The Importance of Physics in Our Daily Lives

Physics is the science that helps us understand various natural phenomena that are embedded in our reality. We use physics in our daily life activities such as walking, cutting, watching, cooking, and opening and closing things.

Physics is one of the most elementary sciences that contributes directly to the development of science and the development of new technologies. Let's have a look at the importance of physics in our daily lives.

What is the Importance of Physics in Our Daily Life?

Physics is one of the most important parts of our lives. Whatever we do, there is physics. We apply the principles of physics in our everyday life activities. In this article, we will discuss how important is physics in our daily life.

Why Do We Study Physics?

Physics helps us to understand the world around us, find quantitative physical laws for everything, bring a broad perspective to any problem and satisfy our curiosity.

Physics is one of the oldest and most complex sciences because it is related to the rest of the other sciences. Physics studies everything that takes place in the universe, including particles, natural phenomena and energy, and their relationship to each other. Physics is characterized by precision, which motivates scientists always to invent new tools and methods that take care of the accuracy and results of physical experiments.

There are many branches of physics , the most important of which are classical physics, modern physics, nuclear physics, atomic physics, molecular physics, biophysics, mechanical physics (mechanics), geophysics, astrophysics, acoustics, and each of these branches includes its own physical definitions and laws.

Some basic scientific theories in different areas of physics may include:

  • The theory of classical mechanics.
  • Electromagnetic theory.
  • Quantum theory.
  • Laws of Thermodynamics.
  • Theory of Relativity.
  • Theory of gravity.
  • Kinetic theory of matter.
  • Statistical mechanics theory.

The importance of physics in our lives is highlighted by the many applications that physics has made possible in people's lives, and which have become one of the indispensable necessities of life .

The Importance of Physics in Our Everyday Life

The importance of physics in our lives is highlighted by the many applications that physics has made possible in people's lives, and which have become one of the indispensable necessities of life.

It can be said that the reason for the great progress that human civilization has witnessed in recent centuries is due in one way or another to the science of physics, especially finding the laws of motion and after discovering the principles upon which many devices are built, such as means of communication.

Physics intersects with mathematics , and the two are considered twins in the sciences. Most natural phenomena and their various behaviors must be converted into important mathematical equations and formulas that serve human needs and predict these phenomena. Thus, it is concluded that mathematics and physics can never be separated.

Physics is divided into a huge number of branches, each of which specializes in a specific field. Perhaps the most prominent branches of physics are; Atomic and nuclear physics, acoustics, optics, astrophysics, geophysics, thermodynamics, and many other branches.

A large number of scientists have contributed to this enormous field of knowledge throughout humanity, which has brought physics to such a high level that it is at the present time.

Physics is of great importance in life and this is what we will learn about in the following points:

Science and technology play an important role in our daily life. Physics plays a decisive role in modern culture and is part of human history. Its development has contributed to the progress of many other human activities, from medicine to space travel, from economics to telecommunications, etc.

Physics deals with the things like matter, force, energy and motion. All these are related to our daily tasks. Physics defines how everything around us works. We cannot separate ourselves from the wonders of physics.

Physics influences our conception of the world and of man; It is the basis of all the devices we use; allows us to evaluate the possibilities and limitations of our activities.

Physics helps us analyze, evaluate, and distinguish solutions to different problems. Physics isn't just in labs, it's everywhere we look.

Physics allows us to better understand natural phenomena and relate them to our daily activities. In this way, we can explain how and why things happen in addition to experimenting and confirming the results. Where is the Earth's Center of Gravity Located?

We can walk easily only because of physics. When we put our foot on the ground, we apply a force to it. In doing this, the ground also applies an equal force to our foot, but in the opposite direction, and propels us forward. This is what we call Newton's third law.

When we want to open and close hinged doors, we use physics. The phenomenon involved in opening and closing doors is called "torque". Torque is the measure of the force required to rotate an object about an axis or fulcrum. The torque is positive when you open the door clockwise and negative if you open it anticlockwise.

We use a steam iron to give our clothes a professionally pressed look and feel from the comfort of our home. A steam iron uses a lot of physics principles to make it work like "Heat" (a form of energy that is transferred from one body to another as a result of a temperature difference).

We use physics in our kitchens to cook delicious foods. In the cooking process, we use a branch of physics called "thermodynamics". Thermodynamics deals with heat and temperature that are necessary for cooking foods.

When we cut fruits and vegetables, we use many principles of physics. In order to cut anything, we have to apply pressure to the knife. The pressure is directly dependent on the force and inversely dependent on the area. Therefore, when we increase the pressure on the knife, we can cut any object easily.

