Essay on My Favourite Teacher for Students and Children

500+ words essay on my favourite teacher.

A teacher is one who instills in the learner an inspiration to learn and to be good. With this message, I want to start an essay on my favorite Teacher. I am a student of XII class in a  private school which is a well-known school in the city. It is a reputed school with over 1,700 students. There are about 40 teachers in our school. Among all the teachers who taught us Mr. Anurag is my favorite teacher. He taught us history.

my favourite teacher

Personality of My Teacher

Mr. Anurag is about 34 years of age, tall, smart and has a tough look. He also knows karate. He believes in high thinking and simple living and thus, always wears simple clothes and looks so sober. His manners are pleasing and liked by all. He is also an experienced English teacher.

He has masters or postgraduate degrees both in History and English. Also, he is very soft-spoken and yet strict in discipline. The best part of him is that he doesn’t believe in physical punishment. I have never seen him giving any kind of punishment to anyone. Rather disciplined is maintained nicely in his class. He has some positive influence on us.

He has perfect command over History and English. His knowledge of Indian history and English literature is very good. His pronunciation is perfect, accurate and very clear. I feel fortunate to be his student and so other students also feel the same. He looks upon us as his own sons and takes a lot of interest in solving our school and personal problems.

He is also the principal advisor of our school drama club and also prepares students for English debate and elocution contests. Under his guidance, many students have won a number of prizes and trophies in such competitions. We have become 3 times consecutive champions in debate under his guidance. He is an asset to the school and student community.

Why is He My Favorite Teacher?

His voice makes it an excellent experience to have history lessons from him. It feels that we are in that era of history. It’s like watching a video while listening to him. He has also traveled at a lot of historic places and makes good use of them as an example to make teaching and learning effective and memorable.

His talks are interesting, educative and full of literary references. He is serious and sober and yet he is a man with a great sense of humor. Even some teachers feel envious of him and his popularity among students.

Once, we went to visit the Nizam palace and Qutub shahi tombs in Hyderabad. We were surprised to know his vast and authentic knowledge about the palace and tombs. He explained so many things about the palace and the generations in detail. The visit became so memorable only with Complete knowledge of the place because of him. His vast general knowledge shows his deep interest and devotion to books. Reading is his only hobby.

Qualities of My Teacher

He often tells us that honesty and a heart-to-heart talk is the best way to strengthen a relationship. Sometimes I fail to hand in my homework on time, but he is happy when I tell him the truth – in other words, I have to be honest with him. He doesn’t set too many rules and allows students to think for themselves. He is a very good person and teacher and that’s why he is my best teacher .

History comes alive in his class. When he takes classes there is absolute silence in class and everyone focusses on the topic that he discusses. He has the capability to draw out attention to the subject and also to sustain it.

Also, he shows us various historical videos and pictures from the internet in the class and describes them thus making it much easier for us to understand what he teaches. He does not just read from the book but gives us a concrete picture of everything, so that we see them before us.

I am sure that, even after some years when I leave this school I will take his portrait fitted into the depths of my mind and heart. His picture is so deeply entrenched in my heart and head that, I think no matter, where I go, I will never forget his idealism and  I will never get another like him to see and meet.

My Favourite Teacher Essay

English Icon

Teachers play a significant role in our lives. From our childhood, they play the biggest role in shaping our character and personality. Everyone also has a favourite teacher. Here are some essays on “My Favourite Teacher.”

100 Word Essay On My Favourite Teacher

Sarita Kaur is my favourite teacher. She teaches Social Science to class 6. She is a very professional and qualified teacher. She always helps me with my doubts, and she never gets angry even if I ask her any doubt more than once. She is very friendly and approachable, and hence many of my classmates also consider her their favourite teacher.

My Favourite Teacher Essay

I really enjoy her class, and she pays attention to each and every student in our class. She teaches in a very interactive and creative way. Her classes are very interesting, and she never makes them boring, and therefore she is my favourite teacher.

200 Word Essay On My Favourite Teacher

Everyone has a favourite teacher in their school or college life. The one teacher whose classes they look forward to attending. They wait eagerly and never skip that one particular teacher’s class. Anita Sharma is that teacher for me. She is my favourite teacher. She teaches us History, Geography, Economics, and Civics.

Most of my classmates from other sections complained about how boring these subjects were. But she makes these subjects fascinating by using her unique way of teaching. She uses stories and pictures to teach the theory. Her classes are enjoyable and engaging. She keeps checking on everyone from the first bench to the last bench in her class.

She is also one of those teachers that guides us whenever we are stuck with doubts. She even made a social media group so we can contact her especially when we have any doubts anytime. Whenever I can’t understand anything in Social Science, I ask her in the group, and she replies instantly, solving my doubts in minutes. She is always gentle and calm with students who don’t understand fundamental theories. She tries to explain them using different techniques, but there is never a slight bit of frustration or anger in her tone. She rarely scolds any student, and she has never struck someone. All these reasons made her my favourite teacher.

500 Word Essay On My Favourite Teacher

I was never a really bright student in my class, I used to love other subjects, but mathematics was always my weak subject. But it all changed in class 9 when Anirudh Kumar became our mathematics teacher. In his first-class itself, he gently and in a very calm way introduced himself and went to each and every student to ask about their hobbies and favourite subjects. When he asked me, I abruptly said, “I don’t like Mathematics, and history is my favourite subject.”

The classroom went completely silent. I was afraid that he was going to be upset over my answer, but to my shock, he smiled and said, “We will change that by the end of this year.”

Now I am in class 12, and he really did change my favourite subject. I love mathematics only because of him. He is and will always be my favourite teacher. He taught his students in a way no other teacher did. Not only that, but he never scolded anyone for doing any of the work wrong. Furthermore, he was always very patient and friendly. Even the weakest students in the class including me were slowly improving in the exams because of him.

Way Of Teaching | He used funny and catchy rhyming tricks to make us learn the hard mathematics formulas. We never ever felt any discomfort or fear in his presence; he turned the class into a convivial and jolly place single-handedly. There were days when I looked for Sunday to pass, just to be in the Mathematics class on Mondays. Whenever I got confused or troubled with any problem – from a small long division sum to choosing my career, I went to him, and he solved all my problems in seconds. Even my classmates used to take his help and fondly called him sir counsellor.

