEO) helped a sustainable fashion brand increase its visibility and drive more sales? In today’s world, sustainability is more important than ever, and sustainable fashion is a growing concern for consumers worldwide. But even with a strong commitment to eco-friendliness, it can be tough for a sustainable fashion brand to stand out in a crowded digital marketplace. That’s where the power of SEO comes in. By optimizing a brand’s website and content, SEO can help increase its visibility, drive more traffic, and ultimately boost sales. In this case study , we’ll dive into the challenges faced by one of our clients, an up-and-coming sustainable fashion brand, and the creative SEO strategies we implemented to overcome them.

You’ll discover how a carefully crafted SEO plan helped this brand get noticed by its target audience, generate more leads, and build a loyal following of eco-conscious shoppers. If you’re a sustainable fashion brand looking to improve your online presence and reach more customers, this case study is a must-read!

The Challenges

Every client comes to us with a unique set of SEO challenges they need our help solving, and this was certainly the case here. However, some of the biggest of these challenges are common to many e-commerce brands, and if you operate in the online retail space, some of the problems that this client came to us looking to solve may be quite familiar to you.

One of the biggest challenges faced by the sustainable fashion brand in this case study was increasing its visibility on search engine results pages (SERPs).

In addition to SERPs visibility, the brand faced technical SEO issues that were holding back its

exams, Digital Marketing Agency Coaching

You’ll discover how a carefully crafted SEO plan helped this brand get noticed by its target audience, generate more leads, and build a loyal following of eco-conscious shoppers. If you’re a sustainable fashion brand looking to improve your online presence and reach more customers, this case study is a must-read! This required targeting viable keywords that could drive traffic to the website and increase its rankings on search engines like Google. However, with so much competition in the sustainable fashion industry, finding the right keywords was going to be no easy feat.

So just what did we do for this sustainable fashion brand to significantly increase their traffic, their SERPs positions, and their brand reputation? Let’s start breaking it down:

image5-3

Extensive Keyword Research

Keyword research is a critical component of any successful SEO strategy, and for this sustainable fashion brand, it was no different. To target viable keywords that could drive traffic and increase the brand’s visibility on SERPs, a comprehensive keyword research process was undertaken. Here is a detailed overview of the steps taken:

Brainstorming: The first step was to sit down with the client and brainstorm a list of potential keywords that were relevant to the brand and its products. This involved analyzing those products, the target audience, and industry trends to identify these crucial words.

Competitor analysis: The next step was to analyze the brand’s competitors to identify the keywords they were targeting. This involved examining their websites, product descriptions, and content to understand how they were positioning themselves on search engines.

Keyword tools : Once the initial list of potential keywords was generated, keyword research tools such as Google Keyword Planner, Ahrefs, and SEMrush were used to refine the list and identify additional keyword opportunities. These tools provided insights into the search volume, competition, and relevance of each keyword.

Long-tail keywords : In addition to targeting broad keywords, long-tail keywords were also identified to capture more specific search queries. These included phrases such as “sustainable jeans for women” or “organic cotton t-shirts.” Long-tail keywords are highly specific keyword phrases that typically consist of three or more words. They are more specific and targeted than broader keywords and tend to have lower search volumes.  However, they are also easier to rank for, and you can use them to attract more qualified traffic to a website. In addition, targeting long-tail keywords can help establish a brand as an authority in a specific niche or area of expertise, which can ultimately lead to increased visibility and sales over time.

Any business, not just those in the fashion niche, can benefit from this lesser used, but highly effective, approach to keyword targeting. If you take the time to discover the right long tail keywords applicable to your business, then you’ll almost certainly spend less time and money (and experience a lot less stress) getting the results you want than you would trying to compete with larger and better established businesses for the highest volume, shorter keywords that might seem the more obvious choice at first.

Targeted Technical SEO

For an e-commerce site, especially one with a large range of products on offer, as was the case for our client, it’s hard to overstate the importance of getting your technical SEO right. Google looks hard at the technical SEO aspects of any website, but it gives even more scrutiny to e-commerce websites as money is actually being spent directly on them. In fact, it even has a specific algorithm that targets them.

This algorithm – known in SEO circles as Your Money Your Life or YMYL for short – places a strong emphasis on the quality and relevance of content related to financial transactions and personal information. And for e-commerce sites, this means providing users with clear and trustworthy information about products, services, pricing, and more. To meet the standards of the YMYL algorithm, e-commerce sites must establish themselves as reliable sources of expert content, such as product reviews and recommendations, to establish authority and build trust with their users. Additionally, they must prioritize the security of users’ personal and financial data by implementing secure payment systems and encryption protocols.