We use car seat belts to prevent us from sliding inside the car in the event of a collision. Our car seat belt works on the concept of physics called "inertia". In an accident, a fast-running car suddenly stops. So, the momentum of the car drops to zero in a very short time. The seat belt helps prevent the body from moving in the forward direction. As our body resists stopping due to inertia.

Sound is something we cannot see but hear or experience. Physics here works on the concept of quantum mechanics and studies the origin, propagation and properties of sound. Sound is vital for interacting with others, sharing information, creating art, and countless other aspects of life.

We use headphones/earphones to listen to music and sound. Our headphones/earphones work on the concept of physics called magnetism and sound waves. Headphones/earphones consist of two transducers that receive electrical impulses from an audio receiver, converting the impulses into radio waves. And then they convert radio waves into sound energy that our ears perceive.

We entertain ourselves by clicking our photos. The Lens used in our cameras works on the principle of physics called Optics, which studies the behavior and properties of light. The camera's digital sensor prepares to organize data coming from the light and the camera uses a set of convex lenses to take real inverted images on the film.

Topics That Interest in Physics

Physics is the science that is concerned with the study of nature, which consists of matter and energy, and accordingly, we can say that physics is concerned with defining the basic quantities in the universe (such as velocity, acceleration, charge, momentum, ...).

Physics also attempts to find relationships between these quantities in addition to the laws that describe them (such as Newton's laws, Coulomb's law, the laws of quantum mechanics, Bernoulli's principle, Theory of relativity, statistical mechanics, ...); This connection between quantities is usually done using mathematics, graphs, statistics, and other methods.

Physics raises many big questions, some of which have been answered, but most of them are still pending such as:

  • How did the universe begin?
  • What is the fate of the universe in the end?
  • How did life evolve from nonliving matter?
  • Why does time seem to flow only in one direction?
  • What is a matter made of?
  • Where do ultrahigh-energy particles come from?
  • How big is space ?
  • Why is the night sky dark?
  • How does lightning happen?
  • What are the forces controlling nature in the universe?
  • Is there a theory that can describe everything?
  • Can we find a unified theory of physics?

These and other questions are the domain of physics. If we can answer them,  this may lead us to great benefits.

For example, while previously humans were trying to answer some specific physics questions (such as Maxwell, Faraday,...) these and other scientists came up with what may be the greatest thing in our lives today; Which is electricity, generating it, and benefiting from it, and they reached it specifically when they were trying to answer a set of questions related to the study of light, electric and magnetic fields, and in more scientific words; Electromagnetic theory.

How to Learn Physics Easily

One of us may want to learn physics for several reasons; Such as a job, fame, money, desire for knowledge, love of science, or any other reason, and since the article aims to introduce the importance of physics, it is necessary to mention the way to learn physics.

Learning physics may seem complicated, but it is actually much simpler than we imagine since physics is in essence a search for answers that have plagued the human mind throughout the ages.

Physics aims first and foremost to understand the universe and its strange phenomena. The human mind picks up by observation the initial questions that his thinking later refines into mature questions that lead the world in its search for truth, ending with the amazing discovery of the answer to the question or perhaps other answers, or perhaps other new questions in most cases.

To learn physics, you must first realize that it takes a lot of effort to be able to understand physics, in addition to your need to learn many different things in the fields of natural sciences, computers, engineering, and others, so that you can understand physical theories and learn about their existing applications.

In order to fully understand physics, it is necessary to attend a university program in the field of physics. You will be able to get many opportunities there, and you will learn what you cannot learn from books or the Internet, such as scientific research methods in physics, and ways of thinking about physical problems, and you will get to know people who specialize in physics; Which will give you the opportunity to talk with them (whether they are professors or other students).

If a person wants more specialization and depth in studying physics, he must enroll in a university program specialized in physics, and this is the best way. It comes to mind, besides being able to participate in research teams.

It is important to mention the importance of the university in this way, as no matter how useful the means by which a person learns physics, it will not replace the university. But if it is difficult to enroll in a university program, perhaps some tips will be useful, and where the person has to do self-learning.

It is preferable to start studying mathematics, as it is the universal language. We use math concepts in almost every aspect of life . Using math formulas, physics provides solutions and various explanations for the phenomena of the universe.

It is a good idea to start by learning some basic math topics; Such as calculus, linear algebra, solving differential equations, learning about complex numbers, statistics and probability, and some special functions, then classical mechanics, optics, thermodynamics, solar system , electromagnetic theory, special theory of relativity, quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, and solid-state physics, Some advanced mathematics, nuclear physics, general relativity, astrophysics, cosmology, time, and high-energy physics. After that, the learner will be able to set out to explore and specialize in the field he wants.