On the teacher’s day, he even won the best teacher award. He was selected by popular voting. I realised that day Anirudh sir is a favourite of many. I felt very proud and happy for him.

Inspiration To Students | He was also involved in many social activities. He used to teach poor kids for free in the evening. He was connected with many NGOs and went to teach underprivileged kids in slums on weekends. I remember once he took our entire class to the slum area. I was struck with awe when I saw him teaching the kids there with the same level of passion and zeal he used to teach us in the school. That was the moment he became my all-time favourite teacher.

Impact On My Life | I scored the highest marks in Mathematics in my class 9. He developed a spark in me to study mathematics. He turned the dull and boring subject into something I love doing just for fun. I even scored full marks in my class 10 Board Examination. I spoke to him over the phone and thanked him. The mediocre student in me will be forever grateful to him for teaching with so much passion. He played a huge part in making me what I am today.

Introduction:

Teachers are the ones who play a very vital role in shaping our future. From the Pre-Kinder Garden to your Post-Doctoral fellowships, they teach, impart knowledge, share ethical values, and imbibe morality, thereby shaping our personality as a strong one.

My Teacher:

Throughout our lives, we will be having many kith and kins who will hold a special place in our hearts. For me, one such person is my teacher. All of us, for sure, will definitely agree to the fact that the kinship between us and our kinder garden teachers could not be well-defined. I like my nursery teacher, so much. There is something very magical about her. Maybe, she was the first teacher in my life or maybe, she was very sweet in talking to all of us, I am unable to portray why she is always my favourite. I relied on her blindly.

Unforgettable Memories:

I have some cherished memories with my teacher. Whenever I think of those memories, it makes me blissful. On the last day of my nursery school, I started crying at the very thought of leaving her and having a new teacher. I had fallen sick due to crying for hours together. I skipped my food. My parents were not able to do anything. They called for her to make me feel better. My teacher travelled a few miles across the city and reached the hospital. She, then, said that she would never forget any of her students and asked me to write to her. I started writing to her every week from then on and she replied to every letter of mine. Till date, I look at my teacher as my second mother and she guides me in all my difficult situations.

Conclusion:

Having a good teacher who can share an amalgamated relationship with the students is a boon. A good teacher should be a good mentor, a philosopher, a guide, a friend and above all a surrogate parent to the children. I am lucky that I had gotten one in my lifetime.

My favorite subject is English and my most favorite teacher is Chitra Ma’am. She teaches us English. She likes me a lot and appreciates my hard work. She joined our school one year ago. Before that, I was not so good at English. But after attending her classes, we have all become much better at this subject.

I like her for many reasons. First of all, she teaches the lessons in a very interesting way. Even when we have doubts or questions, she never gets upset with us. Her best quality is her loving nature. She would come to school daily without missing a day.

Her dressing sense is nice. She wears simple salwar suits. She always speaks to her students softly and respectfully. I eagerly wait for her class and do my English homework on time. Chitra Ma’am puts a lot of effort in explaining every chapter.

There are many activities given at the end of every lesson and she makes us participate in all of them. Not only that, but she also encourages us to take part in drama and poem competitions. Since her first day, she made a rule for us.

All of us has to speak in English during the English period. Every student tries to talk in English even if the sentence sounds improper. She has taught us to never laugh at each other’s mistakes. This has improved our spoken English in a great way. Now, we are able to talk in English with more confidence.

Another great quality of hers is that she treats every child equally. After explaining the lesson to us, she asks each one of us different questions about the chapter. Sometimes, we also love to talk about our personal lives, like what do we like about our lives, how our parents work hard for us, and things like that.

When we get confused or need an emotional support, she is the best person to talk to. Her advice and suggestions are always positive. Last month, on teacher’s day, all the students wished her and brought presents for her. We also sang a song to her.

I made a beautiful greeting card for her and a red rose with it. She accepted it with a smile and thanked us for everything. I feel grateful to have such a gentle and great teacher in my life who supports me in every way.

In school, you tend to interact with a lot of people who can either impact your life positively or negatively. A teacher is one neutral person who will manage to strike a balance between the positive and the negative. Teachers have a huge responsibility that we students may not understand. All in all our teachers try their best to provide an education, guidance and discipline despite the challenges we might impose on them. The life of a student is entirely dependent on a teacher because most of their time is spent in school rather than with parents that is why teachers play a major role in shaping the lives of young children through school.

Who Is my favourite Teacher?

I have several teachers now that I am in high school but there is only one whom I can relate to as “the teacher” because of the impact he has made in my life. The teacher is male, of Indian origin and has a funny accent when he speaks. He is married and has three children. Actually, one of his children is my age and I know him through tennis practice because he comes to train with us sometimes. I like him because his sense of humor gives a good learning experience for the students. He is a math teacher and he is very good at what he does. Students tend to make fun of him because of his accent but he make fun of it himself, which gets even funnier. This teacher has been a great mentor to me and other student ever since we joined high school. I met him on a personal level one day after class when I needed clarification on a topic I had not quite understood. The teacher was kind to me and guided me through it. Since then, he took his own initiative to do follow-ups on me and I became really good in math due to his efforts.

Coincidentally, he also coaches my tennis team and we meet out on the field. We have won several awards as a tennis team under him. I feel connected to the teacher through his mentorship and he has become like a school parent to me because whenever I have an issue, he is free to help me out.

How the teacher has impacted my life in school .

Mentorship goes along way depending on the approach used. When I first joined high school, I did not have much confidence in myself. This teacher mentored me and made me believe in myself. The good thing is the attention he gives t is students because most of the times, he follows up on the performances and ensures that he does everything he can to help students improve academically. He has also been a role model to me through his way of doing things. He is dedicated to his work and he is an achiever. Through following his footsteps, I have been able to dedicate myself into studies and sports, which has helped me to achieve my goals.

In conclusion, good teachers are hard to find but when you find one, make the most out of them.

The word “teacher” depicts a person that teaches. English dictionary defines teacher as “a person who teaches, especially one employed in a school”. A more recent definition of teacher in the linguistics field is “a tutor that interacts with the learners in order to facilitate good learning”.

Types of Teachers

Old method teachers: the teachers found under this method adopt the rigid mode of impartation of knowledge. They control the class the way a king would rule over his subjects. Old method teachers are less concerned about the welfare of their learners, they are syllabus-oriented.