But it’s not just about meeting the algorithm’s standards; it’s about building trust with your customers. By providing reliable information and prioritizing user security, e-commerce businesses can establish themselves as reputable sources and build lasting relationships with their customers. And in the competitive world of e-commerce, building trust can mean the difference between a loyal customer base and a website that struggles to gain traction.

In addition to all of this, consumers are looking for a speedy, efficient shopping process. In real life shoppers hate waiting in long lines to pay, and a sluggish, hard to navigate online checkout is the digital equivalent of this frustrating experience. And as it’s far easier to abandon a digital shopping cart than a physical one and move onto the next store on their list, lots of people will.

Link Building

Image Issues

For this client, one of the first areas we addressed was the site’s load time, which was improved by optimizing the size and compression of images.

Images are an essential part of an e-commerce website, but they can also slow down the site’s load time, which negatively impacts the user experience and SEO. By compressing and resizing images, the site was able to load faster, leading to improved user engagement and increased search engine rankings. While we were working with the site’s product images, we also ensured that they all had keyword specific alt-tags. Good alt tags for product images are important for several reasons

First, alt tags help search engines understand what an image is about, which can improve its visibility in search engine results pages (SERPs). By providing accurate and descriptive alt tags, you can increase the likelihood that your product images will appear in relevant image searches. Second, alt tags also improve accessibility for users with visual impairments who rely on screen readers to navigate websites. Screen readers use alt tags to describe images to users, allowing them to understand the content of a page even if they are unable to view the images themselves.

Finally, good alt tags can improve the user experience by providing additional context and information about a product. Alt tags can include details such as the product’s name, color, size, and other important features, which can help users make more informed purchasing decisions.

Why should I outsource my PPC service?

Perfecting Product Descriptions

Next, product descriptions were updated to include relevant keywords, while also avoiding duplicate content issues common in e-commerce. Duplicate content can harm SEO by confusing search engines and negatively impacting the user experience.

Stress Free Service

The checkout process was also streamlined to provide a seamless experience for users. This involved simplifying the checkout process to require fewer steps to make a purchase. Far too many online businesses ask for way more information than they need at checkout, often in an attempt to gain more marketing data for future use.

While this is technically a sound idea, the fact is that research – and our own experience working with multiple e-commerce clients – has shown that cart abandonment rates go up   significantly when more than the information required to complete a purchase is requested.  For this client we helped them streamline their checkout process to require minimal information at the time of purchase, but to take the email address that consumers expect they need to provide when shopping online and use that to market to customers later. By ensuring that the email was requested early in the process, the client was also able to establish (with our help) a retargeting campaign to recover some of those abandoned carts.

Creative Content Marketing

Something else that is hard to overstate the importance of for any e-commerce business, including our fashion client, is the importance of effective, targeted content marketing.  In this case, we helped the sustainable fashion brand in this case study by implementing a comprehensive content marketing strategy to establish the brand as an authority in the eco-friendly fashion industry and attract a wider audience.

To achieve this, we launched a blog on the brand’s website, featuring articles on sustainable fashion, ethical manufacturing, and eco-friendly materials. This allowed us to showcase the brand’s expertise and establish its authority in the industry. We also leveraged social media platforms to promote the brand’s blog content and engage with its audience, helping to increase the brand’s reach and build recognition. In addition, we partnered with influencers in the eco-friendly fashion industry to promote the brand’s products and values, further increasing its credibility and reach.

To nurture leads and build relationships with potential customers, we launched an email marketing campaign to promote the brand’s blog content, products, and special offers to its audience. We utilized both emails gathered from the website’s checkout to encourage repeat purchases and those we obtained from social channels via a variety of platform exclusive special offers.  Finally, we produced brand new video content to showcase both the brand’s unique and exciting products and their manufacturing processes, providing a more engaging and immersive experience for users and helping to establish the brand as a trusted and transparent source for eco-friendly fashion.

Overall, our content marketing strategy helped this sustainable fashion brand establish itself as a leading authority in the eco-friendly fashion industry, attract a wider audience, and build a loyal customer base.