Conclusion:

Physics plays a prominent role in the progress of human civilization and physics has many uses and applications in daily practical life.

The applications of physics do not involve only one field but are diverse to include energy, medicine, transportation, aviation, space, communications, and satellites, in addition to modern technology.

Applications of Physics in Everyday Life

importance of physics in daily life essay

What Are Some Examples of the Laws of Motion?

Physics extends well into your everyday life, describing the motion, forces and energy of ordinary experience. In actions such as walking, driving a car or using a phone, physics is at work. For everyday living, all the technologies you might take for granted exploit the rules of physics.

Simple Mechanical Devices

An easy place to see physics in action is with a simple lever – most easily observed at a park. Levers come in three flavors, each with varying fulcrum locations. They serve to magnify force, lessening the effort needed to move an object on the opposing end. A simple “see-saw” at a park consists of a lever (the locations for sitting) and the fulcrum (placed in the middle). The two opposing forces counterbalance each other, creating a smooth ride through the air. At the same park you'll see a slide, a device that combines the stairs going up with the slide going down, both examples of inclined planes. The inclined plane eases the effort of climbing by spreading it over a longer distance. The smooth slide returns you gently to earth, slowing the influence of gravity just enough to make it fun.

Transportation and Newton's Laws

The transportation industry is no stranger to the manipulation of everyday physics. Cars and trains utilize the wheel, which provides a smooth, steady motion. Newton's laws of motion are at work as mechanical force and acceleration, action, reaction and inertia. Airplanes take it one step further, allowing lift as well as forward momentum. They manipulate physics – much like birds – by creating lift through wing shape as well as the wing’s angle – both of which serve to alter airflow.

Relativity and Modern Communications

Physics is all relative. This theme resonates through Einstein’s special and general theories of relativity. Einstein's work is crucially important to GPS in your phone, for example. It takes radio signals from several satellites orbiting the Earth and calculates your location accurate to several centimeters. Because the speed and height of the satellites alters the signal very slightly, the smartphone adjusts the results using Einstein's theories. Without a helping hand from relativity, GPS would be far less accurate or useful.

Physics and Biology

Even as you read this sentence, physics is at work. The eyes evolved in many species – through several examples of convergent evolution – harnessing the electromagnetic spectrum. The ears hear sounds which occur through the movement of air molecules. And the chemistry that drives all of biology depend on the physics of energy and molecules. Every day, for example, plants absorb sunlight, water and carbon dioxide, creating glucose and releasing oxygen as a byproduct.

Physics in Daily Life: Facts, Examples, and Importance

importance of physics in daily life essay

Physics  extends to your  daily life  to describe the motion, forces, and energy of the ordinary experience. Physics is at work in tasks such as walking, driving a car or using a phone. Knowledge of physics is helpful in everyday situations as well as in non-scientific tasks.

For example, physics helps you understand:

  • How food is cooked in a microwave oven,
  • Why a radiator helps to dissipate the heat of a car engine, and
  • Why a white ceiling helps to keep the inside of a house cool.

Thousands of such questions can be answered and explained via physics.

Physics is the foundation of many critical scientific disciplines, such as chemistry is rooted in quantum physics which describes the in-depth study of atoms and molecules. Physics is also applicable in most branches of engineering. In architecture, physics is pivotal to determining structural stability, acoustics, heating, lighting and cooling systems for buildings. In Geology, the study of non-living parts of the Earth, such as the study of atmosphere, lithosphere, hydrosphere, earthquakes, storms, volcanoes, and other natural disasters, such as floods, droughts, and extreme heat on the Earth’s surface. Some disciplines, such as chemical electrodynamics, optics, thermodynamics and modern physics, are important branches of physics for studying natural phenomena.  Physical science  also describes the chemical processes in the human body through biophysics. Physics is implicated in medical diagnoses, such as X-rays, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and ultrasonic blood flow measurements. Physics can also explain what we perceive with our senses, such as how the ear detects sound or how the eye detects colour.

10 Examples of Physics in daily life:

1. alarm clock ringing:.

Physics is involved everywhere in your daily life, from when you wake up in the morning to going to sleep at night. The alarm clock’s buzz helps you wake up in the morning according to your schedule. Sound is something that you cannot see but can hear or feel. Physics studies the origin, transmission, and properties of sound. The  concept of quantum mechanics  is applicable here.