New method teachers: the tutors under this model are student-oriented. They are more concerned about their learners and their various levels of understanding. They accept and promote contributions in class unlike the old method teachers. New method teachers encourage the inquisitiveness of their students.

Attributes of a Teacher:

A standard teacher has all or most of the various characters imbedded in them:

  • Compassionate
  • Open-minded
  • A good counselor
  • Friendly and most importantly
  • Approachable.

Attributes of My Favorite Teacher:

Personally, I see my teacher as a mini-god because he leaves his mark on me. He influences my life in ways that enables me affect changes wherever I find myself.

He is a perfect example of the new model teachers. Basically, he is student-oriented. In the classroom, he employs the Eclectic mode of teaching (this is the combination of all the modes of teaching “discussion mode, play way mode, role play mode, question mode” so as to facilitate standard learning).

He comes into the classroom; starts the lecture with a recap of what was discussed in the previous class, gives room for the students to ask questions that arose from the last class, answers them and then starts a new topic.

To start a new topic, he starts with a mind-capturing introduction that attracts the attention of all students. Once he is through with introducing the topic, he gauges our reaction in order for him to know if his students are on the same page with him or left behind.

Then, he moves on to the discussion mode of teaching, whereby he throws questions to his students and accommodates both relevant and irrelevant answers, at the end of this model, he sieves through the answers provided, pick the relevant ones and add his own iota to it, he also always applaud the courage of all who answers his questions.

He moves either into the role play method or the play way method, here he selects students to either act out the lessons from the day’s topic or summarizes what he has taught for the day. The use of this particular mode enlightens the students more on the topic being discussed.

Finally, he moves over to the questions and revision mode, where he personally go through all he has taught over the course of the period. During this mode, he entertains questions from students on their personal areas of difficulties. Occasionally, he gives assignments to back up his teachings.

During his teachings, he pays close attention to the expression, mood, sitting posture and carriage of his students. This tells him when his students are lost, sad, worried, hungry, sick, away in dream land or simply tired.

Once he is done processing the information gotten from our faces, he either finds a way of brightening the mood of his students, bringing them back from the dream world, or ending his class without breaking his stride or alerting the whole population of students to what is currently going on.

It is only normal for a human being to reflect his mood whenever he is talking or interacting, but my teacher hardly ever allow his bad, horrible moods interfere with his teachings.

Outside the classroom, my teacher is approachable, fatherly, and jovial. He entertains all and no one is excluded from his open arms, smiles and affections.

He is a good counselor who is always ready to help me out of my tight corners. He gives twenty first century advises in a fatherly way.

Although, due to my teachers lenient ways with students, some students tend to be lazy, disrespectful, stubborn or rude. He has a way of being firm, maintaining class control while teaching.

In conclusion, my teacher has all the attributes and more of a new method teachers. He is capable of combining all modes of teaching, he is compassionate, passionate, and friendly. From my interactions with him, I can confidently say that he is one of the best teachers around.

A teacher plays a very important life in shaping your life as well as career. A good teacher is a blessing for the students in their early years and helps them understand the world; learn moral values along with education. Most importantly, a teacher helps you the art of survival and brings out the best of you.

My Teachers, My Role Models

During my formative years, I have come across many teachers who have influenced my life for the better. Having being studies in a convent school, I got to face a much-disciplined environment during my school years. The teachers, although were very polite in their behaviour, at the same time ensuring that we all followed a disciplined life. We were taught how to inculcate these values in our daily life so as to be better human beings when we grow up and face the world. Although all the teachers were good, there is one teacher whose teachings I just cannot forget. She is Ms Kirti Bhushan. Her teachings have been so powerful and impactful that I can still feel them during my day to day decisions even today.

My Best Teacher

Ms Kirti was my class educator as well and took participation in the daily activities with us as well. She was a strict instructor anyway extremely amusing and mind in nature. At the same time, she was extremely restrained and dependable. She did her work perfectly with the class at a perfect time without getting late. I liked her, particularly as she attempted simple approaches to show us beneficial things. We made the most of her class. She taught us English subject as well. She even made us giggle by telling heaps of jokes in the middle of when she taught. She likewise managed us exceptionally well amid any school or between school rivalry of the move, sports, scholastic, and so on. She instructed us to share things in class among our associates, for example, lunch or other required things.

Her Background

She was from Varanasi and completed her initial studies there itself. She took her higher education degrees from the Banaras Hindu University. She was extremely friendly and kind in nature. She realized well about how to deal with little youngsters in the class. Her one of a kind style of educating is perhaps what I mostly recall her for. I even meet her at times at whatever point I have to explain some intense inquiries of my day to day issues, she advises me so easily and comfortably. She looks extremely savvy with shimmer eyes and fair hair.

Her Smiling Attitude

She generally smiled when she entered the classroom and first got some information about our prosperity. She additionally helped us in the games at whatever point our games instructor was missing. She had a smiling face even during the strict environment during the examination times. She constantly rebuffed to the students who were with fragmented home works. She was acclaimed for making loads of fun amid the class time and ensure there was a positive ambience all around.

She was an instructor with great aptitudes of educating, well-disposed nature, great comical inclination, understanding and nice. I am proud to be one of her favourite students, as she always said good things about me to other teachers. At times she gave us chocolates on doing great in the class tests and exams. She never gave us heaps of assignments at home. She was exceptionally eager and constantly spurred us for doing our best in the examination.

Teacher’s In Today’s Scenario

Today the general population are changing and their reasoning and advancement thoughts are more against nature. Presently for the world, a teacher is only a teacher. Various offices and departments only tend to remember them on teachers day during various events and usually do not remember them otherwise. Individuals also share few posts via web-based networking media with respect to teachers and after that just forget them. Individuals overlook a bigger number of things that they are gaining from teachers. Schools and students also praise the teacher’s day event and value the endeavours teachers are doing. This is incredible if individuals ought to pursue the exercises of teachers also.

The genuine present for teachers is when students turn into a decent individual, effective in their vocation and business. Not all teacher are great in instructing and comparatively, not all students resemble “Shishya and Guru” particularly in the advanced period. A few teachers are incredible and they are dependable in heart of students all life along.

Students admire teachers for counsel and direction. Students are inspired by scholastic exercises as well as they are intrigued to pursue their life exercises. That is the reason it’s exceedingly essential for teachers to motivate students to pursue great propensities not terrible by their own precedent. An instruction is critical in everybody’s life and assumes different jobs in various phases of life. It’s imperative that individuals understand the significance of teachers and pursue their teachers in the right spirit.