SEO importance for Web content

The Results

What matters most, at the end of the day, is that any SEO project gets results, whether it’s for an e-commerce business like our client or any other.  The results of our SEO and content marketing campaign for the sustainable fashion brand in this case study are nothing short of impressive! Thanks to improved keyword targeting and on-page content optimization, the brand saw a whopping 48% increase in impressions on search engine results pages (SERPs), helping to improve brand visibility and reach. And that’s not all – the brand’s domain authority also shot up by 11 points, indicating that search engines were recognizing the brand as a trusted and authoritative source in the eco-friendly fashion industry.

But wait, there’s more! The brand also saw a significant increase in the number of backlinks to its website, indicating that other reputable websites were linking to the brand’s content and contributing to improved search engine rankings. And when it comes to sales, the results were truly impressive. The brand saw a 36% increase in online sales, thanks to the improved visibility and reach resulting from the SEO and content marketing strategy, as well as the streamlined checkout process and improved security measures.

But we didn’t stop there – we also delivered a significant decrease in cart abandonment, with a 34% decrease in the number of users abandoning their carts before completing their purchase. The improved checkout process, which was streamlined to provide a more seamless and user-friendly experience for customers, was a major contributor to this success. Overall, the results of our SEO and content marketing campaign were nothing short of amazing (and that’s according to the client), with significant increases in impressions, domain authority, backlinks, and sales, as well as a significant decrease in cart abandonment.

By focusing on technical SEO, content marketing, and user experience improvements, we were able to achieve impressive growth and establish the brand as a trusted and authoritative source in the eco-friendly fashion industry. seo company case study

Kenichi is a highly experienced SEO, entitled as an official Google Product Expert. He leads SEO initiatives as Search Advocate at the Faber Company in Tokyo. His personal SEO blog reigns as Japan’s top resource.

seo company case study

Based in Japan, Rio is an accomplished product manager specializing in CRO and UI/UX. She has excelled in optimizing website conversion rates for numerous clients using tools like heatmaps and Google Analytics.

↓ Now let’s dive right in ↓

Unlock the Power of Heatmaps: Supercharge Your SEO and UX Strategy

Kenichi: Good evening everyone. My name is Kenichi Suzuki.

Rio: My name is Rio Ichikawa. We’re pleased to join you today from Faber Company based in Tokyo. Kenichi is a renowned SEO expert, and I’m specialized in UX and CRO.

seo company case study

Rio: Since BrightonSEO is a SEO conference, what am I doing here as a UXer?

Kenichi: Well, that’s a good point. Let’s think this through…what do you think is the ultimate goal of SEO?

seo company case study

Kenichi: For sure, rankings matter. But that’s not exactly the purpose. SEO is ultimately about increasing conversions and engagement on your site – in short, generating more money.

seo company case study

Rio: Ah I see, so in order to successfully optimize your website, you need both good SEO and UX.

Kenichi: Exactly! Having a website that ranks highly but has poor UX is pointless. We need both good UX and good SEO for creating user experiences that perform well in search. Does that make sense?

Rio: That makes total sense! Great UX is also critical to increasing conversion and user engagement. Then I guess I deserve to be here.

Kenichi: At Faber Company, we’ve improved UX for 20 years. We’ve seen conversions go up by 1.6 times, click-through rates increased by 10 points, and people reading through more content. UX is something that can be improved strategically. Rio, I know you worked on many of UX wins we had. What did you do to make them happen? Can you share some of your strategies?

seo company case study

Rio: Absolutely! There’s this one tool I always rely on when creating a better UX, Heatmaps. Heatmaps help you visualize how people are engaging with the content on your pages. Heatmaps help you optimize your webpages based on the real users’ behaviors, leading to getting more conversions and satisfying your users.

3 Main Features of Mieruca Heatmap

Kenichi: I heard our heatmap tool has 3 main features. Can you walk through what they are?

Rio: Absolutely. There are 3 main features. One is Attention Heatmaps, also known as Read Heatmaps. Another one is Scroll Heatmaps, and the last one is Click Map. Let me explain one by one. Attention Heatmap visualizes which section of the page the users are reading and engaging the most. So by using the Attention Heatmap, you can see which part of your page are getting more attention. Moving onto Scroll Heatmap. Scroll Heatmap visualizes how deep the users have scrolled down the page. So by using this, you’ll be able to figure out at which section of the page the users have lost interest and left the page. The last one is, Click Heatmap. Click Heatmap is very simple. It shows you which part or element of the page are clicked by users. You can use this heatmap to figure out if the elements on the page are being clicked as expected.