2. Electricity:

Electricity is one of physics’ most important direct applications in people’s lives and a major energy source. It is a continuous stream of  electric charges moving inside a conductor , known as electric current.

The importance of electricity can be understood from the conditions people endure when electricity is disconnected from their houses. All the electrical appliances stop working, the lights go out, and life becomes difficult.

3. Static Electricity:

When two objects that are not good conductors of electricity are rubbed together, electrons from one object rub off on the other.  The more friction between two objects, the more static electricity is built up  and the greater the electric charge.

This is why when you rub the pencil on your hair and move it towards small pieces of paper, the small pieces stick to your pencil. This is just a small example.

4. The Density of Seawater and Swimming in it:

The density of seawater is higher than normal water, so it is easier to swim in it. There’s an ocean in which people never drown and remain above the surface of the water because of its  water’s density . The name of this sea is the dead sea.

5. Smartphone:

Smartphones have become like oxygen in modern social life. Now hardly anyone will be untouched by the effects of smartphones. Whether it is to send an important message, chat constantly, talk on video calls, send money or do any other important work, smartphones are everywhere. But do you know how smart phone works?  It works on the principle of electricity and the electromagnetic spectrum , the wavy patterns of electricity and magnetism.

6. The Science behind opening the Doors:

If you apply force near the door hinge, the door will not open because it will not be able to rotate around the hinge. But, when you apply the same force away from the hinge, the torque will be larger. That makes you  easily open the door  without exerting more effort.

7. How does the Washing Machine dry the Clothes?

The dryer of a washing machine is a rapidly rotating container that applies  centrifugal force  to its contents. Centrifugal force acts away from the centre. It throws water molecules radially outward on the fabric during the washing machine’s spin cycle.

8. Why are cars facilitated with Seat belts & Airbags?

When the brakes are applied on a moving car, the lower parts of the vehicle and the passengers attached to the car stop immediately, but their upper parts tend to fall forward due to  inertia . This is why airbags are also installed in cars, along with seat belts.

9. Falling Incident:

Suppose you are climbing a tree, and suddenly, you slip and fall from the tree. Then, you are sure to break a bone or two. But if the same thing happens with a small ant, i.e. if the ant falls below the height, it does not get hurt. Why is this?

From the ant’s perspective, the atmosphere is dense and viscous, and its experience of falling from a height is similar to that of us falling through the water to the bottom of a pool. The air beneath the falling becomes a large cushion of protection.

10. How does a Pen write?

Whether at your workplace or school, the ballpoint pen is your weapon. If there were no physics, you would hardly be able to write on paper with a ballpoint pen. Here the  concept of gravity  comes into play. As your pen moves over the paper, the ball turns, and gravity forces the ink down onto the top of the ball, from where the ink continues to transfer to the paper.

It is hard to imagine life without physics. Many other examples are available; you only need an eye to spot them. If you have any queries or suggestions, kindly let us know in the comments section below.

The Use of Physics in my Daily Activities Essay

Science, which is defined as the rigorous effort by mankind to understand how the natural world functions, has emerged as the most important field of study in modern times. Through scientific studies, humans have been able to understand the world better and come up with numerous inventions that have improved life. One important branch of science is physics, which is the branch that focuses on the character and attributes of matter and energy. Physics has numerous applications in the world. Most of the activities that people engage in on a daily basis involve some aspects of physics. In this paper, I will discuss the use of physics in some of my daily activities in order to highlight the widespread of impact of this branch of science in human life.

The physics principle of friction is arguably one of the most influential in my daily activities. From the moment I get out of bed in the morning to when I retire to sleep, friction is at work. By definition, friction is the force that acts opposite to movement (Halliday, Resnick & Walker, 2010). This force enables me to get out of bed and walk out of my room. Friction enables me to walk since there is friction between the floor and my foot. Without it, I would not be able to move forward but would instead slide and fall to the floor. This force makes it possible for me to wash my face using soap and water. The friction produced between my face and the bathing cloth ensures that any dirt is removed from my face and I remain clean. When I get to the kitchen, I make use of friction to strike a match and produce fire. Friction also makes it possible for me to operate a car and move from place to place. The friction between the road surface and the tyre makes it possible for the car to move forward when the gas pedal is pressed (Halliday et al., 2010). When stoping the car, this force acts between the brake pad and the brake rotor enabling the car to slow down and eventually stop. Friction also makes it possible for me to clean dishes and wash my clothes.