Experts state that writing improves critical thinking and problem-solving, and skills as words need to be written in a specific structure and order. Also, there is a deep connection between reading and writing. Once children learn to write at a young age, it helps them identify the connection between letter sounds and phonetic sounds.

Did you know that essay writing is a crucial element in most competitive examinations across the globe? This is exactly why the concept of creative writing needs to be taught to a child from the very beginning. Over here, we will discuss how to write a paragraph on their teacher.

You can help your children express their feelings by writing a few lines on their teacher. For early and young learners, such as classes 1, 2 and 3, creative writing is an opportunity to express what they learn and experience. When a child begins to write what they feel, this enables a range of life-long skills. So, do ask your children to write a paragraph about their teacher.

A teacher plays many important and significant roles in our lives such as a guardian, guru, learning instructor, mentor, and guide. A teacher shows us the path to success in different stages of our lives. Young kids have delicate minds, and when they are provided with an opportunity to write on a specific topic, they try to express their views from their hearts. It is a beautiful experience to watch a child express their innocent views in simple and short sentences. With the following tips in mind, you can teach them to write an excellent essay on their teacher:

  • An essay primarily comprises an introduction, body, and conclusion.
  • You can start by introducing your school – the name and location of your school. You can then mention which class you are studying and your favourite teachers.
  • In the body of the essay you can describe your favourite teacher and what are the qualities in them that make them special to you.
  • You can also speak about how your teacher helps, guides, and corrects you.
  • Art the conclusion stage of the essay, you can write about how you would always be thankful to this teacher of yours, and what is that one important life skill you have learnt from them.

Teachers are, undoubtedly, some of the most essential people in a child’s life, and are also the most important people, next to parents, for students. Children begin learning in their elementary schools with the help of teachers. Then a student’s next phase after elementary school is middle school, where teachers guide students through the crucial adolescent changes. Students then mature as young adults during their middle school journey with various life-related questions. High school teachers then guide, support, and impart values to the student’s new life phase questions. The highest level of satisfaction in every teacher is to watch their students grow and achieve success in their respective lives. When asked to write an essay on the topic ‘my teacher’, for classes 1 and 2, you can use the following ten lines. You can even tweak it to use for writing a few lines on the same topic for class 3 –

  • To honour every teacher’s contribution to a student’s life, Teacher’s Day is celebrated annually on September 5th.
  • A teacher helps students learn important values for life.
  • Teachers play a big role in moulding and shaping a student’s life.
  • A student’s accomplishments provide teachers with enormous satisfaction and pride in good education.
  • My teacher never forgets to give us a warm hug before we enter and walk out of our classes every day.
  • She teaches us Science and tells us a lot of interesting facts and stories.
  • Teachers play the role of second parents in imparting life values and helping in our overall development.
  • My teacher is very disciplined and punctual and always comes to class on time.
  • My teacher makes the most effort to make learning fun for us and is always ready to help us whenever we are stuck.
  • In this way, my class teacher is an important figure in my life, like a guide, who inspires us to do well in our studies regularly.

As parents, we may have observed that children tend to listen to their teachers more than their parents. This clearly demonstrates the importance of the teacher’s impact on students. Teachers impart crucial and valuable life lessons to their students. This can be used an example of a short essay on this topic for class 3, or a short paragraph about the favourite teacher:

I study in Delhi Public School and there are a total of thirty teachers in my school. All the teachers in the school are good, but my favourite is Mr. Rishabh Singh. He is polite, well educated, friendly, and an excellent teacher. He considers all the students as his own children and guides us as a friend and mentor. We enjoy his class a lot as he makes us happy too. Thus, I am forever grateful and incredibly proud to have such a great teacher.

Note: This example can even be referred to by students of class 2.

A teacher is a life-changing role model who influences a child’s growth development and inculcates essential everyday values. Schools often require students to write a paragraph on their favourite teacher for class 3, as teachers are the developmental blocks of society. The following can be used as an example of a long essay on my class teacher:

My favourite teacher is someone who imparts essential and valuable lessons, and guides students to always take the right path in life. The best teachers aim to achieve a balance of both positivity and negativity in each student’s life. However, just as a coin, there are two types of teachers- teachers that are understanding, and teachers that are strict. An understanding teacher enhances teaching scenarios. Some teachers always remain in a person’s memory due to the role they have played in a student’s life. One such teacher who will always remain in my memory is Mrs. Smita Bansal, our 2nd standard Art and Crafts teacher. Though she taught Art, Mrs. Smita always helped us out with any problem we faced in school. She was a teacher whom every student went to for any kind of advice. She had the great ability to motivate all students. She was always kind, helpful, and generous. She always treated students like friends, and always had time for them, and understood them. She also told us to never think negatively and always think positively. I am so grateful to have her in my life.

Note: The above example can also be used for a long teacher paragraph for class 3.

The composition about /my class teacher’ will help your child learn to make points before beginning their description. Writing essays will also inculcate emotional and intelligent skills in children. Finally, the essay makes them appreciate their teachers.

In this way, these tips can help children to write a cohesive and beautiful paragraph or essay on their teachers, regardless of whether they are in class 1, 2 or 3. So, you too can use these tips and help your child improve in creative writing, starting with one essay at a time.

MY CLASS TEACHER

A class teacher is a person who plays an important role in molding a student's life. Teachers remain in memories of children or students and serve as a key to many life-related issues and problems. A teacher imparts not only academic knowledge but also shares morality that shapes our behaviors and ethical values as well. A teacher falls in line next to our parents to help students balance positivity and negativity and spend maximum time of childhood in shaping the life of a student. Teachers are a life-changing model to students because they influence a child's growth development and inculcating every important value every day. They are building blocks of society with immense patience, and a bright shimmering smile.

My class teacher is my most favorable teacher in school because she mentors, encourages, guides, and gives me direction in my daily life challenges and activities. Archiving a balance of negativity and positivity in every student's life is my class teacher's main objective that she strives for. However, there are two categories of teachers-the strict teacher and understanding teacher like a coin. An understanding teacher improves teaching scenarios.