seo company case study

Case Study 1: ABC-MART

Kenichi: Thanks, Rio. Now, moving onto our first case study: ABC-MART ecommerce website. ABC Mart is a leading shoe retailer in Japan. By using the heatmaps, they were able to increase their conversion rate significantly.

seo company case study

Kenichi: This is a product listing page for trekking shoes. On the left, you can see that the page has a hero image, rankings of popular items, popular brands, search by price, and category lists presented from top to bottom. On the right, you can see Attention Heatmaps, which indicate the areas that received the most attention. So Rio, how did your team analyze the heatmap data in the redesigning process?

seo company case study

Rio: Let me explain – first, let’s take a look at the heatmaps data for each section. There’s a popular items section right below the hero image. You can see that data point is high and showing red for this section. That means popular items section is getting more attention. Let’s take a look at the next section.

seo company case study

Rio: As you can see, Popular Brands, which only displays the brand logos, is showinf lower data points and a cooler tone compared to the previous section. Same thing can be said to Search by Brand section. These sections are leading to the high exits. Now it’s obvious that the page visitors aren’t really interested in Popular Brands and Search by Brand section.

seo company case study

Rio: So now we’re at the buttom of the page. As you can see, there’s a category list. Usually, users lose interest towards the end of the page. But when you take a look at this, you can see that the section is surprisingly catching more attention.

seo company case study

Kenichi: Thanks, Rio. Let me recap your key findings. Visitors showed substantial interest in the Popular Item section at the top of the page. They also spent a lot of time engaging with the product category lists, despite them being positioned at bottom. However, the popular brands and search by price filter were mostly ignored.

seo company case study

Rio: Based on those heatmap insights, we came up with some hypotheses. First hypothesis is “Visitors who are interested in popular items want to directly browse popular items”. Second hypothesis is “Potential CV users want to see items by categories, rather than by brands or pricing”.

Rio: Based on these 2 hypothesis, we came up with action items. First, we placed a [Show more] button below the popular items, so that users can easily start browsing products. We also moved the category list higher up in the page so more users can interact with the section and prevent withdrawals.

seo company case study

Kenichi: So what happened after you made those tweaks? Any good results?

Rio: Great news, the newly inserted CTA [Show More] button managed to gain a lot of clicks! We also saw a major improvement on the scroll heatmap too.

seo company case study

Rio: Because of the changes, it succeeded in getting the site visitors to scroll the page much deeper, leading to a lower withdrawal rate. We also saw huge improvements in terms of CVR, CTR, and PDP transition rate..

seo company case study

Kenichi: Sweet! Now I get why heatmaps are so useful.

Case study 2: aimerfeel

Rio: I have another case study to share. aimerfeel is a langerie ecommerce website in Japan. We updated their page layout utlizing heatmaps, and we successfully increased the Click Through Rate on the website by over 10 point.

seo company case study

Rio: So this page introduces popular page by popular colors. Just below the fold, the colors are listed as buttons. If you click any of these buttons, it will scroll down to the section of the chosen color.

seo company case study

Rio: Let’s take a look at the Scroll Heatmap. You can see that around 25% of the users have left the page even before reaching the main content area.

seo company case study

Rio: Based on this data, we came up with hypothesis. First hypothesis is, redundant text is causing visitors to lose focus. Second one is, the Color Picker button at the top might’ve not recognized as a clickable element. The third one is, rather than seeing the hero image, visitors want to start browsing the list of products right away.

Rio: So based on these hypothesis, we created action items. First, we removed the redundant and repetitive text. Next, we added text-based CTA to make it clear that the color picker buttons are clickable. Last one, we moved the color picker buttons to a higher position so that the viewers can view the products more quickly.

seo company case study

Rio: After making all those changes, the CTR of this page doubled up. On top of that, the Scroll rate of this page went up by 15 point. Overall CTR on the page also increased by 10%.

seo company case study

Kenichi: The results your team achieved are truly remarkable. By optimizing the UI through heatmap analysis, you enabled more visitors to successfully find and shop their desired products. Now, could you share some tips on utilizing the heatmaps more effectively?