The physics force of gravity manifests itself in many of my daily activities. Halliday et al. (2010) define gravity as the force that pulls objects towards the center of the Earth. Whenever I am lifting an object from the ground, I am acting against the Earth’s gravitational pull on the object. When the water pump at our farm is not functioning, I sometimes fetch water from the well. Gravity is the force that causes the bucket to fall into the well when I release it from the top. This is also the force that causes an object to fall back to the ground when it is thrown upwards (Myers, 2006). The force makes it possible for me to engage in sporting activities such as playing soccer. Without gravity, the ball would continue going upwards and as such, it would be impossible to enjoy the sport.

When I am spraying the cattle with water using a bucket, I make use of inertia. By definition, inertia is the tendency of a body to maintain its state of rest or motion in spite of a change in velocity (Halliday et al., 2010). When I throw a bucket of water at the cattle, I swing the bucket and bring it to a sudden stop. However, the water contained in the bucket continues moving in spite of this sudden change in the velocity of the bucket. This causes the water to move outside the bucket and land on the cattle. Through inertia, I am able to hurl water over some length since the liquid maintains its state of motion even when the velocity of the bucket comes to a stop.

In our house, we have incandescent light bulbs that provide us with light. When I switch on these light bulbs, it is physics that causes the bulbs to turn on. Specifically, the principle of resistance is applied in this instance. The bulbs are able to produce light since the filament element is heated. The filament is made of a metal that has a high resistance (Myers, 2006). When electric current is made to pass through this high resistance element, a lot of heat is generated. For this reason, the filament glows white-hot when one closes the circuit and allows electric current to pass through the bulb.

While I am taking a bath at the bathtub, physics is at play. I begin by filling the tub with water and then proceed to enter into the bathtub. When I enter, the water level in the bathtub rises. For this reason, I have to make sure that the water is not filled to the brim of the tub before I get into it. This displacement of water when I enter the tab is called buoyancy. Myers (2006) notes that Archimedes, who was a Greek Mathematician, discovered the principle of buoyancy. The Archimedes principle states that when a body is submerged in water, it displaces water of an equal volume to the body (Myers, 2006). For this reason, I displace water equal to the volume of the part of my body that is submerged in the water whenever I get into the bathtub. Physic explains why I sink in the bathtub while the rubber ducks present remain afloat. The buoyancy force of an object is equal to the weight of the water displaced when an object is placed in water. For floating to occur, the object needs to displace water that that is greater than its weight.

I own a bicycle that I use for exercising and to move around when I am at home. Using this bicycle involves a lot of physics. To move the bicycle, I make use of Newton’s second law of motion. Myers (2006) documents that this law states that Force is equal to the Mass times Acceleration. As such, the amount of force I exert into the bicycle is the same that is output and it causes the bike to move forward. The acceleration of the bicycle is dependent on the force exerted and my weight. If I want to move at a high speed, I only need to apply more force on the pedals. Balancing the bicycle also requires utilizes physics. While it is hard to keep a bicycle upright when it is stationary, it is easy to balance the bike with enough forward velocity.

Throughout the day, I have to operate taps in order to get water for many activities which range from taking a shower to washing the dishes. When turning a tap on or off, the laws of physics are applied. The principle of torque makes it possible for me to turn the tap by using the opposing forces of my thumb and my index fingers (Myers, 2006). It is easier to turn the tap when I apply the force furthest from the centre. Torque is also applicable when I am opening a door. It is easy to open the door by applying force furthest from the door hinges. If I attempt to open the door by pushing near the hinge, it requires significant amount of force. This principle is also applicable when I am outdoors attempting to remove a nail from a surface using the hammer claw. When I try to remove the nail straight out, I have to use a lot of force and many times the nail refuses to move. However, when I rest the hammerhead on a surface and proceed to roll it, the nail comes out fairly easily.

In this paper, I have provided a list of some of the activities I engage in each day and how physics applies in them. I have indicated the various principles of physics that come into play as I carry out the various ordinary activities. From the discussions given in this paper, it is clear that physics is the backbone of most of the activities I engage in. The list of activities I have given through this paper is not conclusive since there are many other tasks in my day where physics is used. Describing in details some of this activities has helped me to better appreciate the important role that physics plays in the life of people, whether they are aware of it or not.

INTRODUCTION

We are living in the era of science and technology, and the inclusion of science and technology in our everyday lives has greatly improved our lives. When individuals had no notion about science after then their lives were ruled by the values of many branches of science. While we light a fire,  a chemical process takes place; while we take food and digest it, it is a biologically based process; when we walk on the ground, it is directed by the universal laws of physics; when an Earth-quake happens, it’s a seismic action; while we talked around many lands and gems of the surface of Earth surface, it is linked to Geology. There is not a single action in our everyday lives that defines our one or other arena of science. Likewise, physics rules our daily lives and is elaborate in many actions that we perform and things that we use in our everyday lives. In this paper, we will deliberate how physics plays an important role in running our daily jobs and supports us in doing our chores, errands, and obligations easily and efficiently.

