Job Summary:

UW-Madison receives over $1.5 billion each year in sponsored project awards, submits over 4,000 proposals each year, requesting over $3.5 billion in funding. Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) manages about 10,000 active awards valued at nearly $4.0 billion. Under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor for Research, the Director will develop strategic and operational planning for a team of 99 employees; advise stakeholders in research and sponsored programs; and provide vision for the pre- and post- award functions of RSP, including: proposal submission, negotiations of sponsored research agreements, non-funded agreements, clinical trials, fee for service agreements, awards acceptance and setup, financial oversight, invoicing, reporting, audit, and closeout. RSP is responsible for the complete cycle of actions for proposals and awards, including proposal review and submission, grant and contract negotiations, budgetary and award management, accounting and fiscal reporting, financial compliance, and policy development for all sponsored programs at UW-Madison. In addition, RSP is responsible for preparing the University's F&A proposal.
Responsibilities:
- 25% Develops and directs strategic and operational planning for the institutional research administration office as well as campus-wide initiatives related to research and sponsored programs
- 10% Develops institutional level policies and procedures
- 20% Ensures institutional compliance with federal regulations, sponsor terms and conditions, state law, UW system, and campus requirements
- 15% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
- 20% Serves as an institutional liaison to internal and external leadership and stakeholders. Advises principal investigators, leadership, central grants administration, and granting agencies regarding contract interpretation and policies
- 10% Establishes, implements, and maintains procedures and guidelines for sponsored grants and agreements administration

Qualifications:
Well-qualified candidates will have the following required and/or preferred work experience: -Eight or more years of experience administering research activities is required. Preferably at a major educational institution. -Demonstrated management experience in research administration, including such areas as proposal review and submission, contract negotiation, award terms and conditions, award management, and electronic research administration. -Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate staff. -Superior oral, written and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment across organizational units at all organizational levels, including faculty, deans, divisional and central administration and senior institutional officials. -Demonstrated experience with the development and/or use of complex electronic systems. -Demonstrated strong working knowledge of federal and non-federal grant and contract administration, including policies and best practices at research universities. -Experience with federal, state, and university regulations governing grant activities. -Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience with planning, directing, and managing policies and best practices in grants management, as well as operations and service provision in a higher education environment.
Full Time: 100% It is anticipated this position requires work be primarily performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Minimum $225,000 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications The minimum salary for this position is $225,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) and Principal Investigators, the Clinical Research Coordinator will conduct clinical research studies (industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated) within the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) Department of Ophthalmology in adherence with assigned study protocols and manuals of operation and in accordance with clinical research principles.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the contact person for those interested in study participation and assist with recruitment activities including pre-screening electronic medical records for eligibility, contacting potential subjects, explaining all study procedures, and consenting eligible subjects or assenting parents or guardians for children enrolled in research studies.
- Coordinate day-to-day aspects of study related procedures, including, but not limited to scheduling visits and procedures, data entry, preparing for research visits, research visit documentation, maintenance of regulatory binders and study files, creation and/or maintenance of source documentation, preparation for monitoring visits, site initiation/closeout visits and audits as needed.
- Be able to coordinate and perform research testing and imaging for clinical research studies including but not limited to visual acuity, refraction, dark adaptation, visual field, microperimetry, fluorescein angiography, fundus photography, optical coherence tomography (OCT), ICG angiography, slit lamp photography, MP1, corneal mapping, specular biomicroscopy including confocal imaging, HRT Analyzer (glaucoma), and ERGs.
- Be able to administer surveys, such as the National Eye Institute Vision Function Questionnaire (NEI-VFQ-25), EuroQOL-5 Dimension, Reading speed, Health Utilities Index.
- Work with the research team and ocular photography department to ensure that all required eye exams and ocular testing are scheduled and completed according to protocol.
- Obtain and maintain study certifications for ETDRS, OCT, and photography for clinical trials.
- Obtain access to sponsors’ electronic data capture (EDC) systems, complete EDC trainings, and enter data into the EDC within 5 days of seeing the study patient.
- Maintain and organize study-related documentation and records using the EDC platforms, including capturing adverse events and serious adverse events and preparing for monitoring visits.
- Respond to all sponsor-related queries in a timely manner.
- Ensure that all aspects of Good Clinical Practice are followed at all times by developing and ensuring adherence with Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for clinical studies being conducted in the Ophthalmology Clinical Trials Unit.
- Work with the Regulatory Manager to gain CUIMC Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval in a timely manner by creating informed consent forms using sponsors’ templates, responding to IRB correspondents, submitting amendments, renewals, modifications, and other regulatory documents required by the sponsor and FDA, including progress reports.
- Ensure that all appropriate Institutional, State, and Federal regulations are followed throughout the course of the study according to study-related protocols and manuals.
- Work directly with sponsors’ designated Clinical Research Organizations (CRO) to complete all required study start-up documents including FDA 1572 forms, investigator signatures, CVs, medical licenses, Conflict of Interest, HIPAA, and Human Subjects Trainings in a timely manner.
- Complete feasibility forms requested by sponsors in a timely manner to assess ophthalmic equipment and examination rooms to conduct the studies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus minimum of 1 to 2 years of related experience.
- Conform to all applicable HIPAA, billing compliance and safety requirements.
- Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Prior research experience to include recruiting study participants, conducting standardized protocol visits and data entry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail required.
- Computer skills (Word, Excel) required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to travel to different sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Spanish
- Phlebotomy license

The Manager, Health Policy and Regulatory Affairs reports to the Director, Health Policy and Practice Advocacy.
Qualifications
Bachelors’ degree and minimum 3 to 4 years of relevant experience - prior association and/or experience communicating with membership directly. Knowledge of healthcare policy and the regulatory process is highly desirable. The ideal candidate must be able to coordinate advocacy communications to the Academy’s members in an organized manner with close attention to detail. They must also have strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to articulate complex concepts with conciseness and clarity, and strong interpersonal skills to facilitate interactions with both colleagues and members of the Academy. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain advocacy databases – including grassroots and member inquiries.
- Provide high-level and timely customer service to the membership through the member inquiry process.
- Monitor regulatory and payer issues impacting Otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeons.
- Manage and develop content to actively promote AAO-HNS advocacy work on social media.
- Work collaboratively within the team and organization to ensure member resources remain current and timely.
Specific Duties
- Triage member inquiries received by the Advocacy Business Unit to the appropriate team member. Maintain the member inquiry database and record the details of all inquiries.
- Working with the health policy team, research payer policies impacting the Otolaryngology community and engage with members on specific reimbursement issues.
- Monitor regulatory filings and opportunities for public comments through the federal register and other postings, working with the appropriate staff to coordinate sign-on or development of AAO-HNS comments.
- Develop and maintain timely information related to the Quality Payment Program. This includes resources, communications and education about changes and deadlines.
- Collaborate with the Reg-ENT team to ensure proper promotion of the registry as it relates to QPP reporting.
- Manage the social media outreach and engagement from the Advocacy business unit. This includes working with the team to draft, schedule and respond to social media inquiries in a timely manner.
- Maintain the grassroots databases and help facilitate member outreach during key times of the year.
- Participate on an internal team or Academy committee, through formal assignment and/or on an ad hoc basis.
- Work with the advocacy business unit to maintain current information the Advocacy related pages of the Academy website.
- Coordinate and support departmental efforts for processes related to the Academy’s annual meetings, Academy leadership conferences, and the AMA House of Delegates meetings.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