Tips on utilizing heatmaps

Rio: Sure, let me share some tips with you when using the heatmaps. First tip: when you use Scroll Heatmap, make sure to audit the above-the-fold content. So if you find a fold with higher points, investigate areas above the fold. Second tip is, use the Attention Heatmap or so-called Read Heatmap to look for red areas. And if you find these sections, leverage them. In turn, if you find areas that aer getting lower attention, simply remove them or shorten the section to reduce withdrawal rate.

seo company case study

Kenichi: Today we’ve shared 2 e-commerce case studies demonstrating how heatmaps can help achieve higher conversion rate and user engagement. I also want to highlight that heatmaps are also incredibly helpful for optimizing article pages, especially for lengthy pages.

Heatmaps for Articles

Kenichi: This page on my company’s blog, for example, is ranking number one for a highly competitive keyword, yet heatmaps revealed that only 20% of visitors read the article til the end.

seo company case study

Kenichi: As you can see, this article is quite long. The issue was visible on another blog post as well, where heatmaps revealed that only 2% of the site visitors reached the final paragraph. While we achieved high rankings, users did not engage with our content.

seo company case study

Kenichi: Let me ask you all…do you usually read articles word-for-word? There’s no way. ChatGPT is the epitome of this trend. People these days don’t read, but they skim and skip. So how can we encourage readers to fully engage with our articles from start to finish?

Kenichi: This is where heatmaps come in. From here, Rio will take over and share how to leverage heatmaps to optimize engagement for articles.

seo company case study

Rio: As many of you said you don’t read articles in their entirety, attention heatmap data also shows that. As you can see, the number goes up when the visual contents such as images, graphs etc. are inserted, but the number goes down when the text is too long. So not only the heatmap helps you identify the parts on your page that people are engaging, but it also helps you identify the parts that people are disengaged.

Heatmap for articles – In Case of Our Company Blog

Rio: Here’s an article from our blog. When I looked at the Scroll Heatmap for this page, I was shocked. Half of the visitors have left the page before reaching the main content area. Imagine you put a lot of effort on SEO or spend a lot of money on pay-per-click to gain the visitors, but half of them didn’t even stay to engage with the content. In fact, 80% of them couldn’t make it past the first paragraph.

seo company case study

Rio: Hey Kenichi, you’ve been publishing daily articles on your SEO blog for almost 20 years now. Could you could share some pro tips with us on keeping readers engaged with your content.

Creating content that attract readers

Kenichi: Sure thing. Here are some tips for enhancing the UX of article pages. Firstly, Include relevant images and charts that visually engage readers: as I pointed out, people hate reading. Visuals can communicate more information than text alone. Our brains can also process visuals faster than reading text.

Kenichi: Next, use bullet points and numbered lists for easy scanning of key information: the eye can quickly and easily identify the individual points or items. It’s also effective to incorporate descriptive subheadings to orient readers: they help to make your writing more scannable.

Kenichi: Then, place engaged parts higher on the page: so visitors can find their desired content quickly. Last but not least, craft concise sentences that convey one main thought: long sentences may hinder readers from comprehending the meaning.

A/B Testing

Rio: Back to our blog article, the high withdrawal rate above the fold wasn’t unique to the one article, but in fact, it was seen in most of the article pages on our blog. Which means that the content itself is less likely to be the villain here. There’s something common across all articles that might be causing this, I thought. So which common element was the villain? I hypothesized the side bar content, especially the ad banner is distracting the users from the main content and make them feel they’re in the wrong page.

seo company case study

Rio: So we simply removed it. After this, the scroll rate went up like a skyrocket. Even at the very end of the article, about 20% of the users are now remaining as oppposed to 2% before.

seo company case study

Rio: Through compelling evidence and expertise, we have demonstrated the immense power of heatmaps to optimize UX, captivate users, and drive results. We hope you feel empowered to unlock the power of heatmaps at your organization.

SEO Content Writing Services

SEO content writing is the art of creating compelling content for visitors while following SEO best practices to ensure your content is findable and drives qualified visitors from search.

SEO content writing services are an essential part of every digital marketing program.

By entering your email address, you agree to receive emails from Brafton in accordance with our Privacy Policy . You may unsubscribe from these communications at any time.

Amplify Your Brand Through SEO Content Writing

You may have (or should have) heard of “SEO” but might be asking yourself “What is that, and why do I need it? Do I actually need it?” To summarize briefly, SEO content writing involves the strategic placement of keywords throughout your online content to help it rank higher on search engine results pages (SERPs).

To quickly answer those second and third questions: yes. Every single person on the internet uses a search engine. Online searches are arguably the primary driver of traffic to the web pages of businesses relevant to the searcher’s query. In the age of web users having answers to their questions at their fingertips within milliseconds, your business simply can’t afford not to optimize its online content.