Physics is deliberated as a natural science as it compacts with the elements like substance, energy motion, and force. As all of these are linked to duty associated with daily life, hence, we could say that physics deals with how the cosmos, universe, and earthwork, how the planet Earth moves around the sun, how lightning strikes the earth, how our fridge works, and much more. In brief, physics describes how the whole thing works near us. When we could not distinguish everything from science and, our world could not detach itself from the miracles of Physics. When we look around us, we can see several elements that work on the philosophies of Physics. We could enlighten our numerous actions by making the usage of the information of Physics. Here, we would deliberate certain instances, which would assist us in studying how physics plays an important role in our lives every day(Kumahara, Tanaka, & Schutz, 2004).

Many Principles of physics are elaborated in the simple action of walking. It includes the notions of mass, Newton’s 3 rd laws of motion, gravitational law, friction, kinetic, and potential energy. When we used to have a walk, we basically acted like an overturned pendulum. When we place the foot on the ground, it turns out to be our axis, and our weight is pinpointed in our abdomen, relating to the figure of an arc. While we set up our feet on the earth, we basically put the weight that is w=mg and apply a retrograded energy on the ground; as the reply to our mass, the earth retorts by an opposite force which is perpendicular in nature, on the leg which decelerates us and this decelerating method endures until our leg comes adjacent to our tummy. While the leg is stirring, K.E (kinetic energy) is at the extreme, and P.E (potential energy) is at zero value; however, when the leg extends close to the arc or belly, the P.E (potential energy) reaches its extreme value. When the further step is engaged, the store P.E (potential energy) is transformed into the K.E (kinetic energy), and this procedure carries on. We act as an im-perfect pendulum, as all of the P.E (potential energy) is not transformed into the K.E (kinetic energy). Only 65% of the power is delivered by the stored P.E. to take to the next step, while the remaining 35% of the energy is delivered by the biochemical procedures(Hunt & Minstrell, 1994).

While we used to walk, we are doing certain work in terms of physics; since W=F*S, when we exert certain forces, and as a consequence of it, we cover certain distances, we do some work. While walking, the 3 rd law of motion of Newton is applied. The 1 st law of motion deliberates that, an object continues to remain in the state of rest or motion until an external force is exerted on it. While we are in the rest position, inertia is at an extreme value. The object requires a large quantity of power to come out from the state of inertia that is when we start to walk. While we take the 1 st stage, the power is transmitted from our foot to the upper part of the body, and we start to move; in this procedure of walking, the inertia retains on varying upsurges when we put the foot on the ground and reduces when we moved the foot in the up direction. Newton’s 2nd law of motion deliberates that a=F/m(stands for acceleration, F for force, and m for mass). That is, acceleration has a direct relationship with the force that we use or exert while we are walking; hence if we apply further force, our acceleration will also increase. Newton’s 3 rd law of motion is the action and reaction of the object; It states that every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Thermodynamics is a branch of physics that deals with temperature, heat, and the amount of work that is completely due to it. Hotness or heat is a type of energy that can be moved from one medium to another medium. That is the transfer of heat. For heat transfer, heat moves from the hotter-surface to the colder surface. When we place the pan, with liquid or anything new in it, on the red-hot cooktop, the energy in the flame of the stove traces the cold pan, it starts to transfer the heat to the pan, and therefore, it makes it hooter. This process is known as conduction. Convection is a method of motion of particles in a liquid state and a gas state. While we heat up the pot, the molecules on the base of the pan start to heat up; after a while, when the molecules have sufficient energy and turn out to be more and hotter than the particles nearby, they start to move toward the surface of the water. These molecules of water that come to the surface are cooler and weightier as compared to hot water because of the lesser heat energy. Hence it starts moving downwards; this procedure lasts till all of the water molecules reach at a similar temperature(“Role of Physics in our daily,” n.d.).

The cooking method is an open system, as in this, together with the mass the energy is lost. Zeroth law of thermodynamics says that energy must be preserved; in our circumstance, the energy loosed by the flame is being used by the pot to heat the water, and therefore the sum of energy continues to be preserved. If we use the pressure oven, it usages the heat energy to carry impulsive variations into the food with the help of K.E. of the particles to carry chemical variations in food items; therefore, sustaining the laws of thermodynamics that impulsive works are finished because of the work-energy.