The achievement of the students in a class is the greatest possession of every class teacher. The main goal of class teachers is to encourage their students to achieve as an individual in the general environment society and the nation as a whole. The future advancement of the country rests on the teacher to mold the students to achieve successful lives. Teachers impart important messages that investigate the circumstances to gain essential life factors.

Another importance of a class teacher is acting as a role model to students in his or her class. A role model is a person who inspires the ability of a person to achieve something great in life. Class teachers are the most influential people next to parents in the life of every student. Every student or child first learns through elementary school teachers, the student's next face is the middles school class teacher who then guides the students through essential adolescent transitions.

During the formative stages of every student's life, class teachers hold the most significant impact. It is always the role of the class teacher to know why a student is absent and should also know the reason behind absence. If a student is ill and therefore does not attend classes in school, the class teacher is supposed to call the parents to confirm the reason why the student did not come to school. Class teachers are sometimes needed to even pay a visit to a sick student to see how he/she is fairing on. Class teachers, guide and also advise students when they need to be advised.

Apart from imparting important life lessons to students, class teachers also guide, advise and counsel their students when hurt or when they undergo psychological torture. Class teachers need to know every student by full name, know their parents, and also know all positive and negative issues affecting the student in life. My class teacher is not only a role model to my life but also a second parent r guardian next to my parents. Teachers perform every function a parent performs and are even better than parents sometimes.

He is polite and sweet natured. He is very hard-working. He loves his youngers and respects his elders. He himself is a model of good conduct. He guides us on the right path in order to make us useful and sensible citizens.

The subject of mathematics seemed very complex and difficult to me from the beginning. But he explained mathematical problems, geometry, everything so easily that I started to get very good marks in mathematics. He makes mathematics so interesting to us.

What particularly attracted me was his wide knowledge and keen interest in diverse matters. He wants his children to learn with understanding. He does not depend only on bookish knowledge. In course of my student life, I came across many good teachers. Amongst them were brilliant scholars and great teachers. But in Sri Pankaj Mukherjee, I found not only a teacher with all the good qualities but also a friend, a philosopher and a guide. Although he loved everyone, I was his favourite student. Untiring in his zeal, he had great love for all students even the naughty ones. He was never unhappy even for a moment.

Though English was his favourite subject, he was equally strong in other subjects too and could go on giving notes on them with equal ease. He explained everything so lucidly that all the subjects he taught proved to be interesting. His doors were always open to us. He sympathised with us whenever we were in difficulty. He was a strict disciplinarian but he had a soft corner for all of us.

He also encouraged us to take part in sports and games and even participated in certain games with us. In short, he was more than a teacher to us. I admire him and still remember him because he was an ideal teacher in all respects.

The 10 Most Important Qualities of a Good Teacher, According to Real Educators

This is what it takes to succeed in this challenging career.

Qualities of a Good Teacher: Build relationships with kids and families. Be firm but fair. Show patience and compassion. Be flexible.

It’s a standard teacher interview question : “What do you think is the most important quality of a good teacher?” While everyone has a different answer, there are some that come up more often than others. We asked a group of experienced educators and administrators to share their thoughts on the key qualities of a good teacher. Here’s what they had to say.

1. Patience

essay of my class teacher

This was far and away the most commonly mentioned characteristic by educators in our survey. “Patience can be used in virtually every situation,” says high school ELA teacher Ann Cox. “If a teacher is able to remain calm, consider others’ point of view, and think through scenarios, they will be able to navigate just about anything that comes their way.”

She continues: “Patience helps teachers not to react in the moment when students are off task, disrespectful, etc. It’s also helpful when dealing with angry parents so you don’t say or do something you might regret later. And patience is definitely needed when sitting through meetings and professional development sessions!”

For ELA teacher Kenly CG, patience means “paying attention to each student’s needs and showing that you care about your students’ learning.” UK special school teacher Sarah Brown also advises “remaining calm, listening and observing students’ needs, repeating instructions, and modelling again when necessary.”

2. Empathy and Compassion

essay of my class teacher

These two traits were a close second behind patience when we asked about the qualities of a good teacher. “They have to know you care before they can learn from you,” explains middle school teacher Samantha Wheeler. As a special ed teacher from New York notes: “You have to teach the child before you can teach the curriculum.”

“Empathy is a constant exercise in stepping outside of yourself and your perspective to see the children you teach for who they are,” notes Indiana preschool teacher Maile C. Quinton. “Contact talks. Get down on the same level as a child, listen to what they say, and emphasize their shared feelings by validating them. Don’t try to silver lining everything—you can validate a situation, a moment, an emotion without condoning a behavior or a problem. Empathy isn’t sympathy.”

3. Flexibility and Adaptability

essay of my class teacher

Being open-minded to change is critical in this field. So many of the educators we surveyed agree with this North Carolina ESL teacher: “There is nothing constant in teaching. Good teachers have to be able to adapt to the changing needs of students, to new administrators, new curricula, new colleagues, and new technology.”

“With so many different needs from students and parents, teachers need to be flexible to accommodate and meet students where they are at,” says elementary school counselor Lisa K, while high school English teacher Nicole P. adds, “There are often times where you need to think on your feet, so being flexible is important to go with the flow in different situations.”

Elementary special ed teacher Brianna Vuori sums it up like this: “We can only begin to predict what the future will hold and with that what we need to prepare students for, so adaptability is critical to being able to survive and thrive in this ever-changing profession.”

essay of my class teacher

Teaching can be a tough gig, and you’ll need to be dedicated and passionate in order to thrive. “Passion is what drives us forward and what sees us through rough times,” emphasizes ELS department head Katerina T. “It is the driving force behind every lesson plan or decision we make and what lies at the foundation of life-changing relationships with our students.”

“Teachers that have passion will always find a way to meet the demands of the job,” says Florida teacher Jamie Cabaniss. “Teachers can lean on their passions when feeling frustrated and burnt out. Passions are what reignite us to get back in the classroom to teach our hearts out.”

Preschool teacher Christina H. couldn’t agree more. “You have to have a love and passion for what you are doing,” she declares. “Teaching isn’t just ‘teaching.’ It is also being a second mom (or dad), a counselor, a referee, a nurse, and so much more. To wear these many hats, you need to love what you are doing. You also need to love your students to help them succeed. Loving them on their best and worst days is what will make you successful.”

5. Kindness

essay of my class teacher

Over and over again, educators emphasized kindness as one of the most important qualities of a good teacher. “We are in the business of teaching human beings. We must teach them to be good people,” stresses Adam Peterson, Illinois music teacher and tutor.