While paid marketing is important, this kind of unpaid organic marketing is invaluable. By using a content writing service to produce SEO content, you can get an incredible amount of proverbial bang for your buck and, after all, ROI is the end goal of any marketing effort.

Regardless of the field or industry your business is in, it can undoubtedly benefit from employing professional content writing services to boost its search engine rankings.

Higher Rankings, Traffic and Conversions

Quantity-over-quality copywriting is obsolete. Yesteryear’s content writing service is insufficient for today’s SEO strategy. Modern search engines feature complex algorithms built to separate relevant, valuable online marketing from web content utilizing outdated SEO practices. Haphazardly inserting keywords into shallow content now only serves to damage your brand’s standing on search engine results pages (SERPs) and in the eyes of your target audience. That’s why every Brafton SEO writer is trained on the latest best practices, incorporating cutting-edge marketing techniques tailored to boost your online presence and cater to your readers’ wants and needs. Melding journalism, creative writing and digital marketing proficiency, our professional writers collaborate with strategists and SEO consultants to ensure every piece of marketing hits the mark, regardless of the type of content.

Brafton writers, strategists and consultants work together to develop an engaging content marketing strategy that resonates with potential customers and results in website content that ranks on SERPs. Your brand requires high-quality web content crafted with search engine optimization in mind.

Serve Searcher Intent with High Quality Content

Search engines are no longer fooled by keyword stuffing and other black hat SEO techniques. An “SEO article” loaded with desirable search terms is liable to do more harm than good for your SEO endeavors. Rather, modern search engines care about searcher intent. Your audience has questions, and your website content must provide answers.

Our SEO experts help you satisfy searcher intent for each keyword you target. Our philosophy is one keyword, one blog post (or landing page) — no aimless “article writing” with multiple keywords peppered into your blog. Quality content crafted to serve searcher intent turns visitors into clients and ensures your website isn’t lost in the digital shuffle.

From commercial queries to informational searches, our SEO content writers work tirelessly to ensure your content marketing meets the demands of your target audience.

See Keyword Research and Creative Intent in One Place

All SEO writing begins with developing Brafton’s unique Search Performance Brief (SBP). This is a document that outlines the keyword the content strategist has decided to optimize for, as well as the rationale and content strategy behind that decision.

Your strategist will use several platforms during their keyword research to determine which target keywords to optimize for (that your site can rank for), starting with Google. By conducting plenty of searches, they will establish which keywords to target by analyzing autofill questions, related searches and the “People also ask” section of search results. Through examining these results, the strategist can discover what your potential leads actually search for.

We create a complete blueprint that will help your writer create high quality content.

The resulting SPB includes:

  • Keyword data.
  • SERP targeting direction.
  • TF-IDF (term frequency-inverse document frequency) evaluation details.
  • And much more.

Finally, and most importantly, your dedicated SEO content writer weaves this information — and your brand guidelines — into the most comprehensive piece of content on the web for your target keyword. This is content writing for SEO perfected.

Once the writing has been completed, your writer will leverage an AI content planning and optimization platform to determine the content’s quality and to make adjustments as needed.

As part of our SEO services, all content is sent to project managers and the client in question for review and approval.

Every piece of SEO copy that doesn’t receive an SPB — from blog posts to gated downloadable assets (e.g. eBooks and white papers) to press releases — is mapped out by our SEO content writers to ensure it serves searcher intent, supports your business goals, follows industry best practices, aligns with similar trending topics, features appropriate keywords and phrases and stands out from existing content on the web.

Data-led content creation is the only way to optimize copywriting that will perform well on search and drive the most qualified traffic directly to your website. Project managers stand by to act as client advocates, examining every article outline for SEO and audience engagement opportunities. Following multiple rounds of edits and revisions, your content is delivered through our proprietary software.

Fuel Your SEO with Incredible UX

Well-designed UX is not only vital for guiding web visitors and keeping them on-site, it’s essential for SEO. Organic sharing of your website is among the most important SEO ranking factors, and UX plays a major role in whether visitors will share your site with others. Our SEO consultants can identify potential problems with your website UX and recommend fixes geared toward providing an enjoyable experience that’s more likely to be shared. Consultants also conduct professional health checks on your website to resolve any lingering issues interfering with your SEO efforts.