Cutting vegetables and fruits

When we cut vegetables and fruit, we certainly do not understand that physics can be included in this modest job; then, certainly, it is. To cut vegetables, fruits, or whatever, we must apply force on the knife. When we raise the force, we can cut a fruit or vegetable simply. Force is reliant on pressure and area that has a direct relation between force and inversely relation with the area. In short, we could say that when we apply further force, we could cut any object simply; however, if a similar force is being executed with the help of a knife with thicker edges, we could not do it. From these practices, we have learned that the knife, which has the edges with a smaller surface area, could assist in cutting any object simply. Likewise, we could cut simply with a knife that has Sharpe edges rather than that of a blunt. The blunt shaped knife has more resistance or friction, which is because of its uneven edges and hence makes it harder to cut any item(Kumahara et al., 2004).

Closing and Opening of doors

Physics is also applied in the closing and opening of the hinged gates or doors. The method involved in the closing and opening of the door is known as torque. Torque is defined as the force that is required to twist anybody around an axis or fulcrum. When we open a gate or door with the help of a handle, at the furthest place from the hinge, we can easily open the gate by making the torque.

Here, we have observed a limited instance of physics; however, our lives are ruled by physics and other branches of science. Physics rules several natural actions and also describes a variety of human-made items like vehicles, fridges, escalators, and microwaves. Therefore, we could say that physics and Physics govern our lives, making our lives easy and modifying our way of life.

The Importance of Studying Physics

Type of Math Used in Electrical Engineering

Type of Math Used in Electrical Engineering

Teachers must stress the importance of studying physics because students may not fully appreciate the advantages of physics in everyday life. Physics is one of the fields of knowledge that underlies the physical universe and applies constantly to people's everyday lives. The advantages of physics in everyday life can be as basic as the conversion of electrical energy to heat to make the morning coffee or as complex as plotting a space shuttle flight from Earth into orbit. Even though some concepts are initially difficult to grasp, the reward in terms of satisfaction and knowledge can make all the effort worth it given the incalculable importance of physics in science.

Making Technological Advances

The importance of studying physics can clearly be see in the development of cutting edge technologies. Advances in technology are often based on discoveries in physics and inventions based on a new interpretation of existing physics knowledge, thus demonstrating the importance of physics in science. For example, Wilhelm Rontgen discovered X-rays more than a century ago, and X-ray machines are now a piece of medical equipment taken completely for granted, designed and perfected by physicists and engineers working off the initial research. In the first half of the 20th century, Enrico Fermi studied existing knowledge on nuclear fission and experimented until he achieved the first nuclear chain reaction. Now the advantages of physics in everyday life are seen in the operation of nuclear energy plants that produce electricity to power homes and businesses worldwide.

Understanding the World

Not all of the benefits of physics involve material things because research and knowledge are themselves important. Astrophysics, quantum mechanics and investigations into atomic structure and energy have been able to explain much of the way the world works, even down to the original birth of the universe. Of course, the research results can also be used as the basis of new technology, as previously mentioned. At an individual level, studying physics can be personally rewarding as students begin to understand everyday objects and occurrences in terms of the concepts of physics that underlie them, such as acceleration of a car, gravity causing an apple to fall from the tree or electricity powering appliances.

Integrating with Other Disciplines

Physics is not a standalone field. The importance of physics in science extend to a wide variety of fields. For example, medical students need to know some basic physics to understand how blood and air flows in the body, taking into account concepts such as pressure, velocity of flow and changes in resistance to flow. Physics is also integral to engineering and is generally relevant for all the sciences.

Enjoying the Intellectual Challenge

Many people are afraid to study physics because it has a reputation as a difficult subject. Others don't understand the importance of studying physics or the advantages of physics in everyday life. Specific aspects of physics that many people find daunting include the need to understand different mathematical equations and graphs and then be able to translate those concepts into real life. While there may be easier subjects out there, one of the values of studying physics is that it is intrinsically challenging and therefore also extremely rewarding when a student understands it. The best place to learn physics is through formal education, as the concepts are much harder to grasp in self-directed learning.

Utilitarian value

It’s no secret that having in-depth science knowledge can be very useful. Physical science plays an important role in technology, and it is what we have to thank for our modern inventions and conveniences. For example, the telephones that we use to exchange messages and the trains we take are a product of science in some way or the other.

To the aspiring inventor, physics knowledge is of paramount importance. Solving many problems of the world will require at least some – or a lot – of knowledge in physical sciences.