Tina Jones agrees: “Teachers need to be kind, caring, compassionate and understanding. In our world today, with kids getting so much information and misinformation via social media, children need examples of those qualities more than ever.”

6. Collaboration

essay of my class teacher

“Good teachers need to be able to give ideas, ask for help, share, and communicate with coworkers and families,” advises one Washington second grade teacher. “Be able to take suggestions, offer help, and not take things personally.”

Teachers regularly have to work collaboratively, and not just with their fellow colleagues and administrators. Developing strong, collaborative relationships with parents and families is vital. To succeed in this field, you need to learn to work well as part of a team.

7. Professionalism

essay of my class teacher

It probably feels like professionalism should be a given in any job, but it’s one of the most important qualities of a good teacher because you need to gain and maintain the respect of students, families, and administration. “Some days are going to be frustrating, discouraging, and stressful,” warns an Ohio 7th grade science teacher, “but you need to remain professional by staying calm and encouraging and being a good mentor for your students.”

Learn more: The Five P’s of Professionalism in Teaching at Grand Canyon University

8. Sense of Humor

essay of my class teacher

There’s no doubt about it, teachers do best when they have a sense of humor. “Laughing at yourself is a great relief, and laughing with children builds trust with them,” says Maile C. Quinton. Find ways to bring humor into your classroom, and you’ll find that students relax and learn a little more easily. (Plus, it’s much easier to deal with the small daily annoyances of teaching when you learn to laugh them off!)

Learn more: Engaging Students With Humor at Association for Psychological Science

9. Open-Mindedness

essay of my class teacher

“Be open to learning from more (and even less) experienced teachers, and open to trying out new teaching and classroom management methods,” recommends middle school ELA teacher Abigail Perry.

“We are building relationships with a diverse student population,” notes Cheryl Rizzo, a middle school ELA teacher. “This can be a source of stress or create divide. However, with an open mind, it can create new opportunities or a chance to grow. Teachers are open-minded when they allow students to have a voice and take an active part in their education.”

Part of being open-minded means demonstrating a willingness to grow and a dedication to growth mindset. According to a literacy coach from North Carolina: “This job requires constant reflection, learning, and growth.”

Learn more: How To Be Open-Minded and Why It Matters at Very Well Mind

10. Resilience

essay of my class teacher

Marilyn Weber, a retired principal from Massachusetts, names this as the quality she looked for in a good teacher. “In order to navigate the world of education with all its related constituencies and responsibilities, an educator needs to be knowledgeable, flexible, an impeccable communicator, and should be able to withstand all the highs and lows of what comes their way and needs to be accomplished,” she states. She added that educators must be able to “do so without allowing any of that to shake their confidence and resolve in order to do what’s best for their students.”

That’s a tall order! Fortunately, Andrea Perry, a certified coach for educator well-being, has some advice. “Develop emotional intelligence. It’s critical for keeping our calm and being proactive, not reactive. This supports the teacher not only in serving their students well but also helps them remain joyfully in the profession as well.”

More Qualities of a Good Teacher To Consider

These qualities of a good teacher didn’t make the top 10, but they’re definitely worthwhile attributes for every educator to cultivate:

  • Inclusive mindset: “There is such a huge stigma against disabilities and it is often hushed away, which creates shame. All children are general education first and receive special education services second. Build a classroom community with respect by explaining differences to students and celebrating everyone’s strengths. True inclusivity helps all students grow, not just the students in a special education classroom. True inclusivity should help you as a teacher grow.” —Katie M., Functional Life Skills Teacher
  • Love for all children: “A good teacher must truly like kids, even the naughty ones. Too often teachers only seem to like the ‘good’ kids or the ones from ‘good’ families. They attribute the student’s behavior to something personal or bad about them. Instead, those are the kids in whom we need to diligently look for the good.” —Kathryn Roe, retired educator and administrator

My Teacher Essay in English for Class 1 Students

Essay on my teacher for class 1 students.

Writing an essay involves a lot of thinking. Hence essay writing is considered as one of the most efficient ways to teach a kid how to think critically, use creativity, and jot down thoughts in one place. Learning essay writing at such a young age will help the kids to assess their thinking power and writing skills.

Here our experts have put their best efforts to bring forth the essay on ’My

Teacher,’ so that you can help your child in learning how to write a short essay about ‘My Teacher’ for Class 1.

Short Essay on “My Teacher”

A teacher is the builder of the nation and shows light to our future. Teaching is a

noble profession. They educate us and help us to become responsible citizens. I am a student of Class 1 and my favourite teacher in the school is Anita ma’am. Her full name is Anita Thakkar. She is our class teacher and teaches us English.

She is very sweet, jovial, and kind-hearted. She teaches well. We keep quiet when she teaches. She makes sure we understand the subject well. If we do not understand any topic, she explains it again very nicely. Her teaching and presentation skills are really good. That’s why it is easier to understand every chapter. I never miss her class. She guides us and teaches us good habits. She is strict but lovely. That’s why we are very fond of her and love to attend her class.

Sometimes she tells us stories as well. On any special occasion, she gives us cakes and chocolates. We also bring a cake for ma’am on our birthdays. Last year we celebrated her birthday also. I gifted her a drawing of mine. She was really happy. We feel very lucky being taught by Anitama’am. We are proud of our class teacher. A lot of her students are quite successful today. We also wish to be her successful students in the future.

I think the best teacher is a gift of God to us. We always thank God for blessing us with a good teacher like Anita ma’am.

Long Essay on “My Teacher”

A teacher is a person who plays a very important role in casting a student’s life. A teacher has so many different roles to perform in the student’s life such as guru, guardian, instructor, and guide and mentor who delivers knowledge about the value of life. He or she also provides information regarding subjects and inspires as well as motivates us to take education for getting success in life.

I am a student of Class 1 and my teacher’s name is Ms Reena Shah. She teaches us English. She is such a friendly and kind-hearted teacher. She teaches the subject in a play-way method that we enjoy in her class. At the time of her class, every student seats quietly on their benches.

She explains the chapter in simple language so that all students can understand the lesson very easily. If we get stuck on some topic or get confused she clears our doubt by explaining the topic again with the proper answer. Her teaching style and presentation style is very good. She never gets angry if we ask her lots of questions.