Make Sure Your SEO Stays Strong

Creating SEO friendly optimized content is not a one-and-done endeavor. Online content requires continual upkeep to support relevance. Whether it’s brand new SEO copywriting or reoptimizing existing copy, you’ll also need to produce content continuously to create value in the eyes of target audiences and search engines.

The results of SEO writing aren’t instant — they can take anywhere between 2 and 12 months to make themselves visible — it’s nonetheless important to strive to improve them constantly, especially given that SEO best practices are always evolving, with some changes toppling formerly highly-ranked web content and forcing it into the unseen chasms of SERPs.

At Brafton, we’re not just in the business of article writing. As part of our SEO copywriting services, our expert writers, strategists and consultants pride themselves on staying up to date with SEO changes. Judge Tosses X/Twitter Case Against Group That Produced Study On Proliferation Of Hate Speech On Platform

A federal judge tossed out a lawsuit brought by X/Twitter against a watching group that produced a study that examined the proliferation of hate speech on the platform.

U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer concluded that the platform, owned by Elon Musk, was attempting to chill the speech rights of the Center for Countering Digital Hate and other groups.

The judge wrote that X’s “motivation in bringing this case is evident. X Corp. has brought this case in order to punish [Center for Countering Digital Hate] for CCDH publications that criticized X Corp.-and perhaps in order to dissuade others who might wish to engage in such criticism.”

X/Twitter had sued the group, claiming that in doing their study, they unlawfully “scraped” the platform for its data that led to an exodus of advertisers.

“X disagrees with the court’s decision and plans to appeal,” the company said.

Read the X decision .

Imran Ahmed, founder and CEO of the watchdog group, wrote, “This ruling sends a strong message to those who aim at intimidating and silencing independent research.”

In his ruling, the judge even suggested that X/Twitter’s litigation had chilled other types of research into disinformation online. He pointed to a recent survey of 167 academics and researchers that “found that over 100 studies about X Corp. have been diverted, stalled, or canceled, with over half of those interviewed citing a fear of being sued by X Corp. over their findings or data."

The judge also noted the similarities of this case to another one brought by X/Twitter against Media Matters for America, another watchdog group that published a study on the placement of ads on X next to inflammatory hate and racist posts.

Breyer wrote in a footnote, “If there is any question about the ‘punishing’ part, X Corp. filed a similar suit, not before this Court, in November of 2023 against Media Matters, another non-profit media watchdog, for ‘reporting on ads from major brands appearing next to neo-Nazi content.’ Prior to doing so, Musk threatened a ‘thermonuclear lawsuit’ against Media Matters.”

Breyer rejected X/Twitter’s arguments that the Center for Countering

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced the phase-two winners of the  Hydrogen Shot Incubator Prize , a multi-phase competition launched by the DOE  Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office (HFTO) to identify, develop, and test disruptive technologies that reduce the cost of producing clean hydrogen. This prize competition complements DOE's comprehensive portfolio of research, development, and demonstration efforts to achieve DOE's  Hydrogen Shot goal of reducing the cost of producing clean hydrogen to $1 per kg.

The four winners announced for this phase (the Prove! phase) will each receive $300,000 in national laboratory vouchers and $100,000 in cash to support their demonstration efforts in preparation for the final stage in 2025—phase three ( Pitch Day! ), in which competing teams will present their innovations to potential investors and commercial partners.

The Prove!  phase winners announced today are shown below:

During the Prove! phase, teams developed their concepts and designs with the help of national laboratory experts. Submissions included a plan with preliminary designs for a laboratory-scale demonstration, along with techno-economic and emissions analyses to validate the proposed concepts.

"These winning projects complement HFTO's broader hydrogen portfolio by supporting novel approaches and technologies for clean hydrogen production," said HFTO Director Dr. Sunita Satyapal. "We are all eager to see how they advance their ideas in the final stage!"

In phase one ( Propose! ), completed in October 2022,  nine winning teams each received $60,000 for their early-stage concepts for novel hydrogen production technologies. Phase-one prizes consisted of $10,000 in cash and $50,000 in vouchers for teams to spend at national laboratories to further develop their concepts.

The Hydrogen Shot Incubator Prize competition supports DOE's  Hydrogen Shot goal of reducing the cost of producing clean hydrogen to $1 per kilogram. Officially known as the American-Made H-Prize: Hydrogen Shot Incubator,  this prize is administered by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and is led by HFTO with support from the DOE Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management.
