Admissions & Requirements:
General requirements for Master's students at UNC Charlotte can be found on the Graduate Admissions website .
In addition to the general requirements for admission to the Graduate School, the following are required for admission to the MSN in Systems Population Nursing; Nurse Educator.
- Current unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse. Current license in North Carolina or a compact state or the state identified by faculty for clinical practice before enrollment.
- Baccalaureate degree from regionally accredited university. A BSN is preferred. If the baccalaureate is not in nursing, other prerequisite courses may be required in your plan of study.
- Overall GPA of 3.0 in the last degree earned is preferred.
- Completion of a statistics course with a grade of C or better.
- A statement of purpose describing the applicant's experience and educational goals of the chosen specialty. Include a description of a selected area of specialization in nursing practice.
- Three letters of recommendation from professional colleagues.
- One year of professional nursing practice is recommended.
This program requires completion of 39 credit hours in approved courses, including two clinical practicum and a synthesis course.

Additional Degree Requirements:
- A total of 180 hours in a clinical specialty and 180 hours of supervised teaching experience is required. The clinical site and preceptors are individually arranged by students and course faculty. CAUTION: Not all states allow out-of-state programs to oversee clinical rotations in their state. Check with faculty advisors before taking travel assignments or relocating to other states.
- Faculty Advising is required.
- Access to computer within minimum requirements for online courses. Current minimum computer Hardware specifications are listed at Student Computing Services.

Coordinates and guides clinical activities/projects of nurses within a practice area. Being a Nursing Education Specialist collaborates with members of the health care team to design and implement safe, cost-effective, and evidence-based care strategies. May require a master's degree in nursing. Additionally, Nursing Education Specialist requires Registered Nurse (RN) License. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.