Every student in my class waits for her period excitedly. She also teaches us and guides us on good things and good manners. Though she is strict regarding the classwork and homework she is a very lovely teacher. During the time of Christmas or on special occasions she always brings chocolate for us.

Every teacher is a great belonging to our nation. That is why on 5 September of every year we celebrate “Teacher’s Day” to give thanks to our teachers for teaching us different sides of life.  I am feeling lucky to be taught by Ms Reena.

In my point of view, the best gift that God has given to students is “Teacher.”

I worked in schools for over 2 decades. My kids are homeschooled.

  • I worked in schools for over two decades and loved that my kids were in school.
  • The pandemic forced remote learning and my kids thrived.
  • I appreciate that they are safer at home than in schools and that we get to travel.

Insider Today

I thought I could never homeschool my own kids .

It wasn't for me. Not only did homeschooling seem difficult and intimidating, but as a former teacher, I loved that my kids were in school.

For more than two decades, I worked in schools — as a classroom teacher, after-school program teacher, volunteer, tutor, and substitute. I taught all ages, from preschoolers through high schoolers. I was an ardent supporter of public schools and thrived in traditional schools myself.

But the pandemic made me reevaluate everything.

My kids thrived during remote learning

Remote learning during the pandemic wasn't for everyone. Surprisingly, my family loved it. There were growing pains, but this new version of school worked for us.

In particular, one of our children is a talented student but faces social challenges in certain settings, like school. During remote learning, for the first time, they had the freedom to focus on learning without the social exhaustion of a seven-hour school day.

They thrived.

Related stories

I was available as a consistent aide for them, which our school system had been unable to provide. With more selective social interactions, our kid was able to approach those interactions from a place of strength and curiosity.

After years of trying to fit our child's needs into traditional school, we finally, and inadvertently, found where they fit best, and it was learning from home .

We could travel

Along with that realization, we'd long dreamed of my spouse working remotely so we could spend time in other countries. I wanted my kids to experience other cultures and ways of life. When the pandemic forced employers to explore remote work, this far-fetched dream became plausible, and by homeschooling, we weren't limited to summers. We decided to lean into learning through travel.

While homeschooling, we've traveled to a dozen US National Parks and lived for a month each in Spain and Kenya, with an upcoming stay in Costa Rica. Being able to travel during off seasons means more affordable prices and more ideal weather.

I wanted them to have anti-racist education

Prior to our decision, our local school board faced regular opposition to diversity and inclusion efforts. As in many communities, discourse became divisive. Speaking at a school board meeting in favor of inclusivity, I realized I didn't want my kids' education caught in the crossfire of political talking points. I wanted them to learn honest, thought-provoking, age-appropriate lessons about difficult topics, but I knew as an educator that teachers needed to tread carefully for their own protection in the current political climate.

Classroom teachers are the best people to guide students through these topics, but their freedom to teach is constantly being challenged. In the meantime, my kids have a teacher in their home who can teach without hesitation and answer their questions without repercussions.

I wanted them to be safe

There have been 18 school shootings on K-12 school grounds in the United States so far this year. Our district receives multiple threats each year, some deemed credible enough to result in increased police presence or building-wide searches. District administration closed school for two days after credible threats to minority students. Meanwhile, mental health and counseling services for students are overburdened and underfunded.

I feel anxiety for friends and loved ones every time we get the district's warning notifications, but a part of me also breathes easier knowing my own children are in the backyard working on science projects, not practicing lockdown drills.

Homeschooling wasn't on my radar. Yet it was the missing piece to helping my child and expanding my kids' perspectives. It's worth rethinking the possibilities of what education can be.

6 Ways Schools Are Managing Students’ Cellphone Use

essay of my class teacher

  • Share article

A flurry of school districts across the country are tightening cellphone restrictions, because they believe students’ misuse of the devices has negatively affected their behavior and ability to learn.

In 2015, 66 percent of schools in the United States prohibited non-academic use of cellphones during school hours, according to the National Center for Education Statistics . By 2020, that percentage had jumped to 77 percent.

Many educators blame students’ cellphone use for being the top distraction in schools and classrooms . The constant use of the devices has also been linked to students’ worsening mental health .

The issue has caught the attention of federal and state policymakers, too. Some states—such as California, Florida, Indiana, and Tennessee—have passed laws allowing schools to restrict cellphone use. A handful of other states are considering passing similar laws. Congressional lawmakers have also introduced legislation that would require a federal study on the effects of cellphone use on students’ mental health and academic performance.

Liz Kolb, a clinical professor of education technologies and teacher education at the University of Michigan, said it’s unlikely that all 50 states will pass laws restricting students’ cellphone use, “but we’re seeing a lot more [movement] at the individual school level, where they’re trying to figure out policies that make sense [for their communities].”

At the district level, these restrictions vary widely. Some districts restrict student cellphone use anywhere and any time during the school day. Some allow use of the devices during lunch and in the hallways. And others haven’t placed any restrictions at all, often because of parent and student pushback.

Even in districts where there’s a ban, “there’s a lot of nuance” in how schools are addressing it, Kolb said. “In order for a full school ban to be effective, you really have to have strong leadership supporting the staff in enforcing it.”

Some of those nuances include exceptions for students who have a documented need to have their digital devices for health reasons, such as checking blood glucose levels if a student has diabetes. Teachers also have the flexibility to allow students to use their cellphones in class if they are needed for instructional purposes.

Here are six different policy approaches districts are putting in place to address concerns about student cellphone use:

1. Cellphones are restricted for all students, regardless of grade level

In Florida’s Orange County district , all students are prohibited from using their cellphones and other wireless communication devices, such as smartwatches, during school hours—meaning from the first bell to the dismissal bell, these devices must be silenced and put away in their bags. If a student is caught using a phone during the school day, the device will be confiscated and returned to the student at the end of the day. Depending on the circumstances of the violation, a student could also get detention or be suspended.

Flint schools in Michigan also prohibit all students, regardless of grade level, from using cellphones or other personal electronic devices. If a student is caught using a phone, it will be confiscated and returned to the student’s parent or caretaker.

Some districts provide technological solutions, such as pouches, to lock and store students’ phones during the school day. In other districts, educators have found creative ways to separate students from their phones, such as using over-the-door shoe holders where students place their phones during class.