Aesthetic value

Physics and art may seem like such polar opposites, but to those in the know, you’ll find that many of the greatest scientists also created masterful artworks, and many of the world’s most famous artists were also scientists. Indeed, science helps us appreciate art and nature, especially in things like symmetry and proportion. The nights that astronomers spent gazing at the night sky gave birth to not just astronomy’s brilliant discoveries but also marvellous creations of art. If you want to see art in a different light, diving into the physical sciences may just give you a newfound appreciation. Who knows, it could also inspire you to even create your own works!

Vocational value

of science. For example, an economist can study the contribution of science for the economic development.

A science education allows you to think, ponder and analyse things more critically. Enrolling in JC physics tuition can help you develop such skills and excel in your coming exam.

Role Of Physics In Daily Life Essay Sample

The physics of the world around us is so fascinating. For instance, when you are running on a treadmill, your body slows down because there is less friction against the ground. When you walk across a carpeted floor in socks, your feet will slip and slide due to static electricity which causes an imbalance between electrons that attracts them to each other. These are just two examples of how physics affects our daily lives in interesting ways.

More and more people go with Physics for getting success in life. Introduction – Role Of Physics In Daily Life Physics is a sub-branch of science in which a person shows his or her curiosity to know the driving force behind a physical phenomenon. Why do certain things happen in the same way every time like when we throw an object upward how does it come back to the earth. Similarly, we also observe these phenomena to a minute degree for getting the principle and cause behind their occurrence. Get Non-Plagiarized Custom Essay on Role Of Physics In Daily Life in USA Order Now Main Body – Role Of Physics In Daily Life That is how physics plays a crucial role to understand and everything that happens around us. Applications of physics in the Engineering and automation industry- The biggest advantage of physics that can be seen in our day-to-day life is our advanced level of the industry. From the automation industry to other major industries like the cement industry, the textile industry everything is based on the fundamental of physics. For example, if we talk about the automation industry the hydraulic system of the vehicles is developed on the principle of hydraulic brake theory. At the same time, we cannot forget hydraulic lift theory which plays a significant role in the manufacturing automobiles used in the lifting of an object from ground level to a certain height. Similarly, in other areas, physics plays a great role to ease the work of the people to get it done in a fraction of seconds. Role of physics in the communication purpose through optical fibers- The optical fibers are the cables that carry signals from one place to another to act as the communication medium between two people. For example, landline phones are working with the transmission of the signals with the help of optical fibers. These optical fibers are prepared by using the principle of refraction in physics. The principle says that the current passes on the straight light but when it enters from one media to another the refraction of light takes place and currently came back to its original path. That is how the physics principle helps us to communicate with people from far-flung areas with the help of communication cables made on the principle of refraction of light. Physics as an active discipline in the entertainment industry-  Apart from the communication and automobile industry, an active role of physics can be seen in the entertainment industry as well. The high wave frequencies that people receive to watch TV shows and radio frequencies are sent with the help of manmade satellites which are designed on the basis of physics theories. So we can say that physics plays a huge role in the smooth working of the entertainment industry across the globe. Various signals are delivered to the people by placing a communication satellite from a height to cover the maximum number of people through it. Physics plays a vital role in the area of energy storage through different media-  Various inverters, batteries, and electric heaters all are designed on the basis of theories of physics. For example, induction cookers are designed on the basis of the inductive current theory of physics. At the same time inverter batteries and other types of batteries used in emergency torch lights is some common example of direct current which is again a physical phenomenon. Apart from it when it comes to devices the new ways to store energy collected from the high energy sources like nuclear fission of atoms like uranium, the solution is given by the physical theories only. That is why we can say that physics plays a great role in energy and its storage. Applications of physics in making Ornamental lights and related stuff-  Interesting lightening which flickers within seconds and keeps on fluctuate is often used for ornamental purposes on various occasions like Christmas, new year’s eve, etc. These lights are also designed on the basis of the refraction of light similar to that of optical fibers. The demand for these lights is very high across the different parts of the world and that is why we can say that physics not only caters to the needs of the people but also their interests and dreams as well. The principle of inertia saves us from various injuries to our body-  The principle of inertia says that when an object is moving then it wants to stay in a moving state only and similar is for the rigid situation of the object or person. When the state of the object is changed suddenly it hurt the person or needs some extra force to cope with that effect on the object. For example, when a bowler catches the ball by runnings then he keeps on running a while even after catching it in order to slow down the effect of inertia. If he will stop suddenly after catching the ball he may fall to the ground.