2. Cellphones restricted only for elementary students, more flexible for middle and high school students

While restrictions on the use of cellphones and other two-way communication devices exist for all students in the Wauwatosa district in Wisconsin , there are more flexible rules for middle and high school students. Cellphones are prohibited all day for elementary students, but middle and high school students can use their phones before and after school, between class periods, during lunch, and in free periods. Teachers and principals have discretion for imposing consequences for misuse.

3. Cellphones are prohibited for elementary and middle school students, but more flexible for high school students

Elementary and middle school students in Virginia’s Rockingham district are prohibited from using personal electronic devices during the school day, while high school students may use their devices during lunch, study hall, advisory periods if permitted by a teacher and principal, and in between classes.

4. Cellphones are restricted only in classrooms, locker rooms, and bathrooms

Other districts, such as Richmond schools in Wisconsin, have restrictions on cellphone use only in certain areas of schools, such as classrooms, locker rooms, and bathrooms—to prevent bullying or sharing of inappropriate images, according to some district policies.

5. Cellphones restricted only in classrooms

Some restrictions are centered around classroom time only and allow students to use their phones outside of the classroom. In the Brush school district in Colorado , for instance, students aren’t allowed to have their phones out during instructional hours but can use them any other time. If a student is caught with a phone when they’re not allowed to have it, parents can either come to school to collect the phone or they can let the school keep the phone until the end of the day.

Students' cell phones are collected by school administration before the start of spring break at California City Middle School in California City, Calif., on March 11, 2022.

6. Cellphone restrictions are left up to each school

There are also districts, such as Meriden in Connecticut and Minnetonka in Minnesota, that don’t have districtwide restrictions, but instead have guidelines that schools can choose to follow.

For instance, in Meriden, the guidelines recommend elementary students keep their phones in their bags the whole school day; middle school students keep their phones in their lockers but can use them during lunch; and to let high school students have access to their phones all day but they must be turned off and out of sight during class time.

Other districts, such as Pawtucket in Rhode Island , allow principals or teachers to implement their own school or classroom rules around cellphones, as long as there’s a clear plan for allowing students to use them in case of emergencies.

Editor’s Note: As Commencement approaches, we are featuring some of our Neag School Class of 2024 graduating students over the coming days.

Major: BS, Biology Education Hometown: East Hartford, Connecticut

Why did you choose UConn?

I chose UConn because, in high school, I spent a lot of time visiting the University. During that time, I fell in love with the campus and its lovely scenery. Additionally, during my senior year of high school, I knew I wanted to be a teacher and looked at the education programs at UConn. I spent more and more time learning about the Neag School and how they prepared their students to be educators, which helped me decide that UConn was the place for me.

What’s your major or field of study, and what drew you to it?

I am pursuing two degrees: one in biology education and one in biological sciences through the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. I’ve always been interested in science classes, but I have done very well in my science courses particularly and have always been very engaged in them. I decided on education specifically because, as a Latino, first-generation student, I want to increase the diversity of teachers in science education. Throughout my schooling, I can only think back to two or three of my teachers who were people of color. Students need teachers who look like them, who can relate to their cultural backgrounds, and who can create lessons that are relevant to them, and that’s my driving force for being in the classroom.

Did you have a favorite professor or class?

During my time at UConn, I found particular enjoyment in EGEN 4100, guided by my faculty advisor, Dr. Todd Campbell. This course has significantly equipped me for a career in education, particularly within the science classroom, by teaching me how to implement the Next Generation Science Standards effectively. Dr. Campbell’s unwavering support has left a profound mark on my UConn experience, and the knowledge gained from this course has been applicable during my student teaching experience. Additionally, I cannot leave out UNIV 1820: Education for Social Change, taught by Dominique Battle-Lawson and Carlton Jones. Dom and Carlton, thank you for seeing potential in me, thank you for teaching me about culturally responsive pedagogy, and thank you for your support during the time I spent in your course. You have tremendously impacted me, something I will never forget.

What activities were you involved in as a student?

I’ve been heavily involved here at UConn! I served as a Husky Insider for the Lodewick Visitors Center, providing tours and assisting students from underrepresented backgrounds. Additionally, I’ve dedicated two semesters as a first-year experience mentor, aiding first-year students in their transition to university life. Moreover, I’ve been actively engaged in Leadership in Diversity, an organization supporting pre-service teachers of color. Through this group, I’ve enhanced my professional development by attending out-of-state and in-state conferences, including hosting our conference in the spring, which draws administrators and teachers from across the state.

UConn has prepared me for the next chapter in life by enabling me to experience various school settings, where I’ve gleaned bits and pieces of what it takes to be an effective educator. — Daniel Lozano

What’s one thing that surprised you about UConn?

One aspect of UConn that surprised me is the size of the campus and the number of students at the Storrs campus. I’ve had the opportunity to meet many amazing people by stepping out of my comfort zone and actively participating. Additionally, I was impressed by the abundance of student organizations on campus, which provide fantastic opportunities for involvement.

What are your plans after graduation/receiving your degree?

After graduation, I plan to pursue a master’s degree at the Neag School of Education. Subsequently, I aspire to teach high school biology in a setting catering to students from underrepresented and low-income backgrounds. I aim to provide a supportive and empowering environment, allowing students to succeed in the science classroom.

How has UConn prepared you for the next chapter in life?

UConn has prepared me for the next chapter in life by enabling me to experience various school settings, where I’ve gleaned bits and pieces of what it takes to be an effective educator. Moreover, the University has provided opportunities for me to step out of my comfort zone and explore myself as an individual, which is crucial as I transition to life beyond college.

Any advice for incoming students?

The biggest piece of advice for incoming students is to prioritize attending office hours with your professors. It is a valuable opportunity to get your questions answered and fosters meaningful connections with your instructors, paving the way for lasting relationships. Don’t be afraid to ask questions! It would help if you felt confident in what you’re learning to be successful throughout your college journey.

What’s one thing everyone should do during their time at UConn?

Attend the basketball and football games, immerse yourself in campus organizations, and get involved! College offers endless opportunities to meet new people and create unforgettable experiences, so seize every moment. While academics are important, don’t forget to enjoy the company of your friends. Also, go to the Dairy Bar while you’re at it!

What will always make you think of UConn?

One thing that will always make me think of UConn is our mascot, Jonathan. Whenever I see a husky, I think about my experience at UConn. Like they say: students today, huskies forever. Go Huskies!
